Location for golf good and within walking distance for Sutton Coldfield
Beds were OK but not the most comfortable. Very noisy early morning as our room was overlooking the car park.
Clean , exceptionally friendly helpful staff throughout . Good food good location especially for the Belfry .
The ladies in the breakfast room were friendly and helpful. The mattress was comfortable. The room was clean.
Breakfast was below the standard expected. A buffet breakfast is fine - but not if you keep running out of plates, eggs and bacon with quite a delay to replenish. The pillows were extremely hard.
Gym
Small room
The grounds are lovely
The rooms are very dated and overpriced for the level of decor
The breakfast was excellent..the staff were very friendly even though hotel was busy..would definitely stay again if I'm in the area ..
Rude horrible terrible experience i want a refund of my 400 pounds
Rude horrible terrible experience i want a refund of my 400 pounds
The twin room beds were a great size, bigger than expected.
Some of the food was a little pricey.
Nothing I have put a complaint in and requested a refund but noone has reached out to me
Staff was rude. Judgemental argumentative ans damn right arrogant i checked out at 9pm and drove in the dark and rain 2 hours to get back home
Lovely location, friendly staff good breakfast.
Apart from the Bar prices being on the high side. For example 1 Double Bacardi and coke and 1 Double Gin and tonic £27.50. Also the lounge bar did not have enough seating, trying to find a table inside to eat was very difficult. Although we appreciate the time of year it was just not enough room. Our food was average. We ate in the restaurant which was a lovely experience but the food wasn’t as good as I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The prawn cocktail was really not good.
Friendly spacious informal
Good size room with view over car park. Clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and polite with cheerful demeanur. Excellent choice of breakfasat both hot and cold. Had meals at night which were most enjoyable
Rained all day on arrival with the result that the ceiling leaked at 9pm. reported to reception who offered alternative but declined as hotel was packed with guests and a wedding party plus didn't wat to pack and unpack. No-one from hotel came to check on follwing day. That night more heavy rain happened and the ceiling was in worse state with constant dripping. Eventually a porter came with large towels to put below leak. All this was pointed out to reception on our departure but no offer of discount was offered for the inconvenience which was poor
Friendly staff very welcoming, beautiful grounds. Clean room and lovely breakfast and bar meals.
Small car park
It was a very nice hotel with lovely grounds.
Unfortunately we found the room wasn’t up to a standard of a 4 star hotel - the blinds were dirty with some questionable stains, there was a cracks in the bathroom, the sealant has come away from the bath, furniture was broken and there was holes in the ceiling, the room and bathroom was far to small.
Loved the location, very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent lots of choice. Used the gym, pool and sauna all very good. Staff were friendly. Wouldn't hesitate in coming back
The swimming pool,sauna and jacuzzi
The food in the bar and the breakfast the day after were not great.
Impressive location. Friendly staff. SUPERB food.
Only one v minor caveat to an otherwise near perfect stay: The outside tables are too close to residents’ rooms. There was an issue of noise from guests who were enjoying staying out late ( after dark) drinking in the garden. As there is plenty of space on the lower lawn it would seem sensible to move the outside seating down there to avoid inconveniencing other guests.
Excellent service at all times
Room needed some refurbishment
Comfortable room. Peaceful location. Helpful staff. Spa.
EV charging needs to improve
EE phone signal was garbage, nothing hotel can do but huge inconvenience especially when trying to book travel.
The spa is lovely & a really well equipped gym. All staff were very friendly. Food was delicious. Couldn’t fault the hotel
There wasn’t anything
Location was good
Very tired. Very dated.
Good service. Nice location. No AC in rooms or breakfast hall. Grounds a bit tired.
Nice room, although it was very small for the price. I would have expected hot chocolate and decaf tea in the room at this price point. Unfortunately, the shower had soap scum that clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the shower gel container was empty, so we couldn’t use it. The bed was also very small, with my husband’s legs hanging over the edge. We also found a wine gum under the desk, which was disappointing and suggests the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. On the positive side, there were great gluten-free options at breakfast, and the service was excellent. We also used the Spa facilities which were nice however the jacuzzi was full with the same people the whole time we were there so sadly we didn’t get the opportunity to use this facility. Perhaps there should be some signage to say people only stay in for a max period of time eg 15 minutes so that everyone gets the chance to use all the facilities especially when only staying the one night like we were. I have seen this idea used in other spa’s with success. Overall nice hotel and would stay again.
Wonderful stay! This is a family owned hotel and every single staff member we met went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely stay from the restaurant staff, breakfast staff and groundsmen who have worked at the hotel for 40 years...such a fantastic venue!
Attending a friends wedding at Moor hall hotel and stayed for just one night. As this was a 4* hotel we were surprised by the absence of a fridge in the room and no air conditioning. A fan was supplied but this did little to cool the room down in such a hot and muggy period of weather making our nights sleep quite unsettled and uncomfortable at times. The hotel itself, the grounds and woodland walks were fabulous, especially the sunken garden where the wedding took place. The service from all the staff impeccable from arrival to departure. An enjoyable stay only let down by the 2 points mentioned above.
Nice and clean
Me and my sister enjoyed an amazing meal at the oak room on the 21st August, can’t fault the food, staff or environment. Was wonderful! Would defo return and try out the rest of the menu as it was so hard to choose but very happy with our starters, main & even room for dessert as we couldn’t resist! We had £36 each to spend from our Wowcher deal which was more than enough to choose a delicious main which was all good value. We had a comfortable stay in one of the twin rooms, the staff made an extra special touch to my sisters birthday adding a happy birthday sign in chocolate with a few little treats on the side, breakfast the next day was very tasty especially the sausages! Can’t vault the staff in the breakfast room always working hard and accommodating to guest. We also got to use the spa area which was lovely and relaxing. Again staff very helpful. We ended our stay having a few cocktails on the lawn which was lovely in the sun and got to witness a wedding taking place. All in all a good night & day. Will definitely return.
We went as a family today for Sunday lunch at the carvery. Food was wonderful service and staff were poor and useless. We arrived at 1 when it opened which seemed chaotic. The staff were flustered and appeared unorganised with the amount of people arriving all at the same time. There were 6 adults and 1 child and 1 highchair. We were seated on a table made for 6 adults and it was a complete squash. We kept having to move the high chair to get out for food as there was a table right next to us. We ordered hot starters and were told to go up for salads. We then had to ask them if we could order drinks. I had finished my starter by the time the drinks arrived. The carvery was chaos due to the fact everyone had arrived at 1pm most people went up for food at the exact same time. The plates were kept warm but when I asked for a cold plate for my 4 year old it took 2 of them to sort. The food itself was lovely and very generous portions. Nobody came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks and due to the lack of space we decided to take dessert outside. There are definitely some improvements needed or further training and I feel staggering arrivals would definitely help the staff and the waiting when it comes to food. This was our first return in many years and I feel they are lacking in some touches that would really make it a nicer place. Even my 4 year old commented on the fact the hand soap in the toilet didn’t smell very nice 😂 overall was a poor experience and don’t think I’d rush back
My husband and I went for a lovely meal at the Oak Room Brasserie to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We chose Moor Hall because our wedding was at Moor Hall 20 years ago. The service and the food were still to a high standard and we would recommend the restaurant if you’re celebrating something special (or even if you just fancy a lovely meal!)
A properly run, maintained, staffed and managed family owned hotel. Things one would hope for but rarely find these days. Really enjoyable stay in a hotel that makes you feel welcome and valued. All the staff were engaged, friendly and helpful. A small issue with the showerhead was fixed the next day. Large comfortable room, with a sofa and floor to ceiling curtains. Cotton robes provided. Breakfast was excellent - attentive staff meant no waiting for hot drinks to be brough to the table and everything was restocked quickly. The best bread we've ever had at a hotel breakfast! Fresh grapefruit slices prepared expertly and a very good range of quality hot and cold food. Swimming pool area was very well maintained. The terrace is a delightful place for drinks and the restaurant was stylish yet comfortable. Very good food and very good waiting staff. Quiet location but easy access to Birmingham. Would definitely want to stay here again.
The bar area was good with a lovey terrace.
The room was small and under a staircase which proved noisy. Didn't feel it had had the best of cleans between guests either.
Had a lovely time here this week. The staff were all very friendly and supportive. The location next to the golf course was peaceful and relaxing. Finally, the facilities were lovely too, really enjoyed our meal and hospitality at The Oak Room Brasserie. Would definitely recommend.
The room was comfortable and adequate for our requirements. The breakfast had a good choice to select from. The bar facilities were cosy and friendly
For the purpose of our stay there wasn't anything we didn't like
most of the staff were excellent. The bar menu was good and the food we ordered both Thursday evening and Friday lunch was good.
A mix up at reception concerning my credit card prepayment caused a lot of problems and staff refused to serve us anything . I had to go to reception twice to sort it out, such a shame as once sorted the service was good. Small double room was very small with bed against the wall. Even though in a heat wave radiators were on in the corridor ! Very tired furnishings especially in the shared spaces , worn carpets on the stairs. For the cost was not up to expectations . Bread choice at breakfast limited was this really a 4 star hotel..
Beautiful place, interesting building and history. Staff were lovely, room clean and comfortable.
Room was clean and tidy. On the whole, the staff was very friendly and efficient, particularly the breakfast staff who were fabulous and a credit to the hotel. In particularly the cooked breakfast was delicious, with fabulous ingredients Really enjoyed the garden space, with the lovely walk. I was staying with a friend, but I can absolutely see what a beautiful place it would be for a wedding.
My mine grumble was the heat in the room. As Britain was undergoing a heat wave, there was no AC in the room and we were super hot, with only a small window to allow air in. We found a fan in the cupboard, but quite honestly it didn't help much. It would also be nice to have a little fridge in the room.
Location
Cleanliness very poor. Some staff very good but some very poor
Staff of all disciplines were excellent.
Had a gorgeous birthday evening dinner . The room and location is amazing, the staff attentive, kind and helpful and the food excellent , very impressed. The service by Orla, Jake & Lukas was very very good. They made us feel so welcome. Very nice venue for a special meal.
Came back again on out 1st wedding anniversary after getting married here last year. Service was impeccable and room fantastic, but the meal in the oak room and breakfast in the country kitchen were incredible
We had a lovely visit to Moor Hall Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. The service was excellent, with friendly, attentive staff who made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. There was a great choice of food, and everything we had was enjoyable and beautifully presented. The setting is lovely, with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that made the whole experience even more special. Overall, a fantastic experience with excellent food, wonderful service and a beautiful setting. We would happily visit again and would definitely recommend Moor Hall Restaurant.
We had dinner on the Sunday evening and can confirm that the quality of the meal was excellent with service to match. We are looking forward to visiting again.
I enjoyed the stay apart from the noise from the upstairs bedroom as the the rooms are not soundproof.
The food is awful…. Under cooked carrots inedible fennel - over cooked salmon!!! Sent it back twice - involved the duty manager - came back inedible for the second time!!!! We will not be going back !!!! If you’ve booked I’d cancel!!!
We booked our local hotel to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary it was perfect the hotel even put a card and a plate of chocolate and strawberries to mark the occasion. Which was a lovely touch. Staff, room and oak room for dinner was lovely.
Located close to where we needed to be for a wedding.
The room we booked was a superior room non smoking, we got given a room that stank of smoke, you could see the colour of the walls in the bathroom were brown or starting to go brown in places because of cigarettes. The aircon didn’t work, and the shower wasn’t the best pressure. We were disappointed by the stay and did not think it was worth £205 we paid.
I booked the summer spritz afternoon I had a lovely day booked back massage treatment with Winnie it was amazing received a aperol spritz and feta with flatbread for late lunch
We stayed for two nights with our family and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and makes a fantastic first impression. Check-in was friendly and efficient and there was plenty of parking, which made arriving completely stress-free. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable sofa and seating area overlooking the stunning gardens. It was spotlessly clean and there were lots of thoughtful touches, including plenty of tea, biscuits and even hot chocolate for the children. We stayed during a particularly hot spell, so the two fans provided in the room were very welcome. As we were celebrating our child's birthday, the hotel also left a lovely welcome plate, which was a really kind gesture and much appreciated. The bathroom was large and, while perhaps a little dated, that's really being picky. It certainly didn't detract from what was an excellent stay. Breakfast was outstanding. The selection was fantastic, with little touches like local honey on the comb making it feel that bit more special. On our first morning we were served by a wonderful lady who told us she was retiring that week. Sadly, we didn't get her name, but she was warm, funny, incredibly helpful and an absolute delight. She will be a real loss to the hotel. We also made use of the swimming pool, which was a huge hit with the children. The robes and slippers provided for the adults in the room were another lovely touch and made using the facilities even more enjoyable. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and it was excellent. Compliments to the chef, my chicken pie was absolutely delicious and the white Rioja on the wine list was superb. However, the highlight of the evening was the lovely young waitress who looked after us. She was so engaging with our children and made us all feel incredibly welcome. The hotel should be proud of the staff they've chosen they really make the experience special. Sitting outside in the beautiful gardens with a glass of wine was simply magical. It was one of those moments that makes you think, "I'd get married all over again just to have a setting like this!" The hotel was peaceful and quiet and we all enjoyed an excellent night's sleep. If your idea of luxury is ultra-modern décor with minimalist styling, the bedrooms may not be to everyone's taste. However, if you value comfort, cleanliness, exceptional service, beautiful surroundings and genuine hospitality, you would be hard pushed to find fault here. We had a wonderful stay, have already recommended Moor Hall to friends visiting the area and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Na
Our whole experience was fantastic. The grounds are beautiful. The spa was great, the gym was fully equipt. Our room was nice and clean, It had everything we needed including a fan. The food was 1st class and the staff cannot be faulted. The only con I have was the robe was old and ripped with stains. Other than that, we had a great time and will be returning.
Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, only one room suitable for a wheelchair guest There are ground floor rooms , but not suitable bathroom for wheelchair users Overall we had a lovely party , the food buffet was good quality, The setting is gorgeous, we didn’t use the leisure centre or spa It was booked for two 40th and a 60th birthday party Thank you very much for making it a lovely experience We stayed over for one night
Booked for an evening meal in The Oak Room Brasserie with friends for our wedding anniversary. Good choice on the menu, food was excellent as usual and the staff helpful, pleasant and efficient with their service. Will certainly book again.
We used a wowcher to book dinner and bed and breakfast. The evening went well from arrival atthe Oak Room resturant and being shown to our table to climbing the stairs* to our room *literally- there is no lift!) Service was attentive without being intrusive. We had the olives and chicken wings as starters. The sole dish for main which was beautiful, and fruit platter desert. We both had wine, my partner the Zinfadel Rose and me the, Pino Girgio, White We had coffee after. Our "wowcher" covered the food, and a modest extra covered the drinks. Would definitely recommend and would dine there again if invited
The location and grounds of the hotel were very nice and the entrance looks lovely as you drove up to it.
Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing for several reasons. Although it was a very hot day and evening, none of the rooms we booked had air conditioning. The rooms became extremely hot, and despite opening the windows as much as possible, there was very little airflow, making them quite uncomfortable. As a disabled guest, who had given the hotel prior notice of my accessibility issues, I also found the accessibility incredibly poor. There were no ground-floor twin rooms available when we arrived at 12:30pm, so we were allocated a first-floor room. Unfortunately, there was no lift, only several flights of stairs, which made accessing our room difficult and inconvenient. We had also booked dinner at the Oak Restaurant in advance. We were required to pay a deposit and pre-order our meals, so it was very disappointing to arrive and be told that some of the dishes we had already selected were unavailable. It seemed strange to ask guests to choose and pay in advance if those choices could not be guaranteed. The most concerning issue occurred at checkout. We paid our bill at reception using Apple Pay on the card machine, but the hotel also attempted to take payment using the card originally used to make the booking, resulting in a duplicate charge of over £200 being placed on our account. We were told the pending transaction would automatically be released within around 10 days, but we couldn’t understand how this had happened when the bill had already been paid in person. After making a complaint and contacting both our bank and the hotel’s accounts manager, the duplicate payment was finally released after four days. While the issue was eventually resolved, it caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience. Overall, there were several avoidable issues during our stay that significantly affected our experience.
Ok
Ok
Overall, decent, especially given the dearth of choices in the area. Staff were pleasant.
Quite dated and basic, but worst of all, no aircon - given increasing prevalence of heatwaves amid climate change, it’s time to start investing; fan helped but wasn’t adequate. Rooms lack a refrigerator; staff did quickly provide us one upon request. It’s a destination for golfers, but otherwise isolated.
The location was perfect only 20 minutes away but it felt like you were in middle of nowhere. Our room wax lovely and queit with 4 poster bed and everything you could need, clean, ground floor. If I had one negative and that is just a personal choice the bed was too soft for me but it did not detract anything from our stay. We had rest before exploring, calm and peaceful. There was chocolates in room as it was my husbands 70th surprise birthday present. We used the pool, gym and facilities. I chilled by the pool reading and we walked in the grounds and found the sunken garden and finished off having superb meal in the brasserie restaurant. Food was perfect and service received from Jake and team was brilliant. It was calm, relaxing and great service all round. Would highly recommend and not overly expensive. Breakfast was also good, plenty of choice and great service. Overall we had a really enjoyable stay, the hotel is extremely clean, well maintained all the staff were friendly and helpful, we would definitely return and plan to do so in the future. We both agreed that we felt totally relaxed by our experience and of course the weather helped. Once we arrived everything we needed was on ground floor and easy to access.
My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay. The room , the gardens, the spa, the food and best of all, the Staff. Absolutely fantastic. Quality throughout, staff are amazing. Service impeccable! Vegan food for both of us no trouble. Unfortunately, no slimming drugs provided to help us shed the many lbs gained!!!! Vegan breakfast, oh my goodness. Best we've had after being vegan for 23 years. We were very sad to leave , but it gives us a focus to save to return. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything. People spend mega money going abroad to what they think are fancy hotels. All that is just glitter. Scratch the surface of Moorhall and all you find is lovely quality, all the way through not just for show. Do yourself a favour and a make visit. Cant thank you enough, you made my wife's birthday xxx
We were served at the bar by, Jake, Libby, Rose and Leah, and all four provided amazing service and were extremely personable. I really enjoyed my experience here. These staff are a huge credit to the team!!
We went to Moor Hall for Afternoon Tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I am coeliac so required gluten free. Service and food and drink were excellent as always. The staff were very helpful with my request to change one of the sandwich fillings, and the prosecco was lovely. A very enjoyable way to celebrate 47 years of marriage.
Hotel is in a beautiful setting and the building is lovely. Public areas and facilities are impressive.
For the price I paid and the number of stars ('Premier Collection'), I expected better. The rooms are OK but they feel 'tired' and are probably overdue refurbishment. There was no air conditioning, although a fan was provided. The window catch didn't work so I struggled to open the window (room was unbearably hot) and then I couldn't secure it again! Being by a flat roof, this was a security concern. Cleanliness of the room was fair but superficial - I was not impressed by having to unblock the shower trap and get the shower thermostat working properly.
When staying at Moor Hall for the weekend we always book a Sunday Dinner in the Country Kitchen as we both like a Carvery. The staff were all very friendly and the service was very good as usual. Comes highly recommended 👌
Car charging and location
The environment was not conducive to a Hotel with Spa facilities and should have been calming and relaxing No air conditioning in the room or the breakfast area A walk-in shower would have been more suitable in a cramped area and the toilet was difficult to access because it was behind the bathroom door. The tiling and grouting under the sink area was not up to standard It was difficult to get a parking space and was tight when manoeuvring the car into a space The food provided was basic and choices were limited
The building itself and the staff were great. The pool was nice. Breakfast was good.
The room was small, very hot (no aircon and just one fan) the flush on the loo didn't work properly, the bed springs were shot so it was very uncomfy.
This was booked as a surprise birthday from my partner. A picturesque view and the staff and facilities could not be faulted. Possibly needs air conditioning in these hot times but there was a fan provided in the room. The staff were friendly, professional and welcoming, would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you
Such a beautiful and great place. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Food in the restaurant 1st class!
Lovely atmosphere, afternoon tea was nice with a relaxing stroll after through their grounds, staff were very attentive and polite
Please note that this review is for the carvery at the Country Kitchen restaurant only because it was my first experience. I have long been a visitor of the Bar 1905 at Moor Hall which is a disaster in terms of service (90% of the time there is no-one behind the bar to serve). The Country Kitchen experience however was amazing. Very reasonably priced 3-course carvery, all cooked to perfection, with a lovely salad bar to start and a buffet of desserts. I am gluten free and the staff were exceptional, telling me everything I couldn't have which is actually very helpful. When it came to the puddings, none of them were gluten free so they provided an alternative which was fabulous. The lovely chef carving the meat was so friendly and helpful, he deserves special mention. All in all a lovely Sunday roast (which I was not looking forward to because the weather was so warm) and we will be back! Thank you.
Lovely grounds and near to where I needed to be.
If I’m honest the bedroom (single) I was in needed a bit of TLC apart from that all was good
We have stayed here twice now and on both occasions we have received amazing service. The atmosphere is relaxed, there are plenty of staff around who are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The hotel is located next to a golf course with a lovely garden seating area. Our room was large with all the amenities you could want. The restaurant has a traditional feel with wood panelling and the food was excellent with lots of choice and again great service from the staff. I would definitely recommend a visit for a short break.
We visited the Country Kitchen for a Sunday Carvery. The staff were great especially the chef who was very friendly. The portions were extremely generous with great quality meat. There was also an amazing selection for the starters and desserts
Lovely breakfast and eve meal
My room had no view so asked to be moved
Location
Very poor value for money. No air conditioning! Room outdated. Minute shower.
Nothing
The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in over fifty years of travel. The shower was so small it was almost impossible to turn around. In terms of value for money it could be described as a "rip-off"
We appreciated the spacious room, which despite no a/c in the heatwave was relatively cool, it was well equipped and had a very comfortable bed. We had a small issue with a queue for breakfast when we needed to get to work but this was resolved effectively by the staff who were all very helpful. Overall we found the staff all positive and solution-focused, helped make it a good stay.
Nothing
Booked the Spa & Afternoon tea package. Visited a few years back and they have made some nice improvements......new lockers, along with a refurbishment for powder room and pool. Really enjoyed our visit, felt really looked after by the staff. Special thanks to Matt the hotel manager and the lady behind reception Henriette, they both really looked after us.
My wife and I had afternoon tea in the Oak Room. It was a very pleasant experience, and we were well looked after. Recommended
Location
Bathroom not clean, needed two attempts to reach satisfactory level.
The room was ok and the breakfast service staff were excellent
On a very hot day the airconditiong could have been put on for our arrival so the room temperature was not so unbearable.
Our Group of Senior citizens thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and carvery on Sunday 28th June. The staff were very attentive and most pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and were alway on hand to assist us.
I am getting so used to writing poor reviews of this hotel these days and it is such a shame. So here goes just arrived and too early for room and have been told and I quote “you cannot use the spa until you are checked in on the grounds of health and safety”. Yet, having just checked with the spa as long as we pay £15 each surprise, surprise we can get in. So moral to you all, don’t come early unless you are prepared to shell out more money.
A dreadful spa experience – this is not a spa. On arrival, we were given threadbare robes and then discovered that the steam room wasn’t working. We were never informed of this when booking over the phone or upon arrival, despite it being a key facility. The sauna is tiny and was constantly overcrowded, making it impossible to use. There were also nowhere near enough loungers for guests. From around 3pm onwards, the pool area was invaded by screaming children from the hotel, completely destroying any chance of relaxation. Again, this was never mentioned when we booked. Our afternoon tea consisted of a dry piece of cake served in a room that felt more like a 1970s staff canteen than a spa lounge. The whole experience was a comedy of errors. To make matters worse, I emailed the manager afterwards and received an ignorant response, with no meaningful attempt to resolve the complaint or offer compensation. Avoid this spa experience like the plague.
The staff in the hotel are amazing, helpful and smiley. The facilities are good and the food very good especially the breakfast. The beds are very hard, I needed to take the duvet out of the cover and use as a mattress topper and with no air conditioning and limited window opening, this place is boiling, so maybe not a stay for when it is really hot. The Guest Internet is also very poor and not reliable, very frustrating. Overall this is a good hotel and the staff really go above and beyond. I had a problem with a spa treatment that was finally resolved, good management prevailed.
My sister and I treated my mom to a belated birthday afternoon tea. It was lovely as always as we've been many times before. We had the entire Oak Room to ourselves. Definitely worth the price.
We hosted a corporate event at Moor Hall and had a brilliant experience. The venue has a lot of character and beautiful grounds, which made for a great setting. The team were excellent throughout—very organised and incredibly helpful both in the lead-up and on the day. A special mention to Kirsty for her support during the planning process, Corey for his help with set-up the evening before, and Beth, who was fantastic on the day keeping everything running smoothly. Overall, we couldn’t fault the experience—everything was well organised and we’d definitely recommend Moor Hall for corporate events.
A Local Spa Break Away - Good Value for Money for overnight Stay. Our room was upgraded on arrival - inclusive of drink making facilities and robes. Spa: Included were 1x 1hour treatment each with our stay and we we able to book a double treatment room. The Spa/ Treatment staff were very attentive and treatments received were excellent. (Both chose different types of massage) . The Spa facilities and pool were very clean. lovely to have hot drink facilities and a quiet relaxation room, also very clean and welcoming. The only thing we didn't find great was the quality of the Spa towels, very thin (old) and hard to dry off with after a pool visit. Dining: We ate lunch on the terrace which was very busy due to having a few business events on and a Wedding but the bar and food service was excellent. Evening Meal: In the Oak Room - again could not fault the restaurant service or the food, both excellent, husband said it was the best steak he has had anywhere, cooked to perfection. Presentation of food was awesome and the service from the servers second to none. Breakfast : Lovely range of food at the hot buffet, majority cooked to order if you wish , along with different cereals, only issue here was, could not find any oat milk. They were incredibly busy but was not long before they found and cleared a table for us. Room: was upgraded to a Deluxe garden view room, overall the room was nice, though a little dated and some areas not cleaned as well as could've been. We did speak to Reception about this on checkout and they said they would address these with Housekeeping. If it was a longer stay we would've brought the issues to the attention of Housekeeping straight away. It wasn't anything that majorly impacted our one night stay but attention to detail could've been better (bathroom cleanliness & overall room cleanliness) as you expect cleanliness for £500 or £5000. Overall a nice relaxing break, friendly attentive staff and excellent food. Good quality stay for not a kings ransom.
Location Ambience Food, especially the breakfast Spa
Shower over the bath rather than a walk-in shower Limited storage in the superior/deluxe room- only 3 very small / narrow drawers and wardrobe.
Clean environment.
It’s business oriented
Lovely room and great location.
Bar service was painfully slow on the Sunday afternoon however there was a function on so I understood why.
We had afternoon tea, which was lovely, plenty of food both savoury and sweet and everything was fresh also plenty of coffee. The staff were lovely. Would certainly recommend the hotel.
Massage - The therapist assigned displayed unprofessional behaviour, including noticeable body odour, burping, and yawning during the treatment. My friends massage was equally concerning, as she has since experienced back pain, despite regularly receiving massages every four weeks without any prior issues. Spa - The facilities themselves were inadequate. The space was overcrowded, with very limited seating available, leaving us with no option but to stand in the pool area. Meal - £38 dinner allowance applied solely to food. Not even soft drinks included! Blade of beef and duck dish did not come with any gravy or just as advertised so had to ask for this. Yes not hard but the price you pay you shouldn’t have to ask. By far the worst experience ever and was given a patronising response of spa treatments and a discount.
Our stay in room 94 was very comfortable on Sunday 14th .A perfect super king bed with immaculate bedding. Overlooked the car park and thought it may be noisy, but it was not. Could have done with a suite case stand and possibly a toilet brush in the bathroom. Shower temperature was fine but the bath water was very hot , but could be cooled and regulated once I realised how hot it was coming through at. My partner said that it could be quite difficult to get out of the shower as there is no hand grab, which would be useful for exiting the shower to be honest. The meal in the country kitchen on Sunday was very nice and the staff very pleasant. Had breakfast on Monday which was excellent, full English and continental to choose from, muffins ,croissants , local honey , multigrain and white cottage loaf style bread..coffee was great too. There happened to be music and outdoor fun for families to enjoy this weekend and added to a lovely stay.
I had the most wonderful time at Moor Hall with my friends celebrating my 70th birthday with a delightful afternoon tea. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious. The cakes were exquisitely decorated and beautifully presented. Keira , the events co-ordinator went beyond expectations in advising me of the menu choices and table settings. I felt very relaxed with the organisation. A big thank you to the chef on that day ( May 9th) for all the changes he made to accomodate my friends' choices. Moor Hall was the perfect setting with the most wonderful and helpful staff. I have made memories that I will treasure forever.
Had the most fabulous day for my friend's birthday. We had an afternoon tea. It was wonderful. I'd choose Moor Hall every time. The staff are excellent. We had an extra special waiter called Dom who went all out to make it so special. We will be back very soon and include an overnight stay too. Never want to leave xxxx
Visited Moor Hall for a weekend with friends - set in lovely grounds, main hotel was attractive, bedrooms were a good size but bathrooms were a bit dated. Food in the main restaurant was good. Special mention to Phoebe and Elia who looked after us really well. The biggest praise needs to go to Skye who did a fantastic job of managing an extremely busy Sunday breakfast service. Amongst all the madness, she even remembered our hot drinks order from the Saturday morning. She was calm under pressure and did everything with good humour! A major asset to the hotel.
What a lovely spa. The pool was warm which is a nice change. When we went to the Belfry the pool was freezing cold. The templespa treatments are really good. we had the drift away massage, so relaxing. The therapist was amazing (Shanon). We were greeted by the Spa manager, he gave us a tour of the spa which was a nice touch. The food was better this time than our previous visit (Wagyu burger is perfection). The gym has had an upgrade since last time, looks good. Cant wait until next visit.
We recently had our wedding at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organised, making the whole day run smoothly and allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment. The staff were outstanding throughout the entire process. Every member of the team was friendly, professional, and attentive, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for us and our guests. The food was absolutely amazing, receiving so many compliments from our guests. The quality, presentation, and service were all excellent. We genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. Moor Hall Hotel & Spa provided the perfect setting for our special day, and we are so grateful to the whole team for making it such a memorable occasion. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue.
Went for an afternoon tea for a friends 60th birthday. The food was lovely they catered for our veggie friends and one of us who had an allergy. Staff were very friendly kept us topped up with tea and coffee, nothing was too much for them. Fab afternoon was had by all. Plenty of food, all took food home.
