Reviewed Aug 28, 2026The house was perfect for our family of 6. It was warm with double glazing and a choice of heat pump or fire place. Having 2 bathrooms was great and the floors were heated. The kitchen, dining and living room were plenty big enough for us all to be together. The 3 bedrooms were big enough to store luggage. Beds were comfortable. Washer and dryer was very convenient. Shame the weather wasn't good to use the BBQ and outdoor area. Off street parking for our 2 cars. Really enjoyed our stay and would love to come again.
Did get some traffic noise in the morning, so we knew when it was time to get up. Nothing to complain about.

Reviewed Jun 28, 2026Great location, perfect for our group stay of 4 people. Was clean, spacious, well equipped, and comfortable. Wood fire was a bonus with plenty of supplies available. Shower pressure was great and underfloor heating was a plus. Heating options was good. Big windows for the view. Short walk to town and lake and a close drive to Cardrona ski resort. Was also very quiet No complaints here.

Reviewed Mar 15, 2026Great house....size and layout of the house and location to walk into Town Centre fabulous. Amenities and additional extras like salt, pepper and oil was great.
Agree with other reviewd, sadly traffic noise is loud as it's on the main road in and out of town. Our main annoyance with this property is we were unable to pay via booking.com and received an email 24 hours before checking in to advise there would be a 2.5% card surcharge and even higher for AMEX cards with the company that manages this property. When we asked for other payment options we were advised we could pay by bank transfer or cash, but as we were international travellers it was too late for us to organise as we were already in NZ. We asked twice why we couldn't pay via booking.com as we've had with all other properties around the world, but they didn't respond to this request. This fee added an extra NZ $28 to our accommodation cost.

Reviewed Jun 10, 2025Location is within walking distance to both lake and town area. The size of the cottage is just nice for my family and a nice backyard in which we can enjoy our breakfast in the morning.
The water heating system is a bit slow, my 2 kids took their shower and ran out of hot water. So the rest have to wait for a minimum of 2 hours for the system to heat up again.

The living room was spacious and comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a day out. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the famous Wanaka Tree and close to everything else. Reviewed Jan 12, 2025The house was lovely and big. Modern kitchen and 3 nice bedrooms. Having 2 bathrooms is always a bonus. We used the kitchen for cooking an evening meal on 1 of our 2 nights. It is on a corner with a busy street, so if you are a light sleeper bring some earplugs.
That there was no lockbox for the key and we had to go and pick it up somewhere.

Reviewed Jun 28, 2024We have visited Wanaka on numerous occasions and know the area well. Dragonfly cottage is a lovely 3 bedroom house about 550m from the centre of Wanaka. The house was clean, warm and comfortable with easy access to the lake front and the New World grocery store.
The location on the main road into Wanaka lets the house down, if you are a light sleeper it will be an issue as two of the three bedrooms face the road side and it was extremely noisy at all hours of the night and day, however for the price its potentially worth it as it was excellent value and better than staying in apartment and it has a washer and a dryer which is always an essential with a family. The other main flaw was the bed in the main bedroom, it was I think only a queen bed and was way too small.

Reviewed Feb 5, 2024The location was great and walking distance to the lake. The house was beautiful and warm. The beds were comfortable. The staff went above and beyond after there was a mess when we arrived from previous guests. I rang the staff a few hours into our stay to let them know the problem. Straight away they asked if we were happy to stay the night or we could move. We decided to stay and we woke up the next morning and I rang them and we were happy to just deal with the mess as we were out the whole day into the evening. They sent someone down straight away to have a look and whoever the girl was that come down was so so lovely, and was really wanting to make us happy for our trip and insisted we took the upgrade which was only a few doors down which and really really nice. Would recommend this beautiful house

Reviewed May 7, 2023location was great, easy walk to all places. loved the deck.. bedding was very comfortable and the house on a whole was very very clean. liked the bathroom floor heating. The rooms were large and just lovely. plenty of room for the whole family. beautiful home.
4 channels on the tv only, which just pixelated the whole time so frustrating. If you stay in a really lovely home Sky would of been nice. it was the only place we stayed in a three week trip that didn't have sky installed. Definitely hated the fact that we had to pay for WFII, which didn't work anyway. Just couldn't log on.. When you are working and have teenagers that was really aggravating. Called the office and was told we should be checked that fact before we booked and it was booking.com which should of stated that fact. Wont make that mistake when booking again, however reception not that helpful. A few cooking trays in the kitchen were dirty. Also the dryer/washing machine was dirty and I had to clean it before we used it.

a few things: air conditioning was not very cool. took about 5 hours to cool the lounge area after entering the house at 3pm with curtains pulled back allowing heat to penetrate. also there needs to be some kitchen basics like plastic wrap, foil, provided. but the main complaint relates to being charged for Wi-Fi usage. $10/day. Wi-Fi should be provided as a standard.
