Very friendly and helpful staff. Room good standard.
Good location, clean, great staff..
Always use this hotel . Drop bags of as we traveled by train. Then visit family who live in John Bright Street.
The property was great for the station what i didn’t like was there was loud music on below but overall i enjoyed my stay.
The property was old and certainly dated. The staff appeared to be just filling in time to get paid. The button on the toilet cistern stuck and when i reported it the reply was tomorrow or tonight i said we would have a toilet for the night so he came and spent at least 15 minutes to fix it. The first room they showed us was extremely poor and we refused it and took another room. The bed was terrible. The photos of the place may not be forged but certainly enhanced. WILL NOT BE BACK
The hotel was clean and comfortable. On a stiflingly hot night, air conditioning would have been lovely. But I managed to open a couple of windows. It was great to be able to make tea and I especially valued having a Bible in the drawer - lovely friendly touch and I opened it at random and found it calming to sit there reading a Psalm!
Title says it all
Noisy outside, but that is out of your control! Great stay, will use again! Thank you.
This hotel’s only redeeming feature is its proximity to Birmingham New Street Station. It’s not been invested in for years. Smells like a care home, is noisy and lumpy pillows. If you can sleep anywhere and don’t care for comfort it’s for you. But if you have any more time to walk I would advise avoiding this place. Feels like a hostel.
Noisy. Horrible.
The upstairs guest were VERY noisy, it sounded as if they were jumping and falling on the ground at times. The walls and ceilings were paper thin and you could here other guests sneeze and phone alarms going off. It was also very hot in the rooms with no fan or air con, so sleeping here was extremely difficult.
Checked in and asked if possible to have a double bed instead he said he only had 5 rooms left and couldn't move me this was at 10pm. I went up to the room and it was hot I could barely open the windows and the TV didn't work there were stains all over the floor. And a disgusting stench that smelled like cockroaches coming from the drains so I called downstairs and he came up I told him I wasn't about to walk on that floor with my bare feet and the smell was awful he said that the rooms are cleaned everyday fixed the TV and left. I suffered all night holding my breath every time I went to pee in the night. I complained to the lady on reception the next day and she gave me an email address. I had to go to the wetherspoons across the street to brush my teeth and have a sponge bath. Disgusting furniture in disrepair, walls gashes all over, hair on the sheet. If I wasn't so exhausted would have put up an argument but he was only one there.
Very convenient for New Street Station with one of the entrances opposite. Very clean, quirky with a bit of character thrown in. The big plus for me was opening the wooden sash windows for fresh air. It will be noisy if you’re street facing (take earplugs), it’s a city centre location after all. Breakfast available in the station opposite, tea and coffee in room.
Great location so close to New st station
Bed uncomfortable
The bed was so uncomfortable didnt get a good nights sleep
Hotel was very 'tired' - also, a small stain on the bedsheet, only one soft pillow and the bathroom basin was badly chipped. The whole establishment looked to be in need of a full refurbishment.
Mattress in need of replacement. Uneven and uncomfortable. Elevator out of service for departure, had to drag suitcases down 3 flights. Not easily accessible from train station with wheeled luggage.
It was cen5ral and near for my purpose.
From Maj and all receptionist, bar staff, Jodie & Ann, the cleaners you couldn't find nicer people, they all go above and beyond their duties to make you feel welcome and comfortable, Rooms were cleaned everyday, room facilities were fine, the hotel and Bar are situated on Station street, next to New Street station, great location. The bar (Station Bar) prices are ridiculously cheap, Coors £3 a pint, Carling £3.85, Disabled parking literally 50 yards away in Dudley street car park (unlimited stay) free. Maj you have a great team behind you, keep up the good work, see you all soon 👍
Very convenient for New Street station!
What a dump. Dated, tatty and dirty. Tiny ancient lift. If the TV remotes was anything to go by the place is filthy. Street noise, door slamming . The pub seems to be home to some very dodgy locals. No food at all, not even a vending machine. Just enough milk for one cuppa. No USB ports. Ancient and filthy carpets, can feel the springs in the bed. Horrid smell in bathroom. Needs a complete update. Staff ok and good location but I won’t be back. Its awful. Booked via work not my choice
Disgusting, dangerous and unfit for habitation.
Outrageous £350 per night for this Kip!!!
Close to grand central, good location. Staff were nice.
Great little hotel for the cost, perfectly situated for food and shopping in central Birmingham! Only gripe was the bed kept me up every hour as so uncomfortable!
Night stop before morning flight. Convenient for New Street station.
Difficult to find, is located in the back streets of the station. Difficult to gain access if arriving late. Had to wait a while to be let in the front door, which was locked. Room was clean and had the usual facilities. The bed was very hard, which I found very uncomfortable. There were door slamming at all times of the evening and night. The lift is very small and antiquated. A larger or disabled person would find it very difficult, if not impossible to access the lift. A wheelchair, for example, would not get through the gate of the lift. The parking is a local car park, which shuts in the evening. It was not explained to us very well and we mistakenly parked in the NCP car park opposite the one we should have used. We were told to put our registration in the machine at the desk to get 24hr parking for £8, which we did. As we had not realised we were in the incorrect car park, we then had to pay £16 for our overnight parking. If you are planning on using the car in the evening, don’t park in the other car park. I’m not sure what time it closes but we got back around 11.30pm, and it was shut, which is why we assumed it was the NCP car park.
I have read quite a few reviews from other's and I must admit, I am in complete shock, I booked in on 31st of January 2025, and was on the 4th floor which in all honesty wasn't good for my mobilty, so the following day I spoke to the Duty manager called Maj and he said to me Chris I will move you to a lower floor as soon as possible, and low and behold on the following Tuesday morning he gave me a room on the first floor, and every day the cleaners knock my door to see if room requires cleaning or if I need anything, Must point out my room is clean, no mould, no damp, just to finish off with the Bar (the station) again great staff, Bar Manager, Jodie, Emma and Anne just like Maj cannot do enough for you, Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Definitely be back 💯%
Clean and warm ,staff friendly
This hotel was in the heart of Birmingham City Centre and punched above its weight. It was comfortable, close to everything, in a quaint older building and the staff were very friendly.
Nice hotel, clean and tidy
Great hotel ,central location and easy check in
Next to New St station so it's central but hectic
Very helpful staff Cleanliness excellent staff Quite location Walking distance to Birmingham bull open market with variety of fruits and vegetables Good transport and a walking distance to the national express coach
Really dirty and got stuck in the lift and nobody came to help
The hotel was very clean, The room was also clean and has everything that you would need. The only issues was that the public nearby parking in china town was closed when it said it was open online, not the fault of the hotel. The second issue was the TV only had one channel. But overall the receptionist was helpful and polite and great location.
Old, dingy, dark tatty room.
Bed comfy. Inadequate heating so room was cold. No heating in onsuite so very cold. Unable to watch TV as picture kept breaking up. Help was non existent.also no. food available Could not recommend
Worst hotel ever. Filfy, outdated and boiling hot room. Missing items in shower and taps, hairdryer not working. Extremely small lift. Pictures dont lie. I will request a refund. The only plus is location very close to the train station bilut if I stayed on the car park I would have better sleep than here. What a joke!
A very last minute booking on a tight budget. The hotel is incredibly basic, but clean and the service was good. I was road side at the hotel, and the window was single glazed and let in a lot of sound and cold. I didn't feel overly safe in the area as a lone female traveller but it is very central. I wouldn't choose to stay again, but if on a tight budget and you don't want any frills, this may meet your requirements. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful
The worst room ever. Not made for human use especially single bed rooms. The bed should be thrown away. Very old moldy, terrible hygiene and insects in the bed. I was counting the hours to leave. Never back there, rather spend the night in the streets
Hotel clean but in process of being repainted. Hotel not in nicest area but very close to bullring and practically opposite grand central station. Car park is a 5 minute walk away and you have to pay daily rate while it is cheaper it still adds to cost. Car park is secure but so secure we couldnt get back in as nobody answered the phone and we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for someone to coming out to get in.
This hotel exceeded all expectations with its impeccable service, stunning ambiance, and spotless rooms. The staff was incredibly attentive, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Highly recommended for a luxurious and hassle-free stay!
The reviews are too cynical about this place. It's a budget hotel right in front of the station. The friendly staff does the job! Don't expect anything too fancy, but for business purposes it's a catch.
Disappointed... Stayed here for two nights November 2024 , I was visiting the Christmas market, the hotel was right by the station so due to my mobility issues, it was a great location however .. very very basic, and inneed of a deep clean, has soon has you walk in very strong smell of new paint the workmen actually working during our visit , slapping on the paint , definitely not professional contractors it was a mess . In the room, beds were clean and towels , the bath had just been resealed, it was thick and again slapped on everywhere very poor , the floor was grubby in the corners, dirty marks around light switches and on the wall , tea tray coveted in stains , windows filthy dirty couldn't see through them , the window sill outside was littered with cigarette butts, chair by the desk had a huge hole in the seat , but the most shocking thing was Mice ..... 🐭.. every time we went out into the corridor we saw a mouse .. we paid £110 per night very over priced for the standard, we told reception about the mouse he just laughed .. The location was the only good thing about this place .
Lovely stay as always apart from having redecorating done throughout whilst still fully operating and we unfortunately had no knowledge of this till we arrived and painters everywhere , plastic on the floor , tape up the walls etc...paint fumes
The stay for the 2nd time was great Comfortable as always But unfortunately the bathroom wasn’t up to standards 1. The cleaner clearly missed some areas of the bath witch left black hairs over the bath 2.the sink didn’t keep water for a long time 3. The bathroom needs an up grade But overall was a great Stay
Convenient to the station and city center,
Truly awful.
The property is in serious need of updating. The bathroom has mould on the walls, once rolled down the blind would not go back up, there was no heating in the room and hairs left behind by the cleaners. No breakfast facilities but a bar open from noon. Rubbish was left out on the landing which made the corridors smell. Whilst I was on the 4th floor, I could still hear all the raucous from the street: cars revving, people shouting and police sirens. I was there for a conference which was within walking distance but I will stay further away from the city centre and the Comfirt Inn next time. A less than enjoyable stay.
Hiked prices because of an event. Bitten by bed bugs.
Older part of town. Very close to shopping and train station.
This quaint and fascinating hotel is well designed and comfortable. The bed was large warm and helped me sleep like a log. It's location to many Asian restaurants as well as being only a few steps from Birmingham new street station, The staff were very welcoming and polite. Check in is about 1pm left by 12 am the next day. Charming hotel with its own bar, also reasonable price on drinks. The room was spotless and immaculate. 5 stars
Just stayed in this hotel and it was terrible, the smell of damp hit you as you walked into reception, the lift looked like it would break down at any minute. The room was terrible again smelt of damp the linen didn’t look like it had been washed in a while, the room was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a good couple of weeks. Complained to the reception and got told that’s the way it is!! £134 per night was a joke
AVOID AVOID DO NOT STAY HERE ROOMS ARE DIRTY BATHROOMS DIRTY NET CURTAINS DIRTY EVEN SMELLS DIRTY DONT KNOW WHERE THE PIC'S FROM BUT DEFINITELY NOT THE COMFORT INN NOTHING COMFORT ABOUT IT COULDN'T WAIT TILL MORNING TO GET OUT AVOID AVOID!!!
I've stayed there quite a few times now I've had no problem the manager maj is spot on bloke helps u out good trip will definitely stay again close to new street station and they will keep your bags at no extra cost like some hotels convenient for night life of birmingham
They charged me twice for the room.
I got into my room and it smelt of cigarettes I opened the bathroom window and there was a bit of a the drain full of cigarette butts. I had a nap bed was OK but don't understand why it was a single plenty of room for a double. I went out a bit later around 8 I wasn't impressed with Birmingham I was nearly mugged hotel wasn't a problem but I decided to go back to Manchester. I went to check out gave my key in and the woman said you don't owe anything, no question on why have you checked out a day earlier.
Decent for the price. Private facilities and clean and bed was comfortable too
Well positioned for New Street Railway station, staff friendly and good price. No breakfast available. Clean rooms and bedding.
This was without a doubt the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. Dirty and incredibly noisy, the room was barely fit for human habitation. The only 'positive' is its proximity to the station. After complaining, I was given a 15% compensation refund.
It was good
Never Again
Staff is very nice, the room was clean and it is 2 min away from the station. However, the matrass& pillow were horrible. It was the first time I could not fall asleep because of that. The entire property needs a refurbishment. I could say it is ok for one night but unfortunately not even that.
The Comfort Inn Birmingham is an excellent choice for its prime location, just steps from the city center. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, making it a great value for money. Highly recommended
Visiting family near by
This was a mistake. The staff has threatened me and 'try' to physically assault me, byt misses due to being a lit on the heavy side
Stayed 3 nights in early August and fully recommend this hotel. Room and bathroom very clean. Beds comfortable. Adequate stock of tea, coffee etc. Excellent check in and out times. All staff friendly and welcoming. Thank you for lovely stay
Excellent staff, especially Mr. Majid and his Estonian colleague; they were courteous and very helpful. My room, which had a TV snd a coffee/tea service, and the bathroom was very clean and the bed linen crisp and clean. If you are especially a single traveler (as I was) and needing to stay near the New Street railway station (the main one), the Comfort Inn Birmingham is just a few steps away. The hotel sits on the edge of Chinatown, with excellent and reasonably priced Asian fare and low-key pubs. I felt safe, despite some non-threatening panhandling inside the station, which by the way has excellent security.
Stayed here a few times very convenient for the train station and in a good geographical area for the city centre. The hotel rooms could do with a face lift but for the money i paid was good value.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Comfort Inn Birmingham. The hotel offered excellent service, cozy rooms, and a convenient location. We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit. Highly recommend for a family visit… Great staff great room nice location
Very basic hotel. No luxuries. V convenient for the station.
The Comfort Inn Hotel exceeded my expectations with its clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast was a great start to the day, offering a variety of delicious options. Conveniently located, it provided excellent value for a pleasant stay.

They were efficient and thorough, ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment."
I'll be honest it's not the nicest hotel on the eyes, however, it offers a room for the night at an affordable cost. We have stayed in this hotel twice now for the cricket and both stays have been good. The rooms aren't the cleanest on the service but the beds are comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly, like the bar that this attached as well.
This hotel is close to the station, and the rooms are functional but looking pretty tired. The outside of the building looks run down, and the area is a bit run down and noisy at night. The staff are helpful and do their best.
Terrible not comfortable room it was a hobbit size room and I'm over 6ft. There was dodgy wiring for TV aerial and the TV did not work. The shower pole for holding the shower head was wobbly. Also expose wire for fire alarm. The hotel did not sell breakfast even though we were sold it through Hotels.com as bed and breakfast. Would never stay at the comfort inn again. And worst still your website will not allow me to add photos.
The only Comfort in Comfort Inn is the crispy clean sheets. Otherwise it is horribly overdue for redecorating. Never again.
It’s less than two minutes from new street station, I was a little hesitant to book but they were excellent! The rooms were clean, the service was good and the staff was more than accommodating and friendly. The lift is a bit cramped, but other than that it’s pretty good for how cheap it is. Highly Reccomend :)
The hotel is scruffy and in need of a massive refurbishment. We booked a twin room which had a 3rd bed unexpectedly crammed in. The bathroom smelled of mould and the bedroom smelled fusty. Opening the windows helped but there was lots of noise from the street. The bathroom was like a wet room. There was lots of mould on the window. It’s convenient for New Street Station but that’s about the only good thing about it.
Right next to Birmingham New Street station so perfect for an overnight stay before catching an early train. Room for clean and comfortable and really good value. Staff were friendly. Lift rather antiquated with the cage door on the ground floor being left open meant I had to struggle down the stairs with my case. Would stay here again,
Basic hotel, clean and tidy, okay for a one nighter when visiting for a show. Close to train station which was a bonus. Close to Symphony Hall.
…
One of the worst I have ever been.
The common areas very dated. On arrival lift not working and room on third floor. No bottled water in room. Very expensive for standard given. Room was clean but very noisy extractor fan in bathroom
The hotel was clean My room was dark the window was by a brick wall , I know that can’t be helped but it was so dark and felt down on you
I would recommend this hotel for someone wanting a place to sleep near the city centre. We stayed here four nights while we explored and it was brilliantly located for the trains, trams and walking. The lift was out of order when we arrived and the staff took all our luggage to our room for us, after switching us to a room on the first floor. The beds were comfortable and the bar area excellent. As it's located just behind New Street Station we were in China Town and the local restaurants were great.
I want full refund. Didn’t give me room with 2 beds as requested. Lift was not working. I have to lift heavy plugged to second floor. Room had molds. They put my luggage in a moldy space under stairs which was hot and my food items and chocolate got melted. My luggage are all smelling. Washroom was dirty. Room door was broken. Toilet flush was not working. Hotel staff were very rude and not cooperative. No support in bath tub. I slipped !! I am very disappointed and want full refund. Please, I have never done this but this time I am really disappointed and want my full money back. They didn’t give any shampoo. Tea Kettle was very dirty. Room had no common amenities. Very stingy Dirty room with dirty window and carpet.
We visit this Hotel a lot , but we felt this time it wasnt up to par . Have had better experiences.
Very dated and in need of updating, clean but an odour persisted through out our stay in the reception area Good location but very noisy at night
The hotel is in a good location. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar is open for limited time.
Staff are nice, it is clean, the bed is comfortable and good bathroom as well
This hotel waa appauling and not even cheap. It was smelly, dirty, poorly maintained.
Excellent proximity to new street train station bed and room lovely and clean staff nice but outside property at night I was a bit worried about safety
Stayed for weekend. Location is good as everything is walk distance for what you need. Employee's were good. Overall, its a decent Comfort Inn, nothing to complain about, but nothing that went above and beyond. I would rebook this hotel in the future.
Outside lights did not was switched and in the night is hard to spot it.
A very good service at reception staff polite and helpful Booked this hotel on the bed and breakfast option only to find breakfast at this hotel had not been served for over 6 years..(not a good start) but all sorted once the 1 hour wait for a rep call.. A roomy but noisy front bedroom single bed comfortable dated decor The shower room needs updating tea/coffee facilities ok Tv, aerial reception sketchy but ok for a short stay.
Hotel was dated but the room was lovely and clean. Central location was a big bonus and the arrangement with the near carpark at £8 for 24 hours was fab
The hotel itself was alright, friendly & helpful staff..the room was clean & comfortable too..but the lift was like something out of agatha christie..would stay there again if going to a gig at the Utilita Arena.
