Stuck in PHX from a flight delay, finding the mission palms was my best experience of the trip. Great breakfast buffett, location was awesome, and the most friendly staff I could imagine. Thank you, I will be back soon.
We went for a couples retreat. We had a good experience, staff was nice, check in was quick, room was clean and tidy, grounds were very nice.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful on the heart of Downtown Tempe. This place was so clean and everyone was so friendly. I absolutely loved the beds and the sheets, they were of great quality and so comfortable.
This is a perfect hotel. The rooms are lovely and airy and clean. The pool is perfect. But mainly, the staff is incredible -- always helpful and smiling, They greet you hello as they pass and when you approach the desk they are already asking how they can help you before you even land. Everyone was SO NICE I felt like I was being welcomed by family. Also, the food was excellent.
Outstanding hotel experience with fine atmosphere, food and service. I have come to the TMP more than a dozen times since 2003 for a convention and have been universally pleased. It is expensive but worth it!
Good location and great staff
It’s dated but overall very nice
The Palms was a very enjoyable stay, even in the dead of summer. All were very friendly, and our room service breakfast was delish!
You can never go wrong at the Tempe Mission Palms. The food, the service, the quality of the amenities, and the comfort of the rooms are all excellent.
Nice facilities and room size. Better than average hotel breakfast (extra charge).
"Resort fee"... should be included in overall price of room. Totally ridiculous as an additional non-optional charge. Temporary area construction and street closures made access difficult.
I have been a Globalist for 2 years and a WOH member for longer than that. I have stayed at high end Hyatt Hotels both domestically and internationally. This might be the first place I have stayed where the staff actually read my request, anticipated my needs, and executed every step of the way. From the airport shuttle pickup, to the check in staff, to the doormen, to housekeeping, to the breakfast staff...Each and every one of the hotel staff members that served us were genuinely engaged in making my stay exceptional. I cannot give this place enough praise for its service and cannot wait for a return trip!
Lovely hotel with beautiful palm trees out front! Friendly staff, professional, and very accommodating! The room was comfortable and really nice, we will definitely stay here the next time we have a really early flight to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport!
This was a great one night stay before heading to other destinations in Scottsdale. In fact we could have easily spent 2 nights here. It was close to the airport and there was a free shuttle to the hotel. The hotel had a nice courtyard, a lovely pool, and was located near many restaurants and bars. Great location to do things in Tempe. Be aware, there is currently a lot of roadwork happening near the hotel. Also, this is near the Desert Botanical Gardens, which I highly recommend. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is located in a very good location and many local restaurants can be find near the hotel. The service was excellent and very low noise level.
Stayed here for one night recently. We frequently stay at Hyatt's and Hyatt was kind enough to give us a free one night stay so we decided to do a staycation. The timing was good because Arizona St. was out of school and it was a weekday night so the hotel was quiet. Stayed in 4044. Nice, comfortable room, great courtyard and a very friendly, helpful made it a memorable stay. Easy walking distance to Mill Ave full of eateries and shops. The only drawback was all the roadwork happening on Mill made walking around a little difficult but we managed. We had dinner at Harry P's, an eatery attached to the hotel (Separate review) Overall nice stay. We would recommend to anyone visiting Tempe.
The pool man was fantastic
My husband and I went for a romantic staycation because we had heard good things about this hotel and for the most part they were true. The hotel is older, but in good shape and very clean. The ambiance and garden view room were terrific. The restaurant was great and the front desk staff was efficient and helpful. Our only complaint was with the valet service. We were not greeted or directed where to park or to wait. We tried to get out of the way and the valet who was moving a car honked at us and was very rude when we inquired where to wait. The next morning our car was returned to us covered in bird poop and tree sap and leaves.
The best place to stay in Tempe! I will always chose to stay there as they exceed expectations. Attentive and have recognized me over the years (13). Never fail to deliver a great experience.
Property was very clean and safe. Location was perfect for the Tempe event I was attending (Pats run). Room service was way better than I expected and the food was first class and very delicious.
Honestly there was nothing negative about the property
Overall the hotel was nice. It was a relaxing enjoyable one night staycation. Walking diastance to restaurants and entertainment. The breakfast was delicious, specially as a Globalist perk. The buffet has everything but the Egg Benedicts. So if that’s not what you want to eat then stick with breakfast and get a made to order omelette and the other things. What soured the overall stay was the mold that we found a few hours before checkout. As we were walking out of our room to take a walk after breakfast my wife looked up and saw mold in the vent. It was bad. My teenager slept in the direct air and hanged out there for 24 hours. Tod the Manager gave me some compensation but honestly we are still uneasy and hopefully the risks are low. I would stay here again but I’ll make sure to o check the vents next time.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. I arrived well after midnight, and the entire check-in process was seamless. Before even boarding my flight to Phoenix, I had already received a digital room key and arranged a late check-out for the following day. After a long day of travel, it was a relief to head straight to my room without needing to stop at the front desk—especially since the digital key worked perfectly, which isn’t always the case. Pros: * Spacious, clean rooms * Friendly, professional, and well-trained staff * Modern, elegant, and well-maintained property and grounds * Located in a lively area, yet quiet and peaceful inside * Complimentary water bottles are generously sized * Comfortable beds and pillows Cons: * Rooms may feel slightly dated, but they are still well-kept and far from worn or run-down Overall, a smooth, comfortable, and highly pleasant stay. I would gladly return.
The resort campus is lovely, the food is great, the staff is phenomenal and all provide unreasonable hospitality that will have our group coming back from years to come.
Our multi day stay was perfect from arrival all the way to departure. Meals and drinks on property were all so satisfying. Room service arrived hot, yea hot, and timely. Every crew member we encountered was so friendly, helpful and engaging. We traveled with a younger child and didn’t feel out of place nor un-welcome, although, the property offered a mature comfortable feel, simultaneously. The pool was perfect sized and well enjoyed by our entire family. We were able to enjoy a nice lunch with drinks in the complimentary cabana while our child enjoyed the pool.
Beautiful property and staff
It was a little loud outside, expected though with buys weekend
This is a fabulous property! We arrived early, and the front desk staff took down my phone number and promptly texted us at the pool when the room was ready. The Globalist breakfast is top-notch-- either the buffet or off the menu. Served in the courtyard. My kids loved the pool, and I loved the shade provided the palapa. We had a little issue with a room charge, and the manager took care of it quickly.
Very comfortable stay. Clean beds and bathrooms. A bit noisy due to the bar across the street though. Decor is simple. Location to everything was very good. Service was very good as well.
Wonderful location right in the heart of downtown. Walkable to many restaurants and shops and ASU. Rooms are small and there are many of them so expect a walk from the lobby and the elevators. Staff was ok. No acknowledgement of our special occasion regardless of our status. No concern when we had problems with our room late one evening. A free drink or some bonus points was too much to expect.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel and rooms were clean. Beautiful court yard and pool. Fitness room was very nice. Food was great. I felt safe and secure.
Facility is good. Prices are high @ $350/nt in Tenpe. TV remote was broken and staff did not address this when contacted. Pretty easy fix to fail at. Good location for night life on Mills Avenue, close to good restaurants.
Convenient hotel in downtown Tempe with good access to variety of food and hill next to the property for a quick and nice day hike while balancing business
Wonderful hotel and great location. The court yard is so peaceful and well maintained. It was nice to have a bar/restaurant pool side that you could order from your cabana.
Had the buffet. It's was delicious. The chef was friendly and cheerful
Lovely stay. Welcoming, warm staff. Clean, comfortable and nice rooms. Solid breakfast. Pool area feels run down and needs a facelift. Otherwise, highly recommend!
This was a Great location. We were close to the airport, within 15 minutes to Chandler and the Gila River Casino, close to the stadium for Spring Training baseball game. We also loved the Italian Restaurant close by.
It's rare you return to any hotel property for over 2 decades, so I am particularly well-placed to put the current situation into context. This hotel long relied on business conferences, weddings, and University-related guests. It has always charged premium prices due to its excellent location, dazzling courtyard, Unfortunately two of our last three stays here have seen a precipitous decline in the quality of the experience. In addition to the staffing travails that are endemic throughout the industry, TMP faces serious challenges in getting our business back. They have in the post-COVID period seemingly increased their reliance on youth travel sports groups. This has led to a terrific strain on their resources, a decline in the usability of the facilities, and a general end to the sense that one is in an "oasis" of any sort. If you are going to have dozens and dozens of pre-teens and teenagers in the pool area for example, there needs to be a change to the lack of supervision. Even the best-supervised group of kids that large is going to degrade the experience for the other patrons. And needless to say most of those groups are not well supervised in circumstances like these. There is an increasing disconnect between the premium room rates and an ever-more "value" experience that has us reconsidering our decades-long loyalty to this lovely property. Cracks in the infrastructure of the hotel, shoddy elements such as the lowest-quality paper goods in lieu of glassware, and the obvious lack of adequate resources to handle the volume of guests are really taking the shine off a location for which my friends and I have so much fondness. I would not suggest avoiding TMP altogether. It remains conveniently located for ASU-related visits, spring training, or general vacationing. The staff is just terrific, and many have been there a long time. The courtyard is beautiful and one-of-a-kind, even if it isn't quite as serene as it could be. But I would recommend looking into what events may coincide with your stay and tempering expectations a bit about some aspects of the experience.
I had a great stay at Tempe Mission Palms. The service stood out right away. Everyone I interacted with was warm and welcoming in a way that felt real and not over the top. The hotel was also incredibly clean. Every space felt well cared for, which made a big difference in overall comfort. I really appreciated the clear commitment to sustainability. There were thoughtful options like multi-use cups and the ability to opt out of daily towel washing, all without compromising cleanliness or quality. You could also feel a real sense of pride from the staff, which reflects its status as a union hotel. That pride showed up in the level of care throughout the experience. The food was a pleasant surprise. Conference food can be hit or miss, but everything I had was excellent. Overall, 10/10. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Close to the event we were attending Bartender gave excellent service Valet service was excellent
They don't answer the phone. I called multiple times before check in and they wouldn't answer. I booked a two bed room but when I checked in they only had a king available so I had to take it. Very disappointed in that. There was no shower gel in shower. The container was empty. The bathroom looked "worn out". We could hear very loud street noise, we heard music from the band from the bar on the street. My expectations were higher for the money I spent on the room.
Scam in overbooking. Had to argue with staff to get a room to fit our family which we had booked directly months before. The beds are true doubles very small and not comparable to any other hotel at this price point
Staff
Unfortunately, this stay did not go as expected. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late in the evening, only to be informed at check-in that there was no hot water. After a long travel day, all we really wanted was a hot shower and to get some rest. I was also planning to wake up early the next morning to drive to see my brother, who is extremely sick. When I woke up early the next morning and tried again, there was still no hot water. I went down to the front desk and was told there was still no estimated time for when it would be restored. When I returned later that day, the hot water was working again. I completely understand that unexpected maintenance issues can happen at any property. My main feedback is simply around communication. It would be very helpful if situations like this could be communicated to guests prior to arrival through a message, email, or text so guests can know what to expect and decide if they want to keep their reservation or make alternate arrangements.
The location was great for access to the event I was attending. The gardens in the center of the hotel are a nice respite.
The customer service is lacking. So little information offered and not good responses when you ask for help. I’ve stayed at two star properties with more attentiveness like coffee and water in the lobby and helping you with parking and getting around the property.
beautiful property, and loved valet was free only had to tip, good location, walking distance to a lot of stuff
no free breakfast
We did a stay vacation with our grandchildren. We wanted to get out of the heat and swim. We were willing to pay a little more to spoil ourselves. However, when we reached the hotel it was under some construction on the property involving the parking lot and areas on the way to the pool, impacting the elevators. Also, when we went into our room we didn't realize the booking was for 2 standard beds instead of queen beds, and at the front desk we could not upgrade to queen beds as the property only had standard or king beds. We were very surprised as we have never encountered that at any other property before. We were informed that the property mainly caters to business travel. We live very close to ASU in Tempe, and there are so many hotel options now fairly new, so The Mission Palms being an older resort, but still what I would consider higher prices was a little surprising. With all that being said, although I had inquired to upgrade our room for queen beds and was considering whether or not to stay, the front desk staff to my surprise and appreciation upgraded us to a much larger room with a king and what she described as a very comfortable sofa bed for our grandchildren. When we went inside we all felt and said, now we're talking. It felt more inclined to what we paid! Still not 2 beds, but it felt extremely spacious and more upgraded. I was very grateful! We see stayed linger and oaud a fee to check out later to be able to swim more. To be honest, it was the exceptionally friendly staff throughout our entire stay that absolutely made our visit wonderful! The bellmen, the front desk a.m. and p.m., and the staff in the pub that we walked in and ordered food from to take to our room! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the property. While we waited they encouraged us and showed us how we could walk around the property courtyard which was beautiful at night until our food was prepared. They were even very nice to our small grandchildren.
Construction on property and the standard sized beds no option for queens for 2 larger beds vs a king sized. The elevator issues on the way to the pool.
Great. Plenty of options
Not enough signs leading you to the breakfast grill or the pool.
The valet team was excellent. The property is gorgeous and clean. While there was maintenance happening it was well managed.
The staff where all very friendly and I could tell they wanted to be helpful and do their job well. I loved the deal I found that got me a decent room at a great price!
Marketing could use some inspiration. I used Booking.com which got me a great deal however it was a bit inconvenient on the customer side because what I paid for did not sink up with what we got until after we left. (Sad for all parties) Also, Google led me first to a back parking lot that felt unsafe. I would have loved if Google had better direction to get me to the front entrance! Oh, possibly training staff how to see said marketing deals 🙂
Friendly staff, Location Good transport links Reasonably priced food and drinks, apart from chips(fries) on par with eating out in local area
Features of the room could have done with being renewed. ie damage to bed frames, fittings and features looking worn. Not in keeping with the price bracket being charged
Beautiful hotel! Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and smells fresh. The grounds are well maintained. The bell staff are great! They took us to see the hole in the rock on one afternoon after our meeting concluded. Also easy, walking access to several restaurants.
We've stayed multiple times. Best hotel to stay at in Tempe, especially if you're visiting ASU. Perfect for family weekend. Clean, well kept, beautiful grounds. Lots of amenities, and staff is remarkably nice
Conveniently located, the shuttle service to airport is excellent. The courtyard at the center of the hotel is an oasis in the city. The rooftop swimming pool is perfect with great views of the hills and sunset. The food was better than expected.
This is a really lovely hotel. Not a brand new, modern type of hotel but it is maintained really, really well. Nothing is broke or looks dirty. I was assigned a courtyard facing room so it was quiet too except due to proximity to the airport there can be plane noises.
I rarely leave reviews but feel compelled to make an exception. This isn’t a hotel you can sleep at on a weekend due to nearby university bars/partying. Plan accordingly.
Tempe Mission Palms is in the center of everything. Great location and within walking distance to restaurants, entertainment, walking trails, and local transportation. The property is gorgeous at night. We did get in a little pool time, and it was quite nice. Definitely gives the resort-style feel without going to the beach. The weather was dry, unlike Texas, which is full of humidity. We will one day return and explore other areas of Arizona, keeping Tempe Palms in mind as our next stay.
Great location for University. Good breakfast!
Clean
A wonderful respite to the delayed flights.
Valet person very rude because of that I wouldn’t stay there again .
The staff were good but the property is just not up to the Hyatt name or reputation. Tired. Worn. Broken. Disappointing property.
The Hotel is an amazing place to escape the city and have some peace and quiet, minus the random airplane. The staff provided the little things that made the difference in being able to have a productive day and evening.
Very clean, right across from Arizona State
Hair in the tub and sink. Security told us 3 black men all with separate hotel rooms costing over $700 each we had to leave after smoking a cigarette outside. There were 4 homeless people right next to us who smelled like piss. There was a couple right next to us who were smoking weed. I guarantee they werent guest here. It’s sad how you treat black men who actually have money and are actually guests here.
Incredible service from the front desk to the bar tenders.
We had a wonderful experience. Breakfast room service was amazing and the breakfast buffet. Pool staff was super cool.
Check in was so easy
Great place to stay in the Tempe area, especially for the price point. Very stylish and elegant atmosphere. Nice courtyard that was pleasant to have breakfast in, even during the warmer months. Didn't really get a chance to enjoy the rooftop pool during my one night stay, but that was primarily due to a sudden thunderstorm in the area. But the few minutes I was there it seemed to have nice sunset views. And the proximity to the mountain next door was a major bonus for those wishing to do an early morning hike to catch the sunrise.
Staff was so friendly and helpful. Pretty location and courtyard. Yummy breakfast buffet with excellent staff. Just a very enjoyable time thanks to staff with amazing personalities. From the Valet to the front desk and restaurant everyone was so knowledgeable and very friendly.
Loved the hotel! Very clean and family friendly. Staff was great. Pool are and gym was very nice and clean. Will definitely stay here again.
Evynn was amazing. Thanks for making our stay wonderful!
Very enjoyable stay, property is clean and pleasant, pool is lovely, staff was helpful. We didn’t find any negatives. We will be back for sure
Unique hotel with character. Breakfast is a great value in the hotel space. In an excellent location, lots of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.
Very clean, great comfortable bed, food was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommended this resort for a business event.
Excellent customer service and friendly staff
Outstanding and great location
Having stayed at the Tempe Mission Palms several times now, it is always a welcomed experience! Kind, responsive staff, excellent accommodations, and great food (albeit, a little pricey). I always look forward to returning!
The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful and friendly!
We've been staying here for several years. Absolutely love the courtyard
Comfortable rooms, very good breakfast, delightful bar and truly the very best staff hospitality I have ever experienced.
Nada
Great Hotel
Excellent location
Breakfast was good.
Idk, maybe the pool depth n size
Attended Expo in Tempe in July. The solar flares increased the outside temperature about + 5500 °C however we stayed cool and comfortable due to the staff and well maintained A/C. Rooms clean, food was fantastic and staff helpful and professional. We will be attending in 2026! thank you!
Was great
The staff in every dept was superb! Friendly and very helpful! You felt special, especially in this heat.
Excellent hotel all around. Spotless and updated rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient to Tempe restaurants. Airport shuttle was very convenient. Loved this place.
Great pool area, staff was very friendly and attentive. Room was clean and was updated. Ate at the restaurant onsite and it was wonderful.
Beautiful hotel with a beautiful courtyard, the palm trees everywhere and nice outdoor pool set up. The room also felt very comfortable in terms of size and decor. Both the overall hotel and room may need a bit of updating here and there but nothing that detracts from the beauty and peacefulness of the hotel. The hotel is even in the landing and takeoff pattern of nearby Sky Harbor Airport, and it didn’t take away from our stay there (although it’s particularly loud during takeoff in the morning by the pool). There is a restaurant where you can get omelette made right there in front of you, and the buffet options are all very fresh. They even had fixings to make avocado toast. Unfortunately I have to give a 4 instead of a 5 because sleep / bed quality is so important to me, and the bed was quite soft for my husband and me, and not comfortable. During my last night I finally tried sleeping in the middle of the bed ( it was a king size) and it was a bit better, confirming that it wasn’t just a pillow top issue but an older sunken mattress .
