Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We chose this hote solelyl for its location - we had low expectations in terms of comfort and service as we usually stay at 5* luxury. The hotel room was however clean.
I won't comment on comfort as at the rate we paid I wouldn't expect any better I would however encourage some focus on customer service from staff at reception and in the restaurant. The receptionist lacked welcome and rapport - was rather officious. Restaurant service was provided by very young adults who would benefit from some understanding of basic hospitality. Less said about the food the better I'm afraid
Staff were nice
Rooms dusty. Everything needs a proper clean. Behind beds etc etc. It's an absolute dust bowl
The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. The receptionist was very helpful and even tried to see if we could be refunded our last nights stay. The rooms were lovely, bright, clean and smelt nice too. Spacious bathroom and comfortable beds.
The description of the hotel and grounds was misleading as the hotel was situated at the end of a residential street, the grounds were described as being expansive so you can walk around however this was not the case as the footprint is actually quite small. For a so called hotel spa, there were no bath robes in the rooms and the spa (actually a health club) is situated at the other end of the car park which you have to cross to get to. Very basic TV options to watch, clean but leaky kettle and a coffee machine that didn't work. Not many plugs near the bed and doors slamming that could have been in the room they were so loud - if I didn't know better, I'd suspect the staff were testing the slamability. My partner and I took the hotel up on their offer of afternoon tea at a discounted price of £25 each the tea was nice, the staff again were lovely, friendly and attentive. The food promptly arrived followed by two engineers who decided that lunchtime was the perfect occasion to test the lights by turning them off leaving us in the gloom. The staff seemed as perplexed as us. You would imagine this sort of maintenance would take place after hours. The hotel lacks casual areas to sit and relax and as we didn't fancy using the spa and based on our lunchtime experience, we decided to cut our visit short and leave a day early. The staff did try to see if we could be refunded but were unable to due to us booking through an external provider.
Everything was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were tidy, beds were super comfy!
Service at the bar was slow - waited half an hour for 2 hot chocolates (BUT we were compensated with a free drinks token each for the inconvenience).
Tucked away in great order and plesant welcome
Everything was good, plenty of of rooms to occupy and a selection of of sized cream teas with unlimited tea and coffee, drinks priced ok.
T\he location to one of my clients here is the big plus for me. All the facilities allow me to recover from the long days with clients. Not experience the gym or food and beverage yet but everything looks well and I love the ambience of the whole place. Weirdly looking forward to Autumn stays. To be honest I only use this hotel of their sister hotel in the area and both fantastic. Cost is higher than other places but you pay for what you get in this world.
Nothing worth mentioning in all fairness
Gorgeous location, lovely house, car parking onsite, pool, good breakfast
The bed was slanted and terrible, hairdryer so old it sounded and smelt dangerous, were told we would be moved rooms due to the bed but were not, room keys stopped working on day 2
Positive outcome: The hotel is located at the lovely environment.
There was no courtesy water in the room and the AC wasn't working. There was no intercom phone to reach reception for assistance
De ligging in parkachtige omgeving

Beautiful building and grounds
Location, facilities
Dated but fits the character
The spa and comfortable beds
Nice location very leafy and rural looking
Venligt personale. God mad. Veludstyret værelse. Dejlig have.
Didn't stay long enough to make a decision.
Having phoned ahead of our arrival due to being considerably delayed by an incident on the M25 we were assured that we would be able to get something to eat and drink in the bar. On our arrival at approximately 22.40hrs we quickly checked in and went straight to the bar. The barman had already shut up but did reopen to serve us a drink. He was unable to locate anyone to make us a sandwich.
Location
Dated, desperate need of upgrade and redecoration, looks tired. The room was average, bed was knackered and to soft, maybe supper was gone. Upsold an avocado at £6 when I had already paid extra for breakfast. It felt like an old people’s home.
The staff was really friendly expecially Neil who served our evening meal. The head lady at breakfast. The two reception ladies 1 that checked us in & 1 that checked us out.
Breakfast was ok it wasn't hot waited too long for our eggs & toast.. We would have liked to have poured the coffee ourselves. Didn't like that the tea & coffee in the room wasn't on show. We dud not discover it until the morning. No lift available. It was our anniversary & nothing was done in our room to reflect this in our room. We were able to open the window very wide didnt think that was very safe. Considering people's mental health these days.
Charmingly old-fashioned in style but with a young & vibrant staff.
Plumbing could do with some improvement, especially more efficient toilet flush.
The Hotel insisted I sign a very detailed ts and cs regarding my pets stay. I have stayed there many times without this and this came across as un pet friendly. Also I had booked dinner during my stay and one of the conditions of the pet stay (charged at £50 for 2 small dogs) was that they were not left in the room alone. This is just not possible - I have to be able to go to dinner. So given this new condition I will not be staying at the hotel in the future with my dogs.
Oldy worldy, charming reception area. Very relaxed atmosphere and informal.
No tea coffee in room
Was lovely place we got married day before and was really relaxing
In the room we had no idea the ketttle and tea suger and stuff was as did not get told a reception and the room some of the curtains was ripped
We both enjoyed the spa and swimming pool
The water pressure in the shower was a bit low
Lovely traditional building set in lovely location
Rooms were tired, food expensive and limited menu, breakfast was a shambles cold poor quality food, coffee poor quality cold and served in paper cups.Staff lacked Customer service, their presentation and lack of professionalism needs addressed.overall very disappointed in what could be a great Hotel.Extremely disappointed as used this chain of hotels on several occasions and had no Issues
Extremely comfortable and perfect location for what we needed.
Food a little overpriced.
De prachtige entourage waar nog wat was te ervaren van de grandeur van weleer.
Zoals vaker is de sauna wegens technische redenen buiten gebruik. Ongeloofwaardig.
Nice old building and lovely oak stairs and frames
Rooms look nothing like the images, breakfast was not great, poor selection and dirty plates on all tables every morning.
Lovely room and location
Old traditional
Love the old Manor House but it is looking a bit tired in places. The dinner was delicious we had the flat iron steak. The breakfast was very good. We also had the afternoon tea which was very expensive for what it was. They add 12% which you can take off but the service was very good.
The swimming pool area was quite narrow and fills up we were lucky to felt beds. The area felt tired, the gym and spa is also open to the public.
Location and staff
Very tired. I stayed in the suite, very old walls need re painting, carpet feels Old and dirty
They moved our bedroom from the 2nd to first floor on request. It was good value for money. They allowed us to stay in the lounge after check out.
No lift.
Beautiful hotel, lovely grounds, super friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast great value for money.
Nothing
Beautiful grounds,beautiful building
N/A
Good location, quiet rooms, staff in restaurant friendly
Room was cramped and fittings generally dated. Car got hit in the car park.. spaced small.. but not hotels fault
The decor and character were very attractive and unique. The entrance hall is particularly immpressive,
Staff
Shabby facilities
The grounds
The amenities were quite old. Plus they don’t answer their front desk calls. I rang in vain after I left about my clothes that I left behind but one ever picked the phones. I even rang the other Berystede who tried to reach them on my behalf to avail. Very disappointing. The customer service number online isn’t functional. This is not good marketing.
Location and staff
No water in room. Bathrooms looking dated.Spa tired and needs upgrading. Sauna out of order showers need replacing steam room smells of mushrooms, some eucalyptus oil or similar in steam room would be nice
Location was perfect for what I required.
My first room was dirty and had hair in the bed. However, this was dealt with promptly and I was moved to another room. The grounds which the rooms overlook are generally untidy and could do with tidying up. At breakfast, I was asked if I would like anything off the menu that would be prepared by the kitchen. On the menu is an option of an English Breakfast but when asked for I advised to help myself from the self service buffet and they will order the black pudding as a side. All seemed a bit pointless it being on there.
Die Ansicht vom Eingang und die Eingangshalle ist wunderschön, der Rest sind Anbauten die nicht zum Stil passen. Sehr schade. Das Frühstück ist vielseitig.
The rooms are air conditioned. Lovely room. Very comfy bed. Very clean.
There wasn't anything we disliked.
Verouderde kamers, slechte matrassen en bedden. Matig ontbijt. Zelfs geen 2 sterren waardig. Zeer lawaaierige omgeving.
Nothing
Our room was a both an event until midday. Struggled to park. Hotels dated Restaurants crowded
Went for the spa weekend which was rather disappointing. Hotel and staff at the hotel (not the spa) were exceptional. Don't expect tge same level of excellence in the spa from any of spa reception staff (1star) or quality of spa treatments and facilities. Treatments are WAY overpriced for what they offer. Hotel stay fantastic. Restaurant food..OK, not exceptional but staff 5star for service.
Spa everything and everyone about it. The quiet room.is nice though.
Amazing scenic place cheap for what it is. Full spa access
Beautiful hotel very close to town at the end of a housing estate which was a bit weird
Food menu, pool area was very dark, steam room not working
Beautiful building inside and out. Comfortable clean room. Dinner was excellent.
Cannot think of anything
No issues with hotel
Having arthritis no ground floor room or a lift was an issue but we were aware of this issue when we booked

The location
The location
The hotel was a nice hotel in a quiet location within a residential area. All staff were very friendly, particularly the manager of the restaurant.
The bedroom had no electrical sockets or bedside lights next to the bed! The TV reception was intermittent with a pixilated picture.
The entrance hall is very grand and impressive and I was lovely sitting on the lawn for drinks. Nice town nearby for pubs and restaurants. Gym, although small, was well equipped.
Lack of jacuzzi in the spa meant we didn't end up using the spa area, which ruined the point of booking a spa hotel. Bed was a little soft for my liking, and everything was a little dated. It was clean but not spotless. I have paid less for a lot more elsewhere.
The staff were perfect 👌. The room was lovely and functional for us and not noisy. The grounds were pleasant.
The bed was a bit too soft causing us to roll into the centre.
When booking looks nice building that would be in middle of no where but is literally at top of a residential street ask for some touches to the room as it was mine an my partners anniversary which they partly fulfilled not what was described
Spa was disgusting was mold in lockers an in bathroom and steam room stunk of mold the spa needs a renovation to say the least sauna was not working had to walk back to my room in wet trunks as was not having a shower in the changing rooms
The location and the receptionist was very friendly
Everything else
Beautiful property and the setting gorgeous especially the frontage with the outside gardens. Very homely and welcoming.
The air con did not seem to be working on our second night so very hot!
Great atmosphere, staff were great- breakfast staff were amazing!!!!
Bed was too soft
Property is great for me as I travel to the area for work. Hotel is welcoming, super surroundings, bar area and restaurant. Spa area fab!
Amazing location and building. All excellent but breakfast variable depending on what day of the week it is. Otherwise the best hotel in the area and absolutely beautiful.
The grounds and the building
Very helpful, hard working staff and nice historic buildings. The breakfast was good and it was very handy to have the use of the swimming pool and gym.
The sauna and steam room were out of order in the spa.
The room was lovely.
The AC did not work at all
Decent room with good facilities for the price. Staff friendly. The grounds outside are nice. Spa.
Rooms a bit dated, but generally ok.
Clean and tidy Spa was good for price Good access to Bisley shooting ground Carpark and area felt safe Grounds were nice , didn’t feel to tired staff and maintenance team obviously working hard on an old building - would return
Carpet was abit dated in the corridors to rooms , would make the whole place feel modern if it was replaced Was very clean ; staff are obviously trying very hard and it is paying off
De tuin was prachtig.
Geen groot ding, maar geen koffie van de roomservice
The building was beautiful and in lovely grounds. The swimming pool was fantastic. The staff were very friendly on the whole.
There was little option for food on the bar menu for dinner. Then some items were not available and there were no other options given. We had to wait a VERY long time for our food.
Breakfast was spot on and location was perfect for our visit.
Charming building. Great parking. Nice leisure centre. Comfy beds. Fridge in room. Breakfast was tasty. Reception staff were friendly. Good powerful shower.
It felt a bit dated and lacking in atmosphere, but the place grew on us. Its kind of is what it is. But needs a bit of money spent here and there.
Uiteindelijk mocht het heel even. De sauna was echter kapot, het turks stoombad rook muf.
Great place, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.
Near to Heathrow
No lift
Absolutely stunning. The best part of our stay, the house is amazing and so are the grounds.
The rooms are dated a rip in the chair. Paint all scuffed
The staff, the cleanliness, the rooms, the facilities.
The spa treatments are not updated on the website. They are also a little on expensive side for being 25mins a treatment.
Style although rooms are outdated
Poor breakfast
Swimming pool and gym. Beautiful grounds
Unable to buy a comb or brush from reception (I forgot mine) Rooms in need of a refresh of furniture and decoration
environment, friendly and helpful staff, spa
restaurant meal was good but highly overpriced
Period property and some of the staff
Restaurant is snug and the property is tired.
Clean lovely bathroom, hot powerful shower
Adjoining doors to next door room
Lovely old building with character. Also quiet.
It does need some attention in some areas. We had ripped curtains and stains on a chair in our room and our mattress dipped in the middle.
Location and grounds. Parking on site
Dated. In need of refresh. Meals very poor. Dining area tiny and crammed. No tea making facilities in room.
Thr room was decent, but thier was a issue with the bathroom sink, thr room was very hog even though i had windows open.
The restaurant was very poor the food was not what i expected, it was tikka curry, the sauce was clearly out of a packet there was no flavour at all, the chicken was dry and was not in pieces like a chicken curry, it says it comes with nan, and i thought i was getting a full nan , but all it was 3 pieces that was not edible and dry. When it came to the bill i was shocked because 2 tikka curries with 2 free side cost £64, thats a day like robbery , and i was clearly scammed. I wanted a drink at the bar , but there was a queue and the bar man was very slow, i mustve been in the queue for at least 20/30 mintues.
Beautiful surroundings and clean
Paid for a suite, air conditioning not working after three times of trawling down to reception from the top floor through the poorly signed maze three times was told to leave it for 20 mins each time. Still didn’t work ! Final time asked to be moved to something more suitable and comfortable initially told it was fully booked, turned out it wasn’t and was shown a room the opposite end of hotel. Was not offered help with bags so had to do the trip again. The room was basic but air con worked and was clean. Breakfast was poor and staff offish. Very disappointing considering I paid a lot more for a very basic stay.
Beautiful place
We booked a 2x double rooms online only to be contacted by the hotel and told that all they had left was twin rooms left. There were 3 of us so 1 room didn't matter about that but we asked if it would be possible to push the beds together and have new double bedding, the guy agreed and said he wasn't able to do it for us but we were more than welcome to and bedding would be supplied. Upon arrival unfortunately the guy had finished. The lady on reception basically flatly refused to give us any new bedding and said that it wasn't possible to push the 2 beds together. We were exhausted from working at Farnborough air show so just accepted her information. Upon getting to the room it was possible to move the beds so we did but had a quilt each. Also they do not supply milk in the room for the tea or coffee, no sugar and no water. We were told to ask reception if we wanted milk and pay £5 if you want 1 bottle of water. For the cost of the room you would expect water and milk. I have stayed in quite a few of the Mcdonald hotels but unfortunately this one let's them down badly. Tired rooms and unhelpful night receptionist. Such a shame as a beautiful old building with lovely grounds.
Comfortable pleasant stay, good staff service
Nothing
Lovely location beautiful property
The room was a bit run down there had clearly been a water leak or something but it didn’t affect much apart from the cosmetic look! The beds were really uncomfortable and the pillows were awful
Very helpful staff. Room was comfortable. Airconditioner worked well during the heat wave. Great breakfast with many choices. Lovely garden to sit in. Relaxing ambience.
Car parking. Often had to park around the back.
The room was a very good size and dinner was nice. The staff at dinner were very welcoming and professional.
There were just a few things that didn't match what you would expect from a hotel like this, for example , some (not all!) of the staff were not particularly friendly, nothing felt very organised, when we went for a drink on the outside seating area, every table had dirty glasses and ashtrays on, bird poo all over the garden seats, in the morning there was litter all over the garden area, plug broken in the bedroom bathroom sink. Nothing was massively wrong with the hotel and we had a nice night but all these little things when you are paying over £100 spoil it slightly.
Great breakfast Good tasty food at dinner Nice to sit out for lunch on the lawn Pretty grounds and a lovely hotel to look at generally Good air-conditioning in the bedrooms All very clean Nice pool
Staff service at evening meal was poor; they didn't seem very with-it, and service was extremely slow or non existent throughout our meal.
No lifts very few handrails made getting to room arduous and worrying. Decor very tired..Bed uncomfortable.Very uneven surfaces in front of hotel made walking risky. Outside tables covered in Ants ,tables not washed. Very loud music prevented hearing colleague's conversation.Party and staff had no consideration for residents. Food limited choice Tasteless.except the black pudding was delicious. No tomatoes at breakfast.Fruit juice insipid. Rooms not cleaned fully ,wardrobes too high could not reach hangers. Tea and coffee facilities basic and miniscule biscuits size of a 50p. Hotel not up to quality standards expected. Hotel has nice surroundings.
See above
Ok bu the breakfast room was a bit small
No air conditioning
Le jardin etait magnifique
Ils ne servaient pas le petit dej dans le jardin. Il fallait que l'on l'amene nous memes
Location and grounds, spa and staff
Nothing
It was really chill and silent
The a la cart breakfast
Near enough to LHR
Seemed a little tired. Some updating needed.
Really nice stay. Everything available made my stay comfortable. I didn't have to time to eat or drink during my stay but all worked out. AC was especially helpful during this hot period
If I have to identify an issue it would be the pillows where too hard for my comfort.
The setting is so beautiful and relaxing. I like the style of the hotel and rooms.
Nothing I really enjoy staying here. This was my second visit and I’m sure I will return.
Hotel staff were great.
Air-conditioning broken in room, resteraunt food bland and resteraunt staff were surly when bringing food and otherwise ignored us.
The grounds
The room to small. Tv signal kept going off and air conditioning didn't seem to work
The property was tired
The restaurant food was not a patch on what it used to be
