McGettigan's Townhouse - Olives & Figs Bistro

We never stayed after we saw the place.

We drove up to graffiti all over the building, both sides, and up and down the street. No elevator and no air-conditioning. Both doors locked and the place looked deserted with all the metal grates; we had to call the owner to get in. Place clean inside but in a drug area seemingly. Drug sale going on outside when we pulled up. Owner let us in and then locked door after us. We decided not to stay.

Paul was the perfect host, very welcoming.

Great accommodation for our stay in Dublin for a concert. Location great for tram connection to concert and main shopping/tourist area and bus connection to airport. Owner of accommodation was so lovely and welcoming and made our stay comfortable. Also was offered a lovely complimentary drink from the bar

Room was a bit dull could have done with some better lights and a mirror in bedroom The plumbing needed a bit of work as drainage from sink and shower not great but otherwise all good!

The location is great with great access to transportation. The room is very cosy, the facilities all look fairly new and well kept. The shower has great water pressure, nothing feels old, sloppy or cheap. The room could be considered small in size if you need anything more than a place to spend the night but personally it wasn't a problem for us. Bottled still and sparkling water is refilled in the room everyday free of charge, there's a kettle, coffee, tea and creamer that you can also use for free which came in very handy given the price of coffee around the city. The owner was very nice, was always available and gave great recommendations. Even offered to pour us a beer in the pub when it was closed.

While there wasn't anythig we didn't like we felt like a small fridge would make a big difference. Because there was no fridge we couldn't refrigerate water or get food that required a fridge. If you're travelling in a budget and planning to not eat out every day this could be a problem.

Excellent location, a close walk to everywhere without being stuck in the loud busy temple bar district. Paul was exceptionally hospitable and very accomodating to our late check ins and late check outs. Coco welcomed us with a smile and complimentary drink at the bar each. The rooms were very clean. Couldn’t recommend this enough for your Dublin stay!

My partner and I made reservations for 3 nights, but had to move to another hotel on the third night due to issue with the room. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, old with very scratchy sheets. The TV did not work either night. I didn't feel comfortable using the shower as there was visible mold on the ceiling. There was a sign on the door advising that we must use both sheets "for hygiene reasons"... which strongly suggests that the hotel does not launder the duvet cover with the sheets. We didn't feel comfortable using the duvet at all given the assumption that it does not get laundered, so we were cold. Finally, on the second evening, the internet was out completely, making it difficult for us to plan our next day. We requested a refund for the third night and the hotel was unresponsive.

Individual style to the room. Staff were very helpful and polite when we checked in. They thoroughly explained the site and remembered us when we visited the bar later, taking time to chat.

The upper shower head was not connected to the water supply.

The hosts were very friendly, the wood panelled bar is really good, the location is really convenient and the room and bathroom (which was high standard) were both a good size. The room was smartly decorated and felt traditional - a great first visit to Dublin

The room wasn't well equipped for hot weather - that's unlikely to be a problem in Dublin usually but may be worth considering with the heat waves. Luggage storage isn't available, but you can easily find providers elsewhere.

Location was fairly good. Only a 15 minute walk into the main part of the city where we wanted to spend most time. In a lively but not too loud area. Paul who welcomed us was lovely and friendly. Room a nice size and very clean. Fan in room as it was quite warm up there. Bar underneath and a complimentary drink for staying. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk, and water. Comfy bed, nice lighting. Dark curtains.

Only things I’d change is adding a bin under tea and coffee area as had to use the bathroom one. And I’d either add a mirror to the bedroom OR add a socket to nearer bathroom as my straighteners only just reached to bathroom mirror. Apart from these 2 small issues, it was perfect!

La pulizia potrebbe essere migliore, ho trovato asciugamani e fodera del cuscino macchiati. Gli asciugamani erano pochi per 2 persone (1 grande da doccia, 3 piccoli ) e la dimensione della stanza piccola .

The opening hours of the Townhouse + Bistro are incorrect, we came on a Wednesday and were informed that they do not open at all, despite opening hours saying otherwise on Google, disappointing as we would have liked to try the food!

Location was excellent. Bar and Restaurant was not open and not advised when booking. Book in process was very good. Tv in room did work and no staff available to repair.

Great location by Smithfield, easy access to the luas, heuston, parking, bars, restaurants etc. The room was not too noisy, even though the building is at a busy intersection right by the luas tracks. The host made a massive effort to welcome us. Modern room nicely decorated. We stayed for one night for a concert in IMMA in August, walkable from the guesthouse. Secure access separate from the door to the bar.

Even though nearby hotels were slightly cheaper for the 1 night, we said we'd do a guesthouse instead, and expected better. There was mold around the shower and ceiling, lots of dirt in the radiators and the portable A/C. The bed was small, not great for two. Fine for one night.

Warm welcome from Paul. Complimentary drinks on arrival. Bed super comfy, beautiful room, tasteful interior. Had everything we needed. Convenient to other bars restaurants etc.

The location was central and the rooms were quaint

The bar and restaurant were closed so there was no atmosphere- we booked it because it was advertised as having the bar etc. The rooms were very hot despite having a fan even though the temperature outside was cooler. It was also very noisy.

We had a great stay at McGettigan’s Townhouse. It was very clean, and a very quaint place. Location is good as it is walking distance to attractions and pubs!

Mi estancia fue decepcionante por varios motivos. La ubicación es buena, pero se ve gravemente afectada por un ruido insoportable (tráfico y alarmas que saltaba ) que no cesa, y el aislamiento acústico es inexistente. El colchón, hundido y viejo , me provocó dolores de espalda y un descanso pésimo. El precio no se corresponde con lo que ofrecen; es muy elevado para unas instalaciones básicas . En resumen, una relación calidad-precio pésima que no recomendaría.

Nice character features and decor in rooms….

Location was very noisy with constant cars and trams and a bar opposite… Rooms very small for a double and quite cramped .. no room for a comfy chair to sit on! A tiny toy mini fridge with insignificant power to cool anything… No breakfast included… This was supposed to be a boutique hotel with pub / restaurant yet the downstairs area was shut for the night when we arrived .. we’d not been told this on booking… The host/ owner/ manager was in a hurry to lock up and leave us to our own devices so felt the care of the customer wasn’t really there and no one to go to if a problem.. For the money this was really not worth it…

Staff molto cordiale, aperto e familiare. Cuscini e materasso molto comodi. Doccia molto comoda e spaziosa walk in, il phon a disposizione è molto comodo e funziona bene. La camera in generale è molto accogliente e calda, la finestra insonorizza bene dalla strada e le tende oscurano tutte le luci dall'esterno.

La doccia era un po' intasata e l'acqua scendeva molto piano quindi non si potevano fare docce molto lunghe.

Personnel peu présent. Chambre légèrement étroite. La description des équipements ne correspond pas exactement à la réalité : manque de peignoirs et de chaussons, le nombre de grandes serviettes était limité. Vue sur la cour arrière (squat de pigeons) peu agréable.

Appartamento carino. La posizione era comoda per spostarsi a piedi, il tram passa proprio sotto l'appartamento. La sera con la finestra aperta c'è un po' di rumore d'estate, ma dopo mezzanotte tutto tranquillo. Disponibilità dell'host per un late check-in.

Letto rumoroso. Il pub sotto all'appartamento era quasi sempre chiuso quindi non ne abbiamo potuto approfittare.

Mouldy shower. Room was too hot. Air conditioning was useless.

The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. It also had a fan to help keep the room cooler as it was very warm.

It was abit small for us as we had two suitcases plus carry on luggage, but we managed. A lot of street noise.

Room is 10C hotter than outside (so was 30C at night), needs better ventilation, fans, or anything. As an example, the milk packet for tea had curdled from the room temperature. Street is also too loud when window is open. A few maintenance issues like clogged shower.

Central fair easy to walk pretty much everywhere

Location was wonderful as was the staff. The room is exactly how presented online and everything you want to do and or see in Dublin is minutes away (walking or tram). Very quaint and cozy vibes

No AC in the middle of July, it was hotter inside the room than outside, very small space which is fine if you’re not looking to do more than sleep in the room, restaurant not open during our stay (Sun-Tues)

Hôtel très bien situé, à proximité de belles commodités (restauration, magasins, tramway, bus) et permettant l'accès facile même à pied des quartiers touristiques (quais, Temple Bar).

Température de la chambre, exposée plein soleil le matin. Climatisation à prévoir. Matelas trop souple. Rideaux à remplacer par des stores pour mieux régler la luminosité.

Venlig og imødekommende vært. Hyggelig indretning af værelse. Godt badeværelse. Blæser på værelset var helt perfekt da det var meget varmt under vores ophold. Tæt på det meste.

Det eneste minus var at vi ikke kunne opbevare vores baggage inden indtjekning.

Paul was absolutely lovely and helpful. The rooms are small yes, but it’s an old house.

The room was extremely noisy, to the point that I had trouble falling asleep before 2 a.m. The bedding was of poor quality, and the bed was too small for two people. In short, five very difficult nights…

Close to downtown and train. Host was super nice and welcoming.

Mostly paid parking around. There is some free and available parking very close but only limited hours. Not the cleanest part of town. Very unimpressed with that. Drug addicts and homeless also meandering around the area. No refrigerator, fans don’t move much air, pretty noisy with window open but didn’t bother us, few repairs needed to shower and sink.

Tolle Lage mit Nähe zur Innenstadt, erstklassige Verkehrsanbindung durch die Straßenbahn. Unheimlich nette Begrüßung. Kuscheliges Zimmer, sehr sauber und gute Ausstattung. Viele kleine Cafés und Pubs in unmittelbarer Nähe.

Leider kein TV, auch kein Frühstück. Beides war aber nicht schmerzhaft, da viel Programm in Dublin auf der Agenda stand. Frühstück nur wenig Schritte vom Hotel. Leider leider leider war der Pub im Haus und das Restaurant die ganze Zeit geschlossen.

The Location was perfect for the venue we were attending that night .. the Room was small but perfect for what we needed .. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable .. the staff were lovely and we were offered a free drink on arrival which was a lovely touch .. I would certainly recommend this to my family and friends..

Location was perfect. Very walkable to everything we wanted. We were without a car.

Clean, great bathroom, water in the room and the bar downstairs was a bonus. We didn’t use the restaurant. The greeting (by Dave and staff) was perfect. Room was ready with an offer of a drink at the bar when we got settled in.

No climate control. The room was very hot and stuffy. The bed was squeaky. The small refrigerator did not work. The bathroom needs a little TLC.

Sehr gemütlich eingerichtetes Zimmer, mit allem was man braucht. Lage war super, alles Fußläufig erreichbar.

Das Zentrum war fußläufig zu erreichen, auch eine Bushaltestelle ist ca. 5 min vom Hotel entfernt. Geräumiges Bad, großes Zimmer, ventilator vorhanden. Steckdose für den Föhn habe ich im Bad nicht gefuden.

Es war sehr laut, zum einen von einem Pub gegenüber und zum anderen wegen des Straßenverkehrs. Wenn man die Fenster öffnete, stank es nach Abgasen. Es gab keine Rezeption.

Bed has footboard, and was not long enough. Even a person with 190cm would not be comfortable, for myself with 2mts height it was harder. A bit of black mold and smell on the toilet, it seems that exhaust fan was not working. A bit expensive, did not feel worth the cost

Lovely Staff! good clean room & wifi. comfortable bed as well, and the staff gave me a free pint on my first night at the bar downstairs.

It wasn't my favorite location as a tourist; I wish I had done more research beforehand. Additionally, a bit pricey in my opinion. Lastly, we happened to be experiencing a heat wave during my stay, and it was really difficult to stay cool in my room. Of course, that's really unusual for Ireland, so I don't blame the hotel for that.

Le miroir dans la salle de bain

Le matelas était très vieux et de mauvaise qualité . Le wc ( oui oui le wc! pas que la cuvette…) bougeait à chaque fois qu’on l’utilise et la cuvette bougeait aussi. La douche était bouchée. Il faisait extrêmement chaud et le ventilateur disponible était plein d’eau lorsque nous sommes arrivés. La chaise était cassée, les rideaux ne fermaient pas en entier et le vis à vis était très présent . La housse de couette va paraissait sale!

Rooms were very hot (though fans available in room) and small, especially if staying for longer than a few days.

Paul the host and Bartender was fantastic, we had a drink with him after check in. He was very pleasant to talk to and made the experience feel special.

It was unusually warm in Dublin and the heat in the room made it hard to sleep but that’s no one’s fault.

Nothing to do with the property but just know there’s a pretty busy pub outside so it’s a little loud at night. But that didn’t really bother us.

Notre séjour pour notre anniversaire de mariage était parfait. L'emplacement est à proximité du centre mais assez excentré pour être au calme. Notre hôte était vraiment très accueillant. Nous conseillons de rester boire un verre au pub pour discuter avec lui. Nous aurions voulu tester le restaurant mais malheureusement il était fermé ce weekend. Je sais où je retourne dormir lorsque je vais à Dublin 😊
