Loved the location— being on the beach, having a company like Sonny’s right there on the beach to enjoy fun activities, being very close to the water park, places to dine, a gas station. Also, appreciated that though I would have preferred the bathroom to be more thoroughly cleaned in my room, the front desk staff texted me to check in, I relayed any concerns that I had and it was noted and properly addressed.

The parking should be included in the price for overnight guests. But nothing major, it was a pretty great property overall. I would stay there again and recommend others there as well. Oh, in the “regular” rooms outside of the condos, there is a refrigerator but no microwave, that’s dumb. I believe you should have both!

We loved EVERYTHING! The room and view from the room were absolutely perfect, all drinks we had from the bar at the pool and the bar inside were amazing, the pool itself was beautiful and relaxing. Also, complimentary margaritas upon arrival? YES PLEASE!! One of the best things about this property though? The customer service from every single staff member was 10/10! This was our first time here and we will be back for sure!

Beautiful room, we arrived in SPI at one pm and we're able to get our room and enjoy our stay without having to go back to the car etc. Very happy with the customer service experience. We were greeted with margaritas as well. Excellent!

The refrigerator didn't get very cold but the ice machine was right outside the door so it wasn't really a problem.

We did not get the room we asked for. The bathroom door would not close. No safety mat in the bathtub making it very easy to slip. That is important to a senior citizen.

We stayed in one of the condos on the 11th floor. It was the perfect size for 4 adults and 2 kids. Great view from the balcony. They had tons of warm pool towels, bar food was yummy, and the pool is warmed. Steps away from umbrellas on the beach.

For the premium price (which we wouldn't pay again) we were not happy that the kitchen utensils and plates were rusty or dirty. There is no room cleaning for the condos unless we wanted to pay more, which isn't a problem except without a broom or vacuum there was sand everywhere.

The beach access was the best part! We did not utilize the pool as it was always packed but looked nice. Enjoyed the outdoor seating to people watch and relax. Also enjoyed the balcony view of the beach from our room, it was a great addition.

We stayed two nights and on day two we saw the cleaning crew in our hallway making their way through the rooms. We spent some time downstairs to allow them privacy to clean our room as ours was next in line. However, when we went back up, they had skipped our room and came back around 7pm to clean it. It was an inconvenience because we needed towels and of course had sand everywhere from the beach. The restaurant was also not very good, we were seated and no one came to take our drink order or greet us for about 15 minutes and there were only 2 other families in the restaurant. The food was also not the best and very overpriced. None of this would prevent me from coming back but I like reading detailed reviews so just giving our honest experience.

The cold room!

I booked our stay at Margaritaville Beach Resort in South Padre based on the positive reviews, especially those mentioning the cold rooms, comfortable beds, and convenient walking distance to the beach. I can say those parts were absolutely true. The room stayed nice and cool, the bed was very comfortable, and the beach was just a short walk away. Unfortunately, there were several disappointments during our stay. On our first night, we stopped at the LandShark Bar. It appeared there may have only been one bartender working, which I understand can be challenging. However, during the 15 minutes we waited, he never once acknowledged us, made eye contact, or took our order. We eventually left without being served. The pool itself was very nice, but the way the alcohol policy was enforced really took away from the vacation experience. Security continuously walked around the pool area checking guests’ ice chests. If alcohol was found, it was immediately confiscated without giving guests the opportunity to simply return it to their rooms. I also overheard other guests saying their beer was taken from their coolers and thrown away. While I understand resorts have rules that should be followed, there is a respectful way to enforce them. We all work hard for our vacations and deserve to be treated with courtesy. Unfortunately, the security officer’s approach felt more intimidating than welcoming. Another issue was the women’s restroom near the pool, which had a very strong sewage odor. It was unpleasant and should be addressed. The highlight of our stay was the housekeeping staff. They were friendly, professional, and did an excellent job keeping our room clean. Another disappointment was the limited operating hours. The pool bar closed at 6:00 p.m., and the resort store/coffee bar also closed early each evening. As a result, guests had to leave the resort to buy snacks, drinks, or other necessities that could have easily been available on-site.

Everything was great with one exception. The public restrooms are a real problem. There is only one men's and one womans for the restaurant,the bar,the outside patio and the swimming pool. The pool is where the problem starts because people come into the lobby area after just getting out of the pool bringing pool water with them and making the restroom floors wet and slippery. By the end of the day the floors are dangerously wet and slippery and the urine smell is overwhelming. A separate restroom facility for pool guests would be so much better and much safer for slippery and fall hazards.

The entire hotel smelled like sewer. Asked the front desk about it and was told in the summer time, that is just the way it is because it is so hot outside. Room service came at 7o'clock to clean and change towel. We ate at LandShark, I found a hair in my salad. We didn't eat at the hotel again.

Umbrella and chairs should have been included, 100 for two chairs and an umbrella is outrageous, then you only can have until a certain time, I believe 6 pm. Paying daily for parking was also crazy. Stayed at resorts before and always was included as this one should have been, especially for the price of the condo. Also king bedroom bed smelled of pee. Notified the resort on text messages when they asked how things were and our experience. She notified that we would not be charged for it , in what way I do not know, but it didn’t reflect on our bill.

The condo room 323 was the worst stay for my family. Extremely Disappointed – Not the Quality We Expected My family and I recently stayed at Margaritaville Beach Resort South Padre Island, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. From the moment we entered the room, it was obvious that maintenance and upkeep had been neglected. We encountered numerous issues, including a light over the stove that didn’t work, a garbage disposal that was inoperable, a ceiling fan in the main bedroom with only three blades, broken furniture, and other signs of excessive wear throughout the condo. The room simply did not reflect the quality or condition we expected based on the resort’s reputation and nightly rate. Over $700 per night. Cleanliness was also a concern. The property appeared tired and in need of attention, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy our vacation. One of the biggest disappointments was that management did not seem genuinely concerned about our experience. While we reported the issues, we were left feeling that guest satisfaction was not a priority. The location is beautiful, with convenient beach access and a nice pool area, but those positives could not outweigh the condition of the accommodations. A resort of this caliber should ensure that rooms are properly maintained before guests arrive. Based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again unless significant improvements are made to room maintenance, cleanliness, and overall quality control. We we told by management that we would receive reimbursement for the inconvenience but as of today, that has not happened. Unless your standards are low with quality, I would not recommend staying in room 323.

The room was excellent, we stayed in a condo and it was great that even though we had our son with us there was plenty of privacy. I enjoyed the view, it was called a partial view but it felt like a full view to me because I could see the beach and the water.

I didn't like that the restaurant was so limited, no options for people who don't eat shell fish and pork, but they did make a scampi with fish for me that was delicious, if they had better dinner options I don't think we would have went out to eat much at all. I've been to a few islands like the US VI, Jamaica and the Bahamas but as far as a hotel is concerned this stay was the best. (I know the question is what didn't I like but there was very little to say.)

The theming of the hotel is spot on. A lot of attention to detail went into the decore in both the common areas and the room. Great view of the launch pad for SpaceX flight. The valet was friendly and made us feel welcome. The check in person was also great! Breakfast was better than expected for a hotel breakfast and the location is superb. Great view of beach from pool area and easy access to beach. The beach was well maintained.

We arrived on Sunday night and the pool bar was closed. Lots of people in the pool but no easy way to obtain a drink. The only negative staff experience was at the front desk in the morning. The staff person came from a place of no on two separate interactions. She should either be retrained or find another line of work that doesn't require interacting with customers. When we checked out I asked for an invoice and was told that Booking.com would have to provide even though I had added items like meals and valet to bill and wanted to verify accuracy before leaving.

They down graded us to a regular room without telling us. The best they could do was comp a lunch. We couldn't see the Space X launch pad which is why we selected and paid for a Premium Sky Room. There were people doing drugs at the pool at night and the room was maybe standard if there hadn't been dry rust water coming from the mounted wall lamp. The AC sounded like an old 10k generator and the bed was lumpy. Wear swim shoes to the pool it has sharp, rocky bits sticking up and good luck trying to order a drink.

You can’t use their margaritaville gift cards there. We bought $100 before going and never could use it. They don’t accept it because they are newest? So now we are stuck with it. Drinks didn’t have much alcohol if any at all. I have a sensitivity to alcohol and I never felt it. Yet they were giving free drinks to girls at the pool bar who were hammered and shouldn’t have been served anymore and those drinks I could smell the alcohol. At one point there was vomit in the pool bar area.

The rooms, were clean and mold free ( big deal at the coast). The ambiance of the facility helped reach a relaxed state of mind. The staff was friendly.

The cleanliness of the pool was only acceptable, with the amount of people visiting a night and morning clwan routine would help the water quality. Also the smell of garbage needa to be better contained and the smell around the swim bar needs attention. The food at the grill was also only acceptable. You could not go wrong with the burgers and fries they were good but the fancier options were not good for exemple the shrimp fettucini were a disaster so bitter and sand were in the bottom of the sauce.

The towels by the pool were often empty & had to find a team member to inform them that you were waiting. They did go to get them when asked, but it was a bit of a delay. I wish they mopped a bit more as well. But overall, liked my experience.

Coffee shop took 20-25 mins then forgot our breakfast croissant. She then rudely through it together and tossed the bag to the counter! Landshark service was very however staff was nice.

It seems like its falling apart. A/C didn't work, entrance doors to the hotel itself got stuck right in front of me, elevator alarm got triggered on its own out of the blue. Staff is unhelpful in resolving issues. 2 bedroom condo costed us about 800 a night, yet it has A/C units that are usually installed in cheap motels, and they don't even work properly. Feels like management just milks the money from it with minimal investment towards it - just to keep the lights on.

Our stay at Margaritaville Beach Resort South Padre Island was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. We're a military family with two young children, and vacations are rare and something we truly look forward to. We paid out of pocket for this trip and expected much better. The problems started at check-in. We were initially given access to the wrong room because our wristbands were programmed incorrectly. After returning to the front desk, we were finally assigned our actual room. As soon as we walked in, there was such a strong chemical smell that it was difficult to breathe. At first, we thought it was cigarette smoke. We notified the front desk immediately and were told someone would come right away. After waiting about 30 minutes—and making another trip downstairs because my children couldn't stay in the room due to the overwhelming odor—we finally learned the smell was from fresh paint after recent patchwork. The room had little to no ventilation, making the smell unbearable. We were eventually moved to another room. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. The second room also showed obvious signs of patchwork and needed significant updates. We later experienced power outages on one side of our room three different times. The first two times the power eventually came back, but on our final night it went out again, along with several neighboring rooms. While power issues can happen, what was most disappointing was the lack of urgency and concern from the staff. There was little communication and no apology for the inconvenience. We also had to wait 45 minutes just to receive face towels. When you're traveling with young children, basic necessities shouldn't take nearly an hour to arrive. The only highlight of our stay was the pool. Our kids had a wonderful time swimming, and that was truly the best part of the trip. Everything else—from the room conditions to the maintenance issues, customer service, and even the parking situation—left us extremely disappointed. I will be including photos of the ceiling and the condition of the room we were moved into because they speak for themselves. I had heard so many positive things about this resort from Texas travel pages and family recommendations, but unfortunately, that was not our experience. I cannot recommend staying here. If I had found an Airbnb after the first night, I honestly would have moved my family there instead. Save your money and look elsewhere.

We drove down from San Antonio for what was supposed to be a special weekend trip, but our experience at Margaritaville was incredibly disappointing. This trip was on our bucket list because we had heard so many great things, but the reality did not live up to the brand's name. ​The Check-In Disaster ​Before booking, I contacted the resort to request an early check-in since we were driving from far out of town for just a one-night stay. I was told, "Rest assured, early check-in is available for a fee," which I gladly agreed to. ​We arrived on Saturday around 1:00 PM, we were given a key to the "last available room." When we walked into the room, there was a naked man inside. ​Shocked, we went straight back to the front desk. Instead of an apology, the clerk gave me an attitude and snapped that check-in wasn't until 4:00 PM. I explained that we had a pre-approved early check-in so we could change and enjoy the pool and beach, but she simply told us no rooms were available because they had given them to other guests first. ​Broken Promises & Poor Amenities ​While we were waiting at the resort restaurant to grab a bite to eat, a manager called to let us know a room was ready. To make up for the naked stranger incident, he promised us a free dinner. Unfortunately, that free dinner never happened—it was an empty promise. ​When we finally got into a room, it was sufficient, but the rest of the property was highly underwhelming: ​The Hotel Cleanliness: The entire property was very dirty. The bathrooms looked like they hadn't been deep-cleaned in ages. ​The Atmosphere & Drinks: The pools were overrun with kids who showed zero respect for older guests, and the drinks at the bar were sub-par. ​The EV Charger Situation: No one polices the EV charging stations. Despite clear signs stating "No Overnight Parking," people leave their cars parked there indefinitely, completely blocking anyone else from having the opportunity to charge their vehicles. ​Final Verdict ​We will never return to this location. Aside from our terrible customer service experience, South Padre Island is just too far of a drive from San Antonio for what you actually get. If you want a beach weekend, you are much better off driving to Galveston. You will get the exact same environment, but with far more options and better service.

Check in was at 4 pm and they had us waiting for about an hour and a half due to room not being available. Was woken up to a flood room at 4:30am and water coming out of bathroom light fixture from floor above. Was move to another room walked in on sleeping family because the room was already occupied. Had to go to reception and let them know the room was occupied and got moved once again. Only had 4hours of sleep.

Rosie was super amazing checking us in! We stayed for the Texas police games and everything was great and accessible!

The pool and beach access are the best parts of this hotel. The hotel itself, on the room floors have a very musty smell throughout. Also, we had to change rooms due to ROACHES being in our original room. We didn't see anymore roaches in our room once we moved however, the room still smelled musty, the door to the room was janky and the tub was severely stained. I did manage to enjoy some my stay due to the pool and beach access.

I have been waiting to visit Margaritaville SPI for a year. 1) the complaints about parking being a bit far from the hotel are very valid. Bring a wagon or something if you’re doing self park. Valet parking was $25 a day. 2)I wish there was more info on the website about spa services at Sapphire Spa( located downstairs but outside the building), I probably would have booked services before my stay. 3) the issues with water temperature in the shower are also valid, I came home from dinner and was ready for a hot shower and bed. I couldn’t get any hot water no matter how long I ran it and wasn’t willing to take a cold/tepid at best, shower. So I had to turn it off and wait 20 minutes for it to get hot. Then I had hot-ish water. 4) My largest complaint is the quality of the cleanliness overall, but mainly in the bathroom. If a bathroom isn’t cleaned properly, that is a huge issue for me. When I first got to the room, I noticed the first hand towel I went for, had makeup on it. I was going to let that slide, until I was able to take my hot shower and saw someone had drawn a heart on the shower wall/door, with their name. Now sweet as that is, Kami is not my name and it tells me that this bathroom. REALLY was not cleaned properly after the last guest. I am so sad that this is the “luxury resort” the island has to offer, and at the price I paid for the night, I really should be able to walk away saying “I can’t wait to come back”. Sadly my overall feeling was, disappointment and a feeling of save your money and just go with the Hilton next door. The front desk was barely manned when I got up to address the issues before checkout. I checked twice before 8:30 so I could speak with someone but no one was around. The one saving grace was that Amelie G was so hospitable at check in AND at check out when I did tell her about my issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom. The beach access was great. The pool was very full of families and kids, so if you want more of a romantic or quiet getaway, I would suggest finding an adults only resort.

The hotel was very nice all in all. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the live music each night as well as the live DJ at the pool during the day. The swim up bar was super fun and the bartenders were quick and kind. The restraint on site is the Landshark and it’s GOOD. The chicken tenders feed 2 and the burger was super flavorful. Being ocean front was a huge plus and we got up and rented chairs and an umbrella each day ($50 for a full day -1 umbrella and 2 chairs). Cons: The showers don’t have doors OR a nook for a woman to put her foot on the shave her legs. Neither the room nor the entire hotel have a microwave to reheat leftovers. The in resort “shop” for necessities is supposed to stay open until 10 and it closed before 6 one night we were there and 8 another. I needed Tylenol and it was closed. There are no hot tubs on site.

The good: Good location right on the beach. Comfortable bed. Nice big pool with a pool bar. Pool towels provided. The restaurant was pretty good. The not so good: not enough chairs by the pool. The partial ocean view high floor room 603 was a waste of money. You can not see the beach or ocean from the room. You have to stand on the balcony and look to the left. You can not really even see it from sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the tiny balcony because they are too low and there is a black plastic mesh cover on the railing. The floors in the room were dirty. Housekeeper didn’t show up until 6pm on our third night and then they just left towels, coffee and water and only left us with one coffee cup. I guess they took the other one.

We booked an ocean front condo, two bedroom, but the band right below us plays until 11:00 pm- can’t sleep- sounds like they are right outside our door! Hotel said they may go longer, no offer to help or control volume! Two awful nights with band screaming into the mics- ridiculous. First condo had WiFi issue and tv didn’t work. Moved us to another- but phone doesn’t work and not the high floor we requested. Staff is inflexible and unwilling to help. Last night ai called for 3 hours and no answer at front desk. Hotel did not warn us of this. Will NEVER consider this low-quality resort again.

Attended the LRGV Stormwater Conference held at this location. Let me tell you...5 Star accommodations! All staff members were super friendly and full of positive energy. Place was so clean, room was perfect, and the Landshark Restaurant was on point.

We’re having a great time at the Margaritaville South Padre! It’s such a beautiful hotel/resort and the staff has been great. We are staying in condo #1021 which is gorgeously decorated & we love that it is oceanfront & therefore has the most amazing views! Highly recommend this resort & asking for this condo in particular if you are traveling with more than 2 people.
