Beautiful views from our Seaview Lodge. The staff were excellent. Food was excellent and our Seaview Lodge was exceptionally clean 🥰
Excellent hotel and spa
Superb location.
Room was too hot and heating in bathroom couldn’t be turned off
The staff were very friendly and so willing to help. Great food and a very good selection of 0% drinks for myself
None
The spa is brilliant
Nothing, it’s all great.
The location was great, the breakfast was OK. liked the presentation on the tables but see below.
My eggs benedict was not great, the eggs were hard, there wasn't much hollandaise sauce and it was a bit dried up, the muffins were incredibly tough. It was as if it had been prepared earlier and reheated. I played safe the next day and had smoked salmon and scrambled egg! Our evening meals - starters and desserts were excellent, main courses not so good.
Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable beds. Fantastic views. Great spa facilities.
Lovely location, hotel and v helpful staff.Lookout restaurant superb.
Would have like a mini fridge in our room
Very well appointed in an excellent location with magnificent views.
The only snags that I would suggest about the accommodation are; 1. There was no ventilation in the en-suite. 2. The water pressure in the shower was not that powerful.
The location and the view was fantastic
No children allowed in the pool was a disappointment. 2 of the staff were very poor, one accused me of not paying a bill which I had paid Ordered wine for room service, and it didn’t arrive. Worst stay we as a family have had ever.
New spa area is fantastic
Service in the outlook area Helpfulness of staff Room a bit run down, hook falling off wall, picture fittings on wall with no picture, fire escape plan fell off wall in the middle of the night. Shower was not powerful. Room was too warm.
Staff were wonderful. A lovely setting and live music on each night.
Very good room with an excellent view
Staff mixed in attitude. Bedroom cleaning too late and not consistent. Most restaurant staff good. Most food disappointing, especially breakfast which promised more than it delivered.
Everything about the hotel was superb. The staff were lovely, and the food and drink were tremendous. I highly recommend this hotel for the future.
Everything was wonderful, so this question doesn't really apply.
Breakfast was very good. great view from hotel. guy playing the music was good
too far to walk to beach. Booked online and probably paid too much.
Spa and breakfast were great.
Spa was not included in the hotel booking, surprised to have to pay £35 extra per person. The trifle dessert in the lookout restaurant was not nice and tasted very synthetic. The room temperature was roasting sitting at 26° even during the night which we were unable to change. We put on the fan provided but couldn't sleep with the noise of it. Had no view in room 208 .
Location, outdoor pool, hotel decor, friendly staff, delicious food.
Would have liked tissues and body lotion in room. Most other 4* hotels provide these.
Good location, great views
Getting robbed - having to pay £90 extra to use the spa on top of an expensive 1 night stay, SOME front of house staff very cheeky
The location was stunning, amazing views. Staff were very attentive and polite, food in lookout was delicious.
Would have preferred a buffet breakfast, and food in restaurant was a bit expensive,
The breakfasts were freshly cooked to order. The high tea display of pastries and granola was an elegant touch. Excellent standard of produce.
Prices seemed a lot higher than our previous visit. We were also charged to enter the spa.
Best spa/hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff were brilliant, spa wonderful, restaurant superb. Can't be faulted.
Unable to find anything!
Good view
Still work to be done
The suite looking onto the sea was warm, cosy, comfortable and had a fantastic panoramic view of the sea. I could have sat there all day just looking at the view……was cleaned impeccably every day. Breakfast in the style of afternoon tea… just genius. Staff couldn’t do enough to help, especially as we needed a lot of taxi info for all the trips we were packing in. Thank you so much :) Also shout out to the reception staff at the spa, so kind and lovely. Thank you :) Lastly, the cakes……..amazing doesn’t do them justice! Thanks to all the staff who made our trip so special. We will be back soon!
Nothing. Ignore the negative reviews. They are so wrong!
De welness faciliteiten.
Het ontbijt.
Location was excellent for sightseeing and enjoying the area.
none really.
We had an accessible room and it was very big with a really well laid out bathroom. Super shower. Loads of room. The dining roomand bar had superb views. The hotel was very tastefully designed.
The town of Ballycastle was a disappointment. Very down at heel so you have to travel. However the scenery was great.
High quality throughout
Room too hot at night
The place was beautiful, friendly staff. Clean facilities..good WiFi in the rooms.
The Lookout Restaurant was incredibly underwhelming in terms of taste and value. Very limited vegan options and honestly just not nice at all. For a vegan pizza and simple pasta dish, a coke and a glass of wine, the bill came to £52. It just was not worth it at all. I had also reserved a table prior to arriving, alongside a welcome slate for our anniversary, it was confirmed over the phone as booked, but upon arrival to the restaurant, there was no booking. It didn't take them long to find us a seat however. But unfortunately, the surprise slate plate for my husband was not included. Overall, the dining experience was a black mark on our stay.
Facilities, location and staff.
Price is slightly high
The rooms and breakfast were of excellent standard.
The use of the pool was an additional charge
Breakfast was lovely with a good range of food available. Rooms a good size & beds very comfortable. Spa was lovely & had an amazing seaweed treatment overlooking the ocean & wonderful views.
Sitting area outside of apartment was lovely with great views, however no table/chairs to sit on. Required like others to take chairs from inside to outside. The gym was not open at 8 am!! Very disappointing. A nice walk into Ballycastle all downhill - coming back to hotel was all up hill! Maybe offering a shuttle service down to town would be a great idea.
Breakfast was excellent rooms very comfy and quality decor. Staff top notch.
Nothing
Location close to town, approx 2 mile walk or drive.
We stayed at The Salthouse Hotel in Ballycastle for one night as a family of four, with our children aged 16 and 13. The hotel is clearly aiming to offer an upmarket, modern experience, and a significant amount of money has obviously been invested in the property. Unfortunately, while the setting and décor were impressive, the overall experience was let down by poor attention to detail, inconsistent service and, most importantly, serious issues during our evening meal. We were allocated Room 305, described as a Suite with Sea View. To be fair, there was a sea view, and the accommodation was spacious, with a small living room and kitchenette-style area, a separate bedroom and a sofa bed prepared for the children. The room itself was comfortable and generally fine. However, only two towels had been provided for four guests, so I had to contact reception. Additional towels were delivered reasonably quickly. My wife had also forgotten cotton pads, and when I asked whether the hotel had any amenity packs containing facial pads, I was advised that only dental packs were available. We had booked dinner in the hotel’s main restaurant, which is described by the hotel as fine dining. The menu looked promising, but the service got off to a very poor start. After a female member of staff had taken our drinks order, a male server came over to the table and simply said, “Go.” I was unsure what he meant and said, “Sorry?” He then responded along the lines of, “What do you want? Go.” It was abrupt, rude and completely out of keeping with the type of service expected in a restaurant presenting itself as fine dining. We ordered a Gran Reserva Rioja. While I briefly left the table to familiarise myself with the hotel, a different and less expensive Rioja was brought to the table and opened. No explanation was given. When I returned and questioned the bottle, the waitress checked with colleagues and eventually confirmed that the wine we had selected was unavailable.
Absolutely stunning hotel in a stunning location. Clean, comfortable, excellent staff, brilliant food.
Nothing. Exceptional! Think it would be better to include Spa access in the price though.
If you’re headed toward Ballycastle, this is the spot for you. Great hotel with two good restaurants and a fantastic spa area where you can enjoy two pools, a hot tub, saunas and steam rooms (for a modest upcharge - (but worth it after a day of exploring). The setting is incredible the atmosphere truly enjoyable. The service in the restaurant was “leisurely” but we were not in any hurry.
Beautiful setting and coffee/scones. However, this is the 2nd time I have visited the hotel and both times I have sensed amniosity amongst the staff working together. All of the times I have visited the hotel the staff have been arguing amongst themselves creating quite an uncomfortable atmosphere for the guests. The first time the bar manager was shouting at the staff to collect orders from the bar and complaining saying “does no one work here” with quite an angry look on his face. The other times this same man was complaining about an alcohol license again in front of the guests very irritated and raising his voice at staff to the point where staff had to remind him that customers were watching. Not to mention the service was very slow as a result of this. I think the staff should be more mindful of their audience as it can make guests feel quite awkward and can look quite unprofessional. Just a suggestion as wouldn't want to spoil this beautiful hotel with a tense atmosphere!
Good except for view outside room.birds nest and bird poo on windowsill..food was just ok.our meals were lukewarm..lamb was chewy ! Service in bar was good.
Booked the Salthouse for a relaxing experience for my wife and I. I paid GBP320 for a basic room. In comparison I live in Hong Kong and you can stay at the best rated hotels in the world for that price. The room itself was confortable and clean, but a very basic room. When I arrived, I asked what time the pool was open, and was informed it would cost me and additional GBP90 (GB45 per person) to use the pool. The reason for this is we booked through booking.com and not directly which was in the terms and conditions. This ruined my trip from the start and I told them this. To charge another GBP90 to use the facilities after paying over 300 for the room is insane. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion that a company targets people for extra money who book through site THAT SALTHOUSE offers their rooms on. I was told I should always read the Terms and conditions by the manager which I thought was rude. My friend paid GBP500 for a suite and they still charged him gbp45 for the facilities. I then went and read the terms and conditions, it stated the cost was GBP20, and I reported this back. They said these were the old terms that had not been updated. Thy honoured the GBP20 pp. The spa itself in my opinion is nothing special, especially for that price. It has two small swimming pools, a sauna (Luke warm), steam room and a salt room which doesnt really do much in my opinion. I was expecting decent facilities like ice baths and infrared saunas the way this new state of the art spa was described. The new bar areas is nice for a drink and the restaurant food was lovely but expect to pay for it. We then wanted a late check the next day and surprise surprise, GBP20 per hour extra. Overall, very dissappointed. Salthouse is in my opinion not worth the money in any way shape or form and my experience overall was a negative one. I would choose Galgorm over this every time.
Overall clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast. Unfortunately after paying for bed and breakfast, on arrival was informed that spa was open but to use pool, sauna etc you have to pay £45 per person and facilities only open until 8pm in evening and the next morning 10am for overnight guests. For us as a couple to pay an extra £90 to use pool and sauna this seems very expensive and not worth it. For guests staying I feel this should be complimentary of the price paid.
We had a perfect mini break at The Salthouse. The room was lovely, food beautiful and staff extremely helpful. The team at check in/check out were exceptional.
The hotel was exceptional, the staff were very friendly, the rooms were spotless and the restaurant and bar were well stocked and value for money, I shall definitely go there again.
Great experience hotel excellent in every way
Excellent location. Beautiful scenic views. Rooms really clean and comfortable. In addition, the food was beautiful and the staff were extremely helpful. The team at check in/check out were exceptional.
Fantastic friendly staff
Poor menu very little choice and bar menu was the same as restaurant menu
Beyond he wildest dreams of our party of 6. The lodge exceeded our expectations We all thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday Evening Dinner and the breakfast was incredible we expected either continental or cooked and were blown away when we got both
Tried to cancel a booking at this hotel Tried phoning for over two hrs forty min Three messages Two emails No one contacted me dispite asking for a manager to phone me Received a email three days later confirming the booking was cancelled I received another email saying that someone will contact me . At the time of writing this email I still have not been contacted if this is a representation of this company's level of customer service I would think long and hard before considering booking this establishment
Celebrated a Birthday in one of the Lodges with friends and family. The hotel itself is nothing short of exquisite, location is a ten. Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful views. The bar area is stunning with a huge outdoor terrace area with views to Rathlin and beyond. In the good weather this would be hard to beat. Lodges are well decorated, tasteful and hot tub is a beautiful touch. The facilities of the spa (although we didnt access it this time) look beautiful with a large outdoor pool enjoying the views. The lodge i found was a little under equipped with utensils such as plates, cups, glasses. However this would be my only criticism. We even met the cute little goat that appears to belong to an adjoining house beside the Lodges. Check in smooth, check out smooth, if a little early at 10am. Bedrooms ... particularly the master in the lodge has a stunning setting. We will be back again and hope to enjoy the spa next time round.
As a local, I’m genuinely sorry to leave such a negative review as the area needs and benefits from the vision and ambition of the owners who created this beautiful place with breathtaking views. But… just an awful experience for a simple Monday lunch for a friend’s special birthday. To start with, no greeting or acknowledgment of our booking. Escorted to rear coffee table setting in almost empty restaurant. When mentioned I had specially asked for window table, was told ‘those tables are dirty’. When I said we were happy to wait for a table to be cleaned, after much huffing and puffing, we were seated. Then after several minutes, we had to request menus and waited several further minutes for drinks and food order to be taken, having decided to go for a mocktail, mains and deserts. Blank faced server with iPad took order. Food arrived and was fine, if nothing beyond any standard pub fare. Then, having finished, we we were completely ignored while unoccupied staff chatted at bar. Eventually asked at bar if we could please order desert. Arrived, and again, food was perfectly edible, but glasses from mocktail and used cutlery were left on table throughout. Had to go to bar and ask for bill, having been ignored again for a further 30 mins while several unoccupied staff chatted. Was told total amount by young server after whispered conclave with wait staff, but given no breakdown. By this point I was so dispirited and sorry to have brought my friend here for what should have been a lovely experience that I just paid the total to get away. Whole thing took 2.5 hours for 2 courses in an almost empty restaurant. Strongly advise owners to do a mystery shop - you’ve created an amazing place but, based on today, the service standards are just appalling and won’t sustain this lovely venue.
Everything was excellent: service, breakfast and dining options, ambiance, and comfort. We also loved meeting Marble the hotel cat in the courtyard!
The staff. The food and the views
The initial room odour. Suspect it was to do with the shower as the room was clean .and odour when I opened the shower door
Had a fabulous overnight stay , with visit to new spa and dinner. Check in staff were excellent , super service throughout. Very relaxed stay.
The hotel is on the side of a hill at a distance from Ballycastle. Need to drive uphill to it as to walk would be a struggle. The hotel is low rise has lots of associated chalets in its grounds. Amazing views across to Rathlin island and Torr Head from the restaurant and bar. Lovely outside places in a courtyard to sit and relax. We stayed in a King room. It was spacious with lovely decor and a big bathroom. Bed was comfortable.. The room didn’t have a mini fridge so impossible to keep drinks chilled. The wardrobe had very little space to hang clothes. A rather small window gave a view of a muddy bank. My dinner was very disappointing. No monkfish available although it was on the menu. I was recommended sea bass instead. I was not impressed with the 3 bits of fried dried up sea bass I was presented with alongside a mound of couscous not the skinny fries I had asked for. When I mentioned my fish wasn’t t good I was offered another meal but by that time I had eaten some of it and couldn’t face another meal. I was still charged the full price which was on the menu for the unavailable monkfish. I would be reluctant to recommend the restaurant.
Nice location
My wife and I booked 2 nights b&b Saturday & Sunday. We rang on Saturday morning to book the thermal spa area for 1 hour over the weekend which actually costs an extra £20 pp for the 1 hour. We where told there was no availability either day. This was extremely disappointing that we couldn't avail of the full services of the hotel
Disappointed with professionalism of food & beverage manager when the already booked hen night overtook the dining. We All Had Food To Enjoy - but weren't allowed to.!!!!!
The room was not as described and by no means luxurious! Very expensive for what we got! We complained and were moved but it cost an excess of £30 per night! We met an English couple who were also asking for a different room and were not happy about having to pay more! They said they felt ripped off and so did we! I suspect some people are put in substandard rooms hoping that they will put up with it! As for the excellent reviews I think some people must be on a different planet!! I wouldn’t dream of going back! Be careful with the description of the rooms!
Exceptional view, friendly staff, comfortable bedroom & excellent food.
Beautiful property with view of northern coastline
lunch time visit based on a recommendation by family. Well worth it, lovely views, smart modern decor and laid back atitude. Recommend the lunch time scampi and also any panini. The honeycomb sundae is too good. Will visit again
The hotel is exceptional, the staff are very friendly and also very experienced. I said I would revisit and having done so I was glad it is a memorable experience and one I look forward to repeating, thank you very much.
Breakfast was lovely with it being served to you and picking from menu.
I think thermal spa should be included in price and not restricted to a certain length of time. Sauna was not working and reported to staff.
An absolutely amazing time. The staff are so welcoming and the room was terrific. Very clean and spacious. Plenty of towels. Our meal in the main dining room was great - really delicious. Breakfast is substantial. Lovely fresh fruit, yoghurt and pastries before ordering hot food. Views from the grounds are spectacular Loved our stay.
Beautiful hotel with stunning views
Views
The staff were phenomenal
Not much
Quite disappointed. Policy of asking for a credit card upon arrival and then not allowing charges to your room at bar or restaurant! Apparently the card requirement is to cover "damages" to your room. Our room (111) was damaged already. Loose wall hangers, hole in bedspread, iron which leaked water over clothes and worst of all, a shower with a huge amount of black mould. Not good enough at any price never mind the extremely expensive rates charged. Breakfast good. Restaurant food at best average. Slightly aggressive waiter service to ask if you need more drinks which was irritating and unnecessary but kept happening over both nights. Didn't use SPA but it was unavailable anyway. Good potential but housekeeping is very poor and needs management.
My wife and I booked a 2 night trip to celebrate a significant birthday with family members. We chose a ‘sea view suite’ priced at £834 for 2 nights b&b. Having visited the property several times in the past, always very satisfied, we were happy to pay a premium for the suite. Upon checking in, I was asked for a copy of my credit card in case we caused any damage to the room. I objected to the inference that i would wilfully or otherwise cause any damage to the hotel. It turned out that the suite was not in the main building but across the car park and was actually the upper floor of a town house style terrace. The suite comprised of a small bathroom, a small bedroom & a living room. The ‘sea view’ was through a small window that you had to stand beside to enjoy the view, rather than a picture window as i had thought it would have been. Furthermore, there was no water provided in the room, nor any tissues, which i had to go to reception to request. Whilst the breakfast was good, albeit not a buffet, the food from the restaurant was poor and the service was haphazard at best having to remind staff to bring items ordered to the table. I also found it very strange that we couldn’t charge any food or drinks to the room but instead had to pay as we finished each time. Overall, a poor experience and given the price of the stay we left feeling very disappointed.
The location was beautiful, plenty of spacious parking, staff couldn't do enough for you, the food in the Lookout restaurant was beautiful, hotel interiors were out if thus works & ilI booked a back massage at the spa & I highly recommend it.
Loved everything
Overall the room was beautiful, clean and had everything in it except a little fridge however it was not a problem to bring a bucket of ice back to are room. The scenery was breathtaking from the bar and restaurant the staff from front of house onwards were friendly, attentive and nothing was a problem.
The only criticism is that in are room the shower didn't have enough power even though overall the bathroom was lovely.
The first thing that strikes you is the beautiful view from the hotel property. it looks over an expanse of both countryside and sea. The receptionist was very warm and friendly, very client oriented. The room was very comfortable, with a very good bed and plenty of pillows (a big plus for me!). Immaculately clean bathroom, well appointed. Both the dinner restaurant and the breakfast restaurant served a nice variety of very fresh and well prepared foods. All in all, highly satisfied.
Too much rain, but I guess one can't fault the hotel for that. 😄
The room was beautiful and very clean.
Honestly nothing everything was beautiful from the reception staff to everyone else who came after.
Hotel was located near plenty of things that we wanted to see, very clean, hotel services were excellent
Can't think of anything
Excellent location. Good parking.
Room was very warm even with window open.
The room was nice and we had nice staff greet us at the restaurant and bar.
The spa, currently would not rate it as a spa. The outdoor hot tub was grimey and dirty. We paid an extra £20 each to use the spa as it’s not included in your stay and for its current size and facilities it should be included. I would expect it to be at least clean but the dirt came off the hot tub when touch with our fingers so I did not use it. Awaiting staff to ring me about the spa as the receptionist said she did not have authority to do anything about the complaints upon check out. No call for 5 days now.
Great views, very nice facilities, EV chargers
Nothing!
Fantastic location, great room, really friendly and knowledgeable staff, food was very good
We couldn't charge are evening meal to our room, only a small thing, but a bit strange
Staff were amazing, location was outstanding, food and rooms were exceptional
Considering the price of the stay I feel that the use of the spa should be complementary and not an additional charge
The room, views, bar, food and staff were all fantastic. The staff were exceptional from the reception to the bar to the restaurant.
I understand that the spa area is under renovation but for the use of 1 hot tub and 1 sauna for £20 per person was in my opinion expensive.
Beautiful Hotel with stunning views.
The room was too hot and radiator couldn't be switched off.
Breakfast. Most of the staff but not the receptionist
The receptionist was unfriendly, hostile, and arrogant. She said none of my five rooms would be ready before 3 when I arrived at 130 with 6 family adults and my 14 months old and very tired grandson. She said she would come to the bar before 3 with 1 room. I spent £175 at the bar but she didn’t come. I went to reception at 3:10 pm. I stood beside her and waited for her to finish with the customer she was helping. She finished with that customer and then told me to get the backing the line and that she was too busy. I spent another £450 at dinner.
The location, the facility generally and the views were spectacular.
Service was slow, the amenities like the sauna were unavailable, there are little things with the rooms such as mini fridges that don't work properly, some poor design elements and items like the coat rack at the front door that are coming off the wall and thus unusable.
The Scenery and location is absolutely beautiful The staff are so friendly and helpful The Breakfast was superb
We stayed in the lodges Minor detail There’s very little condiments It could do with plates, knife’s, forks, Towels, Some wine glasses etc Especially if your eating in
Lovely views of Rathlin
Restaurant and bar was pricey
What an excellent hotel! Very clean and very friendly! Will definitely be back!
breakfast amazing full table service was breath of fresh air!
would have liked spa to be accessible but def return when completed!
The sauna and hot tub in front of the restaurant window.
The only good thing was the staff in restaurant plus our meal the evening we stayed.
Our bedroom 102 was filthy, then when manager came down all he did was take photos and move us to room 104 , it wasn't much better, the dust in both bedrooms was dreadful, the showers stinking, the plug hadn't been taken out and cleaned in either of the rooms for months, long hairs plug hole black , grout on tiles all stained, mirrors in bathroom toothpaste marks on them.
Maisemat, värit, ystävällisyys.
All the staff we very friendly - and I mean everyone we met. The location was beautiful. The food was great, except for the Lookout. The cocktails and Irish coffee there were also very good. The main building was also beautiful and I felt very comfortable there. The À la carte menu was divine. The breakfasts were delicious and nothing was too much trouble. I had to do some work on a lap top whilst staying and the staff did everything to help me find the right spot with plugs etc and even offered to turn down the music in the corner I sat - so thoughtful. I had planned to use the sauna facilities but due to poor health was unable to, but I certainly look forward to that next time!
The entrance door to our ‘luxury sea view’ apartment was clear and this meant it wasn’t possible to walk from the bedroom to the bathroom or sitting area without being dressed. Additionally, the outside light was on until gone 3 am one night, gone 1 am the others and the light from the apartments next to ours, uphill, shone into our apartment all the time. Lastly, providing cups and glasses was great, but with nothing to wash them it was a little tricky. Hooks on the backs of the bedroom doors would provide a place to hand the gorgeous robes. Windows in the upstairs sitting room could have been bigger to really enjoy the location. We both ordered lasagne from The Lookout, and had fab salads and fries. The lasagne was very disappointing - a lot of tomato sauce that was sour and finely ground beef with not a hint of béchamel sauce. No, we didn’t complain as the cocktails and everything else was very good, but we didn’t return.
Beautiful location and facilities were lovely. Breakfast was wonderful.
Canny think of anything
Everything, it was wonderful.
The only complaint we had is we couldn’t stay longer.
