I would have given our stay 5 stars, as the hotel itself is beautiful and we had a wonderful experience overall. Unfortunately, our last day was completely overshadowed by an extremely rude and inconsiderate front desk manager. (Only her because all the rest of the team was very helpful during our both stays) I had a reservation through Booking.com for an accessible room with a roll-in shower through Monday, August 24, as well as a second room through Sunday, August 23. Despite having clear confirmation of this reservation, this manager insisted that we had to check out of the accessible room on Sunday because, according to her, the hotel had made a mistake in their system when assigning the rooms. My father has been in a wheelchair for 30 years. A roll-in shower is not a preference or a luxury for him, it is a necessity. Without an accessible shower, he simply cannot bathe. Our Booking confirmation clearly showed that the accessible room was reserved through August 24. What was most upsetting was not only that this manager refused to find a solution to a problem caused by the hotel, but also the way she treated us. While I was trying to explain the situation, with my father sitting next to me in his wheelchair, she asked me to step aside so she could continue assisting other guests with their check-outs. Her attitude was dismissive, disrespectful, and completely lacking in empathy. It is incredibly disappointing that a hotel this beautiful would allow a guest with accessibility needs to be treated this way. Accessible accommodations are a necessity, not something that can simply be taken away because of an internal hotel error. The rest of our stay was excellent. Management should seriously reconsider who they place in a front desk leadership position, especially when that person is responsible for handling situations involving guests with disabilities. If the hotel is unable or unwilling to honor the room type and dates confirmed through Booking.

Overpriced - $100 a night to park is quite frankly ridiculous! Breakfast was very expensive. As were drinks. Not enough beds by the pool.

Tatty, cheap furnishings. pool was a disgusting colour so didn't use. Completely understaffed.

Kamer werd vergeten om schoon te maken, moesten we om vragen. We kregen eerst nog een kamer zonder zeezicht. We hadden geboekt met zeezicht. Moesten erg lang wachten, voor we een andere kamer kregen. Bar cocktails die op de kaart stonden, hadden ze sommige niet. Dat was niet 1 dag maar hele week zo. Je werd niet bediend bij de bar op terras. Het ging niet allemaal van harte. ‘s avonds is er geen bediening en het nodigt niet uit om dan wat te drinken. Als je alle trappen op en af moet om wat bij de bar te halen. Restaurant eten prima. Je kan daar tot 11 uur ‘s avonds een drankje halen, maar bezorgen niet op terras naast het restaurant. Het lijkt of het restaurant erbij hoort, maar is toch gescheiden van het hotel.

Rooms weren't really kitted out for a week long family holiday stay. No windows opened. No where to hang / dry swim suits. Minimal storage.

не понравилось. Первое: заходишь в комнату в нос бьет плесенью, я начала кашлять. ужас. потом мы отключили кондиционер и вроде бы запах прошел. Я заметила в Америке не первый раз и такое повторялось часто. Ужасно не чистят кондеры. нас было трое кровать одна, лежали втроем на одной кровати. Кровать большая, я выпросила одеяло для себя. Зная что мы втроем, они не удосужились приготовить необходимое. Все так медленно, одеяло принесли через 2-3 часа, напоминала два раза. Халатов и тапочек было две, а нас трое, оплату берут за троих и нормальных услуг нет. черти что, это очень не понравилось. В других отелях чайники были тут у них ничего нет ни чайников для чая и нет кофемашинки.

Güzel, temiz, konumu süper çalışanları güler yüzlü bir otel

Отношение к гостям на ресепшен, отношение парковщика (лысого), очень милая девушка менеджер, и очень вежливый парковщик в очках, приятные горничные, хорошо убирают номера. К счастью, путешествуем мы много и нам есть с чем сравнить. Из-за длительного выселения из отеля мы потеряли авиабилеты, опоздали на следующий рейс и потеряли деньги. Будьте готовы к очередям на ресепшен и к невозможности решить оперативно финансовые вопросы. Помимо этого, в конечном счете обнаружили напитки из бара, чем мы ни разу не пользовались и даже не заходили. Будьте внимательны!!! Очень, очень неприятно!!! Обман в отеле такого уровня - ну зачем. ??( Помимо этого в стоимости при бронировании через booking все tax включены в стоимость, отель списал из второй раз - опять же при выселении. А это 100 долларов за 4 ночи. Почему мы должны платить дважды, пока неизвестно. Вернулись бы? НЕТ, несмотря на все плюсы, сегодняшние слезы и нервы при выселении испортили все впечатление об отеле и принесли нам материальные потери не по нашей вине. И еще имейте в виду, на букинге это не указано. При бронировании пишут, что завтрак включен в стоимость проживания (если вы бронируете номер с завтраком), а по факту это кредит на 60 долларов на двоих, и каждый день два блюда и два капучино - выходит сумма больше. Имейте в виду при бронировании , завтрак включен частично, чтоб это не оказалось сюрпризом как для нас. Ждем ответа от менеджмента по поводу возврата tax. И любой компенсации за нервы, слезы и неиспользованные авиабилеты в канун моего дня рождения.

I stay here off and on for a long business trips. The place is modern with a cozy resort feel. Special shoutout to Lexi, is the most hospitable bartender I’ve met in a while and her cocktails are amazing. Eric in valet is so attentive. The staff overall is top notch. I always feel at home when I’m here.

I’ve stayed at many resorts, but the experience I had with Eric Jesuus David was on a completely different level. From the moment I arrived, he brought an energy, professionalism, and genuine care that you just don’t come across often he didn’t just park my car, he elevated my entire stay. Every interaction felt intentional, warm, and above and beyond what anyone would expect. Eric is truly the kind of person who defines what exceptional service looks like. Because of him, this wasn’t just a great stay it became a memorable experience I’ll talk about and come back for. I can honestly say I’ll be returning to this resort specifically because of the way he made me feel. Absolute legend.

I absolutely loved my stay at Sandbourne. Everyone I met there was incredibly kind and welcoming, it’s the people who truly make this hotel stand out. Valet attendant Diego was amazing, as was the entire front desk staff. I hope to come back soon!

We actually came to the hotel just to go to the restaurant, and Eric ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the experience. From the moment we interacted with him, he was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and just genuinely kind in a way that felt very natural—not forced or overly scripted like you sometimes see in hospitality. He made us feel comfortable right away and paid attention to little details that really elevated the whole night. What stood out most was how effortlessly professional he was while still being personable. You can tell he truly cares about the experience guests are having, and that kind of attitude makes a huge difference. Eric is exactly the kind of person who represents a place well, and I honestly think he deserves opportunities to take on even bigger roles. Staff like him are rare and make people want to come back.

My stay at Shoreside Santa Monica Hotel had spectacular service a huge shout-out to waitress Lorena, the Chef 👨‍🍳🦐🇲🇽, Oswaldo, and Jose, and amazing manager Raul, all of them paid attention to detail, gracious, super attentive, and an assisted with any accommodations we needed without hesitation. Food recommendation: breakfast- I ordered steak (well done is still super juicy & full of flavor) and eggs with side of potatoes and I ordered this throughout my entire stay, it’s spectacular. Also try the green juice delicious! Coffee is 💯. Room #412 was awesome very clean, bed extremely comfortable firm & plushy at the same time, the best part of the room definitely has to be in the views and the shower will be the best shower of your life! (Endless Hot Water great water pressure) the see-through glass does have a privacy screen button✅. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is very relaxing, calm, quiet a perfect place for family/kids to have fun and be safe at the same time, the pool is heated & perfectly located in the center of the hotel. The bikes were comfy, easy to use (a lock is included) overall a fun experience riding alongside Santa Monica Beach. Valet parking has spectacular service, a bit on the pricey side, but very convenient all staff were pleasant & efficient. Thank you for all that you do, Raul, Lorena, Jose and Oswaldo, You all truly make a difference with our stay. 🫶🏻 Great people like them truly make our experience joyful, now we plan to return with our kids because of their vibrant, upbeat hospitality!

Well equipped modern gym & changing rooms outdoor eating areas with intimate lighting & fire pits adds a real nice touch in our opinion.

5 minutes walk to the beach...what more can you ask for! From LAX, you can easily catch route 3 to Santa Monica, a 40 minute bus ride ($2 ticket), and then you're there! Afterwards you can head north from the beach to the Pier or south to Venice Beach. Even if you're going to downtown LA, a short 10 minutes walk to the metro station and you can catch the train there, no transfer needed to Walt Disney Symphony, Broad Museum, Little Tokyo, Grand Central Market, Bradbury Building, etc. This hotel is over 20 years old, formerly known as Le Merigot, but completely revamped and rebranded as Sandbourne... very contemporary design. The lobby is very spacious, and so is our room. Our favorite is the breakfast...the menu is small but really good quality food. Will totally recommend this hotel if your budget allows.

This is a cool, modern and unpretentious property in Santa Monica, close to the beach (but not beach front). Rooms are very spacious and feel new. We had a room with two queens beds and balcony and another one with a King bed, City view. The balcony one was perhaps not worth the extra cost as the outdoor space felt oversized for the furniture and not very inviting (it's more like a concrete terrace than a balcony). The partial ocean view is really partial, although it is always nice to see a sliver of water. The City view room was well sized, facing the main street, but very quiet. Food at the restaurant was good, but the service on a Saturday morning was way too slow. There is an inviting, very small bar at the entrance and a simple, self-service convenience store. Valet parking is available for close to $90/night, which is a lot, but the only option we found nearby. There is also a pool and exercise room (the latter with very loud music!). You can walk to the main shopping area in Santa Monica or to the beach path really easily. We loved the extra touch of being able to request weighted blankets for the room in advance, with no additional costs.

The property is fully renovated, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms were larger than most hotels in that area, and I had a partial ocean view with a balcony, which was very nice. The on-site restaurant is excellent and absolutely worth trying.

Despite prepaying for my stay, the hotel placed an additional authorization for incidentals and then charged my card again, resulting in over $2,400 being tied up for a four-day stay. This over-authorization left me without access to funds over a holiday weekend while traveling with my child. The most frustrating part was that the hotel did not proactively offer a solution. I had to repeatedly escalate the issue and provide proof that I was unable to meet basic needs due to the over-authorization before they offered limited assistance. Even then, meal coverage required constant follow-up throughout the stay. Although the room itself was comfortable, the ongoing concern that my card would continue to be charged or declined made it impossible to relax or enjoy the trip.

A bit expensive for what you receive. Room service is almost double once tax and delivery is added on which is confusing since it’s coming from inside the hotel. We decided to order elsewhere.

I really wanted to love this hotel, especially given the recent renovation and the Autograph Collection branding, but unfortunately my stay was riddled with operational issues that caused real stress and financial disruption. From the start, check-in was chaotic. I arrived early and was repeatedly told conflicting information about when my room would be ready. What should have been a smooth process turned into nearly a three-hour wait, with inconsistent communication throughout. More seriously, despite prepaying for my stay through Booking.com, the hotel ran an additional authorization of over $1,200, far exceeding the stated incidental hold. This error left me temporarily without access to funds while traveling with my daughter, including over a holiday weekend when banks were closed. This alone significantly impacted our ability to eat, move around, and enjoy the trip. There were also smaller but compounding issues: * Approved complimentary amenities (weighted blankets) were not delivered until the next day, after repeated follow-up. * Food & beverage credits meant to address the situation were inconsistently applied, requiring multiple corrections. * At checkout, the system attempted to run an additional charge despite the folio showing a zero balance, forcing yet another escalation. * While some staff members were kind and tried to help, the experience at the front desk was inconsistent, and the final interaction felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude given the circumstances. To management's credit, the folio was eventually corrected to a zero balance, and documentation was provided. However, by that point the damage was done. What was meant to be a relaxing stay became a prolonged exercise in advocating for basic accuracy and access to my own money. A hotel at this price point and brand level should not put guests, especially those traveling with children, in this position. Renovated spaces don't compensate for poor systems, inconsistent service, and financial errors. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously, because the potential may be there, but execution matters.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay at Sandbourne for my birthday celebration. It's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location across from the beach. We want to express our gratitude to the incredible service and staff: Ari, Lavit, Reo, Jessie, and Nancy.

beautiful beach front property that is decorated well & has a lot of thoughtful amenities for you to enjoy the stay. Check in was a breeze, Alex made sure we had the lay of the land and helped us out with any questions we had! Thanks Alex :) We also enjoyed renting the beach cruisers and rode that along the beach, loved that they had refillable water stations throughout and lots of areas to sit. Although we didn't use this service, they offered beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Surrounded by lots of different places to eat and shop! To save some money on parking, we parked at the Metro Station 17th/SMC for $3 a day and then rode one stop to Downtown Santa Monica Station, it was then a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Would come again next time we need a staycation.

The lobby, Marelle, pool and staff were all top notch. The rooms and general decor was modern and luxurious. A really great location to access Main St, Pier, Montana and the plaza. We had a great time and even though the weather was bad we made the most of it in this wonderful hotel.

It would have been nice to see a kettle and some complimentary tea and coffee in the rooms. Bathroom was small for a double queen but on the whole lovely. The parking was valet at $70 per day which was very expensive. We were not made aware of that on booking and would have been nice to know the alternatives. The valet service was excellent however and the car was available whenever we needed it day or night. No cup lids for the complimentary coffee in the lobby. Couldn’t take them in the car because of this. Bit of a basic requirement.

Third or fourth time at this hotel. Twice when it was a JW Marriott. I'v been here twice this month (Dec 2025) and the facility is nice but lounge area is nothing special, restaurant is overpriced, no water bottles in room, no offer of water at front desk. Room heating and cooling is inefficient. Bathrooms are sparse. This hotel is not worth the money. I am here for another two nights an will likely check out and go elsewhere tonight and tomorrow night. Seems like staff needs a boost as everything and everyone is just sort of "blah".

Overall very good hotel in great location. We had room 606 (executive room) which was excellent with an amazing balcony. A few minor niggles; 1. No bath tub - appreciate this is very common these days but for such a large room, we felt this was missing. 2. Shower drainage - couldn't continuously shower without the tray flooding. Reported it in check out and they apologised and offered 10,000 Bonvoy points which was appreciated 3. No coffee machine or kettle in the room - complimentary coffee was available in the morning at the lobby bar but there is nothing like waking up and making your own coffee. 4. Complimentary breakfast for Bonvoy members - no lounge so breakfast offered in hotel restaurant and you are allocated $20 per person, however most menu items are above this and certainly by the time you add a coffee $20 is not sufficient. Service was however great and the breakfast potatoes were to die for!

Beautiful remodel of a hotel I've stayed in several times. Great location - within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the Santa Monica Pier. The room had a partial ocean view, was very clean, and the housekeeping staff was very accommodating. From the valet outside, to the bellman, and the front desk staff, they were all very friendly and welcoming. I had a small problem with the billing for my room but after speaking with Santi in Accounting, everything was taken care of. He was very understanding and handled the problem quickly and in a professional manner. I highly recommend this hotel

Lovely hotel next to the beach and very close to the shops and restaurants. I felt very safe here. The 1st night we were given a room at the front of the hotel, which was noisy from cars racing along the street, but after raising this with reception we were given a new room which was slightly smaller but lovely. The gym was superb. We did hire a cabana at the pool - which i wouldn't recommend. The pool staff had no idea what was included in the cabana package and we were bought over a fruit basket that we hadn't asked for but were still charged for?! Also we were given a menu to order from the restaurant, but when we went to the restaurant we were advised they weren't serving that menu and food options were very limited, which was just a pain!! One other minor thing, we went to hire free bikes, filled in all the paperwork only to be told (after being stood around for half an hour) that there were no bikes available at this time! Decent hotel, would definitely recommend, but not an exceptional property. Top tip there is a multistorey car park very close by which costs a fraction of what the hotel charges

Had a great stay. Staff was very accommodating. Service with a smile. Also close to Chez Jay, my favorite bar. I created an accounting mixup for myself and was professionally rescued by a young man in that department . I anticipated having to unscramble an egg and Santi made it a breeze.many thanks to him. I’ll probably need him again.
