Hôte très accueillant et attentionné ! Chambres spacieuses et confortables dans une très belle maison. Chris propose même un dîner pour le soir. On peut aussi profiter du salon de la maison et le jardin (très agréable le soir). Très bonne adresse pour visiter Soweto (avec un guide) et Johannesburg en journée !

Sandton est un quartier chic composé de maisons résidentielles très sécurisées avec des barbelés. On n’ose pas vraiment sortir la nuit tombée (et elle tombe vite). Prix du repas du soir non affiché sur la carte.

Excellent, friendly hosts. Inclusion of walking maps for local area - short walks, but good to have in a place like Joberg. Lovely room and balcony, great garden (although was a bit cold to use this time, I'm sure would be great during warmer weather).

Only very minor feedback is to include some kind of extension plug to be able to charge phone by bed.

This is the No 1 choice for a comfortable, friendly stay in Johannesburg. Sandton is one of the premier suburbs in Johannesburg. Chris and his team are fantastic and made our stay most enjoyable. Large well appointed rooms upstairs and very quiet.

Chris is an exceptional host who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. My flight arrived at 1:00 a.m., and he was there waiting to pick me up, which was incredibly reassuring after a long journey. He maintained excellent communication throughout my stay. The guest house itself is beautiful, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. Every detail in the room has been carefully considered, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I particularly loved the peaceful and quiet environment, as well as the lovely views. The location is fantastic, making it convenient to explore the area while still enjoying a relaxing retreat. The breakfast was also outstanding, fresh, delicious, and definitely worth having. I highly recommend staying here and would gladly return on my next visit. Thank you, Chris, for such a wonderful experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The property is perfectly located; it’s well laid out and charming. The breakfasts and evening meals were yummy.

The room and house are very well kept but I must say we felt that Chris went above and beyond for us. Would highly recommend you stay here.

Another great stay. Perfect for winding down for a couple of days after three weeks touring southern Africa. Comfortable, clean rooms with comfortable beds and sizeable bathroom. Nice terrace looking out onto beautiful garden. Good breakfast and strong wifi. Helpful and friendly team running the place.

Location excellent right near to Sandton Centre and Gautrain. Loved the homely feel with beautiful context specific furnishings plants and even a friendly cat - Gardens beautiful as well Really enjoyed engaging with the hosts and thank you for wonderful breakfasts :)

Great guesthouse with very, very helpful staff. A very relaxed atmosphere especially around the pool area.. Our room was big with a patio area. Breakfast was great. I would definitely recommend this lovely guesthouse

A beautifully presented property with a lovely garden aspect with pool. Everything was meticulous yet it still retained a welcoming homely feel. Chris and Alison went out of their way to assist me following an injury prior to arrival, even arranging and taking me for medical attention. I stayed longer to recover. The location was perfect for our overnight stay, and very comfortable ! The guest house is beautiful. Chris was a very attentive host, the breakfast was very good.

I would have liked a bit more “attention to detail” touches, perhaps earbuds and shower cap etc in the bathroom? If you have an “ honesty bar”, put in a couple of little bottles of wine or beers in the fridge? Your pool area is perfect for a nice sundowner! The food was freshly prepared and delicious. The environment was relaxing and had a beautiful garden. Very peaceful.

Chris, the owner, is very personable, kind and helpful, as are his partner and staff. He is wonderful to talk to about South African history and culture, having lived there much of his life. He’s full of interesting stories and is also a wonderful chef. He cooks everything but is especially proficient at vegan and vegetarian fare. The bathroom and furnishings in my room were perhaps a bit dated, but otherwise comfortable. The garden is beautiful, filled with animal sculptures made of metal, wire and beads, and the pool is lovely, though small and very cold. Roger the cat is delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed both of my stays, and would stay again. Read less

Great hospitality from the owners:) The location is perfect; you can get onto most of the highways fairly quickly without being stuck in traffic. I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely make it my home away from home when I am in Joburg.

Chris is a fantastic host and is always willing to go the extra mile. The breakfast was superb, I was able to order to my own dietary needs. The bed was very comfortable.

I had a wonderful stay! The owner and his team were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making me feel right at home. They were especially thoughtful in accommodating my vegan diet, preparing delicious and wonderful meals tailored just for me. The guest grounds are stunningly beautiful, and my room was excellent—comfortable, cozy, and immaculately clean. The location is fantastic, just minutes from shopping and great restaurants, nestled in a safe and charming walkable neighborhood. I loved my experience so much that I plan to stay here for all my future visits. Highly recommend!

Everything about this place is amazing. Its located in a nice safe neighborhood, the room is super confortable, the house itself is beautiful, the garden is peaceful, breakfast and other meals were very good, and most of all Chris was was so nice and attentive throughout our stay. We really enjoyed it!

The owners Chris and Robyn were very friendly. Had some nice conversations with Chris. Really nice. Location in Sandton was fine. Good stay.

If I remember correctly, the bed felt a bit short. But I am a troubled sleeper. Could have been me.

The guesthouse has a peaceful and homely feel and you can see that Chris cares about what he does. Breakfast was great. Had an issue with no hot water the first night, but it was resolved the next day. Some upgrades and refurbishments are needed, but overall it is still a lovely guesthouse, with a great atmosphere and location.

Chris and team were wonderfully helpful and flexible. Can’t thank Chris enough for this as it was our first time in Joburg. Very nice property and comfortable.

Chris is an excellent host - ever helpful and cheerful. He clearly loves what he does. The house and garden are beautiful, we had a good breakfast (including looking after gluten free needs). It is an easy (safe) walk to a large variety of restaurants.

Absolutely everything about this accommodation is amazing. Chris, Robyn and the staff are incredibly attentive and kind. They truly make the place what it is. Outstanding hospitality (best we have had). Facilities are clean and tastefully decorated. Food.. Just Wowwww! Breakfast and dinner were a treat. The pool is beautifully located and clean. The rooms are spacious and the bed super comfortable. The house is in a quiet and safe location, 25 min from airport. This place is a must. Don't hesitate to book. We wish we had stayed longer than 1 night.

Chris was very helpful and accommodating. He cooked a delightful dinner for us (unapt oddly as I had assumed he would recommend a restaurant) and the breakfast was delicious and bountiful.

I had not understood that we would be so far away from downtown. But it didn't matter. We were there to recover from a long airplane journey and this locale was perfect. Also, I was provided with detailed maps as to where it was safe to walk and where NOT to go.

Loved everything, but have 2 suggestions: Bottled water in room. Bed sheet for those warm evenings (down comforter lovely but too warm w/o A/C).

On both my stays at Highgrove I had to carry my heavy suitcase up the stairs to my room. At 86 years old I will not be able to do this again.

Location was excellent and breakfasts were very good as there was a wide choice.

This was my second time at the lovely guesthouse of Chris and his wonderful team! They all make you feel like you are at home. The guesthouse is located idyllically amidst much greenery, and going for a run was awesome as the area is really nice and also green. It is also located near many of the attractive sites/places in Johannesburg. The guesthouse is tastefully furbished and has a wonderful garden and a pool. Chris is an outstanding cook! You can ask him to cook dinner (and lunch), and he does so with great flexibility and according to your wishes. Breakfast is amazing, too. They offer excellent coffee.

Excellent host and very friendly staff, brilliant breakfast. The right place to stay when visiting Jhg for a couple of days.
