Everything as expected.. we picked a double room with a sofa.. which was actually another bed.. makes room lovely and big.. plenty room for storage. Located part way through our trip. Good value for money as breakfast was included. Clean and surprising peaceful night sleep for all it was a motorway location. Everyone at desk very helpful and its nice to know reception is 24 hour.
This is a basic hotel for convenience on a long motorway drive but if you adjust your expectations for that, it was excellent. It was clean, comfortable and pet friendly. Fuel and services were on the doorstep before setting off in the morning. If you're looking for a five star hotel and restaurant this is not for you but as a stop over, it was practical and I have no complaints.
Great welcome from Julie after a long, arduous journey.
we stay here every week for work and every week jean at reception makes us so welcome and helps with any problems we have
As a service station hotel my expectations weren’t the highest but I was really pleased with my stay. The room was immaculate and comfortable. The receptionist was helpful at check in. My room was at the rear of the hotel and I’m a light sleeper but even the motorway traffic didn’t wake me.
Staff at the front desk were genuinely friendly and helpful – quick check-in, answered all my questions about local spots, and even recommended a nearby diner for breakfast (solid tip!). Free parking was a big plus, and the lot felt safe and well-lit.
Stayed here, perfect hotel. No noise on the motorway. Room was big and spacious. And was very comfy bed.
Julie at reception extremely helpful! Nice to be Nice!
I had one of the best nights’ sleep here. The room was clean and very quiet. The rooms are very dated could use a little TLC — but it had everything we needed. Fresh sheets and towels, plus tea and coffee provided. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast at £6.50 was a great deal. Parking was free when booking online, which was a bonus. Overall, excellent value for money — you really can’t beat it.
NOT RECOMMENDED !!! Poor service received from staff DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY !!! We wasted 4 hours travelling IT WAS REALLY BAD !!!
Upon arriving to when we left the staff were always happy and friendly. The place was always clean and tidy. We were travelling up for a concert and decided to stay and we are glad we did.
We checked in early hours so advantage of 24 hour desk service, it was clean and cheap for a few hours sleep before continuing our journey.
My daughter and I had an overnight stay here on my way to a family wedding... We had a very long journey from Cornwall and we're looking forward to a hot shower and comfy bed... both of which we had. The room was spacious, VERY clean and cosy. The bathroom was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and the white linen was crisp. We had a very warm, comfortable night and felt refreshed for the rest of our journey the next day. Have stayed here before and will definitely stay again. Well done to all the staff...
Clean an Tidy
Room needed a little tlc but it was nice and comfortable, would certainly stay here again, very suitable for travelling down from Glasgow. The services due a great breafast ....
Great overnight stop on my way to Scotland, next the motorway but also access to the local roads as well. Great scenery nearby, quiet location. Just make sure you book direct to get free parking, i did book direct but still had pay because my confirmation didn't show the website details. The receptionist just wasn't very friendly or welcoming. Over a great hotel and I will use it in the future.
Lovely hotel with amazing Views! Situated just off the M74 so ideal for travelling up north and breaking up the journey to north if Scotland Clean rooms and places to eat on the same site Staff welcoming and friendly
We booked two (separate) nights here with Days Inn Abington (myself and my mother) mother is elderly and I have disabilities so requested a twin room, on arrival we were directed to a family room (one double and one single trundle guest bed), room was basic, bathroom not particularly clean, only one plug socket in bedroom nowhere near the beds to charge multiple devices (some needed for medical purposes) , the single bed turned out to be really uncomfortable so on our outbound trip we requested an alternative room at reception on departure, the receptionist was really helpful said the room we wanted was available and she made a note on our return journey to reserve that room, however on our return journey we were told the room and all those similar were occupied and we were given a similar room to the one we had had previously, disappointing first stay but having secured an acceptable room after lengthy conversation for our return trip to be told that was not available on arrival has put us off staying with Days Inn again
I’m in my 70s and travel with my Hearing assistance dog. I undertake a long journey to and from the Outer Hebrides where I have relatives several times a year. Days Inn at Abington on the M74 is ideally located for my overnight stay. I like the fast efficient booking in and the helpful staff.
Pet friendly , spacious , clean room! Quiet area👍
Easy to book online. We had a lovely ground floor room with plenty of room for our dog. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful both evening and morning. The food available was quite good considering it was a services so no complaints at all. A lovely dog walking area too which was a bonus for us. Parking was ok as there was lots of it and it was fee for us as we had booked a room at the hotel. No noise from the motorway when in the room either. All in all a lovely stay on our way up further north, thank you.
Quiet and comfortable stay.
Really helpful staff, especially the girl with red/black hair, and GREAT beds. Easy to access and book online, great price.
Staff and room at the hotel very good. We had booked breakfast in advance too as only staying one night. When we went for breakfast with voucher as prepaid, it was very disappointing compared to Travelodge breakfasts. There was only a full English on offer and when we gave in the voucher, we were told it did not cover for a full English. Instead we were given one bacon, one sausage, beans, mushrooms, a fried egg and mug of coffee. It was just adequate. Cooked ok but very underwhelming.
Clean room
A very comfortable and clean hotel at a very good price. Very helpful staff. A lovely view from our room. Don’t let the appearance of the entrance doors put you off! They look like they're painted by a trained chimpanzee.
Great stay in a very clean and freshly smelling room. Lots of condiments available (tea, coffee). Very comfortable bed and I slept like a baby for the first time in years (I'm moving in). The lady on reception was wonderful, thank you.
Hotel just needs some money spent on it as it is getting tired
nice stay at motorway
Great location, friendly staff and comfortable room
Nice sized room with comfy beds. Corridor smelt of smoke and quite unpleasant smell in the stairwell.
Cleaning needs serious attention. A dirty tissue was lying on the floor by the bed and the bathroom cleaning was cursory at best. The room was tired, damaged and in need of refurbishment.
An overnight stay to break up a longer journey. Apart from the fully expected hum of motorway traffic staying at the service station hotel, the hotel itself was incredibly quiet (despite having lots of guests). The bed was very comfy, the receptionist was friendly and check in was very quick. The room was better than expected, looking modern and had everything needed, kettle, condiments, hairdryer, TV etc. The closeness of the service station itself was perfect (like 20 steps) but we didn’t need it as we had everything we needed. The highlight was definitely the views of the rolling hills here in Scotland. So, for what we needed, a bed for the night, the hotel exceeded our expectations and would happily recommend and stay again if needed.
The room was dated in need of refurbishing. Vinyl on long shelf peeling off. Needs repainting properly.
I love this hotel in the hills. It's so convenient to start or end a long trip up to further away bits of Scotland. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable and the views are stunning across the fields and hills. It's very quiet and has all I need.
I love this hotel in the hills. It's so convenient to start or end a long trip up to further away bits of Scotland. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable and the views are stunning across the fields and hills. It's very quiet and has all I need. It's terrific value. Great welcome from a friendly team member. The hotel has had some work done to it since I was last there. Was much needed and great to see the carpets finally changed and new curtains without holes in. Breakfast next door was good and perfect stop for journey
Usedul stop off on our way from Gloucester to West Scotland however felt very ripped off by hotels dot dom as paid over £90 for a room that was advertised at reception for half the price plus to add insult to injury we were charged £5 for parking overnight when hotels dot com stated it was included. The hotel is ok at best & bed was comfy however the whole hotel is dated & needs a good up date/revamp. This is a £40 room at best almost a place you'd rent by the hour!!
One doesn't stay at hotels on service stations for their ambience. Location suited our travel plan.
I had unfortunately booked the wrong date but fortunately there was one room left, which wasn't accessible. We took it anyway but were then informed that the accessible rooms were not in fact totally accessible; they still had a shower over bath. I asked why were they sold as "accessible" then? Anne, who was very helpful on Reception did not know why. I did try to get into the bath for a shower but was impossible. Even a walk-in shower would have been better. I am a wheelchair user that can walk very small distances...check before you book! I was refunded for the other room, as it was not totally accessible. Everything else was great; room very clean and comfortable, view from room was beautiful, staff excellent, and food at the service station next door was fab, esp. the Chinese food.
Overnight stay to break up a longer journey. Convenient (just off M74), clean amd reasonably priced. Only downside was lack of free parking but was only £5 for overnight isnt too bad
The staff at this hotel are absolute stars and will go out of their way to help you in anyway they can. Particular mention goes to Julie on nightshift who was such a diamond helping with my disabled partner. Also mention for Cameron who looked after my partner when I had to leave her in reception to go to fetch a hire car- he was great helping me out with the admin of our stay. The building itself could maybe do with a bit of a refresh and there is a step on the front door to the hotel that is a bit tricky for wheelchairs. Its just a shame that the age of the building means that not all of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. Regardless, the staff go out of their way to help in any way they can, the rooms are all kept very clean. The rooms at the back look out over fields and is a wonderful view to wake up to in the morning with the rook & crows nests in the trees as well
Perfect place for an overnight with a dog between Bristol and Inverness. Very clean.
This hotel was much better than I expected. Days Inn is hit or miss - this one's a winner. The room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. Even though the car park was very busy, we had no problem finding a place to park. Parking is free when staying at the hotel, just register your vehicle when you check in. No complaints from us.
Cheap and cheerful, and ideal on the journey.
Used this hotel for a stop over on route up to Glasgow while working away. It’s in the middle of nowhere, with lack of anything around. But the room was clean and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable when I was looking to go get something to eat
Very basic but very clean
Clean and tidy room, more spacious than I expected, minimal facilities
Good place to stop and animal ftiendly
It was quiet
Check in was easy staff extremely polite and helpful. Bed very comfortable everything was clean. Shower was good and to top it all we had a toilet for the disabled which was fantastic as we both have mobility issues. Will definitely be back.
OK for a necessary overnite stop. Rooms look tired, damaged furniture and fittings, noisy. Staff friendly and helpful. Handy for food etc at next door services. Price is very good for the area, but reflected in what you get. If I was in the area again, would probably keep driving for a nicer experience.
Convenient when going to scotland
The property is just sufficient to get some rest from a long trip. The only issue was with parking. They charge £5 for parking even though their website mentions as free parking. Upon raising a question, they told that they will accept only bookings made directly through their website for getting a free parking spot.
Check in was quick and easy (I had already completed on - line before arriving. Room was ready, clean etc exactly as advertised. Tea tray clean and properly stocked but no ‘little extra’ that you sometimes get with personal touches of a private B&B / guest house. Bathroom clean warm and the soft water was properly hot. Bed a good size and mattress really comfortable - quality sheets too. Only disappointment was having to pay for parking - that wasn’t obvious at the time of booking.
Greatly underestimated motorway hotel. Clean, quiet, great staff and facilities you’d expect being next to a busy motorway. The beds are very comfortable, rooms airy and towels fluffy and soft. Good dog walking area and an absolutely amazing price for the services provided. It outstripped many of the other hotels we stayed at on our long drive from South East Spain to North East Scotland. I give this Motorway Gem 5 stars. ⭐️ Well done Days Inn Abington!
This motel provided us with everything we needed for an overnight stop on our way. north. They are dog friendly which is a must as our faithful hound goes everywhere with us. The room was bright, clean and spacious. Bed v comfortable with a high quality mattress. Bathroom had a good shower and bath and toiletries were provided. Staff very approachable. Breakfast available next door. All in all highly recommended.
Only one chair in a double room is not very comfortable. Asked for another and and one was provided straight away. Good service but not the kind of thing that guests should have to go asking for.
Very large spacious room. It was very basic but had everything that we needed. Only downside was there was no plug socket or usb socket by the bed. Also no lift in the building so if you struggle with stairs request a ground floor room. The Inn is at the services so there is a shop open 24 hours. There is a Good Breakfast, Choptix, Starbucks which I dont think is open 24 hours but ther is a WHSmiths which is. There are snacks, drinks and pot noodles for sale in the reception of the hotel. Plenty of parking which is free providing that you register your vehicle with the person on reception.
Fantastic stay great location for a stop on a long journey comfort beds nice hotel
Cant fault this hotel! Great parking, much cheaper than tr@velodge, staff are friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate and very comfy, despite being at a services it was very quiet and had a great sleep! Welcoming and would 100% stay again
We actually booked this as a Half way point Ish lol. On a Trip up to Nairn. There is No question that it’s a great Value option and the Staff were very accommodating. We were suprised on Both occasions that we had to pay a £5 Car parking charge but that apparently was part of the booking as we booked through Expedia. The rooms were fresh and clean but Dated. My 1 Massive bit of advice would be take the time to stop in Bigger town centre for food and shops. It’s a Fab old town and with a varied and bargain priced array of Take always and supply stores/chemist etc. Loved the town check it out.
Lovely stay Surrounding area marvellous Staff helpful
Reception could not of been nicer. Pillows in night uncomfortable to deep for us and worse was bedding for some reason we were all super itchy. Fantastic value just disappointing.
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, it was clean, the bed was super comfy I had a really lovely nights sleep. The staff were lovely and friendly. They gave us ground floor rooms close together. A lovely breakfast at the services the next morning I would recommend for business users
The hotel is located next to the shops and restaurants at the service station. Parking is in the regular service station parking Check-in was fast, with very little paperwork to complete. The room was large with tea and coffee facilities and all that we needed in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and there was very little traffic noise. If we ever needed to stop overnight on our way north we would definitely consider stopping here.
I pay 2 time my car park one from Expedia and another one in hotel. I don’t know why reception say we can’t receive car payment from Expedia
Great overnight stop. It was comfortable and clean with friendly reception staff. We had a nice view from our room at the back of the hotel. Handy services next door for dinner and breakfast. Lots of parking including charging points for our EV car.
As always very good service, clean rooms, polite and friendly staff and good value. We will certainly use again.
Rooms were clean bright and tidy checking was quick and easy, breakfast was available from the cafe next door. We requested a crib for the grand daughter and this was set in the room before we arrived.
Staff are always good and rooms are always clean. Good price too. We will return. Col
Car park charge is disappointing
Great nights rest And reception even printed my paperwork out for my work the following day . Like home from home. Would definitely stay again everyone from reception to the room was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend this hotel if caught out last minute.
Needed a bed for the night in the middle of a long drive home. Handy stop right off the motorway. Can't comment on the services at the main service station as only went into the hotel to sleep then left early next morning. I was taking an electric vehicle home - fast AC and rapid DC charging available outside the hotel. Rooms were dated but clean. Biggest issue I could see for a couple or family is that I only counted 3 plugs sockets in the room, none of which were by the bed. This could be in issue if you have lots of devices to charge. My stay was fine but I think this is down to a quiet time of year. The floors were quite creaky and doors were not soft close so the few people who were staying I heard some quite loud door closures. I feel that on a busy night this hotel would be quite noisy. There was a poster for breakfast but I could see nowhere that this could be and was not offered or asked about it at check in. Not an issue as I was leaving very early next day. Shower was fantastic with super hot water and great pressure.
The wild Storm curtailed my journey home last night Wild winds had caused havoc in on A74M with overturned vehicles and fallen trees and branches everywhere Looking on Booking.com I was amazed to see this place for the astounding rate of £35.99 for a night with parking Given the weather I also thought the adjoining services would offer refreshments? On arrival I parked and noticed that my phone had no signal and had drive a couple of miles to get a Vodafone service. Checking online I noticed the weather had brought down mobile masts so assumed this was the problem I returned to the carpark and entered the services only to discover the the weather had prevented staff arriving at work and the only offering was cold pasty from W H Smiths I checked in and was pleasantly greeted and enquired if there was Wifi connectivity only to be told the the inclement conditions had cut the Wifi Signal Marooned I went to my room which was clean, warm and tidy and retired early with my pasty ! The morning broke with bright weather and light splashing of snow and checked out and set off homewards For the weary traveler this establishment is perfectly located and pleasantly hospitable. Especially given the tariff although I suspect this was so low given the motorway restrictions and services all but closed Even at triple the price this place would have and perfectly amicable Well Done
Arrived and was greeted by a delightful receptionist who was both efficient and very friendly. Room cleaned to a good standard. Handy for food from the service station. Excellent price for an overnight stay and I would consider using again when visiting the area.
Excellent value for money for 2 adults 2 kids stay 1 night at £37. Can’t complain
Receptionist was friendly and very helpful comfortable stay
We stayed here over the festive period to visit family nearby. It's basic but clean, friendly staff and comfortable beds. For our purposes it was absolutely fine. Thanks
Comfy bed spacious rooms good wifi good parking very clean great value for money I will be back it was to dark to see the views easy access to welcome break centre .great check in and out .Just off the motorway so a good stop over before heading to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Also handy if you want to explore that area there are some nice villages to have a roam through Biggar is very nice
Overall, very good. Comfortable and clean. The rooms let in a lot of sound from the hallways so can be very noisy if there are people up and about late at night. We had to tuck the curtains into the window too as there was a terrible draught. As it was freezing outside, this made the room cold. Its basic, but fine for a stopover.
Very functional, but did it well.
Stopped off on the way down to England to join family over the festive period. Hotel has gone through a slight update since I last stayed, walls painted, new carpet. Felt fresh, warm and was very much needed. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Stayed for 2 nights while attending a family wedding nearby. It was clean and comfortable and at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Would use Days Inn again in the future.......
Nice and quite place to stay
Was a nice quiet service stop to be fair, staff did what they needed to do easy process in and out which I can’t complain about 40min drive to Glasgow but easy run in
Very comfortable and everything available there
The staff were all very helpful and welcoming
I stayed there for 8 days while working locally. It's conveniently located and was cheap compared to some. Rooms and communal areas are worn, but the rooms were clean enough and it was cheap
Efficient check-in, friendly and welcoming staffstaff, comfortable bed, snacks available at reception, plenty of tea and coffe sachets.
Good budget hotel. The reception was manned 24 hours a day which was really great to see. You don’t get that in most hotels now so it’s nice to see a hotel with real people on the reception at all times. Check in was quick and easy. Did check in online before I arrived and just had to get my key from reception when I got there. Room basic but clean. Will definitely recommend and return
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good location
Have used this hotel a few time when either heading north or sound, and it’s been in some need of TLC. Was great to see fresh lick of paint on the walls, actual black out curtains and a larger TV. All it needs is a new carpet and the too. Would be perfect.
Lady at front desk Julie very helpful and good respect helped us through everything we ask for if I owned a business she would be top of my list I really think this lady should be giving a promotion or something she is really good at her job highly recommend
Brilliant, even an enjoyable bath, beds and pillows so good after a 7 hrs trip here, everyone friendly and helpful. Welcome break supper, Chinese or burgers just ok but breakfasts great.
Easy place to stop for a break from driving. Fast check in and out.
We didn't had wifi & receptionist wasn't helpful at all, didn't even try to do anything and not even apologetic...everything else was good.
Absolutley fine for a mid journey stopover. Room was clean, the beds were comfy enough. Tea and coffee making facilities as standard. The only downside was that the hotel doesn't have a lift, and as someone with an intermittent knee injury, I prefer the choice of stairs or lift when not on the ground floor.
