Difficulty finding it. The postcode for the hotel took us to the football ground. The alternative, which was supposed to be more accurate, took us somewhere completely random. From the football ground gates, we followed the road until we found the hotel. The fire alarm going off nany times at breakfast because someone burnt the bacon meant the lift wasn't working. So, I had to use the stairs - not good with a new knee.
Nothing
Location and food extremely expensive £16 for a pasta
Nice breakfast pity they did not do fried eggs.
Its was a convenient location, breakfast was good
All in all liked it - family room was very small. Probably more a mistake on my part we could have done with 1 double & 2 singles with a 12 & 13 year old who were to big for the sofa bed
Comfortable beds
Was very small especially when they said it was a family room . I booked for 4 of us to stay and they didn’t even give me a cot .

Very clean
Breakfast was lovely, very nice. Value for money. Room was very large, met our needs.
The carpets were really dirty and under the bed.
Pleasant friendly staff. Efficient check in

You know what you're getting with a HIEx, this didn't disappoint.
Obviously being an old fashioned hotel, you get a TV with an aerial (so live TV, which is smashing) but don't expect a Smart TV with apps or any of that nonsense. We had an accessible room which was lovely, but had a green safety fire exit light above the door, which lights your whole room up like a fairy grotto through the night. I slung a black jumper over it myself. If you have thick black underwear, or a small towel that should do the trick. You could, alternatively, modify a more complete light-excluding device using a shoe box and some masking tape, but I couldn't be arsed.
Located perfectly for our trip to Alton Towers, always greeted with a smile. Good breakfast although better to go early for breakfast rather than later as it is a lot less busier!
Unflavoured vodka in the bar 🤣🤣🤣
Room was spotless and really comfortable
Helpful friendly staff.
On the last day of departure, leaving to cross the car park there was a bad smell, nothing to do with the hotel, something off in the neighborhood, but very unpleasant right after leaving the clean hotel.
Clean room, good breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom especially clean and lovely soaps and clean towels. Good location for travelling to and from. Plenty of parking.
As an EV driver there were no chargers at the hotel. The charger I was directed to belonged to the Harvester next door and only available at its opening times. Also extra charge for parking - would be better and more open to include in bill (although I know this happens everywhere these days!)
Overall the experience was lovely, the room had everything we needed, the bar was a nice addition. There was seating in the reception area to be able to sit in while waitiing for people, the breakfast was excellent fir choice and very tasty, although best getting up early for that. The area around the hotel was quite when we stayed and the restaurant next door was very handy.
My only two small grumbles were there was no signal on the tv so couldn't use that in the bedroom and the second morning we was there, we still had an hour before breakfast finished and hardly anything was left or being replaced. Granted it was very busy, but at one point there were no knives, cups, glasses, bread, muffins or orange juice
Excellent value and exceptionally convenient for all that we were doing.
Nothing
Location and excellent staff. Lovely breakfast.
The aircon in Room 33 very noisy.
breder bed
Conveniently located for both the purpose of my visit and for access. Staff were very cheerful (now a rarity), friendly and helpful. I was allocated an accessible room as I had my dog with me, which gave us more space. Breakfast choices were good and included in the room price. The property was kept very clean and presentable. The car park is large and there’s a good discount for hotel guests. My dog was welcomed rather than tolerated, which is always good and there’s an easy walk down to the canal for a quick walk.
Very little really. It’s a bit remote from the city so eating choices are limited but you know that when you book. Also the £30 charge for a dog is a bit steep but all the chains seem to have increased that significantly in the last year or so.
Breakfast was good and included. Room had an air conditioner which kept it nice and cool.
Having to pay for parking: quoted £7 but if checking out after 9am it’s £14. In spite of being told to use a particular Postcode supplied on email: this was incorrect and took me to the wrong place. Room bit smoky. Price was high maybe because I booked on the same day.
Staff so helpful and responsive.
The staff were great and the beds very comfortable.
The breakfast room was way too small for the number of guests on the weekend we were there, and it was somewhat irritating to have to pay for parking on an industrial park.
Comfortabele bedden! Dit was puur voor 1 overnachtingen doorreis naar huis. Goed aan te bevelen!!
Nvt
Great hotel with spacious room and breakfast included whats not to like! Lifts to upper floors, guest ‘pantry’ with microwave. Soft comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. Quiet even though close to major motorway. Awesome pub right next door for evening meals and a cold beverage.
Not close to town
Very friendly helpful staff on reception
no toilet brush in bathroom and had a slight smell
Breakfast good
Initially the price was competitive for the area
The cost of parking was outlined at £7 for 24 hours with a discount as per the hotels email however paid £14.50 for less than 12 hours!!!
Clean tidy and relaxed
Paying for the car park
Good location for stopover .
Excellent staff Room was super, clean and just what I needed. Perfect position for the football ground. Allowed luggage storage until later in the day, greatly appreciated. Breakfast was very good.
If anything the shower water pressure, but understand 3rd floor may be the issue. Slightly slow topping up breakfast items and juices but staff were busy.
Very good location, good parking ,reception welcome good. Room layout good, Breakfast choice very good
My wife and I had barely any sleep. Me because of unbearable loud noise from aircon. My wife aircon blowing on her all night, she couldnt here is as removed hearing aids.
Breakfast was fantastic and staff were very welcoming and helpful
Paying for parking
Never disappoints I've stayed here many many times and always a warm welcome, friendly staff, clean & tidy that's well maintained. Good breakfast too !
No complaints but be aware on match days it can get busy outside and you may need to add extra to your journey getting into the car park as your next to the football ground..
Fine

Find 9.30 finish to early so did not partake

Nice staff
Very clean
All ok for the price. Paying for parking is not good should be included in your hotel
Paying for parking
Rooms were clean and good breakfast. Pastries were fresh and warm!
That I had to pay for parking.
Excellent stay Beautiful and clean rooms and good breakfast
So clean and great sleep Staff very friendly
Close to football ground
Good parking and well presented
Nice staff and very clean room
Not happy with breakfast
Almost everything. Stayed a few times now and always good.
Paying for parking.
The best thing about this hotel was checking out
On arrival at approximately 7.30 pm after a long drive we was informed that we wasn't able to have dinner in the hotel as a delivery hadn't turned up,I don't believe this for one minute. Our room was fairly close to reception and the noise was ridiculous, also the beds were uncomfortable and far to small. Breakfast was lukewarm and flavourless.
Comfortable and welcoming
Not enough lights
Great location for Alton towers not too far not too near. Staff were absolutely amazing from check in to check out. Very kind and accommodating.
Aircon units were slightly noisy. But otherwise good nights sleep. We requested for a fan which was accommodated for very quickly.
Everything was fine
Nothing
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. When we needed help or assistance they went above and beyond. Breakfast was great, such a variety for breakfast met the needs of our annoying kids when it comes for food. There was 7 kids in our party all together.
The "family" room did not have enough space. It was such a little room that trying to get ready in the morning was a challenge. Also the room was so hot that the air cooler just didn't do much. For the value not a big issue. But the worse thing was the bed. It was so uncomfortable I struggled to sleep. I was in literal pain!
Good parking but you have to pay clean friendly hotel .excellent staff nothing to much trouble
Only problem I had was at breakfast people talking 5/6 croissants after they have had breakfast taking all the fruit filling there flasks and water bottles with the fruit juice too take away and letting their children play with and make a mess of the crepe making machine and staff not stopping them other paying guests would have liked to have what they had paid for apart from that it was excellent
Lovely staff and very helpful
breakfast as good the staff working in the breakfast are was so lovely ,bed perfect ,the only thing is looking is a small fridge
no fridge,
It is convenient for Alton Towers and getting on to the motorway.
Rooms were noisy.
Staff, they were excellent and really helpful
£7 to park my car
Buffet breakfast and child free
The place was amazing Experience was top notch Service was excellent Staff friendly helpful and welcoming
It was ok
Room was spacious and I like big window😊
Good was good. Staff were friendly
A fridge in the room would be helpful
Good place to stay for Alton Towers, about 25/30 mins away in the morning
Staff friendly, room clean ,flat screen TV , air-conditioning,even an iron and ironing board ,nice comfy bed and nice bathroom
Location was good for what I needed, the car parking adequate
My shower didn't work fully and the communal areas were not very clean
Easy to get to and comfortable
Reception staff so helpful

Great hotel staff were very good, and helpful, room was nice and comfy, 👍🏼
Good that breaky was included, well set out, most of it was good, slight problem no jam or marmalade available, also noticed even though didn't have any myself mouldy orange in basket 🫢 other than that all good
Clean room Good breakfast Friendly helpful staff
Having to pay to park Bit too close to a major road- noisy Scrambled egg at breakfast tasted fake - powdered or something
Great easy location and good clean room
Quite clean, car park facilities. Reasonable priced - you get what you pay for. Good location if you drive, and do not want to stay in the city centre.
I know it is a budget hotel, but there was a really limited choice of food for breakfast. I have visited many budget chains, so I didn't expect a Michelin star experience, but the food selection was really basic, comparing to other hotels is similar standard. It also looked like they did not top up the hot food section during the breakfast. It is served 6.30 to 10.00, we went there at 9.00, and the 'hot' food was largely cold and looked like leftovers. I guess all was placed there at 6.30 instead of cooking and adding food little by little during the breakfast time.
Breakfast included in price
Sofa bed wasn't very comfortable. Has definitely seen better days.
Location
I don’t think the receptionist could have shouted any louder than I was a lone traveller, she was that loud several people in the lobby looked around. I would suggest some training for her about keeping sensitive information quiet.
Convenient location for Alton Towers with a Harvester next door and 3 x EV charging points
Basic hotel Limited, if any, air-conditioning
Closeness to Waterpark and other attractions.
Room size is very small for a family. No socket exists near thr kettle. It was placed near the floor!
Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Great variety of breakfast which was hot and topped up regularly We love the pancake machine!
Paying for parking on top of paying for the room is excessive and expensive. Could easily be done with a car registration log instead. Its the first holiday inn we have stayed in where we have had to pay for parking so we were very surprised by this.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast
More modern TV with Netflix button
Location
Too hot even aC was on but heat was unbearable
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and tidy.
The breakfast was abysmal. There were empty trays most of the time. The bacon was inedible. The fruit juices were tasteless, as was the coffee.
The rooms and indeed the whole hotel were spotlessly clean. The staff were amazing, friendly and so helpful. Great breakfast.
Nothing I can think of.
The location was great for us

It was easy to get too, the staff were all polite and friendly and the breakfast was lovely
The bed was very uncomfortable and the mattress was on an angle. We booked a family room, but it was so cramped, we felt like we were all on top of each other
Great location. Decent building rooms facilities and layout. Staff and the breakfast were fantastic especially the morning reception / breakfast staff.
Air conditioning unit in the room was blocked with thick dust. On top of unit was covered in thick dust.
Great location for the football event we were attending. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and there were usb charging points next to the bed. Turned on the tv and it said there was no signal and everything was plugged in so that wasn’t good. Reception Staff were helpful upon check in.
The breakfast was absolutely rubbish. It was busy with almost every table occupied and it was like a free for all. No cutlery. The so called hot breakfast was cold and items weren’t being replenished when running out unless asking a member of staff. I mean you’d think a hotel would know its numbers and know how to deal with these events. The room wasn’t cheap and the service should have been better
Convenient. Had an available room at the last minute. Clean. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast.
Very busy, especially at breakfast. Having to pay for parking on top of the room is a bit rude. Expensive for what it was, despite having a discounted rate.
Easy to find
Only one electric point in the room
Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was exceptional, fresh, tasty and great variety to choose from.
Room size for 4 person using sofa bed could be a little bigger. Should be free parking for guests at hotel.
The staff
Boys were upset the pancake machine was broken at breakfast🤣🤣
being able to take our pet dog with us
the evening menu .
Service was great
The property was clean and well maintained. The staff were fantastic.
The only letdown was no aircon in the room - it was very hot
the food was very good value for money with a good choice of evening meals.
The restaurant was crowded at breakfast time but that didn't surprise me, given the hotel's proximity to Alton Towers!
We went to breakfast at 9:15 and it as chaos ! I appreciate it was a busy time but there were no clean plates or cutlery available which meant queues were forming. Food ran low and what breakfast staff were there were clearly overwhelmed and short staffed.
I think of Holiday Inn as being a far more prestigious brand than Travel Lodge or Premier Inn but how wrong could I be ! For me, apart from the shocking dining hall was the shower ! There was just a trickle of water that came from it as we had three rooms booked and all three parties said the same. The pressure of the water and the shower head were the worst any of us had ever experienced anywhere. For a modern hotel all three rooms were appalling and not of the quality I would expect from the brand. Very disappointing !!
Breakfast was a free for all had to wait to be seated. Very limited food as it was all gone, no plates, only water or hot drink left no juice. If offering free breakfasts to all customers i would of had a times slot to accommodate every one and have enough food to go around. We booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 kids and had 2 double beds! Kids were not happy at all.
Staff were EXCELLENT! First impressions great. Chloe was really lovely & friendly. But, honestly everyone was!
Car park got busy at one point & I wasn’t sure we’d get a space but we did. So, that wasn’t too bad really.
Spacious and comfortable room. Very friendly staff and easy to access.
Can't fault it. I've stayed here a few times now and never had any issues. Great friendly and clean hotel. Great breakfast and good parking.
Shortages of food items
Service
Restaurant, kids were allowed to make their own pancakes:)
Tv , and bed was broken and it dirty under the bed.
