There was a public walk way inside the hotel where people could see straight into our bedroom Room 70 so had to have blind down and no ceiling lighting so quite dark.

Everything was perfect from checking in to checking out 5 days later. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Big shout out to Gary for his help and assistance during check in and walking us to our room and the car park. The facilities are second to none and many thanks to Natty for showing us everything that was on offer and available within the spa. The Lygon Arms is perfectly located within the centre of Broadway with walking access to everything you want locally. Perfect base to travel to all other surroundings within the Cotswolds if you have a car. Food was exceptional from the breakfast in the morning to evening meals in the Tavern and Grill restaurants, and also quick bites in the courtyard. The Superior room within the annexe section of the establishment was extremely large with a massive comfortable bed. All washing, shampoo, conditions etc. supplied within the bathroom were of a high quality (Noble Isle) and daily replenished where required. The bathroom was a little tired and could do with an upgrade, but this did not detract from a perfect stay. A perfect place to completely relax and unwind away from work. This is a first class establishment that is professionally run to extremely high standards.

The one and only very slight disappointment was that the electric car chargers were not available during our stay due to ongoing upgrades around the car parking area. Even though I had a courtesy call a few days before travelling and explaining I had an electric car at no time was I informed that these would not be available during our stay.

Beautiful hotel set in Beautiful town of Broadway.Good free parking,check in was swift and easy.All staff friendly and efficient, great bar and courtyard area for relaxing.Food was excellent ,fab meal in the Grill in the evening,and lovely dinner in the courtyard. room was large clean and comfortable. Nice spa attached to the hotel.Great breakfast with everything you need and more.Highly recommend.

If I was picky,the acess road to the car park is in very poor condition, but I suppose out of hotel control.

Our room had an overpowering drain smell coming from the bathroom. We reported the issue, maintenance came and “resolved” the issue. The smell was still there when we returned from dinner. I was surprised there was no coffee pod machine in the room.

L’habitacio no tenia sortida al carrer, la finestra donava a la teulada, asfixiant, no hi havia “amenities” de raspall de dents, no hi havien adaptadors de corrent, molt sorollosa, se sentia els que dormien a l’habitacio de dalt o els que passaven pel passadís, i el matalas molt tou. En definitiva, no correspon al preu que s’ha pagat o almenys s’hauria d’haver comentat que l’habitació tenia aquestes particularitats.

The only downside was breakfast. It wasn't very busy, yet it took more than 5 mins for the maitre'd to come to us and she also wasn't the most friendly, compared to the brilliant staff we came across everywhere else.

Spa was beautiful. Outside spaces lovely. James Martin as handsome in real life as he is on tv. (He was discussing menus with staff). The bar area gorgeous. We had a dog with us and they catered well for that. The breakfast and breakfast staff superb, wonderful hall. Amiable kiwi gent running around in tweed. He was fun and chatty.

To be honest it was lovely.. the decor in our room could have been a little more Laurence Llewellyn Bowen.

Room on the top floor with no aspect and dreadful heavily patterned carpet that I felt was covering up any marks or dirt. Barking dogs next door and dogs under the breakfast tables surrounding us with dog bowls under the table - really not great. No one asked us if we would prefer a non pet friendly room - everyone assumes you love dogs which we certainly don’t. We also weren’t warned that the car rally was going on all weekend which was causing havoc all around - not very relaxing.

The property has character and is very conveniently located. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The property is dated and needs restoration to bring it up to modern standards especially considering the price. It is not an inexpensive hotel.

As usual the place is beautiful , and that was my 3rd time in this hotel .

I was a bit unsure about my room , with no air com and no extra security lock at my door.

Das Frühstück war sehr gut und auch ausgewogen bis auf das etwas gewöhnungsbedürftige Brot das wohl hier Standard ist.

Das einzige, was uns gestört hat, war die Dusche in der Badewanne, die auch noch einen sehr hohen Rand hatte und somit für ältere Leute der Einstieg etwas erschwert, ist. Eine normale Dusche wäre angenehmer.

After staying in the Lygon Arms many times over the years we decided to try other options in Broadway (Russells, Broadway Hotel). Our reason for doing this was the significant decline in standards associated with the level of services provided. In particular, food service (regardless of restaurant or sitting) had become so poor that other less acclaimed venues in Broadway offered better quality, value, and staff professionalism. When we returned a couple of weeks ago, we hoped things would have improved but they haven't. It still takes ages to place an order and then to receive drinks/foods. We were sat in the bar and witnessed the apathy of many staff members, with the exception of a manager who had to prepare drinks because the sole barman couldn't keep up with orders due to having to make cocktails. It was very apparent that they need key professional members of staff to keep other staff focused and productive. All too often waiting staff have to be asked by customers to take an order and then have to be asked again to chase up the order. We witnessed waiting staff actively avoiding going into busy areas and instead just hanging around the bar. What stands out at the Lygon Arms is the total absence of managerial leadership. While there were a few members of staff walking around who may have been more senior, they were not doing anything to make the service more effective and just appeared to be walking about. It is impossible to identify any person who is in charge. Junior members of staff also appear not to take pride in their place of work, walking past people who are waiting to be served and not intuitively clearing empty plates and glasses. On a positive note, the room we had in the courtyard was of a good standard but will need updating soon as the decor and bathrooms are now dated. Overall, the experience for us was okay as we only use the hotel for it's great location. We've learned not to rely on it for lunch or dinner, as the service ruins the experience. Even breakfast service is generally tricky, waiting for food to be served, which isn't always of the standard you would expect for the price charged. Staff also have to be asked repeatedly to bring tea, condiments, clear tables. I'd recommend the hotel for its location but find other venues for food and drinks (there are a few).

There is no aircon, and the room was boiling overnight. The restaurant attached to the hotel isn't very good, but they charge as if they are a top-notch fine dining restaurant.

Bed very comfortable once the heavy duvet (for us) was kicked off!

Room very small and uncomfortably hot (although there was a fan in the room). Croissants and other patisserie were doughy. Dinner in the revamped restaurant disappointing - sent the risotto back as it was overcooked and lacking flavour. The menu was as far from fine dining as could be sadly. Sitting outside on the terrace wanting a drink and coffee and being ignored (after 15 minutes were went to bed).

Stunning hotel, beautiful courtyard at the rear for drinks and relaxing and a wonderful rear garden for our dogs! We had a superior room which was fabulous and super spacious and the bed was really comfortable.

There was nothing we didn’t like, all I would say is we had breakfast in the dining room where you can take your dogs and we felt the quality of the cooked breakfast, particularly the sausages weren’t great, obviously all pre cooked which seemed to let it down or just not great quality.

We went to the Lygon Arms tavern by James Martin. The room we sat in was lovely. Initially the service was good but after eating our main meal, it ended up that it took a while for the dishes to be collected. We asked for a dessert menu which took a while to arrive, we chose what we wanted but no one came to take our order. In the end we just left. So disappointed as we expected far more from this establishment as it is endorsed by James Martin. The Lygon Arms needs to train its staff far better.

Went for lunch this afternoon. The outside space was beautiful, especially as the sun was out. Ordered a few bits from the menu for the table. This included the summer salad, olives and cheese board and one person had the fish and chips to themselves. I can honestly say it was the blandest food I have tasted. The over priced salad with a citrus dressing tasted of nothing. No citrus or taste in sight. Even the radishes were tasteless. The olives, dry and tasteless. The cheese board was presented beautifully but nothing stood out from there taste wise. All muted and I hate to say again but bland. The most taste came from the accompanying apples and bit of jelly. The Fish and chips were reported to be just okay. With the name associated with this hotel and restaurant and the cost (£154 - this includes drinks ) and location I was very disappointed. Disappointed enough to write my first ever review - unfortunately the friends i was with do not like to complain and just paid the bill and left.

Fantastic pub and the food and service cannot be faulted. The beds are very comfortable and the hotel rooms are very clean. The only that they do not have air-conditioning, a Dyson fan is offered in the cupboard however this makes no difference. For this to be a fivestar hotel asking for the prices that it is, air-conditioning must be invested for it to reach the status that claims to have. A bit of tourist trap during the day however the staff handle it very well and in the evening it does die down.

Ein wunderschönes Hotel in zentraler Lage. Sehr schöne Terrassen. Wunderschöne stilvolle Innenräume. Das Restaurant ist nicht nur Hervorragend sondern hat auch eine tolle Atmosphäre.

Unser Zimmer war leider nicht in einem schönen Zustand. Die Terrasse verdreckt und die Vorhänge nicht komplett. Nach zweimaliger Reklamation wurde das aber korrigiert. Hier hat sich die Hotelführung eingebracht.

Fantastic staff, excellent facilities, exceptionally clean and well presented. Breakfast was first class, a wide variety of food on offer and cooked to order. The location of the hotel was perfect, You can easily walk to the surrounding area of Broadway and the Tower as well as venture via car to other parts of the Cotswolds at your leisure. Can not fault our stay.

Beautiful and charming hotel with very pleasant atmosphere. The interior decorating of the hotel and rooms were very nicely done and we really enjoyed the patio and restaurant. Very friendly personnell.

The swimming pool was beautiful but a little worn down. Otherwise, everything was extremely nice.

We have stayed here previously but thought we would just have a drink in the garden on this occasion. We ordered a drink immediately and 20 minutes later it had still not arrived. We chased it and then waited another ten minutes and still didn’t arrive. Other tables were served around us but nothing too fast. Eventually we got fed up waiting and just left without receiving a drink. Over 30 minutes wait for a pint of cider and two reminders is unacceptable no apology and then they will try to charge 10% service charge!!!

We have just checked out after an awful stay. First night the toliet broke and was making the loudest noise throughout the night. Told reception in the morning and was asked “why didn’t we tell them earlier” what at 2am? Came back from our day out and was still waiting for a glass of wine in the courtyard 35 mins after sitting down. Do you think this acceptable?? Staff are shocking and they really need to have some in the art of hospitality. Last morning in our room the drain of the sink and shower were not draining. Lounge and furniture is covered in dust. Do you really think this is the standard of a 4 star hotel??? I don’t!

We loved our stay at the Lygon Arms. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and had a nice bathroom. The common areas of the hotel were absolutely stunning and we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard and later in the bar enjoying a few drinks. The breakfast was great (and the breakfast room was amazing!) The only negative was that there is no air conditioning and no fridge in our room

Amazing hotel in a beautiful Cotswold village. Hundreds of years old so filled with charm and history but elegant and updated. Staff were all uniformly friendly and helpful.

Location was brilliant, all the staff were friendly and professional. The rooms are tastefully decorated and in keeping with the olde worlde style of the building. Spacious and great shower/bathroom. The hospitality tray included very good choices and lots of milks. The restaurant and bars all serve great food. The spa and swimming pool etc. are very nice. The carprks are very spacious. The special James Martin lunch event we attended was absolutely fantastic.

Pillows were comfortable, but a bit flat compared to those we normally use. Rooms were warm but this was due to the very hot weather, the old structure of the hotel, and the fan that was provided in the room was excellent. We still slept really well.

The afternoon tea was fantastic and the hotel facilities are brilliant. The pool is also very unexpected given the village location but is great!

The breakfast wasn’t the best. The cooked to order food was a bit disappointing. On the first day my toast was overdone and on the second day the porridge was quite dry rather than creamy. Lack of very fresh tasting options.

The location is perfect and is 15-20 min drive from every cool spot in the Cotswolds. The building is dreamy.

I liked everything but an outdoor swimming pool in the 3rd garden would be a lovely idea :)

Room was nice, only issue looked to be an old leak above the shower which looked awful in the bathroom (room 73). Service was very good throughout the stay. Breakfast not great unfortunately. Poached eggs overcooked and scrambled eggs were delivered on a single slice of toast which did seem a tad stale. We went to the spa and were impressed, very clean and a nice place to relax. We would definitely stay again, but would go somewhere else for breakfast unfortunately.

Love this place for sitting in the court yard and enjoying the food . Unfortunately on our last visit whilst waiting for our drinks we saw a chef walk through the bar holding two packets of co op beef burgers . We were going to order food obviously we decided not too. These would cost a few pounds each and the lygon is charging £24 for a single burger and fries . Think it’s absolute diabolical taking advantage of tourists and locals a like .

Room looked tired and was quite cramped. The plug in the sink in bathroom did not work properly.

Dog friendly, excellent location, restaurant options at the hotel were great, and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room was gorgeous and relaxing, the facility was well decorated! The spa and swimming facilities were excellent! Our dog received a doggy welcome package (treats, bowl, bedding/blanket) and our baby also received a welcome package (diapers, mini robe and slippers).

Beautiful hotel with friendly and professional staff. Delicious meal in the grill. The stand out experience was my visit to the spa. Lucy, my therapist, gave me a wonderful facial. I felt cared for and indulged. I can't wait to come back.

Always seem to have average service whenever we visit. Staff member seemed rather grumpy to begin with but then non stop chatting and talking about previous guests who visited the hotel which wasn’t appropriate or professional. We clearly wanted to relax and enjoy but the chatter was too much. Also, the cold drink was delivered before the hot drink which didn’t make any sense.

This is a superb hotel with a remarkable history. The facilities are excellent and the staff very attentive and polite.

Charging 5 star rates with 3.8 star standards. Doors to rooms off street were flaking paint. Gym tiny for the size of the place. Lacking attention to detail generally. Living off its name.

We struggled with the spiral stairs up to our room 59. Room very dark but totally adequate and very comfortable bed. Ground floor room would have been better for us or first floor with minimal stairs. Pleased to have disabled parking though a bit of a trek to the car park lugging cases. Food excellent a wider choice on menu would have been good but what we had was absolutely first class. Service friendly and superb. Whole place spotless. Lovely courtyard outside. Wonderful experience overall and a special treat for us for our pending Ruby wedding later in the year.

A very old hotel with interesting artifacts. Has a lovely courtyard where we both enjoyed a relaxed lunch enjoying an open brioche roll with prawns and Marie Rose sauce with a portion of fries. Afterwards we shared the churro dessert which was lovely. It was a glorious day and the Pinot Grigio went down very well. We then checked in and had a room in the main house which whilst old fashioned it was very comfortable aided by a large Dyson fan. A lovely bathroom with a good choice of toiletries. It had an iron, ironing board, safe and hairdryer with tea & coffee facilities but only a kettle not a coffee machine which would have been more appealing. We didn’t use the Spa as only 1 night and the bar did not have any blended whisky only Malts. Some ladies like Coke with whisky and do not need malts. Our night included dinner in the Grill by James Martin and I have reviewed that separately. I did not enjoy table service in the bar but still paid 12.5% service! So I guess our experience was good in parts but disappointing overall.

The ambiance is lovely and charming and the food delicious!

No AC but understandable considering the age of the building.
