Estancia inolvidable.
The gardens, the accommodations, the pool at L’Ousteau The lunch there the service was absolutely wonderful the staff were superb and friendly and accommodating We had shuttles in to various villages and Arles We did not wait a second and never late picking us up from the various venues The food in Cabro d’Or was wonderful and service impeccable We also availed of room service and drinks and again were delighted with the service and food I have rarely been so content in a hotel
The weather it was awfully hot The air conditioning was wonderful There were some wasps at breakfast which were disconcerting
L’emplacement
Trop grand
La cabre d’or restaurant exceptionnel
nice hotel staff
the room was wet
The property is gorgeous. Our room was right next to the restaurant but was very quiet. There were areas with beautiful trees, fountains and flowers to sit quietly or have an aperitif with some friends. Scenery was peaceful. La Cabro d’Or restaurant was wonderful. The food was fantastic and had a great wine selection. The breakfast had everything. The location of the resort was perfect for us.
The property is a bit spread out where some of the areas were difficult to walk to and the hours of boutiques were limited. Not an issue for me, it save me from shopping and spending money. ;) In the pool area close to la Cabro d’Or restaurant was lovely but the service was ok. Housekeeping did not check everything when cleaning. Kleenex was not replaced, not all towels were replaced. Room service was not picked up over night. With a 5 star rating I expected every detail to well managed.
Check out inelegant.
The room was large, very comfortable and tastefully done with a beautiful view over the pool and grounds. We were in the “historic” section above the restaurant. Wonderful breakfast served in a sunroom attached to the restaurant was tasty and ample. Service was top notch. The bathroom was large and well modernized. Would definitely return.
Everything! The service is pristine and the grounds are stunning
Pretty hotel and grounds, our room was actually beautiful and very comfortable .breakfast was pleasant. Spa treatments amazing( although spa itself lacking) and spa and hotel staff were lovely. Dinner in the none three star restaurant was incredible, dinner in the three star highly disappointing, I didn’t enjoy a single dish. Thank god for the bread. Checking in on our arrival night - very hard to find the entrance. We were left to our devices to drag luggage in the pouring rain across the gravel whilst the one member of staff looked on. Shame as it could be terrific.
The hotel has lost its charm, decor, quality of bedding, towels, food etc. The rooms are moldy and tired, and not to the standard of a 5-star but a 3-star at best.
Arriving at Baumanière was like being in a Bond movie. The hotel grounds are stunning and vast, and our room was pristine. There was so much to explore and try out - amazing food, the best bath tub, goat garden, gorgeous wine - and a shuttle to make our trip even more easeful for short trips in the area. Staff were attentive and highly responsive. Can't wait to come back for more magic.
We loved Baumaniere. We had visited 5 or 6 times - on a couple of occasions for 10 days at a time. Staying in the very best suites. Eaten in Cairo D'Or and L'Oustau. Several times. Loved the goats and the gardens and generally it was synonymous with my family over the years. Last year we stayed in the most expensive suite for 7 nights. On our final night we had a crisis. There was a rainstorm the day before and on our last full day my daughter (15) was swimming in the pool. I had noticed the pool was full of worms - huge ones. Some alive, some dead. Lots of worm poop in the pool. Presumably because of the heavy rain. That night my daughter became very unwell. She was vomiting and in the middle of the night she collapsed and had a seizure on the floor. Terrified, we called reception who told us there was no doctor available and we would have to take her to hospital in Arles if we wanted help. We decided to keep her in the room and sponge her down, gave her paracetamol to lower her temp. and let her sleep (she was so limp with exhaustion and fever). By morning she was a bit improved but wiped out, still being sick and white as a sheet. Reception didn't call us to see if we were ok. There was no care. No-one visited to see us. They knew she was very sick, that she had fainted and was very unwell. We packed up as we were checking out and carefully put our girl in the car and took her to the pharmacy in Mausanne. The pharmacist was amazing - kind, attentive and sooo helpful. She said it was most likely to have been the dirty pool water that had given my daughter a bacterial infection (it was only her who was affected and we had all eaten the same food). We then drove to the next hotel an hour away where we booked in for another 7 days - the staff there cared for my daughter like she was their own child. called to check on us, Made her special medicinal tea and offered to get a Doctor to help. The contrast was immense. We felt safe. We loved Baumaniere. But there was no care. Three stars may mean superficial care in the dining room. But real attention is when you care about a sick cild staying with you and her distraught and terrified parents in the middle of the night. We cant go back, even though we loved you. That makes me sad.
Restaurant very poor value. Main course of lamb quite expensive, and starvation-sized portion. Noise from loud talking on grounds went well past midnight.
Service was great The property is amazing Breakfast is superb
The staff and property were superb! C'est magnifigue! Over our five night stay we never encountered any issues. Our room was spacious, the grounds beautiful and the staff very gracious.
Baumaniere is a very beautiful hotel, our room was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful gardens and three good swimming pools (though we only used 2). There is a free shuttle service to Les Baux de Provence and nearby restaurants and a paid service to further destinations using the hotel transport. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable . My only negative point is there was little to no mobile recption in the building we stayed I and the WiFi was intermittent and poor when available - great if you want to get away from everything but not if you needed to do some work!
Location & grounds
The room
Restaurant Cabro d'Or très bien.
We hadden Oustiau geboekt maar waren gelogeerd in cabri d’or !!!!!!!
O hotel e uma paraíso na terra. A propriedade é linda, os quartos super confortáveis, ótimos restaurantes. A Equipe foi extremamente cordial e eficiente. Vale viajar para ficar hospedado!
Beautiful setting and worthy of its 5 star rating Fabulous landscaping and excellent cuisine at both the Michelin 3 star restaurant and at La Cabro d’Or. Dining on the terrace is a wonderful experience, with the view over the garden and the noise of the cicadas.
Dogs are allowed in the swimming pool area and we had to point out to the pool staff that dog mess hadn’t been cleaned up by an owner. Really not acceptable and especially if children are playing. Staff need to be vigilant and check regularly to ensure this doesn’t happen. Alternatively dogs shouldn’t be allowed in those areas.
Great resort, unfortunately they forgot my birthday - no wishes on arrival, departure or restaurants - rest very nice
Very nice resort. We had a wonderful stay. The shuttle to local town and restaurants was great!
French country estate atmosphere, beautiful gardens and swimming pools
Unique location and development. Local monopoly, premium priced to app
Everything has been done to have an unforgettable experience : from the service to the room, the restaurant (Oustau) and the staff, we had a really beautiful week end. The location is stunning, the hotel very well maintained, our room was very comfortable and a strong attention to details to make it even more luxurious. La carriere des Lumieres visit suggested by the front desk team was also very nice. Thank you and Bravo!
Location good room very good restaurant
Excessive price
L'Ousteau de Baumaniere is a mythical destination in French cuisine. Set in the other worldly moon like bauxite mine region of Les Bau de Provence, the main building/restaurant is nestled into the surrounding valley. Three Michelin star chef Glenn Viel has brought new youthful treasures, while also continuing traditional dishes of Chef Charial, and his Grandfather who originally started L'Ousteau after the War. Excellent cuisine, superb service, and one of the most extensive wine lists in the world. A truly exceptional dining experience.
We stayed at Baumaniere for three nights - 8th - 11th Sept 24. Baumaniere was one of five Relais and Chateaux properties that we stayed at on our two-week tour of Provence. It was the worst by some considerable margin. When you pay over €900 per night, you expect a certain quality, which, sadly, Baumaniere lacked. To be clear, there were no absolute disasters, although our evening meal at The Cabro d'Or was akin to visiting the Circus. I shall try to provide an overview of why we felt let down. The hotel is divided into two areas, 750 m apart and not connected in the way you might expect. Most resorts of this type are easily navigable, with signs and footpaths allowing easy access to the areas that you may want to wander to. The hotel does offer a shuttle that will take you from one area to the next, and whilst it was efficient, it was a pain to have to use when a stroll might have been preferable. I should say that our room was in the old/original building, the same building that houses the 3-star Michelin restaurant. There were other rooms in this building, too. We felt that little to no attention was paid to guests who stayed in this area. Indeed, I suspect that the hotel is fully focused on the Michelin Restaurant to the detriment of those staying in the building. Guests staying in this area of the hotel have no reception, no concierge, absolutely no one. If you want to see a staff member or have a face-to-face, you have to travel (via shuttle) to the reception 750 metres away. I am aware that villa resorts work in this way, but this is a hotel in the traditional sense of the word. We had to hop through puddles outside the front door daily. There must have been a leaking plant watering system, which nobody bothered to fix; it was just left...predominantly because nobody ever bothered to attend the area. The seating in our room was very uncomfortable and pretty scruffy. Other than a nice view, it had no redeeming qualities and was probably worth half of what we paid. When checking out, I always try to provide feedback (good or bad). I met the charming owner of this third-generation family-run business, who listened attentively to my concerns and made all the right noises. She also provided us with a bottle of Champagne as a "sorry," which was greatly appreciated. To be honest, we still felt a little short-changed after spending well over €3000 for three nights and one dinner. In summary, I can't help feeling that someone at this property is asleep at the wheel. It has lots of potential but failed to deliver. Caveat Emptor!
It was great to stay in such a beautiful, peaceful and historic location.
Rooms (even Room 2, used by Queen Elizabeth) have a slightly disappointing decor for this price . A bit bland. I was expecting older, stylish furniture and decorations. Interior colors could be more joyful, while still respecting the time period of the building and the local, rocky Provençal environment. A great stay anyway.
This is a delicious and well-run property with a long history. Everything was perfect..almost. Our suite was very comfortable, but it was VERY dark inside. It was long and the only natural light is from the door (glass). That was our main criticism. The only other little quibble is there was absolutely nowhere to hang our sumptuous robes, and so the cleaning crew (and it WAS a crew) took to hanging them on the shower door or folded (wet) by the tub.
We really enjoyed the beautiful and very large garden, the many fountains and swimming pools. It’s an ideal place where to slow down and relax. The room was extremely large and our terrace was a great addition to it. Both restaurants are delicious. The chocolates that are sold in the boutique are to die for. Service is very attentive. It was just perfection.
We stayed for three nights to visit Arles and Saint Remy de Provence. Super friendly and motivated staff. We were up graded to a suite. Great swimming pool area with bar services, tennis court and gym. The landscaping is beautiful. We visited the two restaurants. Both very recommendable. The 3 Michelin Star is an experience. We didn’t like the wine paring. Your are better of getting a nice bottle of Bordeaux.
Beautiful setting and we had a fabulous dinner in the Michelin 3* restaurant
The room was dark and decor tired, patio not very clean, minimal room provisions. For Eu800 a night we expect a better experience. Staff at pool not attentive and too busy chatting amongst themselves.
Elegant and quiet property. Very well situated.
Great grounds, beautiful scenery, delicious food! Very relaxing. Very helpful staff. Clean and well designed room.
Room service was a little limited but the food was good. With three pools and a lot of families, perhaps one pool should be 18+ to provide a serene spot in the day - because all pools were play zones, which isn’t a luxurious experience
Beautiful setting and grounds. We’ve been there before and wanted to return.
iPad wine list at L’Ousteau. 106 pages to scroll through. We would have much preferred a proper printed wine list to peruse. At La Cabro d’Or restaurant they have a proper wine list to read.
Very nice place to stay if you travel in Provence. High class hence expensive but worth every cent if you like the provencial style and beautiful nature.
Beautiful location, great service, restaurant was amazing, we rented e-bikes and biked to a hilltop town very close with amazing views and shops. This hotel I would highly recommend. Our room had a second level (loft) the prior owners art studio. Loved the grounds, patio areas, the shuttle was first class. Loved the whole experience! Definitely coming back!
It is one of the most unique properties. Les Baux is a special place with medieval ruins perched high up on a hill and the hotel is very luxurious with past guests including Queen Elizabeth and Mick Jagger. Need I say more . This is a must stay!
Amazing scenery! The property is set to an idyllic background in Les Baux, and the different buildings incorporate the natural surroundings flawlessly.
Modern decor style of La Cabro D’or restaurant Should offer more simple cooking to complement The sophisticated Beaumaniere restaurant . Should serve breakfast on terrace if requested
Wonderful location Beautiful buildings Safe parking
3 star restaurant was closed for annual holiday
Clean and comfortable room and facility plus great restaurant with good wine collection
At first Receptionist is not very good
Beautiful location and beautiful grounds and gardens. Comfortable rooms and spacious. Two wonderful Michelin quality restaurants with great locally grown and sourced food
I felt that charging extra for use of the spa was a little excessive given the cost of rooms. There are two fantastic restaurants serving Michelin level food, but not many options if you just want to eat more simply. Service was ok but not exceptional compared to other hotels at this level - again perhaps my expectations were high given the number of stars and prices.
Breakfast could have been much better. Restaurants very good. A minus that Cabro D'or was not opened Monday, Tuesday.
Breakfast, rooms, gym.
We were accommodated without a reservation for lunch, Sunday, while we waited for our room - magnifique!! We also made our reservation for a room just a day before our arrival, we appreciated your hospitality immensely. Mary Louise Flowers
Restaurant: Food is ordinary though desert is excellent, Wine selection is average. Front Office Staff is rude and like A 3 star hotel.
Location
Service slow in the restaurant.
Everything 101%
Not a thing
Jolies chambres, matelas confort, sdb bien agencées. Très jolies déco.
We LOVED this hotel and hope to be back soon!
Amazing

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
6.3/10Multiple reviews mention strong sewer/odor issues in Room 31, a wet room, missed housekeeping tasks (tissues/towels) and general cleanliness lapses that noticeably impacted stays.
Service
9.4/10Generally praised as helpful, friendly and 'top notch' in several reviews, though a few guests noted some staff were less pleasant and reception handling of issues (odor) was weak; overall service largely positive.
Location
10/10Consistently cited as exceptional: beautiful grounds, perfect location near Les Baux, stunning views and a calm, relaxing setting.
Room Quality
8.6/10Rooms are described as large, comfortable and tasteful for the most part, but some guests reported plumbing/odour problems, a malfunctioning toilet and a wet room which lowered room quality for affected stays.
Amenities
8.9/10Beautiful grounds, stone pool and attractive public spaces are noted; however the property is spread out, boutiques have limited hours and room-service/onsite conveniences were sometimes lacking.
Value for Money
8.1/10Mixed impressions: several guests feel the experience is worth the price, while others call it a 'rip off' or note poor value when service/amenities fell short of 5-star expectations.
Food and Beverage
9.9/10La Cabro d’Or and breakfast receive very high praise—exceptional restaurant, great food and wine selection, ample and varied breakfast—though one review mentioned flies at the restaurant.
Overall Experience
10/10Many guests describe a magical, wonderful stay with stunning grounds and excellent service; a minority had their experience spoiled by cleanliness or service lapses, but the overall sentiment is highly positive.
