Two great girls on reception.allocated third floor .I am 78 waiting for a knee replacement.Changed to ground floor straight away as lift out of order.Breakfast good.Ate in pub across car park for dinner,cheaper,good atmosphere and service.Would definitely use again as good halfway point Poole to Dundee.The young receptionist was good,the older girl was a fabulous ambassador for the hotel.Room great ,bed better than Premier Inn we used a day later,and better value.I was a hotel manager,up to 4 star,Excellent,staff make a hotel.

Breakfast food was excellent.We just fancied the pub atmosphere a bit more,plus it was excellent value.The double glazing was excellent,no real dislikes at all.No hesitation in going back,but would book quicker as delay in making my mind up cost me 18 pounds as price rose overnight.Still really good.

Lift was out of order and we were up a couple of flights of stairs. These things happen though and not a big issue

Everything was just perfect. I asked if i could be accommodated on the ground floor, as being in the older age group lower level is easier for shuffling about. Despite being close to the M6 and associated noise that goes with that, once the double glazed window was shut, the noise was hardly noticeable. This might be different during the summer months if there's no aircon and the window is opened for air, which I didn't seek or check out, as not required in the cooler September night I stayed. Stuart booked me in and was really helpful, pointed out the car registration process at reception.

Well everything really was just fine, including the lady heading the breakfast that morning 14/9/26 who was engaging and helpful. The only thing I would note, is although the business has to budget the cost of providing a breakfast selection and that is clearly calculated by someone in HIE accounts UK. Stafford is pretty much 'Up North' as the expression goes, and personally although hash browns are very nice, I would ditch them from the menu and put in Black Pudding instead. Where I was heading later that morning to the family homelands of Cumbria (truly up north), black pudding absent from the breakfast option would raise many an eyebrow.

Good location, helpful staff, but without a/c the rooms were far too noisy with the M6 next door. Not up to your usual standards.

Unfortunately outside the main entrance there was cigarette ends everywhere. I know it's not the hotels fault but that of a handful of lazy people but it was not nice to see

Breakfast is more than ample. Plenty of choice, plenty to eat. Coffee was the only disappointment and that's being a bit picky.

After a long journey it is easy to pull off the motorway - northbound or southbound - and you're there. Plenty of parking. Pub/restaurant a two minute walk away. Then just as easy to get back on the motorway in the morning. Ideal.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es wurde auf unsere Wünsche sehr gut eingegangen. Das Zimmer war, bis auf ein paar Spinnweben an der Lampe sauber. Diese wurden aber am 2. Tag unseres Aufenthalts entfernt. Beim Frühstück ist für jeden etwas dabei, sodass man gut in den Tag starten kann.

Bei einem Doppelbettzimmer haben wir Doppelbetten erwartet. Es handelte sich um ein 1,20 m oder max 1,40 m Bett. Sollte man also beachten, wenn man groß ist ;) Die Matratze war zudem sehr wackelig. jede Umdrehung sorgt für große Bewegungen. Das Schlafsofa war überhaupt nicht komfortabel. Die Fenster lassen sich nur einen Spalt öffnen/ klappen. Das Zimmer war dadurch zeitweise etwas muffig.

It’s close to the M6

Unfortunately, I had a very concerning experience during my stay. When I went to bed, I only had one small red mark. After sleeping in the hotel bed overnight, I woke up with numerous extremely itchy red marks and small blisters across my hand, wrist and arm. After returning home, I saw a GP and was advised that the bites were highly likely to have been caused by bed bugs. This experience has caused me significant stress because I am now having to take precautions with my luggage, car and home due to the possibility of having brought bed bugs back with me. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that guests carefully inspect the room and bedding.

As a lone female travelling, I would find it safer if the carpark was lit better.

The property was clean and tidy and great location.

Our room was clean but shower didn’t work that well water was dribbling out of shower head. And toilet got blocked.

Very little, it was conveniently located just off the motorway and mostly quiet.

Restaurant was closed due to no staff. Nearest place to eat apart from Macdonalds was a long way away in Stafford (so why stay just off the motorway?). Room we booked wasn't available, got put in an accessibility room. Room smelled of stale urine and was pretty scruffy. There was no running hot water available so we couldn't shower when we got there, staff couldn't fix this. Refund was offered but it's still not showed up. Despite being in the accessible room it was on the 3rd floor and the elevator was broke. Strong smell of burning happened in the night, disappeared by dawn. We've stayed in a lot of other IHG group hotels and had no idea any of them could be this poor, one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. Avoid if possible.

Staff helpful & friendly, good price, great breakfast. Accommodated need for ground floor as lift wasn't working.

Could hear other guests in their rooms, especially ones with dogs. Dog howling from early hours. Didn't sleep much.

The location and breakfast were very good.

The pull-out sofa bed was VERY lumpy and uncomfortable and my child found it very hard to get to sleep on it. I mentioned it to the receptionist the following morning, but she did not seem too bothered.

There is peeling paint on the floor of the shower cubicle, which might create a sharp surface and poses a risk of cutting guests' feet. I strongly suggest repairing it as soon as possible to avoid any injury

Lift not working bit disappointing room was on third floor, wife had sore ankle so stairs were difficult for her. I think this was an older building as no AC in room just small fan.

Edel at reception was very welcoming and friendly. Hotel was easy to locate and quiet considering how close to the motorway it is. Breakfast was nice. Comfortable and clean room, good place for overnight stay.

Sofa bed for kids could be better but they slept OK.

We had phone call to say the lift was out of order and we were on the first floor but when they saw me limping in they moved me onto ground floor so offered us a drink while we waited for room to be made up.

Location is good , the rooms are well set out and comfortable and staff were friendly . I also appreciated being able to work in the restaurant for the morning after check out and the WiFi is good.

There seems be a bit of a facilities management issue with the only lift out of order , and second staircase also closed . At breakfast there was a curt note over the coffee machine stating it was broken but there was hot water & instant coffee if you needed it. There is actually a working coffee machine behind the bar but that wasn’t advertised .

Good location for a stop over when driving North or South. Good room, friendly staff, nice breakfast and good pub on the other side of the free parking lot.

No airconditioning in the rooms, it was hot in the room and very dry air. We felt totally dehydrated in the morning. Also, only 2 towels for 4 guests.

Room was very hot due to the heatwave and unable to cool it sufficiently to make it comfortable for sleeping. No real fault of hotel just no air-conditioning in this country.

The breakfast was generous and free, with plenty of choice. I was impressed by the amount of space there was in the bedroom and all the other parts of the property, all of which made for a very relaxing stay. The staff were all very friendly and so kind and helpful in sending my computer on to me after I left it behind

The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very good, with a large shower, and nice wasbasin. Lots of shampoo and shower gel too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The layout of the room could be better. There was no mirror or table in a suitable place for a woman to do her makeup etc. A full length mirror at the end of the beds being the only one, but no room for the chair there. There was only one chair in a twin bedded room. The breakfast was generally very good, but the cooked options were always the same, with no choice of eggs other than scrambled. This may be difficult due to timing and chef's availability. It was very hot when I stayed, and there wasn't air conditioning in the rooms. All other areas were fine.

Was on the 3rd floor room was very hot. There was a fan in the room which helped a little. Some of the cuttlery put out for use was not clean, I feel that this is something fairly simple to improve.

Location just off motorway Staff were so friendly , helpful nothing was too much trouble Breakfast was lovely , constantly replenished and staff were happy to help With anything that was needed Rooms were very well equipped with usb plugs , kettle , iron etc but also a small shop in reception with snacks to Purchase and also a micro area and tea coffee sachets to replace room Stocks Bar and breakfast area was large and airy and there was ample car parking Opposite was a McDonald’s and large pub with kids play area so all in all a very good place to stay for the money paid

The reception staff were so friendly and welcoming. Very hard working ladies who always had a smile. Nothing was too much trouble.

Beds were too soft for our liking. Breakfast was OK pretty standard but we had been spoilt by an outstanding breakfast at another hotel as part of our trip.

I stay in a number of hotels often for work. When paying £100 per night I would have expected an integrated heating/cooling system in the room rather than relying on a freestanding very noisy fan which we had to run all night because of the hot weather.

It was clean and a quite location

That there is no air conditioning and the fans are not powerful enough for the rooms to keep you cool. Also the sofa bed is absolutely awful to sleep on. You can feel every spring they need to be upgraded. Even after putting extra duvet’s on top to pad them out did not help one bit.

Convenient location, opposite a couple of eateries, one of them having a soft play area for children. Handy for the motorway and not too far from Stafford. Reasonable price and good breakfast selection. Nice coffee too!

If anything our stay was even better than our visit last year. All the staff we encountered were very helpful, professional and kind, the rooms are quiet with very comfortable beds and much better than might be expected from a ‘budget’ hotel. Sparkling clean throughout and free parking right outside. The ‘bottomless breakfast’ is excellent and, the hotel being dog friendly they even offered andboxed one up for our cockapoo! Despite being immediately off an M6 junction there is no motorway noise. This hotel is now always our default option when visiting the north!

Confusing notices in parking area - received 2 x £100 fine notices on arrival at home although logged in and registered my vehicle. Contacted the staff and told it would cancel these notices.
