Character, cleanliness and breakfast staff were exceptional
Bed too small, chewing waitresses in the evening.
The Location was excellent. The Menai straight on one side and main street leading straight to the castle on the other. Old world elegance and comfort. Friendly helpful staff. Great choice for the breakfast.
Parking is limited and busy.
Excellent location and very good selection of comfortable rooms in which to relax and enjoy coffee or tea. But most of all the restaurant food was most enjoyable and the staff were attentive, efficient and a good sense of humour.
There were a large number of dogs in the hotel and we were not very taken with the thought of having had to share the bedroom with previous canine visitors.
Location
Shower had no thermostat , water freezing cold or scalding . Health and safety scalding hazard
Breakfast.
Dinner . Waited an hour for our meal but was ok when came. Staff shortages. This government policies.
The communal part of the hotel was excellent as was the breakfast, dining facilities and location.
Our room was fairly small, a bit tired and the wifi was poor.
Breakfast good quality and adequate choice. Location excellent.
Hotel could maybe do with a bit of a freshen up ie new carpets, lick of paint
Lovely place. Hotel clean and and comfortable. Hotel staff polite and consierate. Locality good.
Nothing
Very little, very! Very poor staff other than the lady at breakfast.
Breakfast was good. We were in a separate dining room so we could have our dog with us.
Cheese selection. Pre packed tiny packets. No choice. Do not eat pastries so was limited.
They ran out of beer which is unacceptable for a hotel

Location, lovely staff, the history of the building
Location and staff
Location and views
Bed was uncomfortable just beds new mattress
Great location, lovely staff, nice breakfast
Definitely a little outdated. The bathroom had a bit of a sewer smell too. There is a free parking lot, but it is almost always immediately full.
The meals were excellent
Slow service
Beautiful hotel. Excellent food. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff
Initially the room was not to my liking, being much smaller and old fashioned compared to one I stayed in previously. I asked to change and the staff member on reception (Linoss) was very helpful and found us another room
The location
Evening Menu limited and long wait for breakfast
Comfortable room, clean and quiet, and very nice staff. Breakfast was exceptional.
Just on the right place for our walks
The view from the room
Brilliant location and the communal areas are very grand and tastefully decorated. Lots of old world charm. Good breakfast.
The room. We knew the room was described as comfortable meaning not very spacious so can’t criticise that but very run down - net curtains were old with holes in. Bedding looked tired. Badly decorated - wrinkled wallpaper badly chipped paintwork on bottom of bathroom door, looked like a rat had gnawed it ( not literal). No working lock on bathroom door. Bathroom very basic.
Location was great.
Hotel room was awful. Rips in the curtains, what looked like blood on the wall. The levels of dust showed it had not been cleaned in a long time. The cobwebs in the room looked like a scene out of Harry Potter. There was mould in the shower and bathroom and paint was peeling on the walls and ceiling.
Friendly staff
We had a very spacious room with twin beds and a sofa and easy chair. It was on the first floor but there was a lift. We had a great sea view which took in the Menai Straits and the mountains beyond. The staff were very helpful. At breakfast they were very attentive. The food was excellent and there was a good choice at breakfast and evening meal.
There are 43 rooms but only parking for 30 cars. Alternative parking was across the road in à public car park.
The property was in a great location. It was comfortable and had great views
The car park was not big enough and we struggled to park. The parking spaces were very tight
The staff were friendly and accommodating. The building was fantastic with all the Victorian elements maintained.
The supposedly free parking was terrible. First come first served, parking nearby was £8!
Very elegant property, good sized rooms , very clean and very friendly staff
Nothing to dislike
Ease of check in Plenty of secure parking Food quality & restaurant service excellent Comfortable, well equipped room Excellent location for both sea front and shops
Bar service was slow and outside tables were not regularly cleared of empty glasses and plates.
The location and view of the water was nice. The breakfast and the breakfast staff were lovely. We appreciated the option to move rooms and were thankful for Julia making an accommodation. We appreciated her understanding.
Our first room was terrible. Toilet ran forever, we struggled to get hot water, shower ran from hot to cold as you showered, loud noises because we were surrounded by shops, trash truck and deliveries started at 7. We changed room. 2nd room had a nice view but the carpet is so dirty I was afraid to walk on it with shoes. Many pet stains and the chairs you sat on had 50 years of dirt on the arms.
A charming historic hotel, great staff, good food and excellent location
OUR ROOM WAS NICE AND CLEAN AND WE HAD CLEAN TOWELS AND TEA, COFFEE, MILK, WATER, HOT CHOCOLATE EACH DAY, LEFT IN OUR ROOM.
NOTHING
THE AREA WAS GREAT. STAFF WAS REALLY HELPFUL, GERALDINE RECEPTION MANAGER WAS VERY POLITE AND HELPFUL.
SALAD ON OUR LAST EVENING WAS NOT GREAT, FAR TOO MUCH LETTUCE AND NOT ENOUGH OF FETA CHEESE, THE CHEESE WAS JUST CRUMBS!!!
Location, check in staff very welcoming, happy and professional.
Check out staff, didn't acknowledge us or ask if we'd had a nice stay, just presented us with the bill. No pleasantries. Breakfast selection was poor, asked to pay extra for eggs royal, when it is cheaper than the full breakfast that was included.
All great
All top notch , so no complaints
The location and view. Staff were outstanding
A bit tired for the building
Breakfast was really nice. Although buffet room was separate so didn’t bother with that. Hotel was really beautiful loved all the large rooms with periodic features. Staff were really pleasant. Very enjoyable stay.
Bed was a bit small also very hot in room. Didn’t sleep well
How clean and friendly it was
Nothing
Sea view
Parking.Tired Hotel especially the room, carpets were awful old and worn. No information avaliable in rooms, Check in late and no sense of hurry to get it done, all just a matter of fact. This hotel is not worth the money. Very dissapointed the pictures are very decieving.
Room was large and bed & pillows were comfortable. Room was very hot but they did provide a fan for the room. Iron, ironing board and safe in wardrobe. Nice big bathroom (separate toilet), shower average with good clean fresh towels. Loads of storage in room and the tea and coffee was replenished every day. The breakfasts we tried were very nice, but be prepared for a long wait as the service is really slow. On our second morning it took an hour and 35 minutes for us to have our breakfast. Ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was really good (except the pork belly crackling wasn't crisp) Could not fault the food we had whilst visiting but they really do need more staff. They had a singer on one evening but it was in the small bar and you couldn't get anywhere near to it. Didn't understand why the singer couldn't have set up in one of the bigger rooms. Nice coffee shop inside of the hotel, open to the public and was always busy with a good selection of cakes. Car park was good and we didn't have any trouble parking.
Our safe was broken on arrival, informed reception who said maintenance would look at it in the morning. No one came to sort it. Check in was a bit military, they would not let you check in until dead on 3.00pm.
Amazing staff, very helpful and welcoming. Clean room. Stunning views.
Not always parking spaces for amount of guests.
Great location, lovely old style decor, good value, staff were particularly helpful and friendly even though it was a busy bank holiday
Shower wasn’t particularly good but it worked 😊
Clean / everything worked
Shower - water pressure poor
nice hotel on the waterfront ,arty deco style hotel ,listed building, so expect a few scuffs n scrapes ,good cooked breakfast interesting building ,nice room 101 ,large bath and good views
all ok 👍
We had a road trip to the Bulkeley Hotel in Bumaris Angelsea from Co Durham. Hotel and staff were amazing. Food was 5 star we dinned every morning and night. It was sad to leave we felt so welcome x
The staff were lovely
It is looking a bit tired and parking situation for a building of its size needs sorting out, it is a free-for-all with visitors and non-residents. For the price is needs some room upgrading, the rooms are 2 star only. Food was good in the main though not exceptional. The positives are the staff who are lovely and a definite asset to the hotel.
Loved this place! Was like stepping back into the 50's. Food was great. Bar was very reasonable. Staff were incredible.
The weather!!! Lol. 27th August storms!! Could not complain about anything really! Fantastic place.
The quirkiness, the staff, the decor and furnishings, the food, the atmosphere.
Room was a little dated and the bed was small, but to be fair it was one of the cheaper cosy rooms. Overall it was nice.
Clean and welcoming
Internet was down, one night cash only next night card only.
Location was excellent
No disabled parking 🅿️ Insisted on us booking breakfast at 7.45am, as ‘50 guests’ in at 8am. This did not occur!
Great location. Lovely homely feel with great staff
Nothing
The breakfast is good, but the room is facing a stair, and my mum-in-law was very unhappy. She is a loyal customer of the hotel, I think the Hotel should have considered upgrading her.
The room's view
Second stay..A splendid old Georgian hotel in an outstanding location. With views over the Menai and Snowdonia. The room we booked was exceptional, spacious, beautifully furnished in period style with wonderful views, albeit pricey. The restaurant and serving staff particularly the older ones were helpful and friendly. The Breakfast was ok and plentiful but limited in choice.
The bathroom was a fail. A triumph of trendy style over function. Water splashed from the open shower all over the tiled floor and doorway making it slippery and dangerous for other users. The bath was the trendy shell type with high thin sides making very difficult to get in and out for what I would suspect would be mostly older customers. The wash basin was small, had no surround for the convenience of putting stuff. The car park was limited and there is a fair chance you won't get a place on busy days. This was exacerbated by one space permanently taken up by the gardiner's lorry, and others by staff..
Lovely well equipped room...cleaned very well every day..and anything used restocked...lovely outdoor area..and location fabulous ...breakfast food very good
Staff at breakfast were very inefficient...I had to ask every day if they would bring drinks..and every day I was told by the waitress she would ask someone else to come and take our order?.?...which meant waiting another on average 10 minutes for someone else to appear...were also kept waiting every day to order our hot food...
Everything...
Parking was a problem...a registration number was given..usual 😊👍...but ANYONE can park there and nobody GAF!!! needs some kind of a fine/etc to keep it so that Only residents can park there....
the bar was nice.
the room was small and noisy.room117. the front of the hotel. the bathroom was small so when you sat on the toilet you didnt have much room to wipe yourself. the breakfast was not so good. bacon very chewy and sausages salty. i was dissappointed.
Great location and friendly staff.
Central location Lovely food Most of the staff were very friendly and professional
Bit grubby in central areas Understaffing at breakfast and dinner Room not serviced on 2nd day Parking at a premium, not guaranteed a space
The Hotel is lovely, Staff were lovely very polite Food in Hansons was lovely Room 204 Regent suite was lovely
On the friday it was very clear they were under staffed the poor staff that were on duty were running around like headless chickens, the staff that were on were very polite at all times Long waits for drinks and in hansons A lot of customers were commenting on the under staffing
Room was large and airy and cleaniliness was excellent . Hotel has great character. Bed was SO comfortable and had a really good night sleep. Location was central to beaumaris - views over the straits were fabulous . Breakfast was excellent and service was good despite it being a busy morning .
liked everything !
It was in the location we needed to be and had lovely views.
It needs a lot of TLC. I understand there are new owners so let’s hope they spend some money on the place.Car park was chaotic and ended up parking in the street.Breakfast was chaotic no staff.
Staff lovely Breakfast served to table which was nice although the cold elements could be better Room large and comfortable old world charm
Buffet selection at breakfast could have been better
Breakast excellent, dinning in evening was very good with good food and wine selection, room excellent, amazing location, at the back good sitting area outside overloooking menai straits, nice room next to bar area and main sitting room was good as well. Enthusiastic staff particularly the trainees and great to see a business employing young people and providing career opportunities. The hotel has not been updated so most of the original features and art deco additions have been preserved which is a unique feature of this building
Major improvments since new owner has taken over, this is an amazing building and architecture but the overall entrance and hallway spoiled by access ramp for wheel chairs installed many years ago. Hopefully this will be removed soon and a more discrete access solution introduced so the grand entrance to the hotel is restored
Grand old hotel with original features and central location in a very historic town with lots to see
The location - overlooking the Menai Strait We had a front room with a view that was v spacious and comfortable The staff were all friendly and helpful
Parking at the hotel was difficult with little room to manoeuvre and cars blocking space . Wasn’t monitored who parked . Menu was a bit limited - same in bar and restaurant , didn’t change , and no specials , and quality of fish and meat not always good- would have paid more for better quality
Mostly a lovely iconic hotel in a very good location, good proximity to beach and high Street and Castle
Some parts of the hotel in beed to redecoration, especially the restaurant and second floor corridors. Our room was very dated , stains on carpet.
Beautiful traditional hotel, we booked the sea view 4 poster bed room and it did have a lovely view. In very warm weather the room would be very hot but there was a fan provided. The room was spacious and had chairs to sit on too. The room was clean and kept clean for the 4 days we were there. Breakfast was lovely everything you would want. The location was perfect in the heart of Beaumaris in walking distance to everything shops, pubs, castle, boat rides etc. We didnt have a dog but it clearly is a very dog friendly hotel if you wanted to take your dog with you.
The only downside but this is not really the problem of the hotel is the car park whilst it had quite a few spaces was very difficult to park in. Often there were no spaces for residents. However, there is a large car park opposite which you could pay for if you needed to.
Comfortable and friendly staff
Unreserved parking for guests
Location and view beautiful. Great breakfast
Dinner a shambles. Took over 45 minutes to get pour dinner. Bar ran out of ice and lime juice. Parking poor. Poor welcome at reception. We have been regularly twice a year for over a decade yet we are welcomed as strangers. Very poor. The chef needs to learn how to cook belly pork. The skin should be crisp!!
Perfect location, clean room. All the amenities needed. All staff were incredibly helpful and couldn’t do enough for me. Really didn’t want to leave and would definitely go back again if I was in the area! The included breakfast was cracking, Linda and the team again couldn’t do enough for me!
I prefer parking on site and did get lucky, they have limited spaces but they really have absolutely maxed out the available parking space they have to get as many cars in as possible! Street parking is easy and there are car park options, it wouldn’t put me off staying again at all
Lovely breakfast with friendly staff Great location for the castle Local eateries in walking distance
Small carpark
Breakfast excellent Room excellent
Not enough staff during the day/evening on food beverages etc, The staff on duty worked very hard and long hours to cover for the shortages
The location and view - it's stunning. The cleaners who came to do the room. Very nice lot. The restaurant managers. Evening and morning. Both exceptional. Nice note and bottle of wine as we were on honeymoon. Thanks. The food - First rate.
The attitude of some of the other staff. The windows in the restaurant were so filthy that it rather spoilt the view! Honestly, go sit in there by the window and look out. The ridiculous dual breakfast menu - giving visitors a better choice than residents. When I asked about having Eggs Royale (available to non-residents) I was told "The chef's quite busy atm.". As someone paying £224 / night, having booked my breakfast slot and turned up on time, I thought What on earth would the chef be busy with other than making guests' breakfast!? That waitress should have been pre-empowered to answer questions like this, or better still, make the menu clear that these things are available with an extra charge (which is fair enough). I got my eggs royalel and didn't mind paying the extra but it was all a bit silly. While waiting for dinner I went to the bar. There was no one there and I waited a while. Eventually I accosted one of the staff who said I should wait for the barman who'd gone to get more glasses. Eventually he did come back, by which time there was a queue. Having looked at the bar menu I'd chosen a cocktail but when I told him I wanted this cocktail, he repeated it to me and looked at me as if I'd walked into a greasy spoon and asked for lobster. It really was an "are you kidding me" attitude. I thought, it's on the menu, what's the problem? Maybe he was having a bad day, Idk, but that certainly wasn't my fault. Anyway, he duly made my cocktail and it was very nice, but his attitude was awful. I also asked him directions to the outside terrace and he made me feel like I was stupid. It was bad enough I'd had to wait ages, so this was really not the experience I expected from my first night in the most expensive hotel room I've ever stayed in, trying to have a nice time on my honeymoon. Also, no room service? Really? My husband was ill and couldn't come down for dinner.
Its position
A little tired Bed could have been better. And bedroom chairs could have been higher and and more comfortable.
Charming hotel ….not modern but comfortable and a great location. The staff were the loveliest
Bed was only a standard double
The staff The location. Fan in the room. Breakfast big and a good choice.
Everyting
Nothing
Location. View from bedroom great. Breakfast great.
Food average. We have been to the Bulkeley many times before. But we were welcomed as strangers. They must welcome better if you have been before!! Far too slow at dinner. Waiter over 45 minutes before we got our food.
Location and type. You expect Miss Marple to walk in any minute. Breakfast very good. We come once or twice a year for more than a decade. We love the hotel. Great view from bedroom.9
Dinner set up a mess. Sat for 10 mins. No one came. Booked for 8pm. No food until after8.45. Not good. Food ok but belly pork badly cooked. It should be crispy on top. Chef needs some lessons. Parking bad! Bar ran out of key drinks.
Everything ha apart from the seagull pinching my ice-cream ha absolutely great place to go highly recommend
I didn’t like anything about property 7 o’clock at the morning while we are sleeping loud music is on at the Restaurant which was just below my room because of shortest stuff very poor quality service
Fabulous location on the seafront. Good sized room with large characterful balcony. Huge public areas that we could use throughout the day. Very helpful desk staff. Good quality of evening food. Excellent eggs Benedict for breakfast. Good waiting staff.
Room decoration was a bit tired, especially bathroom. Car park small and other parking inconvenient because of time restrictions. However, we got a space at the hotel, so very convenient.
Good central location, excellent food and very friendly staff.
Downside, bedrooms and bathrooms very dated and in need of refurbishment, although clean and comfortable
The facilities at the hotel along with the great breakfast and location
The reception staff were a little unhelpful with a few issues including replacing used towels
Having been to Beaumaris so many times before it was lovely to stay so centrally with our dog.
The Hotel could do with central air conditioning. Only because I am a light sleeper. A fan and the window open is great for deep sleepers but not for a 4.30am riser. This is meant to be a helpful comment not a criticism.
Has Edwardian charm with beautiful sea view
Beautiful listed building, full of traditional, best possible location, great parking.
Rooms on street side are noisy and hot. Wifi upstairs too slow to use.

Nothing
Location brilliant and staff fantastic.
Building is need of a little updating.
I absolutely loved my stay! First of all, the location right by the sea is fantastic. Secondly, the hotel itself has amazing history and character. On top of that, the food was delicious. I left completely delighted with my experience!
Nothing, everything was great!
The location
Breakfast and evening meal were included. Both were very good. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The hotel is old but very good. Bed was hard but asked for extra quilts to pad the bed.
Bed being hard. Both have bad backs and hence needed a softer bed. Nothing else otherwise.
Like the easy going atmosphere and the history, combined with the old world decor and presentation. Great location with views across the Menai Straits at the front and access out the rear directly onto the high street.
The rooms hold the heat and it is difficult to gain much ventilation especially at night, but this is a small issue and very difficult to address especially with frequent heatwaves. There are no USB charging sockets which might catch some out and some of the carpets have stains which taint the rooms slightly especially with light coloured carpets.
Location
Is in need of refresh
We had a little problem as the room that I had booked had been doubled booked but the lady that phoned me was wonderful. I changed rooms and was given a bottle of wine for the trouble. The staff were all polite and a pleasure to deal with.
Great location, fabulous listed building that is well taken care of. Lovely outdoor area overlooking the Menai straits. Room was comfortable, large, big bathroom and a comfy bed. The team working throughout the hotel are welcoming, friendly, helpful and should be proud of their efforts.
Very small point - old school shower.
Beautiful building in a great location
Sadly the lift was not working
