Flannery's Hotel Galway

Stay was great . Unfortunately, in the middle of hurricane Amy …. But oh well !

Lovely place to stay

Enjoyed a two night stay. There was a mixup on our second day and our room was not serviced. Staff were quick to bring towels and coffee but it was disappointing to come home to an unmade bed and wet towels that had to lie on the floor for two days as staff did not take them away. Other than that, breakfast was lovely and our evening meal in the dining room our first night was convenient.

Functional hotel. Matress was fair but not great. Narrow hallways.

Great stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a bit of an old fashioned feel but that added to the charm of it. A bit outside of town but the bus was convenient right out front. The restaurant was nice and enjoyed the food but it could get quite hot in the evening when busy due to lack of air conditioning.

Large, clean room and bathroom; friendly and helpful staff!

Rooms were very clean and the staff were excellent. Along with plenty of parking. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Great food and music

Very helpful & friendly staff. Excellent food & pleasant bar area. Lovely old style hotel. Highly recommended.

Staff was amazing, very helpful and polite.

My room had no electricity.

NA

Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit tight, even the superior king room.

Rude staff, outdated facilities, horrible location. I would not stay here if visiting from out of the country.

This 3 star property is in an ideal location. On the main road into the city, easy to find. It’s clean, tidy and comfortable. The food was fine, breakfast was adequate. The staff on the other hand were all fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, although a lot of them are young, their entrants willingness to help was ready.

Nice hotel, we added the full breakfast which was very good and the breakfast staff was great. No AC so we had to have the window open and it was very noisy with car doors closing during the night.

Newly renovated. There was a lot of noise from outside seating at restaurant.

Lovely 1 night stay

Breakfast was very good, and plenty of staff and well organised. Nice bar and dining area, only gripe is the floors creak a bit and could hear noise from other rooms. But apart from that it's very good and reasonablely priced.

We were by something outside that made a very loud sound. Not super close to Eyre - everything was a hike. The carpet was gross. Staff were very friendly and helpful

The area of town is nothing special, but we enjoyed watching rugby practice at the adjacent pitch. Two issues were the shower; the pressure was good but the design is poor. There was water all over the floor afterwards. The second issue was really poor service in the restaurant, both at dinner and at breakfast. Apparently, being short handed is an issue outside of the US as well.

Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. No AC and it was quite warm that day and no ventilation or offerings of a fan for room.

Great stay!

Clean room and beds

It was an older hotel which added to its charm. The bartender Des gave us tons of information and was fun to talk to.

Toilet not clean and dirty. Bed uncomfortable, furniture old! Needs a renewal

Stayed here while traveling through Galway. The hotel is a bit outdated but well kept and clean. The beds were comfortable.

Affordable. Hotel is not centrally located in Galway however it is just a 10 min taxi ride. Staff hit or miss. Gross carpet.

Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely premises.

Completely enjoyable stay - warm and welcoming staff plus a good breakfast.

Poor service at breakfast. Table wasn’t set when we were seated. Had to ask for cutlery. Had a pot of tea plonked on the table with no cups or milk.

Was very outdated for the price

Great

First two nights were great, staff were friendly and I felt happy staying there. Then it changed with a very rude member of staff at breakfast. So put off my the experience, I avoided going the next morning, and dreaded it afterwards. Last day, checking out. Waiting for taxi to arrive to go to Shannon Airport, 1 hr drive away. No orher seats available to sit and wait in reception. Only these two. Other was occupied. Pointed out the inconsideration of another traveller, blocking an entire seat to Manageress on reception desk, who, instead of being helpful by asking the owners to remove the pile of suitcase, thought it best to be rude argumentative. Really wasn’t interested. Finally did manage to secure a seat, ever so briefly, as the taxi driver was early. And how sarcastic was the Manageress. Totally uncalled for.. Thing is, don’t dare say anything at all. It is not appreciated. That is the clear impression I got. So, to me that was just the last straw. I won’t be back. Sad, how a great hotel and amazing staff can be let down by just two individuals who clearly don’t like their jobs, and have no interpersonal skills dealing with the public in hospitality. It really wasn’t a big ask, was it??

It is great that they have a parking lot and parking is free. The hotel restaurant is also good, with a wide variety of options and reasonable prices. The hotel is outside of the city center, so you need to drive (and pay to park in a garage) or take a bus to get to the nifty shopping and restaurants at the city center, but once we learned how to do this on our first trip downtown the other trips downtown were easier.

Easy parking and bus availability to town

The staff were great, the complimentary breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. A bit far from downtown but we drove and there was complimentary parking.

Room was a little dated but it was clean quiet and comfortable.a bit of a walk from there towards downtown.

The staff was very friendly . And the place is nice and Clean. The breakfast was very good, they have different options of breakfast.

Staff was great, food was good, property is old but in good condition. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel on outskirts of Galway, very clean, good food and great value

I thought the coffee was excellent, even though apparently others didn’t like it. Hearty delicious breakfast, kind staff.

Easy commute into Galway centre. Responsive staff, very comfortable rooms and beds. Would definitely stay again!

We found the rooms very nice and comfortable. The front desk staff were wonderful, but the restaurant staff weren't as friendly or efficient.

Very old hotel, reasonably clean and presentable.

The staff are very helpful and great. Hotel is old. Nothing too special. Great parking. Meal/breakfast cold and tired. Could tell everything was cooled in advance. Better eating offsite

Lovely hotel with welcoming staff would highly recommend.

Excellent service and the friendly staff are very helpful and very welcoming. It's our 3rd time staying in the hotel and we both always loved it

Gteat staff, great location, lovely room and food

Nothing more to add at the moment, as my stay was excellent. I fully recommend to stay in this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

It's not a four star hotel. Furnishing is old and needs updated.

Simply put, The Flannery Hotel is one of the best kept secrets in Galway. An exceedingly clean, comfortable place to stay, with two fine restaurants, an excellent bar, and service that surpasses your expectations. Our room was clean, quiet, and modern. We chose this hotel because we needed parking and the parking was excellent -- plentiful, well-lit, and safe.

Nice comfortable and clean room. A big room with a nice bed and shower

Flannerys staff was top notch. Location to Galway only a 10 minute bus ride which is nice if you spend time in the pubs

It was a winderful surprise staying there. I liked it so much I decided to stay an extra night Front line staff are extremely helpful

It’s very true - the staff is so helpful and accommodating! The room was wonderful, exactly what we needed, parking was a breeze, and we walked to downtown entertainment district Galway, a few kilometres - no problem. Thank you to the staff! Wonderful!

always nice friendly place to stay

Staff was amazing, location was great.

Clean rooms, nice staff, and good breakfast.

General Manager Dara and his staff were awesome and helped us out of a very difficult situation. We arrived for a 3 day stay at the nearby Maldron Hotel but they had cancelled our reservation the day of our arrival. They claimed they couldn’t verify payment and said they tried to call. We we arrived at 5 PM but they said our room was no longer available. They made no effort to help us. We we lucky to get a 3 day reservation at the Flannery but there was an issue with our first night stay. Dara and his staff worked to find a solution for that. When we returned the next day we received an upgrade to a suite and had a lovely stay. This is a very nice hotel with Irish charm and fantastic customer service. Highly recommend!

The staff was extremely helpful with lining up a taxi and coming to our room to make sure our tv was working properly.

The most friendly, helpful staff and room amenities made our stay so comfortable. The restaurant made morning coffee very convenient and the location is walkable.

Nice hotel that was clean and a good value

Convenient with helpful staff

Excellent service and location.

Lovely place

Comfortable stay.

The shower was slow to drain and the TV and beds are extremely small, but overall the property is quaint and enjoyable

Great location

Clean and confortable bed. The staff specifically at the restaurant are very friendly and courteous. Breakfast buffet with good selections. I recommend the hotel.

Delicious breakfast included with our room. Best pillow I have ever had at a hotel! Perfect for our needs.

Great hotel close to everything

Conveniently located but not walkable. With a car it was easy to get to and from. Very nice overnight and nice to have a bistro in the same building.

The hotel is nice.

it suited my two friends and myself well for what we had planned to do.Despite the fact that we stayed over the weekend of the races the hotel was quiet.

This Hotel exceeded every expectation for our family. The front desk staff was kind, thoughtful and amazing! They answered every question and gave so many terrific recommendations. The bus is directly in front of the hotel. It’s a double-decker we rode it to and from Galway city every day with ease!

Lovely hotel and would stay again. Receptionist Catherine gave exceptional service when there was an issue with our room. She went above and beyond to sort this quickly and make sure we were happy. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and staff friendly and helpful

Kelly at the reception was the most helpful

Was very convenient location for us.

The staff was very lovely and the food was very good. Also the bed was super comfortable

Third time staying here and always a great choice. Excellent food, spacious & comfortable rooms & lovely staff. Only marked down a star for two minor reasons. 1. The residents bar should stay open later like almost every other Irish hotel. 2. Whoever selected the tapware in the bathrooms should have a rethink, the shower was impossible to figure out & the sink was almost completely unusable due to the massive intrusive single tap.

Staff was very welcoming and helpful. They gave us some very helpful sightseeing tips and made sure we understood our transportation options. Room was spacious and very clean. Would definitely stay again!

Great amenities. Not really walkable to shopping. Good restaurant though.

Great night stay & the staff were very helpful

The bartender at the restaurant told us about a great castle to visit in Ireland and we went and really enjoyed the visit

Two night stay to look around amazing Galway. Had dinner in restaurant both nights, meals ok, service very good.

Excellent lovely hotel very friendly staff.

The bed and pillows were soooo comfortable!!! The only negative thing I could say is the water pressure in the shower was terrible. Getting a city bus to and from Eyre Square was super easy and inexpensive

Great stay, only issue was no sockets beside bed and no usb sockets. Room slightly dated but clean and had almost everything we needed. Live music was excellent. Room beside light so noisy throughout night. Overall a good location and would stay again.

Nice clean place a block or two from Dingle's waterfront. Great place to stash the car.

The front desk was insanely kind and understanding and it was a beautiful room!

Lovely comfortable and spacious Room, very clean. Only downside was the noise from other guests as the door did not fully seal with the frame therefore was not noise proof and the doors slammed closed, the noise from the slamming doors and other guests walking down the corridor to their rooms and then the slamming of the doors kept waking/me awake. But all in all a very pleasant experience

Room was a bit small but really just there to sleep. Staff and meals were great, would stay there again for sure

The hotel was easy to deal with, both getting into and for getting into the city. The room was great. What I didn’t like was the breakfast. It was unclear how to pay for the breakfast (since the Expedia rate didn’t include breakfast). Once I finally paid (off to the side at the bar) I had to go back to the host desk to be seated. It was a poorly apportioned buffet where the fried eggs’ yolks were cook d solid after being under the heat lamp so long.

Fantastic front desk staff

Clean room and bathroom. Very good breakfast and convenient for where we wanted to be in Galway.

It is an older hotel but has been well maintained. Good value as is cheaper than some of the other hotels in the town.

Nice hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Our drain was fully plugged in the shower, my dad decided to clean it himself for some reason, but the manager offered us a free breakfast for the inconvenience. Would recommend a stay here to anyone.

While this is a lovely hotel. They clearly treat different level of guests differently. Those staying longer and with higher levels of accomidations got treated beautifully from what I witnessed - not exactly what I got. but nice warm room, with ample hot water.

Parking inadequate spaces for guests staying and those using dining facilities
