Staff were polite and helpful. No issue there
Wasn't particularly clean. I get that its a huge place and old place.
Very good breakfast
Nothing
Beautiful location, peaceful but plenty of activities to keep you occupied.
Staff helpful up to a point
No hot water,Toilet not flushing,Barrels being loaded outside room at 2.00am followed by o600am Kitchen machinery started too loud to continue sleep
Nothing
Was dirty
Amazing building and location
Room sub standard, not clean including toilet bowl, spider webs and spiders galore, dust and felt run down.
Bb
Breakfast was good initial room was very dark mattress filthy with stainage complained to manager and moved to another room which was cleaner and brighter
The hotel is very dated and in need of refurbishment not value for money
Location was good, lovely reception area
When I checked in, I was directed to my room, upstairs then follow signs, I was carrying 4 bags, travelling alone, I struggled with my bags and tne room was a very long way up more stairs, right at the back of the hotel, close yo the car park at the back. It would have been helpful for the member if staff that checked ne in to have told me this, they coukd see I was struggling with my bags
Breakfast was good, nice selection of food all tasty my only very tiny bit of feedback was the bacon was a bit hard
It was chilly in the bar and the garden room for breakfast as the windows were open
Great room, quiet nights sleep and a wonderful location. The food was excellent.
It is a very long walk from the car park to reception - I'd advise to drive down to reception and drop off your luggage!
Where do I start. From the entrance, the friendly welcome, the free room upgrade, the food, the service. This lace exceeded my expectations. Seeing the low score on booking.com I had reservations but the price was right for what i needed. I was blown away by everything
The view, the grandeur, the converted church into spa but not the best spa for the price
Price of the spa. Room was small and lacking modernisation. Uncomfortable bed and pillows Not best WiFi coverage and speed Spa facilities disappointing - steam out of action. Sauna was not hot at 60⁰ so had to ask to turn up, but only went to maximum 70⁰
The drive up the driveway was special
Breakfast - they didn’t have any veggie sausages and had to wait ages for bread, eggs, beans to be replenished Flash flood meant the door out to the car park was not accessible
Bed was comfy
One rickety lift to our floor, not enough lighting in the room, make up stains on the carpet, not enough plug sockets in the room. Asked for a double bed had 2 singles pushed together, beds not made properly all the sheets were not tucked in. The room was warm so we used the fan in the wardrobe it was dirty and full of dust, no teaspoons with the coffee making facilities, ceiling fan didn't work. Not worth the money paid we paid for 1 night
Beautiful grounds and the obvious history. Great views and walks. The receptionist Joseph was lovely. Bed and pillows super comfy and a lovely en suite. We didn't use the spa but it looked lovely. Great parking too.
Our sink in the bathroom didn't drain. At breakfast I had to ask for bread to make toast, teaspoons as none available and no salt and pepper! The window pane had a large crack in the room.
Great area, love coming to visit the spa
This is my third visit, this time for the same price we were put into a “dingy” room the double bed was broken so the left side was slanted meaning an uncomfortable night sleep, the bathroom was dirty and the staff took us 35 mins to check in when we arrived at 6:30pm/7pm. We also visited the spa the next morning and had to pay for the robes which I think for 200+ should be in the room.
The location was lovely and so was the food. The spa was very nice and the views from it were great
The toilets near reception werent clean, the room wasnt as clean as it should be when we went in, there were drinks stains all over the tables, and the tables in the dining area werent clean and never any juice. Only the little things but they make a difference
Great location lovely spa, great golf course, lovely setting - rooms where clean
Hotel was dated and in need of an update - beds where incredibly firm resulting in us waking up with a bad back both mornings.
The property is beautiful with so much history and culture. It needs alot of TLC old carpets, uneven floors, paint. Rooms are dated, mould around shower. Had to get a new room and the shower was leaking when we had arrived there was a huge puddle of water. Best part afternoon tea and the women working in that area. The infinity pool was the best part of the spa.
The Spa was over priced, steam room did not work. The person working at 7am was clueless with knowledge of facilities. No ropes to offer.
Dirty and unclean.
Beautiful scenery Lovely room
Nothing
It’s a wonderful building, the staff were charming, the room was very large with comfortable beds and the food was good.
I suspect that when the property was converted from a Salesians school into a hotel, millions of pounds were invested. Now, four decades later, it needs a refresh. Nothing too dramatic, but it needs tidying up.
Staff very friendly. Bar area nice to relax in and staff very welcoming to our dog.
Decor in room a bit tired (tea rings on bedside table). Food at dinner not so good.
Two couples who came for a one night and two rounds of golf deal. £115 per person which includes breakfast and £30 each allowance for dinner. (Golf alone would have cost approx £75 per person) Lady on reception when checking in after golf was very welcoming and friendly. (Plenty of free parking) Then had 2/3 of drinks in both bars as one was not open until 5pm. Had an issue with the beer which was cloudy but Andrew behind the bar was again very friendly and quickly resolved the issue. When I came back to order another round he had gone to change a barrel but Esme stepped in to help out. She was a real credit to the hotel, friendly, helpful, chatty and clearly enjoyed her job. We went to our rooms to freshen up before eating - yes they are somewhat tired and need of some TLC but what do you expect when you are paying such a small amount for what was included. The beds were comfy, the AC worked very well, the shower was good and it was quiet through the night. The menu at dinner was small as others have pointed out but what we chose was perfectly acceptable and we all enjoyed it. Again the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with a wide range of choices, hot/cold etc. Some question the price of the drinks - yes they are probably overpriced by 10/15% on a good gastro pub but again for the price you are paying for the package more than compensates for this. The only thing I would say to the owners is that there is definitely a need for additional staff on the bars. Andrew was very efficient but rushed off his feet throughout the time we were there which resulted in delayed orders and the bar looking a little messy and untidy with glasses etc waiting to be washed. Simply adding one extra person would have alleviated this. Overall a great stay and would go back on the same deal.
Stunning views and idyllic location however definitely wouldn't class it as a 4 star hotel. My partner booked this as a treat. The pros are - peacocks are beautiful, the food is nice, the spa is lovely and the treatments are good, the staff were friendly. The cons - it is in desperate need of an upgrade. The corridors aren't clean. There was bottles cups glasses everywhere. The carpets and walls are all stained. Dust everywhere. We had an upgraded room and the mould in the bathroom was really bad. The bed was comfortable but so soft you would literally roll into each other. My partner paid extra for luxury box of chocolates, prosecco and rose petals. We had the prosecco however no rose petals and instead of luxury chocolates there was just a plate covered in cling film with small bits of lemon cake and millionaire shortbread and 2 biscuits. He did mention it to reception who confirmed they would refund him for this so hopefully he will get the refund. We were quite thirsty and needed a drink at around 11.30 pm. My partner went down to the bar to grab some cokes but there was no staff serving. It was ridiculously hot. The room had a fan but it was so dusty it just blew dust everywhere. Windows are all rotting. All in all I would attend the spa again but absolutely wouldn't waste any money on staying in the hotel. It's a shame because it isn't cheap but doesn't look like any money is put back into the upkeep of the hotel.. also we were fine as no mobility issues however I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with walking difficulties or disabilities, there are stairs everywhere. The car park is quite a distance from reception. Over all I would say I'm disappointed... I've always wanted to go so I'm glad I experienced it but i wish I'd have spent the money elsewhere. Feels like a lot of money for what it is.
I had the best stay here and the staff were all very helpful especially Charlotte who gave me great service and was very helpful. She should definitely get a promotion.
Spa is fab, so relaxing. Restaurant is lovely and food is perfect (dinner and breakfast) Rooms are clean and comfortable.
We had afternoon tea the best we had the staff were really helpful. They asked us if we had any allergies and said we could change a few things around .Marci on reception was really friendly and even got me a refill of coffee will be going again soon.We have stayed at the hotel before and is a beautiful area and our room was really nice great food too.keep doing what you are doing all and see you soon.
Currently having a lovely spa hen do break. Views are beautiful Twilight experience was a lovely experience with a lovely sunset. All service and people spoken too are well mannered and professional. Already recommended before leaving and will be back. Thankyou
First the "bad" then the Good. This hotel is very much everything that you think of when you want a countryside retreat. The hotels profile photo is no trick it really does look that good around the grounds. It does start with a short drive up a quite steep hill, but the waterfall feature at the hills starting point helps to set the tone of the stay. From what I can tell there are some remedial works going on in the background so I cannot speak for every room, but the rooms we did see (Including our own) were definitely on the 'much loved' side of things and whilst everywhere was kept to a good cleanliness standard, some paint/plaster cracking could dampen the mood, but I do think this would only be the case if you were a perfectionist by nature. Now for the reasons why it is a 5 star experience for me. I made the booking direct through their site (overnight B&B + evening dining + Spa), the package cost was already excellent as it came with the £30 restaurant supplement each, and I made a note that this was for my pregnant partners birthday. I only brought up the awareness of pregnancy purely for food safety awareness; and the slim possibility that early labour could occur; then the day before I was due to arrive, I received an email from Charlotte, where she provided us with an upgraded package and a treatment in the spa. She was quick to reply and always polite, she even left a birthday card, chocolates and a personally written memo in the room. The Spa facilities were spot on, at the time of my stay one smaller pool/hot tub was undergoing remedial actions but there was plenty of space and access to the other pools, especially the outdoor infinity pool; Plus the spa was all within a church, which makes it the coolest church that I've ever been too. Food was spot on, the 'tree dining room' is really well maintained and the service from all staff was professional, polite and attentive.
The location was nice.
The hotel was very run down/neglected. Our room was dirty, lights didn’t work. Walls through the hotel were dirty and carpets covered in stains.
Room felt recently refurbished. Breakfast was great. View from front of hotel over golf course.
Fact that only specified spa was extra after booking. Corridors towards rooms need some tlc
My daughters booked me a spa break here for my birthday 🎂 and we had a wonderful time . The spa facilities were lovely , especially the infinity pool looking out across the grounds . We had a lovely room with the same great view. Staff were all very helpful , food was good and little extra touches like cakes and prosecco in our room were fab ! I can highly recommend
We had a lovely trip to Shrigley Hall. I had booked to celebrate my mum's birthday, Charlotte in the Guest Experience team made sure my mum felt special and celebrated. We booked the luxury spa package and our treatments were great, the spa facilities were wonderful and the staff helpful. Our room was fab, even through the heatwave it stayed cool and comfortable, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. Dinner was good, food was hot and tasty. Well made and fast service. Bar facilities nice and good prices.
Location is excellent. Lovely views over the golf course. You can as a none golfer walk a dedicated path yo a nice woodland walk but dont stray onto the course. Look of the hitel is very nice. Downton Abbey springs to mind. Very grand appearance. Check in was great. Friendly staff and I was early but my room was ready. No additional staff to assist with bags or to your room. Room was small but tidy. It did have mold around old wood window frames but im been picky. Bathroom was lovely. Bar and restaurant area nice. Staff great. Food fine, not excellent but nice. Limited menu. Looking a rad deeper you start to see the poor points. Outside the restaurant is a patio seating area. Tables dirty. Ashtrays and used glasses. Tables not arranged in a good order. Weeds coming through flags and parasol weights scatter about causing a trip hazard. Window sills on restaurant filthy with rot. Steps up to pool still cordoned off sine I was last here 2 years ago. Some finishing tiles missing off outdoor pool. Inside pool set of steps to jacuzzi cordoned off due to loose tiles. Fag ends here and there. Bar area lovely but eye watering expensive. Glass of house red £12. A pint of lager £7.85. I'm sure they could do something there. Fortunately I took my own supplies and was back in my room soon after evening meal. For an establishment that sells on the appearance of a high end country home really needs to up its game in some areas. I've been twice now, time to look somewhere else.
Wonderful relaxing spa hotel, nestled in the beautiful countryside. The indoor pool area is very serene, and the outdoor pool has stunning views. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I definitely reccomended It.
Had a brilliant stay. The facilities were great, and everything was clean and well looked after. The staff were really friendly, especially Charlotte, who was incredibly polite and always happy to help with anything. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay again!
Excellent service and such a relaxing place. Will definitely be back
Gorgeous atmosphere so relaxing and the staff were amazing
I took my Mum to Shrigley as a treat for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. The service in the restaurant for both our dinner and our breakfast was excellent. Lovely room with a comfy bed and relaxing rain shower. Spa was a wonderful experience also and we both left feeling very relaxed
Great location, good restaurant and bar.
Stunning location close to Macclesfield we booked the stay, dine and spa package. The staff were great on reception checking in and in the spa. We had 4 hours access included in the booking for the spa. Amazing facilities especially the infinity pool. Our room was clean and modern and we enjoyed the food at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. This is my 3rd visit to Shrigley and will definitely be returning.
Excellent food at dinner in the evening Helpful staff on reception and in the dining room Good size bedroom, clean Lovely location Amazing views and walks Good size car park
Public areas were very much in need of hoovering, messy carpets all round Bedroom needed a hairdryer Bath water needed running twice as quite brown to start with, then much better Breakfast was pretty basic Faux flower arrangements everywhere could do with a spruce up, and/or some real flowers
I did not have the breakfast.
I would have expected the price to include the use of the steam and sauna rooms. I had to pay £50 for an afternoon session of 3.5 hrs. One of the saunas was cold. If the sauna and steam was included, or even a £10 charge for the day, I would return. Not at the current offering though.
Shrigley Hall Hotel was disgusting. It’s years since I’ve been and my husband and I took a drive out to have a nice lunch there. The views are stunning, the building from the front, beautiful. That was the good bit. We went in to a courtyard that was dirty and unkempt. A peacock was pooing everywhere but that just added to the dirty flagstones and general ambiance. We ordered the smallest meal we could, it arrived, it was ok….hummus and tapas. No napkin , no cutlery. We ate quickly and walked out through the filthy bar area to sit at the front of the hotel to at least appreciate the view. Cigarette butts, dog poo, rubbish everywhere . We left. We won’t be back.
Charlotte was brilliant, very friendly and great service - thanks again
🌿 An absolutely outstanding experience at the beautiful Shrigley Hall, near Macclesfield. 🌿 From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were looked after like royalty. 👑❤️ The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and welcoming, and the suite we stayed in was absolutely beautiful — spacious, comfortable and perfect for a relaxing break. The evening meal was totally gorgeous, and breakfast was truly fit for a king (and queen)! 😍🍽️ This time, we didn't actually play golf — although I couldn't resist spending an hour or so on the chipping green! 🏌️♂️😂 We also had a little wander around the course, and after seeing it, I'm already really looking forward to coming back to play it properly. The location is simply stunning, with fantastic views all around. The spa looks absolutely fabulous too, although this time we were more than happy just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying each other's company. ❤️ Sometimes you don't need to do much at all — just switch off, chill out and enjoy a beautiful place. We had the best time and will definitely be back! 🥰 Highly, highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice place with beautiful grounds . Very quiet nights sleep enjoyed . Lovely area of the peak district. Evening meal and breakfast were both very nice and well served by the many staff about. All the staff were active and efficient ,special mention for Esme who was attentive and entertaining. Would go again.
Had the most amazing stay at shrigley for my boyfriends birthday.. room was lovely clean and had everything we needed. Evening and morning spa was perfect 👌 breakfast was lovely also. Would highly recommend a stay here.
We booked a night with dinner, bed and breakfast, to surprise friends of ours who were there on a group tour. Initial impressions were good. Looks stunning from outside and lobby and public areas beautiful. The reality was very different. Accessibility was challenging due to a maze of shabby hallways littered with steps and stairs. The room was very shabby, desperately in need of refurbishing and festooned with cobwebs. The only saving grace were the linens and towels and comfortable beds. The food was pretty good and good portion size. We decided against dessert as we were full after the main course, and asked for the bill. I queried the bill with the waitress. The package we booked was dinner, bed and breakfast, and we did see from the email that in fact the dinner part was actually a £30pp allowance. Our quick scan of the email meant that we missed the significance of their careful wording…” £30pp food dinner allowance”. We had also ordered a bottle of wine. The amount to pay was greater than we had roughly calculated bearing in mind the £60 allowance. The waitress explained that the allowance applied only to the food part of dinner and we should have been informed of that when we were shown to our seats by the manager. In other words it’s a win win for the hotel all round. If you aren’t greedy they make a profit on your unused paid up front allowance and if you enjoy a starter and dessert you are spending more! I spoke to the manager, who was polite but intransigent as he read out the wording in the email. He did not sympathise, apologise that the restaurant manager had not made the situation clear or admit that it was misleading. The booking information should actually state quite clearly that in this case “dinner” has a very limited meaning and note the exclusions specifically. We felt conned to be honest. Listening to other people we realise that many people were unhappy with their rooms. Would we recommend Shrigley Hall or stay there again? Definitely not. Our advice would be to go over hotel offers and bookings with a fine toothcomb. We learned that one the hard way
Took solo trip as I felt like I deserved a bit of a getaway from every day life. From the moment I walked in I was greeted to a lovely warm welcome from when I walked up to the check in desk. The receptionist, I couldn’t fault her. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Everything was ran perfectly and she even persuaded me to try the twilight spa session. I have never felt so relaxed in my life, exactly what I needed from a tough week at work. Would certainly recommend whether you’re doing a solo trip like me or with a group. Will certainly be returning
We had a gorgeous deluxe room with a view, I would recommend this option, which felt a bit like Downton Abbey! I fear many rooms are not this nice, we were lucky to get an upgrade. Breakfast was good. Friendly service.
We were a bit disappointed with the food in the restaurant, although it was quite good value for money. We wanted to walk round the grounds / woods but it seemed impossible to do this without crossing the golf course, which is strictly forbidden - and dangerous!
The room was excellent ; far better than I expected. The grounds and views are magnificent and the location was ideal for my purpose
The dining menu was less than might be expected for a four star hotel
Absolutely awful experience! We arrived for an anniversary break, but did not unpack our bags , due to the fact that this hotel is very run down. We should have read the reviews! We were given a room key and directed to the room , upstairs and down many shabby corridors. This really is a poor business. Communal areas are littered with cigarette bits and dirty glasses. There is clearly no attention to the cleanliness of general areas. When I asked to speak to duty manager to explain why we would not stay, he seemed as if he was used to this reaction. The owners need to sort things out-
We had a lovely stay at Shrigley Hall Hotel at the end of July on their family dinner bed and breakfast summer deal. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The room we had was a little tatty (rusty bath panel, few lived in marks on the wall etc) but nothing major, only downside was how warm it was and the windows were quite small, there was however a fan provided (for these random heatwaves we keep having!) The dining area and staff were fabulous. We ate evening meal in the pink room and had breakfast in the wisteria tree room - stunning. The food options for both adults and kids were fab, we all thoroughly enjoyed every course. Breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold items all self serve with lovely coffee. All in all a fab stay and would definitely return if our travels took us that way again.
We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa, we had a fantastic time & the venue itself was picture perfect, from the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, the room we stayed in was immaculate, had everything we needed & incredible views from the window, I cannot fault anything about our stay at Shrigley Hall & we will definitely be staying there again.
Die schöne Lage und das schöne Gebäude
Das Frühstück war immer gleich und etwas langweilig.
Location was excellent for the Peak District and other locations. Food was good 👍 😋 we did not use the spar but it looked inviting
The road up to the hotel needs attention
Had a lovely stay last wednesday night , was helped by the lovely charlotte from Guest experience who made sure everything was to our liking. I haven't had such an attentive experience in such a long time , made my holiday thanks guys !!!
Free car parking. Large bathroom
Hotel in very poor condition, damaged walls and woodwork. Room was a Delux Room, on 3rd floor {loft extension}. No lift to 3rd floor as out of order had to walk numerous stairs from 1st floor. the window was a skylight, and in order to shut it had to stand on a chair. Patches of threadbare carpet, no wardrobe, just an 18 inch rail, no drawers, hair dryer and iron stored on floor. Duvet too small for the bed. Walls and woodwork marked and damaged. Shower too hot as no cold water from shower, toilet needed multiple flushes to be effective. The whole place is run down and in need of a major refurbishment. I would not recommend Shrigley Hall to anyone. I feel completely ripped of, as the room was not cheap and certainly not DeLux, more very basic. The breakfast was lukewarm. Evening meal in the restaurant was OK, but the open annex had a function , male dominated, which was very loud with the people there shouting and using foul language, our waitress indicated this type of function is a regular event. Not what one would expect when dinning in a hotel restaurant
Breakfast was excellent.
Was tatty and grubby and run down. Rooms were boiling hot. The lay out was crazy complicated
Location and the view from the grounds
Rooms and interior are dated, requiring modifications
Loved the experience and facilities were fantastic! Only thing I could say was that yous had ran out of quite a lot of drinks at the bar ( spa area) even bottled water, there was a wedding on upstairs at the same time but thought should of been a little more choice to choose from. Other than that I will definitely be cumming back and maybe sample the food next time 😃
Loved it but wanted to stay into the afternoon.. Courtney was fantastic and gave me the best treatment x
We had a lovely time at Shrigley Hall. We stayed two nights and made the most of both the spa and restaurant. The spa facilities are lovely - the hot outdoor pool was fantastic, we did benefit from some cracking weather! The treatments were great. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent and priced well. We were served by some great staff too. Lovely atmosphere and nothing too much trouble. The grounds around Shrigley are lovely, cracking views and regular visits from the resident peacocks a highlight! We’d recommend it to others and would happily visit again.
What an absolute shame!! We were looking forward to our stay, if only we had known!! Never have we had to leave a hotel because of the cleanliness. My photos say everything. From dirty mouldy bar top mats to dirty stained beds and linens, dust, dirt & grime.
Postives - Spa was lovely. Facial was great. Outside pool was absolutely gorgeous. The lunch and staff in the spa were great too. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner was lovely and the staff attentive and helpful. I also used the gym which I found great. Negatives - Changing rooms were crowded and too narrow for the number of of people booked in at the same time given the 4 hour packages offered. Felt like getting dressed on a rush hour train and couldn't shower due to queues so waited until check in at hotel. The member of staff on reception wasn't very helpful and completely disinterested when approached regarding condition of room and the fact the wine and chocolates offered as part of package were not in the room at checkin. They finally arrived after 9pm after 2 trips to reception when we were going to sleep. The room was the biggest let down. It was room 163 which is reached via an electricity "cupboard" area. There is a tiktok video circling regarding this room which we found amusing upon check in. The room was for 4 people but contained only 1 single and 1 double bed. My bed was a small couch bed that was equivalent to sleeping on a brick wall. The room also contained 3 non working tvs which we reported and the member of staff who attended re the issue was lovely but couldn't fix any of them. All in all I'd love to stay again as enjoyed the facilities but hopefully not be checked into an electricity cupboard with a rock solid pull out bed on my next visit 😀
We celebrated a birthday at Shrigley Hall, and it couldn't have been a better choice. The whole experience was incredible value for money from start to finish. The highlight has to be the heated outdoor pool. Soaking in the warm water while taking in the uninterrupted views stretching for miles in historic grounds was absolutely magical. The spa itself was wonderfully peaceful, never overcrowded, with a fantastic variety of thermal rooms to explore at your own pace. Sunday lunch was exceptional. The portions were so generous that neither of us could finish our meals! We decided to skip dinner because we were still so full... and later wished we'd made room for it. For my treatments, I chose the Deep Sleep Full Body Treatment and the Silk Road Facial. Both were outstanding. I left feeling as though I was floating – completely relaxed, pampered, and refreshed. That was followed by one of the quietest, most restful night's sleep we've had in a long time. Breakfast the next morning was exactly what we needed after such an undisturbed sleep, setting us up perfectly before checkout. Shrigley Hall exceeded our expectations in every way. If you're looking for a relaxing spa break with beautiful surroundings, delicious food, and excellent treatments, I can't recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be back!
Was lovely only thing I would say is there was no toilet roll and most beers had run out by 6pm
Lovely spa break at Shrigley Hall, lovely food, facilities are beautiful and the spa staff were so attentive.
Visited for sunrise spa and it was beautiful. Staff lovely polite and pleasant. The spa was amazing So relaxing and chilled It was extremely clean and tidy Well laid out Outdoor pool spectacular views of Manchester from infinity pool Steam room was awesome so lovely and hot Sauna very relaxing The main indoor pool is bigger than I thought Definitely worth a visit
Idyllic location set in the countryside for a peaceful and relaxing spa break. Spa is amazing! We got upgraded to a luxury view deluxe double room and it was so spacious and beautiful. Excellent value for money at just £79 a night!! Spa is a paid extra and worth every penny!! Quite and clean room with a ceiling fan to keep cool!
Me & my girlfriend stayed for 2 nights and had an amazing stay thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff. Even when we had some minor issues like key card not working - everything was sorted professionally, and with care. In particular, Sophie on the front desk in the hotel, who was extremely helpful and welcoming, and was always happy to help us throughout our stay. We had never visited the hotel before so we’re unsure about some things, but Sophie helped us to understand everything clearly and was very polite and caring throughout our trip. The restaurant staff were also helpful and everything ran quickly and smoothly, and our spa sessions were perfect, with everything we needed, and great treatments. The friendly staff really allowed us to relax and have a great time at Shrigley. Would definitely come again. Thank you!!
The worst hotel I've stayed at
We arrived at the spa which was so welcoming everyone was really nice and polite, we spent all afternoon in the spa so relaxing and then checked in to the hotel where again the staff was amazing the restaurant was so nice, breakfast was unbelievable
Attended a wedding. Absolutely fantastic place, great food and excellent service. Highly recommend
We had a lovely time using the spa, our massages were amazing, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We came for a break from caring responsibilities and the staff treated us with compassion and kindness. Will definitely be back.
I booked Shrigley Hall Hotel specifically for my birthday with my friend and had an amazing time. I felt so welcomed by the staff, especially Charlotte and Sophie, who went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special. The hotel has a beautiful, warm and luxurious feel, with stunning scenery and a lovely spa. It was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway and birthday celebration. This was truly a five-star experience, and I will definitely be returning. I highly recommend Shrigley Hall to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing escape!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Shrigley Hall. It was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent. The staff mostly were friendly and helpful. There was just one young lady who was not, I think she probably needed some more training in Customer Service. We had no problem with noise level at all. The air conditioning was very much appreciated. The walk in shower was exactly as we required as we are blue badge holders. I am sure we will go back.
I cannot find a single fault from my recent stay. An incredibly good value for money, excellent service, beautiful surroundings and just what was needed for a lovely relaxing stay.
Hotel and spa experience excellent. The Spa was super relaxing and the staff were friendly and polite. Loved the heated infinity pool. Strongly recommend the bar and lunch menu in the Spa. The cheeky peacocks kept us entertained, trotting around the infinity pool, walking along rooftops and appearing in the hotel bar!
My partner and I recently got engaged at the hotel on Sunday, making our stay even more special. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The spa was also clean and well maintained. Our only minor criticism was that the hot stone massage was much more intense than we expected and, at times, bordered on being painful. Aside from that, we genuinely couldn’t fault the hotel or our overall experience. It’s worth remembering that you’re not going to receive a luxury spa experience costing £600 for £150–£190 per person. We feel some of the negative reviews are a little exaggerated, and it’s important to have realistic expectations. For the price, we thought the hotel offered excellent value and we’d happily recommend it.
Lovely day out, staff were helpful. Just wish the sauna was hotter and that it’s labelled what products are in the bathroom!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were really good
Place is a bit tired
Lovely room great evening meal fabulous walks highly recommend 😄👍
Had the most beautiful relaxing Morning on my birthday. Lovely atmosphere, amazing staff and gorgeous view. Thankyou
Staff were lovely and amenities were outstanding. Just a shame that the bar was closed upon arrival. Highly recommend
Amazing, I love shrigley It's fabulous, can't keep me away, roll on july 2027 We re teachers, come here for end of term much needed relaxation!
Having seen some mixed reviews I was a little nervous but there was absolutely no need. I booked an overnight spa break with my daughter and the whole experience was first class. Super friendly staff, the spa was amazing, our treatment was lovely and incredibly relaxing - and being able to have a sneaky wine in the outdoor pool in the sunshine was an added bonus! Our classic twin room was small but perfectly formed and very clean. The bathroom was lovely and modern. The evening meal was fantastic and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. We will be back!
I was really looking forward to my spa day at Shrigley Hall with a friend, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The biggest issue was my treatment. I had booked a 30-minute treatment, however the hands-on treatment didn't begin until around 10 minutes after my appointment time and lasted approximately 10 minutes. I was back at reception within 25 minutes of my scheduled appointment. I raised this immediately and was assured by the Spa Manager that 50% of my £105 spa day would be refunded. However, I only received a refund of £22.50. Unfortunately, there were other issues during the day too. The outdoor pool was far too hot to enjoy, the indoor jacuzzi wasn't filled to an adequate level, causing water to spurt everywhere, and several spa facilities were out of order. What has disappointed me most, however, is the lack of customer service afterwards. I emailed the spa on 9 June to raise my concerns and, despite waiting patiently and numerous emails, I have still not received any response to my complaint. It's a shame, because issues can happen, but good customer service is about how they're resolved. Sadly, on this occasion, I don't feel my concerns have been taken seriously. There are much better spa's locally.
From booking to check out the whole experience was a delight Spa treatments were lovely Room was spotless bed was comfy Food was great

The views and history of building
Place was just dirty. Sheets had stains on. There were bits of plastic and paper littered along passage way to my room and my bedroom looked like it need a thorough spring clean. Mouldy grout, no windows in bedroom. Also breakfast was just disappointing. Coffee machine was covered with dust. Couldn't wait to leave and i was only at the property for around 7 hours. If i hadn't arrived so late at night i would have checked straight out.
When you arrive at the driveway entrance, there is a lovely waterfall, a long drive and then an impressive 'stately home' with sweeping views over the grounds and peacocks wandering around. The staff were freindly but the good impression evaporated not long after check in. It was a Saturday night, a coach party were also staying and there were a couple of events going on. The hotel is huge so be prepared for a long trek, with baggage to find your room. I tried to book a better room category but that was unavailable so had to have the basic double at £172.00, including breakfast for 2. The bathroom was fine but the bedroom not so good. The bed was very uncomfortable, with a soft, squidgy (well used) mattress and the bed slid around the floor when you sat on it. It was one of the most uncomfortable night's sleep going and left my husband and I tired and with back ache. The TV was also hard to operate and the remote had also been well used, with lettering missing. Apparently, this was a refurbished room but it was very basic, the furnishings were not nice and no drinking water provided (apparently, you needed to book a better room to get this), it just smacked of cost cutting. The breakfast was dull, tasteless and seemed to consist of cheap ingredients. The dining room itself was beautiful though. Just a shame the breakfast wasn't as good. The hotel bar was expensive and uninspiring. The spa was being heavily used and seemed very popular, but there were so many people in it, it resembled 'human soup'. We had a second night booked but cancelled this as it had been a disappointing experience. I have family in the area but I'd rather stay at the Premier Inn.
Tired public areas didn’t feel Particularly clean, with limited dinner menu, especially if you’re allergic to fish/seafood as they only have one fryer, so you can’t have chips with anything! Bedroom was lovely though, stunning views, even though some light bulbs didn’t work, window sills were rotten and no plug sockets by the bed. Staff were very young but very polite and helpful. Overall an OK experience
We held a wedding on the 12th July and had an excellent experience from the planning stages and on the actual day. Annabel was our point of contact in the planning stages, and she was very helpful and very quick at replying back to any queries. We had about 170 guests in the Tilden suite, and it was the perfect size, with Air conditioning - extremely helpful in the heat wave! The floors have recently been upgraded and the staff on the day were very helpful, Eamonn was our co-ordinator, and checked in with us often. All of our guests had a fantastic time and I would definitely recommend for a wedding venue!
Lifts not working when I’m located on floor 3, not good and so many stairs. I needed a map similar to London Underground! Bathroom whilst very clean was very tired and some of the fittings needed relaxing or a jolly good clean
