Great location, lovely building, classic decor spacious room, good bathroom, great bed.
Urgent need of maintenance and TLC in the room we stayed in. Very expensive for the offering
Location
Staff seemed inflexible about a 2 hour extension on check out.
The staff were exceptional! Our room was comfortable and cozy! The food was delicious!!
We did not have breakfast at the hotel. Our experience was exceptional.
The quiet atmosphere. Felt like staying in a private club.
Nothing to dislike.
Comfortable architecturally, location perfect, staff friendly and accomidating
Pub/bar music (taped) too loud, area too dark
First class accommodation, staff, and food. And the bartender made the finest Negroni I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Located in the upscale Yorkville area of Toronto, steps from the ROM, with easy access to the subway. We also took the opportunity to experience the High Tea, which was exquisite, and took full advantage of the pool, sauna, workout room and salt room. All in all, an exquisite building with wonderful rooms and first-class staff. Many, many thanks!
I liked the charm of the hotel. Very lovely, artsy and vintage look.
The lights in the room were adequate, however the operating pad is very bright next to the bed and does not dim down when in night mode. Could do with some new window blinds - current ones in the room are functional but stained and old
Wonderful couple of days. The staff here make you feel like you’re coming home. Hotel is very old world feeling with some exquisite decor. Looking forward to returning
Owner SCAMS people, he owes myself and another company’s invoices for staffing services and refuses to pay. He is an awful human being. I’ve been in this industry for 22 years and I’ve never experienced anything like him.
The location was amazing. We were overwhelmed by the beautiful atmosphere and the room was so attentive and beautiful. The staff was second to none. Clearly hired on their out going personalities and charm. 10 plus stars
Our recent experience with the Windsor Arms Hotel was extremely disappointing and frankly baffling—especially for a property that presents itself as a luxury, multi-star hotel. We booked a stay to celebrate a special occasion, had to change the date once (which they accommodated), and then faced an urgent family situation the morning of our rescheduled stay. Despite calling early, we waited hours for a response and were ultimately refused any reasonable option to move the reservation again. What makes this particularly frustrating is that there were clearly rooms of the same type available both on the date we were leaving and the date we were requesting—this was not about availability, but about rigid policy being enforced without any common sense or flexibility. What truly fell short was the complete disconnect between the hotel’s luxury positioning and the level of service we received. A multi-star hotel sets expectations of discretion, empathy, and a willingness to find solutions for guests—especially in unforeseen circumstances. Instead, management, including the VP of Operations (Michael F), responded in a way that felt defensive and dismissive, offering no meaningful compromise such as a credit or even a fee-based change. Rather than demonstrating the kind of thoughtful, guest-first approach one expects at this level, the experience felt transactional and inflexible. For a hotel that markets itself on exceptional service and long-term guest relationships, this was a surprising and disappointing failure, and it makes it very difficult to consider returning or recommending it to others.
High Tea there is terrible. Soggy food, not enough food, worst server ever, noisy, crowded, uncomfortable seating, and the insult of sending 4 emails without even an apology. 5 star? No. Not even 3.
DO NOT book a stay here. Classic bait and switch scam. This is a fraudulent business, they increase the room rate after confirming a lower price and refuse to refund you. I've already reported them to Consumer Protection Ontario. If you've been defrauded by them as well, reporting them here ontario.ca/page/filing-consumer-complaint.
Manny was so helpful - from check-in to helping with a coffee service in the lounge and at every turn, as were the rest of the staff. Overall, a very relaxing stay
The wedding that was being celebrated was quite exuberant; we could hear it all the way to our room (but not in our room);
One does not expect to require a ledger, a clerk, and an advance retainer merely to take tea. I attempted to reserve the Tea Room for a perfectly modest gathering of fifteen—hardly a society gala—only to be told that I must either pay for the entire group upfront or have each guest RSVP individually, with no guarantee that we would even be seated together. A group, it seems, is only a group when it comes to payment—not experience. Adding to the confusion, we were informed that fifteen guests was too small to warrant a private room and that we would therefore be seated in the main Tea Room. And yet, somehow, the same group is deemed large enough to require full prepayment and considerable administrative effort on the part of the guest arranging it. One struggles to reconcile the logic. I was also told to expect a follow-up phone call regarding the reservation. Several days passed. No call came. Eventually, I had to chase the matter myself, at which point it became clear that the reservation had either been forgotten or never properly communicated internally—hardly reassuring when one is being asked to remit payment in advance. For a hotel that prides itself on refinement, this is remarkably ungracious. True elegance begins with service, not invoices. Being asked to collect funds, manage RSVPs, assume all responsibility, and then presumably still be expected to tip for the privilege is not hospitality; it is unpaid administrative labour. If arranging tea is this needlessly difficult, one can only wonder what the rest of the service might be like. Toronto has many more accommodating—and frankly more affordable—places that understand good manners cost nothing. I hope the Windsor Arms revisits its policies around group reservations. Until then, I would suggest taking one’s teacups elsewhere.
The room was very spacious and had a great decor. We were pleased with the amenities in the bathroom and the cleanliness of the room. The location was great to many shops and restaurants.
We were happy with everything.
Great breakfast and really peaceful dining area
Pool was under maintenance so couldn't use it
People super Kind They gave us very early check in Room Very big and clean
Breakfast second day was a bit slow to be fair they were recording a movie in the hotel so this could have impacted. Hotel is so beautiful that movies are recordered here!!!
Clean room and friendly staff!
it was a pleasant experience. everything went well
A lovely boutique hotel in Yorkville! Service was fantastic, our room was clean and spacious, the free bubbly and cookies, as well as really nice selection of free tea and coffee in the room was a nice touch. The decor is a bit dated, I’m not sure it’s giving luxury the way it maybe used to. But the spa is fantastic - highly recommend! Altogether a nice stay in Toronto!
Beautiful hotel with all the amenities and an extremely courteous staff made our stay in Toronto memorable. The hotel was comfortable and close to all of downtown.
Quality hotel with friendly staff and convenient location to downtown Toronto amenities. The nightly cookies were excellent.
A delightful gem of a hotel, with a storied history, beautifully restored to its former glory. Fabulous rooms and decor throughout. Swimming pool and roof terrace a wonderful bonus. Lovely staff. Breakfast could be a bit more. Shout out to Ronit at the spa who was charming.

It’s a gem in the city. We love the charm and afternoon tea is excellent.
Beautiful Boutique Hotel. It is nice to be remembered when we show up for another stay. This was our third.
Amazing staff, great breakfast experience too.
We went for the High Tea experience for my best friend’s bridal shower. Jacob was exceptional and made our experience that much more refined. They truly made the experience and we all had a wonderful time. Exceptional service and wonderful tea, thank you!

Location /staff / story/ restaurant food was good
Carpets in the rooms, furniture/furnishings looking a little tired/ breakfast was nothing to write home about
Great memories One of the worlds great boutique hotels full of charm and quiet elegance.
Over washed scratchy towels. Do not disturb is ignored. Shower could use better cleaning. Definitely needed better cleaning of the curtains and had to advise staff of an issue. Cheap hairdryer and was replaced with an even cheaper one. Environment is in good location and quiet. Carpet needs replacing.
I just love this hotel, it’s historic yet also very comfortable, beautifully maintained and beautifully renovated.
This hotel is well located and quiet. However, it is not a five star property by any definition. The interiors are tired but worse, my room was dirty. Skirting boards and corners had not been wiped down and had hair stuck on them. The bathroom floor was stained as was the shower. Better to stay less expensive but clean.
This is a quaint lovely hotel that caters to their guests From The Gatsby to The Tea Room it was a wonderful stay
Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff.
Our stay was fabulous. The service was top-drawer, especially in the hotel's restaurant, the Gatsby. We especially loved the opulent and luxurious atmosphere. WAH provided the quiet sanctuary we were looking for after busy days exploring and shopping in Yorkville. We plan to visit again soon.
The physical property is fine - BUT the service is very mixed. Ask for them to order a taxi from my room and they did not do it until I came to the lobby - wait meant i nearly missed plane. Breakfast menu was horrible - too complex. no fruit. Delivery of hair dryer and dinner to room were problematic - not owrthy of very high price.
Will stay here again next time I’m in town
Old English extravagance
Such a beautiful place to stay. Our room was clean and lovely. I loved the harp in our room and the complimentary champagne. The pool and sauna were gorgeous and empty when we went, which was amazing! Highly recommend.
Great visit! The rooms are well appointed, an interesting mix of the heritage of the original building & modern amenities. Peter, the valet, knows all of the history, and Noah was at the front desk, and very friendly. At the restaurant, Gatsby’s, the Friday night Jazz band was amazing and even stayed for a hour longer than they were supposed to. “Lady J”, the bartender, takes pride in her work, and is a pleasure. We’ll be back, that’s for sure!
Maybe the best hotel I have ever stayed out. The attention to detail was incredible.
First off, lobby staff is five star, the hotel has tremendous curb appeal, lobby has lovely historic vibe, fantastic location but the rooms are absolutely not five star. Rooms are maybe three stars at best. Tired, dingy, stained carpets, bathrooms that look like they were last renovated in the 80’s (see pic of tun and TV above it!). Sofa in suite is terribly worn and dirty. Flood lights from building next door are so bright they filter through the dated drapes. Carpets are so dirty I wouldn’t walk barefoot on them - and they don’t provide slippers. Or drinking water in room.! Weird, empty dorm frig just plugged into wall. Filthy monitors or something plugged in each room (see pic). Place has a musty smell. I looked online and read that this hotel was last renovated in 2017 but no way they did the guest rooms that recently. Hotel has amazing potential, and would be workable as a three star, but absolutely not a five star. If that’s what you’re looking for you’ll be terribly disappointed with the room.
I recently had a reservation concern that was masterfully handled by the staff at the Windsor Arms Hotel. With much gratitude, I especially appreciate how skillfully the manager, Jacob, resolved my query. Jacob was very patient, incredibly kind and highly professional. The politeness of all the staff with whom I spoke, and Jacob’s attentive leadership, exemplifies best practices in quality customer service. Thank you very much for resolving my concern in such a professional, courteous and timely manner. I wish all the staff at the beautiful Windsor Arms Hotel a very happy and safe Holiday Season.
We loved Mo who helped us with everything!
The staff was nice. The pool was great. The rooms were fine.
The rooms need to be cleaned better as well as the carpets. It needs a lot of renovating. Carpets are stained, bathroom floors are stained and not clean under the sinks. Had to recall every time for one of our vehicles as it was never ready.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by the most wonderful door person, Peter. He was amazing in his energy and enthusiasm. Front desk staff were very attentive and professional. Room was an excellent size and hotel was really quiet and comfortable. You cannot beat the location. It's the place to be for exploring the city.
Given the reputation and location of the Windsor Arms Hotel, facilities and rooms are a bit dated. Hotel and pool area (that was one of the facilities we used) requires a renovation and refresh.
Carole at the front desk was very helpful in booking the room and making our stay very pleasant. The hotel is a throwback of incredible charm and quirky luxury. The service is old school and professional. A wonderful boutique hotel that is full of luxury and charm
We had a lovely stress free stay here.
We stayed here for the Eras Tour, every detail was perfection. The staff were warm and friendly, the suite was large and comfortable, and the room service was fast and delicious. We did not have time to check out the spa or pool but I wish we had. The jacuzzi tub made up for it a bit.
What a great stay. Jake at the front desk was so helpful and knowledgable during our stay, my sister wanted a photo with him before we left! The hotel room was beautiful and the high tea and food at Gatsby was amazing. The service was impeccable. We will be back!
Staff members were very friendly and helpful
The property was wonderful. Service from the day we made our reservation till check in was perfect. We will definately be back. Thank you so much!!!!
This was a beautiful place! The rooms were large and lovely. The food was good. The service was impeccable.
Had the best stay here!!! It was a beautiful hotel and the customer service was excellent. It’s walking distance to shopping and food. Our kids LOVED the tea room!!!
Great location, very interesting hotel, wonderful restaurant, and good food. I'm giving 100 stars for the saltwater pool—amazing! It's one of the best I've used in North America. The water is so warm, making it perfect for cold Toronto nights. However, the room was not as clean as expected for a five-star hotel. There were dust clumps in the closet, and overall, it didn't have a 'clean' smell. The bathroom could definitely use an update, with an old sink, a cracked countertop, and cracked flooring. However, The shower is good, with strong water pressure.
The food was expensive at the hotel. The tea was lovely. The breakfast took too long (30 minutes) to come out and was pricey.
The way Booking.com handled transferring me to this hotel
The staff at the Windsor Arms Hotel were exceptional! They were attentive to all our needs and treated us like family. We can honestly say that it was the best experience! We will be back!
The hotel staff was absolutely amazing. We stayed in two different types of rooms. Very clean needs some upgrades/fixes in the junior suite we stayed in. The deluxe suite was in great condition. They added extra touches like complimentary champagne, homemade cookies/macaroons and fresh flowers. Has a cute tea room for breakfast and a Gatsby bar for drinks :) Would recommend.
For the price of this hotel it was not as clean and efficient as cheaper hotels. Very run down in some areas - carpets full of stains, gross bathroom that needs work (clean cocking, paint etc) Room service very slow - outrageous prices. Promised a themed tea party and it not done - again the price was crazy for what we got. People nice that worked there, especially in the breakfast room.
The experience was 5*. I found the British and traditional style quite refreshing from modern hotels. The experience was very, very nice. They had my luggage put in the room. They gave me a tour of the property. It was a small bottle of Prosecco in my room to enjoy. Some cookies were delivered in the evening. I found the entire experience very very, relaxing and sophisticated. I would highly recommend this property.
Staff are excellent. The hotel is a small gem. It has a lovely intimacy about it. The rooms are very high quality. The only downside is that if you are looking for a top-flight gym/spa facility, this isn't the place to go. It's a place to go for a quiet romantic stay in the city. Also, the TV package sucks. Does it really cost that much to bring in SportsNet and a higher quality cable service?
I recently stayed at this hotel and had an absolutely terrible experience. First of all, the check-in process was a nightmare. The staff seemed completely disorganized and unprepared to properly communicate and resolve issues, leading us to "figure it out." Their so-called "Continental breakfast" was a complete joke. The options were extremely limited (muffin, croissant, and coffee); to make matters worse, there were flies around the food. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable for a so-called "luxury hotel." The staff at this hotel were extremely rude, which was evident in their attitudes. As we waited for our room, I wanted to explore the perimeters of the hotel, but they had most of the area secluded for a wedding later on that day; as I attempted to walk, one of the receptionists yelled at me from the other side of the room like I was committing a crime. I felt absolutely disrespected (they could have come at me and respectfully explained that this part of the hotel was reserved for later). Next, I went to the second store of the hotel, where I was followed by a footman, making the whole experience even more unpleasant. As if that wasn't bad enough, the cleanliness of the hotel was appalling. The carpets, sofa, and shower were all dirty and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. It was absolutely revolting to call this place a 5-star hotel. To top it all off, I received no room service; I left a "service please" sign at the door without success, I had to request towels (sandpapers) before going to an event and request service face to face to someone at the guest service. We made complaint through our concierge, but the hotel management cannot care less. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a complete disaster from start to finish.
The property had a very unique eclectic old world charm. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It’s a hidden gem!
We had a perfect getaway night. Our suite was luxurious and comfy, the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. What a gem.
Everything excellent!
First, advice: do a walk thru of the mini bar with staff & document it at the beginning of your stay. Second, the hotel decor is very charming, our suite beautiful if just a little run down—a lived in feeling— the spa after hours for guests was a dream. Included breakfast pastries and turndown cookies, delicious—now my favorite cookies ever. The spa services including massage and the little salt cave totally worth it. Tip-if you turn off the salt lamp it's as dark as a sensory deprivation chamber or a real cave. The only downside is that we were charged for the minibar which we did not use and which they said we would not be charged for as we left. They reversed the charges eventually. Tip 2-Since they do not know how this happened, I don't know how they'll stop it from happening again. I'd definitely enjoy the hotel again, but take precautions to not risk random charges.
One of the finest hotel stays ever, excellent property, excellent service, great location
Elegant! Beautiful room, comfy bed.
I ordered room service breakfast, paid for a pot a coffee and did not receive it. That was really disappointing because I didn’t have time to cash down again.
Stayed there celebrating my daughter's wedding at Casa Loma....it was only 8 minutes away... extremely convenient. Staff at front desk very friendly
Staff was very helpful and kind. Room was very clean and was walkable to the downtown core.
