Camere essenziali, funzionali e comodissime. Servizio bar eccellente. La posizione è leggermente decentrata dal centro del villaggio, ci si impiegano 10-12 minuti a piedi. Per noi na ha costituto alcun problema, anzi lo abbiamo apprezzato perché piú riservato.

Middagen tirsdag 28.07.2026 var en skuffelse. Vi hadde gledet oss veldig og bestilte kongekrabbe. Den var tørr og seig og overdynget med urter/krydder. Kjente ikke krabbesmak og porsjonen var ikke større enn at det såvidt ble nok på en skive brød. Forrett og dessert var ok, men ikke mer enn det. Et overpriset måltid. Valgte å ikke spise flere middager på hotellet under oppholdet.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026La Funken Lodge è decisamente uno degli hotel più belli, se non il più bello, delle Svalbard. L'atmosfera è bellissima, magica. Ci sono molti spazi comuni dove leggere e rilassarsi. Lo staff è gentilissimo e aiuta anche nel prenotare escursioni (anche se consiglio di prenotarle prima di arrivare, perchè molte si riempiono alla svelta). Noi abbiamo prenotato in loco l'escursione per vedere i puffin ed è stata veramente eccezionale.
Mi è piaciuto tutto. Forse l'unica cosa che potrebbe essere migliorata è il numero di biciclette messe a disposizione. Sono solo 3 e bisogna affrettarsi a prenderle, perchè non c'è un vero e proprio sistema di prenotazione. Noi ci siamo riusciti una mattina presto e andare in giro per Longyearbyen in bicicletta (fra l'altro con pedalata assistita, quindi facilissimo) è un'esperienza che veramente consiglio

Our room had problems with lamps/light bulbs. They got lit up by themselves several times which was disturbing during the night. Breakfast could have had more variety. It's a pricey hotel and I'd expect an airport transfer to be included in the rate 😁

Il manque une terrasse extérieure car quand il fait beau ce serait agréable un espace extérieur. On ne peut pas moduler le chauffage.

Sauna did not open til noon. breakfast buffet was so-so. Overall temperature was too hot so I was sweating most of the time inside. Location was a bit of a hike to town which would be ok in better weather. Really expensive for not having a full spa or better breakfast.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026Loved that hotel. Very charming decoration, amazing staff from the reception to the restaurant, and the view from the breakfast / dining room is simply breathtaking. Food in general is very nice! Don’t miss an evening in the restaurant. If you decide to go the upper price segment hotels in Longyearbyen (so not the hostels with shared bathroom) I would always recommend Funkenlodge before the other options in Spotzbergen :)
Sauna was always nice warmed, but small without windows.

The prices are mad high. Almost 400kr for a sandwich. Or 2600kr for a steak is insane, especially when its slightly above mediocre good. The bathroom floor was ice cold, no heating. The showe glass was leaking onto said cold bathroom floor. There was no shower curtain or door either, so water was spilling out from the shower.

The location was perfect for exploring Longyearbyen, but what really stood out was the breakfast; they offered great vegan options, which made the mornings much easier. Everything from the service to the atmosphere was top-notch—highly recommended for anyone visiting Svalbard

They even had an aurora homepage for guests where you can sign up to get reminders if they show up. 😍 We totally plan on coming back again!
