Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The staff were great, the room secure and clean. Had all required facilities and also a fridge.
The bar wasn’t open whenever I tried to go there. Was a little dated and some bit could do with freshening up.
Not great
Slow service
Close to a Tim’s,Gas, convenience. Jungle Jim’s next door. Easy access on TCH. Perfect place to stay while in town to see Come From Away!
Property ok. Prefer mattress to be fully enclosed in a mattress cover but mattress was ok!
The beds were comfortable and friendly staff.
It was expensive.
Nothing!
Breakfast was good. Too many fried potatoes.
Service was a bit slow.
Staff very accomodating for us, we have mobility issues, but we still had to take a few stairs to get to our rooms.
Room very stuffy, opened window, screen torn. People smoking close to the hotel by the rear entrance ( not 30 m), even during the night, smoke coming into room.Bed very high, hard for someone with mobility issues to get on. Hot water was scalding! You had to be careful when using! We were in town for Come From Away, as were a lot of other people, suspect the rates may have been adjusted a bit.
Close to airport
Clean, friendly and good location
We had to wait 2 hours for check in.
Very friendly staff, who very kindly stored our luggage for us whilst we continued our trip.
Very nice for price point. Comfy beds. Just didn’t have any hand soap in bathroom which I found odd. Probaly a housekeeping mistake.
No soap.
did not have breakfast
the rooms were dank and outdated. dined at the restaurant and the food was disappointing in taste and freshness.
Lovely staff, comfortable bed, clean room.
Location on the Highway near the Airport
Because of the nature of the hotel design we needed to use the side door. The area outside and inside the side door was never cleaned up or the carpet vacumed.
Clean and tidy and front desk staff were friendly.
Pet friendly
Out dated..
In such a small town it was great to find a very nice hotel. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you are inside it is basically a conference hotel with nice rooms, restaurant and very friendly staff. the location was convenient to Come From Away and other amenities like hiking trails were minutes away.
Everything
The food was delicious! Breakfast & dinner + dessert. Great staff- so friendly Great water pressure in the shower.
Unfortunate you can't open windows for air.
Location was central. Breakfast was excellent
Great breakfast restaurant.
A bit run-down in room.
We were only there for one night passing through. It was a stop on a road trip. We arrived late but were kindly welcomed by the staff. It was noisy when we arrived, however. By the time we went to sleep it was quiet. It was good enough for our needs. There were amenities open later which was handy as well.
It was very noisy and there were some very rude boys running around near our room, but other than that everything was fine. I should add that the noise stopped by the time we went to sleep.
Staff was welcoming. Location
Smelled smoke by the doors. The rugs needed a good vacuum.
Didn’t have the breakfast
Needs an update. Appears very dark. Also smell of smoke upon entrance and on first floor.
Cleanliness of the outside common area,I know it is a guest problem but some garbage cans were overflowing and cigarette butts on the ground just didn’t look right
Economical, good location
The halls were quite dirty
Close to restaurants
Staff allowed a guest to park a long trailer in front of several units taking up 5 parking spots ….not good !
Location
Decided to grab a quick shower when I got there only to notice a dried up facecloth on the top of the shower rail lol the shampoo they had well let’s say u would need a gallon for lather I decided to do the breakfast special the had for guest lol bad move the 8 hash browns and yes 8 were so burnt and crispy the over easy egg had to be torn apart couldn’t cut it the 3 sausages were as dry and burnt it was crazy the toast was fine I waited about 15 mins to pay the young bus girl asked if I was looking to pay I say yes she goes and gets my server she comes back either the machine to pay lunches it in passed it to me and leaves lol I was like what do I do Can I just take my copy I was in the first floor lol which was half underground I couldn’t open my curtains because there were guys outside smoking all the time Thier is more but tired of writing This is the first negitive review I have ever given on a work trip I will def never stay there again
Convenient location on main highway
Expensive for the location. Arrived at 3pm but could not check in until 4pm. Small beds.
Room just felt a bit outdated and a bit small.
Good stay, a very busy place with the come by away show in town
The room was clean but the hotel is not. It seems very overpriced, noisy and smelly.
The room was nice , the staff were great, food was great!
We had a double room booked, but we got upgraded to a suite. Thanks
Location was good and staff was nice
Our room was not ready for the 4pm check in and we had plans based on being able to check in at 4 and freshen up
Amazing place! Awesome service
Nothing to dislike
Albatross Hotel, Gander it was extremely dirty with garbage everywhere and the bins were overflowing. When you step into the hotel, it was extremely dated and you can tell is it not cared for wallpaper and carpets dirty). The carpets were dirty, with a combination of pebbles, pet hair, and candy wrappers on all of them and was not cleaned at all during our two day stay.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The service in the restaurant. We were seated at a table without menus, silverware or anything, then totally ignored for over 10 minutes at which point we just left. Staff passed several times and never acknowledged us, not even "be with you shortly". We decided that if it was taking that long without anything, it would probably be worse if we ever got a menu, had to wait to place an order, then wait again for food. We were there for breakfast but based on service, it might have taken until lunch to get done.
Close to everything
False advertising. Refused to book he one night stay and show. There was tickets and vacancy and answered my emails.
right on the highway, really easy access
a little old and dingy
The location was great, it is on the Trans Canada Hwy, a nice half way point to Deer Lake from St. John’s. Having restaurants close by gave us different options in dining. The Airplane museum close by was a bonus
Better maintenance would be good, our bathroom door wouldn’t close and the toilet seat was on crooked.
Staff was great , location was great
Our Room had a Broken Air Conditioner and it was extremely hot and humid
L'accueil.
the dining room too small for the hotel size, and understaffed
It was nice that they had a bar . And the breakfast was delish but a little pricey .
Little things .. however the AC way too loud . The carpets gotta go .
The staff was so kind ! And I loved being able to have my dog with us .
Nothing.
Lots of walking to the room
Well situated.
The way the receptionist was. She charged me $ 5 more than expected. On the principle it's not fair. She always took the credit cards (Chech in check out) and dialed the price before giving details on the total amount. We were on the 1st floor. The isolation is very bad. We could hear people above us.
Pet friendly. It was close to the TCH. Friendly staff. She went out of her way to give me a room with a door to the exterior for ease of taking my dog in and out.
Could use a refresh
I originally booked a single room with two beds but when I arrived, we were upgraded to a suite due to the hotel being fully-booked. The suite was really nice - my cousin and I essentially had our own rooms with a connecting door - essentially, our own bathrooms, TVs and sitting areas. The bed was a queen size and the pull-out couch, which was the other bed, was a double. The room was very clean and the bathrooms were modern with good temperature and water-pressure in the shower. Despite being on the main road, I found the room to be quiet and the temperature comfortable. There was also plenty of parking and the hotel is within walking distance to eateries if you don't want to drive into town for a meal.
When I asked about whether we could switch to a room with two beds, we were informed that the couch was a pull out. There was a heavy chair and coffee table in the way, which meant we would have to move those and then pull out the bed and then make up the bed ourselves. While I understand that the hotel was full, I expected the front desk to at least offer to have someone set up the bed. I had to mention that furniture had to be moved around before the clerk offered to send someone up to help me. And while the person who they sent was very helpful in moving the chair and the table, and pulling out the sofabed, they didn't offer to have someone set up the bed itself - they just told me where to find the linens. It was a not-so-great start to the stay but we were only there one night. Regardless, the staff were overall very pleasant and helpful.
Very good
Staff was friendly. Good was tasty
No clmplonrntary breakfast No ground floor room available
Location good, parking easy, restaurant on site. WiFi good. TV good. Beds comfortable. Quiet street noise.
The place is old and tired. No.luggage carts. Rooms small for price. Lights dim. Furniture old and uncomfortable. Some rooms had split bathrooms - sink and open closet storage on one side, toilet and shower on the other. Room.phone and alarm not working. HVAC v er y noisy - bring ear plugs. Staff trying but not enough of them. One hour to get breakfast. Cheap for Gander but overpriced for services provided. We will not stay here again.
This hotel is in a great location. Staff is very friendly. The breakfast (not included for us) was very good.
Things are a bit dated, but still comfortable. Restaurant was a bit understaffed and our wait time for breakfast was pretty long.
Clean and friendly. Many different places to eat all round hotel
Price is a little higher
The dinner was very bad
The beds were very comfortable
The room was small and only 1 comfy chair. Also the foyer and hallway were very dusty and ramped up my allergies. The only window we had was very dirty
Room is large.Could use an update on the shower head. Served my purpose
Unique
Hall floors need vacuum
Great location, very comfortable
Bien
Tout est ok
All good
All good
Right on the Trans Canada . Easy to find , ample parking .
.
.
Breakfast wonderful. Very friendly staff at front desk and in dining room.
Our bed sloped to the middle.
The staff were so kind and friendly. We just love the people of Gander.
Preis / Leistung ist sehr gut!
Dass wir ein Zimmer im Souterrain erhalten haben!
Convenient location
The beds in the room we were originally assigned were supposed to be double beds. We have never seen such small double beds. There were 3 people in our party. There is no way 2 people could sleep on one of those beds. Thankfully we were moved to a room with actual double beds.
Great location for our stay. Room was adequate. Visited restaurant for breakfast - service was quick and friendly.
The staff was friendly. Bar area/ lounge was nice. Room was okay
Not very clean. Trash all around the doors outside. Spilled food in halfway. Whent to resturant an ad vegans we got the vegetable noodles. It was drowned in so much sauce it looked like soup. Sauce was very strong tasting an veggies were oddly diced for stir fry. After chatting with the bartender that night she said their should be vegan options. To start with just coffee their was no alternative option for milk. No oat, almond, cashew, or even soy. Very unfortunate for anyone who can't have cows milk. An the only menu option was fruit. Which the breakfast was not even included Very nosey geust all around us.
Close to the highway
Little expensive, no counter space in bathroom
Emplacement
Location was good is all I can say about this place
Dated, stains in rug, no room service. Toilet was plugged when we arrived the first night. Next day after our return beds not made, no clean towels, bathroom not cleaned, no coffee for the next morning. The beds in even sag! Was told they only clean rooms every second day. Well in that case you check on the towels , coffee and towels at least. Disgusting!!!!!!
Right off the TCH
One light was broke
Unique floor plan Good pillows Staff were very pleasant
Dated/tired furnishings Construction noise outside next door started at 7 am View from the window was horrible, empty lot of piles of dirt and mud The old carpets give me allergies
It was convenient It was clean
The room was stuffy and no mini fridge very few plugs Could not even plug in the coffee maker
need a kettle to make sa cup of tea. also need a microwave.
Great access off the highway
Breakfast was great and really well priced
The hotel is old and dated …. Please clean under the beds !
Location and services
The price could be a bit pricey in the summer.
Breakfast was good, especially at the senior rate! The front desk staff was especially helpful and informative. Your location was ideal for our needs.
Everything was fine.
Decided not to use breakfast value coupon, as went to dinner and was totally disappointed worst meal of our holiday , big mistake thinking the offered Roast beef dinner was prime rib, poor very overdone cut slices of beef, not a quality good cut of beef, your bad waitress was excellent, no reflection on gratuity to her , she was best part of visit to your establishment, 175.00 bill with tip ?????
Serve better quality and fresh beef at your prices should have been minimum great cut of beef If not Prime rib We should have been sharper As we were only family in the restaurant, with one other couple , would appreciate being contacted for your considered resolution!
When I booked thought I was booking with the hotel directly. Their price was $150 a night breakfast included we paid (senior rate) $250 a night no breakfast. We r seniors no too familiar with technology felt taken advantage of. Very in happy with booking.com!!!!!
traveled with a buddy. both of us on motorcycles, hotel location was excellant for us travelling by. we visited the air museum across the street. then the local legion and Ledgens. everything with in walking distance and i just had gotten new Knees (both TKR) and i walked there no problems.. staff we talked to were professional .
all good
Didn't have Breakfast, location was good!
Found food under our bed, from previous guest!
Location is great. The staff were friendly.
Property needs updating. The bed frame is too large for the bed and could take out someone’s shin if they weren’t careful. There were sharp metal pieces about 12 inches long coming from the frame. There was snow clearing outside of my hotel window from 1am until close to 5am. I called the front desk at 430 to ask for another room away from the noise and lights of the plows. Not the hotels fault but they were unable to place me anywhere else due to renos occurring in other parts of the building. My daughter was having surgery at 8am and we did not get any sleep prior to going.
The staff are very friendly, and the location is very convenient.
Maybe can have two bottles of water in the room would be better.
Great and friendly front desk service
My room (221) was dusty, TV was blurry and made a click noise, only one outlet accessible (bathroom). By accident drop my wallet in the back of the tv furniture and saw that was so dusty and a collection of items as well, seems that never has been vacuum, no wonder the smell when enter the room. And water in the shower had a strange smell
Location
Dirty room and very out dated
Big rooms
Hotel is out od date beds to high for short people
Worth every penny!
Complimentary breakfast would be a nice thing to have included to make up for the aging infrastructure.
I was very disappointed that in between my 2 nights stay the room was not cleaned. Not even so much as making the bed and replacing the towels.
Spent a perfect evening at this location after a long motorcycle ride. The price was excellent. The room spacious and clean and the comp breakfast was perfect. The bed was especially comfy after a long day on two wheels.
Great good
Cleaner accommodations
We were passing through Gander and needed a convenient place to lay our head for the night. The Albatross was exactly that. The staff were great and the hotel wasn't far from anything.
