Shower not great, overhead spray very sharp on the skin to the point of being uncomfortable, hand spray very slow water flow, no indication which valve direction was hot or cold. Also we had breakfast at 9:30 by which time all the "hot" food was cold

Beautiful setting and superb rooms with a lovely balcony overlooking the grounds. Big car park no problem parking. Shuttle service to Hensol Castle which is awesome. The staff were excellent

Had a real retreat feel away from the hustle and bustle. Staff were great. Pool area was lovely, food lovely. Stunning location. Lovely timings to use pool facilities on check in and out day.

Nothing I didnt like but things that were pool area got quite busy and v slippy!! Restaurant quite small. But nothing to spoil the stay at all. Left relaxed and refreshed.

This hotel is part of a large sporting complex. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Our room was lovely with a wonderful bathroom and nice view over the grounds. The bed was large and very comfortable. All of the staff we met were professional, friendly and helpful. The evening meal was great and the buffet style breakfast was excellent. We would suggest booking the evening meal as some people who hadn't booked could not get a table. A great stay.

Some may find the size of the complex too big if you prefer small, less corporate hotels.

The restaurant. The food was amazing. There is no bad dish in the menu.

The breakfast buffet was good and the afternoon spa very relaxing.

Reception staff slow to allocate our room on check in. Not very welcoming. Not happy with our room. Our bathroom had footprints on the floor ( which weren’t ours) and my daughter’s room had many dark hairs in the bathroom on arrival. The noise of fans coming from the bathroom was disturbing. It was 11.30 when we checked in so too late to change rooms, make a fuss… We waited for a promised shuttle bus after a wedding party at Hensol castle but none appeared.

The staff were rude -I was ignored by two women after breakfast they were busy at the coffee machines doing nothing so important but choose to deliberately ignore me for ages when I just wished to ask for a green teabag!

Great pool and comfortable beds

Hôtel bien situé. Petit déjeuner très varié et copieux. Chambre et lit confortable.

Personnel vraiment peu accueillant, accueil très froid et impersonnel lors de notre arrivée notamment. (Exception: Femme de ménage et cuisinier/petit déjeuner très aimables et polis.) Lors notre retour pour notre dernière nuit, impossible d'entrer dans la chambre car clé désactivée : à l'accueil elle a donc réactivé la carte mais aucune explication et aucune excuse pour le dérangement.... Nous avons mangé au bar le 1er soir mais repas très décevant (le moins bon de nos vacances) et surtout salle très trop bruyante! Bref nous avons préféré manger ailleurs les autres soirs. Dans la salle de bains nous aurions préféré une douche, baignoire très haute difficile à enjamber ( Je déconseille aux personnes âgées. ) Dernier point très décevant, l'hôtel dispose d'un très beau parc qu'on pouvait voir de notre balcon mais... quand nous avons voulu nous y promener : grosse déception ! Accès interdit, autorisé aux golfeurs uniquement ! !!

Very nice, clean, spacious room. Enormous bed. Effective air conditioning during very hot weather. Breakfast was exceptional.

Pillows were a little lumpy, and there was a whirring noise somewhere making it difficult to get to sleep.

Breakfast had long queues and the food wasn’t great. Omelette was appalling it was dry with one slice of tomato and a small sprinkling of cheese. I would go as far as to say it was inedible. For the rest of the stay we ate breakfast outside of the vale even though it was included in the price.

Lovely place pool and spa lovely the breakfast was delicious.Rooms very spacious and the air-conditioning was great as it was extremely hot.Lovely place to be especially in summer.

One thing I would say is that there is only one toilet in the bar area and it was very busy as football was on. I got caught short with lady issues and there was no toilet roll and a lady said she had already told them that 45 minutes prior.1 hour later there was still none. On the Sunday the pool had to close early as they said was no chlorine left in there and it was,really hot so was a bit let down by this.Also ran out ice on the Saturday night.

The balcony was a nice touch, however you’re sharing with the next room (found that weird). Pool and hot tubs were ok.

Room wasn’t ready for 3pm, unprofessional in my opinion, staff we found not very helpful quite arrogant, cleaners need a word with, they’re lazy .. plenty of dirt missed in our room (31) like under the coffee table, balcony was minging, coffee table in the foyer had crumbs all over it, same as in the day time lunch area. Table cleared of dishes but not cleaned down, fag nips and empty plastic cups outside where the sun loungers are by the pool too and all old leaves, couldn’t go in the pool to wait while they did our room because they had run out of clean towels, not enough towels in the room either if you use them for when you go down to the pool you haven’t got a set for after a bath once you’ve been swimming. Food was overpriced and not the best.

La chambre était immense et la literie très confortable. L'hôtel est de bonne facture et mérite ses 4 étoiles. L'une des serveuses du restaurant a été extrêmement serviable et a assuré un excellent accueil (et ce n'était pas les deux " chefs d'équipe" a vestes noires qui nous ont bien reçu !)

Le personnel de l'accueil est hautain et prend la clientèle de haut. Il ne faut pas confondre accueillir avec distinction et professionnalisme et faire preuve d'obséquiosité. Idem en salle sauf 1 serveuse qui a sauvé le niveau.

Bright, spacious immaculately presented hotel is the most picturesque of surroundings. Rooms immaculately presented. Separate shower and generous size bath for an evening soak before bed. Spa, fitness suite and swimming pool again all to fabulous standard. Could not fault our stay. I will most definately be returning.

During busy times long wait for evening meals (up to 1 hour) but quality of food was well worth the wait!

Staff very helpful and friendly. It seems like the kind of place that would be selective but it was actually full of locals and down to earth. We visited for 5 days and felt very at home The pool and gym are excellent. A couple of jacuzzis, a steam room and sauna plus a nice sun bathing area made our stay seem like a spa treat. The breakfast was excellent.

There were parts of the hotel that could do with an update. Our bed side lamp was missing and the other one was all bashed up but they replaced it. Our bath panel had water damage. We only had one tea spoon and there were no glasses or anywhere to put your toothbrush in the bathroom. There was also no fridge so we couldn't keep our snacks or drinks cool. All just little things that were not deal breakers but made it seem like cost cutting was going on.

I travel for work at least once a month and this is the best hotel breakfast buffet I've had in a long time.

Finding our room was a little bit of a maze. The gym and spa facilities are actually part and shared with a commercial gym, so you'll have non-hotel guests in there with you which means at times the pool will be busy/closed for lessons etc. No slippers or robes provided makes it a bit awkward getting back to your room after a dip, so remember to pack accordingly.

When we arrived at 11am they didn’t mention any issues with our room booking, I followed up with an email via booking.com reminding them we’d be having to check in late as we had plans just for them to know we’d not be a no show. To be rung at 8 pm and then advised they’d given our room away is poor service, spoiled the night!!! Managed to get us into another hotel, but our car and belongings are in the vale! Complete shambles, lost trust, no regard to the fact we’d booked months ago, allowing people that had booked after us to stay ??? Doesn’t make sense apart from fact they don’t care about their customers welfare or circumstances. Complaint was logged with pheobi, I’m interested to see how they resolve this, this will determine what star hotel this place really is.

The room was a mobility accessible room, didn't request. Window doors looking out on to car park/entrance, for £200;, a nice modern room with a view I expect. The hotel has no wow factor, bar area is rubbish, out side seating is bare . Imo they should do some research see what others are doing, and raise there game. I think they just want to host the big events for the big bucks

Room a little cold

The Executive Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. The only downside was the lack of any USB-A or USB-C charging sockets. It's the first hotel I've stayed in for years where I've actually needed to use my own USB plug. We were allocated the end room, which came with a balcony. While this was a nice feature, the balcony isn't secure, as guests from the neighbouring room can simply walk across, which didn't provide much privacy or security.

Unfortunately, the service from the staff didn't match the standard we've experienced at other hotels. Interactions felt quite impersonal, with no greeting on arrival or departure, and no simple "Good morning" or "How was your stay?" Unless you made the effort to engage first, there was very little interaction, which made the atmosphere feel less welcoming. Breakfast was another disappointment. Having stayed at Marriott, Hilton and even Premier Inn hotels, I have to say they all offer a considerably better breakfast experience. The sausages were very small and heavily seasoned, as were the potatoes. The bacon wasn't particularly enjoyable, and the coffee was underwhelming—I genuinely make a better cup at home with my own coffee machine. It's a shame because the hotel itself has a lot going for it, but the service and breakfast let the overall experience down.

Slightly out of town, taxi into Cardiff is £30. It would be ideal if the hotel had a shuttle but now I'm nitpicking.

Thank you for upgrading me to a really nice room and pre-cooling it during this hot weather. Really appreciated the attention to detail. All other wine left for me.

Literally the only criticism was that the breakfast was not a good as last time i visited. Still ok and your chef did me some poached eggs but bacon and beans seemed poorer quality than before

We stayed here to be close to a venue for a family wedding. The facilities were amazing as you would expect on a golf resort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They ran a minibus service which saved us getting Ubers.

That toiletries were in squeezy bottles and not accessible as bolted to the walls . I realise this is to stop theft but as someone who has arthritis in my hands very frustrating…

Superb, beautiful location. Every staff member I had contact with was truly excellent. Honestly couldn't have asked for a more helpful and friendly bunch of people. I don't know if it is policy, but it seemed that the hotel was supportive of the local community, in terms of giving opportunity to the locals (including youngsters). I am looking forward to my next visit - it was a real treat.

It was all excellent. In my ideal world, I would have had air conditioning throughout the bar areas, to the same high standard as the bedrooms. Honestly though, I have nothing serious to complain about. Btw, I stayed there on a day that was 34C!

My first visit to The Vale and I couldn’t have been more impressed. The room was incredible in terms of its size, modern decor, huge bed, wonderful bathroom, and effective working air-con at the warmest time of year. The staff are first class and food extremely pleasant and not overpriced. I will not hesitate to stay there again and look forward to when I can.
