The food was superb. The spa was amazing. All staff were amazing. The room was spotless.

Well priced and well specified hotel. Treats in the room for returning guests, well designed rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent.
The restaurant was closed so the bar food was good, but from a very limited menu. Additional charge for using external amenities.
Aesthetically pleasing and so relaxing. The staff are highly trained and nothing is too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed
That you have to pay extra for the outside jacuzzi pool - that’s a bit greedy
Very good
Bedroom was on the very top of hotel with lots of low beams and my husband kept bumping his head as he is tall
Beautiful hotel So clean and staff friendly Very classy
Can’t use outside hot tub after 6 or book a treatment The pool is a relaxation pod so not swimming but was beautiful
This place is just absolutely superb. Such a romantic setting. The staff are so pleasant and attentive. The room was just beautiful. Spotlessly clean and set up with balloons, rose petals, a sweet treat and swan towels for my boyfriends birthday. I cant recommend this place enough. The BLOK restaurant was exceptional. The food was to die for. My boyfriend had a complimentary glass of prosecco for his birthday. I didnt use the spa facilities because the times included with our stay coincided with our evening meal and check out time. Apart from that this place is a no brainer
Stylish, super friendly and helpful staff. Stunning spa- just something special about this place!
Suite was stylish and comfortable. Spa was tranquil and great treatments.
Such lovely staff, rooms were amazing and food was something else!

Excellent and relaxing

The hotel is beautifully presented . BLOK restaurant service and food was exceptional.

It was excellent in the every way. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the hotel was really nice

Immaculately clean hotel. Well done Housekeeping staff. All staff very pleasant & obliging. Attention to detail in decor impressive
Loved the boutique hotel feel. We have a Therapy dog and my partner has some health conditions, which is why we were kindly upgraded. The room was lovely, bright stylish and clean. Really liked the small salty water pool and sauna, very relaxing.. Makes a change to a chlorinated pool. A beautiful oasis just outside of Cardiff.
Loved the breakfast, which was worth every penny. As I don't eat red meat the lunch menu was very limited for me. Partner enjoyed the beef thou.
Staff, food, pool and sauna was all excellent.
Nothing.
Pyszne dania, kolacja na 5 gwiazdek. Czysto. Dużo dodatków typu ciasteczka, kawa, herbata, płyny do mycia ciała.
Lovely room, spa area and vitality pool were also very good.
We ate at the Blok restaurant for Sunday dinner. A bone was left in the rib starter, gravy in main was also too salty. There was also no where to get food for the evening. Only Sunday dinner option!
Hotel was lovely , staff were fantastic. Food was lovely. Great experience. They looked after us really well. Would recommend it for sure.
Wife said the bed was a bit hard , breakfast was a bit expensive, so we didn't have it . Indoor pool could do with a few more sunbeds.
The hotel itself is very beautiful. Also the food was good in the Blok restaurant. And breakfast was lovely within the garden setting.
The spa facilities were poor and expensive. Residents have limited times which I was very disappointed about as was looking forward to relaxing but we had to wait until 5pm. Which then left us with not much time to enjoy as we had dinner booked. Having paid for a room you would expect you can use all spa facilities at any time. Not an additional £25 per person to use a jacuzzi outdoors and for a limited time. Seating is poor as mostly bean bags on the floor. With a disability this is not good enough. The changing rooms have no private changing facilities. The rooms are not the best in terms of noise. You can hear everything from above rooms. Creaky floors and loud tvs.
Lovely building and spa , restaurant was outstanding
No air con and the room was way too hot , everything else was great
Everything
Could have done with more milk in the room other then that everything was fine
Breakfast was great but was not included in the price which I thought it was. Had to pay £40 extra I was also looking forward to using the outdoor jacuzzi. However this was only open for an hour and was an extra £25 each! I wouldn’t stay again due to all the unforeseen costs The bed was comfy and I loved the spa robe and slippers in our room The bathroom was huge!
Extra costs. Was told I would get champagne and cake for another extra cost £20 (it was my 40th) but this was only some balloons and a tiny desert in the end. Cleaner was very grumpy No door on the bathroom
Beautiful building and setting. Spacious comfortable room. Good restaurant and bar area. Staff friendly and helpful. Spa beautiful outside and good treatments.
We were there when the weather was very hot. Air conditioning would have been great.
Everything! Especially the food. Sunday lunch was fenomenal. The spa was wonderful and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The lady who served our breakfast was very cheerful and a pleasure to speak too. A very relaxing 2 days and the weather was glorious to be able to dine outside and use the jacuzzi. We had a deluxe room with a standing bath looking out with pleasing views.
Our stay Would have been that much better if there was air conditioning in the rooms.
Parking was insufficient
The decor is fabulous
Not being informed that there was a wedding and that it was busy and chaotic.
Property was lovely and clean
Payed for a deluxe room only to be put into the only wheelchair accessible room which was not required, the wet room was a major let down as this was not communicated at all. Felt as if I was in a hospital room. Not as advertised on the website.
Bonnie-Rae, our server was attentive and friendly! She ensured we had the best experience at the Blok restaurant, which was fantastic! We had the Porterhouse with a variety of sides, and the apple crumble was divine!
Visited the spa today with three friends to celebrate a birthday. The building itself is beautiful and is the star of the show. We arrived early for our Spa day and ordered coffee while we waited , the young man behind the bar suggested we have tea instead as we wouldn’t have time for him to make the coffee and for us to drink them. This is what customer service is all about ,he thought about our needs before we did. Ww were collected from the bar by the spa receptionist who was delightful and showed us the changing area and where everything was. Our treatments were very good and very professional. The spa area itself is amazing and as the times are staggered you are the only people using the pool which is a refreshing change to other Spa’s where you are fighting for a recliner. No children are allowed in until after 6 and hotel guests have to pay to use the facilities this makes it a little oasis if calm. The brunch was also delicious both buffet and menu selections with fruit juice ,tea and coffee included. All the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. Highly recommended and can’t wait to go back for an overnight stay.
The welcome we received as returning guests was a nice surprise
Bar food not available on a sunday
The hotel itself is stunning, the blok restaurant is outstanding. However it was very disappointing to learn that you have to pay to use the pool outside £25 each, I’ve never been to hotel where you pay additional fees to use the facilities. The two bar male staff that also served us on the Sunday night and Monday morning were also incredibly rude and stood out so much more due to the rest of the staff being so kind and accommodating. Also never been to a spa hotel where you cannot dine in the robes provided, interesting!! Beautiful hotel but slightly spoiled by the rude bar men and added extras of the outstanding pool!
Went to this hotel for one night to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade our room. I can only describe the experience as extremely enjoyable, the staff were very polite and professional, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Exceptional! A rare gem of a find.
Celebrated my sisters 30th birthday here and we had a great time! Every member of staff were so helpful, polite and welcoming. The food was really good too, especially breakfast. The handwritten card and sweet treat left for my sister was a really nice touch. We can’t wait to come back!
We had a lovely night's stay at Lanelay. It was a Monday evening, so we got a great-priced room, and check-in was smooth. The pool great. Would be nice to have been able to use the jacuzzi free of charge as a paying guest- it was an additional £25 PP, which didn't seem worth it. The Bar food and drinks were delicious, and lovely evening atmosphere out on the terrace area. The room was massive and the bed very comfy, though a little dusty and I would have loved a bath. Overall, very enjoyable and one of the nicer spa hotels I've been to.
Breakfast was good staff at breakfast Ellen and Kiara were super both definite assets. Room was unbearably hot, insufficient fans, small, cupboard for hanging clothes was too dark, could not do safe and the hanging pole was more than 6 ft high my wife could not hang clothes as she could not reach. Shower only ran hot they tried to fix but to no avail. Should have moved us. Otherwise room was well furnished. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. I went to compliment chefs on duty
As stated the room was small, totally lack sufficient air con. Shower absolutely useless, some staff lacked customer skills. On Sunday one pair of customers continually swearing and people around could hear the F word often. Not necessary if you can speak English. Respect other people.
Excellent breakfast
A wonderful venue with warm and welcoming staff that couldn't do enough for us. The room was clean and comfortable, the facilities were unique and inviting, and the food was excellent. A touch of local luxury with a surprisingly affordable price tag.
Here to celebrate graduation, outstanding service from Jared and Ashley throughout the whole evening. We were a very large group and ordered lots of food and drinks
Jared and Ashley were top marks in their service
We went for my mothers graduation and Jared and Ashley were amazing!! Their hospitality was brilliant! And they couldn’t do enough for us! Thank you both so much! Xx
There was a big group of us celebrating and Jared and Ashley on the bar were absolutely amazing so accommodating and couldn’t have been more helpful. 10/10 for the staff tonight👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well presented and tastefully decorated property.
No air con !! Paying the prices they charge I think it could be a good investment.
Just stayed as part of a Christmas gift,. Beautiful hotel, deco and vibe very boutique. Used the pool area after 5pm as part of the deal. No access granted to the outside plunge pool, as this is extra charge - £25 per person for 1 hour , ridiculous and disappointing, especially as it was deserted, such a shame. Dinner service was very good, food very good not 100percent my thing, but obviously high standard. Over priced, Breakfast was absolutely lovely in a beautiful setting. Service there was excellent, sadly wouldn't return as there are alot of hidden charges,
The hotel decor and general feel was excellent. Room was spacious and bathroom was very nice
It was a freakishly hot weekend so the rooms were very warm, even with two tower fans placed either side of the bed
Amazing stay at Lanelay Hall. Beautifully designed rooms and hotel. Delicious food. I have stayed twice and will be coming back.
Nothing
I chose to stay at Lanelay hall for a break away to cardiff with my sister. The whole hotel was absolutely stunning, and service was fab. They very kindly upgraded our room to a deluxe suite and I don't think we've ever stayed in a more luxury room - two floors with a huge comfy bed, sofa and a lovely bathroom upstairs with a freestanding tub and shower, and a walk in closet 😍. The room has everything you could need - range of toiletries, bottled water and a tea tray with a large selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and nice biscuits. Dionne did a lovely job of preparing our room for us, it was spotless. We didn't opt for the breakfast however the bar and dining areas were beautiful. The indoor pool which guests have access to at certain times of the day was lovely too, very peaceful. I will definitely be returning to this fabulous hotel in the future.
Very well equipped hotel. Nicely appointed interior. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great restaurant.
More comfortable sitting room area for residents. Deeper pool.
Although they gave us an upgrade at no extra cost. The air conditioning unit was just outside our window, and a little constantly noisy. Mattress a little too firm for our liking.
Staff polite , friendly and very professional.
Can not think of any fault to be honest
Lovely property refurbished to a high standard
I wouldn’t call the spa facilities a spa, the pool is extremely shallow-charging a lot extra to use the outside spa bath is a bit cheeky.
Absolutely out of this world
Absolutely nothing i didn't want to leave
The staff were ok ( not super helpful !) and the country was dealing with a heatwave so they did give us two fans but because the windows don’t open all the way we were still dying of heat !! ( we’ve since been to other hotels that have portable AC units ) so this can be rectified ! We think the hotel was wrong to sell the place as a resort and spa but tell us we can only use the pool indoors to cool down in such heat because they sold out day passes to other people to use the spa ! This is NOT RIGHT! To pay that money and only be able to use from7-10 am or after 5 pm !! So we spent that day away ! And that is not great service ! The restaurant BLOK … food was exceptional and we throughly enjoyed our dinner - the steaks were really really great ! The rooms were large and clean and linens great etc … but my big complaint is the price does not reflect what we were expecting in this lovely hotel called spa and resort ! Disappointed !
Stunning & clean
The price
Everything, the staff are amazing, the room was clean and quiet and the spa facilities were good.
There was no negatives for me, it was beautiful.
How friendly the staff was and how clean
The pool is only open 5-10 when u arrive and from 7am but you have to leave by 11 and it’s £25 just for n hour in the hot tub and when I was booking it didn’t mention on here that the food isn’t open a Monday and Tuesday so a bit gutted
Such a beautiful place! Big rooms and the property itself is just beautiful. Just wish we could’ve stayed and enjoyed it longer!
Beautifully decorated
No full length mirror in the room. Not enough plug sockets, no air conditioning, not enough tea bags, too strict on the times for residents to use the pool and the jacuzzi area should be free for residents.
The hotel is well appointed and maintained. Breakfast on the terrace was very good and breakfast staff excellent. Rooms clean and well presented
We arrived at 1.45 pm and had advised them prior to arrival we had to leave for a concert at 3pm and needed to change. Appreciate check in is a 3pm but room not ready till 3pm but if we paid £25 the room would be ready at 2pm ! We were in Clock Tower 2 and there is a skylight but no windows or aircon so room was very warm ( fans provided by too noisy to leave on all night) - under the skylight the carpet was wet ( dry by the morning) - no welcome pack so no idea what WiFi code was or how to phone reception. I base this feedback on the room price - policy is policy but being helpful does encourage people to return
We had the most wonderful little stay after a wedding. Room was so comfy and elegantly decorated. The whole building was beautiful. We loved the spa and it was also decorated really aesthetically. The best point through was the breakfast staff. The chef and the lady who welcomes you were incredible and an asset to the company. Friendly, attentive and really made my day. Breakfast selection was amazing and so tasty. Really set us up for the day! We can't wait to stay again soon. Both ladies were so lovely and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast in the garden felt like a right treat. Thanks so much for a beautiful stay.
We did find that the £25 ( for an hour!) additional cost to use the small outdoor pool was a bit steep. As lovely as it is it does not warrant £25 for this and a cocktail/prosecco unfortunately. The room was also unbearably hot but it was a heatwave and they had provided fans, maybe closing the curtains on specially hot days may help to keep the room cooler?
Strange location in middle of housing estate but very pleasant grounds. Achieves a chilled out atmosphere - ambient music wherever you go. Character features but finish does not always quite hit the mark. Large rooms, but our dressing table was damaged and some sockets were quite inaccessible. Most staff were very good, but an our waitress for the evening meal was unprofessional / unhelpful. The food was good. Value for money is very good, as long as you check charges - we were presented with a bill that included two breakfasts that we hadn’t had. With a few changes this place could be great.
This is a lovely hotel and spa. I came for three days to go mountain biking in Wales. The staff were friendly and helpful in storing my bikes overnight. The spa was a great way to recover after a day of biking. The food was great too.
Lanelay Hall is a gorgeous old building with beautiful rooms. All staff were very attentive throughout our stay - which was in the middle of a big heatwave. There were 2 electric fans in my room, to help me stay as cool as possible. Water was readily available for anyone needing to top up. The spa was very relaxing, and massage treatment lovely. The food in the Blok restaurant was excellent - it's clearly well-known for its steak, but as 2 pescatarians, we can say that the fusion of flavours and ingredients was delicious. Breakfast too was very good. We had a delightful mother and daughter stay. Diolch!
Having never been to Laneley Hall it was a very pleasant surprise from the moment we arrived it was like entering a secret garden with wonders to behold inside and out. From reception staff extremely tasteful deco spotlessly clean. A zen spa to relax and the best of all dining experience we have experienced in quite sometime. Well done Terry & Team a credit. And thank you for the personal touch of a Birthday treat and card 💕
No fault of the Hall weather exceptionally hot! And although fans provided in room and we prepared with bringing our own fans also. Air con would have been much appreciated. Maybe something to consider for future.
Large room. Enjoyed pool. Ambient music. Good range of places to sit / drink / eat. Staff mostly very friendly and obliging. Hotel is very good for the price paid. Would come again.
There are little details that need attention. Inaccessible sockets in room. Chunk out of dressing table. Waitress not well trained. Food is good but lacks flair / refinement. Tried to charge he for breakfasts we didn’t have - check your charges carefully!
Beautiful building, with modern interior, quirky twists and lovely spa We were given an upgrade, room was large, quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The young barman/waiter gave quality service, bar food was good too
Nothing
A beautifully stylish hotel and spa with two swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, with easy parking and pleasant courtyard seating area. Very reasonably priced for this standard of accommodation, reserved through booking.com. No lifts and some steep stairs. The restaurant was closed on the Monday night we were there but the menu looked appealing and a selection of items were available from the bar. .
Room was absolutely beautiful, facilities were spot on and it felt safe and homely.
Breakfast wasn’t what I expected. Presentation was lovely but overall the taste of the food itself wasn’t the nicest. The sausages for example tasted like Quorn sausages which is a vegetarian option which was not very delightful. We only ate a few items on the plate.
We had an amazing afternoon tea in the Lady Mary Cole room for my friend’s birthday. Rachael is truly talented, her cakes were beautiful and so delicious. And thanks for Amedeo for great service
Everything.
Nothing.
The hotel is well situated for access to the M4. A well appointed hotel which has a good but expensive restaurant. What you see on the menu is all you get, so beware. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room and comes in at almost £20 a head. Very comfortable room really quiet. If it’s raining they don’t have any umbrellas that you can borrow. Several years ago this hotel was probably surrounded by lovely gardens , these have now been replaced by housing. Staff are all friendly. I didn’t use any of the facilities.
The quality of the rooms and all facilities were first class. An ideal venue for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Breakfast was fantastic and with a great choice. Every member of staff we encountered was courteous, friendly and helpful - with a SPECIAL mention to the breakfast chef and waitress. I believe their names to be, similar to Nihad and Juliana. Also our chambermaid Gemma. Thank you all
Everything- it was fabulous
Nothing
We were celebrating a wedding with a champagne afternoon tea. What was served was simply wonderful and the staff, Bonnie-Rae especially (6*!) were fantastic! Thank you!
Great room, friendly staff and great service overall. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Amazing food, room was exceptional and the customer service couldn't be beaten.
Beautiful property, very clean and great service!
Everything was clean, tidy and welcoming!
Excellent place. Comfortable room. Great breakfast. Convenient location
The actual hotel /spa itself is beautiful. The food was good quality and delicious.
The room was disappointing for the price of £165 without breakfast on a weeknight . Ground floor deluxe double but with disability/accessible bathroom ( I think you should be told this before your stay) was not very romantic considering it was our wedding anniversary . The robes in the wardrobe had holes in and were ripped under the arms . The floorboards in the room above were particularly noisy and kept us awake . Also had other guests with children sat in our private garden area whilst we were in the room .
The housekeeping staff was very helpful and quick to solve all needs. The room was very comfortable and it was nice and quiet at night ( note that a friend had a room over the area of outdoor socializing and it was not quiet at all so one might want to request a room location to avoid noise)
We visited during the record breaking heat wave of May 2026 so it was super hot. That said - the staff helped us with three fans and we muddled through it! Acts of nature cannot be controlled but the team was great about providing cool water in our rooms!
Came here with mother in law a birthday treat . really beautiful place , spotlessly clean really lovely staff . Had a lovely treatment each , looking forward to returning Thank you
The pool and the grounds
The room was poor value for money. We had what we felt was the dregs of the rooms. It was dark and dingy with a small window and an adapted wet room rather than a bathroom. There was no chance of getting any sleep. You could hear everything from the room above, including them using the toilet and to.top it off the slamming door from the kitchen/restaurant behind our room was constant!
Clean, quiet room with comfortable bed and the staff were very friendly and professional. Will definitely return here again.
Nothing.
Beautiful room, staff were friendly & helpful. Also the little touches for my partner's birthday were lovely! Pool is lovely and warm. Also definitely recommend eating at the in-house Blok restaurant, I had the burger and my partner had the filet stake and it was all really good.
Beds very comfy and bedrooms spacious, decor in the communal areas beautiful, food very very good- lunch, dinner in the Blok restaurant and then breakfast.
The lack of access to spa facilities for hotel guests is what lets this hotel down, as it is not cheap to stay here, but this was made very clear prior to our stay and also when we checked in so it wasn’t like we weren’t made aware. The bedrooms were very hot but we did stay on a particularly hot day and they did provide a fan in the room but there is no air con. I always find it a bit odd when reception don’t ask you how your stay was or say anything other than thank you when you’ve paid when you check out.
Beautifully decorated property. We particularly enjoyed the relaxed evenings in the bar ...great food and service.
The bedroom we had was spacious but there was a distinct lack of basics like a luggage rack and space to put things in the bathroom. A shelf in the shower for shampoo etc would be useful. Whilst the staff serving food were fantastic, the reception staff were not helpful. It took a lot of moaning to get a luggage rack and the staff couldn't help with printing out tickets. Not what you expect in 5*. It seems strange to offer the pool and sauna but to charge £25 per person extra for the outside pool.
We had the most amazing stay at this hotel for our wedding anniversary last year. The suite we stayed in was beautiful, so spacious. The spa is amazing, probably one of the best we have visited & great that you can use it as much as you like during your stay, meaning we used it the night we got there and in the morning. The food in the Blok restaurant is absolutely delicious, followed by breakfast in bed the following morning to top it off. Definitely one of our favourite spa hotel stays.
We love everything and how personal they make it on special occasions. Our seeding year coming and it never disappoints and the food is just outstanding
The hotel was very characterful with helpful friendly staff. The pool was very attractive and the sauna also good. Afternoon tea was excellent as was breakfast the same morning.
It's situated in the middle of what is effectively a housing estate, with rather limited parking space.
Breakfast and room fabulous
Wow! What an amazing time we had celebrating my daughter’s birthday with the family. Every member of the waitressing team was friendly, efficient, and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The menú was exciting and the surroundings were beautiful. We rounded off our visit relaxing with drinks in the bar served by great bar tenders. Thank you everyone for making our day.
We attended a wedding there & the food was delicious. Beautiful rooms & lovely relaxing bar area etc. Did'nt use the spa but it looked lovely.
Had the afternoon tea in the Lady Mary Coles tea room Took my mum and daughter to celebrate her 89th birthday Mum was presented with a glass of champagne to mark the occasion . The service was 100% served by Bethany and Robert The food was amazing selection of sandwiches ,cream stones and selection of cakes . There was a good selection of hot drinks ,my mum said she enjoyed it more than the Ritz as the customer service was excellent Would we go again most definitely
