As frequently returning guests at this fabulous hotel, each time our stay gets better & better. From the moment you step into the vast lobby & see those amazing iconic 3 chandeliers, our smiles returned from a tiring 24 hrs plus of travelling from the UK,to being checked in by Alicia ( same as last year). We were given a fabulous room (2128) from which we were fortunate to see a troop of 30 plus cotamundi one night & many a roaming agouti about. We were fortunate to see a howler monkey too. Our room was perfectly appointed, spotlessly clean ( thank you Amanda for our towel creations), beds & pillows were so comfortable. The food as always is extremely good & the hardest thing you have to do is choose what you want from the vast array of cuisines each morning, lunchtime & evening. There are 5 themed restaurants if you want a more formal experience, however the Don Julien was perfectly for us. ( Thank you Edward, our charming waitress, who has been there many years) After our evening meal we finished our night with drinks in the lobby bar listening to the accomplished pianist Fellipe. We noticed that for the more youthful guests, there was more active nightly entertainment advertised. The managerial staff were always walking around & interacting with the guests each day. This gives this hotel a more personal experience for the guests. We are beach lovers, here, there has never been an issue of getting a sun bed, there are lots, just choose where you want to relax. Under the palm trees is idyllic. The location of this hotel is perfect. A leisurely stroll ( about 45 mins for us) through a tree lined avenue of amazing mini mansion homes, will take you to Playa del Carmen,a shoppers delight, we sit & people watch whilst having drinks. It's all safe too. We felt safer here than back home. If you have the time try & go to the Cirque du Soleil show, Joya, the food & show are amazing. There are refurbishing plans from May to September this year so the hotel will be closed. A perfect holiday,14 nights passed so quickly
Landscaping
Outdated complex and furnishing. Hallways made you feel like you were in a prison scene of a movie. Lack of variety of food. No traditional mexican dishes at breakfast or dinner, very limited options.
Hotel is in the right palace after 33 times why would I return answer the staff . But this time via TUI I have book for November expecting the same hotel and no indication from TUI when I booked is that the hotel is going to be closed for 3 months June July August for refurbishment that will be nice . BUT only finding out on RIU site that they are introducing an elite section to the hotel. This I do not like as when I book in to a hotel I would like to be treated the same as all the guests now there will be double standards. If I had known I would not have book this hotel, the situation will be you can’t go here you can’t go there you can only eat here. When I made contact with TUI and ask if I may upgrade the answer I got was NO ,it seems the elite section is only for Americans. Plus in this hotel there is not enough pool space to split the pools for double standards. This is going to be uncomfortable and it was to be special for my wife’s 70th birthday. TUI says you booked can’t do anything about it. The minimum I would have liked the same room we had but that goes to an elite guest. Call TUI before booking hotel.
Alright, this is a great little resort. The employees are fabulous and super nice and friendly. The atmosphere is great. They have a lounge that is open 24 of course after the buffet and restaurants are closed but the air freshener was just not it! Grant it they want you to come in a grab and go but the smell of the air fresher at the front door yuck! The music....guys there is more than Madana and techno the music choices have to be updated...if you are looking for older music there is Bon Jovi, Aero Smith, Journey's Balvin, Beyonce, Bad Bunny, Peso Pulma, Usher, Post Malone, I totally understand they are reaching for their customers but the music taste has got to change I don't want to listen to "Touched like a Virgin" "I'm a barbie girl" or Shania Twain all the days I am there, they have other country music singers I know they will be transformed into an adults only resort but they music choice and air freshers have got to be updated. Other than that, no further complaints rooms are great food is great atmosphere is great
It was our first time at a Riu resort and we found many things to like about our stay at the Riu Palace Mexico. We loved that we could go and check out the other Riu resorts close by - Yucatan, Tequila, Playacar, Riviera Maya - we thoroughly enjoyed walking through their grounds, grabbing a coffee, visiting their pool areas and getting a feel for what each resort offered. We also loved how walkable our resort was and the grounds are beautiful. The beach area is beautiful too (they try their best with the seaweed situation) and there are a lot of chairs on the beach. We never found it a challenge to find a pool chair - even if we didn't get up too early - and we LOVED the sun covers over so many of the chairs! Pool area was fun, but not too loud (for too long anyway) and it was always enjoyable being there. This resort will soon be undergoing renovations - that being said - the rooms needed a bit of work, but a HUGE SHOUTOUT to Elizabeth - she did an amazing job keeping our room clean. It was honestly cleaner than other (higher end) resorts we have stayed at - floor was washed every day! They also always refilled the soda and water we drank out of the fridge in a timely manner. The food at this resort was average good. Usually by the end of the week - I get really tired of the buffet but I didn't find that here. There was enough variety that each day you could have something completely different. The food at the buffet was often quite good so I would say that I enjoyed it most of the time. Just be selective about what looks like it's been sitting too long and what is just put out! The a la carte restaurants - were not busy, with the exception of the steakhouse (so arrive at 6:30 or plan to wait). We enjoyed the Italian and Krystal the best, but also went to the buffet twice for dinner which was good. BEST treats - the macarons, chocolate cake and carrot cake at the coffee shop! SO GOOD! Staff were all very friendly! We would definitely consider a Riu Palace again - loved this location for walkability.
This was the most disappointing AI experience yet for us. We had fun because we were on vacation and chose to but this hotel is way past due for a complete revamp. I hear that is happening in May but they honestly should not be open as it is. The location is on a beautiful stretch of Playacar beach and that’s where to good ends regarding the actual hotel. It has the awfully ugly and confusing color scheme of purple and stark white along with the worst ultra daylight LED light bulbs you can imagine everywhere. How people don’t understand that dimmer lighting and warm light over cold light creates an inviting environment is beyond me. If senior management from any hotel showed up here they’d likely be agast at the deferred maintenance but also just the aesthetic choices and lighting. The good - the people were really nice and work hard. The food is lousy and the drinks were all loaded with synthetic sweeteners. I keep my expectations in check at any AI but for what supposed to be the upper end of RIU, their Palace line, this was really bad. The Riu Palace Riviera Maya just down the beach is much better than this one. It also has sub-par food but the hotel itself at least looks better. I’d skip these and choose elsewhere.
We have returned several times to this hotel yes a little tired but doesn’t spoil the experience, they are having a refurbishment in May 26 and we are returning On our last visit the staff as usual are amazing always smiling polite and helpful i hope they will be returning as they are a big part of our experience, Service around the hotel is on a whole quick we did find the lobby bar slow even when not many people so we would leave and go to the court yard in the evening where the service and staff are excellent as is the coffee bar (maria) The food has plenty to choose from we like to eat at lunchtime and there was always plenty of choice, there is also a good selection of drinks We met a lovely young lady called sara (Trainee manager) so engaging The beach wasn’t the best due to the sargassum but you can’t control nature we tend to stay around the pools, there is drinks served around the pool so you don’t have to move if you don’t want to Javi was amazing as where the rest of them The hotel is very clean and the gardens, Look forward to going back in December to see what has been done
I just returned from a 5 day stay at this resort. Let me start by saying wait till after Sept the rooms are very dated and they are shutting down starting in May to Sept to redo the place. Bed was comfortable but everytime your partner moved you felt it. Didn’t even think of using the hot tub in the room which was next to the bed. The staff was amazing all nice and friendly and the do keep you entertained while in the pool area. The foam party was fun. Food was horrible we ate in the buffets and nothing really was out of this world. We did go to the Italian restaurant which we all enjoyed but a lot of us had stomach issues for most of the stay. Sadly I would not pick this resort again. Can tell you it didn’t leave me wanting to return to Mexico again anytime soon.
Quartos amplos, espaço externo espetacular! Paisagismo lindo e restaurantes excelentes.
First off I will say, beautiful resort! I was hesitant after booking as reviews were saying the resort was tired looking, we do not find this at all. We found the resort was kept clean, grounds were beautiful, no complaints there. Evening entertainment was a bit disappointing, pool entertainment was good. Pools were great! Service and staff were absolutely amazing! Kudos to them. Where this resort is severely lacking, was food. I have stayed at many Rius (including Palaces) and this resort was by far the worst. My partner and I felt unwell almost every day after eating, and even being back for a couple of days, still not 100% (this is most definitely food related, not sickness) Would not return or recommend this resort due to this, unfortunately!
Firstly we would like to thank the hotel for accommodating our requested room. This was our 6th visit to this wonderful hotel we absolutely love the staff and this is what makes us return year after year.Unfortunately because we return the we have found the evening shows to be same thing and have become below standard they once were . We love the Grease show put on by the Entertainment team and the Mariachi show put on by the Swlm up pool in the afternoon with a few Tequila’s.As a whole the service is excellent although we did find the Lobby bar service a bit slow this visit this we think is because of lack of staff at times to take our orders we have never had this before.Bar service was excellent at the pool and always with a Hola and a smile thank you all .Lovely to meet Sarah the Trainee Manager always happy to engage and always smiling she will be an asset to the RIU chain .We are looking forward to returning to newly refurbished hotel for Christmas 2026.A big Hola to all the Amigo’s at the entrance to the hotel for making us feel so welcome.Hopefully we will meet the same staff when we return.
It was a great experience, at first we had a problem with our reservation but they solved it better than we expected. The service was good, kind and fast as they could. Definitely we are coming back.
Our group of 13 family and friends spent 10 days at this lovely location! Feb 16-26. Always felt safe in PlayaCar. No problems flying out of Cancun. The beach was so beautiful, huge beach, warm water, soft white sand, the main reason to come here ! The grounds very well maintained, as said before the resort a little tired but being completely renovated this summer. I hope they give the bathroom area more privacy. And add more bathrooms close to the beach. The Staff was excellent, always a smile and very attentive. The food was delicious everywhere we ate. I like no reservations needed for speciality restaurants. My favorite was the Mexican. We booked 2 tours across the street at the little shopping plaza, ask for Aaron at the Cancun adventure kiosk! He did a great job for us ! We also used Bekare transfer service they were great ! We had a wonderful vacation at the Riu Palace Mexico !
La playa y otros servicios
Para ser un hotel de alto nivel, ubicación y servicio, considero que luce un poco anticuado o pasado de moda. Por el precio y las estrellas, debería ser más moderno y con tecnología de punta. Está un poco quedado en el tiempo
Me and my husband chose this hotel for our honeymoon after doing lots of research, it was our first time visiting Mexico and first time doing an all inclusive trip. We were sooooo happy with everything from start to finish. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, yes it could do with cosmetic updates but I believe this is already due to happen later this year. The bathroom not being separate was a new thing for us but it didn’t bother us in the end. The food was excellent overall, we loved the breakfast and lunch buffets, such a huge choice of fresh and food quality food, something for everyone and different things each day. We chose to eat here some evenings too for convenience. The evening restaurants were mostly great and we appreciated the flexibility of not having to book in advance, waiting times around 30 mins maximum. We were frequent visitors to the coffee bar in the lobby for ‘proper’ coffee and cake/snacks. We aren’t big drinkers but we couldn’t resist the yummy cocktails, Caribbean orange was our fave! The beach is unreal with the most glorious white sand and lovely water for swimming, plenty of sun beds and not too much seaweed. The included water sports were fun, we tried kayaking and boogie boarding. Spent most of our time at the beach as it was quieter than the pools and we are chilled out kind of people. The pool with the swim up bar was more of a lively vibe. All the staff were SO warm, helpful and attentive, they couldn’t do enough for you. Everywhere you look staff are hard at work serving, entertaining. cleaning and maintaining, and the whole place is so well kept and beautiful. Evenings entertainment was great, we enjoyed the shows and went almost every day to one, a couple of times we went to the RIU tequila opposite as their entertainment was different so was nice to have access to that. We didn’t get involved in daytime entertainment as preferred to chill but there was plenty going on. The location was perfect for us, felt really safe being in the gated community and security clearly taken seriously. You can walk to Playa del carmen town in around 30 mins or get a 5 min taxi from outside the hotel. We also did day trips to Cozumel, Xcaret park etc which we booked online through Tripadvisor. Overall, an incredible holiday and would defo recommend this hotel. We are excited to see what it will look like after refurbishment and we would love to return in 2027.
We just returned from a great vacation. My wife and I met our travel partners from Michigan and some of their family. I can't say enough about how friendly and polite the staff are. Always greet you with a smile. Food was terrific. The buffets were always fresh and such a great variety. From main dishes to desserts. Shame on you if you can't find something to eat. Also the specialty restaurants were very good. I loved the Italian restaurant. Their lamb chops were to die for. The Hotel staff were always cleaning something inside or outside. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The location of the Hotel is close to Playa del Carmen and Porto Morales. The beach in front of the Hotel is what pictures are made of. It's spectacular. Will we be back definitely. It was a Perfect Vacation.
We stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico last June for 11 nights all-inclusive and it was simply tremendous. The staff were consistently welcoming, courteous and attentive throughout. The food was excellent, the entertainment lively, and the location perfect. We also loved the atmosphere, especially the parties and access to the neighbouring properties and club. An absolute joy from start to finish — everything just worked brilliantly. Would return without hesitation.
We had an absolutely perfect holiday at the RIU Palace, Mexico, in Playa del Carmen. We've been to dozens of all inclusive and this one is by far the best. The hotel is the perfect size, and has amazing accommodations. It was chill and relaxed with the right amount of activities and entertainment. The service was incredible,... From check in to departure-simply sublime. Very clean. Excellent room service. Terrific food, plenty of options and excellent service in all the restaurants. Very polite and quick to serve. Access to all the other RIU hotels - so plenty of opportunity to party more (if desired). Beach side drink service was added plus. Every day was great, every employee was kind and helpful. Really, really impressed. I read some of the bad reviews and frankly can't imagine what there could possibly be to complain about.
I have stayed here twice before so this was our third time. I think they’re cost cutting a bit too much now. The rooms are worn and dated, but I think it’s due a refurb soon. The food was terrible. For a five star I was so disappointed, the selection was terrible, the quality wasn’t there and at best it was luke warm. Lots of people reported sickness and diarrhoea, which I suffered with and then for the rest of the holiday had stomach twinges. The drinks are mainly ice and never consistently tasted the same. The staff were lovely as always, Pamela in the coffee shop, the staff in the restaurants and the cleaners, all lovely and attentive. They work so hard. It is a lovely resort, the beach is lovely, the pools are nice although cold, but there are plenty of beds and clean towels. They need to stop guests putting towels out at the crack of dawn and not showing up for hours, unfair really.
Beach is amazing! Staff is very friendly and the nightly entertainment is wonderful. Food is pretty good for all incisive resort. Location is exceptional.
Rooms are dated. Room service menu and food is bad.

Don’t Book Rio Palace Mexico.” We spent two full weeks here during Christmas break, and honestly, it’s the worst hotel we’ve ever seen. Cockroaches literally marched across our room floor everyday—I told reception twice, no exterminator showed up. Towels stayed dirty, food was straight up awful and lukewarm. On the beach? Nobody even cared to bring us water unless you screamed. Managers acted deaf, zero fixes. Pure regret—steer clear.
Cozy, walkable clean hotel, wide and deep beautiful beach, great service, staff is always cleaning and arranging loungers, rooms are clean and spacious, great hot water pressure in shower, responsive, friendly and helpful staff, great family resort, walkout to shops nearby, safe gated community
Garden view rooms are not really garden - it’s facing the back wall of a neighbouring hotel - ask for a pool view if you can, the most annoying thing was that key cards stop working literally every day and you have to go to reception at the most inconvenient times to reset them, coming from the beach ready to plop down for a nap? Nope - to the reception you go, full belly after dinner ready for sleep? Nope - back to reception to reset keys! Walk off those extra calories! Some broken gym equipment, running out of beach towels by late morning.

The food was exceptional. We‘re always a bit sceptical of resort, all you can eat buffets, but this one is very good. They cook most of the food at the buffet.
This year’s trip was filled with delays… airport delays. My wife and I experienced something we’d never experienced before, a 15 hour delay to get to Cancun. I quickly called the hotel hotline about the problem and they asked me to send hotel reception an email notifying them of our delay. They graciously replied that our reservation was secure for our preliminary time of arrival. Needless to say, we arrived at the hotel at 3am of our second day, exhausted from our “trek” to find a single gentleman, looking as if standing a post, welcome us, not only with a smile, but also with refreshments! Check-in was flawless and fast. In no time, we were in our beautiful room ready to enjoy our stay. For the next few days. Amanda kept our room spotless and the mini bar always stocked. Our time by the pool and the beach was always excellent. Pastor and Viridiana always kept our drinks coming with a smile and great attitude. In Don Julian, Addy and Geshwen treated us like royalty and the food was outstanding. In the steakhouse, the food was amazing and the staff was really awesome. Last, but not least, Maria at the Cubano Bar prepared some delicious coffees and put some pretty drawings to cheer us up. It was such a great experience that it was hard to leave. RIU hotels, and especially Palace Mexico, have always been a guaranteed destination for fun, cleanliness, and relaxation. I hope we can return next year.
We stayed for 10 days and left Christmas Eve. The grounds looked great. I found like other Riu's a lack of washrooms Pool activities were lots of fun, I really liked the foam party's . The buffet had a great selection and ala carts are super. The lobby looked great with the Christmas decorations. Hanging out talking bell staff Francesco was super. Great person. Daniel at the front desk always nice to talk to. Our room was a good size needs a lot of repairs needed, I knew going in that Renos are starting in a couple months Bottom line, you can't go wrong with any Riu resorts Hopefully be back in a couple years
La zona de las piletas lo demás parece un hotel alojamiento de los 90
Necesita ya la reforma, los bartenders mal educados buscan propina todo el tiempo
Sadly this was the worst vacation to Mexico I have ever had. I have traveled to Mexico over 25 times, primarily to the Yucatán Peninsula, Riviera Maya area. This resort had the most terrible customer service I have ever experienced! It started from the minute we landed in Cancun, where I was told in my reservation, we had airport transfers included. When the RIU representative could not find our name he explained we would need to take a taxi to the resort and the resort would refund our taxi fare. At check in the receptionist had terrible to no communication with us. He said I would need to resolve my transfer issue with guest services and would barely look me in the eye or answer my questions. I decided I would resolve the issue after we got settled in our rooms. The rooms are another story. We had 3, as I traveled with my adult children. Two of them on the ground floor were very damp and musty smelling. They were much smaller than expected for suites. No private bathroom area. We actually got locked out of our room one night as the lock malfunctioned. We went twice to reception to reprogram our keys. When we realized this was not the issue, it was a lock malfunction. Reception made excuses and dismissals but finally agreed to send a technician to fix it. After being locked out of our room for nearly 2 hours!! A tech finally arrived to replace our lock. This was inexcusable! We are lucky we were with a group to wait in another room. What resort allows you to be locked out of your room for any period of time?!? We also found out this happened to other guests during our stay. Another issue was WiFi. It was very difficult to access. We did not have any success accessing it our first day - For all 5 people in 3 separate rooms. Finally on our second day right before I was going to go to the front desk to complain AGAIN, we were finally able to get on. The food was ok. I will give credit to the buffet. As my extensive travel to Mexico has exposed me to several resort buffets, this one had a lot of options and the food overall was edible. Japanese restaurant was good. Their fancy restaurant was not good. Steak & lamb were tough, overcooked, and terrible tasting. The lobster was also very tough and rubbery. Room service is the worst I have ever experienced at a resort. Bare minimum of a couple sandwiches and salads. Bars also have limited options and no top shelf liquors. The 24 hour bar should not be considered a “bar” as it is a room with 5 bottles of booze that is help yourself. What a joke. The beach is nice, but I recommend you stay at any other neighboring resort other than a RIU to experience it. The spa was ok. Very small, limited options. But staff are pleasant and good at their jobs. Back to the transfer issue. When I did go to guest services to resolve it, I again got excuses and deflections. They said I did not have a reservation, and said I needed to deal with someone else who had left for the day at 2pm?? After going rounds with this woman with her excuses and saying it was my problem, I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager. After waiting several minutes for the “supervisor” to emerge from his office, he continued to be rude and blamed me for not reading the fine print in my terms & conditions to arrange for a transfer. In all my life of traveling I have never experienced such terrible behavior from staff at a resort. Who blames the customer and offers no help in resolving an issue. They refused to refund my initial taxi ride and I was told I would have to take a taxi to return to the airport even when it says in my reservation - my airport transfer is included. In the Riviera Maya I have stayed at Valentin Imperial, Moon Palace, The Royal Hideaway, Barcelo Maya Palace, Azul Beach Resort, The Hard Rock at Riviera Maya. These are all great resorts with top notch service and do all they can to help make your stay wonderful. Anyone who gives this resort a rating of anything above 3 stars has never stayed at a true luxury 4 or 5 star resort!! Again the absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced!! Avoid this resort at all possible.
Terrible experience!! Do not stay here!! Everything was horrible from the moment we arrived. Management did nothing to fix it!
Just returned from a week @ Riu Palace Mexico. It was such a great place that I will not need to search for any other all inclusive resort for my vacation than RPM. Location: in Playacar, close to Playa Del Carmen, in what seems like gated area ( other Riu's and other resorts), so I feel safe. There is bike path/sidewalk that you can walk/run, and lots of tourists use to do jogging or walking @ night , no issue @ all. If I have time @ next visit, would rent a bike to do biking along the path there is a small market 5 mins walk, convenient Beach is SUPERB, no seaweed, beautiful soft sand Service: excellent from room attendants to waitstaff @ restaurants and buffet. Everyone work so hard for you, (they all deserve some tips, if you can). Front desk staff /guest services resolve any problems promptly Food: Buffet is delicious, plenty of seafood, the best from all the places I have been. Ability to walk in restaurants without reservation is appreciated, They are all good ( though I did not try the Japanese one). Service is fast and again, very nice Kudos to the servers of buffet , they are practically running to set the tables, get you the drinks etc.. Room: large room, w/ large balcony. Very comfy bed, sofa, Animation: etensive program to keep you busy if you want Pools: several pools, so not feel crowded Beach chairs and Pool chairs are plentiful, and comfortable, really not need to save early in the morning Overall, a wonderful week
Location is perfect. The hotel is good The food not that great. The staff are the best. Very close to Playa Del Carmen. Beds are old and rigid. Needs renovation but still nice. The price was reasonable.
Is has to be renew , colors and facilities are old.
Everything
Need more activities, I play volleyball a lot, they didn’t have a morning volleyball, they didn’t gather people to play, no competitions, staff didn’t know the rules
Everyone had a great time, we were a group of 9, Grandparents, grown kids and 3 grandchildren. It was hard, as expected to be seated together for dinner and then service was very slow. It definitely worked better for us to eat at the buffet. It was very clean everywhere and the employees were all kind and helpful. We , the Grandparents, don’t drink and it would be nice to have a price break for that. At times the music in the pool area was too loud and we would have enjoyed an area that was more quiet. That said, the grandkids loved the foam party and volleyball.
Absolutely perfect location. 30minute slow walk to Playa Del Carmen, 2 minute walk to Playacar shopping centre and other RIU hotels (which you can access for free) within 2minutes walk. Very laid back quiet atmosphere, which is perfect in daytime but does get very tedious at night as entertainment was at best very average. Room was spacious and exceptionally clean, we did move room on second day as we had two double beds pushed together where we were supposed to have a King, we asked reception and were moved the following day. Staff are all amazing, super friendly, extremely helpful and make you feel more than welcome. Jorge on Concierge often went out of his way to speak to us so give that man a raise because honestly hes such a genuine guy. A few things stopped me putting 5 stars... Firstly the bars close at midnight, then by 1am the staff turn all the lights off in lobby bar despite people sitting in them enjoying a drink, not only is this super dangerous but for a 5 star hotel, pretty rude. Yes you can go to the RIU Tequila or Yucatan but the brands of drinks are much lower quality and they should really have a purple wrist band bar ir at least offer same levels of drinks to those 'Premium' guests. The Palace does have a 24hour lounge but its unmanned snd honestly has absolutely no atmosphere. I drink Premium Tequila mostly but the drinks in the optics are very basic, whereas RIU Tequila have a proper staffed sports bar. White and Neon party are a must visit! Brilliant atmosphere and RIU do such a good job of making it a perfect party, again the drinks are unbranded and we really felt that the Purple Wristband doesn't actually get you anything extra despite the hotel being one of the most expensive! Food is some of the best weve has after 5 Mexico visits, my wife has severe fish allergy but most the restaurant menus are fish based and left her very limited.. other hotels in previous visits have catered to her needs more and would cook in a clean pan, so that was a little disappointing. Beach and pool areas spotless, glorious sunshine, overall a beautiful hotel. So yes, 4stars, a few tweaks and could easily be 5. Closed for renovation soon so hoping they take some of these points on board
start of our 2 week stay went well, Manuel the doorman welcomed us as return guests with the words welcome home which was a lovely gesture, the first few nights in the lobby bar were hit and miss, at one point Actually Had to ask for extra alcohol in my drink as could only taste the mixer. I may be female but as a former manager of a club, I know when there's alcohol in my drink. And to make matters worse my husband who is on anti coagulates managed to lean forward in his seat and rip his shirt on a sharp edge on the window ledge which could of been catastrophic Had he have caught his body. All in all not a good experience. Reported to Tui rep and was promptly put right,. Although no member of management came to offer apology which would of been considered common curtesy under the circumstances Second week, Monday went for breakfast at 8am and cooked food was either dried up or non existent. Not a good first impression for new comers. Was refreshed at 8.30 should have been monitored more carefully . Italian restaurant Totally disorganised, lasagne came out luke warm and had to be sent back still hadn't arrived when I'd finished my meal, tiramaso was dreadful, I've had better soggy weetabix , for what is classed as an Italian restaurant 2 things they shouldn't get wrong are lasagne and tiramaso , the restaurant was extremely loud due to a large table of Americans who needed to shout above each other, and definitely not conducive to a romantic dinner. Would not recommend. This hotel does not deserve it's palace status the only saving grace are it's staff who are polite friendly. And efficient. Shout out to Rigo, Manuel, Omar, Luis in lobby bar and Pastor at the pool also Edward in buffet restaurant who's service was exceptional. Although Raul in steak house seriously needs to slow down before he has a coronary as he practically threw our crab cakes at us with the words "crab cakes". Much to the amusement of table next to us. Thank god Soup wasn't on menu or I would of been wearing it. This hotel desperately needs updating as tiles loose in lift, trimmings are sharp, and in this day and age when lots of people drink non alcoholic drinks, they have no non alcoholic spirit choices, only non alcoholic drink is 1 beer and fruit juice which are full of sugar, so not much good if your diabetic. Even with these hiccups we enjoyed our stay and will return, as understand its getting a much needed refurb.
Visited this resort for the second time in 18 months. Perfectly clean resort where the staff can t do enough to make your stay memorable. Hallways are loud and noise could irritate mild sleepers. À la Cartes a little subpar to what they were in March 2024 ( Japanese would be the worst on this matter), maybe because it was low season. But overall a nice experience I enjoyed and will repeat.
I am in the fourth day of an eight day stay here and cannot wait to go home. This used to be my favorite hotel in the world, but it slipped dramatically since the former manager left. I booked solo last December and requested a top floor room. When I arrived, I was told by Paolo ( at the desk) that I most certainly would have a tip floor room. He asked me to go to lunch and return in 40 minutes. When I returned two hours later, I was met by Karen ( a real Karen), who gave me a key to a dark, dingy ground floor room. When I asked for a top floor room, Karen said, "Those are better and nicer rooms, and they are for couples only, NOT YOU!" I had to beg, and it was demeaning, but I was assigned a top floor room. It was nothing special. My birthday was on Wednesday, and I came here, because I've lost a lot of family members. In previous years, I'd come here on my birthday to ease the pain a bit, and it really helped Not this year. I just feel worse. On Wednesday afternoon at 3, I was in my room and was quietly tearful and missing my family members. The supervisor of the cleaning staff came into my room laughed at me and threw a couple of balloons on my bed. I told her to leave. The morning after I arrived, I spoke to Paolo at the desk, and he said "The top floor rooms are better and nicer, and they are for couples and NOT YOU!" Really? Yesterday the hotel manager came and found me. ( My name isn't Karen). She just made excuses for her staff. In the afternoon, my room was decorated nicely, but it was too late and wasn't my birthday. Oh, and I've been rushed out of each restaurant for each meal. I was in the buffet on Tuesday when the waiter (Eduardo) grabbed my plate while I was still eating! This hotel isn't adults only yet, but it will be next year. Just be careful if you book ( and I will never again stay here). If you are here solo and are enjoying a meal, don't be surprised if when a couple approaches your chair is pulled out from under you - especially if they are big tippers!
We visited this hotel in early October for two weeks as part of a family holiday. This hotel is fantastic, the food is unbelievable with great al la carte restaurants which are free to visit everyday. The drinks are premium and served quickly both in the bars and around the poolside. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and it feels like they actually want to work from concierge to the management team first class service. In most hotels there are usually something that lets the hotel down, towels not sent to the room or bottled water not delivered, this hotel is exceptional no issues or problems during out two week stay. In my opinion the service at this hotel should be the blue print for all hotels. We enjoyed it so much we will return next year after the refurbishment.
Salle de bain ouverte sur la chambre
Booked 4 nights 5 days at Riu Palace Puerto Vallarta, resort was very stunning, and they had great amenities. Drinks were flowing and everything was good. EXCEPT, on our final day we experienced RACISM!!! We were playing on the small pool with friends and we had a speaker with very low tone music, infact the security had asked us to reduce the volume and we complied. However after like 5 mins, the head of security shows up and starts to harass us at the pool, It took the intervention of some spanish speaking guests who were at the pool and were familiar to them, to leave us alone. Immediately they felt support from everyone at the pool, they apologized and left us to be. We decided to play music because, we saw other guests doing it, there are no signs to say you cannot, we had previously asked if it was okay and we were given a go ahead. The same person who said we can play it, went back and called security on us. That cast a dark cloud on my whole experience at the hotel. I just want to warn anyone of colour, to be careful at this hotel. Be warned!!!
Hi all i stayed at riu palace mexico after staying in riu tequila 2 years prior i walked through the hotel and said im going to take my family here . So i did and was not disapointed from the moment we arrived we was in good hands check in was smooth and lady helped me get a mobility scooter to hire. Then we had an amazing man called Francisco take our luggage to our room . He was great remembered all our names and had nice conversations with us all . Room was fine would of prefered a courtyard facing room but it was ok . Hotel was good for a mobility scooter i could get it in our room . Entertainment was ok could of been better but it was just ok . Staff are all hard working . Food was some of the best ive had in all inclusive and drinks was good and all branded at the bars . Brrakfast was good i mainly ate omelettes every morning and a pot of tea or a jug of coffee . My daughter and partner mostly had ceraeal or pancakes and fruit . Lunchtime buffet was good but very hot by the beach or you could go to another 3 or 4 riu hotels . I chose riu tequila for lunch sometimes as it was air conditioned . Evening meal i mostly went to the a la carte steakhouse . And the coffeeshop was great and had lovely milkshakes and coffees and sandwhiches and biscuits . I got to say i really enjoyed our stay and big shout out to francisco on front door
Just home from a nice week in Mexico, the best part of the holiday was the staff at the hotel they were so good and attentive The buffet was excellent but the small speciality restaurants lacked atmosphere especially the Italian they were not welcoming either. Drinks were good especially in the main hotel bar and the cafe there was excellent You really had to get up early to grab a sunbed with shade by the pool, there were lots of beds on the beach but we prefer the pool. The beach was stunning but the first 30m of the sea was a murky brown Apparently the hotel is closing for a refurbishment and it definitely needs one it is very tired, hopefully the rooms will be modernised and brought into the 21st century
This was our third visit to a Riu in Playacar property - we started with Lupita, then Tequila, and recently (end of Sept/early Oct) stayed at the Mexico Palace property. Really enjoyed them all but this was our favourite stay to date. 1. Check-in - excellent! The desk staff greeted us as we arrived , gave us a refreshing juice drink, and asked us the type of room that wanted to stay in. We asked for a quiet space on the top floor and that is exactly what we were given. Two thumbs up :) 2. Lobby amenities - there’s a 24/7 lounge with snacks available at any time. It has a coffee machine (handy!) plus various drinks and alcohol. It was a really nice place to hang out while waiting for our transfer back to the airport in our last day. There’s a small shop in case you don’t feel like leaving the property, a small chapel, lots of seating, a piano bar (excellent drinks and entertainment so always busy in the evening) and a coffee bar with excellent baking and desserts. I personally loved the purple and silver tones - made everything pop. 3. Room - we took the mini elevator up to the top floor (easy to navigate) and our luggage followed later. The room was lovely! We had two double beds that were pushed together so we called it a California king and called it a day. There is a coffee pot and grounds but we didn’t use it. There’s also a jetted tub in the middle of the room but we didn’t use it either. The room is huge so it’s not really in the way. The toilet has its own little closet. The shower has a door with the towels available on the inside so you can wrap yourself before exiting :) The bed was comfy enough without a topper, the pillows were nice, and the AC worked. We brought a fire stick for the tv which worked great. I think there are only 2 or 3 channels otherwise. Our balcony faced the back of the hotel which was okay with us. We didn’t spend any time out there. You could hear the shows at night but they end early enough that you can still have a good sleep. Couldn’t hear others around us unless they were yapping outside of our door. 4. Pools and beach - there are 2 “quiet” pools, one party pool, and the lobby bar pool - all fairly close together. And the beach is just a little further down the path. This was a BEAUTIFUL beach - the nicest we’ve seen during one of our stays. We walked over to the Riviera Palace Riu and the Mexico Palace beach is nicer. We had to get there early to get a shady spot each day but there were always chairs available somewhere. 5. Restaurants - we only ate at the buffet (morning and evening) and at the lunch buffet by the pools during the day. Great food with a ton of options. Loved it! We will 100% return to this resort again after it’s refinished and made into an adult only property. Thanks for the great stay!
We returned to RPM after 2 years, and loved the familiarity of the place and the staff, nothing has changed in terms of a high quality experience. We are all aware that the hotel is awaiting a refurb and relaunch (Elite? Adults only? Both?) but we had a fantastic week here all the same. We had room 130, one of the end ground floor suites. Huge room, tons of hanging space, great amenities and a fab view. As ever, food was consistently high quality, and we particularly enjoyed Krystal and Myagi restaurants, the latter we visited twice in the week. The pool areas were plentiful in terms of beds, great entertainment and that view out to sea that we miss so much when we’re away. The staff managed the sargassum daily, but in fact it was only a minor amount and it was cleared early every morning. Overall, a great vacation, we can totally understand why some fellow guests are on their 20th+ visit. We’ll be back after the refurb is complete.
Myself and a few friends absolutely LOVED this place. Been to a couple others in South America, but this place was the best. Beautiful beach. Everybody working there had a smile. Coffee bar, and regular bar in the lobby, sports bar which served quick food, 24/7. Bottles of liquor, {dispenses}. They also had bottles of wine there. The buffet was really good: No flies hanging around the food. A la carts., were excellent. Live music great. Rooms nice and clean. Approximately one hour drive from airport We are visiting Riu Negril in Jamaica in December, but I can't see it topping this one. We are making this location an annual thing . Thanks staff for a great experience, and we will see you again. 5 star for us, and there were 30 of us.
We had a fantastic 10 nights at the RIU Palace Mexico. The location was very peaceful- Playacar is a gated community with a number of hotels as well as some shops and bars. The wider area has some very interesting places to visit, we would recommend Tulum and the cenotes, though we found Cancun not worth visiting. The hotel itself is beautifully presented, with a stunning foyer and grounds. There are plenty of staff, and the customer service is amazing - so friendly and attentive. The standard of cleanliness could not be better- the room is serviced not once but twice a day. We found the food to be of a high standard in the main restaurant as well as the five specialist restaurants, and we really appreciated how easy it was to get a table in those restaurants, all on a first come, first served basis, with no pre booking required. We also appreciated the availability of branded drinks and excellent cocktails at the bars. The beach is beautiful and is kept spotlessly clean, and watersports are readily available. The pool area and pool bars are also well maintained with excellent poolside service, though a small downside is that all the pools are a bit samey (rectangular) and close together, so whilst some may be designated for lane swimming, or sports etc, the reality is they all kind of merge together. One of the benefits of staying at the RIU palace is that you can use the facilities in the neighbouring RIU hotels, this proved useful as the RIU Tequila has a great sports bar, and the RIU Yucatan has really interesting grounds with monkeys, lizards and Coatis (Raccoon cousins). The biggest disappointment with the hotel was the room - whilst it was very big( bizarrely we had two double beds pushed together) with plenty of space and storage, the open plan design meant that the toilet was enclosed in a tiny space. Also the room was showing its age, with noisy aircon whose controls did not work properly, plus some other faulty electrics. The wood finishes on the doors were poor and not in keeping with the rest of the decor. Overall we had a great stay - excellent hotel and all inclusive service, just slightly let down by the room.
We recently completed our annual holiday at the RIU Palace Mexico staying there from September the 15th for two weeks overall we would score the hotel 3/5 stars this score would be a 2/5 if not for the fantastic colleagues who work there , we can’t praise them enough excellent service, friendly nothing was a problem for them from room cleaning , bar service , dining and entertainment all fantastic. The food was of a very high quality, and all the restaurants were equal in delivering excellent food and service ..no problems whatsoever with the food The issues that disappointed us were… The standards of the room we had ,as mentioned the cleaning And towel changes were great but the room itself was extremely tired and dated disappointed when we walked through the door awful out look on to some trees dividing us from the next hotel ,grubby paint work poor repairs quality I think the room has had more coats of paint than the Tyne bridge , electrical sockets awful no usb trying to wedge items under the plug to get your phone to charge not good enough , the tv was really poor picture quality and the channel choice was poor very little English speaking channels ..yes I appreciate we were in Mexico but when you sometimes just want to watch the tv for a few hours General noise on late evenings and early hours was really poor doors slamming music playing in rooms , shouting screaming , the corridors seem to magnify the noise , people returning from their night out you understand a bit talking laughing ect but when it kicks off at 1 and 2 in the morning it’s not acceptable , I feel a bit of a discreet security presence walking the corridors would help with some people who can’t behave themselves in the early hours and a knock on the room doors to sort the problems out , lying in bed waiting for the noise to subside is not one of my favourite pastimes , Dress codes in the restaurants was poor people sitting with sun hats on ,I will say this was a minority but we observed it several times Gym ..or lack of it really poor for the size of the hotel , I did use the gyms in the sister hotels you can use that were slightly better So in summary *great looking hotel ..until you get to your room and then you start to notice how tired the place is ,also visible in the restaurants *Great food and fantastic really hard working colleagues *Really poor acceptance of rowdy noisy people and the sheer level of noise in the corridors and from some rooms really spoilt it for us and left us disappointed with our stay
Just returned from this hotel. What a wonderful holiday we have had. Yes some areas of the hotel need a little updating but it doesn't impact your holiday. The staff really can't do enough for you from house keeping to bar staff to reception everyone is so friendly. The coffee/milk shake cafe is a nice addition. Food is good and we enjoyed the steak house and Mexican restaurants. We will certainly be returning. Thank you to all the staff for making this an amazing holiday.
Arrived at the hotel and was found that Expedia had somehow messed up our reservation. Spoke with the Manager Jamie and another Lady and they were very helpful in getting it all straightened out. When we went to our rooms they were clean, smelled nice, and really quite lovely. The room itself made you feel as if you were in your own home. The room had everything you could want right down to the frig bar and comfortable beds. We definitey used the bar amenities, and had our frig filled up with water, cold drinks, and ice. We used our amenities in our room alot and enjoyed every minute of it. We were located on the first floor and it was super quiet and barely heard ( and I mean barely) heard the staff. They were awesome people that were ameniable , sweet, and very kind. If you neeed something all you had to do was call and it arrived withi minutes, such as water if you ran out, and not small bottles but large quart bottles. Next next go with the food, so good, so awesome. Our favorite restaurant was the La Bodega, excellent food, excellent service. I would eat there every night while I was there, if I had discovered it early and made it only there on our last night. Every restaurant was delish and no reservations were needed so it all went smoothly. The Italien was very good as well as the Fusion restaurant if you wanted to try different foods. Gustav at the pool with his workouts and teaching us Salsa was absoulely worth his weight in gold. Jamie at the front desk along with another lady who gave us a voucher before we even got checked in, sorry I can't remember her name, both were so helpful. Check out so easy with no hassel. The atmosphere was divine, the staff awesome, and all staff that were taking care of us on a daily basis were the kindest, most sweetest people. There was absolutely not one thing wrong that I can fault this hotel with, and I intend to return as well as my friends who agreed with me. The Hotel Palace Rui Play Del Car was the epitome of class, good taste, excellent service and I highly applaud them for their dedication to making us feel at home in their Hotel.
Food horrible. This palace worth then Riu Tequila. Food dry no taste all empty. Never go back
There is only one thing I can say about the Rui Palace Mexico is that it is perfect from the moment we arrived until we left, all the staff always got a smile on their faces and were very polite, rooms were clean and spacious in fact the whole hotel was, food in all the restaurants was brilliant , Rigo and Frachesco in the lobby bar made are holiday the pair of them made us laugh every day and nothing was a problem for them all in all 5 star service
I had a great name celebrating my daughter’s birthday !!! And Luisa Noriega from Trafic Tours. Made sure transportation was provided and the excursions were soooo much fun! I’ll definitely be back!!
Just got back from 2 weeks here with my husband. We are in our late 20s. We absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms are a little dated however, I have heard from others it’s being renovated soon. The amenities are fantastic, pools, restaurants, gym etc. and the hotel is right on the beach. The beach is beautiful and you can do some water sports for free but jet ski etc you have to pay for. The staff are really what makes this a 5 star hotel. They work tirelessly. The hotel is immaculate and is a credit to the cleaning staff as they are cleaning constantly. Isobel cleaned our room and it was always spotless. All of the waiting staff in bars, hotels were friendly and worked extremely hard. There is a tipping culture however, you are not ever expected to tip. A lot of people do not tip at all, we chose to wait until the end of the holiday when we tipped. The entertainment staff are brilliant and work really hard which pays off. We loved Eric, and Fernando :) There is a shop in the hotel but it is very expensive. 5 min walk outside the hotel there is some shops that have everything you need, pharmacies, souvenirs, 7 eleven etc. It is a 5 min drive in a taxi to Playa Del Carmen. We did this once to look around 5th avenue which is worth a look. Taxis wait in the hotel car park and if u ask at reception they will call one to the door for you. Taxis were very reasonably priced and we never struggled to get one. I would definitely go back to this hotel and have recommended it to a friend. Thank you Riu Palace for a fabulous holiday :)
Fantastic two week all Inclusive at this stunning Hotel. Reception was very profressional and courteous, rooms are spot on and Staff are amazing. BIG shout out to 'Javi' who works the pool area serving you drinks on your Loungers.....this Guy is super friendly and makes sure you enjoy your time during the day. The lad who runs the activities in the pool is great too (sorry don't remember the name), also 'Omar' who runs the Bar area in the evenings is super efficient and makes sure you never have an empty glass lol. Entertainment is just right for a large Hotel and the Guys who clean the rooms do an incredible job every day. We are led to believe this Hotel is being renovated between May-August 2026 but tbh not sure where it needs it as we could'nt fault it ? A 100% 14 days & nights with no faults what so ever.....cheers Guys :-)
The Mexican food was poor. The beds were uncomfortable you could feel the springs on your back. Someone should do quality control on the beds as well as the Mexican food. To be in Mexico you would think that the food would be authentic but it was not.
The hotel is dated and it wouldn't take much to bring them up to scratch,3stars is a fair reflection, air con got fixed 3times and still wasn't good, hot food at any meal wasn't hot, lunchtime burgers where made up and left for hours, the staff i think are brilliant the grounds and beach where very good, entertainment was awful and i mean they where that bad it was funny to me,pool area, dont go in the swim up pool/bar,people drink all day and have big bladders as the dont go to the nearby toilets.a good 3 star but no better ,sorry
Stayed here last week and all in all a fantastic holiday at The Palace. From the moment we checked in the staff made you feel welcome, and whenever we asked for things they were bought very quickly. Food and drinks are of a high standard, the selection of branded drinks at bars is impressive and all we ate was nice. The grounds are immaculate, the gardeners deserve lots of credit, and the pool and beach area are good too. We spent time around the swim up pool, with our only gripe been the lack of high quality brollies to shelter under. Rooms are spacious with whirlpool baths and massive beds. Whilst slightly dated, it not something you really notice. Room service is 24/7 and the staff are very responsive with requests from the app. We asked for ice tea one evening and had a whole case delivered in 10 mins. The lobby area is lovely with a great bar and coffee shop, and the air con makes a great break from the humidity and heat. We didn’t spend much time in the bars in an evening, we went to the Tequila to see friends, but there was music on or shows every night. A great bonus is been able to use the other hotels in the area to break things up, they are all of a reasonably high standard. We would definitely return as is, though the rumoured tier system post renovation would put us off.
It wasn’t bad, could be updated. But for the price and location it was definitely worth it. Food was alright, to say the least.
DO NOT waste your money, time, or energy coming to this horrible hotel. They treat customers with SUCH SUCH disgusting disrespect and don’t fix any problems. We stayed here for only one day & moved Riu Playa de Carmen, because in this hotel Riu Mexico the food is absolutely dry and disgusting and the staff are a joke, they are rude and disrespectful especially Ulysses, he was laughing at my family when we had to pay the up charge for the other hotel and made us pay extra $1000 even though we were not satisfied and it was their fault. The rooms are absolutely dirty with lots of dust and dirt and mold growing on the walls, and the AC always goes in and out. The food is very limited and super dry not tasty at all, and there are always flies and bugs inside the food. The management tried to effort to help us and ignored and laughed at us. The front desk and manager need to be fired because it’s theie fault the hotel runs this horribly. Please read the bad reviews before you pick the hotel because this will be one of your biggest mistakes and you will ruin your vacation and waste money!!!! We will be warning all our friends and relatives that visit Riu about this hotel.
Shops nearby and pool excellent
I had a great experience, the staff was amazing.
I’ll be as honest as I can with this review based on our experience at this hotel. First impressions, the lobby reception area is stunning with a little chapel if you feel the need. We were both greeted with a welcome drink and our cases where taken to our room as soon as we checked in. The room although a little bit of updating would lent go a miss “a lick of paint” and a few fixtures renewing would sort it. This said the room was very clean but there was a bit of a damp smell but this vanished after a couple of days “we think it may have been down to the shower as it drained very slowly especially at night well lots of roomed where using the shower. Cases unpacked we went for a look around. There’s a main self service Restaurant Don Jillian’s this guy s open in the morning and at night but not lunch times.. Then there the steak house this is at the far right of the hotel just past the pools. There a Mexican, Italian and Japanese restaurant all first come first served.. if they are buy you get given one of these buzz boxes so you know when they have the next free table. There are four pools one of these buzz boxes being a pool bar.. the beach is at the end of the hotel just after the pools with a fast food outlet that belongs to the hotel.. Entertainment is nothing to get too excited about but it was ok.. the entertainment staff are great… if fact every staff member we met were fantastic “couldn’t do enough for us” Good points: Food (lots of choices) Drinks (branded) Staff (fantastic) Entertainment (good) Hotel (very impressive) Not so good points: Rooms could do with a refresh # Music day and night is very loud # note this hotel is due to be Modernised next year between May & September.. as long as it doesn’t lose its charm it will be 101% awesome. Tips: If you go into Player Del Carman you will be as Jed by all the shop keepers to come into their shops.. “very annoying but it’s their way” You do t have to TIP every time you ask for anything but when you do it’s very much appreciated by the staff and locals.. Very recommend and I’m guessing even More so when it’s modified next year.. Book with confidence..
I Love this property, it is a shame that it will be remodeled again. The Food Quality has dropped, several of the (Chef’s ????) should not be in view of the customers, no clue what they are doing. Some of the Speciality Dining restaurants get their food from the Buffet Restaurant. There is No or at least POOR quality control on the Buffet
Stayed with family at the Riu Palace Mexico for 11 nights, check-in was very quick and we were shown to our rooms by Jorge. Next day I had a bit of an issue with my legs (I have MS) and Jorge was quick to get me a wheelchair and got me back to room. Rooms are clean & large and have a mini-bar and optics for those who drink spirits, the mini-bar was replenished everyday and the room was also cleaned for the duration of our stay. Only gripe with the room is the whirlpool bath in the same area of the bedroom and not separate. Food and drinks were very good with plenty of choice for those who are fussy like me. TheCoffee Bar was excellent with the Latte’s a personal favourite of mine. All the staff were very friendly with a smile on their faces. Special mentions go out to Omar in the Lobby Bar, and to Jorge, thank you for making it a perfect stay for the four of us. We would love to come back to the Riu Palace Mexico again!
We love this resort. It’s always clean and amazing the stuff goes above and beyond to make sure all of our needs are met
After a horrendous delay of over 24 hours by TUI and our resort private transfer ( through TUI) being cancelled by provider, we finally arrived by taxi at The Palace tired, frustrated and eager to start our holiday, Reception told us our room with a lovely garden view was ready. Our room was disappointing with two twin beds and a view over a flat roof with various flower planters. Not the lovely garden view queen size bedroom we were expecting! My husband popped down to reception to be told that was all that was available and to try again to change rooms later in the week. We had already lost a day and a half so decided to stay put. We went down to the buffet restaurant late, 9.40om and were told it was closing in 5 minutes and to hurry and get what we wanted, we managed to grab a few things as the staff were clearing up around us. Back to the room exhausted, toilet light broken and also two wall light. Next morning realised over head shower wasn’t working either!! Putting all these problems aside, we went exploring, the hotel was dated, having stayed in the Playacar and the Yucatan in previous years we expected something amazing from the palace, but the room and dated decor did not impress, However all the staff we met were so friendly, the hotel is spotless, the gardens and the beach were as lovely as we remembered, But, the seaweed was really bad both in the beach and in the sea. Tractors ran up and down early morning trying to clear it but it was bad this year. The little coffee/cake cafe in reception was a massive bonus and we tried far too many delicious cakes!! We tried all the restaurants except the Fusion, all gave us a good experience and the food was great , although the Mexican one seemed short of staff. Buffet was great for breakfast and we had a light lunch in the Guacamole restaurant during the heavy rain showers that fell a little bit too frequent for us. All in all this hotel didn’t have the Palace luxury we have been in previously and let’s hope we can visit after the refurb and be wowed with the much needed makeover
Great resort
We stayed at the beginning of September 2025 and booked a junior suite through TUI. The hotel is smaller than most. It is beach fronting. Initial apprehension based on FB and Trip Advisor reviews regarding 'tired' rooms with hard beds and poor electrics were unsubstantiated. Our room (2043) was large, clean, well maintained, had a comfortable bed and absolutely no problems with any of the electrics. A home from home for our 10 day stay. The weather was very hot throughout the holiday with some showers at the end (it was the start of the hurricane season..) remember the time we visited it will rain heavily for a short period and then the sun comes back out. The pool areas were very popular and the usual early morning towels on beds did happen, but most times you could get a bed after 10am. The sun cover around the pools is poor with better shade under canopys compared to the poor quality brollies. They all need replacing. The pools were warm - too warm to really cool off. The swim-up bar should be avoided as many will get in and never leave for quite a few hours - if you get my drift!! Drink service was provided frequently around the pool and on the beach. The beach - what a place to relax - plenty of beds, shade through the tall trees, lots of space and a clear blue sea. Very little sargasum on any of the days. The hotel food is exceptional, especially at the main buffet restaurant. The specialist restaurants were 'hit and miss' unfortunately, especially the steak place near the beach. Shame really. Night time entertainment is low key, with some live music on the outdoor stage, a silent disco and a piano played in the reception area. Again, waiter service at all times. Suited us for our stay. The whole site is spotless, with staff continually cleaning and gardening. The staff are very friendly and accept any tips offered with real gratitude. Tipping is NOT expected. The hotel is due to be refurbished in 2026. It is needed. As this hotel is a Rui Palace, you have access to 4 other Rui hotels nearby. We visited all for a nose about, drink and lunch at one. Clearly all are a lot larger and have a lot more guests. Our view is that none were are good as the Mexico Palace!! So, like many we will consider visiting this hotel again once refurbished.
Great stay
Stayed here from 9th- 23rd August and wish we were still there This hotel is truly wonderful. Each and every staff are friendly and helpful, everyone says hola, from the gardening team to the senior management team (very glam ladies they are too!) We have stayed at quite a few Riu hotels and this has got to be our favourite No reservation or limits on the speciality restaurants. We ate at all of them twice, and the steak house 3 times! There is no specified sittings either, you can stroll in when you are ready (between 6pm and 9:30pm) and if there’s no table you are given a buzzer to come back. The main buffet had many options. It was never very busy, always for a table straight away, no queues. Abraham at breakfast looked after us very well, very attentive. We were given Room 2029 which faced the walk way between here and the Riu Yucatan, no view but we only showered and slept in the room. Did hear a little bit of noise on a couple of nights (we thought the path was locked) but no major disturbance Room had 2 double beds and a sofa bed made up for our 2 children. The rooms do have a bath in the middle but we had a curtain which could be pulled round for privacy Entertainment is great. Enjoyed the aqua aerobics every day. They let children participate which we’ve not had in previous Riu hotels This hotel knows how to party. Foam parties, coconut parties, neon and white parties…. Took me back to my youth! My kids loved it although the youngest found the neon and white parties a little too loud Had a small incident with a Mexican family who took one of our towels and refused to give it back. I informed the towel hut and was given and additional towel, quickly resolved Riu never fail to provide an excellent holiday
Myself, partner and 7 year old arrived on the 12th August for 2 weeks, we swapped to this hotel a week before as we were meant to be going Planet Hollywood. we didn't really know what to expect. As soon as we arrived we had a welcome drink, the staff couldn't do enough for us. When we got to the room we had 2 double beds, we asked for a pull out bed for my little girl and they brought it straight away, the safe didn't work or the iron and again they were straight there sorting them. ROOMS- We stayed in room 2031, 2nd floor. our view wasn't very good from the balcony but we weren't bothered as we weren't in the room much, when we come out of the room we were facing the fountain in the middle of the resort. The room was quiet. away from the entertainment and reception. Rooms were cleaned everyday, aircon & fan were really good. we never slept with the aircon as it made the room freezing. fridge was always filled, and someone always knocked on asking if we wanted anymore drinks for the fridge. maids used to make animals with the towels for us. The only thing we found odd was the bath next to the beds, and it was all open plan. not private for families if they have teenagers. there was a separate shower and toilet, the toilet didn't have much room. POOLS- we went to the pool at 5pm when we got there and couldn't believe how warm the pool was, we found in the mornings they felt abit cooler but by the afternoon they were like a bath, we actually liked this though as we stayed at the pool until late, they close them at 8pm. the staff around the pool are brilliant, constantly cleaning offering you drinks. the gardens were kept spotless, the whole resort was clean. All drinks were nice. we did take our own bottle to keep drinks cool. FOOD- LA--CARTE restaurant always had a huge Varity of food, breakfast was always good. my little girl loved the chocolate pancakes & we ate here quite a lot at tea time aswel. staff always find you a table or will make you one up, and come round offering you drinks. DINNER- Dinner time food is good, you can either eat in the restaurant which is used for the steak house at night but you do have to wear something over your swim wear, they had a beach bar with chips, meat, burgers and hotdogs, you just had to walk over the beach with your food and eat it by the pool bar or by the pool, not many people ate by the pool which we liked as there was no food left everywhere. sometimes I didn't want to eat in either so I walked up to the lobby bar by reception and grabbed a sandwich, you also have the option to going to lounge 24/7 which had food. Our first night we ate at the mexican which was nice as they served you, we went to the steak house 3 nights, the meals were lovely. There is no need to book either, 1 time we went they said it was a 45minute wait but we only waited about 20 minutes. we sat in the bar by the pool and had a drink. we didn't try the other restaurants as our daughter is fussy but we were told how nice they were. ENTERTAINMENT Day entertainment was amazing, there were fitness/yoga/dance classes on everyday apart from sundays. aqua at 11am with Gustarvo who is the nicest funniest man we have met. His aqua was the best, even my partner joined in. We never missed a day. Gus had us involved in everything, foam parties in the pool, pool games, coconut parties on the beach, the hotel was non stop but it wasn't too loud. The entertainment is mainly in the little pool so we got beds by the bigger pool. NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT There was always something on at night time outside, but we enjoyed sitting in the lobby where there was aircon and someone playing the piano. Fridays we went across the road to tequila hotel where they had a white party or neon party, they alternate them every week. These are amazing nights with all the staff from rui hotels on stage. We were there for 2 weeks so made them both. The hotel paints your face before. we took both bright clothes and white outfits. we visited the other RUI hotels whilst we were there and did like the other RUI Palace riu hotel riviera maya, other hotels can't visit these 2. there seemed to be more kids at the riviera maya one. We have been told our hotel is been renovated next year and going be adults only which is a shame. BEACH there were tractors every morning cleaning up the seaweed, there was quite abit the first week we were there, the second week it all cleared up, the water was crystal clear and a nice temperature. SUNBEDS my partner used to get up about 7am to get sunbeds, we found sunbeds had towels on all day and not used. there was always plenty on the beach not used. KIDS CLUB My litter girl loved kids club, every morning she would ask what was on. Marlene who ran the kids club was so good with the kids, they had there own foam party, there was always something on in the morning then afternoons. My 7 year old could come as go as she pleased, but it is very safe. there is a park and indoor area aswel. Even the morning we come home my little girl went to make a goodbye bracelet with Marlene. I never even mentioned kids club to my daughter but because staff make such an effort she wanted to go. TRIPS we booked 2 through the tui rep at the hotel & 1 through facebook we did xcaret park, which was an amazing day!! expensive but worth the money. there was so much too do there and a show at night. boat and buggy trip to Isla Murjeres, the whitest beach we have ever seen. all drinks on the boat were free, we stopped on a beach and had dinner which was included, went snorkelling and a buggy tour around the island with a few stops. Jungle Buggy tour to see where some of the mexicans lived, my partner booked this through someone on facebook, it was eye opening to see how some of them live, we got to stop and have some food with them and also buy them some food back, we stopped at a cave and swam in the river there, this was a trip I will never forget. We have never stayed at a riu hotel but we were really impressed and will definitely to a riu in Mexico, the best holiday we have had. Can't thank the staff enough for making our holiday so special, we met some great people. I am still gutted to be home after 2 weeks.
We enjoyed our 2 weeks and had an amazing time. Other people have been exaggerating about the state of the hotel. It is true it could do with some renovating in areas. Before arriving, we didn't know what to expect and prepared ourselves for disappointment. We certainly weren't and were impressed with many aspects of the hotel Overall it is in very good condition and I hear it actually is being renovated next year. The employees are fantastic and work very hard in whatever job they've doing. Our room and the whole premises are cleaned to a high standard. The beach is a big attraction to the hotel and we were on it every day. The Carribbean sea is warmer than our local swimming pool and also clean. The pools were on the small side, but adequate for cooling off. The choice of drinks is very good and bar staff will make cocktails which aren't on their list. Food choice is good. We didn't eat in their Japanese or Italian restaurant. The steakhouse is good, as too the Mexican. We had mixed feelings about the Krystal restaurant. The main buffet is really good and great choices. The afternoon buffet which is the same restaurant they use for the steakhouse is also very good. The coffee shop does tasty milkshakes, lovely coffee and nice cakes. All the bars are quick at serving drinks and it's nice trying new drinks which you may not normally go for. The Playacar area is nice and we walked around the area a few times in the evening. We went to 5th ave., but did not enjoy our time there. It was nice walking from one end of the beach to the other. Many nice hotels are bordering the beach and all over is clean and well maintained. I believe the Mexico Palace clears the sargassum in th morning, as we were very clear to some other parts. Before booking with TUI, we considered 10 days, instead of 14. When we approached day 9, we were very pleased we had booked 14 as we certainly weren't ready for going home. This hotel will definitely be considered again when we visit Mexico.
We someway, some how this booking got made as we attempted to review the property for a possible booking in January or Feb… Since then, we have been trying to sort out the mistake. Our inability to have you cancel drives our input We have not visited the property, hence we are unable to appropriately rate the property.
The people who work the resort are hard working and are always there to help.
Beautiful beach and good food we love it planning to go back soon
Our first time there and it exceeded our expectations, absolutely coming back! Best service ⭐️
Where do i start well i do it in stages . Hotel : very good reception very helpful when needed help could not fault them. Hotel it self was a bit dated but still good . I understand it is due for a renovation next year shutting down for 4 months. Grounds were kept clean and tidy at all times worked tirelessly. Room: very good plenty of space good amenities in room even have your own optics in room . Housekeeping : Impeccable no problem there our maid Barbara was superb always kept clean nothing was an issue. Fridge stocking all kept up to date. Food : Main restaurant( buffet ) superb choice unbelievable and tasty . We also tried Botago ,guacamole , the Italian very good . Waitress service was superb refilling drinks and taking empty plates away in good time. Edward gets special mention we went to the left side of restaurant there because we knew we would be looked after. Pool/ beach: Very busy towels are not supposed to be left on sun beds there but when in Rome! Unfortunately it is not forced. Entertainment by the pool was quite good. I did find though the bar staff were a little humpy but when you have to deal with wasps around you serving drinks by the swim up pool then fair enough. Beach was lovely staff worked tirelessly to clear sargasso seaweed to keep clean . Only fault is there was only one guy serving drinks on beach should be at least 2. Entertainment : Not bad actually from 7 onwards live music , quiz and show till 10,30 to 11. Sometime themed. Waiters always kept drinks topped up. Overall staff was pleasant food was good drinks were not bad pool side bar drinks a little weak (cocktails)but not bars where restaurant is . Food excellent . Small gripes When renovating maybe include Light on balcony especially when your room is not at front. Room does get a little damp due to tropical climate so a/c really does not need to on. There should be a beach side bar it would be easier for customers maybe something to think about when renovating maybe also pools needs a little attention and another set of toilets near beach/ gym. But lastly a bit worried about going in august due to close to rainy season but no way sunny all 10days no rain 35 degrees or more. I loved the place and there is shops outside about 50 yds to the right. Go there it will be enjoyable . The negative reviews are far and few between don’t read them not worth it. Very good
Great
Riu are my favorite resorts
Take a step back in time when you walk into this resort, it definitely feels like late 80's/early 90's in here with the purple/silver motif. The food is mid-level, mass production. The La Bodega (Mexican themed restaurant) was a pleasant surprise (the appetizer buffet was the star!). The steakhouse, for us Texans, left MUCH to be desired. The breakfast buffet was the better of the buffets. The Rooms: need a refresh in a bad way. The bed is hard and uncomfortable. The room layout, with the weird glass "wall" is strange. The Bars: Rigo at the lobby bar was a joy, our adult kids love him and he kept them entertained! The Pools: Felt like bathtubs, need some kind of upgrade to help cool them down especially the pool bar. Couldn't find ONE that felt cool. The beach: gorgeous area, love the strategically placed palms for shade. But the water was FULL of seagrass so we didn't partake. Enjoyed the location and being able to walk to other properties, the little shopping market, never felt unsafe. Overall - for what this trip was intended for, this resort worked for us. The adult kids enjoying their graduation was our goal and they genuinely had a good time!
RIU Palace Mexico is situated in the gated community of Playacar in the Playa Del Carmen region of the Riviera Maya in Mexico. There are numerous hotels within Playacar but of important note are the RIU Palace Mexico, RIU Palace Riviera Maya, RIU Tequilla, RIU Yucatan and RIU Playacar. These are all accessed via the same road, and are within 500-600 yards of each other. Guests of the two Palace Resorts can use the facilities of all of the named hotels, whilst those in the non-palace resorts, can only use other non-palace resort facilities. NOTE: Breakfast and Evening meal must be in your booked hotel, but otherwise it's all fair game. On entering the grounds of the RIU Palace Mexico, you'll notice a very grand facade, ramps allow taxi and bus transfers to reach the main lobby entrance, while a set of steps allows pedestrians a more direct route. There are footways on the ramps also, making the hotel easily accessible! Making your way through the double sliding doors and into the lobby, you're greeted by an amazing view. From the huge chandelier, sculpture based seating area, lobby bar, and a further view of the full length of the resort if you care to notice it. Check-in/Welcome Desk is to your right as you enter and the RIU Front Desk staff are smartly dressed all wearing welcoming smiles. This hotel offers 4 different room types - The Junior Suite, which are facing outwards to the gardens and neighbouring hotels, The Superior Junior Suite, which are facing inwards towards the glorious fountains of the hotel. The Suite which offers a larger room space of the Junior Suite, and then the 2 Floor Jaccuzi Suite. As at time of writing, TUI only has the Junior Suite and Suite as options, anything else will require an upgrade request - which we did. Our Daughter is Neurodiverse and we felt that the outward view would be somewhat claustrophobic for her. Upgrade was simple and we were very quickly shipped off to our rooms, 2135 and 2136 on the 2nd (top) floor to the left of the hotel, in the end part of the building. My wife & I in 2136 and Daughter & Mum in 2135. The Rooms are spacious and well laid out, with a wardrobe/closet with clothes rail and a couple of shelves for clothes, there is also a 4 drawer unit for clothes - we found 2 of us were able to easily store our clothes for a 12 day stay (with spares), and plenty of room to spare. There is an all inclusive minibar containing Beer (Larger), Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7Up Zero, Canada Dry Blue and Canada Dry Yellow - in addition there's plenty of 1.75l bottles of purified water (we had 3 to begin with, drank loads and never ran out). There's also 4 spirits Optics in the room, which are included and contained Baccadi (White Rum), Beefeater (London Dry Gin), Jose Cuevo (Tequila), Smirnoff (Vodka), so you've always got a drink available for your balcony. If you want a coffee in the morning, there's a well stocked selection and a coffee maker there too. Sadly, no Tea - but then they would need to stock 400 different types and brands of tea bags because none of us tea drinkers like the same tea! The bathroom area is open plan with a bath separating it from the room - there is no wall divide. 2 sinks are available, so you don't spit your toothpaste where she's plucking her top lip, and a large shower with enough space to shower and dry. The toilet is separate which is always welcome albeit it is very small - even with the door open conversation with your significant other sounds to you like you're sat in a brick box - which you kind of are. Moving back into the room, there's 2 options - a King Sized Bed, or 2 Doubles (Twins). They can offer the push the 2 doubles together, but we elected not to as it would render the single power outlet unusable, meaning no phone charges over night, and would lead to a single bed-side table which isn't ideal for us - to each his own though. There is a separate living space just 2 steps down from the bedroom, with it's own glass balcony. The living space contains a comfortable 2 seater couch and coffee table, and a small table with 2 chairs so you can enjoy a romantic Room Service Dinner together. The living area doesn't really have a great view of the TV, but then who needs the TV when you have that view! Opening the sliding doors you come out onto the balcony - this isn't a large space on these rooms (although there are larger), but it is enough space to sit and have a drink and enjoy the view before dinner, or in the morning. The rooms are well decorated and maintained, all painted white inside with purple soft furnishings, and pretty artwork on the walls, this really did become a home from home. The room has fully functioning air conditioning (switches off when doors are opened), which is complemented by a ceiling fan keeping the whole room generally cool - even in the heatwave we experienced. EATING & DRINKING - We're here to eat, drink and chill our way to our next holiday booking right? We used all restaurants except for Pepe's Grill and Krystal - no reason other than we didn't fancy it. Pepe's felt a bit too basic (we like to sit and eat at a table), and Krystal felt too fancy for us. So i'm covering the restaurants and bars we used.... FOOD: Don Julián - Buffet (Breakfast & Dinner) - Breakfast first - as far as breakfast buffet's go, this one is pretty extensive - whether you're into pastries, fruit, or more of a full english kind of person, there's something for everyone on this constant conveyor belt of food production. The only issue we ever had here was eggs - the fried eggs were a little under done, and the poached eggs were hit and miss between massively underdone and rock hard - we did discuss with the management and the situation did change, but it still wasn't right. Okay you're catering for hundreds of people, but the production line here just needs a little attention. Everything else though was perfect every day! Dinner (Evening meal), we were very well attended to by Eduard each night we ate here, an absolutel gem who greeted us with a smile and had our table ready for us. Again foodwise, there's something for everyone although there was a shortage in variation for the vegetarians among us. There was pizza, pasta, burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fajitas, tostitos, an extensive selection of meat and fish, cold cuts and cheeses. Then the desserts! Oh my word! The desserts were literally to die for, with the added extra of a chocolate fountain with marshmallows, which kept our 12 year old EXTREMELY happy! Guacamole - Buffet (Lunch & Snacks) - Pretty much this was more of the same sort of thing you could find in the evening buffet - but a bit less heavy and a little less variety (it is a smaller restaurant afterall). Service in here we were greeted each day by Fabiola, who was fantastic, so personable and tended to our every need! La Bodega - Mexican A-La-Carte (Dinner) - It wouldn't be a trip to Mexico without visiting a Mexican restaurant. Starters are a buffet style with plenty of mexican classics to choose from, chilli con carne, fajita etc. Main courses we just had to go for the tacos. These were amazing and so filling! We also tried the octopus between the table, and whilst this was perfectly cooked, it was smoothered in a sauce that was a little too spicy for me (and I like spicy food!). We loved La Bodega, and were only disappointed that we didn't have enough holiday for a second visit! Miyagi - Japanese A-La-Carte (Dinner) - Japanese restaurants are a staple of the All-Inclusive world, honestly I dont know why, it just is! Miyagi was a nice experience, though we felt a little rushed. One of our party had different starters to the rest and so finished first, staff cleared their plate and brought out their main course, which just didnt seem right (we're used to all finishing a course and then clearing away with a break between courses). We did raise this and it was acknolwedged that this isnt normal, so we must've caught them on a bad day. The food was nice, Ramen Duck Soup to start which was extremely tasty, and loads of it! Beef Terriyaki as the main, which was okay, but not a great cut of beef and not fully sliced - the intent was there but not fully executed. Don't get me wrong, the experience was nice and we would've gone back. Dolce Vita - Italian A-La-Carte (Dinner) - Honestly I wasn't massively impressed by the Italian. For an italian restaurant there wasn't a great deal of pasta, or even pizza on the menu. It was very middle of the road. Whilst the food was nice, there was nothing here we couldn't have had in the buffet. Steak House - A-La-Carte (Dinner) - This is located in the same restaurant as Guacamole, with a beachfront view. Subsequently it's the only a-la-carte without air conditioning. I skipped out on starters here as nothing took my fancy, and went for the Rib Eye for mains - asked for Medium, but came medium well, but that's fine. It came with a florette of brocoli, carrot and a minicob of sweetcorn, which for some unknown reason was cooked in a cinnamon sugar, very weird, but something they should stop doing. Lounge 24 - Snacks (24hrs) - this little room of joy was fantastic. Self service drinks and food, generally sandwiches, some cakes and pastries, hot dogs, burgers, chicken nuggets and wedges, all that fun stuff. Ideal for a quick snack before bed, or if your flight gets in late and you're not a fan of room service. Room Service (24hrs) - obviously this is for convenience, it's a very basic menu of sandwiches, nachos, cakes and fruit, though you can get breakfast delivered, we chose not to. Whilst nice, I would've liked to have seen more exican options here, like fajitas or a burrito perhaps? DRINKS: Cubano - Lobby Bar - this is a fanstastic place to meet family and friends for a pre and/or post dinner drink. The Piano is played each evening by a visiting pianist, playing all kinds of well known and lesser known classics. Be warned some folks may sing along and unfortunately one night, someone did very badly completely ruining I Dont Wanna Miss A Thing for everyone there. So if you do want to sing at the top of your voice, please make sure you have the voice for it. Drinks were plentiful and I didn't hear of anyone not being able to get something they liked, be that beer, spirits, cocktails, or something a little more exotic. Los Mariachis - Lounge & Bar - Here you will find the evening's entertainment and another bar for chilling out. We only visited once for the Michael Jackson Show, and just found it a little too dark. Capuchino - Coffee Bar & Cakes - We visited here almost every day, you can get coffee, hot chocolate, tea, milkshakes, ice cream, and cakes of all different types. If you get the chance, try the Chocolate Cake and Cocolate Milkshake, they're to DIE for! My wife had the little Mango Mousse Pyramid every day, and she absolutely loved them! Well recommended! El Palmeral - Pool Bar - ignoring the swim up bar, which is adults only, and is questionable about the water content (people sit and drink all day and never get out), there is a walk-up part to this bar on the rear side, with seating area. We came down here on our first evening for a quick drink by the beach. It was very relaxing, and the service was impecable! ENTERTAINMENT: No trip to an all-inclusive resort would be complete without an amazing entertainment programme. The evening entertainment is the typical sort of corny stuff you'd expect from a resort such as this, MJ, Grease, ABBA, this is in addition to visiting live bands and soloists. It's easy to avoid though if it's not your kind of thing, and is never in your face. The daytime entertainment though provided by the team is amazing, they work so hard its untrue, throughout the day there is always something going on, obviously with the exception of when they break for their well deserved lunch time. I will make a special mention to RIU Fit King Gustavo, who ran the AquaGym on most days, his charm and charisma had everyone involved. Me being a larger fella was a bit nervous about getting stuck in, but he gave me a suitable amount of attention that spurred me on and made me feel AMAZING about myself. I even joined him on the pool side on our last day before leaving, and saw just how HOT it gets up there - not only did he keep me active, but he also helped me to gain only 6lbs throughout the whole holiday! Thank you Gustavo you made my holiday what it was (and turned me into a minor celebrity - for those reading who were there, yes i am THAT Andy). GROUNDS Some reviews on varying platforms say that this hotel is old and dated and in need of refurbishment - whilst they are getting a refurb in 2026, we didn't see it as a neccessity - what we saw in the grounds of the hotel in its entirity is a well loved and well maintained hotel - not a single day went by that staff weren't cleaning, mowing, tidying, pruning, and lopping the various parts of the hotel. These guys deserve a raise as it's a thankless task - they really are the hidden gems of the RIU Palace Mexico. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone, even before refurb its a jewel in the crown of the RIU Fleet, and we cannot wait to return after the refurb!
Absolutely fantastic hotel. 2nd time of staying and won’t be our last. Beautiful setting, fantastic service from all staff, including reception, gardeners, cleaners, waiting staff and bar staff. Great food. Ate in all restaurants and none were a disappointment.
We had a brilliant holiday here. It’s definitely a step up from the other standard RIU hotels. We pretty much visited the other hotels too and we loved the White & Neon parties at the Tequila across the road. The staff here are ace, from the entertainment, cleaners, bar staff and all the others that make your stay so special. I would like to mention Havi & Pascal at the pool bar. They are genuinely lovely & attentive bar staff, and we always looked forward to our daily greeting of “Hello family”. The hotel really should cherish those two staff members. All the lovely extras like the 24 hour food & the coffee shop with lovely sandwiches & cakes was great too. In addition we loved all the themed restaurants & the food quality is excellent here. There are always ways that hotels can improve & I know others have mentioned it needed a refurbishment. I believe that is due to happen next year & they should rethink the bedroom design when doing so. The clientele are quite laid back here compared to other hotels we have stayed in. The entertainment staff do work hard, especially Daniel. But unfortunately, he is let down by a couple of the women on his team who are physically present but socially absent. This is in stark contrast to what we have seen from holidays in a similar property level by Bahia Principe. We actually suggested how to improve the silent disco. Each member of the animation team should pick one of the three DJ’s & dance and promote each of them & then get the clients involved. This would make it a bit more interesting and make it competitive, involving the customers. More needs to be done to encourage the customers as they probably are more reserved than the clientele in the Tequila. Nevertheless, as we were holidaying as two families, we had a great time together. Also, the hotel needs to find better room keys than the plastic cards. Every single day at least one of them managed to deactivate. Other nearby hotels that we stayed in previously had keys linked to your actual bracelet. Those worked a lot better than these. We would come back, as the beach, amenities and vibe are ace!
