Sonesta Emeryville San Francisco Bay Bridge

I searched for a hotel in the area at a more reasonable price than we’ve paid before. Sonesta was much more reasonable, and from the very beginning, we were welcomed and accommodated. We had traveled a ways, and they let us check in early. The room was vey nice and more than we anticipated.

Room had a nice view of San Francisco, and the bed was comfy.

Room was ... oddly laid out — absolutely massive bathroom (with no fan) but the door swing made the already narrow entryway into the room very cramped. Bed was also weirdly close to the wall, so 2 people in here would feel tight even though apart from that the room was of a good size?

Spacious, clean, comfortable room. There’s a super cute shopping area across the street, and a movie theater, with lots of restaurants. It’s our new go to hotel for visiting our daughter at Cal. Highly recommend and will be back.

Great staff, all very personable. Fantastic location! Mall with movie theaters across the street. Trader Joe's right next store in another shopping center. Easy walk to the train station was a plus. I would stay here again.

Well, I had a bay view room, but mine was only on the 4th floor, I would have preferred one further up, but such a very small complaint.

We stayed for v 10 days and each morning woke with the itchiest bed bites, confirmed as such by physician, Mike the manager refused to acknowledge the problem, and refused us a refund. Area was creepy and will never ever ever go back. Please note, we are Sonesta gold star magnets from boston, but this hotel should be stripped of its name

Location cannot be beat!

For a hotel next to the freeway, it’s very good. Half the rooms have a view of the Berkeley hills, where you can make out the UC Berkeley bell tower (campanile). These rooms are away from the freeway. The San Francisco Bay view is great; you can see the bay bridge, the skyline of San Francisco behind it, the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

Lovely stay and I’m very particular…. Rarely is the first room I’m offered spot on for me… and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the room that I was assigned. Breakfast was pricey but worth it… very tasty. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel had old interior. Bed was mediocre. The hallway had a very strong scent most likely to mask the musky smell. I would not recommend this place.

Miguel at the front desk was great, the room was clean, the bath tub was not leveled correct and a big puddle of water will remain after taking a shower, some of the furniture was chipped and didn’t look appealing, I got a bay view room, and it was disappointed to find the window was like 30 inches tall! It was a joke, I was expecting almost from floor to ceiling especially since we pay extra to get this view!

Great hotel but did not service room every day. Only upon request and has to be the night before. That should be an every day standard.

They cleaned my bathroom but did not make my bed. Considering the price, that was very off putting. Also I wish they had had free coffee in the lobby

Located in a safe and good location. Free local bus service around Emeryville and to Bart Line. Amtrack station, food courts and Bay St plaza, across from the hotel. Front Desk friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Trader Joes supermarket and the Black Bear and Burger King.

The pool should be deeper then 3.5 m in the middle. The water pressure in the shower was low for my liking. and the bath tub was small and not deep enough.

I am very disappointed and unsatisfied with the hotel l hope you will offer something better in the future.

Great location

We love coming to Sonesta Emeryville, but we have noticed that it needs some maintenance in the bathrooms, etc. Some improvements need to be made to maintain the same quality as always.

We were greeted at the desk as we walked in with a gentleman that was so polite, informative, and very helpful. The housekeeper was so nice and provided us with everything we needed. There was a new employee at the desk, but she was informative and gave us info on things to do and greatplaces to shop. If I come back out here to San Francisco, I will definitely stay here again.

We checked in around 7 to head to dinner. I got to the room to start getting ready. We noticed the room was extremely cold and even after changing the thermostat was still cold. My boyfriend realized the window was open and broken. We called and were asked a lot of questions instead of just having someone come up. We were rushed to change rooms so I stopped getting ready to change rooms. Our room was lower level but had a great view of the water. We asked that our replacement have the same view and were promised we would and that our parking would be comped for the inconvenience. Our new room had no view at all. Upon check out I had to let the desk clerk know of the parking situation, as it wasn't put in the notes. Also, the incidentals seem very high for the quality of the hotel.

I love this hotel , it’s clean, convenient and above all the staff are amazing, I booked a hotel and had this Idea of surprise my friend was his birthday, so I wanted to decorate the room without him knowing, so I went early to check in and after checking in, talked to the staff at front desk about what I want to do, decorating the room then I will go out later then come back with my boyfriend, and act like we just go there and pretend like their helping me check in, so that my boyfriend won’t notice anything, he agreed he ( my bad I didn’t catch their names) but he was a supervisor he even tell other front desk staff so that by the time we got there for the second time he might not be at the front desk who ever will be there won’t blow out the suprise and act weird like why are you checking in you have already checked in. Suprise went well he didn’t notice anything. I really recommend this hotel if you’re or planning to be in the Bay Area.❤️💙

Was totally adequate for our "just there to skeep" stay. Very sparse and limited ambuances.

The lobby looked beautiful, however our bathroom was not updated. The pool was not heated and breakfast was limited to 3 choices and took more than 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Same for dinner.

Staff was very friendly. Check-in and check-out was efficient and pleasant. Room was rough around the edges. Windows were so filthy you could barely see out. Bathroom was poorly lit. Carpet was wet in one spot and felt grimy in others. Room is small and crowded. Bed was comfortable. Except for windows and carpet, room was clean.

First of all, my room was given to another guest because they had an event that weekend and they double-booked rooms, hoping someone would cancel or not show up. I spent 1 hour in their lobby trying to check in, and they offered me another room that was not comparable to the one I reserved. The front desk person was not helpful or courteous and had an attitude. Second, the noise and the smell made the stay uncomfortable and unenjoyable.

The incredible view of the bay and San Francisco from the 11th floor!

The hotel is a tiny bit dated but since I had that incredible view from the 11th floor where I could sit at my desk and look out over the San Francisco Bay, all is more than forgiven!

My stay at the Emeryville Sonesta was fantastic, the staff was excellent. The check-in and check-out was efficient and the room had a beautiful view of the Oakland Hills

High quality compared to others nearby

Everything was fine until check out. I was doube charged and a lot of extra fees were added. I do wish there had been a decent coffee maker in the room and a microwave. Also, to get housekeeping service you have to request in advance like at check in. They don't mention that .

I called customer service to inquire why they charged me $22.42, and they simply said they didn't know. They then put the phone aside and on hold with music and wait for long time ....him never to get back. I haven't heard from him since.

Our room smelled horrible...from smoke to weed to mustiness. The sink was also completely clogged. You also don't get refills on your coffee and tea without a request...and the water bottles are $9?

The staff was very friendly and courteous. I really appreciated the waiter who gave me a free coffee even though I didn’t buy breakfast.

Only one small nit, the shower did not have enough bodywash.

I like how close it is to shops and dining/snacks options. It is close enough to UC Berkeley which is handy for visiting family members of students.

Sonesta is the 1st hotel I've been to where they do not clean your room unless you request it. And the request must be at least 1 day in advance. The hotel itself is old and tired, and the staff was not particularly friendly or helpful. Upon checking out, I had to ask for a payment receipt several times before they gave it to me. I paid $277/night for 2 nights (plus $25/day parking and $10/day facility fee) during move-in week for UC Berkeley, and it was definitely not worth the price paid.
