I was left with a terrible impression of the hotel because they charged a $200 deposit, which was frozen. A few days later, the $200 was changed to $137. I’ve written to the hotel, but they haven’t responded. Everything was definitely fine—nothing was damaged—so the reason is unclear.

I liked the entire ambience of the hotel. There were nice places to sit inside the lobby and outside by the street. The rooms were very clean, including the bath and the bedding. It was so pleasant to stay in a room that was tastefully decorated and large and relaxing. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good with scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, French toast, fresh fruit salad, lots of variety of breads, English muffins, cereals, steel cut oatmeal, etc. One thing that was unusual was that the heating/cooling system was central and stayed a very pleasant temperature with not a lot of noise. Location was great to get to Berkeley. Staff was very nice and accommodating.

Parking at the hotel was $40 and across the street $25.

Breakfast was very good. Parking is an extra $45 on top of the hefty room price.

A bit expensive but my seminar was there so staying made it easy to get there at 8 AM. The strange thing was that the power kept going out in my room, just for 20-30 seconds at a time. This happened 3-4 times when I was there and left me sitting in darkness.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast far exceeded my expectations. There was a variety of food, and the food was very good. Parking was very convenient.

Harena at the front desk was so kind and helpful. She was able to arrange a late check-out since my Amtrak train was leaving for Portland later in the day. She also recommended a wonderful Mexican restaurant that I visited two days in a row!! Great location for those traveling on Amtrak.

Great location and a clean, modern hotel. Some rooms have a lovely view of San Francisco and the bay. The breakfast was great and the room was clean and comfortable. There was a fridge for guest use, which was most appreciated. Parking of $40 around the hotel seemed a bit pricey but there was another option, albeit less convenient. Overall a great stay.

Location was great. Front desk ok when arrived so so. When departed at 5:00 am Gentleman very helpful. I was using cane and very helpful. You should have luggage holder at back for people parking in Handicap parking.

Service was minimal. Bartender did the food service along with tending the bar.

Decent stay at this Hyatt Place. Convenient location with shopping and eats close by. Spacious lobby area and good room layout. Had issues with tv and ac in the room. Also beware that there are no ev chargers available even though it is a listed amenity.

Room was clean. Felt new. Smelled new. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were great.

I liked the location, it is close to a lot in terms of shopping/dining. Easy to get to and the room was nice. The breakfast was really good and everyone found something they liked.

I didnt like having to park across the street with children and all our bags, it wasn't far, but it's inconvenient.

Expensive parking. And mostly that the booking used a deceptive offer of "insurance" which, when I declined... Processed the FULL amount of my stay, months ahead of time!! This is rarely done , I'm used to paying a few days ahead or upon arrival!!!

Need to improve room cleanness, there were crumbles on my carpet and table from previous guests. Could hear every noise at the hall and the next room's toilet.

Water leak from the ceiling to our room woke us up at 2:00am and totally destroyed our vacation

The location is good if arriving by Amtrak, there are several hotels in the area. Buffet breakfast included was average, pre cooked but plentiful. The bus stop around the corner on Shellmound convenient to get into San Francisco (F) but if arriving by Amtrak, they have buses which take you in if pre booked and you have a hotel booked there. Lots of restaurants nearby you can walk to.

The WiFi is abysmal. The staff are disinterested in engaging with guests, there was an erroneous charge for drinks put on our room but removed when challenged.

"Unauthorized Charge After Checkout – Hyatt and Booking.com Need to Resolve This Together" I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Hyatt Place Emeryville and the way this billing dispute has been handled. I booked my stay through Booking.com (Confirmation Number: 6552063614) from May 15–19, 2026. However, I checked out early on May 17, 2026. At checkout, the hotel calculated my final balance, collected payment in full, and provided a final receipt and billing statement confirming that my stay had ended and all charges were settled. After I had already checked out and received a final paid receipt, an additional charge was processed without my authorization. This directly contradicts the final documentation issued by the hotel. When I contacted Hyatt Place Emeryville, I was told to resolve the matter with Booking.com because the reservation was made through a third-party platform. However, this response ignores the fact that the hotel itself accepted my checkout, finalized my account, and issued the final receipt. The disputed charge occurred after the hotel closed my folio. As a guest, I should not be caught between the hotel and Booking.com while both parties deny responsibility. The reservation may have been made through Booking.com, but the hotel managed the checkout process, issued the final receipt, and processed the charges. I am requesting that Hyatt Place Emeryville and Booking.com work together to investigate this matter, provide a detailed explanation for the post-checkout charge, and issue an appropriate refund if the charge cannot be justified. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend this hotel due to the lack of accountability and the difficulty in obtaining a clear explanation regarding billing practices. We totally recommend Emeryville Hyatt for anyone visiting the bay area! It is the complete package - the location the people working there and the ambience.

Convenient, I was able to park very close to the Hotel entry, and the room and breakfast were lovely.

Most parking was a distance from hotel.

The wifi is terrible. We can't connect to internet most of the four days we were staying. The staff's attitude at the front desk is very rude and not helpful. We don't mind to pay for parking. But park at building and walked all the way back to the hotel. That is too much.

Hotel was clean

The price was extremely expensive. I have stayed at this hotel before and paid half of what I paid this time. Not sure if I'll be staying here anymore if the price is too high. Too bad hotels raise prices and take advantage of holidays, graduations, etc. I will most likely stay with family next time I'm in the bay area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Place. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere made it easy to relax and feel at home. Definitely a great place to stay, and we would happily come back again!

Accommodation from every aspect was delightful! Loved the bed and walk in shower! Even got given free water! Receptionist were so helpful!!

Needed improvement: Yoga mats in gym, front staff knowledge on elevators to cross train tracks, accessible composting/recycling at the hotel, clean tables at breakfast, sewing kits at front desk without needing to replenish, paper maps at front desk, ability to use pool or gym facilities at nearby Hyatt House, alacrity granting late checkout so one did not have to request multiple times and wait for answer and effectiveness in addressing noise complaints in middle of night. My husband has the Hyatt credit card. We are both members. He was not traveling with me this time but we are very local Hyatt members and I asked for late checkout (typical 2pm) upon check-in. I was told 1pm and then called the next day and begrudgingly got 1:30pm after it was “extended” to 1pm. Maybe you should have ability to link rewards officially for families? Front desk did not know if Emeryville composts. Said that if composting was in trash, it would be sorted by staff, which seemed highly sus. Clearly marked recycling, composting containers in common areas and rooms and actual recycling and composting would be helpful. Breakfast ran out of reusable cups so people used more disposable ones.

Clean, safe, comfortable and convenient new hotel. I would recommend it. The bay view faces the bay while the other side faces the mountains. Two options for parking. Wondeful front desk staff and housekeeping crew!

You can't beat it for convenience if you're traveling by Amtrak--it's across a pedestrian bridge (with elevator) from the station. I wish I'd had time to go to a grocery--nice kitchenette in the rooms.

I had a seminar to attend at the hotel, so it was easy. They were helpful in letting me store my cooler behind the front counter until the end of the day. In general, staff were all really friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, with a sitting area and a very comfortable bed.
