Convenient location. Very clean and excellent reception staff
Limited veggie menu
Very good
Food in restaurants needs to be more varied
Gym and spa
No air con.
Good location and good facilities.
Value for money.
Lift not working. No a/c in rooms.
Nice staff, and very clean.
The level of noise coming from the other rooms, very thin walls.
Great staff with great food
The bed, clean hotel
The lift broke down n I had to carry my box.
The breakfast was lovely. Plenty of choice, all nice and fresh, but what made it great was the staff, they were so friendly and helpful.
Everything was wonderful.
Every thing was as I expected 💯💯💯
My only concern was there wasnt ice machine on the floor you have to go to the bar for ice
Clean tidy helpful staff not to happy with self check in on the screens, last thing want to do after long drive is be messing about with screens
Check in with screens, then having to pay separately for parking
Very good breakfast but had to wait for food to be replenished. Staff very friendly and helpful. Fan useful. Room was beautiful and very fresh and clean. Bed was super comfy.
Wifi did not work for the last day which was inconvenient. No armchair or small table in room and no cosy areas to sit downstairs and have a drink in a quiet place. More geared up for young people now. 2 people booking but room only set up for 1. No phone in room .. we do not have smart phones so had to keep going down to reception..
Clean and Comfortable room, Comfortable bed Tea and coffee making facilities. Iron and ironing board in the room, also a Hairdryer We didn't use the pool but took a look at it and it looks like a nice pool, it's is chargeable to use it We used the restuarant, usually pub menu, very good breakfast, gluten free cornflakes available, also gluten free toast, hash brown's and sausage on request. The staff were very friendly
The hotel is a bit of a maze, but soon got orientated.
Didn't have breakfast. Location was good to where we wanted to go.
Menu didn't have much choice for people with smaller appetites, everything large portions. Having to pay for parking.
Nice Bathroom and the bed was comfortable did you renovate
Room was clean and suitable for requirements. Breakfast was good, the dining area is spacious. Items replenished quickly. We were there for an event which including evening dining. The table service was very good and they were able to cater for dietary requirements without any issues.
Had booked early check-in but our rooms weren't ready at the time requested, we were allocated others fairly quickly but in different parts of the hotel. This was disappointing.
Location ok near to my family and restaurant we used
Bathroom in our room 110 needed a deep clean especially under the sink was very dirty and one pillowcase had marks in it good job we had other pillows
not a lot
all
The facilities are great and good value for money. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
There were works taking place and banging early as we woke up. Otherwise all good.
The bed was quite comfortable once you had managed to get into it.
The room was meant to be for 2 people but there was only 1 chair which meant my husband had to sit on the bed which was rather high and difficult to get into later to go to bed. There was no heating system or air conditioning in the room which meant it was quite cold. The lighting in the room was very poor. Although there was a large desk this was topped by the flat screen TV so the mirror was against the far wall which made it difficult to apply makeup and fix your hair properly. There was very little storage space in the room. Unlike most hotels there was no safe or mini-fridge.
Clean, good food, excellent value for money
Nothing
Staff were very helpful
Loved the restaurant breakfast and the rooms very clean and modern
Swimming pool was slightly cold for me and no hot tub working but still good
Medium
Beds to high. No air con very hot indoors. Bar prices for Dudley to high. Main meal not to write about.
The staff and function room
No Air Con in function room
Convenient and good location
Late hours from people in corridors
the room was clean
all of the extra things I needed to purchase: Car park gym coffee and tea the TV had a poor picture and blind spots so although they had improved the ascetics the electrics were not up to the same standard.
Love it
All of it
Friendly staff
I was very disappointed to be given a disabled room when I had specifically booked an able-bodied room. When I questioned reception, I was told this was due to the hotel refurbishment, but I was not informed beforehand. The toilet was also extremely inconvenient, as the button was positioned behind the lid, causing it to repeatedly fall down. Overall this was not the room or experience I had booked. I would expect better communication and consideration for guests.
The location was good and the facilities within the hotel was excellent
This is the second time I have stayed here in he last month for work purposes and again in the morning from 8am there was loud noise coming from somewhere. It sounded like banging or building works happening. I was not warned about this t the time of booking or when I checked in if works where happening on site. Was unable to sleep in.
The room, gym, sauna etc and reception staff were helpful and nice.
The property was nice, I tried a yoga class , what I found disappointing was the non stop chatter during the class.
Nice hotel good decor in room friendly afternoon receptionist local cinema and food outlets close to motorway network
It was very central for what we required it for and was very clean and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was fab.
In our rooms there was no air con and we had a fan it was so warm so much so I woke up with a bad head.
The breakfast was great and the beds were comfy however the room had no aircon and it was very warm.
No air con in the room.
It’s right where we needed it to be, and did appreciated having a Starbucks and the staff were friendly.
Our room was right near the outside dining/drinking area and on Saturday night people had booked a table outside till 12am. It was pretty loud and wasn’t very soundproof, we couldn’t sleep until they left which was annoying as we had to get up pretty early the next day. Unfortunately because of this I probably wouldn’t stay when we next need to be in Dudley.
Clean, Modern and Comfy rooms
Staying in a hotel and still need to pay for parking each day
Any village always been great stay just a shame there was things going on like early morning maintenance which was unaware off
Has clearly just had a refurb and the finish was fantastic. Beds and bedding super comfortable and have done a really good job
Aircon had an issue with an error code. We arrived late to the property so would have normally asked for some assistance or it could have just genuinely been myself. But was too late for all that messing around. Made the hotel aware in the morning who apologised and sent a maintenance man up straight away.
Good accessible shower
No air conditioning
Had a nice bar
Nothing
We did not have the breakfast
The shower tray flooded with water within a minute so could not have a proper shower. The sink unit was very high and uncomfortable to use, I am an average height person. The layout of the rooms was not clearly sign posted even some staff did not know. The hotel its self is nice but the closing and banging of doors went on until the early hours which disturbed our sleep. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and have never paid for the privilege of parking in the car park.
Staff rooms
Hotel was lovely
No air conditioning absolutely boiling made my partner feel really unwell had a pokey fan so we ask for another fan in the room when they brought this tower fan it didnt work properly couldn't feel nothing coming out . Also the price seems good until you get the phone call about paying the car park and paying to use spa facilities such as the pool when most hotels parking is free aswell as their spa facilities. Wont stay here again in the summer unless they install air con
Reasonably priced.
No Aircon in the rooms so a sleepless night in ridiculously hot conditions. Waited at the bar for 20 minutes for staff to appear to serve us when we returned from a show. Would not stay at Village Hotels again.
Comfortable bed and appreciated the aircon in the heatwave. Incidentally only the newer part of the building has aircon but you can’t specify it. Room is nice and modern. EV charging facility via IONITY was very good too.
Paying £7.50 for parking as a resident isn’t great. Prices are a bit steep for what you get.
Professional hardworking staff. Great breakfast. Super comfortable bed and great shower
Noisy parties
Great hotel and lovely staff and receptionists. A newly refurbished room but air con not working and no tv on the first night. They gave us fans and a small refund for both nights.
Everything
Very helpful
Staff very polite and helpful, I've got a disabled partner and they went above and beyond to help us, all your staff, very, very comfortable beds, we didn't want to get out of them to go home.
A bit confusing as we were on the second floor in 252 and 254, didn't know were to go to our rooms, that's all, no other negatives, definitely not.
10/10
Excellent value for money, really enjoyed the stay. No issues checking in or out. Staff were friendly & attentive. Room was clean. Very happy with hotel. Also being in a good location for what we needed.
Staff were extremely helpful Clean room and all facilities were well maintained.
I always go there Closer to my church venue
The rooms were not cleaned for the three nights we were there
The room was very clean and comfortable.
There was only one large towel and two people staying. I know we could have requested another at reception but I feel like another one should have been provided anyway. Also the staff in the bar weren't particularly friendly.
Break fast was good if you had it 1st thing . Was in warming containers
Thought it was free parking . Got charged £10 for 2 nights
beds were very comfortable and everything was clean and tidy
No air con Windows only open about 15cm Noisy road Doors slamming constantly through the night Terrible nights sleep
We spent one night here as we were visiting the Black Country Living Museum which is very close by. The hotel itself is well presented and we had a nice meal in the bar and grill on site. Breakfast (which is extra) was also good. The hotel room was small and stuffy. There was a fan, but no air con. We kept the window open at night to let air in, but were then woken at 8AM with pumping bass, I assume was from the gym. We paid extra to use the pool, which was a great facility. Parking was also an additional cost. I believe that there is an option to pay for a deal where they are both included. I feel that the price is a little inflated considering what you actually get at this hotel. We had a nice stay, but wouldn't be rushing back.
cleanliness and tidyness
no air conditioning within the room
Clean, good parking and well staffed
Breakfast finished by 9am without any warning given on check in and even though a family room was booked the beds were incredibly high- my 2 year old fell off in the middle of the night!
Excellent
We stayed one night and it was a fantastic hotel it's got a great atmosphere the staff are all lovely, the breakfast is great . Also it's got a great gym and a fab swimming pool with sauna / hot tubs .. we will definitely come back it's great
The comfortable beds,clean,the leisure facilities
Some rooms are refurbished and some are not yet
Comfortable, clean, friendly staff.
Far far too hot. No Aircon. Wouldn't come back in summer! Could not sleep.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable rooms.
Very noisy, doors slamming, people in next room with TV on loud. You could hear people stomping around in the room above me. All this till 2.00am . Very little sleep. Various light switches took some working out which did which lights.
This is one of my favourite hotels for a quick visit. Good value, nice atmosphere and located close to shops and transport. Staff are always pleasant and helpful
The staff are very welcoming and friendly and me and my partner really enjoyed the room.
N/A
Huge and nice
Nothing really
This was our second stay at The Village in Dudley and again used it as it is so close to the Black Country Museum which we were revisiting The deal for 2 nights included a voucher towards dinner, breakfast and use of the pool. The hotel is advertising that rooms are being upgraded and the room we were allocated certainly needs it. Since staying last year all the old problems remain whilst prices have increased! The rooms are very basic, look tired, have no Fridge, limited storage and more importantly as many have reported no Air Con. Upon entering the room, we were hit with a wall of warmth that never seemed to go. They did have a Dyson fan in operation but this was next to useless. We also found another fan on a shelf opposite the Bathroom but again this did very little to help. The other issue at the hotel, and its one we found last year is that although there is a smoker’s area at the end of the hotel smokers and vapers totally ignore this and congregate outside the main entrance and on the seats on the walkway. Although security staff are on duty no one stops them. This means if your room is above this area you can’t open your windows unless you want obnoxious smoke or vape fumes wafting into your room as well as a lot of noise. The heat was intolerable at times but as we didn’t want our room to stink (or indeed our clothes) it meant the windows were rarely open. As the England game was on and the hotel was very crowded even more people were standing outside at times so it was even worse. It is also clear by the amount of discarded dog ends on the wall beneath the windows that many smokers who stay in the hotel disregard the rules and smoke in the rooms. I have no issue with people who want to pay a lot of money to damage their health and stink in the process whilst thinking it is somehow cool but it’s not right that those of us who don’t can’t even relax in our room with the windows open! Moving on the food in the bar is ok without being anything special and the Breakfast adequate. The hotel is so handy for the Museum, Zoo and Castle and the staff so good that it is a shame the basic room, Air Conditioning and ignorant unresticted smokers let it down, it would also appear that since our last visit local youths now seem to be attracted to the large car park to ride their bikes and rev there cars up, it did make us feel a little unsafe one evening on venturing out. I would recommend the Hotel if they get the refurb completed Air Con installed, Fridges in rooms and the Smoking policy sorted but probably would not visit again myself if it wasn’t.
Convenient location
No air con in the room it was roasting Did have 2 fans but they realy made no difference at all
Very nice room , a lot of changes are going on in the hotel
No air conditioning in the room , windows barely to open . Staff on the visit not very polite and friendly Invoice made on incorrect amount and refused to help Breakfast very poor options
Comfy beds, one staff member helpful, good shower pressure
Noisy, hotter than the Sun, noisy,no air conditioning, did I say noisy? Horrible hotel, how and why anyone stays here is anyone’s guess.
I have stayed in some pretty dreadful hotels in my time (please see my review for The Grand in Scarborough if you don’t believe me). This place pushes for a place near the top, particularly as it is the only hotel I have ever left before my stay was done (the lady who booked us out did not bat an eyelid nor ask why we were going early - perhaps it’s a regular occurrence?). The only things that save it from a one star review is the bed (comfy), the lad who moved us from our original room (the only helpful staff member employed there it seems) and the shower pressure (jet hose, which was good for me but I accept is a 50/50 thing). I should have guessed that this was going to be a poor experience when the phone calls/emails started in the days beforehand, trying the hard sell on extras. Yet I’d have paid anything to have the one extra they do not have - air conditioning. The rooms are very similar to what Alec Guinness suffered in that box in “The Bridge on the River Kwai” - although he did not have to cope with the additional factors of a tower fan that produced less air than a mouse farting, a nearby road that doubled up for Brands Hatch, and some clown walking/running/doing god knows what on the ceiling above throughout the night. I will accept it was one of the heatwave days, however it is clear from the many bad reviews (and there are many, heed the warnings!) that the heat of these rooms has been flagged time and time again - and all you get (as I no doubt will) is some insipid response thanking for bringing it to their attention and then doing nothing about it. If you’re the sort of person who loves to sleep in a noisy oven then this is the place for you! For anyone else, stay ANYWHERE but here. Well, maybe not the Grand…
Loction was good. Did not have any breakfast
No tea selection
All good
I was attending a function there so convenient
to many people walking in and out guests gym pool workmen it was chaos at times. Lift was broke. Far to noisy everytime someone took a step in room above floor squeaked bad not good at 5am very hot and could not leave windows open due to busy road and road works outside
room clean, good breakfast
very warm in room, no air com
Public and grill reasonable prices good atmosphere
Room was very warm and therefore uncomfortable to sleep
Breakfast staff were really nice and helpful and breakfast was delicious! Issue with lift on arrival so as we are disabled we were escorted to the service lift. I had received a courtesy y call the day before to inform me also which I thought was considerate.
No lift. A lot of prom noise. Gym users parking in blue badge spaces when they are not disabled! If that was a public car park they would get a ticket.
Modern clean and a relaxing environment
N/a throughly enjoyed our stay
Room decor
Only one lift which was broken. Charged for parking. No grab rail in shower.
Starbucks and gym, clean room
Starbucks staff in the hotel were miserable, but apart from that all ok
Everything was excellent 👍
Nothing
The hotel was lovely, food was good, bar staff very friendly and attentive. The bar area looked great especially for the football. Hotel room was spacious and A/C was great. TV in room was a great size. Bed. Very comfortable and slept well. The general feel from the hotel felt superior.
After a 4hr drive and feeling a little dehydrated from the heat (35’c), the self serve check in wasn’t favoured unfortunately. The assistance provided could have been better, given that I possibly did look rather stressed. No help with directions to room and the lift was out of order. So immediate impressions weren’t great. A little shy with the available coffee in the room. Bed could have done with some cushions to sit more comfortably when watching TV. The TV seemed to have restrictions so couldn’t connect Netflix etc.
Always have a great time when visiting & staying here. Room was spotless as always and food was really good.
Well what can I say me and my husband went to the pub and grill for late lunch and I can honestly say we wasn't disappointed Michelle Holly Tyler was so professional very polite and made us both feel welcome the food was excellent well done to kitchen staff will be going again im sure
Every thing was great.
Lift was broken, so stairs where a problem
Room was spacious and clean enough. Would recommend it for a short stay.
Sometimes due to limited availability, early check in is not available and that can cause problems. However there is enough space in the lobby and the Starbucks Coffee Shop to spend some time or work on your leptop.
Putting aside no Air conditioning (it's broken) and the heatwave we're having. The staff have been lovely especially Rachel (the lady from Dublin), she is so friendly, helpful and patient, she is an asset to your team. Rachel, you're doing an excellent job. Thank you very much, Mark (Eon engineer)
Breakfast was very good value - ample choice and all kept warm under heated cloches. Pool was a great way to relax at the end of the day and good facilities including sauna, steam room, hot tub., etc. Had a tour of the gym (but did not use) and it seemed very well equipped. Great food just across the parking area at The Castle View
No air-con in the room, and considering it was warm when we stayed, it was a tad uncomfortable. The windows had security cords allowing them only to be opened 4". There were 2 desk type fans in the room and we had to leave both on when we were in the room, and all night, to make the room comfortable. Food in restaurant was over priced. We, and others that were staying there, did not eat evening meal there. Preferring instead to visit the Castle View that was considerably cheaper, and where there was a better menu choice.
The time away. And the room was great 😃
Nothing
Good breakfast and gym
Room was unbearabley hot, shower leaked and head was moldy. No aircon or extraction. Decor was depressing, well worn and stained. Whole second floor smelt like a chip pan.
Clean and very comfortable room, beds were great and pillows too!
No air con and no fridge so was cooling drinks in cold water in sink. We were there on a hot day so room was boiling
room a little dull television reception not good
Don't bother with the overpriced small portions of the so called pub and grill. Service was brilliant, pity the food did not match, a curry with no curry flavour, cod in batter very thin and not cooked all the way through, portions very small, puddings the same, tasty but tiny, the room echo 's like crazy, so loud you can't hear the person next to you, telly blazing out. Won't be returning
Lovely hotel, right from when you turn into the carpark the surroundings are very pretty and you wouldnt think you are in the middle of a town and there are so many mature trees surrounding the hotel. The bar is bright and airy and we enjoyed drinks and breakfast here. There is also a Starbucks in the hotel, but who wants to drink coffee when they have Corona beer on tap!! We had booked a Club room which came with a coffee machine and pods and i believe is slightly bigger tham a standard room and the bathroom had a supply of shower gel and seperate shampoo and conditioner. The only down side was the noisy neighbours coming back to their rooms after a wedding and the noisy from the Gym at 8am so no lie in for us. The buffet breakfast was delicious and the staff kept everything topped up and were cooking eggs to order.
All facilities included were to a high standard very clean and welcoming
Clean spacious
Nothing
The staff were absolutely delightful, super helpful and friendly the whole time both my husband and I were there - they simply couldn't do enough and were very sweet. Room was comfortable enough although fairly basic for a 'club room' however we did enjoy the benefits
The lift was out of order which was a little unfortunate as I arrived straight from our wedding (still in my dress!) two flights of stairs in a bridal gown was an interesting start to the honey moon but we could see the funny side of it.
