Great hotel we have used on a few occasions for Villa Park around 30 minutes walk. Basic but functional rooms, clean, good bathrooms. Staff are excellent. Parking onsite for a fee.
Great stay not far from ICC for work.
Extractor fan had not shutoff so was on all night in the bathroom. Heating was via a radiator in the room which didn't seem to change with the controls so the room was hot, the bathroom was cold. There was no iron in the room so I rang reception. I had to go and get it myself along with an ironing board that I had to cart across the hotel and up the lift. When I used the shower, the water leaked through the shower base, through the wall (!) and into the doorway and outside hall. I reported it to reception as there is an obvious issue there. It took around 15 minutes to pay for my parking as the touch screen app did not work so I had to sign up online on my phone and do it there. There were plenty of parking spaces though. You get what you pay for. Some of these issues were beyond their control, others are probably the expectations of a low budget hotel. If this stuff bugs you, don't stop there. If you want a cheap room with a cheaper experience, it does the job.
helpful and welcoming reception staff. Lovely behind hotel as sits on canal, but area around front entrance a bit run down. Convenient location, would stay there again
Excellent stay, bar and food great, staff really helpful. Just a couple of observations for improvement. In the room there’s a desk/dressing table with electrical sockets but no mirror and a mirror on the wall with no socket for your tongs/straighteners but there would be no where to stand them anyway - you would have to use the floor. There are only bath towels not bath sheets so they are really small. There is no hand towel so no towel to wrap your washed hair in. I think at least one hand towel is a basic necessity in every room.
It’s very noisy all through the night. Staff not very helpful.
Very tired, the bed in room 208 needs to go to the skip!!
Fantastic customer service by Sam on reception.
Friendly welcoming staff at reception & bar. The hotel has been refurbished since we last stayed & it's vastly improved the rooms & all areas. Only suggestion for improvement would be 2 pillows & bigger towels, but otherwise enjoyed our stay & would stop again
Was taken aback to find that one is now expected to pay a daily rate for parking. For two nights i was told to enter on (unfriendly) touch screen, up to three days - i later discovered I was charged for 3 nights parking. On asking about this I was told to refer to parking provider, didn't really appeared concerned. I've been using hotel for some twenty odd years and it's becoming more impersonal.
Really convenient for walking to Villa park for the match. Nice hot shower and good buffet breakfast. Excellent late checkout at midday
All good clean hotel fair price thanks
A good clean room and good breakfast convenient to visit Aston villa football ⚽ stadium
No bar or restaurant open, not told this beforehand. Steer clear of this place, basically a bed for the night and got know sleep due to people shouting and running around.
Had another fantastic stay. Lovely big family room overlooking the canal. Very friendly staff as always. Nice & quiet.
Mediocre stay, parking charged extra on arrival. Bar and restaurant shut for the festive period without any pre-warning via email. Beds are hard and uncomfortable. Amenities on rations with inadequate tea, coffee, sugar and milk especially as room cleaning is only done on request. No hand towel in bathroom
Had to move 2 out of 3 room s as they stank of sewage. Very unpleasant. Will not stay there again. There is a Premier Inma fee 100 metres away.
It was clean and was comfortable, the staff were friendly and the food was good.
Clean and tidy hotel with onsite parking, but not in walking distance of any main attractions
Bed uncomfortable. Sink too close to the toilet, tap too far into sink, soak floor when washing. Parking charges terrible, never used to charge for parking , until hotel was renovated.
Easy check in process. Staff were friendly but could have been a bit more chattier. We were in an end room but it felt like we were next to a boiler room so there was a bit of noise through the night. Room has large mirrors but no plug next to them. Room was clean and spacious. Hotel is situated ideally for a walk into the city centre.
A refurbished hotel that felt clean and refreshed.
Nice hotel fit for purpose.
Nice quiet place, easy for Birmingham
Great Hotel, little noisy on the roads during the night
Not enough information on restaurant or bar. (appeared closed and no staff) not as helpful this time.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Hotel was very noisey. Room across from me was running up and down the corridor shouting at all hours and banging on the door. No consideration for other guests, the lift was broken and carrying luggage to the top floor was not ideal. Even more so as we were not made aware prior to check in, which would have been nice. Thinking about people with disabilites here who couldnt get up the stairs at all. I wouldnt be staying here again.
Everything was clean and great however the lift was out of service and this was not mentioned to us prior to booking.
The stay was nice and comfortable , rooms and bathrooms were clean , I didnt get to explore facilities or the restaurant much however the team was kind and accomodating.
Cleanliness good unfortunately I feel that it should not always be card when you purchase something. I feel it’s wrong to charge for ice One pound 50. in the lounge downstairs is very comfortable and relax for the customers.
Nice clean and friendly stadf
VERY NOISY AND WINDOWS DONT SHUT PROPERLY
We booked 2 double supreme rooms, however they were on the 3rd floor and the lift was out of order which is an issue for me as I have mobility issues. They then said they would give us 2 rooms on the ground floor but they will not be superior so they will give extra facilities to make up the difference. We didnt receive all of the extra facilities to make up for the downgrade of the rooms and we were given rooms on the 1st floor leaving me with no choice but to go up the stairs! On top of that in our room one of the lights was not working and we had no remote! Really disappointed with the service received and still waiting for the manager to get back to me with some sort of compensation!
Basic but very clean. Lovely bathroom (super clean)!but only 2 towels. Coffee and tea supplies also a bit stingy. Comfy bed. Pillows were hard and wifi really poor but for a budget stay it was fine.
I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Very good value for money. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Big appreciation for Nasir who was very kind and helpful.
Nice place lovely member of staff last night in the bar he went above and beyond to make me and my partner had a lovely night downstairs in the bar , will be back again thanks again
Lift wasn’t working, this appears to be an ongoing issue looking at reviews. Limited breakfast options.
All the staff were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. They were particularly welcoming to our little one, who was very fond of waving at everyone and chatting - and they adapted the menu for her dinner, which was very much appreciated. Thank you all so much! I was visiting with my wife and little one for an exam nearby, and the staff members made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable.
My wife and I recently visited Birmingham and decided to lodge at HC. We enjoyed our stay and staff were very helpful. The lift was faulty when we visited but the staff was kind enough to allow us leave our baby's buggy with them.
Lift was not working, room was clean and tidy. Car parking is limited and spaces very tight. I had to clamber across to the passenger side to access my vehicle when leaving.
Area outside property was fairly loud, and room had no fridge/ access to drinking water. Other than that everything was great!
Enjoyable stay - we weren’t there long but very convenient for the Utility arena
Very good
Good location and reasonable hotel. Lift was broken. Staff friendly and breakfast was reasonable with items renewed. Only downside was that the walls are very thin and therefore noise is an issue if you are an early sleeper.
Hotel was great. Lift was out of order which wasnt great but we managed the stair. Was our 2nd time at the hotel. The location is great and has parking. Rooms are clean and tidy. Would recommend
My stay was good. First time at this hotel.
Good quick check in. Friendly staff
Comfortable overnight stay in a quiet location given its proximity to the centre (30 min walk). Clean hotel with friendly staff. Second time here so says a lot.
was a decent room/hotel free car park but lifts not working - only complaint is the mirror is near the bathroom and no where to put ur makeup etc and the dressing table/chair and plugs at the other side of the room so it didn’t make sense ?? needs looking at … but wud stay again :)
It was terrible wouldn’t recommend to anyone staying here in Birmingham, the lady we spoke to was very rude and she belittled and discriminated me and my friend because of our age she wasn’t helpful when refused to let us in for not having both of our ids it would have even be a little more appreciated if she could have pointed us in the right direction for another hotel then when I enquired about a refund she said it wasn’t down to the hotel and just seemed very uninterested in helping us at all it’s a good job premier Inn was just around the corner which I looked up on Google Maps because I was 140 miles from where I live witch we also told her but she just didn’t to care
As always a good place to stay for meetings in the City -
No room service, and lift wasn't working.
Really liked this hotel, the only thing is that there wasn’t any hand towels in the bathroom.
The women at the receptionist was amazing and friendly. Defo recommend
When I usually stay here the food is not that great, but for a budget hotel it meets the needs, however their menu yesterday for their special was a Lamb Shank with creamy mashed potatoe with honey roasted carrot and it was Subline!!! This topped my experience. I always have a restful sleep however the pillows could do with being softer, or have an option as my neck was hurting this morning and had a pressure headache as my pillows were very firm. There is lovely staff member named Monica who is always on in the evenings when I am there and she is very warm, welcoming and very accomodating. Always happy to help. Its always a pleasure to be greated by her.
Noisy rooms from other rooms to fan in bathroom that won’t turn off Food cheap but barely hot Lift broken
Good clean Hotel ,with on-site free parking. looking to come back to Birmingham in March,
Reception very clean and homely atmosphere. Hopefully they can fix satellite tv to show other channels rather than sky news . Overall room cleanness was spot on and I certainly will be revisiting and staying here. Recommended 10/10 Well done all .
Definitely enjoyed my stay. Really appreciated Sam’s hospitality.
Hotel was clean. Staff were nice. Food lovely. The room was too cold it was set at 18.5 degrees which at night wasn’t warm enough and there were no extra blankets in room. We asked for blankets but reception couldn’t get into the room where they were. Neither of us slept well as cold. Next day I asked again and we were given 1 extra duvet. Our last night there were no parking spaces which is not right. I asked reception and was told to park next door in a nursery car park. It didn’t feel safe as no Cctv. That is not right when within the price is states free parking On Site. The younger man on reception that night was helpful the other one couldn’t have cared less. Won’t be recommending this hotel unfortunately.
There was a very noisy group staying on the same floor so it was quite unpleasant. The room was too warm even though the heating was off.
The refurb of the restaurant lobby is great and the staff are as helpful as ever, especially Alicia on reception.
Only real issue was parking in the car park. There were many Autoglass vans parked in the car park even though their depot was "over the road" . Good, convenient hotel, friendly staff, will use again when I am in the area.
Nice, clean hotel. Good value.
It was nice to be away from town center but still within walkable distance. It's right along the canal line, which is very walkable. The beds and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The staff was so helpful!
The hotel had no reservation for me - it took me over 1 hour to check in - I had to message and call you to get it sorted - not good enough. Ypu told me it was the hotels issue - they told me they often get reservations in the wrong names. Sam (reception) was very helpful and ended up speaking to your team to help. In morning found a bed bug on my covers - reported this to reception on way out - came back and they had checked the room and advised none others found - I ended up leaving and not spending the second night.
Air coming through the windows the duvet was not thick enough I felt cold from the moment I switched the heater off and the air coming through the windows did not help
Always a warm welcome nice clean rooms and straight forward stay good location
Rooms are clean and comfortable. But no toiletries provided like toothpaste.
Very close to the Aston Expressway but the double glazing didn't reduce the noise.
Clean Modern Comfortable and great WiFi. Free Parking and convenient for city centre - Ideal for business travellers.
good
(Relatively) cheap and cheerful. The room was clean, comfortable and perfect for an overnight stay. The location is ideal for the Utilita Arena, which is a pleasant 30 minute stroll away, nearly all of it on the canal towpath.
It smells like your nans house, but the smell is so strong and EVERYWHERE apart from reception it gave me a really bad headache. Bathroom smelt like mould really badly. Beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. Walls are as thin as paper and there was a baby next door who liked to cry and liked to play with noisy toys really early. You can hear everything people say in the corridor too! Overall a really bad stay and I won’t be going back.
Very nice and stylish hotel. Lovely breakfast. Safe and secure parking. Bed was a little hard for me but was still great. Shower in the bedroom was good and had a nice view of the canal too.
Lovely bar area , rooms are very small & some reception staff weren’t that helpful only some !
The Hotel Campanile is a very clean hotel. The staff are all excellent. The food in the restaurant was great. The only issue with Hotel in my opinion, is the area where it is. There are no amenities in the local area. You need a car, or taxi or Über.
Bed comfy but no bar open or restaurant like it said in the adverts , would not stay again.
There is a lot of previous negative reviews but I have nothing bad to say, in fact the hotel is better than some of the previous stays in hotels on broad street. Clean hotel, room was great, very polite team working there from those interacted with on front desk, the bar and at breakfast. Breakfast was more than enough selection and hot meal for the morning. Great three night stay
Stayed for 2 nights, staff are friendly and hotel was clean and in a very good location. Would stay again.
Pleasantly surprised with my stay. Hotel isn't highly rated and on approach to the hotel was a bit doubtful. However I was very pleased with my stay. Room was nice, bed was comfy, shower was great (big plus) food in the restaurant was well priced and tasty. Staff were very helpful and fella at the bar was very friendly.
The duvet and sheets had obvious stains in them. The service by the reception desk could be more friendlier. Half of the reception staff do not go the extra mile in helping and addressing the needs of their guests.
A nice decent clean hotel , to a good standard, a slight criticism would be that the bar closes at 10:30pm, not good if you have been out for the evening and would like a drink when you get back. Also this is not the Hotels fault, but there does not seem to be much around in the way of Public Transport options, however i only stayed for 1 night, so did not get much time to explore the area too much.
Perfectly adequate room. Power points by the beds were too low to work with our charger but there was one in the corridor that was fine. A little bit of art work would make it more homely.
Excellent Quality Service and check in the Staff are very helpful with anything you require if they can help they certainly will.
Basic room but well designed although quite small Limited drawer space for clothes Mattress Ok and WiFi worked Difficult to find and not close to public transport
Excellent hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely location next to the canal lock.
Clean and modern
The staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard, but due to no air conditioning in the hotel our stay was uncomfortable.
Absolutely appalled by this hotel. I arrived at about quarter to 11 after working and having to drive down. I had booked a room but when I arrived I was told “we haven’t got a room for you”. When I asked what they were going to do about it I just got given really poor attitude. I understand it is not the receptionists fault but surely they have a duty of care to not just turn you away and to help find an alternative. As a woman in her early 20s alone in the middle of a city I don’t know to be given a “what do you want us to do about it” attitude I think is appalling.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Breakfast good value for money. Easy walk along the canal to city centre
Hotel pictures taken from very flattering angles. Room much smaller than anticipated. Staff on site extremely courteous. We arrived at night, and the hotel felt situated in a very poorly lit, quite intimidating area.
Good hotel, we've stayed for business
It was a bit pricey for what it was, but served its purpose. Free parking was nice and the bathroom was nice (great shower) But the room itself was ok, Breakfast was well priced but again nothing special. Staff seem more concerned in talking to each other then making guests feel confortable and wanted. It gave more of a Hostel vibe but at a hotel price. Overall very average.
Very noisy location next to duel carriage way and roundabout. Set in industrial estate setting, no near local amenities or restaurants. Parking was extremely limited and frustrated as the hotel seemingly lets autoglass vans depot use the vast majority of its bays. So parking for residents was very poor.
Really nice bright hotel view fro. Room was canal. Only downside was room was a little too warm
Nice hotel and room was clean and comfortable. Wasn’t too loud. Breakfast selection is good and staff are friendly
It was lovely!
