Howard Johnson by Wyndham Thunder Bay

The room was spacious and clean. We had our cats with us and the beds and furniture were cat proof which meant we could relax and not worry about a cat getting into the bed or finding a hiding place. We were on the ground floor and were able to park our car nearby, this made it much easier to bring suitcases and cat stuff in and out. The staff were very courteous and kind.

Breakfast was not that good. It was quite hot at the reception and breakfast area. People were smoking near the outside doors and ignoring all the signs stating that smoking was not allowed there. Our room door was very hard to open and close.

This hotel is an excellent place to stay when you are traveling, staff are so polite, breakfast is so good, very clean.

The fact that we had a two day reservation but had booked for the wrong first day caused us to lose both days subsequently finding ourselves in Thunder Bay without a room. The desk clerk was awesome and helpful by referring us to the Prince Arthur 😱 🤮. We took the Prince Arthur room despite the condition and can't believe royalty once stayed there 😳.

The beds were incredibly comfortable. Probably the best bed I’ve slept in at a hotel in years.

The bathrooms are quite small. The room was also a little small compared to sister hotel super 8.

It was a fine stay. Just wished they had an elevator. I had to have the front desk clerk help me carry stuff up to my room as I have some disabilities and couldn’t carry my heavier items. Everyone was friendly and the free waffles and continental breakfast was an added treat. There were a few little cleaning issues, like mold around the bathtub, broken tiles that trap dirt, but overall, not a bad place to stay. Next time I will book a first floor room.

There wasn’t any place to hang or put anything… The hotel was an obvious makeover - pant - flooring - hand pumped soap - no bar soap.

I think some of the staff could be better towards indigenous people especially to this young lady working the front in the morning on July 8th 2026 She was quite rude and ignorant towards people of colour especially idigenous people

UNREAL!! The BEST of the BEST‼️ Everything that we needed and wanted‼️ We arrived sopping wet from a long motorcycle ride in pouring rain. We wanted a hot tub and they had it… and in a gorgeous room with a pool, pool table and games! We did NOT want to go back out in the rain, on a motorcycle for dinner… and they had a nice restaurant/ bar! Super kind people and an EXCELLENT made drink by Zack. We HAD to wash and dry all our sopping wet clothes… and they put us right next to guest laundry! Beautiful, nice, clean room. Breakfast included a pot of freshly made oatmeal, and freshly made yogurt with so many toppings that most hotels do not have. Extremely easy to get to and amazing price‼️ AWESOME HOTEL‼️

We went to Thunder Bay for medical surgery. They treated us very well. And they.put on such a great breakfast

Despite the hotel rooms not being very soundproof - you can hear your neighbours talk, we luckily had quiet neighbours and enjoyed a good night sleep in a comfortable bed.

Access to 2nd floor has no elevator. The location is not too nice - mostly industry and commercials in this area. The hotel is functional, but to me was overpriced for what it provides.

It was so expensive! I have never paid before so much for such a cheap hotel. Breakfast was bad and poor, place didn’t smell well, deposit is up to $500 - sketchy people walk around (but it looks like all over this ran down town). Would not recommend at all. For that amount of money, definitely can find something better.

We were able to walk to a great restaurant, Industrial Social House - weird name, great food, atmosphere and staff.

I did like how i could go bowling at anytime. As well as the walmart being just down the street. The rooms were welcoming, and very clean.

I didn't like how i was "black listed" from ever staying there again, do to some one else's action, then being told to leave after a night of finding somewhere else to sleep, because i was beaten out of my room. I'd take all of it with a grain of salt, if anything in the room was broken, but no, my abusive partner had been taken from the room before breaking anything. But no empathy here, i spent a night on the streets looking for another room because of a noise complaint, because i left a situation where i would've been beaten. Waste of money. No care for victims of abuse. Stay clear.

Very small room for a king bed , barely enough room to move around.

Staff is awesome and love how big the mobility access rooms are especially when we need the space for medical supplies for an elderly guest.

Mobility bathrooms need more thorough cleaning (the shower chair/bench installed.) Especially between guests with immobility issues. Not every guest travel with their cleaning supplies like I do . I felt bad for whoever had stayed before us. Hope they feel better.

The staff was very friendly. The beds were comfortable. Location was close to airport and to were I had to go. Close to Walmart that was a seven minute walk from the hotel. There is a mall not too far "Intercity shopping Centre". Our tv did not work on the second night, when I called front desk she came up and tried to fix it. We were changed to another room. Overall. a good stay and I would go back if ever in Thunder Bay.

It was good for what was offered, but I do wish there were more variety for breakfast.

Entry and re-entry to the block of rooms at the rear of the Hotel is made difficult by the card swipe system - particularly when carrying loads in and out.

Decent breakfast that was regularly attended to and refreshed - no complaints there. Beds were comfortable and rooms appear recently updated. Friendly staff throughout.

Room was clean. Parking lot had video surveillance, offering some security for your vehicle. Check in was efficient. Concrete floors offered better sound proofing.

Continental breakfast was just ok. Booked about a week before my stay, very pricey but that was expected as vacancy rates were low

Breakfast was fine. Some of the people hanging around the parking lot concerned us a little, but nothing of concern occurred.
