I have been going to this hotel for over 10 years. The location is key and I love the old town of Alexandria

I have been going to this hotel for over ten years and for the first time, did not feel super welcomed by the staff. The rooms were musty smelling. The pull out sofa was broken and all sunken in. The breakfast was below expectations. I don't know if it's new owner's but not sure I will continue to go back there when I visit Alexandria. It's really sad because the location is amazing. The hotel was still decent but since I Have had such great experience over the past 10 years, it was sad to see some decline with the hotel staff and amenities.

Closest to metro.

The places smells of dogs. They allowed all types of pets in addition to service dogs and all rooms and hallways have carpet. The price of this hotel in no longer worth the value unless they remove this old carpet throughout the hotel or place guest with pets in rooms without carpet. The quality has definitely gone down along with customer service. Looking for another hotel in future to stay with in that area.

I went with my family, and we stayed 10 nights. Throughout the stay, we had no problem. All the staff have been very friendly. The breakfast was very good. The area is very quiet. Of course, when we return to Alexandria, we will stay there again.

Room was comfortable, bed was comfortable....it was quiet. Walking distance for the metro and Old Town Alexandria. Free shuttle for anywhere within 1 mile.

Breakfast was meh...the "hot" foods were cold. Parking a car was $50 per night, but it was secure parking

The staff. They were pleasant and always smiling. They were very helpful, courteous and very friendly. They anticipated your needs and went out of their way to help. We traveled a lot in Canada and Ameuca. This hotel by far has the best staff. A house manager named Frankie led by example and exemplified outstanding customer service. This is Marriotts better hotels.

No airport shuttle

Close to the metro line and not far from downtown area.

Love the location of our hotel. Walking distance to the waterfront and so much more. Able to get the shuttle to rent bikes... And then got picked up, to too. Staff was so friendly!! Will definitely stay here next time!!

Everything was wonderful—both the breakfast and room and the location.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, room was spacious. Kitchen is a real plus for longer stays. Shuttle on demand is nice even if it only covers 1 mile radius.

Dated facilities, could use some upgrades. Breakfast was ok, but could be improved. Parking too expensive, cheaper alternatives nearby. An airport shuttle would have been nice.

This was a normal 24 hour trip to DC to visit friends-- in & out. Property was great for what I needed-- close to airport, booked on points, easy peasy. Well, until it was time for me to check-out and catch my flight home out of DCA-- I asked if I could take the hotel shuttle to the metro station down the road-- it's not far but I had my bags so I thought, why not? Sebastian took me promptly and safely and that was that. Except, well it wasn't. I apparently dropped my phone (with all my credit cards/ID) upon exiting the shuttle and didn't realize until I was going to pay my metro fare...oops. So I assumed I had left it in the shuttle-- so I huffed it back to the hotel to grab it from the shuttle, except, it wasn't in the shuttle. But not to worry-- Sebastian suggested we call it and see if anyone has grabbed it...and next thing you know we're talking to Sid, a good samaritan who had picked it up and was walking to his job from the Metro. He was going to keep it safe...so Sebastian and I packed up my bag again and headed off in the shuttle to find Sid (with my phone, ID& money). About 5 minutes later we had found Sid walking to his job and I was reunited with my only way home. Without Sebastian going over & above I would be likely talking security into allowing me on a flight...and how I would have gotten to the airport with zero money....no idea. This morning reinforced my belief that people out here really want to help others. I'll forever be grateful to Sebastian for playing a leading role in this story-- 5 stars to say the very least.

Hotel is nice. The front desk staff went above and beyond to help me out. But they block Fox News for some reason. The channel shows up in the lineup, but it’s just a black screen. Kind of ridiculous.

Clean hotel in a convenient location with parking. pros: -easy parking in attached deck -clean room and common areas -large room with kitchen -great location--walkable to most of Old Town Alexandria -near Metro for trips into DC cons: -most of staff was difficult to communicate with due to language barriers -breakfast was just okay good to know: -parking deck has multiple levels with different ceiling heights--there were all sorts of vehicles parked without issue--turns are tight and spaces kind of narrow -quiet rooms on back side facing cemetery -parking fee $50/day as of August 2026

I would suggest to have basic toiletries in case quests forget theirs. Such as toothbrush and toothpaste

The staff were excellent. They accepted us as a family and were always willing to lend a hand. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was okay, especially with the offer of complementary bus services within a certain radius.

The breakfast was fine, but it became boring after a few days. Introducing food variety after a few days would be very helpful.

Great location within walking distance to main street in Old Town Alexandria. Clean, comfortable large rooms. All the appliances worked properly. Excellent restaurant - jazz club adjacent to hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. In general met and exceeded standards for Residence Inns.

Air conditioning unit in bedroom was mildly noisy.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Alexandria Old Town / Duke Street was exactly what I needed for my one-night stay. My one-bedroom suite was updated, spotless and comfortable. Both the Executive Diner and Table Talk restaurant serve reliably good eats within a couple of blocks, with all the action of King Street just a little farther than that. The hotel is also easily walkable to the King Street Metro station. An excellent option for Old Town.

The queen bed seemed smaller than a regular queen. Single bed rooms should really have a King in this day and age.

Personal am Empfang zum Teil unprofessionell und wenig motiviert. Zimmer durch Klimaanlage und Kühlschrank sehr laut. Suite für 4 Personen hat keine 4 Schlafplätze, auf dem Schlafsofa kann nur eine Person übernachten. Dusche ohne Handbrause. Zusatzprodukte extrem teuer (Flasche Wasser 7€…) Frühstück nur bis 9 Uhr. Keine frischen Produkte beim Frühstück, kein Gemüse, kein Käse, kaum Obst.

Größe und Ausstattung des Studios haben uns gefallen. Das Frühstück war für amerikanische Verhältnisse sehr gut. Es wurde ein kostenloser Shuttlebus in die Altstadt angeboten. Es fährt aber auch ein kostenloser Stadtbus in der Kingstreet. Man kann aber auch laufen. Das Personal beim Frühstück und beim Zimmerservice war sehr freundlich.

Die teuren Wasserflaschen auf dem Zimmer!

Breakfast was really good. While I did not get her name, one of the employees in the dining area on Sat. March 28 was so kind (not that anyone else was not ) but she was beyond. Location in Old Town excellent

Cost of parking was high

Staff is professional and helpful, rooms and common areas very clean. Bed comfortable. Lots of space in the room. Breakfast staff keeps things running well. Hotel seems very well managed. Easy walk from King st Metro.

The last night we were there heater became noisy enough that had to lower temp so it wouldn’t come on.

Breakfast changed daily, you weren't going to be with a empty stomach.

The location is really good, the staff were friendly. The proximity to the train station and whole foods, along with a nice little diner and other food is great. The kitchen was clean and useful (if bare bones), and the hotel outside our room felt clean and functional.

Both beds were really unfortunate - lumpy bad pillows and pretty awful mattresses, not nice or comfortable. Especially the sofa bed, which was a total no-go. Strongly recommend against using the sofa beds. It was like staying at a great-aunt's house where all the furniture is from the 60s, sagging springs and thinnest mattress I've seen in a long while. A couple of pretty basic cleanliness issues - a very dirty sock from a previous customer was next to the bed and some, well, looked like pubic hair was still around the bath and even faucet:-/ The $7 bottled water in the room kind of says it all: "This isn't anything special here. But you have to pay premium for the absolute basics." I guess we paid that high price for the location but next time I'll make sure if I pay that much we get something clean and comfortable, even if it's far out of town. The walls and door also didn't seem well-insulated because we heard everyone who walked by, every snippet of conversation, and then - very loudly, as if they were in our room - the people entering and leaving neighboring rooms. It was a bummer overall, we slept really badly.

Couldn't control heat in my room #524. Extremely cold and thermostat would not go above 72 degrees. Breakfast was mediocre, only ate at location one day, the other days I ate at a diner in the neighborhood.

Stayed here for long weekend. Staff was fantastic and friendly. Place is clean and well located near Metro and Whole Foods. Short walk to Old Town which was great. Loved the laundry room . Lobby was very clean and lots of seating. Would stay here again. Also was very quiet. Just know that all the plugs are old school so bring your own plugs!

It’s old and tired. The location isn’t near any walkable fine dining restaurants, just strip mall style eateries. We have stayed at Residence Inn in NYC and most recently in Alexandria. Their staff,reception and cleaning, are consistently warm, friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and it's nice to have a kitchen. My daughter and I always feel safe here.

The hotel rooms are spacious, and clean. The breakfast has many choices. The beds are comfortable. I plan on staying there again in the near future. The location is great.

Another great stay at this perfectly located gem in old town Alexandria. Minutes walk to the vibe of old town walking down to king street.

J'ai aimé la taille de l'appartement avec 2 belles chambres. Il était très propre et bien équipé. La situation de l'hotel est bonne, à 5-10 minutes à pieds d'une station de métro pour Washington.

Le prix de la place de parking si on a une voiture (35 dollars la nuit). A priori il y a des places moins chères dans les rues aux alentours mais nous n'avons trouvé qu'une place en parking sous-terrain à 18 dollars les 24 h. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas une piscine.

Great stay!

This conveniently located hotel near Old Town has a great staff who are very friendly and helpful. The fitness rooms were excellent and well equipped. Breakfast was very good with lots of seating. Rooms are large with small kitchen and living area. Parking is expensive at $45 a day but next to hotel.

I rarely give a 10, but our 4 day stay deserved it. Price was excellent, probably because it was August and off season for business. Big room, comfortable and decent kitchen. Super friendly people, good breakfast and gym. Great location near old town.

Parking price is absurd, 45$ per day, but in back of the hotel on Jamieson Ave it is 5$ per day and free on weekends. We always found a spot, but it was August... Free Wifi kept going in and out in room 518, they didn't fix it.
