I know this is a Super 8 and I don’t come in with high expectations. I’m fine with outdated rooms, but I do expect a clean space. Unfortunately, the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The floors weren’t swept or vacuumed, there was a previous guest’s shirt on the floor, dust on the phone and window ledges, bugs on the window sill, and the room smelled. The bathroom floor had small black hairs, and the worst part was the nightstand, which had a questionable white/clear substance on it. I’m giving two stars instead of one because housekeeping did come right away when we reported it and cleaned the room, which I appreciated. But basic cleanliness should be the starting point.
This hotel is in need of significant upgrades and maintenance. The room we stayed in had several issues that impacted our overall experience. The toilet seat was broken, and the sink vanity was damaged on both lower sides where towels are stored, which caused the towels to fall onto the floor. The doors throughout the room appeared quite worn, and the bathroom door showed signs of substantial water damage. Additionally, the curtains were damaged at the top and had noticeable stains that appeared to resemble blood or sauce. The beds were also very uncomfortable—extremely springy and firm—which made it difficult to get a good night’s rest. We were also not informed that breakfast service ended at 9:00 a.m., which unfortunately resulted in us missing it. Overall, we were disappointed with the condition of the room and felt it did not meet reasonable expectations for cleanliness and maintenance.
We booked this property as a youth hockey team after confirming specific details in advance. Prior to reserving multiple rooms, our team coordinator contacted the hotel to confirm two items: 1. That the pool was operational. 2. That although no conference room was available, the team could use the breakfast area as a gathering space. We were told yes to the pool and yes to using the breakfast area. Based on those representations, the team proceeded with booking multiple rooms. ARRIVAL At check-in, there was a significant backlog due to previously issued room keys being deactivated. Multiple guests were locked out of their rooms. While inconvenient, we initially viewed this as an operational issue. We were then informed the pool was closed due to a chemical imbalance. This was the primary amenity for the children during a tournament weekend. Additionally, one member of our group who had reserved a suite was assigned a standard room instead. ROOM CONDITION The room presented multiple maintenance and safety concerns, including: • A television improperly connected with taped wiring • Window blinds partially detached, so they wouldn't close properly • An electrical outlet missing a cover plate, exposing wiring • Loose cable conduit hanging across the room • A bathroom door that detached from its hinges • Uncleaned construction debris under the bathroom counter Staff attended the room; however, the maintenance employee appeared unequipped to complete the repair. In order to restore basic functionality, I assisted in remounting the bathroom door. These were not cosmetic deficiencies. They were basic maintenance and safety issues. GATHERING SPACE ISSUE Later that evening, the team attempted to use the breakfast area as discussed at booking. Access was refused. When clarification was requested from the manager (Shubham Khaddi), the explanations changed. He first stated that no such permission would have been given, despite the fact that this arrangement was confirmed prior to booking and relied upon when reserving multiple rooms. He then stated that municipal licensing restrictions prevented the motel from “serving food.” When asked about the daily breakfast service, he stated that breakfast was “marketing.” For clarity, we were not requesting food service from the hotel. We had ordered pizza from an external vendor and were simply seeking to eat it in the space previously identified as available. The explanations provided were inconsistent and dismissive. LOBBY CONDITIONS The team ultimately gathered in the reception area. Both sets of automatic doors were malfunctioning, leaving the lobby exposed to outdoor temperatures. Guests were repeatedly instructed to leave the doors open despite the cold. This review is not about luxury expectations. It concerns misrepresentation of amenities, room assignment discrepancies, basic safety deficiencies, and unprofessional management conduct. I'll dismiss that the hotel was loud. There were several hockey teams there. The walls are paper thin, so you will hear everything from every connecting room. As for value, neighbouring hotels are similar in price, but offer a much more luxurious and spacious environment with actual amenities. There were no redeeming aspects of this stay. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to consider alternative accommodations in the immediate area.
Our was great. The room was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The pool was also nice and warm. Great place for a family stay and it’s close to the 401.
The staff was polite and friendly, eager to help with needs promptly.
Didnt drive
Added late check out and never received it. Got a call to check out in 20 mins or pay another day
Clean budget friendly hotel. The condition of the room was poor. Bathroom particularly is in need of some upkeep.
Elevator problems
They have a pool
would certainly stay there again. Very friendly and polite staff.
You get what you pay for - that said, it met my expectations. Property was ok. Fine for an overnight or two. Bed was comfortable, staff was ok, breakfast was fine. Room had an overpowering smell of cleaners though so had to air it out long before bed.
Had a comfortable stay. Place is quiet and clean. Swimming pool and laundry facility is in full operation. Breakfast has good variety. I would definitely return.
Reception know me upon arrival. Easy check in. Room changed to a Queen on Main floor due to necessary repairs. A nice alternate comfortable room
For the most part the facility was good⁹
The staff were very accommodating when we checked in. However, the entire second floor smelt like pot, including our room. Multiple staff members were on the floor (housekeeping for example) and no one seemed concerned. I didn't feel safe complaining about the smell due to the hotels location so I was disappointed that the staff just seemed to ignore what was clearly someone smoking pot in the hotel. Additionally the vanity light in my room was not working, the switch seemed to be broken (not just a dead light bulb) and 2 of the remote controls for the TV were not functioning. As I was leaving I expressed this to the staff and they were on a phone call and just shrugged it off. I wasn't complaining, just wanted them to be aware before they rebook that room. Not sure I would stay at this hotel again, even though it was cheaper than hotels in the area, I feel like I paid more than what I should have for a motel style stay. The pull out couch was stained, the toilet seat looked dirty but was actually damaged/burn marks? There was paint peeling from the walls, etc. The breakfast offered was similar to most hotels but the layout of the breakfast bar made it difficult for people to get stuff as there was always a line at the waffle maker which blocked the entire counter area.
Its what you'd expect from a family run super8.
Rough Bad service Un professional Very poor breakfast Coffee cold
Garbage was inside room the bed had a hole in the middle room are paper tin
This was a great spot! Clean, spacious room (we had a king suite) and almost next door to the Ajax Go station. Breakfast had lots of choices and staff was friendly.
Shower no tub.
nice to stay
Central Location
I love staying at this hotel. It’s priced well for what you get. Nice large rooms with comfortable beds. My only disappointment during this stay was that the toilet seat looked to be previously damaged and they tried to seal it with something and paint over the seal. Looked gross. Please replace the seat. I love my coffee and this time, the coffee was very watered down. All in all, I still enjoy staying here and will be back.
The one staff member at the front desk was terrible… totally ignored that were people at the front desk waiting both at check in & check out. Waited 15 minutes to check in before someone even came! At check out the lobby was full of people waiting & no one came, threw my key on counter & left, don’t know how long other people waited! We stayed for 2 nights, room was not cleaned after 1st night. Asked for extra pillows & towels more than once. Had to go down & get our own! Don’t stay here!!!
Clean room . Very friendly staff.
Theres is not one thing that I would recommend from this place... room was dirty... couch was gross, room smelled moldy, morning breakfast was ok except the hard muffin I got, plus the cupboard door broke pff while all the guests were in their eating.
Elevator needs to be replaced. Otherwise all good.
The place is nice. The only problem is that when I got here in the evening of Sep 21st to check-in, the receptionist with a turban hat, trying to help, took my documents bag from me without my permission to put my passport in. I said "no" multiple times, however he proceeded to grab my bag which had other important documents in it and shoved my passport in. I did not ask for his help and he proceeded to do it even after I repeatedly said no. This was highly unprofessional to say the least.
This hotel we got flooded our second night after the flood they still demanded payment after we were kept up till four in the morning. It was the most worst experience. The one of the hotel staff was even demanding that I paid back the deposit or leave they were literally harassing me and but we were kept up till four in the morning when I should’ve had a comped room.
Our shower had mold above the shower head. The air conditioning fan/unit was full of mold and dust. I’d upload photos but there’s no option.
Everything
This stay was a complete nightmare. The place was run down, dirty and falling apart. They have the audacity to charge people money for the disgusting condition. A deposit of $200 was taken in the event of damage. How? The place is falling apart. How would one determine damage upon check out? The service was friendly. We ran out to buy cleaning products to make it through the night. We were offered another room in the very same condition. The entire place should not be in business. The filters in the ac/heating unit were so clogged it was inoperable. There was blood (?) On the wall. The carpeting had clearly not been vaccumed. When painted, they did so over the trim and outlets. The amount of dust causes made the TV look white and not black. The accumulation of urine around the toilet was something I had never seen before. (Dark and crusty). The bathroom doors were cracked. We had such a long day at work that there wasn't any time to go elsewhere. Instead of going to sleep we had to find a place to buy cleaning products. Random pieces of drywall just laying around in the hallway There have to be standards. This was a horror, like a bad prank
The room was perfect.
Would like to show you a couple videos, terrible experience.
Okay place to stay for the night, do not expect too much as they seem very understaffed.
Noisy machine to dry the carpet
Not enough staff.
No respect for customers and a lack of knowledge of how to accommodate customers!!!
I rented two rooms for friends from Japan. At checkin they said noises I had only 1 room despite shouting g them a payment receipt for two from hotels.com. Thankfully hotels helped One of my friends woke in the middle of the night to a torrent of water pouring into him from above. Both friends rooms were flooded and all their clothing and belongings were wet. The staff were reluctant to give them an alternative room and were very accusatory. When we talked about some form of compensation they refused and said use your own insurance. Never again will I stay at a super 8 or Wyndham
Close to everything, good place to stay for Blue Jays baseball.
Room fridge too noisy for sleep. Room dirty. Television remote inworkable
Good area
Was absolutely amazing
It was average, nothing unique and no complaints
Stay was ok for the most part as I knew I it was a 2 star stay. However, room has lots of what looked like fruit flies, I was advise that this was all over the resort. Room was dusty and I had to bring it to a worker attention to be sorted out. Also for days there was a loud water dripping above the ceiling in the bathroom and I informed at least 3 workers to it but it was still there upon leaving.
Clean room
Warm pool, great continental breakfast. Simple but everything we needed! Would stay here again and would recommend.
So close to the go train . Loved the pool.
It suited our purposes perfectly for a price I was happy with. Could the hallways have been vacuumed? Could the room be fresher? It was clean, in the location I needed for a decent price. am happy enough.
The room was bigger than I thought. But the bathroom was very small. We appreciated our short stay.
Family friendly, pool and gym small but clean and in good repair. Claen rooms, fair price point
Shower had mold. Beds uncomfortable. Staff giving keys out for rooms that had people in them.
Beds uncomfortable, business centre not functional
Room service wasn't good
Servive was good
Confortable beds, nice breakfast, near transportation
Great experience friendly staff very clean rooms swimming pool, continental breakfast. Close to all amenities shopping, buses, Go train gas.
There were stains on the couch, damage to the walls and furniture. Fruit flies were flying around the room and bathroom.
Place seemed clean, found a bed bug
Clean room
Rooms and halls had a smoke like smell, elevator sounded like it was going to break, bathroom door was peeling. Overall not a great stay but staff were nice. Convenient location if travelling from Ajax Go station
not bad
Great place to stay if you plan on using the go train to attend events in Toronto. You can walk from the hotel to the go train.
Did not provide the basic amenities
There was a beeping that sounded like a smoke detector going off all night. We thought it was the air conditioner so shut it off. But that was not where it was coming from.
Do not recommend. Room was not clean. Zero maintenance for stuff that’s broken/missing. Looks like they don’t spend a dime on upkeep.
excellent endroit pres de tout les services
This property is quicklie accessible from the 401, but not too close! The town of Ajax is very nice and has beautiful lakeside parks to walk through. There are a number of good restaurants nearby with affordable prices. The hotel is reasonably priced, provides a good complimentary continental breakfast, and offers a nice pool and exercise facility.
Great hotel
This was overpriced and it still used as a sanctuary for refugees....I pay they stay for free. Elevator was not working....seniors had to carry luggage. Will never recommend anyone to stay there and will never book again.
Staff was friendly and rooms were nice . Beds were comfy also.
If I could give a 0 i would… The room was STINKYY and FILTHYYY! Dirt on the walls, on the floor, poorly renovated. The couch in the room has MASSIVE stains, smelled bad and overall was disgusting. We found stains on the bed sheets. When we asked to get new ones, the new ones had even more stains. When we told the front desk politely if we could get new ones and showed it to them , they gave us attitude and told us they maybe didn’t have any clean ones. Room service was barely existent and we had to change the bed ourselves. No new towels or toilet paper. The only good thing was the comfort of the bed and the pool. Overall, awful stay and experience
Glass shower door kept getting off its tracks had to put it back in place every time u would move it weight of it was 50 lbs . Air conditioning filters were so dirty air wouldnt go through very dirty we had to clean it ourselves.
You waited for few mins for front desk. Found garbage from previous person. Socks and more socks
The service was adequate, room was clean and quiet
Several issues in our room such as stains on the couch, a funky smell, no toilet paper holder, bedroom TV didn't work, the cable box was dangling by the power cord, the pillows were oddly shaped and uncomfortable, no place to hang towels, a vent regularly blew some sort of dust from the vents onto the table and floor, and the advertised "climate control" was a window unit (thermostat was not connected).
The rooms are not is not kept up very well. Not dirty but not a lot of attention to cleaning detail.
That couch stunk like pee and had visible stains all over it. We had to cover it with towels so we could sit and eat a take in supper. We had some guy in the lobby begging for change...we did not feel comfortable with him in the lobby...disappointing
Very convenient location for our needs.
Very noisy, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Property is a bit dated. No usb outletbin room. Breakfast was good, lots of options. Decor and general condition is just showing wear. Pool is good, was a bit odd that there were people giving swimming lessons to persons not staying in hotel. Price and convenient location to GO train & 401. Would stay there again.
Deserves 3 stars
The property was clean. The pool was nice
It ok
No
Staff were very friendly! Breakfast was great and the staff were very attentive to needs. Building itself is very old and needs some upgrades, for example the a/c in the room we had was terrible it was either really cold or extremely hot, there was a lot of hair that was not ours in our bathroom, the beds were hard as a rock and the walls were paper thin you could hear everyone and it almost sounded as it the person above us was going to come through the ceiling. Kids enjoyed the pool but with the swimming lessons going on in the middle of their swim all the kids kept swimming into each other and the floors were very dirty. Again the staff were so nice!!
the bathrooms were run-down
The room was the first room connected to the laundry room. They began laundry extremely early and the headboards vibrated. The toilet kept emptying and refilling every 3 min. Advised front desk they came to room acted like it was the first they heard of this.. told us its probably the room upstairs taking shower or plumbing. We showed the issue of plumbing he said ill advise manager and never heard anything from manager. we booked room for 4 people i had to run around asking for extra towels and shampoo because we only had 3 towels and 1 shampoo! The floor was laminate flooring and after the pool we walked on floor and i used a hand towel to dry the foot prints and the towel was black with dirt. Beds were not comfortable but we dud have a microwave ad fridge that were functional.
The food is good property needs to update their website with information about security deposit
Beds were disgusting i slept on top in myclothes if i was not having drinks i would of left , ppl clearly sitting out back using drugs , the door of the room has been broke into previously and the beds were diagusting when look under the sheets
Very convenient location
The mattress felt like it was stabbing you in the back. There were red stains on bedsheets and hair in the bathrooms. The staff were incredibly rude about it. And the main floor stinks from the chlorine.
Needs a little update
the room was clean but i turn off is that the chair in there has cigarette burns in it. it looked terrible and should be taken out of the room. Also i believe you can smell cigarettes in the hallway. someone in hall commented that people in one of the rooms was definitely smoking. The staff doesn't seem to like working there they do not smile at all! feel like you are putting them out.
Great little highway hotel. Good for a quick safe night. Bed are comfortable and a/c was cold. Room was overall clean. Paid 108$ a night so really can’t complain at that price .
Convenient location near GO train.- we stayed to attend Blue Jays game. Great room w new tv and great shower. Mattress is too hard. Pool is a good temperature. Check in easy n professional. Good breakfast buffet included- very good coffee
Nice hotel for the price. Nice pool, good breakfast. Would stay again
Nice hotel. Good front staff
Wrong room given at check in Then changed to suite i booked that was dirty and nothing worked 2 tvs broken ac not working. Told i would get a $100 refund which their Manager Raj never did. Very poor service
