Lovely clean pub accommodation
Clean comfortable accommodation perfect for a stop over
Centre location but still fairly quiet
Excellent room, as you would expect. Clean and tidy, all facilities you need including tea coffee etc. Staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay, and after too. Excellent location for local facilities.
Noise from pub downstairs, although not extremely loud, you could hear the music until closing time, around midnight. No free parking, 30 minutes outside hotel (8am-6pm) or council pay and display carpark.
Friendly staff on arrival. The room was clean and tidy.
Short 5 minute walk to train station & situated right in the town centre. Room was excellent clean comfortable & everything you’d need provided (toiletries beverages great WiFi) Private access gate if you’d prefer not to go through the pub to your room.
Didn’t worry me but some people might be put off a little with the noise from the pub.
Everything not a problem with anything, our 1st and will defo be back again

Good pub clean good atmosphere
Incredibly noisy both notes. Almost impossible to sleep
Good budget accommodation with a great location in Selby town centre. Staff very friendly. Secure access to the side of the property via a locked gate so no need to walk through the bar area. Tea and coffee provided. Rooms are above a busy bar and opposite the Post Office depot so some will find it noisy but they do provide ear plugs which we found very helpful.
Check out by 10am a little early for a Sunday but no major issue.
The rooms a re small and compact but very clean and comfy, Ideal for a base to travel the local area. Close to Bus/train Station to explore the local area. Close enought o grt into York without having to pay York Hotel Prices.
Its a shame they don't do food, but there are enough local places to get food from, the chip shop next door is excellent.
Most of it
The Bed was really comfortable , parking available, staff very nice
White towels are preferable Rooms were clean but I saw cobwebs on the curtain holders, I understand it’s the weather but needs looking into
Great find. Excellent stay. Perfect location
All good. Steps to room. Not good for accesibility

Top rooms
Great location and friendly staff.
Shower was not working properly. Room was a little warm and just a fan to cool. A bit pricey for a basic room but comfortable.
The rooms are very nice in terms of the arrangement, everyplace looks neat. You also feel comfortable on the bed. And the marvelous thing is that in case you book for 2 days or more, they do clean the room everyday till you check out.
The property was in a very central place smooth check in and check out didn't seem to be noisy in fact it was the pub opposite that was creating the noise
I didn't like the bath in the bedroom but that's my own personal choice seemed a bit odd. Had the ceiling fan on because it was hot couldn't turn the light off if we did the fan went off.
Central location, east parking, room was spotlessly clean. Warned of noise after reading reviews but got to sleep ok and slept through so not an issue for us
Very hot, can’t be helped and fan was provided. Towels could do with an upgrade, clean but stiff and dated. Shame you don’t do breakfast but weather spoons hit the mark
The room was beautiful, blue and white in a classical style n lovely bathroom. The staff were very helpful. There is a separate entrance in the side so there isn't any need to go through the pub. The pub down the street has food and a nice atmosphere. There are restaurants down further overlooking the river. It's conveniently located for trips to Alnwick, Dunstanburgh, etc. and not to far from Lindersfarne and Bamburgh.
The location on the corner of the highway and the coastal road was a bit noisy. My Satilite Navigation lady liked it - she caught on to where everything was.
Goid location, friendly staff. Ready to check-in and check out
Nothing
Would have been nice if it was a double bed instead of 2 singles together but other than that everything was great 👍
Comfortable and recently refurbished
Temperature control on showers needs attention. Water comes out too hot even on coldest setting
midden in het centrum
De pub onder de kamer was nogal rumoerig. Het was zaterdag. Veel luidruchtig publiek.
Modern clean room, good location
No free parking, beds are small, staff not flexible with rates for extending the stay
Great location, very close to the train and bus stations and the town centre where all the main shops are located. We loved meeting two local dogs, Dufus and Nova and their lovely owners, down in the bar one evening. The Giant Bellflower, a J. D. Wetherspoon pub, is just around the corner which was really handy for eating. There are plenty of other places to eat and drink too.
Nothing - all good.
The position in town , car park right outside the pub , room on the small size but clean n tidy , nice town plenty of pubs n restaurants, very nice town
Check in took a while because the barman was very busy, then he couldn't find our booking , luckily a woman appeared and found it , so all good in the end .
Location
Bathroom was very small.
Convenient
Handy for town
Excellent location. Good sized room. Lovely comfy bed. Powerful shower. They give you full list of places for breakfast.
Bit of pub noise but we expected that and they supplied earplugs.
The bed was comfortable and rooms location was above the pub which was very cool.
The space of the bedroom.
Convenient location in the middle of town.
Music from the bar was still playing loudly at 3am in the morning. When mentioned the next day no apology or explanation was given, only told it would finish at 1 that night.
Nice clean room, plenty of space
The noise
The room was very nice and clean, location was excellent too.
I was expecting a bit of noise from the bar downstairs until closing time at midnight, however there was loud music and a lot of people chatting, singing etc. The music went on until 05:30am, I could still hear people talking in the bar until 6am. I had to get up for work at 6am, this was on a Thursday night.
Very friendly greeting from the staff and some of the customers when we arrived in the pub. Shown to our room by a very pleasant gentlemen who explained everything perfectly They have clearly recently spent a lot of money refurbishing the bedrooms. Lovely wooden doors and modern bathroom suites Great view of Selby Abbey from the window Public car park right outside the pub, we could see the car from our room
A very minor suggestion for improvement would be some hand soap in the bathroom, I found some shower gel in the shower so I used that. But other than that, it was fabulous, perfect for our needs
Convenience
Loud while the bar was open. Smoking was outside but drifted up to the rooms.
Lovely place
Could do with a double bed instead of 2 singles put together..but apart from that it was all excellent 👌 👍
Great location and value for money
Unfortunately there was no hot water when using the shower or sink. As it was morning and we were wearing PJ’s we didn’t want to have to go into the pub to tell them.
Surprisingly friendly people in the pub, locals. Staff very helpful and friendly Very clean Well looked after Options given for breakfast as don’t do breakfast
Nothing.. music loud upto 11 ish but expected at bank holiday and weekends.not a problem, ear plugs provided Didn’t get my chocolate on my bed on arrival this time lol
Location
Sally the bar staff she was exceptional could not do enough for us to make us welcome went a ove and beyond what a beautiful soul she is she deserves recognition thankyou Sally ❤️
Bed was very uncomfortable needs replacing no hot water in the morning so could not have a shower so made our stay uncomfortable 🙃
Booked for my M.I.L and her husband to stay after a concert at selby abbey. They gave nothing but praise for the staff and accommodations. They enjoyed their stay and have stated that they will definitely stay again in the future. Thank you.
All of it.

We had a great stay at bay horse. Location great for what we wanted. Would stay there again. ⁹
No breakfast
The room was clean and comfortable. A great location in the town and with great transport links to nearby towns and cities. The staff were very friendly, with a very welcoming atmosphere
The staff were friendly and pleasant. The room was spotlessly clean. The hotel is situated in a charming, historic area.
No complaints.
Told they didn't do breakfast
Loud music playing after 12pm
The room was very clean and warm. Great location in the town centre and friendly staff.
Complimentary biscuits would have been good! Otherwise, everything was just right.
EN REALIDAD LA CAMA ESTABA SUPER INCOMODA, ESTABA HUNDIDA, Y ADEMAS EL PRIMER DIA, DEBIDO A QUE ESTA ARRIBA DE UN BAR, UNA PERSONA ESTABA INTENTANDO ENTRAR AL CUARTO, PENSAMOS QUE SE DEBIO A QUE ESTABA EBRIO PORQUE ESO NO VOLVIO A PASAR. TAMBIEN LOS FINES DE SEMANA TENIA MAS RUIDO DE LO NORMAL POR LA MUSICA, PERO AUN ASI SI VOLVERIA AL HOTEL, SOLO LES SUGIERO PONER UNA CAMA REALMENTE DOBLE PORQUE ESA PARECIA UN SOFACAMA.
LA CAMA (ESTABA HORRIBLE) Y LOS ULTIMOS 5 DIAS NO NOS PUSIERON AGUA
The staff Near shops and buses
If you don't drum and bass all into the small hours and the locals beating up each other Than I would not recommend you stay at the bay horse
Friendly staff , accommodation was spotless 100%
Everything was perfect
LOCATION SMALL VALUE FOR MONEY
Nothing
Location was excellent. So clean and comfortable
Good value for money. Nothing we didn't like
The roo.m was clean, comfortable and well lit. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Location is excellent as right in the Town centre. room is clean. Mixer in the shower was good unlike some of the other rooms.
The bed was terrible, it was a "zip n link" bed, which was not zipped correctly, the mattresses kept separating and leaving a gap which made it very uncomfortable to sleep on
Great location, close to shops and public transport. Very clean and comfortable, we really enjoyed our weeks stay.
Location
Noise from the pub and noise and door banging from guests.
The room was comfortable enough, and very clean. Pub-lovers will love having the bar downstairs. The inn is very central.
The main problem was the extreme noise coming from the bar on the floor directly before the bedroom I was in. Early afternoon, the noise coming from the bingo game going on beneath my feet was very loud and impossible to ignore. As to be expected, the noise in the evening was even worse, not only from the pub, but also outside the front door where people congregate to smoke. I was surprised to note that the pub was even raucous until 2am on Tuesday morning!
The hotel & staff was more than expected. Ideal for our concert in the Abbey.
Location
Steel staircase outside to room it was very difficult to climb stairs and it was raining heavily I am disabled with a stick and frightened I may fall I certainly couldn't stay again due to this issue it's not the fault of the hotel I just didn't realise how awkward it would be for me!
Room location warm bed comfy easy door release
Firedoor slamming in corridor as guests leave Metal steps acess to rooms slippy and akward in rain..maybe staff take you to room Carry case up steps
Good sized modern feeling room, comfy bed and large TV with apps such as Netflix installed. There's a car park opposite which is really handy.
Unfortunately the noise let it down a little for me There is very loud music in the pub below (we stayed on a Saturday) until after midnight so you can hear a constant thudding. I slept through it but if you're a light sleeper it's probably one to avoid.
Perfect location, very helpful staff and friendly atmosphere.
Slightly noisy (earplugs provided)
Rooms were clean, comfortable. Location was good
Access to the rooms was outside up metal staircase... Not too good for my elderly dad and slippy when rained
Location. Clean warm room, new carpet, curtains, new shower room.
Outwith the hotels control, guests coming and going all night, very noisy, no consideration for other guests. Letting the cold into the building during the night for numerous cigarette trips, I’m sorry but coming and going on winters night between 4/5 am?, the earplugs provided are absolutely useless as was the tiny shower towel, no hand towel provided, but a bottle of complimentary water, shower gel and shampoo and tea coffee etc. Housekeeping in the morning very friendly.
Easy parking opposite the pub Lovely street and near the abbey and centre.
Location
The matress ...needs replacing
Convenient, clean and a good price
Bed wasn’t good, very soft and big height difference between to two halves!
Clean, bright room and good location.
Having to walk through smelly barrel storage and smoking area to get to the stairs.
Great value for money , friendly people , clean
Could do with a mini fridge
Central and the staff were fantastic.
We were not informed of a party at the pub and the noise was deafening even from the room. The TV did not work and walking through a back alley passing a number of smokers was very off putting and intimidating
