The location is great and room 5 which stayed in was fantastic. Despite being part of a pub which has Indian restaurant attached to it. There was no noise and no smell, which I think is brilliant.
The check in time on Booking.Com is 3pm, but unfortunately that isn’t the case as nobody arrived until just before 4. The other couple of things are just about detail, as there was no spoon with the complimentary tea & coffee and the plug where the kettle is didn’t work. I’m from a hospitality background and know that sometimes those little things can be easily fixed.
really nice room and staff was great
It’s so lovely, clean modern yet cosy! Plus a pub downstairs
Nothing it was so cosy
Clean spacious and private 5 star

The room was clean spacious and very comfortable, the Indian restaurant that was within the put was 1st class and I would highly recommend eating there
The price!! Just what we needed for one night. Good to have the pub & the Indian restaurant on site too. The room looks recently refurbished. We would def stay again if the prices stay the same
The pub was playing our music until 11pm but we did expect this
Parking is very easy. There is a good restaurant on the premises. The room was comfortable and clean.
I trade to call them several time before my stay. No reply.
Lovely place and staff very welcoming. The restaurant joint to the hotel was fantastic. Would highly recommend.
Niice pub, friendly staff. The room was comfortable and spacious. The fan was very welcome on a hot evening! Big tv in the room
No complaints
The room was good
Shower was temperamental
Great property in great location
Couldn’t cool the shower down, way too hot and tried everything.
Really good location in a quiet neighbourhood with free parking. Lovely view over the fields. Roomy bedroom and modern ensuite. Secure access and comfy temperature.
Nothing.
Fab value for money
Easy parking
More milk and cups. Biscuits, perhaps
Good location, great pub,
The room was a bit dark with the furnishings and the mattress was a cheap one. Otherwise it was a great stay for one night.
Great room! Comfy bed, love the window + view
Shower kept cutting out
Clean, comfortable and good price
The layout of the room. Bed was comfortable.
There was a power cut about 7am, we couldn't shower, make a coffee and it was boiling hot because the fan switched off. Also there was nobody serving food in the kitchen, so we had to go into town for food.
View from window
Noise was terrible from rough pub below from 12 noon till 1am then for an hour outside while people waited for taxis.
Great sized room and fabulous facilities
Facilities were good, bedroom, ensuite, kettle, tv etc,
They advertised that they're opening from 1500hrs 3pm...as I'd told them that I would be arriving around this time. Unfortunately the staff didn't arrive til 1600hrs 4pm..to then be told that there opening hours have changed. No where was it advertised, or was informed of these hours. Would be nice to be informed.
Good clean room, stylish decoration.
For that money, would have expected breakfast.
Because the accommodation was over a pub/ restaurant it was a bit noisy
Nice room, comfy bed, bathtub in the room
Very noisy, hotel is over the busy bar and music was super loud until after midnight. We couldn't rest not even watch a telly. We had to go and ask for towels as there weren't any. Shower was so hot that we couldn't use it, good thing there was a bathtub in the room.if you are after a quiet night and good rest, this is not a good option.
Huge bed, spacious room and bathroom
Room was far too hot as was the shower!
Really clean, lovely room. View of fields from my window. Would definitely recommend.
Very nice, well decorated room, everything was in modern colours, and tasteful.
There was no breakfast, which would have been appreciated, because there's not much nere by..
Lovely room nice bar area nice staff and people
Nice quaint little place not far from.town center, lovely staff nice people nice bar and Indian restraunt
Great location and facilities
15 min flat walk to town centre/Selby Abbey
Crisp white bedding would be better than dark colour bedding, for the hotel experience .
room was excellent re the size of the bed, the large bath tub for the wife and the modern shower. Tea supplied, awesome.
room is above the pub downstairs, very noisy up to mid night.
Had everything we needed for an overnight stay
Na
Lovely room, really clean and very welcoming.
Close to Selby great value for money
Everything clean, good restaurant downstairs three bros
Bit noisy till 10:30pm from bar directly under room, bed wasn't the best, 2 singles pushed together different heights and different types of mattresses
Very clean lovely big room great bathroom loved the little sensor light in bathroom. Staff was great very accommodating. Excellent location lovely 15 min walk into town. Would definitely recommend 🤗
Very clean
convenient for the party we were attending
The bed was uncomfortable, mattress definitely needs replacing. Room was far too hot with heating on all night. Resulted in a very sleepless night. The bath/shower in the actual room was also odd...as friends sharing we had to give each other privacy by going to the toilet ha ha. Even a shower curtain or privacy screen on the glass might of helped.
Clean and comfortable. Toiletries. Shower lovely and warm. Bed cozy. Views are wonderful. Easy to walk into Selby
All good
No breakfast, location fine
We had no sleep. Party downstairs going on, people shouting and swearing, went downstairs spoke to bar staff at 1am ( second time we had to complain, 1st time children running past our room screaming and shouting, 2nd. time at 1am were promised noise would all stop at at 1:30 am, music stopped but people outside gathered shouting and swearing til 4:30 am, the worst stay of anywhere for us and we've booked thro Booking.com a few times We were exhausted and had a more than 2 hour drive back home, went straight to bed to catch up. Please check your properties out more thoroughly, the unicorn is a pub, we didn't realise there may be problems when we booked. We'd attended a family get-together that afternoon which was very nice, all the noise problems were in the evening
Room was quite spacious, nice meal in adjoining Indian restaurant
Noise from bar area - loud music, kept us awake until 2am.
No breakfast available
It’s good
Next to road
Location was good, very peaceful and carpark was free

Easy parking.. nice room . Close to town
Room was a good size and comfy bed
There was no TV remote but had a tv on the wall
Close to town,quiet,comfortable.
Breakfast would be a bonus.
We stayed in room 6. Very clean and comfortable and staff friendly.
The room was pretty cold when we arrived. We turned on the thermostat but find it to not be warming up. The main radiator in the room didn’t work and the only source of heat was from the towel rail in the bathroom. It was very cold and we all slept in a jumper and extra layers. Also TV remote didn’t work. Minor point but would have been nice
Everything, spacious room, lovely bathroom, car parking, nice Bar
Spacious room, nice and warm. Loved the quilt and bed was comfortable. Secure entrance and parking.Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice pub and Indian restaurant below , the food there was brilliant and huge portions.
The only thing I did not like was the bathroom door / though slight privacy screen on glass of the door I felt slightly exposed. Good thing we been together a while and not shy around one another.
Friendly staff, great parking for a motorcycle, good location and plenty of tea and coffee but take your own milk. The room was nice had all i needed for a short stay
No food served on a Monday same as most the town Bathroom door was broken down sensor light cane on and off most the night. Wind was high whistling through the bathroom vent at times
Comfortable beds
Sheets and pillow cases could do with up grading
Everything
Nothing
Great facilities & in a good location
Nice comfortable room
Toilet door didn"t shut
We loved the room with a huge bath. The Bar below was great, and we enjoyed a few drinks also.
The bed was super huge and comfortable.
Close to town centre . Good Indian restaurant .
Chaotic . Rooms not made up . TV remote didn’t work and staff mentioned it had been like it for a week. Window didn’t close and was cold . No one around to address this with .
Clean room and comfortable bed. No issues at all
Refurbished rooms.
Sadly, no breakfast and no staff around.
Room size was good
Difficulty with check in. Room hadn't been cleaned properly, chips on floor. Couldn't use TV and travelling with a child. Dirty glasses left in room for use.
we wanted somewhere just outside of York and for a reasonable price bingo the Unicorn was perfect good value lovely big room with modern facilities staff where very friendly we got there a little early and the lady behind the bar kept our bags and later put them in the room for us while we was out would 100% stay there again
Nice room with decent bed and duvet.
Staircase up needs carpet hoovering (and cleaning as well, to be honest).
Easy check out experience.
we stayed on a Saturday night, reviews online and on booking.com said that music stopped at 11pm (also confirmed on google) but the license is until 1am and the room was physically vibrating. Lady behind the bar was rude to my partner when he went down to ask when the thumping music would be turned off. If we knew this we wouldn’t have stayed. We don’t mind some music but until 1am that’s false advertising. Shower constantly dripped water from the temperature tap and was freezing cold.
Very friendly staff. The room was a good size, clean and the bed was comfortable. Will stay there again.
Failed to respond to any contact on my expected day of arrival leading to me having to find alternate accommodation. Really poor form £60 and no access to a room. Find yourself somewhere else to stay, don’t book here.
Pleasant staff, sufficient parking and comfortable bed
No breakfast provided, had to go into Selby town centre for that.
Room, location
Poor signage to reception from carpark
Clean and polite Fantastic Asian restaurant downstairs
Wardrobe doors rattle in room 1 whenever someone goes down the stairs. However a bit of loo roll wedged in them ensured a good night sleep
Good location. Nice that there was a bar and indian restaurant below accommodation. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful
Bed was too soft and duvet exceptional heavy, so he made it uncomfortable although husband slept well, apart from the road noise. Could have been cleaner. Windowsill was filthy, and the shower screen was scummy. Also, there was no bin in the room. And no coffee, only coffee sachets with milk, but for someone who doesn't drink milk, i was left with having to find a costa. Also, it was a shame that there was no breakfast offered. Also very noisy doors when other guests came and left.
Rooms are above the pub, but quiet and with a separate secure entrance. Clean and comfortable.
No food available (but I knew this when booking). There are places to eat in the town centre about half a mile away.
Everything
The restaurant within the Pub was excellent, well set up and managed very well. Rooms were set up a very good standard clean and tidy, large bathroom with a bath. Good transport links for motorways and train stations. Free car parking was a bonus!
Nothing
The Unicorn in Selby - the accommodation was great, the staff were friendly and welcoming, The Three Bros Ltd curry house located on site was superb, Jay and the team were very friendly & the curry was amazing!!
TV in our room didn't work One of the beds in the twin room - the mattress needs replacing
