Lovely staff that made you feel welcome.

We got a great reception to Sri Lanka from the wonderful staff, great food and location.

The room could have been a bit better, not the best bathroom.

The food was quite nice and they try to cater for westerners as best they can. Staff where friendly and helpful

Chairs out the front of the rooms weren't that comfortable and maybe to have a few comfortable chairs inside the room to sit on world be an addition.

The staff demonstrated exceptional amiability! Cristi, the manager, is an outstanding host.

Der Gast ist hier wirklich König. Ich wurde sehr zuvorkommend behandelt. Sogar ein sehr früher Check-in war problemlos möglich, und auch ein Taxiservice wurde für mich organisiert. Das gesamte Personal war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Besitzer war besonders herzlich und hat mich mit seinen spannenden Lebensgeschichten bestens unterhalten. Es war der perfekte Aufenthalt, um in Ruhe anzukommen und mich zu akklimatisieren. Ich habe mich rundum wohlgefühlt und kann die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.

Our plane came in at 12 midnight.. By the time we left the airport it was close to 1.00am. Our hire care took us to the guesthouse which we found was in darkness and locked up. Luckily our hire car driver was able to find us another hotel. We were not happy with Icebear Guesthouse. Landing in a foreign country in the middle of the night and left stranded is not a very pleasant experience.

Le charme de cette maison sri lankaise dans un jardin tropical magnifique. C’est reposant, plein de petits coins sympas et le jardin donne directement sur la mer.ils sont tous vraiment gentils. J’y retournerai.

Most staff were nice but a slip in standards on the holiday when supervision away, e.g. slowness to respond to mutiple bell rings; indifferent manner when making a request and loud music in staff quarters. Tea poorly made at breakfast - shouldn't be difficult

I paid for my room before I even saw it as the money was demanded upfront and it was not the room that I had booked.

Die Anlage ist in die Jahre gekommen aber funktionsfähig Am davor liegenden Strand liegt viel Abfall. Wir hatten jedoch keine Zeit weitere Strandabschnitte zu besichtigen

Das Guesthouse hat viel Charme & Charakter und das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Πιστεύω ότι λίγο περισσότερη προσοχή στην καθαριότητα θα ανέβαζε την αξιολόγηση . Επίσης οι Μπρίζες για εμένα ήταν πρόβλημα .

Die Zimmer sollten, insbesondere die Waschräume dringend modernisiert werden. Das Zimmer meiner Freundiin hatte keine Klimaanlage und sowohl ihr als auch mein Badezimmer waren angeschmutzt und gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Lovely tranquil place located right on the beach and only a short walk from restaurants and bars. The place was one of the cleanest we stayed at in Sri Lanka. The staff were all lovely and I loved seeing the animals around the place. A lovely relaxing stay at the end of a long trip.

Top Lage, direkt am Strand. Wegen der Flugplatznähe ideal für die ersten und letzten Urlaubstage. Gutes Frühstück. Schöner Garten.

Bra pris, bra läge även om stranden inte var supermysig (rätt mycket skräp). Nära till flygplatsen. Bra frukost och mysig trädgård.

Our room was a bit pokey.

Instandhaltung wird in manchen Bereichen vernachlässigt. Der gesamte Strand in Negombo ist weitaus mehr vermüllt als an andern Orten der Insel. Vor dem Grundstück versucht man aber das Gröbste zu beseitigen.

Close to the beach in a garden setting

Selected for proximity to airport, garden, beachside setting, close to Negombo centre and single stiry rooms. Lovely old building. Quirky interior. Nicely furnished. Helpful staff. Openair restaurant terrace setting in garden. It's a nice pkace for a sunset and easy to get a tuk tuk into the town centre.

I stayed 1 night. While I understand hot climates attract them, I found a squashed cockroach on the floor, on arrival, a live one crawled out from under the bathroom mirror and in the morning discovered one under the bed. The mos quito net on the bed was tricky to scramble in abd out of. Food was served tepid rather than hot. The beach directly outside had a waste pipe emptying onto it. The hotel next door was loud until 11pm, which meant the early night in preparation for an early flight home didn't quite go to plan.

Lovely heritage room, thoughtfully furnished. Powerful shower. Gorgeous garden, an oasis from the busy street. Near to supermarkets for supplies. Good to have small separate kitchen area. An effective mosquito net- needed!

Slightly musty upon entry but there had been a lot of rain! The food was delicious but pricey for the quantity. Alas, nothing to do with the property but the beach was littered and mucky. It would have been good to have more than one char in the room.

Nothing, the garden is lovely, and I have stayed in a room on the garden and it was fine, but wow what a dissapointment the 3 bed apartment was.

We arrived having booked the 3 bedroom apartment, which seemed very cheap, to find it was in the house next door and was absolutely horrible. After a brief discussion with my brother, we decided we could not spend the final 2 days of our holiday in such an awful apartment. We asked if there were any other rooms, but there were none free, so we told the lady on reception that we would pay, but wouldn't stay in the apartment. In the end she agreed to charge for the first night and we found somewhere superb nearby fo a bit more but worth the extra.

Old property which is right next to the beach. Good place to stay close to airport when you arrive. I even swam in the morning.. Good breakfast.

The restaurant wasn't great. But there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The breakfast was good

Der Inhaber ist sehr nett, freundlich und bemüht. Der persönliche Umgang war angenehm und man fühlt sich grundsätzlich willkommen. In der Kommunikation war er hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt leider nicht ganz. Der Transfer vom Flughafen nach Negombo mit einem normalen Auto kostete 30 Euro, obwohl dieselbe Strecke mit der PickMe-App normalerweise nur etwa 1–3 Euro kostet. Zudem ist der Strand in der Nähe stark verschmutzt, und im Bereich zwischen Hotel und Strand gibt es Abwasser aus der Nachbarschaft, was den Gesamteindruck schmälert.

Stunning location with a gate straight onto the beach. Exceptional garden area full of interesting plants and trees, a true oasis. We didnt have breakfast but did enjoy a beautiful sri lankan evening meal. Staff were attentive and offered advice on sight seeing. I really like this hotel and will definately return.

Es war starker Wind…

Le jardin est très joli, l’emplacement est bien situe avec accès direct a la plage. une grande partie du personnel étaient bien disponible, et charmant.

l’appartement était vraiment rustique, très peu de prise pour brancher un chargeur. la propreté laisse a désirer, nous avons meme dormi sur les lits sans les ouvrir. la climatisation est une climatisation d’appoint tres ancienne, avec des fils denudés… pour un grand appartement elle n’est pas adaptée, d’autant qu’elle s’est arrêtée 10min après que nous soyons arrivés. On m’a dit que quelqu’un allait la regarder mais personne n’est jamais venu. pour finir, nous avions un taxi dejà payé ( via booking) qui devait nous récupérer pour l’aéroport, une personne de l’établissement nous informe que notre taxi l’a appellé pour prévenir qu’il avait eu un accident, mais qu’il pouvait nous trouver un nouveau chauffeur pour 20$. je lui ai dit non, que je prenais un Pick Me , bien moins cher. Il a rappellé son « contact « et bizarrement notre chauffeur est arrivé 2 minutes après , et n’avait pas eu d’accident…

Ich hatte einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Icebear Guesthouse, besser hätte mein Aufenthalt in Sri Lanka nicht beginnen können. Mein Zimmer war kuschelig und das Essen sehr lecker. Das Guesthouse liegt direkt am Strand und man hört das Meer rauschen. Der Garten ist zauberhaft. Nicht zu toppen ist allerdings das Personal, ganz besonders Priyana, die mir jeden Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen hat und so lieb war.

Alles gut, mir ist wichtig, dass die Atmosphäre stimmt

Der Strand ist schmuddelig, nebenan kommt eine übelriechende Kloake bis in den Strand Die Toilettenspülung ließ sich nicht stoppen und vergeudet Wasser Die Küche ist ziemlich langsam, aber man hat ja Zeit 😉

Svært vennlig personale. Rett ved stranden. Arrangerte veldig bra båttur i lagunen, anbefales! Fredelig og rolig, deilig å slappe av i hagen.

L'accueil, la gentillesse et l'efficacité du personnel ( départ pour l'aeroport à 5 h00 du matin sans problème) . Le jolie cadre verdoyant , la déco originale et gentiment surrannee ..

La propreté de la plage ..

This place is really a gem, especially for a day of relaxation at the beginning or end of a trip to Sri Lanka. The garden area opens onto a wide beach and is beautifully developed with plants, trees, and a few chickens and ducks. The rooms and patio areas are all uniquely decorated. Facilities are a bit older, but this also adds to the charm. The restaurant serves seafood at good value. The (Swiss) owners are kind people, and made us feel like family.

The location is amazing

The rooms are dark, smelly and the furniture is worn out. The bathroom has mold because of the poor airflow system. There were a lot of mosquitoes. The electric plugs are old and are falling apart. We didn’t like it so we canceled our stay in our time limit but they did not accept at first. And we went to another hotel.

Staff at the property were fantastic. Incredibly welcoming, easy process to check in and accommodating with rooms. Location is on the beach and there is a restaurant on-site. Helpful when I needed to leave without staying. Even provided a ride to my next destination!

The room I booked with booking.com was not available and the description was inaccurate. I was offered a few different rooms and finally settle on a room with a sofa. Unfortunately, the mildew and smell were so bad that I had to leave. And the perfume they use to address the smell made it considerably worse. The towels and bedding were thin and old. The property still had garbage about (two weeks post cyclone), the beach area in front was dirty and there was a mattress outside one of the rooms they offered me.

Beautiful gardens, lovely traditional furniture, prime location on the beach but lots of rubbish on the beach directly in front of the guest house. Friendly helpful staff.

Room smelt very musty and damp so we had to burn joss sticks to overcome. Bedding definitely needs replacing didn’t feel freshly laundered and mosquito net needed laundering. Toilet stopcock was broken so kept refilling and spilling water on bathroom floor, repair attempted but didn’t work. No hot water to shower and then when repaired was scalding hit and we needed to call maintenance to turn it off as too dangerous. Unfortunately our stay coincided with staff day out so only temporary staff no catering. We didn’t eat there because of this. We were only there for two nights and didn’t know beforehand.

Staff very helpful. Direct access to beach and local bars. Not far from town centre. Hotel gives free bike loan.

Difficult to say as we didn't stay, just booked the room so that we had somewhere to leave cases, shower, etc - had a flight in the middle of the night. Can't comment on beach activities as we only had a beach walk/went to a bar overlooking the sea, which was lovely.

We stayed two nights and our room was small but adequate with both a ceiling fan and air conditioning. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the garden restaurant in its quirky environment is a calm breezy oasis within the sound of breaking waves. It was nice to be able to walk straight onto the beach from the garden. The food was good, especially the amazing muesli and curd breakfast. We also hadn't a lovely sitting area outside our room which was particularly pleasant.

No complaints at all really, although some areas could do with a little refurbishment, for example, some electrical plugs and the toilet seat. However, these things should not put you off visiting The Icebear.

Bodde här en kväll efter cyklonen och personalen gjorde trots översvämningar dagen innan och bortblåsta tak min vistelse riktigt bra. Dessutom var deras trädgård otroligt välskött. Mycket glad över mitt val att bo här.

Finns absolut inget att klaga på.
