there was no hot water,so we had to change room for the second night, waited 3 hours for that.

Older building needs some fixing, but i do realize it is a very big building to maintain!

Room was clean. Quiet despite the location along a busy road.

The bed was clean. The other furniture in the room had dust on it. Parking garage looked run down and there were empty beer cans on the ground. When checking in at the front desk the only spot that looks like you can park is a tow away zone, and actual parking is on the opposite side of block. The elevator made a loud screeching sound. It felt somewhat scary to use it but my room was on the fifth floor so I couldn’t bring all my luggage up the stairs. I could hear the elevator from my room every time it was used.

I dont like hotel with only one entrance and exits. The fake smile at the cash everytime i go out for a smoke. Besides that its a good little spot

The hotel is poorly kept. It is very run down and dirty and in need of some serious TLC. My room had not been cleaned and looked like there had been a pretty decent party in it. I was moved to another room which was reasonable and was told I would be refunded one night. That did not happen. The hotel itself is not in a great spot. Lots of shifty folks around. Parking garage is disgusting, poorly lit and not secure. Signs at the front desk say not to leave anything in your car. The staff was reasonably helpful and I think they are doing their best, but I would not stay here again.

I disliked the homeless harassing guests outside the hotel, security should be on property, room service our towels got taken away left with only one, with two guests in room, Staff was friendly, Hallway, needs cleaning

Not a very " friendly " area. Was given the finger by a passerby out front of the property! The breakfast was very good and the employee very friendly.

The room itself was excellent and was a great price, but I had to walk my dogs late at night on the downtown city streets and there is no grass or green space near by. My dogs would defend me from anyone, so I felt safe enough with them, but downtown Timmins is a rough place at 2 am on a Saturday night. It does not feel safe.

We had a room where the one bed was a bit dirty and the staf were amazing and getting us set up right away with no issues. They were very nice and accommodating. Will definitely stay there again!!

Staff we excellent. Location was good except most restaurants in walking distance were closed early by 8 pm so we had to take a cab for food. Breakfast was good. And Alice the server was fantastic. She’s a keeper.

she's a tired old hotel. night staff didn't care one iota, no wifi code given, called to get it no answer, rust and age everywhere. once in room not bad I guess. spooky sounds in elevator. I wont stay again.

Dont let the exterior fool you. They have put a ton of work in on the inside. Super impressed with the confort, furnishings, cleanliness and hospitality.

We had to stay for one night in Val dor so we decided to choose something low budget as we needed 3 rooms. It was better than expected. All rooms were renovated and clean. For the price it was no brainer, good deal. Staff very polite and professional. Thank you Wael for the warm hospitality.

our stay was better than expected because we read some bad reviews before checking in. rooms are clean and quiet. however, hallways and elevator smell like an old building. there is a gate to the parking garage which makes you nervous that the area is not safe, although we didn't see anything unsafe. overall not a bad place to stay. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly.

The downtown area in Timmins is full of drug addicts who don't even hide when injecting themselves with street drugs. All around town are people pushing shopping carts with their belongings. Sad to see how Timmins went down that path. This used to be a clean city.

Had a great weekend stay at the Senator. Yoy want to stay on the 5th floor or above. Staff are all very friendly. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. Great free breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, sausages, home fries, toast, yogurt and juice. A lobby bar/restaurant would have been a bonus, but not a reason to not stay here. I would definately stay at The Senator again.

Facility is older and shows as such. always felt safe. updates are needed to modernize a bit and underground garage could use sone repair. not saying anything is bad or unsafe just could use some maintenance. I would stay there again, have in the past, many years ago. I feel I got what I paid for.

Entrance looked old and run down, lobby smelled of mildew. No restaurant on site with very limited options close by. Although a non-smoking facility the halls smelled of cigarettes and pot! Air conditioner in room extremely noisy. Wifi inconsistent. Apparently half the hotel was use for housing people displaced by flooding on reserves!

This hotel is not what it is on the pictures. The lobby part is renovated but other than that it was not renovated since the 80’s. The parking is disgusting and the bath in my room was patched with some plaster…

It was very cute. Felt like a little apartment.😁

Positives: great bed so we slept well! Negatives: the building is unfortunately a bit out of date and it seems like they’re trying to renovate. You can tell from everything on the floors and interior. Also, the carpets were not vacuumed well in our room as we found white specks here and there. The shower head was extremely weak.

The room was nice, and the building was vintage. unfortunately the town of Timmins is over run with questionable people roaming around.

Hotel is old but clean, staff is friendly. The gated parking garage was good but needs repair. Felt unsafe when I first checked out the lower levels. I wouldn’t go to level B stayed on level A. No place to plug in hybrid or electric vehicles.

Worst experience check in room was extremely filthy when I book resuwsyed late check out as we travel for work. Room service keep knock our door we put the do not disturb. Asking to check at 11 without seeing the notes never staying here unsafe hotel

Extremely rude concierge when I checked in- Never have I had to pay a deposit or this time he made me pull in cash for him. Was strange. However, the lady in the morning when I checked out very, very helpful very very kind very very pleasant

Perfect for staying downtown. The hotel is located conveniently close to everything but it is a bit outdated, especially the washrooms. Breakfast was great, staff was excellent.

There was a guys stuck in the elavator for an hour because alll the doors and exits where locked and you couldn’t get to the lobby and then they weren’t picking up the phone at the front desk

It was a quiet and safe hotel, especially for a signal women traveling alone. I did struggle with the entrance and had to call the main desk before I was able to access the underground parking.

I didn’t even stay at the hotel. I left. There was crackheads smoking crack in the entryways no security. It stunk like cigarette smoke In the lobby, it was a completely disgusting experience. The hotel said they were going to reverse the charges. I sincerely hope they did. Perhaps hotels.com should evaluate the propers to use that it is advertising for because I cannot imagine the employees of hotels.com staying at this place thank you thank you

Easy to book and easy to access

I paid for a room there expecting to have a good breakfast that comes with my stay. Only to be I bossed around by the employee saying I’m not allowed to touch the juice. It’s not even self serve breakfast too, I tried to make a plate and the employee took it from me and made it herself. If someone pays for a room , we should be able to enjoy our breakfast without being limited. Won’t be staying there again.

Though I only stayed for 6hrs, I felt unsafe the entire time I was there. A lot of addicts around the area :( not recommended for solo travelers specially females.

The check-in was good and staff was very helpful. However, it seems my the bed had bugs because I found bug bites on my arms the next day, and my arm was reacting to whatever it was that bit me. And no, I hadn't gone anywhere else but my room. Check-out was seamless too.

Staff and cleaners very polite and ready to help. Pictures on site didn't really show how it would look on arrival. Update pictures to insure we know and see what we are booking and staying at. Room very clean and nice to stay in. Breakfast very good with options. Safety precautions were taken in lower underground parking rea with controlled gate and secured perimeter.

Nearest to town and all your needs

Bad area with homeless and addicts hanging out when you pull in to park and bugging you for stuff. Also the place wasn’t very clean and is extremely run down. The breakfast buffed wasn’t bad, but self serve would be allot better. The girl working there wasn’t very welcoming or even really talked for that matter.

The Senator Hotel in Timmins is very nice and clean, good service and also the parking lot it safe and secured. For sure I’ll keep staying at this hotel.

Didn’t even make it to this hotel. Was advised by my cab driver on the way from the airport when I asked to go there « not to a good idea to go there as a single female traveller ». Though I bought a refundable package, I was told it was NOT refundable because I had bought it hours before my arrival and they only refund 24 hours in advance…and safety is not a reason for a refund. So they got my money and I went to a safer hotel. WORTH IT.

Good breakfast. Friendly staff. The actual room was ok but the rest of the building was pretty dirty and run down. Only one elevator was working. The parking garage was sketchy and there is limited parking for vehicles with ski boxes on top and larger vehicles.

Under the red couch was dirty & someone sock was there, stained brown on the sheet & kinda rude staff, the always seem like their in a bad mood, front desk wouldn’t give me my pay of 250 because of a brown stain that wasn’t mine.

We cancelled the room once we got there. They had a main break and hotel smelt like sewers. The elevators weren’t working. Had to use the stairs and carry your luggage. We went to Holiday inn across the street.

Due to the poor water quality had dirty brown water coming out of the washroom taps, we had to cut our stay short water was also ice cold. Although hotel was very nice decorated very well for the holidays.

The only need to improve is the internet connection, and make sure the quest have access fast and reliable internet.

The hotel smell so bad. The whole time its smells like dog poops even at the concierge and elevator. We have to move hotel because it is not clean. Hotel needs to sanitize carpets.
