Very clean.

Room was spacious. There was dog that was barking while I was trying to nap but it was quiet at night.

This was such a little gem to stay in! I wish we could’ve stayed more than the one night but we’ll definitely be staying here the next time we visit. I loved the bed and breakfast feel mixed with the old school hotel vibes. My boyfriend and I played a game of pool together, and then played a couple of games with one of the guests. I love the included drinks and snacks that were available, the muffins were delicious! I also loved the “real keys”, it was a nice touch. Some people may not care for the lack of cable tv, it didn’t bother me whatsoever but some old school people might not be as keen. Other than that, I don’t see any reason why anyone would have an issue staying here. It was a breeze checking in and checking out. Again, I loved this place and will definitely be back!

Nice unique rooms and facility, 24 hr snacks/breakfast and drinks. Super nice manager which gave a quick tour and explanation of room and facility. All good and would definitely stay again. Only critic in general not specific to this property is that Timmins though just seems higher priced for accommodations than surrounding areas for some reason (almost Toronto room prices all over the city) - more business stays driving them up?

This is an old building in a downtown location. The area is not that great - quite warn down as is the outside of this building. The inside of the inn is old fashion decor and the breakfast is very limited. The air conditioner was very loud and right next to the bed which did not make for a quiet sleep. The mini fridge motor was also very loud. I would rate this as a 2 or 3 star hotel and if you can get a low rate it would be ok. We went in the high season and the rate for value was not good.

There was no restaurant or gym as the listing advertised!! It is a very small hotel, Breakfast provided had no protein or fresh food options like eggs, fruits or vegetables. Only bread, cereal, instant oatmeal, yogurt, milk.

The place was quite,clean and comfortable. The host really did a great job.

I paid to reserve a queen bed and instead got 2 double beds. There was also a bug in my room. This service is unlike what I normally receive at the Balsam.

Great stay. Our room was large and comfortable. Beds were comfy and living room was lovely, even a fireplace for ambiance. Complimentary snacks were a nice touch. The great room had all kinds of options, books games fireplace and even a pool table. We would most definitely stay here again.

It seems some parts were under construction (?), including the dining area (?) and the gym, which was not available (although this was not clear when booking). We were greeted by a large barking dog. The area of downtown is convenient but nothing special. Clean rooms were nice. The all-day breakfast is just bread/toast, muffins, and juice/coffee (Keurig). The bed wasn't great. It's definitely a fine place to stay in Timmins, but not a 9.8/10 — that rating seems sorely out of whack with reality.

Facilities were great. Parking is not secure.

It was a great room, and there was a place in the hotel to eat breakfast, prepare your own meals, and generally hang out outside your room. Great place! Would stay there again next time we're in Timmins.

Excellent for a downtown hotel. Very clean and unique suites with a B&B feel with a self serve all day continental fare. Wished we could have stayed there longer than one night. The only negative was a noisy room fan.

Stylish, very clean, good supply of food for snacks and breakfast, thoughtful options for reading and games in common area, warm welcome. And plenty of space in a unit arranged like a one-bedroom condo. One of the most enjoyable places we’ve stayed in decades of travelling.

The room and the hotel were clean but overall everything was very cheap. I didn't expect the non groomed receptionist with no welcoming smile. There is no reception area.The breakfast area was messy, with non standard arrangement for a hotplate and plastic utensils and poor selection of items to eat. Nothing made me feel exited to be there. Skip the smaller than standard pool table. Quailty is in the details.

The owners are so welcoming, the rooms are large and clean and filled with up to date amenities and lots of extras (24hr breakfast bar, laundry, netflix, etc.) I would absolutely stay here again.

The staff went out of their way to make sure I was feed, comfortable and had everything I needed. The room was lovely, very clean, nice soaker bathtub. Am extremely satisfied and would definitely stay there again. I would very much recommend this hotel.

This place is amazing. Staff is great. The room was great. The whole Inn was beautiful.

Highly recommended. Alissa was a wonderful host, and we enjoyed meeting Frankie (her dog). Appreciated the kitchen where we could borrow plates, wine glasses, etc. You can even do a load of laundry if you need to. The self-serve continental breakfast bar was perfect for us, no fuss, just help yourself to whatever you want, any time of the day. Stayed in the executive king suite and it was lovely. A highlight of our trip up north.

Clean andd private

We anticipated a bed and breakfast environment and decided on this property because a hot breakfast was advertised. We found out later that hasn't been offered since before COVID. The only window in the room was covered in glass bricks which made the room dark and gave it more of a basement apartment feel than a hotel. I think I met someone who worked there but there was never anyone at the front desk in the three days/nights we were there and that was on our last evening. We only learned about the fact they were no longer offering breakfast because of another guest who had been there before and had their door open because there was no air conditioning in their room. The property was clean, but it was not at all as advertised.

It’s has pleasant atmosphere. The room was nice except the couch was worn out. The website said it had waffles,pancakes and bacon and eggs free for breakfast. It didn’t just your simple continental breakfast. The website should be updated

Nice, clean, large room. However, the first night of street parking was maddening as there were no signs posted saying there was street cleaning and when we came out in the morning our son in laws new car was covered in mud and tiny rocks. We were very upset! Also, the advertisement online mentions a hot breakfast as a free amenity. False advertising as there was none.

Alisa was so lovely and made sure I was given a quick tour even though I checked in pretty late at night. She made sure I had everything I needed before I arrived and gave me her number just in case. The place was so adorable and I loved the 24/7 continental breakfast and all the other amenities. I travel a lot for work and liked that it felt cozy but still had the professional hotel feel. I’ve already told my coworkers how much I liked Balsam Suites and will definitely stay here again!

I have not a single complaint, the building is extremely well kept, it’s a very nice hotel i enjoyed my stay. The ambient temperature of the building was great the room had a built in heater I never needed it. The living space is awesome, there’s a living room, bedroom and bathroom all separate from each other. It has a pool table, and they don’t have hot breakfast but that’s due to Covid 19! They still offer a continental breakfast with free drinks and snacks. It’s also located well out of traffic so you don’t need to listen to cars driving by all day. They also have private parking in the lot in the back of the building as well as free parking out in the street in front. Thanks for the wonderful stay, I’ll be back in the future !

This place was amazing. From booking to leaving. I called about parking availability of a large vehicle. Plenty of room. Owner was super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and beautiful. Walking distance to amenities in the downtown area. Laundry machine on site and free to use. 24 hr well stocked complimentary breakfast.

Our room was perfect.exactly what they showed online. The bed was beyond comfortable. We had our best nights sleep in years. The owners were so wonderful and they had all day snacks available. The outside is misleading, not so wonderful, but once you come inside it is fantastic. They had a pool table in the common area which was great for us. The covid protocols were amazing. They have definiitely thought of everthing. I csnt say enough good things about this place and would highly recommend staying here if you sre in Timmins.

Great atmosphere without the hustle/bustle of large chain hotels. Warm personal care from the owners definitely added a comfortable feel unlike most hotels can offer.

I truly enjoyed my stay, felt like a home away from home. The staff was friendly & welcoming, the hot freshly made breakfast was delicious. Access to their free 24hr cafe was so convenient with snacks, drinks, homemade muffins. The room was so cozy with the fireplace, the bed & pillows were very comfortable, access to netflix. I will always stay there when visiting Timmins, loved it! A+ 😀

Great experience. Room spotless and very spacious. Very friendly staff and so hospitable. So many extras that you never expect including small kitchen area stocked with sodas, yogurt, cheese, coffee, tea and more. Also omelets and waffles made to order. The fries potatoes are off the chart, best I’ve ever had. Will definitely stay again when in the area and I recommend staying here 100%.

They are very friendly and caring hosts to stay with. We had to cut our stay short due to a family emergency,(he is getting better) but would stay there again. It is a central location to many things and the room we had was clean and quiet. A must stay place.

This was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at.with super soft towels. The staff is extremely friendly and have thought of everything you might need while there. There is a free snack bar and it is stocked with coke (pop) Not Pepsi!!! I was able to watch Netflix while catching up on my work projects. Will be going back.

This is an odd hotel. I believe that it's a repurposed one-storey commercial building. The front of the hotel is like a store front on a street. There is no one on the desk and you have to buzz to get in. Someone does come and check-in is easy. There are 10 suites in the place. Our room had a distinct mouldy and musty smell. LIke an old gym bag. Surprised that they would rent this room without airing it out. Unacceptable. The odour never left. Parking was free but either on the street or down an alley behind another building- unsupervised and gravel. I parked on the street overnight. My vehicle was fine but parking was substandard and poor for the rate that I was paying. Wouldn't recommend it,

Wow! What a hidden gem. We travel to Timmins ALL the time and have never heard of this place. We are SO happy we did! We will never stay anywhere else again. The personal touches and thought put into everything is second to none. The breakfast... make sure you go! Delicious! The waffles were amazing! We are so happy we found this place. We’re actually sad we only stayed for one night. All these reviews don’t lie - you will be so pleasantly surprised with this place 😊

Hotelier conducts hotel tour for guests showing all provide amenities...a nice intro to this comfortable boutique hotel . This is a unique hotel with a homey atmosphere and lovely updated suites. The homemade breakfasts are excellent, snacks available day and night, laundry facilities and areas to relax. It has a bed and breakfast atmosphere but also has the privacy of spacious suites. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful and relaxing stay!
