It was in a neighborhood that was not condusive for a single female relying on uber. Close to a few restaurants, never having been to East London before the location was not what I expected, it being on the ocean front, I was expecting night life, shops and a “vibe”. I think my expectation was something different.

Reviewed Jul 22, 2026The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The view from the room was phenomenal. There was no gym at the hotel, but, if you ask the front desk, they'll arrange for you to use the gym at the hotel next door.
A window in the room couldn't close, which made the room rather cold in winter. This was also the case in my friend's room, so the problem might be wider spread than just the two rooms. The location was very convenient for attending a conference at the ICC next door, but it wasn't particularly good for exploring the area on foot.

I was told I had been upgraded when I arrived to check in, but upon seeing the mold covered bathroom and bedroom ceilings, the toilet starting to fall off it's wall mounting, the dilapidated furniture and carpeting, and the cockroach in my bedroom, I would hate to have seen what the state of my original room would have been! Cleaning staff also regularly ignored the "do not disturb" sign hung on the door, and on two occasions tried to force my door open despite the chain lock (!!!) which was very unsettling to hear as I was getting reading the bathroom. The location is also terrible with almost nothing of interest within walking distance. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've ever had, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. I was so disappointed with everything that I moved my flight up by a day to return to Cape Town so I wound't have to stay another night, and when I checked out the lady at the desk actually tried to guilt trip me for checking out early after they had "upgraded" me, even though I didn't complain about the room! That was surreal. Definitely not going to be back here anytime soon (and hopefully ever!).

Their housekeeping staff RUDE. I arranged for a late check-out to be 12h00 but their housekeeping staff knocked in my room Twice like police. The second knock was at 11h40 where the lady said I better be out of the room by 12h00 (mind you I'm in the shower) so she is shouting from outside. That happened today being 5/062026 and I was stating at room 418. For that mistreatment I hated being there and will never ever arrange late check-out. If I do come back again it will be because of the lovely security and reception staff and the beautiful room
