Novotel Aachen City

Ich habe aus beruflichen Gründen schon in hunderten Hotels gewohnt, aber keines hat nettere Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen und behandelt Hunde besser als das Novotel in Aachen. Ein riesiges Dankeschön dafür! Die Hunde bekamen nicht nur Leckerlis, Näpfe und Decken, es gab auch eine Foto-Session und Hundespielzeug. Also eine absolute Top-Adresse für alle, die mit ihrem geliebten Vierbeiner die Kaiserstadt am Dreiländereck besuchen und eine gute Zeit haben wollen!

Very nice hotel and rooms, all very clean. The position is great, you can reach the city center and every service by feet.

The room wasn't quiet large for a family of four. The bathroom is split between a room with the toilet and another room with sink and shower: it isn't quiet practical. The room had no fridge which I always find useful in a hotel room.

Un hôtel réservé à l'occasion du Grand Prix de F1 en Belgique. L'emplacement à Aix-la-Chapelle est vraiment pratique et le service sur place a été impeccable du début à la fin. merci au receptionistes pour leurs services !

Côté points négatifs, le bruit de la rue était très présent dans la chambre et la climatisation manquait franchement de puissance. Pour un court séjour, cela reste secondaire et gérable, mais j'ai trouvé le prix globalement assez cher pour ce niveau de confort, même si la période du Grand Prix gonfle forcément les tarifs. Un choix correct pour dépanner sur un week-end d'événement, mais avec quelques détails à prendre en compte si vous avez le sommeil léger et que vous compter dormir la fenetre ouverte.

This hotel is very conveniently located, right opposite the main bus station and in the shopping area. In the past, I have stayed in this hotel quite a number of times. After several years of absence, I returned and my first thought was that the hotel has been maintained very well. Everything looked as fine as it did back then. As before, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. It had everything that I needed, including a work desk, a sofa, a safety deposit box that fitted my 16" laptop, a luggage rack, complimentary coffee and tea, enough space to hang your clothes, etc. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was somewhat on the small side, but functional. In addition to the shower it also had a bath tub. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It was very extensive, with high quality food items, both warm and cold. It made for a great start of the day. There is one thing that could be improved. The air-conditioning was not powerful enough to sufficiently cool the room. This was an issue, because it was in the middle of the summer. Luckily, the windows could be opened, but this was not enough to cool the room to a more comfortable temperature.

zentrale Lage (15 Gehminuten zur Altstadt), gutes reichhaltiges Frühstück, freundliches Personal und aus dem Wasser-dispenser im Foyer immer frisches gekühltes Wasser (still od. sprudelnd)

Die Zimmerausstattung ist spartanisch, ohne geschlossenen Kleiderschrank und statt Nachtkästchen lediglich ein Ablagebrett und Steckdose nur auf einer Bettseite.

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Maden i I restauranten var middelmådig og det brød de serverede var meget kedeligt.

Saubere und gräumige Zimmer, gutes Frühstück, Fitnessbereich. Funktionierende Klimaanlage.

Die Lage in Aachen ist zwar zentral neben der Altdtadt gelegen. Die Klientel erinnerte mich aber eher an den Frankfurter Hauptbahnhofbezirk.

A reggeli bőséges volt, az étterem tágas, a kiszolgálás barátságos. A szálláshelyről a belváros hihetetlenül szép és gazdag nevezetességei gyalog, rövid idő alatt elérhetők.

A szálloda épülete modern, kissé lélektelen.

No refrigerator🤪😂 we stayed during warm/ heatwave period. But understand the situation since the city experiences warm weather probably only few days in a year.

Personal und Zimmer sind sehr gut und sehr freundlich.

Das Frühstück ist einfach zu teuer mit 26€/Person.

Ein toller Aufenthalt in Aachen. Ganz tolles Zimmer mit Dusche und Badewanne sowie großem Bett und separater Couch. Super auch, dass Bad und WC getrennt sind. Alles sehr sauber und ordentlich. Trotz sehr zentraler Lage ziemlich ruhig. Super Frühstück mit allem drum und dran für 26 Euro p.P. Bügelraum gibt es auch sowie kostenloses Wasser. Parken direkt in der TG im Haus auch sehr praktisch, wenn auch etwas teuer.

Das war wirklich super. Ein Rabatt auf die Parkgebühr in der TG wäre toll und vielleicht etwas bequemere Kopfkissen. Aber da kann man es eh keinem recht machen.

We were a bit late, a group of about eight, but you kept the kitchen open for us.

Our window looked out onto the street. It was very noisy.

Very good location.

Rooms smelled funny and parking is by a third company and expensive.

The room was very clean. The staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was excellent.

Shower a bit too small (bathtub could be removed as far as I am concerned). I missed a mini bar in the room. The direct neighbourhood was not great, though very close to the city center.

Reception person brilliant. Great ambassador for the hotel. Staff carry the hotel. Dog friendly. Organised a dog bed - saved us bringing ours in. Breakfast was good.

Edgy part of town. Good car park but another 13 euros on top of a pricey hotel given the area, no washbasin in the separate loo, compact room and bathroom, poor quality pillows. And only one pillow. Hotel Perfectly ok for overnight stay. But price point is too high.

Great location to explore the city and close the ne cultural venue. Comfy beds. Despite the building being next to a busier street it was super quiet when windows are closed. The air conditioning in the rooms is property designed so that the air never smells stale.

Some wear and tear here and there and the corridors didn’t smell good. The lobby was too warm with the 37degree heat outside.

Novotel Aachen is a stylish modern hotel. We liked the clean and comfortable rooms, the professional staff and the location right at the edge of the city center. The breakfast was really great.

The wifi connection was a bit unstable, this could be improved.

Suituated near city centre, adjacent parking (but for regular fee of 18eu/dag), friendly staff, bar open till midnight but alcoholic provisions in the lobby as well. The room is pretty quiet, given that the Germans were setting off firework in the streets and yelling after they won a world cup game.

Airconditioning was not functioning in my room (129) ... amidst temperatures 30 degrees celsius. Which made my sleep terrible both during the day (after nightshift) as in the night (saturday night).

The room was clean, spaciouse and honestly good value for money. I read some reviews about the temperature of the rooms. But I could regulate the temperature in my room just fine, even when it was 35 degrees outside my room was cool and nice.

The hotel is next to a casino, so sometimes it can be a bit noisy outside.

Freundliches Prrsonal, kurze Wege zu Stadtmitte und Eurogress Konferenzzentrum, sehr gute Betten, Zimmer leise obwohl zur Straße gelegen.

Kein ordentlicher Schrank im Zimmer, Fön und Steckdose im Bad funktionierte nicht, Lampe am Bett funktionierte nicht. Die Umgebung ist sehr stark durch Zuwanderer geprägt, in der Tiefgarage campierten Obdachlose. Viele Bettler auf der Straße. Insgesamt macht die Gegend nicht den besten Eindruck. Dafür kann das Hotel aber nichts.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after this stay I feel obligated to share my experience so that future travelers can make an informed decision. This hotel was booked through a travel agent after specifically searching for a property near Aachen’s city center with air conditioning. Air conditioning was not a preference for this trip, it was a requirement. Based on the hotel’s descriptions, amenities, and marketing materials, we believed this property met that requirement. Upon arrival, the room was considerably smaller than expected based on the photographs presented online. While room dimensions may technically be disclosed within the listing, I would strongly encourage prospective guests to rely on the published measurements rather than the photographs when evaluating room size. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of the issues. After entering the room, it became apparent that the room was not cooling. I attempted to operate the climate controls myself and even located the operating instructions online to ensure I was using the system correctly. Despite this, no cool air was being produced. I also discovered there was no telephone in the room, requiring me to visit the front desk in person for assistance. At the front desk, I raised concerns regarding the room size, the lack of a telephone, and the apparent failure of the air conditioning. While I was informed that room dimensions were available on the website, I also noted that amenities such as telephone service and wired internet appeared to be referenced in room descriptions despite not being available in my room. Approximately fifteen minutes later, a staff member arrived to examine the air conditioning. After looking at the controls, I was informed that the system was functioning correctly and was “as cold as it would go.” When I explained that the room was not cooling, I was asked whether it was “not cold enough” for me. The interaction left me with the clear impression that my concerns were being dismissed rather than investigated. No explanation was provided regarding the operation of the building’s cooling system. No meaningful troubleshooting was performed. Instead, I was offered a fan as the solution. The fan did not arrive for approximately two hours. The situation became even more confusing when my travel agent contacted the hotel on my behalf. My agent was informed that I had already been moved to another room. This was untrue. I had not been moved. My agent was then informed that I would be moved the following day. However, when I followed up regarding this arrangement, hotel staff appeared to have no knowledge of any planned room change. As a result, both my travel agent and I were attempting to resolve an issue based on information that was inconsistent, contradictory, and ultimately inaccurate. The most surprising part of the entire experience occurred at checkout. At that time, I was informed that the hotel’s air conditioning system is not activated until outside temperatures remain above 22°C for a sustained period. If that information is accurate, it directly contradicts what I had been told when I reported the issue. I was informed that the system was functioning normally and operating as intended. At checkout, I was effectively told that the system was not operating at all due to hotel policy. Had this information been communicated honestly and clearly during my first conversation with staff, the entire situation could have been resolved in minutes. One additional point worth mentioning is the location. While the property may technically qualify as being within the city center depending on how the boundaries are defined, many visitors expecting to be in the heart of Aachen’s historic center may find it farther from the main attractions than anticipated. During our stay, we encountered numerous vacant storefronts, neglected buildings, graffiti, and areas that appeared to be in visible decline along the routes between the hotel and the areas we were visiting. Others may have a different impression, but the surrounding neighborhood was not consistent with what we expected when booking a hotel described as being in the city center. Ultimately, my disappointment stems less from the room itself and more from the way legitimate concerns were handled. Hotels experience maintenance issues. Travelers understand that. What matters is clear communication, accurate information, and professional customer service. Instead, I encountered conflicting explanations, inaccurate information provided to my travel agent, amenities that did not match my expectations from the listing, and interactions that left me feeling that reasonable concerns were being treated as an inconvenience rather than addressed. That is what I will remember most about my stay at Novotel Aachen City.
