Beautiful location and stunning design
We was told we'd get a refund withon 15 days because we was placed in a downgraded room but we never received it. Despite being told by the manager on charge. Extremely disappointed
Must read.. Amazing place and people, we have been going to Sandals for years now and recently due to medical reasons (cancer) I stopped drinking. I was nervous about going to an all inclusive that I love to indulge at. We notified the butlers (Andre and Johvan) they informed the manager of food and beverage (Wayne and Collin) and Roshane the manager of guest relations went out and purchased non alcoholic beer for me. AMAZING !! Ever time I would see the GM and Hotel manager (Omar and Marvin) they would make sure I was taken care of “as they do with all guests” but just making sure it was going good with the non-alcoholic drinks. Every night we would hang out at the pub and Junior and Garnet would make me a different special mocktail every night. They do have a menu of mocktails there FYI. So after being nervous about not drinking it was 100% comfortable. So anyone that’s thinking of going and not drinking they will definitely take great care of you as they have for us for years. Just passing on the extra mile sandals goes for all guest.
My husband and I spent a week at Sandals Royal Plantation celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The resort is beautiful and intimate, but what truly makes it special is the staff. It is clear that General Manager Omar sets the tone through the way he personally interacts with guests and makes everyone feel at home. Our butlers, Richard and Duwainey, were exceptional. They surprised us with thoughtful touches throughout the week, including snacks, notes, sparkling wine, a bubble bath, and even my husband’s favorite bourbon. They anticipated needs before we even knew to ask. Daniello and Romane took wonderful care of us on the beach, where we spent most of our days. Brandon brought great energy and fun to the entertainment, while Andre, Nicole, and Stefenie were always warm and welcoming. Devoy made us feel special from the moment we arrived, and Demario provided wonderful service during our meals. Lashauna was especially memorable. She was incredibly kind, warm, and genuine, and she made breakfast each morning feel special. The entire team helped turn an important milestone into a week we will always treasure. We left feeling rested, grateful, and genuinely sad to say goodbye. We cannot wait to return to Sandals Royal Plantation.
This was the most relaxing vacation ever Our butlers (Dewaney and Richard) were the nicest people as were Marvin and all the other staff!! Nothing was too much trouble and as always the food and drink was off the charts. We can’t wait to visit again. Sandals never disappoints!
This is a top pick of Sandals properties for my wife and I. It is a smaller location and we like that. Plantation is not the woo-woo crowd place to go. We are a bit older and so was most of the guests. If you are looking for a relaxing and respectful break, this is the place. Super chill and laid back. The dinners were really good. This is a top Sandals property for quality dinners. Everyone is so nice and helpful and our butlers were great. Although you can take a quick trip to Ochie we did not. We had some friends that went to Ochie for dinner and they had a good time. Our butler went to Ochie and got us lunch from the Jerk Shack and it was exactly like the old island restaurant on Sandals Royal island. We loved this property so much we already booked again. The manager is the best and clearly demands a high level of service from all that work for him and it shows in a good way.
We just returned from an incredible stay at Sandals Royal Plantation, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. If you’re looking for a smaller, quieter resort with exceptional service, this is it. The resort is beautifully maintained, spotless, and has a cozy, intimate feel that made it easy to completely relax. The food was outstanding throughout our stay, but Le Papillon deserves special recognition. I had what was quite possibly the best lobster I’ve ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to our server, Garfield, who went above and beyond to make our dining experience unforgettable. His warmth, professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality elevated an already exceptional meal. We spent countless hours enjoying the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea and the cold plunge pool, which has one of the most spectacular views imaginable. We also took both the glass-bottom boat tour and the garden tour, and they were highlights of our stay. Jordion made the garden tour both informative and entertaining, while Tiwaine and Fabian kept everyone laughing on the boat and made the excursion an absolute blast. One of the most relaxing parts of our vacation was our visit to the Red Lane Spa. Sharon and Marva gave us incredible treatments, and we left feeling completely refreshed. They were both skilled, welcoming, and truly excellent at what they do. Our butlers, Robert and Anthony, took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made our anniversary and birthday celebrations feel truly special. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to every detail made us feel genuinely cared for. We also have to recognize Marvin, the Operations Manager. He seemed to be everywhere at once, always checking on guests, keeping things running smoothly, and somehow still finding time to make everyone laugh. His positive attitude was infectious and added so much to the welcoming atmosphere of the resort. Finally, we have to recognize the General Manager, Omar. It is obvious that his leadership has created an incredible culture throughout the resort. Every single staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. What amazed us most was Omar himself. Somehow, from the very first day, he seemed to know every guest by name. We were first-time visitors, yet when we attended the Welcome Home Dinner, he greeted us by name as if we were returning guests. That level of attentiveness is remarkable and speaks volumes about how much he genuinely cares about every person staying at the resort. His leadership and personal touch set the tone for the entire guest experience. Thank you to everyone at Sandals Royal Plantation for giving us a vacation we’ll never forget. We left feeling relaxed, celebrated, and genuinely cared for. We are already looking forward to our next visit and can confidently say this will not be our last stay. We will absolutely be returning!
Returned to SRP as part of a split stay for our 2nd renewal at Dunns. Hadn't been back since 2021 during our first ReTie the Knot and we've missed it! Though Arnold's no longer there, Omar is continuing the tradition of taking care of this little secret hideaway. We are sorry we missed the VIP luncheon this time-but definitely for next visit. Special Kudos to Marvin, ops manager for taking care of the property and guest when we visited. Working hard, talking the talk and walking the walk. We see you. Okeen may have been the hardest working server on the terrace for Italian alfresco. Beautiful beach and "plunge" pool thank you to Romane, Daniello, and Trevardo for excellent service. Delish dinner (our fav!) at Le Papillion with Joseph. JLee at the Peacock/Grill was the friendliest. Thank you to Tian and Vanya at Bfast each morning/Peter w/ room service. Horatio at Insiders club was efficient and so professional. (We recognize that having a game room/Insiders club w/ AC is a jewel) Lastly, Orayne and Safiyalee (along with/ Gladstone and Sherrill) are the hosts with the mostest-the barbifry chicken and the shepherds pies at Blue Shadow (and dominoes) were so special-thank you.
Having just finished our third stay at Sandals Royal Plantation, it’s really no surprise to us that so many guests come back year after year. It’s a genuinely special resort with a feel that is quite different from the rest of the Sandals collection. What immediately sets it apart is the staff. They are some of the warmest, friendliest and most genuine people we’ve ever met. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and they consistently go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They remember your name, your favourite drink, and always greet you with a smile, which makes the whole experience feel very personal and relaxed. Within that exceptional team, our butlers Gladstone and Sherrile deserve particular recognition. They were simply outstanding, striking the perfect balance between being attentive and never intrusive. Somehow they always appeared exactly when needed, yet quietly stepped back when it was time to unwind. Every interaction was delivered with warmth and genuine care, and they played a huge part in making our stay so memorable. Beyond our butlers, there were many other staff members who made a lasting impression. Vanya was consistently cheerful and genuinely pleased to see guests, which made every exchange feel authentic. Anthony regularly went out of his way to make us feel special, while Tresell ensured we were always well looked after during pre-dinner cocktails and relaxed evening drinks. The management team also deserve enormous credit for the culture they have created. Omar, the General Manager, leads by example in a way we have rarely seen. It was not unusual to see him serving drinks by the pool, clearing plates after meals, or simply taking time to chat with guests to ensure everyone was enjoying their stay. His remarkable ability to remember names and personally greet guests speaks volumes about the tone he sets throughout the resort. Supporting him, Marvin was equally visible and proactive, consistently engaging with guests and making a point of remembering names. Mahesh was always welcoming and friendly, never without a smile, while Horatio stood out as one of the nicest young men we have met at any Sandals property—an absolute credit to the resort. While the service is the standout feature, the dining experience is another major highlight. Having stayed at several all-inclusive resorts, including others within the Sandals group, we found the food here to be noticeably superior. Every meal was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and consistently excellent from start to finish. The facilities complement this relaxed atmosphere perfectly. Some guests mention that the pool is small, but we feel it suits the resort entirely. This is not a place for large-scale entertainment or a lively party scene. Instead, Sandals Royal Plantation is designed for calm, quiet relaxation and understated luxury. The all-butler-suite concept reinforces that sense of effortless comfort and personal attention. Overall, this is a boutique hotel with real elegance and character, but it is the people who truly bring it to life. The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming, never stuffy or pretentious, and the resort maintains a warmth and intimacy that is increasingly rare. Sandals Royal Plantation is undoubtedly one of the most unique and charming resorts in the entire Sandals collection. It has a personality all of its own, which is exactly why so many guests—including ourselves—return year after year. Finally, to every member of staff whose name we have not mentioned, thank you. Every single person plays a part in making this such a remarkable place to stay. If you are looking for exceptional personal service, timeless elegance, and a resort with genuine character rather than a large, high-energy complex, this hidden gem is very hard to beat. We are already looking forward to our fourth visit.
There are very few all-inclusive resorts that leave such an impression that you find yourself planning your return before you’ve even left. Sandals Royal Plantation is the royal exception. Some places promise luxury. Royal Plantation simply delivers it—quietly, effortlessly, and consistently. From the moment you arrive until the moment you reluctantly say goodbye, you are made to feel genuinely valued. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of exceptional. One of the things that makes this resort so special is its intimate, boutique atmosphere. Every suite offers an ocean view, and because the resort is smaller, it never feels crowded. There is no rushing to reserve beach chairs or waiting in lines. Whether you’re by the beach, the pool, or enjoying a meal, everything feels peaceful and unhurried. The food is outstanding. Every restaurant is excellent, but the French restaurant deserves special recognition. From perfectly prepared lamb and lobster to rich, decadent foie gras, each meal feels like fine dining rather than typical all-inclusive fare. The butler service elevates the experience to another level. There is something wonderfully surreal about relaxing on the beach while your butlers appear with fresh lobster, pizza straight from the oven, or a chilled champagne cooler. They somehow anticipate what you need before you even think to ask. A very special thank you to our incredible butlers, Sherril and Gladstone. Their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made us feel truly cared for throughout our stay. They created the kind of personalized experience that turns a wonderful vacation into an unforgettable one. We would also like to recognize General Manager Omar, whose passion for hospitality is evident everywhere. It is rare to see a general manager so visible and engaged—greeting guests by name, checking in throughout the day, and ensuring every detail is perfect. His leadership is reflected in the entire team and the exceptional atmosphere they create. This was our fourth visit to Sandals Royal Plantation, and that probably says more than anything else we could write. In a world full of beautiful resorts, this is the one we continue to come home to. We are already looking forward to our fifth visit.
First time to Jamaica, lovely hotel, approximately 1.5/2 hrs from airport depending on time of day/traffic. Hotel in slight need of update but bizarrely this adds to the charm, everything is perfectly clean and in working order though. Staff are so genuinely friendly, amazing and full of natural Jamaican personality, the example set by managers Omar and Marvin, who are front and centre of every task, from meeting and greeting to handing out lollipops on the beach. This, without doubt, is the best run hotel I've stayed at with all facilities in top condition. Restaurant service is top notch, occasionally let down by standard of food, in particular room service meals. Buffet meals hot and hygienic, especially breakfast service which also offers a menu order. Beach is immaculate and beach butlers attentive but not intrusive. Very quiet at night, so easy to sleep and beds are very comfortable. The hotel has a lot of returning guests, personally, I prefer somewhere new each year but if I did return to Jamaica I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Certainly recommend to anyone considering a visit. Well done Sandals, big thanks to each and every member of staff we met, massive team effort, (pay them some more!!)
We just returned from our 5th trip to Sandals Royal Plantation. This was our 2nd visit in 2026 and we're fortunate enough to be returning for a 3rd time. Friends and colleagues ask why we rarely travel anywhere else. Every stay truly feels like coming home. The property is small, beautiful and despite the numerous stairs, charming. But it’s the people who make Royal Plantation truly exceptional. Much love to Omar Robinson, the General Manager, and Marvin Boyd, Head of Operations. We’ve known them both for a few years now, and watching how they lead with such genuine warmth and professionalism sets the tone for the entire resort. Their presence is felt in every detail and every interaction. No job is too small. The staff here is simply outstanding! Lashaun, Roshane, Damian, and everyone at the front desk always welcome us like family. Mahesh and Sequioa from the Insiders Club have known us forever, and they continue to make each visit feel personal and special. We'll never forget being Sequioa's first sale. :) Our butlers this time were Johovan Gaynor and Andre Coombs. We've been lucky to have them before and they are phenomena! They know us so well at this point that everything feels effortless. Their care, attention, and ability to anticipate our needs make every day smooth and relaxing. Down at the beach, Daniello, Trevardo, and Romaine kept us comfortable and laughing, always making sure we had drinks. We also want to give a very special shout out to Chef Martin, Chef Vinroy, and the entire culinary team. They catered to our (let's be real, my) every off‑menu whim for breakfast and lunch. I certainly got my fill of Jamaican food! And of course we cannot forget Marilyn, our wonderful housekeeper. She and others ensured our room was spotless and welcoming throughout our stay. Her pride in her work truly shows. The little notes she left us were very sweet and came home with us. To anyone we may have missed, please know we appreciate you just as much. The entire team at Royal Plantation is extraordinary, and they’re the reason we keep returning. Royal Plantation will always be our happy place. We're already counting the days until we return.
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Sandals Royal Plantation this past June in celebration of my birthday. We spent 7 days and 6 nights at this all inclusive butler service resort. We stayed in "the Monarch" room on the 3rd level with an ocean view (which is true for all of the rooms!). We had an absolutely marvelous time and booked our next trip ro the same resort before leaving (it is wise to do this as Sandals offers a good discount as an incentive). It is easy to change the dates of your stay so it's advantageous to commit. The resort is clean, beautifully decorated, and restorative. The beach sand is smooth and clean and the water is clear and vibrant in color. There are plenty of beach chairs of various types. Guests do head out early to claim their favorite chairs but we were able to try out all of the options during our stay without setting an alarm. Be sure to try out the ocean hammocks and float rings. Food and beverages are available all day and into the night. Guests can request specific foods and drinks from their butler, including food from the neighboring Sandals resorts. There are also beach butlers available most of the day. Guests can request room service, eat on the beach or by the pool, or take a shuttle bus to dine at Sandals Ochi or Dunn's River. We only dined at SRP. Next time we will try out some of the other restaurants at the neighboring resorts just for variety. Fun fact: Guests of Sandals Royal Plantation are permitted to dine and spend time at any of the Sandals locations while Sandals Royal Plantation is reserved solely for its guests. It is the most exclusive of all the Sandals resorts. We selected a number of off-site excursions during the booking process. We enjoyed all of them, especially the river rafting trip along Dunn's River. It is a relaxing experience. No hiking required. Local crafts were available for purchase at the end. It's a good idea to bring some US dollars (1s, 5s, and 10s). We came upon local artisans a number of times, both on site and at the other resort locations. It is hard to say what we liked best about our experience at Sandals Royal Plantation because it was really wonderful from beginning to end. The universal positive vibe is certainly at the top of the list. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. Everyone. We were impressed by the all inclusive offerings (after dinner entertainment: Nataki and Alex were awesome!), snorkeling, and so on. The performers were all fabulous. We could have spent our entire vacation on site at SRP and been totally satisfied. You can sign up for excursions once you settle in. We would recommend that (but be sure to reserve a spot on a river raft trip). Helpful tips: Sign up for Club Mobay! You will be escorted through the airport, cruise through customs, and have a comfy lounge with food and beverages to enjoy while you wait. We were especially impressed with the "departure" lounge. We enjoyed some authentic Jamaican cuisine before boarding our plane to go home. Pack lightly (I literally wore a bathing suit, a pair of shorts and a sundress). Laundry service is available. Keep in mind that your butlers can and will do many things for you. They will even get food from other resorts, or arrange for specific foods to be prepared for you. We did not ask for our clothing to be ironed upon our arrival but I am certain we could have. Be prepared to be paid attention to. Our butlers learned about our preferences very quickly and provided us with a very personal experience. Don't wait until your last night to book your next trip. We missed a window seat at our last sunset dinner because we were handling these arrangements. Spend time at the Wobbly Peacock. Wander the entire resort. We came upon an artisan one day and purchased several beautiful, hand carved bowls and statues at a very reasonable price. You can pay with USD. No need to exchange for Jamaican dollars (but be sure to check the exchange rate!) Get to know the people there. We truly enjoyed talking with each of the managers on duty during our stay (Omar and Melvin) and had delightful conversations with guests who we saw almost daily by the pool or on the beach. If you drink alcohol be sure to eat well and be mindful. Sandals employees go out of their way to see that your cup is never empty for long. Eat breakfast on the terrace at least once. It is a wonderful buffet worth waking up for. Arrange for a private candlelight dinner by the ocean at sunset. Go on the glass bottom boat tour at SRP! No need to pay for an off-site excursion. The glass bottom boat tour includes snorkeling and was one of the highlights of our vacation. Fabian and Jevhoune were a riot! Go to the spa (even if only for a pedicure with Diana). You will feel really good about your investment in booking your trip. SANDALS dedicates a significant percentage of each reservation directly in their staff's education, training, and well being. If you have any questions or concerns before your trip just call 1-800-SANDALS. The Jamaican Sandals reps are helpful and a delight to talk to. Enjoy your trip!
What can I say …AMAZING STAFF, MANAGEMENT, FACILITIES, FOOD..and the story continues… We were supposed to be going to Abu Dhabi and so when the worst happened . Our wonderful travel agent worked her magic and pulled this resort out of her hat… Wasn’t sure what to expect but ..blimey..the whole package is magical.. no concerns or worries at all. If there had been , the team there are super quick to resolve … if you like a smaller, less busy resort- this is the one..you can do what you want to when you want to. The only 2 downsides for us which is nothing to do with the hotel at all but to be aware of… the transfer time from the airport is between 90 to 120 minutes.. long and tedious.. Also if you fly out with Virgin Atlantic- the flight times are not the best at all from London. Landing at 9pm and the transfer to hotel- you don’t get into your room much before midnight 😳 returning to Uk- you dont fly till 11pm meaning landing at 3pm the following day. The best bits are the staff, Omar as GM and his team, our butlers Adrian and Ricky- thank you and not to be forgotten- all the restaurant staff..together you all made our holiday extra special Thank you ..Mandy and Bryan
We had been told to expect the warmest welcome and the highest standards of service but SRP exceeded every expectation. A place where you get the best that Sandals have to offer but are made to feel so at home that every member of staff knows your name. No wonder people return year after year. The standards are set from the very top, with Omar and Marvin making you feel like family, but if I was to list everyone who made our holiday memorable this review would be the size of a novel. We thought we would struggle with having a Butler, but these guys are exceptional and quickly get to understand how they can make your stay memorable. Rooms great; Location beautiful; Drinks crafted and bespoke; Diving and watersports spot-on; Excursions were appealing; And even a visit to the shop was a hoot because of Lorna. Although there were only 3 restaurants, you could access the many offers at Sandals Ochi next door, and Sandals Dunns River 10 minutes ride away. At first my wife, who is vegetarian, struggled with the meal choices because she's not a fan of meat substitutes, but, in typical SRP standard and after just one aside comment, an alternative vegetarian menu was quickly put together that all could access and the outstanding Butlers Robert and Anthony went out of their way to make sure she too was able to enjoy the exceptional dining experience that everyone else was enjoying. Robert and Anthony were outstanding and made the logistics of getting to and from Ochi where we went diving daily, a complete non-issue. Great guys! The maid service was top class (thank you Nareisha for those notes). The pub was fun and a hub for the World Cup that was taking place, and the beach waiters worked tirelessly and brought their good humour with them. The Royal Grill, set as it was on the beach, was our personal favorite but all restaurants are of the highest order. Chevanese and Shandee always made our visit to the Royal Grill memorable and fun...although Nicola in the French restaurant gave them both a run for their money! It feels wrong to single out individuals when the whole team were so outstanding but I have to highlight the brilliant bartenders Simone who packs a mean Dacquari, and JLee and Romaine who mastered my bespoke cocktail in minutes. Likewise Vanya and Andre always brought a smile to our faces when we visited the Terrace. We made great friends, we made great memories and we will be back
We just returned home to Katy, Texas, and are already missing our favorite piece of paradise. We just wrapped up another incredible stay at Sandals Royal Plantation (SRP), and it truly is such a special place to us. As we always say, SRP just gets better and better every single day because of the deep, personal connections you make with the outstanding team. Having traveled extensively with the brand—including stays at Sandals Antigua, Royal Bahamian, Montego Bay, Royal Caribbean, Emerald Bay, and both the Sandals and Beaches properties in Negril—we can confidently say this is easily the best guest experience we have ever had. The Accommodations (Viceroy Suite, East Building): For this stay, we were in a Viceroy room in the East building, and it was absolutely perfect. It offered a spectacular view of the East beach. While we actually spent most of our daytime hours lounging on the West beach, we really fell in love with the East building rooms. Because every single room at this boutique resort is oceanfront, has butler service, and sits close to all amenities, you can't go wrong—but the East building felt exceptionally convenient and centrally located. The Beach & Resort Vibe: The resort offers a wonderfully intimate and private feel. The beach itself is on the smaller side, but it is absolutely gorgeous, pristine, and peaceful. Dining & The Regional Exchange Perk: While there are only three restaurants directly on-property, the culinary execution is top-tier. They do an outstanding job of regularly mixing up the menu at The Terrace so you always have excellent variety. Furthermore, a massive perk of staying here is the exchange program, giving you the seamless option to head over to Sandals Dunn's River or Sandals Ochi for dinner. That said, the vibe here is so special that you rarely ever want to leave the property! Leadership & Staff: The entire staff at this resort is outstanding, and it clearly starts at the top. If you spend just five minutes talking to the General Manager, Omar Robinson, or the Director of Operations, Marvin Boyd, you immediately realize that this world-class culture is driven by having two absolute gentlemen leading the team. I wanted to formally recognize and show some major love to the people who made our week unforgettable: The Terrace Breakfast Crew: You know the service is great when you can easily have breakfast delivered to your room by your butlers, but you choose to walk to the restaurant anyway! Huge shout-out to Sherika, Vanya, Stephnie, Andre, and Romaine for starting our mornings with so much joy. The Beach & Entertainment Dream Team: We spend 8 to 9 hours a day in the sand, so this crew means everything to us. The Beach butlers Daniello, Travardo, and Romaine made sure we never wanted for a single thing. Meanwhile, Alex and Brandon did an unbelievable job keeping everyone entertained. We definitely took up way too much of their time, but they were so incredibly gracious to spend it with us. Simone at the Beach Bar: Simone is an absolute star! It’s actually a running joke how hard it is to physically walk to the beach bar because if you take even two steps, either our room butlers Marvin and Bebeato, or the beach butlers Daniello, Travardo, or Romaine will swoop in to get a drink for you. But when we managed to sneak past them, visiting Simone was always worth it. She is so friendly, and we appreciate her endless patience with all our frozen drink requests. The Bar & Pub Crews: Shout-out to JLee for holding it down so well across all the bars, and to Garnet, Romaine, and Junior for making every single trip to the Pub an absolute blast. Our Phenomenal Butlers: We read a ton of reviews on the Facebook pages before coming, so our expectations for Marvin and Bebeato were sky-high. Well, they didn’t just meet them—they absolutely shattered them. Their attention to detail was completely unmatched. The SRP Brotherhood: What makes this resort so magical is that the entire staff treats you like family. We’ve never even had Biggs or Anthony assigned as our personal butlers, yet they stopped to check on us and give us a fist bump every single time they saw us. Loyalty & Future Planning: A big thank you to Horatio and Sequoia for going above and beyond to help us map out our upcoming trips and sorting out our free week information. We love talking all things Sandals with you guys! Thank you to management and the entire staff for having us at your wonderful resort. The hospitality here is entirely unmatched, and we already cannot wait to return "home" to SRP!
Absolutely perfect holiday — we can’t wait to come back! "We had the most incredible stay at Sandals Royal Plantation and it exceeded every single expectation we had. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding — every staff member greeted us with a warm smile, remembered our names, and went above and beyond to make us feel so special. The resort itself is stunning: beautifully kept grounds, breathtaking ocean views, and such a relaxed, elegant atmosphere. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the private balcony made our mornings so magical. The food was fantastic — so much variety, high quality, and we loved the themed evenings. The butler service was such a lovely touch too, nothing was too much trouble for them. It was the ideal romantic getaway for us. If you’re thinking of booking, don’t hesitate — this place is pure paradise. We’re already planning our return trip!" You will need to book early as it's always busy with returning quest. We booked with our Agent check her out Company name RedRoute Travel she's on Facebook etc highly recommend Big shout out to GM Omar !!
Having a great experience here in Sandals Royal Plantation. Great experience once you get into Sandals care lounge in Montego Bay Airport they take care of you. We had a personal escort from the airport to resort which was 90 minutes but we laughed the whole time with our escort David Robinson. Very humble and great spirited man who showed us along the way the various things to do while here in Jamaica and the resort also didnt disappoint. I can see why they have so many return vacationers, the butler service is personalized with Omar Robinson who will know your name by the first date of arrival. We are half way thru with my birthday vacation and such a great experience.
From the greeting on arrival by the Manager and staff and throughout our stay to the time of our departure, we felt very much at home. We were particularly impressed with the staff who remembered our names and room number right from the start which made it a very personal service. The individual touches which the butlers provided especially on our wedding anniversary was very much appreciated together with the service in the restaurants, particularly Sherika and Vanya at the terrace restaurant who need a special mention, it was all outstanding. The suite was large and comfortable and very well proportioned with all amenities and with excellent storage. A quiet relaxing environment with a good shuttle service to Ochi and especially the golf course. The water sports personnel were professional and very helpful as well as being highly entertaining. The live evening entertainment was of a high standard and very enjoyable. The food and beverages were of a high-quality and a good variety. The additional activities such as aqua and yoga were good when they ran. The beach waiters came along at regular intervals throughout the day and were very attentive. Overall a superb holiday and we can’t wait to return. With the ever present general manager Omar turning his hand to anything and making sure we and every other guest was being well looked after a big well done and thank you to all.
The highlight of Royal Plantation is you are made to feel so welcome from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Every member of staff we met were so sincerely friendly and made you feel at home. Here are examples of the excellent service you can expect: On our first day at breakfast in the Terrace restaurant we asked Vanya if there was any fresh ginger to make a fresh orange and ginger drink. Vanya said she’d go and check, then soon came back and said she’d got someone to open the storeroom so she could make us our drink. It was delicious and all done with a smile and her lovely sense of humour. David, who makes delicious omelettes at breakfast in the Terrace restaurant calling me by my name as I approached him – I’d only met him once before. David’s happiness is infectious. Robert, one our room Butlers arranged for our room to be decorated with the blinds shut and lights off, with red tealights and hearts sprinkled on the bed along with the words “Happy Wife, Happy Life”. Robert had also watched to see when we were getting ready to leave the beach and had run a hot bubble bath decorated with flowers ready for when we got back to the room, without either of us mentioning we’d even like that – amazing. Our other room Butler Anthony is so perceptive and sincere; we loved him from the minute we met him and missed him from the minute we left. Anthony should be the mentor to all new Butlers as he has so much he can pass on to make every guest’s stay a perfect holiday. Danielo, one of the beach Butlers - when he forgot my Wife’s drink he immediately said ‘my bad’ and rushed off all the way back from the East beach to the Royal Cafe & Grill bar to get it and came back very quickly, whilst checking what other guests wanted to drink on the way. All done with a smile. At the end of the day Danielo came over to us at the far end of the East beach, simply to wish us a good evening and said he’d see us the following day. No wonder Danielo wears two name badges – he’s so good they had to name him twice. He’s a real professional and his smile is infectious. Trevado, one of the other beach butlers came and found us hidden away in the shade under the trees at the far end of the East beach, and because my Wife was asleep he tiptoed over to me and whispered did I wanted anything so he wouldn’t wake her- what a star. Romaine who serves in both the Terrace restaurant and the Royal Café & Grill is so observant and has a great personality. I asked Romaine for a Jamaican Patti, which wasn’t on the menu, which Romaine arranged. It was delicious. Simone at the Royal Café & Grill beach bar won our hearts with her infectious Jamaican charm. Chadwayne who takes such pride in keeping the beaches clean, raking the beach meticulously throughout the day from 6am to 5pm. Omar, the general manager, who leads by example setting a high standard of sincere customer service and greets every guest by the first name. Omar also led the singing with a farewell song when we left. Here’s some observations about the hotel: • Hotel & grounds - constantly being kept tidy to maintain the original 1950s Plantation Inn feel • Beach - West beach has more sunbeds and umbrellas and is closer to the Royal Cafe & Grill. East beach needs more unbrellas, but is a lot quieter and you can swim/walk out in to the sea further than the West beach. East beach also has a lovely secluded and shaded cove at the far end. Sunbeds on both beaches are not the most comfortable, so I recommend taking an air mattress to put on the sunbeds under your beach towels. Beaches are constantly kept clean and Chadwayne does a brilliant job. • Sea - crystal clear, calm and warm (20 to 28 May) • Pool - small with two separate jacuzzies which are hot. • Room - Royal Monarch second floor West wing (room 258) - best views we’ve ever had. Large bedroom area, very comfortable bed and pillows. Air conditioning and ceiling fans worked really well. Separate seating area with mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities is very spacious and lovely to sit in with the French patio doors open listening to the waves (with the air-con off). Loads of drawer space. Very few power outlets so recommend you bring an extension lead (6 feet). Bathroom area is dated but jacuzzi bath and separate shower worked well. No issue with mosquitoes throughout our holiday. • Room cleaning - room and bathroom were kept spotless by housekeeping • Terrace Restaurant - serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is à la carte or buffet, with a varied choice and all very tasty. Buffet temperatures are monitored to ensure food is kept hot. David at the omelette station makes great omelettes and has a great sense of humour. Romaine who serves at breakfast is excellent as are Vanya and Sherika. • Royal Cafe & Grill - serves lunch and dinner. Ask your room Butler for off menu dishes to be delivered to Royal Cafe & Grill. Romaine also serves here and could easily develop into an excellent Butler. Simone at the bar won our hearts with her infectious Jamaican charm. • Papillon Restaurant - serves dinner (every night we were there). Excellent menu and you can ask for off menu items (we had Beef Wellington, which was excellent). Great service. Dress code is long trousers, collared shirts and shoes for men - it’s special, so get dressed up. • Butlers- Anthony and Robert. Anthony is so perceptive and sincere; we loved him from the minute we met him and missed him from the minute we left. Anthony should be the mentor to all new Butlers as he has so much he can pass on to make every guest’s stay a perfect holiday. Robert ‘Easy Peasy’ has a great personality and sense of humour. Both Anthony and Robert took care of our every need and needs we didn’t even know we wanted, such as when we were getting ready to leave the beach running a hot bubble baths ready for our return. Ask them for off menu items and they will sort it. • Beach Butlers - there are three, Danielo who will make an excellent Butler and has a great personality and really looks after you; Trevado who works so hard to ensure all the guests on his shift are never without a drink or a smile; and Romane. • Wobbly Peacock - Garnett & Junior make great cocktails – Expresso Martini, Old Fashioneds, Dark & Stormies • Loyalty desk - Horatio - offers great onsite deals (circa 12% discount) • All Royal Plantation staff - come across as sincerely wanting you to have an excellent holiday and are all so friendly • Entertainment - excellent quality of entertainment (singing, modern electric violin, balancing & fire eating) in the evening on the Terrace. Ends by 9am, then follows on in the Wobbly Peacock. • Accessibility - lift in West wing only, lots of steep steps to and from the beaches. Not suitable if you have accessibility issues. • Transfer from Kingston Norman Manley airport - circa 2 hours, takes about an hour to get out of Kingston. • Tipping - policy is that you can only tip Butlers, Beach Butlers and Spa staff. • Room Butlers – how much you tip is personal to you and is per shift based on service provided. Some days you’ll have just the one Butler, other days you’ll have two - one in the morning and one in the afternoon until 8 or 9pm. • Beach Butlers – again how much you tip is personal to you as per shift based on service provided. • Transfers from and to the airport circa $20 and airport luggage porters $1 to $2 per item of luggage. Thank you so much Omar and your team for making sure our holiday will always remain a very, very fond memory,
My wife and I visited Sandals Royal Plantation to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and by the end of the week we understood why so many guests return year after year. The first thing that surprised us was that the resort is actually better than its online photos and reviews suggest. In an age where most destinations overpromise, Royal Plantation underpromises and overdelivers. The property itself is beautiful, intimate, and full of character. While it may not be the newest resort in the Caribbean, we would not change a thing. The attention to detail throughout the property is remarkable. What truly sets Royal Plantation apart, however, is the people. The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely warm. What stood out to me was that the positive atmosphere wasn't just directed toward guests—I observed staff treating one another with the same smiles, kindness, and respect. That kind of culture cannot be faked. During our stay we had wonderful interactions with many team members, including Omar, Neil, Garnet, Romaine, Daniello, Marva, Mr. Jackson, and countless others whose names we unfortunately failed to write down. Every department contributed to making our stay special. One moment perfectly captured the experience for us. We spent some time at Sandals Ochi and planned to stay for the evening. Instead, we found ourselves wanting to return to Royal Plantation. The moment we arrived back, we both felt an immediate sense of calm. Later, Omar summed it up perfectly when he said, "This is home." He was right. The team at Royal Plantation did not simply provide excellent service—they facilitated the good life. For one week, the details were handled, the worries were set aside, and we were free to focus on celebrating twenty years of marriage and enjoying time together. We're a mechanic and a nurse from Wyoming. We never felt judged, measured, or out of place. We felt welcomed, valued, and appreciated. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. In fact, we booked our return visit before we left. If you're looking for the largest resort, Royal Plantation may not be for you. If you're looking for a place with heart, character, and some of the finest hospitality we've ever experienced, look no further. We'll be back.
We recently stayed at Sandals Royal Plantation and unfortunately came away quite disappointed overall. The absolute highlight of this resort is the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was warm, friendly and genuinely outstanding — they truly make the place!!! 🤍 The butler service was also excellent. It was our first time trying it and while it personally wasn’t really for us, the butlers themselves were attentive and professional throughout. The resort itself is very small, which some people may love. The beach is lovely, there are plenty of sunbeds available, and the beds in the rooms were incredibly comfortable and clearly very good quality. However, the bathroom was a huge let-down. The bath especially looked like it hadn’t been updated since the resort was first built, which is not what you expect from a luxury 5-star resort. The food was another major disappointment. Bland, uninspiring and nowhere near the standard we expected. For a resort marketed as 5-star, the dining honestly felt closer to a 3-star experience. We also had two massages at the spa which were fantastic — definitely expensive, but genuinely excellent. One of the biggest issues for us personally was the atmosphere. The resort felt extremely cliquey due to the high number of returning guests. Many guests clearly know each other and are very used to this resort, which created an environment that often felt loud and somewhat obnoxious. To be honest, we struggle to understand some of the overwhelmingly glowing 5-star reviews. It feels like many come from regular guests who are loyal to this particular resort, and had ever explored anywhere else. For comparison, we stayed at the Ritz in Dubai which was actually cheaper than this trip and was on a completely different level in every way. Overall, this resort simply wasn’t for us. If you enjoy a very small, quiet resort and like socialising with other guests, then you may absolutely love it here. But for us, the experience did not match the Sandals reputation or the price tag, and perhaps our expectations were just too high.
It’s been around 2 weeks since we have returned from our wonderful 7 day break at SRP. Overall we had a truly wonderful time thanks to the staff, led by Omar Robinson the GM. The resort (very clean), the room (we were in No 257 on the west side- great views), the beach and the waters (can’t still get over the colour of the water), the food (the drinks, tender coconut, jerk chicken wings and dinner at the French Restaurant Papion) and not to forget the service across the board was what made our experience really good. When I had a nasty fall in Ochi, I was looked after very well by everyone. A big thank you! However, as already shared with Omar, we felt that the resort is more for return customers as opposed to first timers. This was a view shared by a few other hotel guests as well. The butler service has its heart in the right place. Though it does not always deliver and needs further tweaks. Especially ensuring first timers and repeats are both treated in the same way. The entertainment can also do with some energising. Hence the 4 stars and not 5! (Shame Trip advisor disallows a 4.5 rating!) Yo man we will return ❤️
Our holiday has been phenomenal at sandals best by far so personal with all the incredible amazing staff every one is exceptional Every one knows your name Our butlers Adrian and Ricky out standing cannot do enough for you They made our holiday extra special The way we were looked after by every one The amazing beach butlers Were outstanding The way they treated us The list is endless with all the staff I would say it’s a must to visit it’s paradise Hotel Gardens Restaurants Beach We were so sad to leave Thank you for looking after us Lynn Richard Sheridan
My wife & I visited Sandals Royal Plantation (RP) for the first time for 2 weeks in a basic butler suite. We chose RP for 2 reasons 1) Tips included - we have travelled to service included resorts all over the Caribbean and have always felt we receive 2nd best service to our friends from USA who literally tip if you talk to them and wave dollars at the bar to jump the queue which we are not used to and we normally only tip where a person exceeds their job role but here we were sold on that tips are banned and not allowed. (other than to your Butler & Spa staff if you choose to but this is not required) 2) Butler - We have never had a butler and wanted to experience it!! With no tipping we did find and feel that we received the same service level as everyone else there and even though some travellers (even though they knew the service staff could lose their jobs for accepting tips!!) still were tipping but discretely and I can only assume this is to show off their wealth in a demeaning way. We had 2 butlers who were an absolute pleasure and as we hadn't had a butler before we were challenged as to what to use them for and the first few days watched others having them unpack their luggage and deliver their drinks and ice from a bar 20 mtrs away from themselves and they both made suggestions but through no fault of their own we found having a butler was just not for us... This is probably the first resort I have visited where I truly felt the staff wanted to be there and it was a family feel rather than they are just doing their job. The resort is a classic look and some would say in need of reinnervation but I think this would ruin the feel of the resort as everything is well maintained and in good order as well as being very clean. There are a lot of stairs as the resort is on several levels with no lifts but this was not an issue for us. All the food we ate in the 5 restaurants was to a good level with a range of menu. Breakfast is available as a la carte or buffet in the Terrace restaurant in the morning, we normally had buffet and helped ourselves. Our favourite was the French restaurant upstairs. We found the resort with only 74 rooms to be very quiet with very few activities and we were able to relax for the first few days but we did get bored quite quickly but as we had access to the neighbouring resort Ochi we loved that there was a little more action going on there with some music and activities around the pool but we always loved going back to RP that was really like home. We visited several restaurants at Ochi and found all the food to be good (especially the jerk seafood pizza for lunch fresh from the oven) though the service level was noticeably lower, We also visited Dunns River resort on 3 evenings for Dinner and also got a taxi there for a full day. We did get out and around with a visit to the local craft market and shops near the port (Taxis are plenty just outside the resort gates we paid $15 and the driver stayed with us for nearly 2 hrs before driving us back (Vs taxi from tour desk $45) ) There is a shuttle that runs to all 3 sides of Ochi at various times during the day (every +/- 1 hr 1/2) but if you don't want to wait it is only a short 10 min walk from RP reception to Ochi Riviera reception and there is a shuttle that runs around the 3 stops at Ochi every 10 mins. There is a high percentage of repeat visitors to RP and we found some to be quite clicky to outsiders and at times irritating especially during the evening entertainment when in the pub with entertainers trying hard to be heard over the rudeness of visitors who thought their conversations were more important. We did have a few minor issues and these were dealt with very quickly and you will very quickly get to know the general and operations managers who will know you by name by day 2. So in summary this is an amazing place with top level service and we had a brilliant 2 weeks here though as it is all butler and this wasn't for us we probably won't return to RP, but I am sure we will return to Sandals.
We have visited SRP over a half dozen times since August 2021 and have never been disappointed. The resort is chic boutique, making every moment special. We have requested the same two butlers for all of our trips. We absolutely love Andre and Johvon, we have had others, but here are our absolute favorites. The resort is not only wonderful, the guests become family, with one love as the motto. Rooms have been upgraded, many new amenities, new bathrooms, expanded restaurant balconies. The beach butlers are fabulous, they know the guest, they know what everyone likes and or wants. The resort took over a new manger in 2022, Omar and Marvin, they work Miracles, they make everything happen. There is no better team than Omar and Marvin. I have had issues disconnecting from work, Omar, Marvin, Andres, Johvahn, and ALL of the staff have made my disconnection a reality. During our last visit the Omelet chef looked at me and without batting an eye knew what I wanted before I asked. The small touches of the staff make this place unforgettable, they make SRP a home away from home. The resort is very small but everyone on the staff gives you the most tremendous experience. We have booked for April 2027 and are also looking at August 2026 for a full adult vacation. The leadership of Omar and Marvin have transformed this resort into something almost indescribable. The obsolute best vacation location we have ever experienced.
Royal Plantation has become our home away from home. The service and attention you receive is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Romane, Simon, Collin, Trevardo and Daniello take amazing care of us and are quite honestly, the reason we love SRP so much. They work nonstop ensuring everyone on the beach is taken care of. Romane even helped my husband with a surprise on our anniversary- always going above and beyond. All of these employees deserve recognition as they take care of every guest at the resort at the pool and beach. I’ve been to other resorts, multiple other Sandals and the service I get here is top notch. It’s the sweetest, most relaxing place to visit.
We were back in Sandals Royal Plantation once again and can say with 100% confidence it reminded us of why we make this our 5 th trip. Coming here truly feels like coming home to family. We feel completely cared for here, the service is unmatched and you simply can not compare to anywhere else. From the very beginning Omar and Marvin (the GMs) make you feel like family from the moment you walk in. We were greeted by name, they are consistently found wondering around the resort ensuring each guest is pleased and happy, it is these small things that makes such a big difference and why you want to visit again and again. We need to send a very special, heartfelt thank you to our butler Anthony. He was outstanding in every way possible! Over many visits to Sandals (and many, many butlers) we have always said he is hands down the BEST butler we have ever had. The level of care, personal attention, professionalism and warmth he demonstrated daily was incredible. Everything was always done BEFORE we even had a thought and truly made our vacation completely stress-free. Anthony never missed a beat but the best part is that he appeared to be so genuinely happy to serve us in every possible way. He was consistently checking in on us, tending to needs before we were aware, adding special personal touches to our room. We felt like valued and special members of his own family the whole week. Thank you Anthony for making us feel so wonderfully spoiled from start to finish!! Our second butler Robert was also stellar and the two of them made a wonderful team "Easy Peasy!" became the theme of the week. These two worked so hard to make our stay amazing, attentive but in such a naturally relaxed way. We felt so well taken care of! The beach butlers (Romaine, Daniello & Trevado) were fantastic and unique to this resort. They always kept our glasses full and provided smiles on our faces all day. We enjoy talking to them and seeing them daily. Romane was our server for breakfast and lunch every day, he made such warm pleasant conversation each morning and truly seemed to care about making our meals special. The two women who seat you at breakfast were fabulous aa well. By day 2 they already remembered us, knew we ordered Mimosas (and had them ready at our table), knew our names and knew our room number. Attention to these small details are why guests feel like family. And of course last but certainly not least, Horatio in Loyalty, he was top notch!!! So efficient and always making sure to stop by and greet us any time he seen us. He alone helped us rebook our next Sandals vacation with ease and knowledge of all of the resorts. We find the food at this resort to be the best. Some of the resorts we have been to we found the meals to be mediocre at best. Here, you’re always guaranteed a great meal. All of the chefs came out to greet us during dinner and made sure we were satisfied. Papillon is by far our favorite restaurant there and maybe even our favorite of all sandals we have visited. Sandals Royal Plantation continues to deliver above and beyond our expectations. A beautiful property to go with impeccable service from amazing staff who make you feel like part of the family we cannot wait to come home for trip # 6! ( booked through Horatio!)
We had a fabulous anniversary trip at Sandals Royal Plantation. The service was top notch and everyone truly makes you feel welcome and at home. This was our second Sandals stay but first visit at this resort and definitely not our last. All of the employees were so hospitable. By the end of our 5 nights we knew most of their names and they knew ours. The resort manager, Omar took the time to get to know all of the visitors and greeted us by name every day. We enjoyed conversation with Simone at the beach bar and appreciated her kindness! You can tell she truly cares about her job and her customers. Marvin and Bebeato went above and beyond making sure we were comfortable and cared for. The resort was beautiful, the food was excellent, the room was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed some rest and relaxation. We hope to be back soon!
This is our 5th time to stay at SRP, years ago then in 2024. We decided this is one of our favorites on our last visit & this one days ago. The resort is beautiful & charming, the food is great, rooms are well appointed, the old school Caribbean Sandals look that the reg guests here & us prefer along with an insanely comfortable new mattress, but the service is the star. If you are a beach person, the beach butlers Trevardo, Ramene & Daniello wait on you hand & foot at your chairs & the pool! Garnet is a superstar bartender at their super nice lounge, but also came out to the pool to offer us drinks as well as the super star guest friend GM Omar. Can't say enough good things about Omar & Marvin the Operations Manager. If there is 30 couples or more in a room Omar knows all their names. It amazing to see this. Management & staff truly make you feel like a valued guest. We also love this property due to NO loud music anywhere on property. The head of entertainment Brandon is all you need. He's a great singer & entertainer but hilarious at calling Bingo. Don't miss it. Other super stars every morning at breakfast Stephanie, Andre 2000 ( also friendly & fun ) & Lorenzo who made me the perfect medium rare steak. Best one in over 300 visits to Sandals. Also good luck to Trainee Roheim. I hope to see him next visit. He was doing his best to keep busy & learn. Last but not least our butler team Ricky & Adrian. They were the dream team for us. Super friendly, fun & attentive. Made our trip 3X better as they do everything for you so you can just relax. The butlers spoil you so much it's like God forbid I pick up the phone to change a spa appoint. Thank you for your hospitality to all at Royal Plantation & hope to see you again next year. Charlotte & Eric
Wonderful experience. Marvin and Bebeato were excellent butlers. The staff was truly a step above any other resort I’ve been to.
Towards the end of last year following Melissa we didn’t think this holiday would’ve been possible but all testament to the Jamaican community how wrong we were. This was our second visit here and a return to our newly found happy place and it was so good to be welcomed home and to be recognised as returning guests by many members of staff. Omar and his entire team run a first class hotel and nothing is ever a problem. We had 3 butlers across our stay due to some annual leave. Neil and Chase again looked after us along with Carlos at the beginning of the stay. We didn’t ask for too much however the things we wanted we always catered for. There are so many people we could thank who made our stay so special. It’s so nice to see staff go out of their way to make your holiday special. Few to mention include Vanga , Sheree and Stephanie from The Terrace Restaurant who provided exemplary service across breakfast and lunch. Chevron from the French restaurant. Sequoia from loyalty who always stopped for a chat. Our room was situated on the first floor overlooking the beach with great sun rise views . It was cleaned daily and turn down service offered each evening. Entertainment is minimal but appropriate for the style of hotel and suited us being early risers to make the most of the daily sunshine.Food selection is impeccable with several option’s available across the resort for both lunch and dinners with varied menus available. We are already booked for next year!
We are regular sandals visitors but this was our first visit to royal plantation and it definitely will not be our last. From the moment you arrive you are made to fill special everything was top class, the staff from top to bottom are wonderful. A small hotel but lovely so perfect to relax,we can only imagine that this attention to detail and service was like it used to be in all Sandals resorts so thank you all very much for a wonderful break and we are coming back sooner than you think.
This is our 5th trip to Sandals Ochi and I keep coming back because of the Tennis Pro Chris Iceburg. Chris has taken my tennis game to much much higher levels. We have already booked two more trips for 2027 and Chris is the reason for me. Of course my wife likes the massages, the restaurants, after tennis breakfast on the balcony looking at the ocean and the beach.
This is the best place for an intimate vacation experience. Garnett is the greatest bar tender. Only magic is created in his bar. And he sings too!!! The BEST!
Great place for relaxing. The staff and butlers are amazing. My favorite bartender, Simone, at the beach bar and grill is the best!! She sees everything and everyone. Your glass never goes empty ♥️♥️♥️
This last minute getaway was the best decision and I can’t wait to go back! The hotel property is beautiful with breath taking views of the ocean. We were greeted by the sweetest island breeze as soon as we entered the lobby and that sweet feeling was replicated throughout our stay by the kindest most attentive staff (a sign of great leadership evident in general manager, Omar)!! Our butler, Delgardo was exceptional and went out of his way to make us feel most welcome with his friendly banter, jovial spirit and commitment to executing every detail with the utmost care (in room birthday decor, coconut drops, sour sop juice, breakfast of escovich fish and the best most romantic dinner I’ve ever had)! He thought of everything and helped me realize birthday dreams I hadn’t even thought of (smile)!! Thank you, Delgardo! The food was incredible and I was struck that every staff member seemed to know my name (probably because they were conspiring to pull off the best birthday surprises!! lol) Thanks to Brandon for teaching me how to tie die a t shirt and do all the reggae dances! I am approaching pro level thanks to him!! Thank you to the wonderful staff! Taneisha and Nick
This review is long and very detailed and written for and by first time guests at this resort. I included the things I would want to know, so please forgive all of the details. This was our first time at a Sandals resort, we had been to another all inclusive in Jamaica and had a wonderful time. We choose the Royal Plantation because it was advertised as small and very quiet. When we arrived at the airport there is a dedicated Sandals lounge area where you are welcomed, offered refreshments and you can wait while they arrange for your transportation to the resort. We had a private car, but I am not sure if that is because of the resort or because we were the only ones arriving at that time. We flew into Montego Bay and the resort was about 90 minutes away with moderate traffic. When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by the staff who sang a welcome song and took our luggage. We were offered a comfortable place to sit and refreshments. We completed check in and the manager escorted us to our room because our assigned butler was escorting guests to the neighboring resort for dinner. The room was beautiful, spacious and very very clean. There was a sunken living room area with an ocean view, a couch, small table and a bar and coffee set up. Before you go to the resort there is a questionnaire that you fill out to identify your preferences for the bar including alcohol, juices, sodas and bottled water. This is all included and the bar is restocked each day. The coffee is Blue mountain and the coffee maker is a small 2 cup pot. There is also a tea kettle and a selection of teas. Our ice bucket was filled for us and was always full. There are real cups not paper. They provide robes and slippers and the room has a fantastic air conditioner and ceiling fan with remotes. There is a French balcony, but if you do not turn off the AC when you open it the room can get condensation and the floors which are all tile can get slippery. I would suggest using the slippers or bringing your own if you prefer. The bed is very comfortable with plenty of pillows, you can choose pillow types in the questionnaire before you arrive. There is a large closet and plenty of space in the dresser and end tables. I have a cpap machine and they supplied distilled water. The bathroom is large with a double sink and a separate area for the tub and toilet. The mirrors light up and there is also a makeup mirror. There are plenty of soft towels. The products are from the spa and are good quality and are refreshed as needed. The shower had good water pressure and easy to use temperature control. The bath tub is large enough for 2 people to soak. There were enough hangers and space in the closet, there was an ironing board and iron as well. There room is cleaned each day and turned down and refreshed in the early evening. There is a television, but we did not turn it on so I am not sure about channels. There is a desk in the room as well. As we were settling in, our Butler arrived. At this resort each room has a team of butlers. Ours were Neil and Chase. We have never had butler service before and did not really know what to expect. Neil was very friendly and gave us an overview of all of the room's features. He showed us the cell phone that we would use to communicate with him and Chase. You take the phone with you where ever you go. He explained that the texting could be delayed and encouraged us to call at any time for any reason. He explained that he could help us unpack, but we declined. He also explained that he would arrange all of our dinner reservations and excursions if we wanted them. He would also arrange dinner reservations or a visit to the Ocho Rios and Dunn's river sandals resorts if we wanted to go there. Many guests took the shuttle to the other resorts, we did not because we were very happy to stay at Royal Plantation. Neil then escorted us to dinner at the Terrace restaurant. Each morning Neil or Chase would find us and check in on our plans for the day and where we planned to have dinner. They made sure that everything was perfect in our room and that we had everything we needed. At first we were a bit intimidated by having butler service, but they were both so natural and friendly without being obtrusive. Each afternoon they left snacks in our room from cheese plates, to fruit to pastries. On our first evening they had a bath drawn with flowers around the tub, and the water was still hot when we returned! On my Birthday they decorated the room and had a birthday cake waiting for us! The resort is beautiful and very quiet. There is a very small pool and two hot tubs and two separate private beaches. The pool and hot tubs are open 24 hours a day. The pool chairs filled up very quickly in the morning. The west beach is right next to the Grill beach bar and restaurant. The east beach has the water sports area and allows smoking. We had no problem finding beach chairs each day. Towels are provided at the pool area and on each beach. The resort really caters to couples so the beach chairs are set up in pairs. There are beautiful gardens throughout the resort and you can take a garden tour each morning. The beach is very clean with calm water due to a reef protecting the area. We brought water shoes but did not need them in the soft sand. There are kayaks, double kayaks, paddle boards and hobie cats available each day and they are included. Ian took a hobie cat sailing lesson from Joyvan and was very impressed by his skill and said that he was a wonderful teacher. The lesson's are included as well, you just sign up at the water sports area. There is a glass bottom boat tour and snorkeling tour each morning and your butler can sign you up, both are included. You can also request snorkeling gear and snorkel on your own as well. They also have floaties available as well. There is very little seaweed and no rocks in the water. There are beach butlers who bring you drinks throughout the day. The beach service is excellent! Each time we finished a drink a beach butler appeared. We also saw several people getting food delivered to them on the beach. There is a self serve coffee station with coffee's teas and cookies right near the lobby. there is also a soft serve ice cream machine in the Terrace near the Wobbley Peacock pub. We had breakfast each morning at the terrace restaurant. They have a nice buffet as well as a full breakfast menu. On Thursday nights the terrace has Italian night and Friday night was Jamaican night. Both of these nights were wonderful. The terrace is also where they have nightly entertainment, mostly singers. On one night they had a fire show. The entertainment was generally short, sedate and good quality, but not elaborate like we have seen on cruise ships or other resorts. If you really enjoy nightlife, I would suggest taking the shuttle to the other resorts for the evening. For lunch, each day we went to the Grill beach bar. The Terrace also serves lunch. The lunch was good, mostly sandwiches, salads, wraps and burgers. They have daily specials and the quesadilla was particularly good as was the shrimp BLT. They are very careful about allergies at every restaurant which was great! For dinner there are several choices. The Terrace for steaks and grilled options, the Grill offers seafood choices in the evening and the French restaurant offers French specialties. There is also pub fare at the Wobbley peacock. All the food was good, and for us there was enough variety. The service was fantastic in each restaurant, we had Garfield and Andre who were standouts. The general pace of this resort is slower than others with a focus on quality so expect each meal to take some time. There were never crowds and we never had to wait for a table. There are room service options 24 hours a day and room service is included. People generally wore beachwear with cover ups during the day and sundresses and shorts with Hawaiian shirts in the evening. The French restaurant was more formal, nicer dresses and slacks with short sleeve button ups. I saw a few cocktail dresses but no gowns or jackets. However, I don't think you would feel out of place if you chose to dress more formally at night. There is a spa, and the spa staff will come by once each day to ask if you would like services. They are very friendly and there is no pressure. We did not use the spa. There is a small gift shop and no vendors on the resort or beach. They will come by each day and offer popsicles made with fresh fruit. Some have alcohol, some do not. They are delicious and included. If you like to shop, I would recommend taking a shopping excursion. There is an excursion desk in the lobby. The excursions from the lobby are not included. The resort is beautiful with all ocean view rooms and has 3 floors. There are stone stairs to the beach and some to the pool. I did not see any elevators at this resort. I saw only 2 guests with wheel chairs and I would recommend asking about any mobility concerns before booking. We are both fairly active and the stairs could be a lot for us by the end of the day. There are 2 covered smoking areas and smoking is allowed on the east beach. We did not smell any pot smoke at this resort, but that could have been due to the constant light breeze. Several guests mentioned an excursion to a marijuana farm, and said they enjoyed it. The drinks are strong but we did not encounter any guests who were obviously very intoxicated. In general, the guests were middle age and older couples, with a few younger folks. In general they were quiet, interesting, friendly and polite. Most people we spoke with had been to this resort before and have loved it! Unlike other resorts we have been to, Sandals has a no tipping policy. It was explained to us that only the butlers and beach butlers are exempt from this policy and that tips are part of their compensation. The tips recommended online are $20-$50 per day for Butlers depending on what you request. We also tipped for each drink from the beach butlers. There was no tipping in restaurants or bars. Check out was easy and they arranged transportation to the airport which is included. We had a private car and got an interesting tour of the island. In our past experience we found the Montego Bay airport a bit chaotic and this time we got the Club Mobay lounge. For $35 per person it was well worth it! They had a quiet place to wait with drinks and a nice snack buffet. Overall, this was one of the best resorts we have ever visited. If you enjoy a resort that is beautiful, quiet with excellent service and an amazing beach I would go to Sandals Royal Plantation. Thanks to Omar, the manager and Neil and Chase our amazing butlers and all of the wonderful staff!!
We spent a week at Royal Plantation in April. We visited with another couple, who had been there previously. We travel at least 2-3 time a year to all-inclusive vacation destinations in the Caribbean. I can honestly say the service at Royal Plantation is top notch. It starts with the butler service (Gladstone & Sherril), to the other butlers for our friends (Adrian & Alrick). They were wonderful! Always reaching out for any reservations, needs, or any way they could make the stay more accommodating. I will thank more people individually as we go, but the biggest props go to the General Manager, Omar Robinson. Out of all the resorts we have ever attended, I have never seen an employee who knew every attendee by name. He was involved in the daily activities, and I cannot express enough how much we appreciated his attention to our daily activities. This alone made this resort rise above any previous destination, and Sandals Royal Plantation should never let him leave. The resort itself is very quiet. It has a small pool, and a hot tub/spa. The beach is small, but very beautiful. The rooms and the views are gorgeous. Spend time at the eatery down by the ocean, or at the Tipsy Peacock for cocktails. The service is unmatched. I know I will forget names, but everyone was pleasant and always trying to make your vacation the best possible. Jlee was always very attentive as a server and Garnet was a great bartender! We played golf at Upton Estate Country Club a few times. The course is beautiful, and hilly. The caddie service was a first for us, but Zandre was awesome. Piece of advice, stay in the fairway. You also have access to two resorts Ochi Beach Club, and the Great House Estate, up the hill. You have transfers every hour from Royal Plantation to each, and every ten minutes between the two provided by iHop. It makes it very easy to attend the various restaurants and pools. The transfer drivers, shout out to Omar in particular, and Winston as well, were wonderful and entertaining. Ochi closer to the beach has a smaller pool with a swim up bar. The beach by the bar is rocky, with a lot of broken sea shells. Not easy on the feet. They had a convention that week, so it was pretty tame. The swim up pool/bar at the resort up the hill has a very lively atmosphere, and we enjoyed that each day. This is your typical resort swim-up bar, where Johnoi served some great icebergs. Entertainment team and music made it a very entertaining atmosphere. The Jerk Schack is worth attending every day, which we did. We are scuba divers, and the one knock on the resort, the dive shop was not the best. We checked in, were told "all good." Then on the boat, we were told we did not check in. I spoke with the same person I checked in with, to get the sheepish look of "my fault." Before that, the same person told our friends we did not check in. The next day we booked two dives. Before we left, we checked in for two dives for the following day and were told "all good". The next day, when checking in for the second dive, we were told we had not signed up for that dive. Thankfully, there were openings. Unfortunately, this all occurred with one dive shop operative. Divers understand there will be a dive briefing, guide, and expectations. It was very relaxed, and people missed the briefing, did not have dive buddies, and who was the lead guide was a question mark on almost every dive. We are experienced divers, so we're all good, but stating, "If you don't have a dive buddy, were all family, so watch out for each other" is not a safe practice. The teppanyaki, and Soy restaurants were excellent. Shout out to Rafiki and Jeffrey at Soy. The seafood restaurant down by the water was a WOW, and the Red Snapper is a must have for seafood lovers. A neat evening spot is The Rabbit Hole. It's a speak easy at the Ochi. Very cool old school spot to enjoy some music and a cocktail. The atmosphere is worth the stop, even if you are not a big drinker. All of the bars and bartenders were very accommodating. We have used TripGuy Travel for over twenty years. For anyone looking for feedback, input, or peace of mind when booking, I would highly recommend their service. Mitch Toren has been our point of contact for years, and his staff, Laurie (and too many to name) have been wonderful. We did a private shuttle back to the airport through Reggae Tours, booked by Mitch at TripGuy. We have used this service multiple times in Jamaica, and we have never been disappointed. They are professional, courteous, and it was like a tour guide through Jamaica. The bottom line: This is a beautiful resort with some of the best service we have ever encountered. It is a quiet resort, but the access to the other two resorts give you several options during the stay.
We had been to every Sandals and many multiple times except for Royal Plantation. Why we hadn’t gone here before, have no idea but so glad we finally went Feb 2026. Omar (GM) was amazing!!! He knew everyone of the guests by name. How he does this, we have no idea …. he is one of the best Sandals managers ever. Always takes the time to talk to every guest and to make sure you have everything you need …. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe Omar!! He and his entire staff go above and beyond anything that we ever expected. They all really care and make you feel just like family. The Royal Planation is smaller than other Sandals, but this is probably what makes it so special. You feel right at home the minute you walk in. The week we were there, the weather was rather cool, but didn’t stop us from enjoying the beach, making new friends and enjoying spectacular food. Views from every angle were priceless. Hats off to our fantastic Butlers Johovan and Andre
We have been to many excellent hotels including all inclusive. Royal Plantation is head and shoulders above all the AI resorts we have stayed in. From the complimentary resort transfers, the butlers beach butlers and not forgetting Omar and the rest of his amazing staff. Outstanding service, food and premier branded drinks. All sea view suites complete the experience. Special mention to Bebeato and Marvin (our butlers) who looked after us. I just have one question - how does Omar know every guests name? The best advert is that EVERYONE we spoke to had booked a return visit, as we have
Another amazing stay at SRP. Only really came on here to thank all the staff who make this place something truly special. The manager Omar has made a big difference. He comes round and talks to every guest but most importantly he listens to their feedback and actually does something about it. A couple of years ago we gave some feedback and it was great to see that the resort and management had taken it on board and made changes. He and the team are doing an amazing job Sandals - you are lucky to have them! The resort is being carefully updated - not so much to lose the charm that it has, but freshened so to make everything that bit more comfortable. We liked the updates to the room and to the resort itself. The staff here are some of the best I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Everyone from the reception, to the waiting staff, bar staff, butlers, beach butlers, spa staff, room attendants are amazing and super friendly. Big shout out to our butlers Chase, Neil and Carlos, the beach boys Trevado, Romaine and Daniello, the mighty bar team of Garnet and Junior alongside Tressil and my favourite lady in the spa Shirley. See you next January, we cannot wait to come home :)
We had an incredible experience at the Sandals spa and couldn’t be more pleased with the level of care we received from start to finish. Diana and Camille were our massage therapists and they were absolutely wonderful! They were skilled and genuinely focused on making sure we felt our best. We left feeling so much better than when we arrived, which is exactly what we hoped for. Tiffany at the front desk deserves a special shoutout. We had an issue with our appointment times, and rather than turning us away, she handled it gracefully and accommodated us without missing a beat. Samuel and Marcia were our spa attendants and did a great job showing us around and making sure we felt comfortable and oriented from the moment we walked in. The team also suggested some great products during our visit, but there was absolutely no pressure. Overall, the entire staff made this a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend the spa at Sandals and if you’re lucky enough to get this team, you’re in great hands!
My stay at Sandals Royal Plantation was truly unforgettable thanks to my butler, Neil. From the moment I arrived, he made sure I had everything I needed and more. His attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine warmth made me feel completely taken care of. Neil didn’t just provide great service—he made the experience feel personal. He anticipated what I wanted before I even asked, checked in at the perfect times, and created a level of comfort that felt like family. Every part of my stay was elevated because of him. If you’re visiting Royal Plantation, you’ll be lucky to have Neil. He made my trip exceptional.
Great stay two butlers which were amazing and made our stay perfect. Pool was great and drinks and food
As an overall review, we’ve had, yet again another fantastic holiday. This has been our 7th visit to SRP and being able to return for a relaxing visit and to celebrate our 32nd Wedding Anniversary, meeting old and new friends and all the regular staff has been amazing. The improvements made since the new General Manager, Omar, has started are very noticeable and much appreciated as is his very visible presence around the property. The repainting and renovations of the building, as an ongoing project and because of the recent storms from last year, is now, pretty much completed. The suites have been fully renovated and add a new more modern feel with softer furnishings, whilst retaining the original charm and design. A great job, well done for succeeding in this difficult balancing act. Marvin and Bebeato - our dream team of butlers that we’ve had on every trip, have been amazing arranging all those little essential details, booking the restaurants, suggestions for lunch on the beach, and ensuring everything runs smoothly, making for a wonderful experience and relaxing holiday. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Marvin has been our butler every year since we started coming to SRP and we hope that he and Bebeato will continue to be so on future visits, that we’ve already got booked. They are a great team and we very much appreciated all they do. Romaine, Danielle and Trevado the three Amigos….better known to all as the famous “Beach Butler” continue to entertain and delight us with new drink suggestions, conversations wonderful charm, hard work and rapid service. You get a lovely feeling from all the staff that for them, working at SRP is more than just a job and that they are genuinely happy to help guests have a fantastic holiday. This is one of the main reasons that we come back. There’s a wonderful team here. Many that we have met over the years have progressed in the organisation and others newly joining seem energised. All the staff have been exceptional and it is difficult to list all the stars but the ones that have stood out the most this year are: Samual, previously a kitchen assistant. He’s now moved to the Spa, doing a great job. I’ve been in the gym a few times and we’ve reviewed his plan….he should be a very muscular next year when we visit. Such a friendly happy kid with his amazing smile and his hope to progress. We think he will be excellent in this role and we were delighted to see him. Well done to Sandals Management for encouraging such hard working youngsters and giving them a real opportunity. A new, to us Chef Vinroy, made a fantastic lobster risotto for us and some friends from previous years on the Terrance as an evening treat. Fabulous. Demario, doing evening service on the Terrace (and other sections) was such a great guy and worked so hard on a very busy night serving and ensuring we’d drinks, the table kept tidy and that we’d a great evening. Finally serving coffee as the rest of the tables emptied. David and Abbie have kept us supplied with wonderful omelettes and assorted dishes at breakfast with such a cheerful and engaging attitude that has made breakfast time a highlight of the day. Chevanese on the Terrace, and we’ve seen her at the Grill, has been excellent, to say she’s only been here a few months she fits in so well, like she’s been here years. Her friendliness, efficiency and attention to detail is great. We are sure that she has a lot of the skills and professionalism to make a great butler at some point in the future. The Breakfast ladies, always cheerful and smiling in a morning. Stephanie, Tiana, Vanya and Sherika at the Terrace and Grill always brighten our morning with their wonderful smiles and helpfulness. Fabian, from the Water Sports, has built a formidable team on the beach that is hard working but still fun to be around whilst constantly monitoring guest activity in the water sports area and rapidly responding to any events that occur. Tivanne from the beach team, such an energetic guy, never stops. Has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He handles the Big Glass bottom boat like a pro. Lovely to chat with. We remember him from when he started at the water sports and he continues to do such a good job throughout the day in keeping the sand and equipment clean. The Terrace Hostess, is such a lovely lady with lots of charm and character ensuring we’ve been given the best service on an evening. She keeps the evening service running efficiently and is an excellent team member. We will miss our evening chats. The in-house entertainment has been very good. All three Natarki, Alex and Brandon have done excellent performances. The external entertainment has been a good range of musical bands and singers and don’t forget Bob the balancing and Fire guy, brilliant Estina, who has kept our room spotlessly clean and tidy. There are of course many, many others that have helped to make our stay wonderful and we appreciate the whole team for their hard work and amazing attitude. The only slight negatives this year: the gym equipment is less with the demise of the rower, the Cross trainer was never replaced and there’s a few missing bits on other equipment. It really needs a full overhaul and lets the standard down for this level of resort. Thank you very much for making our vacation. We will be back next year.
We returned last Thursday from our first trip to Jamaica and our first Sandals visit — at Sandals Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios — and it was truly the best resort experience we’ve ever had. And I mean ever. This is a quieter, intimate resort with only about 75 rooms. It’s not a party place — and that’s exactly why we loved it. The vibe is relaxed, personal, and elevated. Evenings offered great entertainment without ever feeling loud or chaotic. If you’re looking for more nightlife, Sandals Ochi next door brings the energy. The speakeasy there, The Rabbit Hole, is a must — we saw Lady Cher perform, and she is incredibly talented. If you’re a big pool person, this may not be the perfect fit unless you’re comfortable heading next door to use the larger pools. Royal Plantation is more about the beach, the butler service, and the peaceful atmosphere. The food was outstanding — the coconut lobster was out of this world… and the lamb? Phenomenal. What truly sets this resort apart is the warm atmosphere, the attention to every little detail, and the phenomenal service — you don’t just feel like a guest… you feel at home. That culture starts at the top. Omar, the resort manager, leads in a way you can feel. He knows guests by name, checks in often, and sets a tone of pride and excellence that carries throughout the property. Our butlers, Sherril and Gladstone, were exceptional. From fresh coconut and lobster lunches on the beach to running out for authentic jerk chicken — the attention to detail was next level. And the excellence didn’t stop there: Junior at the Wobbly Peacock — always welcoming and incredibly patient. Daniello on the beach — attentive and genuinely friendly. Stefnie at breakfast — the perfect way to start every morning. Tresell — outstanding service and a fantastic sense of humor. Romain (aka “Fresh Prince”) — personality and professionalism combined… and yes, shoulder massages if you ask nicely. Giovani — amazing every time he served us. Anthony — had me rolling with his sense of humor (and the random meowing!). The piano player at the French restaurant — just wow. Winston, our airport driver — we learned so much from him. Wonderful to talk to and extremely professional. Omar, the shuttle driver — hilarious. I could have sat on that shuttle all day. Sequoia — lovely to talk to, extremely knowledgeable, and absolutely stunning on Valentine’s Day. No one was ever pushy. The service felt genuine. The atmosphere felt intentional. That’s why people return year after year — and now we completely understand why. After the hurricane hit the island months ago, the resilience and pride of the Jamaican people were deeply humbling. You can see the rebuilding, but what you feel is warmth and gratitude everywhere. If you want peace, exceptional service, and a truly personal experience — this is it. We will absolutely be back. Thank you all for everything. I tried to remember everyone’s names — you were all outstanding. One Love. 🇯🇲
We just got back from SRP… absolutely the most amazing and enjoyable vacation ever! Omar leads an exceptional team focused on excellence and hospitality. The more intimate resort and all butler format was new to us. What an incredible experience! Starting with our butlers, Bebeato and Marvin, the entire staff was friendly, professional, and really care about each guest. Avery was super attentive to our room, spoiling us everyday. The beach and pool butlers are great and conversation and service. Danielo made each day special and fun. The restaurants provided great food and options enough to keep us at SRP for almost all of our meals, even though shuttles run regularly to Sandals Ochi and Sandals Dunn’s River and the butlers will happily make reservations for you at restaurants at either of those resorts. Just a quick note here that we did go over to Ochi for sushi a couple evenings during our stay; Andrew the manager at Soy there runs a fantastic team making great sushi and providing a wonderful dining experience. Thanks Andrew! The bartenders and waiters across the resort are top notch. Kimiesha, Jlee, Garnet, and Junior make great drinks and quickly remember each guest’s preferences and are always ready for the next order. Another example of how special SRP is at making each guest feel like family. The waitstaff was also exceptional, with Chevon, Romaine always taking great care of us. In the Spa, Diana & Latoyell were fantastic, making a great spa morning for us on one of our days. Manesh, Sequoia, and Cymanthia were other team members in Travel and Guest Services that at first made us friends and then also made us feel like family and make SRP feel like home. The staff, the food, the drinks, the resort, all exceptional and make us sure we will be back. Thank you all at SRP!
Where to start. We stayed at the Royal Plantation in February 2026 and this was our first visit to a Sandals Hotel and our first visit to Jamaica. This was in our top three of holidays we have been on and probably number one. The hotel is made by its staff. It is an intimate hotel of around 74 rooms with two beaches swimming pools and 5 restaurants but you also have access to the much larger Sandals next door with its multiple restaurants and regular shuttle however, we loved RP so much we never bothered going. Every room is allocated two butlers and we had Robert and Anthony. They catered for every need and you have the option of using them as little or as much as you want. Robert and Anthony made our stay and arranged everything for us from dinner bookings to providing snacks in the afternoon left in your room. It was nice getting to know a bit about their personal lives and having booked to go back we have requested them again. The room was fantastic and the views overlooking the beach and sea were wonderful. It certainly was not a Fawlty Towers over there between the sky and the land moment [if you know you know]. The food was fantastic in all the restaurants and even with the relatively small number of restaurants we did not repeat a meal in two weeks. If you can stretch to paying extra for a Champagne and Caviar experience we would recommend this and Steve provided the perfect Valentines experience from explaining all about caviar and how to consume it to removing the cork from the champagne bottle using a cutlass. The nightly entertainment is pitched just right for us with a fantastic in house team and also local talent such as reggae singers and steel bands. A special mention goes out to the super talented Nataki Alex and Brandon [ apologies if the names are spelt wrong]. Omar is the manager and he ensures he meets every guest and has the ability to remember everyone's name along with Marvin. The staff all seem to like working here. There are two many people to name but the waiters from breakfast to the pool and beach waiters to the evening waiters were just fantastic. The special meal we had sitting by the water for my birthday was divine with a personal waiter Jevaughin Jackson making the evening perfect. We managed to do a number of trips to see the country including Bob Marley's 9 mile a dolphin swim and a trip to Fern Gully and Ocho Rios. We never had any issues finding a sunbed by the pool or beach. We also used the spa which provides a number of treatments including massages and hair treatments. The room was kept spotless by the excellent room staff who were brilliant. All of the staff seemed to have real pride in their work and work as one big team which is unusual. This is not a hotel for you if you want entertainment from dawn to dawn with nightclubs and games etc but if you want to experience a relaxing and peaceful slice of paradise with just the right amount of live entertainment and activities then we would recommend it. We loved it so much we have booked to go back via Horatio for 2027 and 2028 managing to secure a significant discount. We would like to thank each and every one of the staff for making our holiday perfect
We just came back from celebrating my Birthday and the staff could not have been nicer. Resort is all butler and service is great. Restaurants were excellent and they will add things not on the menu to your meal (eg griller lobster tails). We took advantage of the ability to go over to both Dunn's River and Ochi to check out and to eat 2 meals. One note butlers do not reserve spots on beaches or pool. I got up at 6 AM to make sure we got a spot and midafternoon there are very few spots left on beach and none at the small pool. Entertainment was a lot of fun. Final note this is Sandals smallest resort and the vibe is slow and relaxed. Not the place for young couples looking to party--go to Ochi or Dunn's instead. As always their number one asset is their employees and they go the extra kilometer here! Our butlers Tamara (also head butler) and Carlos were the best. Remember it takes a good 90 minutes to 2 hours to get there depending on traffic and the police check points. Resort is small/boutique but there are stairs to climb up and down to beach. We stayed in the Grand Duchess Oceanfront Verandah Suite in the west wing (better beach) and the balcony was ENORMOUS including a wet bar! If you want a slow relaxed vacation and to be pampered with incredible service this is your place.
We have just returned from our second visit to Sandals Royal Plantation and it was even better than the first time. Yes, the hotel needs a little further upgrading and perhaps a few more umbrellas on the beach, but the food and facilities were excellent. What makes it so good is the staff - superbly trained, professional and friendly with many recognizing us from our visit last year. Nothing is too much trouble. It would be impossible to name all those who stood out but to name a few: • Omar, the General Manager, who knows the name of EVERY gust • Marvin, Omar’s deputy, who has an eye for detail and is always looking at how things can improve • Lashaun on the front desk who arranged a late check out • Janet who kept our room spotless • Garnet, the barman, who makes everyone laugh • Stefinie and Ornella in the beach restaurant • Fabian, who enlivens every trip on the glass-bottomed boat • Marvin and Bebeato, our butlers, for whom nothing was too much trouble .... and all the others who give the guests a smile and wonderful service. Huge thanks to you all
My wife and two close friends recently stayed at the Sandals Royal Plantation resort in Ocho Rios Jamaica. The overall experience was once again fantastic driven in large part by the great people that work here. This was our 6th stay at this property in the past 10 years. This is a very special and unique Sandals property. This is a relatively small (<75 rooms), quiet, and relaxing experience. You will find that there are a very high number of returning guests which is a testament to the caliber of this experience. The facility is a historic resort built in the 1950’s and updated multiple times over the years. So the appearance of the facility is quite different from the newer Sandals resorts. But if you’re looking for a super quiet and relaxing escape, this is the place. As I mentioned earlier, the highlight of the Royal Plantation is the people. There are too many to mention in this review but our butlers, Richard and Duwainey, are truly special. Of note, all rooms at the Royal Plantation are “butler rooms” unlike most other Sandals properties. Finally, I believe that the overall manager, Omar, should also be mentioned because it’s clear that selection and training of all of the staff is exceptional. I would highly recommend the Royal Plantation resort.
My husband and I had a delightful vacation at Sandals Royal Plantation. All the rooms had a beautiful view of the ocean, were stocked with drinks, wine, soda and a daily surprise snack. Our butlers, Tamara and Carlos, went out of their way to ensure all our needs were met. They met us with smiles, answered all our questions, and provided helpful advice. The food was delicious and we looked forward to sampling a different restaurant each day. This is a quiet resort that offers relaxation and nightly entertainment. Every single staff member we met were the most friendly people we have ever encountered at any resort or vacation venue. Shout out to Simone, bartender at Royal Grill, for excellence service and cordiality. I highly recommend Royal Plantation to all! Oh, and make sure to book the romantic candlelight dinner for two.
To say we were blown away would be an understatement. We have been to 3 other Sandals resorts and while all excellent, cannot hold a candle to this one. From the time we stepped out of the car we felt right at home. It is difficult to call out specific staff because each and every one of them were fantastic. I have never been to a resort where the managers and staff all know your name by day 2 and the senior staff come to say goodbye when you leave. The level of personal care we felt from each and every one of the staff is hard to describe. Our butlers Johovan and Andre were fantastic taking care of all the little details of our stay including special lunches and dinner reservations. Marlyn our housekeeper was fantastic and friendly. Restaurant servers Vanya an Giovanni also super friendly any time we had them. Huge shoutout to bartender Garnett for his warmth, energy and drink suggestions in the evenings. A master of his craft. Beach is small but quite sandy and there is a chair available for every guest (and if there isn’t, just ask and they’ll bring you one). Beach bartenders and servers ensure you are never thirsty. Weather was unusually cold and windy when we were there so we didn’t get the chance to do much water sports or any boat tours but again, the staff was super friendly The resort only has a few restaurants but the menus are varied so we never felt like we lacked options. Ochi is right next door so we went there for one lunch and dinner and your butler will deliver pizza to you from there on request. Gold course is close by and in very good shape. Fairly open which is good to keep the ball in play, but listen to your caddy on approach shots because the greens are TINY. Resort is also QUIET so if you are there for either the pool scene or nightlife you’d be much better served to stay next door at Ochi. Looking forward to our stay next year to visit our new family. This resort, while quite small and not for everyone, is a crown jewel in the Sandals crown.
From the moment I arrived at Sandals Royal Plantation, I felt like I had come to a very special place—it truly feels like home. I was greeted in a way that made me feel valued and genuinely excited to be there. The level of personalized service is unmatched, and much of that starts with the incredible leadership. The General Manager, Omar, goes above and beyond to ensure every guest receives service tailored to their needs, whether that means special meals, preferred seating on the beach, or simply checking in to see how your day is going. At any given moment, you’ll see him around the resort talking with guests, asking if they need anything, or even picking up empty glasses—his attention to detail and care are remarkable. Marvin, the Hotel Manager, is equally exceptional. I truly can’t say enough about him. His main goal is to make sure guests are having the time of their lives, and he leaves no detail overlooked in making that happen. When I see Marvin, I know my stay is going to be extraordinary. As for my butlers, Alrick and Adriene, I could not have asked for more. Alrick was there every step of the way, checking in consistently to make sure I had everything I needed. He is a fantastic butler and truly excellent at what he does. Adriene brought so much warmth and joy to my stay—his smile lights up the room. From making sure I made it to dinner to surprising me with an extra snack by the pool, he was always attentive, welcoming, and fun. He truly added something special to my experience. If you’re looking for a resort that makes you feel genuinely cared for and truly special, Sandals Royal Plantation is the place to be.
From the moment our car pulls in and we see that spectacular entrance we know we are home. This was our 6 th visit and our 7 th is just 30 days away. Once you go you know , and all you want to do is return again and again and again. The entire team at this resort are second to none. From Omar the GM right on through the entire resort. You can feel Omar’s energy everywhere you go through his team Marvin and Roshane have been recently promoted and we were so happy to see their hard work recognized. The moment we walked into our room ( room 255) we could tell that Estena was our housekeeper. We were so happy to find out that she would be attending to our room by special request. We love our little daily chats with Estena and she does a fabulous job of keeping our room spotless. Our butlers Duwaynie and Richard. Well we don’t even know where to begin with these two fabulous gentleman. They are truly the dynamic duo. We don’t have to ask for anything. They just read our minds. Gio has gone alcohol free and not only did they make sure we had Heineken 0 in our room but it was also in our cooler and available everywhere along with alcohol free champagne. They look after us so well and are always wanting to do something more for us The beach butlers Romane, Daniello and Trevardo do a great job of making sure our cooler is always filled with fresh ice and my wine bottle isn’t empty. Always wanting to know if we need anything. We have had some great laughs with them as well. 3 guys with lots of love for life . They are very well suited for their roles! At the terrace every morning we are greeted by a great group. Stefanie,Sherika,Vanya and Tiana and David at the Omelette station always smiling. We had a couples massage with Kamille and Shurley. We always make sure to request them. They really make you feel relaxed and take all your pain and stress away. Room service was promptly at our door with our coffee and juice every morning at 7 a.m. Our nights are usually spent in or around the Wobbly Peacock. Such good times with Junior, Garnett, Tresell, Romaine, JLee and Collin. They make sure your glass is never empty ! We love to dine at LePapillon and usually manage to eat there most evenings. The food there is exquisite Best French Restaurant at any Sandals. The servers Chevy, Josef and Gavin are all top notch servers Chef Martin you do an outstanding job. From every restaurant we have had the pleasure of dining in to the SSG dinner to the VIP luncheon your talent really shines through We came to celebrate another New Years here and the party they throw is unbelievable. It was a great celebration. Good times had by all. Guests and staff both We saw Horacio from L&T and rebooked for New Years 2027/28. 26/27 was already booked. If you are thinking about coming to this little slice of paradise “ just do it” You won’t regret it. From the moment you arrive and look at the beautiful grounds that are so well kept by the landscaping team till the moment you depart with tears in your eyes you won’t be disappointed. Thankyou Omar and team from the bottom of our hearts for another fabulous visit at SRP Gio and Cathie
It has been our third stay at this absolute gem of a Resort, and it never fails to embrace you as a long lost friend. The welcome (champagne and welcome song) as you step off the transfer bus is just a small indication of what is to come. Flying from the UK is 10 hours and then the transfer is 1.5 hours from Montego Bay airport. However, it is well worth enduring to get to this little piece of paradise. We went to our first returners dinner this time and it is so interesting that there are many returners who only come to this Sandals resort - there is a clear loyalty to the kind hearted ambience that just oozes from every member of staff here. There was definitely a sense of appreciation from clients at how quickly and efficiently Omar and his team had dealt with Hurricane Melissa damage and quickly got the RP back to its best. Omar the GM, and Marvin (Head of Ops) of visible every day, mingling with everyone and understanding how they can make your holiday experience the best it can be. True professionals who deserve all the praise in these reviews. This year we chose a room on the East Side as opposed to the larger suites on the West. There was a little more traffic noise this side and no lift (but good for your step count to use the stairs), but we soon got used to any noise and we enjoyed being closer to the gym and spa area. But either side we can't choose between really - the views are incredible both sides, the rooms are so clean and immaculate. Yes, I can understand why some reviews state the rooms are dated but upgrades have been made and we love the colonial feel of the place rather everything super modern. WE love the French balcony set up and don't miss an outside balcony as the resort offers so many secluded nooks in which to escape. You never feel there are masses of people here as there are just 74 rooms. When we go to the bigger Sandals resorts for the dinner options. WE enjoy the change of scene but really love coming home to RP and getting away from the larger crowds and busier night life. The whole staff team at RP seem to be on the mission to make your holiday be the best it can be. The staff who we felt helped us have a memorable stay were: Galdstone & Sherril our Butlers who checked in every day and planned our itinerary with ease. Nothing was too much trouble. Gladstone in particular was amazing at organising everything from trips out, Dunns River Sandals to ensuring the room bar was fully stocked with our favourite tipples and snacks. Marlyn was our amazing housekeeper. She was graceful and cheerful every day and we really enjoyed our interactions with her. The room was always immaculate and there was clear attention to detail in every way. The waiting on team at the Terrace always seemed to make our visits to this incredible location just wonderful. Even when we were late. Tianna who was professional and welcoming even at the busiest times. Vanya, Stephanie and Wayne who all added such to joy to the dining process and remembered those little extras you forgot yourself. Jamie, in Room Service who we met last year was efficient and always professional. It was lovely to see him flourishing in his role. Making sure we had everything we needed. Peter also from Room service who was dedicated to making sure we had all we needed. We also enjoyed a couple of treatments at the Spa and I have to say Shirley and Rhona were excellent therapists. The massages and after care were incredibly relaxing. I just wish I could book in every day! Romesh in Sales is always so cheerful and helpful re bookings. Horatio was also welcoming and even helped us with rules of the Pool Table - basically nothing is too much trouble. Romaine, Danielo and the wonderful beach butler colleagues keep you topped up with your favourite refreshments, and are always happy and productive in their work. The small but well equipped gym was our haven most mornings. I was sad to see the rowing machine was no longer there (my only minus 1), but Omar explained new equipment was en route. It was no problem and I took advantage of the other equipment as new treadmills and bikes had just arrived. All in all we had another fabulous stay. We arrive weary and stressed and leave lighter and refreshed. You cant fail to not feel the 'happy vibe' at RP. Thank you Omar and all the RP for another fantastic holiday. Life is short and coming here helps us to remember that its these moments in special places making memories that count. See you again next year for more Plantation Coolers on the Beach! Keep shining bright as the stars you are
The staff was exceptional! Oraine and Sofaya were attentive. Our room attendant Marilyn was the sweetest. Kimnesha so kind and attentive. I felt she would make a great butler candidate. We viewed other sandals while we were there, but I must say that the Sandals Royal plantation is very special.
This was the best trip of our lives. The entire staff was Above and Beyond what we could have ever imagined. Omar and Marvin are great leaders. Our Butlers Orayne and Safiya made our trip wonderful. They helped us in celebrating our 25th anniversary. It was just the best experience ever. We were so happy, we rebooked for next Jan 2027. Can't wait to return.
From the moment we arrived at Royal Plantation we were treated like special guests. Practically every worker no matter what job they did knew us by name personally. There were so many special people that gave us outstanding service I can’t name them all but Omar the manager obviously does an outstanding job. We had our own private butler that was there to help us do or find anything we wanted. It was not hard to reach our butler and most of the time he or she sought us out. The accommodations are wonderful with a lovely beach area and a nice pool. This is a smaller more intimate resort so very easy to navigate. Food available whenever and wherever you wanted it. They would make you almost anything you wanted. Highly recommend. We kayaked and snorkeled right at the resort. Everything was easy and honestly the most relaxing vacation we’ve ever taken. Some of the people that made our experience so amazing are Norayne and Safeya, our butlers, Marvin who drove us to the other Sandals resort because he didn’t want us to have to wait, Kimisha, all the Romains, Danielle and so may others whose name escape me.
Our first time to SRP We are diamond members and have visited many Sandals resorts but SRP was phenomenal. From the moment we entered the sandals lounge at the airport to the day we departed the service was absolutely first class. The team at SRP ate led by Omar the GM He is a very special Man, all of the staff adore him and he adores them too. He knows every guests name and every evening he goes around the restaurants and greets the guests The staff we remember as being extra special were Janet our house keeper, Junior and Crocodile in the Wobbly Pracock Trevado the beach butler All of the water sports lads, Our butlers Orayne and Sophia were amazing Ramesh in TL The guest service manager a fantastic guy always happy and smiling, Also Marvin Omar's number 2 We were there for Xmas and new year The accomodation, service, restaurants, cleanliness were 100% Over driver Martin was adorable to We have booked again for Xmas and new year We have fallen in love with Omar, his amazing team and SRP Thankyou
All I have to say about Sandals Royal Plantation. Where in the world can you go to a resort and have your flight cancelled and the GM (Omar) is waiting on all guests that were cancelled to help rebook and extend people’s stay if needed. The service here is way more than anyone can ask for. Very personal treatment, made everyone very comfortable and relaxed after the high stressed morning. Thank you Omar and the Sandals crew
We were originally booked at Sandals Royal Caribbean but got relocated due to the Hurricane. We were worried that it would be just a 'fill in' and not up to the level we originally reserved-a beachfront room right on the beach with a soaking tub and a Dutler. We had little options left when we booked and chose Royal Plantation. We added Club Mobay which was a great idea for arrival and departure. Since we had visited Jamaica at Couples resorts 5 times previously, we knew Club Mobay was the way to get efficiently through the airport and Custome/Immigration. Our first introduction to the trip, was our private transport from the airport to the resort in a BMW-very comfortable for that 90 minute trip. Our driver was friendly and adept at the crazy traffic maneuvering that had to be done. Our arrival was lovely-singing staff with champagne awaited us and introduced us to our Butler who quickly got us settled and comfortable. This resort is very boutique and lovely-only 74 rooms which means the staff all know your name and it is a very personalized experience. The Butlers are outstanding and literally go out of their way to provide anything you want-you just have to ask. The food is absolutely outstanding as well-presentation, portions, menu selection, and overall taste and quality. We have never had better food or more options-who can complain about lobster for lunch served in your room or poolside? Butlers provide endless beverages and check on your refill status continuously. They provide additional extras like cheese and crackers in your room every afternoon, special reservations if you want to trysomewhere else, taxi service-you name it. For those with mobility issues, getting to the beach is quite tough-at least 50 stairs to get there and that means 50 stairs back. Most rooms have a step that separates the room from the bar/balcony area which can be easily missed or forgotten about and a real hazard. Most rooms do NOT have walk in showers so upgrades are nexessary for that convenience. Steep steps to get in the hot tub as well, so not for the handicapped. The beds are divinely comfortable and lines are top notch quality. Very few balconies are outside your room-most are French with just sliding doors-not what we had originally reserved. The staff assisted us with our mobility issues and made sure we had a room that was safe for us-that was outstanding. I have never knownmore accommodating staff anywhere. Overall, this is a lovely resort with many, many repeat customers, as you will fall in love with the atmosphere, food, staff and entire experience. We would definitely consider coming back since we met so many nice people we want to mingle with again as well as we want to have the RP experience again. The General Manager is exceptional and the entire staff love their jobs-you can see it and hear it in every area of this resort. If you are not into crowds and loud entertainment or activities but want to soak in the sun, atmosphere and RP excperience, this is a total win!
My wife and I want to share our appreciation for the outstanding experience we had at Sandals Royal Plantation. When our vacation was shifted from Royal Caribbean to Royal Plantation due to Hurricane Melissa, we were unsure what to expect. Honestly, we may never have chosen SRP otherwise—but what we found was truly exceptional. From arrival, the experience exceeded expectations. Being greeted by name by the General Manager and our butler immediately upon arrival set the tone for a level of hospitality that remained consistent throughout our stay and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Our butlers were outstanding—always available, attentive, and proactive. From meals to planning our week, every detail was handled effortlessly. We experienced a level of care and service that went well beyond anything we’ve encountered elsewhere. This was our fifth Sandals vacation, and without question, our best. While all Sandals resorts are excellent, the team at Sandals Royal Plantation raised the bar. They have earned our loyalty for life. We’ve already changed our 2026 visit to return here and booked an additional week for 2027. We can’t wait to come back.
For years we have talked about staying at Sandals Royal Plantation after seeing a video about the property on YouTube. Since we were staying at another resort in Ocho Rios this month, we added a three day stay here to get a little taste of the place. It was delicious! First things first, we planned the trip far in advance. Then Hurricane Melissa hit the island and we figured we would have to reschedule. Our arrival date was December 9, and to our surprise, the property reopened on December 6. We decided to go. It was a good decision. This is a very small, boutique resort designed in the classic British, Caribbean style. There are just over 70 total rooms. The grounds and buildings were in top condition, a shout-out to the staff who worked hard to recover from the hurricane. You could see where there was damage to the landscaping, but you had to look hard. As beautiful as the property is, the staff is what makes this place wonderful. It all starts with the GM, Omar. He is a ball of energy who greets you warmly and remembers your name, your likes and dislikes, and what you expect from your stay from the moment you arrive and throughout your entire stay. You never know when you might turn an corner and there he is with a welcome and a smile. Every room is a butler room here. Our butlers, Tamara and Safiya did a wonderful job making sure everything was just right. They were there when we needed them, but did not intrude at all when we wanted to be alone. An example of the service was after our first night. We had an issue with noise around our room. I just mentioned it in passing to Tamara, and within an an hour we were given a new room. Omar came by to also make sure we were satisfied with the change. The attention to detail is amazing. There are two beaches at Royal Plantation, the east and the west. One beach is for smokers so we stayed away from that one (we called it the stinky beach ... yes, we are that immature). The other is a wonderful white sand beach. No water shoes needed for this one. There are beach butlers who bring you anything you need while relaxing on the beach. Daniel was especially pleasant and helpful. When we go to Sandals we like to spend time in the resort's British Pub. The one at Royal Plantation is called The Wobbly Peacock. Kimmie and Junior were 2 of the bartenders at the pub and they were wonderful. I know this whole review looks like it was written by the Sandals PR department, but we really did have that good a time. We have rebooked and will return for a slightly longer stay in April.
Our most recent stay at Sandals Royal Plantation was an absolute dream. This is our 3rd visit. The views, food, and intimate setting were all top-notch, the true heart and soul of this resort are the incredible staff. I have to give a massive, heartfelt shout-out to the bartenders and servers—who truly operate with the grace and attentiveness of royal handmaids! From the moment we settled in by the pool or on the beach, we never had an empty glass or a moment of wanting for anything. The service was not just prompt; it was anticipatory. Our drinks were often refreshed before we even realized we were running low! The staff at The Wobbly Peacock, The Terrace, and the beach bars were exceptional. They learned our favorite orders instantly and delivered everything with a genuine smile and a cheerful chat. They were always circulating, ensuring every guest felt personally attended to, moving with a quiet efficiency that was truly impressive. Our room was serviced perfectly by Marilyn. She magically knew when we were out and we could return to a perfect clean room. She was so nice. Giovanni at the Terrace restaurant was amazing and friendly. Our room butlers Bebeato and Marvin always made sure we had everything we needed. The beach butlers Daniello, Trevardo and Romaine are THE BEST, you never go without a drink or food and they are so friendly and fun. It felt less like a large resort and more like being a treasured guest in a grand private estate, all thanks to the impeccable service. They are the definition of Luxury Included. If you're looking for a resort where the service elevates your vacation to an experience of pure, unadulterated pampering, look no further than Sandals Royal Plantation. Omar the GM remembers everyone and calls you by name every time he sees you and makes a point to visit everyone all day every day. We cannot wait to return and Horatio from the Loyalty and Travel team made sure to help us book our next vacation!
We had a wonderful time at our Manor Side Villa. The accommodations were beautifully appointed with a wonderful view of the sea. Our butlers, LaDana and Jason, attended to every detail for us. It was our 45th wedding anniversary and could not have been more wonderful. The spa services were great, as well. We would highly recommend this resort.
Arrived back today from Royal plantation. We were 5 days late returning because of hurricane Malissa. The level of care we received during and after the hurricane was beyond amazing, especially when they and their families had been through so much. Omar the general manager and every member of his staff should be applauded for making everyone’s stay so special. A special mention to our butlers Andre and Johovan for looking after us so well and to the beach butlers for keeping us topped up with cocktails. Already planning our next trip, as I can’t imagine not returning. Stay safe and preying that Jamaica and its wonderful people recover quickly from this awful natural disaster.
A Truly Exceptional Experience – Our New Home Away from Home We recently returned from the Sandals Royal Plantation, and even after nine wonderful days, it was still incredibly difficult to leave. We actually departed a day early on Saturday, October 25th, to avoid Hurricane Melissa, but our hearts were still very much there. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by warm, familiar smiles and even welcomed personally by the hotel manager who knew us by name — something I’ve never experienced before at any resort. That level of genuine hospitality set the tone for what would become one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. We had just come from Sandals Royal Caribbean, which was lovely in its own way, but it simply couldn’t compare to the level of personalized service and attention to detail we experienced at Royal Plantation. Originally, we were booked for seven nights at Sandals Ochi and three nights at Royal Plantation, but after just one night, we knew we wanted to stay at Plantation for our entire trip. A special thank-you to Omar, the General Manager, who seamlessly made that change for us. He handled everything with such professionalism and care, allowing us to completely relax and enjoy every moment of our stay. Our two incredible butlers, Bigs and Ricky, were simply outstanding. Both were friendly, attentive, and dedicated to ensuring every detail was perfect. They truly elevated our experience. Anthony needs to be mentioned, he was not our butler but you wouldn't have known it thanks to his service. We also want to extend our gratitude to the Loyalty and Travel team — Mr. Bean and Sequoia — for taking care of both our spring and fall bookings. It was a pleasure working with you, and your efficiency and kindness did not go unnoticed. Marvin, the Operations Manager, also deserves high praise. The resort runs like a well-oiled machine under his guidance — everything flowed perfectly, and his professionalism shone through in every detail. I’ll always be grateful for his thoughtful insight and the special mention of page 61 in All That’s Good — a meaningful touch that truly resonated with us and reflects the resort’s culture of excellence. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond. Lashawna greeted us with a big smile and a keen eye for detail. Stephnie provided wonderful service, while Romaine kept the atmosphere lively and fun. Donello ensured my glass was never empty, and Natalia made breakfast a joy every morning, remembering our preferences without even needing to ask. Vanya was incredibly attentive and a true pleasure to be around, while Chevon provided excellent service at the French restaurant. And a heartfelt thank-you to Wayne, the Food and Beverage Manager, whose leadership and dedication were evident in the consistency and excellence of his entire team. Finally, a special thank-you once again to Omar, whose tireless efforts to help us find a flight home in the midst of the storm were deeply appreciated. Sandals Royal Plantation has truly become our new home away from home. The warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shown by every member of the team have set a new standard for hospitality. Customer service like this simply doesn’t exist anymore, and we are beyond grateful to have found such a remarkable place. We are already counting down the days until our return. With heartfelt gratitude, Michael & Marian
We recently returned from a fabulous 8 night stay at this lovely boutique resort. This was our 12th visit! What makes it stand out for us is the genuinely caring staff members. Omar and his management team are dedicated to making sure that we are their #1 priority. They are on the property continuously interacting with guests. And just like “Cheers” everybody knows your name! We received Outstanding service from all staff members, as usual, especially our butlers, Adrian and Aldrich the ‘A’ team; beach butlers Daniello, Trevardo and Romaine; servers Stephnie, Sherika, Tiana, Sheena, Demario, Andre, Romaine, Chevon; Hotesses: Vanya and Nicola; Wobbly Peacock bar: Junior, Garnet, Tresell, Simone, Romaine and Nyaza; Lorna and her ladies in the gift shop; Sequoia at the Loyalty Desk and Housekeeping’s Naruiska. There are also many staff members working almost invisibly everyday grooming the beach and doing landscape and general maintenance in order to keep SRP beautiful and who may not always get noticed, But we see you! The food, as usual, was delicious especially at the French restaurant where Chevon provided excellent service all evening. Loved the food at the Royal Grill and the returning guest dinner was exceptional—-Surf and Turf. We very much enjoyed our made-to-order lunch requests which our Butlers delivered to us on the beach. Sorry if I forgot to mention someone by name but all of the staff were fantastic! The resort is lovely and there are so many opportunities to meet other guests, many of whom are loyal SRP fans like us. Looking for to going “HOME” again next year!
Coming to Sandals Royal Plantation is like going home to your family. From you step into the lobby all the staff want to do is ensure you are happy and well taken care of. Whether you are a 1st time guest or a regular, you will be met with warm smiles, cold drinks, and good vibes! Just a short drive from either airport, the hotel is nestled on the best stretch of beach on the north coast. The rooms are always clean and the grounds are beautiful and quiet. Everything is included and what they don't have you can always find nearby. Your personal butlers (yes I said butlers...you are assigned two for your stay to make sure you are always well taken care of) will go above and beyond to make sure you are relaxed and pampered. Our Butlers Adrian and Alrick are the best. Literally the "A team". Whether it is surprise cookies waiting for you in the room or regular checkins with your favorite food in town. They are always on point and just so helpful and lively. I also have to highlight some of the staff who are also quite excellent. Romaine and Gavin from the restaurants. Trevardo at the beach who ensures that you always have a drink in hand. Even if you are in the water he ensures to come get your drink order and then brings it to you. Top notch attention. Thr ladies of the terrace Simone, Tiana, Tanya and Sherika make sure you are well taken care of for all meals. Stephanie from the grill will bring you anything you need always with a smile. Also have to shoutout to Sherika and Doneil. The excellent service is not just at the level of the hospitality team and front desk but also from the management of the hotel. I have never seen a general manager as involved with the team and the guests as Omar. He and Marvin were always around making sure things were running smoothly and that all the guests were happy. Honestly, this is the best hotel in Jamaica. We go back at least twice a year. And as a local that says a lot about the quality of service and the value of all that we receive. Sandals Royal Plantation is somewhere you will want to go back to each and every year. To my husband and I, they always say "welcome home", and that's what it feels like to us.
Stunning location and exceptional staff!! I don't know how the staff always seemed to locate us and greet us by name. Even the manager found us and introduced himself. Everyone there seems like they are out to make your vacation above and beyond. Highly highly recommend this resort! Wow!!
The high number of retuning guests is a very good indication that this hotel is delivering a high standard of hospitality. We have visited this hotel several times and have always had a wonderful holiday experience. This visit our Butlers were Richard and Dwainey both absolute professionals who made us feel at home and were kind and considerate - thank you both so much x huge respect for you both x just a fantastic team. The rooms have been upgraded since our last visit and as always clean and beautifully presented. The food and service at this all inclusive hotel did not disappoint. The Royal Grill in the evening and Soy at Ochi where the food and service was just 5* every time. Everyone is friendly and it is such a happy place to be. The Spa is relaxing and friendly. Spa therapist Rona was very professional and is a wonderful person. Lorna and the two beautiful ladies in the shop are always happy to help and have a chat with. Huge thank you to the beach butlers, the breakfast and dinner servers, the friendly mixologists at the Wobbly Peacock and everyone that took the time to have a chat and make us feel at home.
We booked the villa plantana and arrived on October 8-15, 2025. We arrived on resort at 2:30pm. We were greeted with the most amazing staff, a glass of champagne and cold towels! I always love them!! We met Omar, the GM and felt like family immediately! They quickly checked us in, our butlers Keonio and Delgardo gave us a tour of the resort and took us to our villa. They gave us a tour inside and out. Our few requests of alcohol and non alcoholic beverages were in the room and the few other requests i had put in! Floor fan too! When we walked out to our private pool area, that view!!! Absolutely gorgeous!! We were the only ones staying in the villa. We like our privacy so this was perfect! It’s 3 bedroom. You can book 2 other couples but we chose to have it to ourselves. It was so nice to sit outside every morning with my cup of coffee and have a pastry and fruit that keonio or delgardo delivered every morning. It was so peaceful. We went to the Terrace to have breakfast each morning. We would then go to the beach until lunch and head back to the villa to have lunch and relax around the pool. The clouds would roll in mid afternoon with rain. We would sit under the covered area and take it in! We would then get ready for dinner. We throughly enjoyed every meal at every restaurant. Great menus at each restaurant. My favorite at each Sandals’s we visit is the pub. The Wobbly Peacock did not disappoint! I was blown away from arrival until we left by every staff member! They remembered our names, what we drank, what our food choices would be. This resort is like no other we’ve been to. I now see why so many keep going back. The level of one on one you get from the staff is something I’ve never experienced! Our butlers keonio & delgardo were dedicated to the villa only so that level of care was unmatched! They were there as much as we wanted them as little. They were never intrusive but if we asked for anything (I don’t think we ever even had to ask for anything) they were on it and there! They are definitely the best butler team we’ve ever had in our 20 sandals visits! Shanique made sure the villa was spotless every morning and evening. What a gem she is! She always took a few minutes to talk to us and make sure we didn’t need anything else or if there was something else she could do for us. She was the sweetest of them all! She always made sure to say goodbye, see us tomorrow. She started out as our housekeeper but quickly became our friend! I loved seeing her each day! Her smile and attitude was so refreshing! She made sure to say goodbye to us on our departure day. I miss her so much! We had a nasty storm come in on Monday. The rain came hard and fast. The pool & hot tub overflowed. Water was standing all around the villa. It was crazy! As soon as the rain let up, not quit completely but slowed down chadway & Rashawn was there to clean it all up. In less than an hour they had it looking like we never had a storm! Monday night we had the in room dinner cooked by private chef vinroy. All of our meals were amazing but this meal was over the top! My steak really didn’t even need a knife to cut. It was cooked perfect and was so tender! Keonio set our table up beautifully. We traveled with another couple and invited them to dine with us. We also asked keanio to stay. I was so glad he did. He was such a great added guest and had great conversations with him! We enjoyed our daily encounters with Omar. No matter what business he was taking care of he took time to speak to us and feel like we were his only guests. The same as he did with others. His level of a GM is amazing. We felt the same of Marvin. Always so personable and never felt our conversations were rushed when we spoke to him. We rebooked on site for a return visit for October 2028. While it’s a ways away it will be worth the wait because now i have experienced why this resort is so special!
Just got home from two weeks stay, which we booked on site before we departed last year. This was the first time we have ever done this. It speaks volumes that we have done the same this year to return in 2026! We want to convey our appreciation to the wonderful team working at this hotel. We could state people’s names but we would be in danger of missing someone out. Suffice is to say that absolutely 100% of the team whether (in no particular order) Manager, Housekeeping, Gardener, Bar, Butlers, Beach Butlers, Restaurant Teams, Chefs, Loyalty Team, Maintenance, Drivers, Reception, Entertainment are outstanding. Everyone with a genuine smile, warmth and absolute professionalism. Guest are made to feel very special in this very special place. Mr & Mrs Jones (UK)
This was a special offer for September from the UK. We know the diving can be better in other countries but we were interested in this resort as it is small and Butler only suites. It is not for those who like a party atmosphere or large swim-up pools but suited us and like-minded 'oldies'. Service and quality of restaurants are excellent and we would happily revisit even without the diving. We were also very lucky to be here on the occasion of turtles being released from their nest.
This was our 6th visit to SRP and we booked three more while on property. This is simply a magical place. We cannot imagine vacationing anywhere else. We were blessed this trip to have stayed in room 360, The Governor General Suite. It sits atop the West Wing on the far end closest to the ocean. To say it was remarkable is an understatement. I recently wrote the following Thank You note to Omar, the General Manager. Good Morning Omar! Tim and I arrived home safely yesterday evening with all of our art carvings intact! I apologize in advance for the length of this email but I would be remiss in not giving a shout out to you and your staff....... I am not sure where to begin to thank you and your amazing staff for probably our best vacation ever. Your energy is palpable and it reflects in each and every staff member we encountered throughout the week. I hope they all know how appreciated each and every one of them are to us. I am sure I will miss some names here but I'd like to give a shout out to those we have known over the years and those that we met for the first time this year. They are all special people and each one went out of their way to make this trip special for us. I start with Andre and Johovan. They are nothing short of amazing. We consider them friends and family. Their attention to detail, their spirit, all of the special touches throughout our stay were just wonderful. I can't imagine a vacation there without them. Sherril holds a very special place in our hearts. She was one of our very first butlers in 2014 and her infectious laugh and spirit continue to warm our hearts. Even though we were not her guests, she took time for us to catch up and reminisce over the past and it was lovely. In 2023 we met dear Vanya at The Terrace and we were thrilled to see her again this year. She has the most wonderful warm smile. We were also blessed to see Tiana and Stephne and we met Sherika for the first time and enjoyed her lovely personality at The Terrace and The Grill. We also met Sheena, Giovanni and Romaine for the first time at dinner and they were so warm and engaging. In 2023 we also met dear Chevon (Chevy) up in La Papillon. He holds a corner of our hearts and we were thrilled to reconnect with him again this year. He brings pure joy to everything he does. To Chef Martin and Chef Vinroy, we cannot thank them enough for the wonderful food they produced each and every day and the special lobster dishes (yum!) and of course our private meal on our balcony. They are simply spectacular! A huge shout out goes to Daniello, Trevardo and Romaine down at the beach. We have known them for many years and they are fantastic beach butlers. They made our time down on the beach so much fun. They are all three wonderful individuals and work so very hard. Of course there is the Wobbly Peacock. It was wonderful to reconnect with Tressel. She makes the #1 espresso martini I have ever had anywhere! There of course was also Garnet, Junior and Jlee. All of them were so much fun! At the spa, Dianna was fantastic and it was a pleasure spending some time with Trecia, the head of the spa. To Marvin.... he was and has always been a great person to have conversation with and his love for what he does clearly shows in everything he touches. I huge shout out to our room attendant, Nariesha. She was always so polite and clearly cared greatly for her job as she had amazing attention to detail throughout our stay. I hope we can have her again in 2026! There are also all of the beach attendants who took care of the beach each day. I wish I had their names. I would watch them prepare the beach each morning and it was just amazing what great care they took to make the beach ready for everyone every morning. Finally, many thanks to Sequoia for showing us a couple of new room options and helping me to book our next three stays at Royal Plantation . I truly hope that Tim and I show appropriate appreciation and respect to your entire staff when we visit SRP. You all make this a place we continue to want to return to as often as we are blessed to be able to do so. We do not ever take for granted how lucky/blessed we are to be able to come to this beautiful place and to be treated in such a special way. We are truly humbled each and every time we are there. Thank you again for indulging my lengthy email. And thank you again for all you do in leading this great staff of people. We are ever so grateful for you. One Love and until March 2026....
Everything about the resort was wonderful, the management (Marvin and Omar) always remembered our names and the daily cocktail popsicles on the beach were much appreciated. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We loved all the little games including darts, croquet, pickleball, pool, backgammon, corn hole, shuffleboard and bocce ball to name a few. The water was amazing for swimming and we also enjoyed our regular kayaking, thank you to the water sports team for looking after us. The beach butlers remembered our drinks order and always seemed to be there when you needed refreshment. Our own butlers Marvin and Bebeato were great and looked after us brilliantly, no request was too much trouble. The loyalty and travel team were great and we got to know them well through our daily games of pool. Horatio and Mahesh were lovely and we got to know Sequoia really well. Never having played pickleball before we really enjoyed our games of doubles pickleball with David and Russ and Simeon the coach shouting encouragement. The food was exceptional and all the serving staff were really friendly and accommodating. Overall it was a brilliant holiday and we have already booked to go back.
My wife and I chose Sandals Royal Plantation for our honeymoon, which also coincided with her birthday — and words can hardly capture just how magical our stay was. This wasn’t just a vacation, it was the beginning of our married life together, celebrated in the most beautiful setting, surrounded by people who went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we were welcomed with warmth, smiles, and genuine care. The atmosphere is intimate and luxurious without ever being stuffy — every detail felt designed to help us relax and focus on what mattered most: each other. But what truly made this trip so extraordinary were the incredible staff. I have to mention the people who made a big impact, but this list is by no means exhaustive!: Garnet – a brilliantly fun and enthusiastic bartender who lifted the energy every evening with his singing voice, dance moves, and magnetic personality. . Anthony and Robert – our personal butlers, who turned our honeymoon into a dream. They went above and beyond in ways that left us speechless, always ensuring we were relaxed, cared for, and treated like royalty. Collin – a young, exemplarily polite bartender who impressed us with his professionalism and kindness at every interaction. Kimiesha – a fun and lively bartender who brought so much joy and laughter to our days and magic in our glasses. Tracy Ann – the lovely breakfast hostess who greeted us with warmth each morning, offering recommendations that always set us off on the right foot. Matthew – a charming young waiter whose smile was so contagious it made every meal brighter. Treyvaughn and Chadwing – who led our boat tour and snorkelling trip with energy, humour, and knowledge, turning an adventure into one of our favourite days. Jevaughn – who served our candlelit dinner with such grace and respect that the whole evening felt like it had been lifted straight from a romance movie. Rodrigo – the talented photographer who captured moments so beautifully that we couldn’t resist buying 15 photos, despite telling ourselves we wouldn’t splurge. Tiana – a delightful terrace hostess who looked after us so warmly. Vanya – the attentive and cheerful server who always made sure our mimosa glasses were full. Alison – the massage therapist who gave my wife the best massage she has ever had. She still talks about how incredible that experience was. Nataki – a vibrant entertainer whose talent and easy charm brought so much joy to the evenings, always mingling and making guests feel part of the magic. Nicola – the gracious hostess at the French restaurant, who made dining there feel so elegant and special. Tresell – one of the wonderful wait staff who radiated grace and warmth. Estina – our meticulous housekeeper, who ensured our room was spotless and perfectly made each day, always with thoughtful attention to detail. Marvin – one of the managers, whose polished and professional presence spoke volumes about the standards here. Omar – the general manager, who absolutely floored us with his ability to remember names after a single meeting. His personal touch and pride in this resort were unmistakable, and it’s clear he leads by example. Every single person we met made us feel like our honeymoon and birthday celebration truly mattered to them, not just as guests, but as people. That kind of genuine care is rare, and it really turned our trip into the memory of a lifetime. This place isn’t just a resort; it’s a place where love and joy are celebrated every single day, by a team of people who pour their hearts into what they do. We left with full hearts (and tummy's), and promises to ourselves that we will return. This is the perfect destination.
Just returned today from a 14 night vacation at this 5☆hotel. Im not a review person at all but felt i needed too after this visit. Too summerise the experience it was "incredible". I've stayed in many hotels across the world and carribean- This is in different league. From arrival a welcome fresh towel and bubbly set the tone for things to come. Firstly let me get the manager' Omar ' part out thr way. This guy is just outstanding. Remembers your name from your first meeting and ensures every guest is greeted by name and takes time to speak with everyone. The fact he is always visible and even brings out ice lollies to the beach speaks volumes. No hiding in an office, just proves how good this hotel is... This is echoed by all the staff, so many to name- special thanks though to Stacey ann at breakfast, Garnet and colin from the peacock- Tanya at terrece and Brandon for entertainmentand laughs. They all are a credit to the hotel and make everyday feel like being with friends rather than just guests. We visited Sandals Dunns river for a Dinner which highlighted just how good the plantation Is. Dunns river was scripted, rushed with staff having no personality at all. Yes its new and large but there was no character or sense of belonging. Every meal we have eaten during the stay was just brilliant. The French restaurant onion soup is to die for, and even the bar menu at the peacock is just Fabulous. Trying fit all the meals in is the only problem we had as we just wanted to tru them all. We did find that all the menus were just guides, if you want anything creating off menu it was possible, or even food from another restaurant just ask. Butlers brought jerk from ochi which is well worth having 👍 We ran out of cocktail requests for GARNET to produce at the peacock, and all the beach butlers are just awesome. Your never without a drink ever.. Due to there being space at the resort we were upgraded to a suite, which made the holiday even more special. There are so many special touches which is just the norm at this resort which stands head and shoulders above others. Treats in your room , baths run etc. If your butlers can make it happen it is just done. In trying to write a balanced review the only negative is that at some point you have to leave. There is a reason people return to this hotel, we are going to be one of those people. If i could give the place 6 stars I would
Royal Plantation Omar manager - awesome guy, authentic, approachable and truly adored by everyone that works at the resort along with guests, (over 68% repeaters!!) Monique - looked after our room, it was spotless, thank you! It was an older style room, authentic and charming. Bathrooms could definitely do with updating but it didn’t spoil our week at all Butlers Chase and Neil were awesome and kept me stocked up with gluten free pizza and goodies. They got me a birthday cake too and we enjoyed lobster Thermidor for lunch on our sun -loungers with champagne All food here was amazing and I absolutely loved the cosy vibe! Always sunbeds available on both beaches and we loved sitting on the terrace in the evening - will return for sure! Sashays in the Ocean bar went and got me a banana to make me a Hummingbird - that was really lovely of her. Shevon in French restaurant. Really attentive and Arthurnial and Vanya in the terrace Stacey Anne in the Terrace Gavin and Nickeisha at Jamaican night Tyrone, breakfast at the terrace Martin - Chef at the Terrace in the morning, was really helpful regarding gluten free and told me what I could eat. he then went out of his way to find me and told me he had GF wraps, pasta and Bagels if I wanted them. Megel on reception really friendly and helpful Sandals Ochi wasn’t for us, we ventured next door a couple of times to try different restaurants but quickly returned back to Plantation. If you want a week of complete chill, a fly and flop holiday, with attentive staff, then this is the place for you. The manager, Omar, is just the cherry on the top, he’s an absolute joy and makes everyone feel that they belong there.
This is the first time I have ever written a review. I had a hard time believing all of the amazing reviews of Royal Plantation but I admit, it was everything people said it is. By far one of the best vacations I have ever had. From the GMs Omar and Marvin to our butlers Ricky and Biggs to everyone else that works there, service is their number one priority and they excel. We had anything we wanted and more and the resort is beautiful. Yes, the rooms could use a refresh but that is such a minor thing when you look at the resort overall. We will be rebooking for next year and are looking forward to it!!
Sandals Royal Plantation is undeniably Sandals' hidden gem, tucked away in a serene corner that radiates tranquility and intimacy. Despite its peaceful ambiance, a mere three-minute shuttle ride whisks you away to Sandals Ochi, where you can immerse yourself in a more energetic atmosphere and explore a diverse array of culinary delights. What truly distinguishes Sandals Royal Plantation is its unparalleled service. Every member of the staff, from the general manager to those handling room service and maintenance, always welcomed us with warm smiles, ensuring that our needs were consistently met. The genuine hospitality makes us feel not just a guest, but a valued part of their family. Some honorable mentions include the Loyalty & Travel Team (Mahesh, Sequoia &Horatio); Chelcea from the EPIX photo shop, and our fantastic butlers and beach butlers. The personalized butler service—both personal (Omar & Duwainey) and beachside (Daniello, Romane & Trevado)—elevated our stay to extraordinary heights. These attentive professionals quickly learned out preferences, from your ideal cocktail to your favorite beach spot, ensuring we were pampered and indulged throughout our entire visit. These were the individuals we interacted with the most, but this is not an exhaustive list of everyone we met. We understand that these reviews are meant to recognize specific individuals, and we encourage you to do so. However, it is important for both the local team and Sandals corporate to acknowledge and support the entire SRP team for the exceptional level of service and attention they provide to every single guest. Culinary experiences at this boutique resort are exceptional, surpassing the offerings of many larger all-inclusive resorts. The discerning chef collaborates closely with your butler to fulfill any dietary requirements, crafting meals that tantalize the palate while ensuring your preferences are prioritized. Although Sandals Royal Plantation features only 74 elegantly appointed rooms, it encompasses four exquisite restaurants, a charming tea terrace, a small yet inviting pool adorned with hot tubs, and a pristine beach that gently slopes into the inviting Caribbean waters. Its intimate size fosters a sense of exclusivity, where the remarkable service more than compensates for the limited number of facilities. Plus, with unrestricted access to Ochi and Dunns River, you can experience the vibrancy of the larger resort while enjoying the comfort of a more tranquil retreat without the hustle and bustle of large crowds. While there is a part of us that wishes to keep this exquisite oasis a secret, the remarkable staff, luxurious experience, and the cherished memories we have created here deserve to be shared with others. We wholeheartedly encourage you to book a stay at Sandals Royal Plantation to experience firsthand what true luxury and dedicated service truly entail—trust us, you will be thanking us later. As part of our mission to explore every Sandals location, we can confidently say that Sandals Royal Plantation has secured a permanent top spot on our list, beckoning us to return time and again for more unforgettable moments. Bravo SRP and thank you all for an incredible, fun, relaxing and memorable vacation experience!
Biggest shout out to the staff and all who work here it was an amazing experience and we would most definitely return. The food is gorgeous. The report is well kept and exceptionally well looked after and rooms are cleaned to the highest standard. It has set the standard. Loved every moment and a special shout out to Lashaun front of house manager who went above and beyond. Best experience !
For over 10 years now we have been spending time at what feels like our very own private home away from home. This boutique, 70 room resort is the perfect getaway! While this resort is quiet and subdued, perfect for relaxation, Sandal's has hourly transportation to Sandal's Ochi right next door if you are in the mood for more energy and party atmosphere! Royal Plantation itself if in need of updating, but part of it's charm is truly the nostalgic decor. For us what makes the resort and the vacation is not the resort itself but the people of the resort that take care of us while we are there. We wanted to highlight a few of this people. The current General Manager Omar started early in 2024 and is doing a nice job. He is approachable, personable, and remembers every single guests name and greets you by name! Omar's righthand team member overseeing all departments and operations on resort is Marvin Boyd. He has been with Sandal's over 10 years and is a shining example of service! While we were there we had a couple special requests, that despite some obstacles, Marvin came through, with no hesitation! The head chef as well as Chef Vinroy did an exceptional job and took the time to make special lunches just because! This resort is an all butler resort. These folks take care of you during your stay. We have worked with Orayne the Butler on every stay at Royal Plantation, and he is exceptional! His partner Safiya is also amazing. On a previous trip we also had the opportunity to work with Carlos. We ran into him on this trip and he remembered us by name, despite us not working with him in over three years! This entire Butler team is amazing! The two Beach Butler's that deserve total credit for the food, drinks, energy, and service on the beach are Dantello and Trevardo. These two team members also remember guests from year to year, remembering drink preferences, etc! Very impressive when they have a new group of 140 guests every 7 days. Finally, the three bartenders at the Wobbly Peacock, Collin, Garnet, and last but definitely not least Junior. These gentlemen not only made exceptional cocktails, but they also took the time to interact with guests, showing a genuine interest in all patrons. This resort, and these PEOPLE are why we have been spending time at Sandal's for over 20 years, and at Royal Plantation for over 10 years. Thank you Royal Plantation Team!
From the moment we arrived at Sandals Royal Plantation, it was clear this resort is something truly special. What sets it apart isn’t just the beauty of the property or the serene, boutique-style atmosphere—it’s the exceptional customer service and the dedication of the staff. Every single team member we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel not only welcomed, but genuinely cared for. The attention to detail, warm smiles, and willingness to accommodate every request made our stay feel effortless and luxurious. The leadership at this resort deserves special recognition. Under the guidance of General Manager Omar and Marvin, the staff operates with such professionalism, passion, and heart that you can feel it in every interaction. Their leadership is evident in the way the team works seamlessly together, anticipating guest needs and ensuring every moment is memorable. Sandals Royal Plantation isn’t just a resort—it’s an experience of hospitality at its very best. If you’re looking for a place where the people truly make the difference, this is it. We can’t thank Omar, Marvin, and the entire staff enough for giving us such an unforgettable stay.
Another exceptional trip! Hard to imagine it could get better, but it did. Deletectable food! Caring staff - from our amazing butlers, Anthony and Robert, great Bartenders-Junior, Garnet & Kims(misspelled sorry) Vanya’s beautiful smiling face- Sherika, Stacey-Ann, Tiana and Orneila who made our dining lovely. Sooo many thanks to Chef Vinroy! Daniello - beach butler extraordinaire! Danianna at the spa pampered me again. A couple of last shout out to Kenmarnie- who made our entrance and exit safe- you went the extra mile. Also Michael our driver- Sequoia. Sooo looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
Welcome home 💚 We are returning guests and this will forever be our favorite place to stay. Omar the general manager is amazing! You will see him through out your stay and he will greet you by your name. Every single team member makes you feel special! They are the elite! Our butlers Neil and Chase made our week amazing! If you have never done the couples tropical paradise massage it is a must! We can’t wait to come back home!
The resort is small and intimate but the staff makes it grand. Omar Robinson(the general manager) knows everyone’s names and greets you by name each time he sees you. We had an amazing time and will go back again. Special shout out to Mr Bean, Sequoia and Horacio. Of course our butlers Andre and “the best looking butler” made sure our vacation stay received the right amount of pampering. Uncle Charlie made the best omelettes!
‘Welcome home’ in all its finery. We are returning guests, and after a wobbly start this was our best trip yet, no doubt linked to the excellent management and leadership team. Omar, Marvin, and Samantha, what a team, working tirelessly to ensure that our holiday was everything and more. Beautiful souls, beautiful food, we had the time of our life. The hotel continues to deliver, and is better than ever, peaceful, intimate and personal. The freshest of fruit and seafood daily. The stand out of the show is the ‘your wish is my command’ concept, feels as if anything (reasonable) is possible, and the entire staff team do all they can to ensure your holiday is wonderful. Anthony our butler was fantastic, his smile and joyful demeanour is a wonderful addition to a beautiful Caribbean day. Anthony is a credit to Sandals, fulfilling any promise he makes, professional, helpful, and takes the initiative, you don’t even realise you want a hot bubble bath until you get back to your room and it’s there (with beautiful flowers too). The spa and a massage from Shirley were delightful, our best massages to date (no easy task given we enjoy massages throughout our travels). Omar I cannot praise the GM enough, our expectations are high and Omar exceeded any expectations we have. He is present, visible and connected to the guest and their experience at all times. Where in the world does the GM go to the local supermarket to purchase a new hair comb for you because yours is lost, within hours of my hair comb being lost I gratefully received replacements, and Omar did not consider it resolved until I had exactly the right replacement. The team at sandals continue to do what they do best, they smile, laugh, sing, cook the finest and freshest food, deliver anything that you ask for, and thank God for their blessings, beautiful and humble souls.
From start to finish everything about this hotel was fantastic! The resort, the staff, the food, cleanliness, rooms, service, choice of drinks, facilities and location were all absolutely brilliant! The entire team of staff were always friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The butlers worked tirelessly to make our stay even more memorable! If you can find fault with this resort and the staff you're just nit picking and probably one of life's miserable people who moan at every opportunity! So don't do it!
Two weeks at Sandals Royal Plantation (SRP) and it’s been amazing. This place is definitely our favourite Sandals. It’s small, intimate, and the service is so personal. Gorgeous layout (if you don’t mind a few steps), amazing food, and easy access to Dunn’s River and Ochi. Plus, we met some incredible staff and guests who made the experience even better. Our butlers, Gladstone and Sherril, were great, sorted us out with all the things we needed and nothing seemed too much trouble (although we don’t ask for much!) Beach butlers Trevado and Daniello are amazing and have a second sense for exactly the drink you need without asking! The breakfast and lunch team of Stephnie, Stacey-Ann, Sherika and Vanya were lovely everyday. We had great service at the bar from Garnet and Junior, supported brilliantly by Tressell. And at our final meal at Le Papillon, our server Chevon was a ray of sunshine! Whilst SRP has a low key vibe, we had one of the best nights we’ve ever had in the Caribbean (and one of the worst mornings after!) Lots of dancing and singing with new friends, with GM Omar tearing up the dance floor all night. Will miss Omar and Marvin’s daily rounds with the boozy popsicles! We have not yet returned to a resort but in a first for us, we are booked to come back next year. Counting down the days already!
Our 3rd trip ‘home’ and it didn’t disappoint! So much to say about this beautiful resort that I don’t know where to start! The grounds, the accommodation, the staff - all are exceptional. We stayed in a royal monarch room and although we didn’t get the floor we requested we were happy with our room. All the rooms we’ve stayed in so far have been lovely. They have recently had a little facelift too which is nice but kept the traditional Caribbean style which we love about Royal Plantation. Our housekeepers kept our room beautifully clean and our bed was turn-downed every night. We had Alrick and Adrian aka Biggs again for butlers as requested and they were again fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. The staff is really what puts this property above and beyond, to mention a few - Sherika and Stephanie at breakfast who really looked after us also Vanya with her conversation and smile. The beach butler’s Daniello and Trevardo who made sure you always had a cool drink! Those mango Daiquiris were delicious! And the always smiling Garnet in the wobbly peacock who when they didn’t have any st Germain liqueur for a Hugo spritz he made me a delicious alternative drink which we named the Becci Spritz haha! It was sooo good! Also Junior and Tressel ( sp could be wrong! ) always looking after us. Another mention was the chef Leroy - he cooked the best steak down at The Grill one night, omg it was better than what we had in the French restaurant! It was lovely to see the fabulous GM Omar again, still bossing it as GM still remembering every guests name wow! Also Marvin and Wayne doing great jobs. Food was all pretty good, service a little slow at times in the French restaurant, maybe under staffed. But didn’t affect our enjoyment of the meal. I do think maybe a rotation each week on menus could be good as if staying for longer than a week menus can feel a bit limited. The same with the entertainment, I do think that this is one area that needs to be addressed at RP - it’s very limited and predictable. Yes I know you can go other to Ochi etc to the rabbit hole but RP is beautiful and honestly we would rather have better entertainment there than have to go to Ochi. The entertainment staff seems to have lost a bit of their sparkle and feels like they are going through the motions a little. We did the blue mountain biking and hiking trip which really enjoyed but it’s a long day and drive so just be prepared and we were also lucky enough to be there for a turtle release! A bucket list experience for sure ! We have rebooked for 2027 and I’m missing my morning mimosa and that beautiful view already! Oh talking of views my other moan why do the catamarans have to be moored up in front of the hotel?! It really ruins the view when sitting on the beach or dock and especially at sunset just a little gripe. We used club Kingston on both arrival and departure and it’s a must in my opinion. Transfers were smooth and pretty quick despite the distance to hotel.
Wonderful visit to Sandals RP. Made to feel welcome and at home the moment we stepped out of the transfer taxi. All the team from GM Omar and Customer Services Director Marvin to the lovely interns in the restaurant’s and working around the pool were committed to ensuring everyone had a truly memorable holiday. A huge thank you to everyone for a wonderful time. Marvin and Bebeto were once again outstanding and provided a service second to none. A special mention to Stephanie and Sherika and all the ladies in the Terrace who provided the perfect start to everyday. Also to Garnet and Tresell in the Wobbly Peacock who ensured our glades were never dry and mixed some devilish cocktails, the Martini night was one to remember, or so I’m told 😵💫😵💫 The food in all the Restaurants was top class and the service and atmosphere were superb, the speciality nights on the terrace were lovely and the evening entertainment was great. Sadly 😥, I cannot remember the names of the beach butlers, but they work so hard to keep everyone fed and watered and demonstrate amazing skill as the balance drinks and plates as they move around the resort. A huge thank you to everyone we cannot wait to return next year
It's not the building, views, or even the food that keep us coming back. We just completed our sixth stay here over the past 15 years and some of the same employees are still there. Getting to know the staff is truly the best part. The managers, Omar and Marvin, are running this place as if it was their own home. Always checking on guests by name, checking the food, and really caring about the experience. You will certainly find prettier rooms with fancy bathrooms all over the Caribbean, but you'll never find better hospitality and personalized service. If you want anything all, just ask. They'll do it! Special lunch? Unique drink? Just ask! They even provided coffee beans in my room so I could grind my own coffee. Those little touches make all the difference in the world.
It is rare that I’m moved enough to provide a written Review however our recent stay at the Sandals Royal plantation Resort prompted just that. The ‘Aha’ moment was present from the moment we entered the facility till the second we regrettably took our leave. The superlatives were far too many to mention so I’ll stick with the highlights. (as it’s hard to distinguish between highlights as the bar kept getting higher and higher). Beginning with the General Manager, Omar, then the Head of Customer Comfort, Marvin, our TWO Superstar Butlers, Marvin and Bebeato and countless wait staff, they all embodied Customer Service at an elite level. The service was easy and not forced and unrehearsed and contagious and effortless. The ‘Can do’ attitude was refreshing and special. Although you knew that you couldn’t have everything, you always got the impression they would die trying……………and sometimes the intent outweighs the outcome. We were thrilled with the intimate and quiet elegance, the attention to detail and the deliberate election of providing quality over quantity. The entire staff were exquisite and fostered a family atmosphere rather than that of employees. The thoughtfulness and friendliness was unmatched and makes it very easy to recommend this place to anyone who would ask. We were sad to have to leave but enjoy the notion of someday getting to return, We were both grateful and flabbergasted by the experience. and it made our twenty fifth Anniversary a most memorable occasion an we hope that we could be able to relive the feeling for any upcoming notable milestones. Thank You Royal Plantation from the Roberts.
We recently took our 15th anniversary trip to Jamaica to visit Sandals Royal Plantation and then Sandals Dunns River. For reference, we are 43 and 41 years old, and have been visiting Sandals since 2010 for our honeymoon. We are currently Diamond Level guests and have been every year (sometimes mulitple) except for 2020 (covid). Royal Plantation: we stayed for 3 days. What an experience! We've seen the resort from Ochi on our 6 previous trips, but only ever got to go there for a dinner one night. This time for this occasion, we decided to give it a try. What an impressive small resort! There were so few people you felt like everyone was there FOR YOU! Our first night at dinner, 3 hours off the plane, Omar the GM walked to our table to greet us and called us by name. Even if he "cheated" and saw it on a book somewhere, it was extremely impressive and we havent ever received this type of personal greet other than being taken to our rooms or at VIP lunches/dinners. Omar had a great personality, as well as a strong work ethic. Its clear his staff feed off his energy, they were phenomenal; friendly and very personable. The people make this resort what it is. I see why guests return here over and over again. Quiet, relaxing, and personable. Exactly what we were looking for in our 3 days. Night life was very calm, so if you want to have fun after dark? NO PROBLEM! Take the bus over to OCHI! First night we did just that. Walked into the manor house looking for our favorite person SHADINE who booked our very first return trip! She wasnt there as we were really late so we walked towards the piano and bar area (we found her the next day, and she was amazing as ever!). An employee was walking towards us and both of us stopped and looked at each other like the batman/robin meme. We knew each other, just couldnt place it. Then we figured it out, he was Jason in entertainment. THE SAME JASON that made my 5 year old sons day at Beaches OCHI in October 24! He was great with the kids, and since Beaches has closed he transferred to Sandals. What a great surprise, we were excited to see and talk to him. Met up every night for all the entertainment and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great guy, great work ethic, and a wonderful asset for Sandals. Food was phenomenal. There were only 3 dinner restaurants on property, but it worked great for our stay. We really enjoyed La Papillion for French cuisine. Of all our Sandals stays (20 total trips) this was the best creme brulee I had ever had. Shout out to the entire culinary team, they are a cut above the rest. The Jamaica night Buffet on our last night wasnt your average buffet. Lots of flat grills and custom cuisines were prepared right in front of you. Lets call it a gourmet buffet. Our butlers were Safiya and Orayne. Great for us, not overbearing and left us to ourselves unless we contacted them. Took care of us bringing food, decorating our room for our anniversary, and keeping our fridge and bar stocked. Two words, coconut lobster! Ask for it, its phenomenal. Rooms were perfect for our needs. Seems like they had converted the balcony into an in room area, which was great for adding space. Typical old school feel mahogany beds and furniture, but new paint brightened up the room. Large closet, usual amenities like fridge, coffee maker, etc. This is a vintage feel Sandals resort, and it fits the vibe of the property well. Room service was standard and a great add on as we ordered breakfast every day to arrive following our morning gym routine. West beach had activities every day, but we stayed on east beach the whole time. Quiet, easy going. Most we ever had with us was 5 other couples on the entire beach on one day. Most days we were the only ones until after 1PM. This beach is nicknamed "smokers beach" because smoking is allowed, but it was extremely rare and you rarely ever noticed. Easy tradeoff for our peace and quiet. 3 days was short, but perfect for Royal Plantation for us. As we were leaving to head to Sandals Dunns River, Omar personally bid us farewell. I made a joke to him, making sure he knew where the gym was on property. The guy had arms so big Im surprised the Jamaican government doesnt make him register them as weapons. Great stay, great experience. Id definitely do this resort again, likely as a split stay so I can enjoy 2 resorts in the same trip. I sincerely thank everyone we met during our stay and hope this review gets the mentioned team members the recognition they deserve.
Just came back from the royal plantation Jamaica this hotel was one of the best we have visited . Omar and all the staff were amazing we can’t single one out as they were all fantastic Would we go back most definitely. We would like to thank sandals for an amazing vacation And a massive thank you to all the staff at the royal plantation
We have been coming to this resort for over 10 years and it gets better every trip. Omar has added a new level of service as general manager. He knows everyone on the resort by name and is always walking around making us feel welcome and appreciated. We can't say enough how wonderful Gladstone and Sherrill are as our butlers. The beach butlers Romaine, Trevardo and Daniello remember our drink preferences year after year. I went scuba diving next door at Ochi and the dive masters took great care of me. Kemar, WInston and Dennis and all the dive crew are fabulous. I did a night dive that was spectacular. My husband golfed everyday and the staff over there are fantastic. Janoi at the front desk remembered us and made us feel welcome and appreciated. The level of service from housekeeping, restaurants, butler service, bars, and the water sports is excellent! Even if you don't ask for help, they ask what they can do for you. I feel so spoiled and special here. It's our home away from home.
