42 Apart-Hotel

I liked the interior of the Reception area and the general decorating of the place. It was in a good location with easy access accessible parking. Hairdryer was included.

The showerhead and bits on the shower were broken, there was definitely no polishing being done in the bathroom, there was a poo mark in the toilet. Very dirty silicon in the bathroom. The room itself was absolutely tiny, I’m not a big person but it felt very stuffy. There was not really much room to move around in. The fridge smelt horrible, there was just lots of things that needed to be done in that room to make it worth the money. We were given one bath towel and one hand towel burning a man there was two of us. Lots of paint chips off the wall and what could only be described as yoghurt smeared across multiple parts of the wall. The TV controller didn’t work properly. Very stuffy Room you couldn’t really call it down even with the fan as the fan was extremely dusty and didn’t really push the air out. The carpet was pre-stained and the room had a funny smell to it. There was one accessible plug socket, which I don’t feel is adequate. When I booked the picture was of a completely different style Room I went through them and didn’t see my room on there after I had already checked in so that felt like false advertisement. Stained towel.

Fan supplied in the room only worked on one speed and again was caked in dirt/dust. Unfortunately there was no other alternative in the area otherwise I would have refused to stay there. Waited half an hour to get someone to answer the door or the phone. Once I checked in I had to change room as j couldn’t breather with the heat in the room. The second room had slotted blinds and a floodlight from the Carpark shining in through, next to the back door with people coming and going all night. Couldn’t wait to get out of there

The room was spacious and the bed was very comfy, breakfasts came straight to the room and was delicious (only continental, but could choose whatever you wanted) Check in and out was easy

The room was not the cleanest and had cobwebs on the walls When you turned off the lights, the emergency light came on which lit the whole room green (photo was what we had all night!) The bathroom light worked on a sensor so kept turning off when on the toilet or in the shower

The staff and location are always good here. The bed was comfy and the smart TV is good.

Maintenance has really fallen badly here and I've stayed here quite a lot in the past. The bathroom door handle in my room was broken, and once I had to let myself in with a kitchen knife after both sides fell off. The kitchen extractor light bulb needed changing. Not a big deal but reflective of the place. The blinds were missing slats so the room was light early. The electrics kept going off and on because the key power holder was dodgy. The room was down to a single hanger and two sets of all crockery etc. The kitchen table top was loose. The smell of chip fat on the ground floor from the cafe is always an issue.

Location, was close by the theatre so not far to walk, roo. Was spacious, staff friendly.

Friendly staff and surprisingly fresh and tasty breakfast. Comfy bed and spacious room with great facilities with an amazing shower!

There was a electrical fault with the main lights BUT there was enough lamps to have a cosy evening.

I liked how close to the baths hall it was.

The bed was rock solid and had a plastic sheet over the mattress, which caused a crinkle everything my fiance and I moved. The heating wouldn't turn down and the room was sweltering. Toilet seat falling off. Fire alarm in another room went off at 4 30 am and didnt stop for 20 minutes. I'd rename this "42 falling apart" as the wall was covered in dents, the table was broken and so was the toilet seat

Hand soap & shower gel empty. Bed a good size but you could feel all the springs & pillows were so flat they were useless. Bathroom door didn't close & the motion sensor light in there only stayed on for a few seconds. The windows were very high & difficult to reach but all 3 were open on arrival. Had great difficulty opening the room door both from the outside & inside the room. Plus the internal room door got stuck & we had great difficulty re-opening it to access the bathroom. The door to the hotel is locked at 9pm & you need a member of staff to let you in. Also felt like this place is used by the local council to house the homeless. Wasn't an awful stay but not worth what we paid.

The staff were good and the breakfast was as expected and arrived on time.

I previously stayed at this hotel a few years ago shortly after it had been refurbished, but unfortunately it appears that very little has been maintained since then. The overall condition was poor, with dirty carpets, scuffed walls and broken blinds in the room. I was given a ground floor room at the rear of the property which was easily overlooked from the car park. With cars coming and going throughout the night, the broken blinds offered little privacy, meaning I didn’t feel comfortable getting changed in the main part of the room. The room was also located next to the back door, which was frequently used by guests going outside to smoke. Every time the door was opened, a bright security light came on which repeatedly disturbed the room during the night. There was also significant noise from other guests, including doors slamming and people shouting in the corridor late into the night. Overall, the stay was disappointing due to the poor upkeep of the room and the level of noise disturbance. I would not choose to stay here again.

No window in the room, just a skylight. Terrible location. Very noisy. Could also hear the tumble dryer right next door, until midnight and then again early in the morning at about 6am.

Room was filthy, bin overflowing, stains all over chairs, floor hadn’t been hoovered for what looked like a few days. Bathroom was also dirty, tap, trims, toilet, sink not clean. Bath coming away from the wall, never seen as much silicone trying to seal the gap before. Heating was very high and could not control in room. The hotel needs a full refurb from top to bottom Bed and pillows worn and grubby, will not stay at this hotel again.

Awful property probably the worst place we have ever stayed. We work and stay all over the country and this place is terrible shouldn’t even be on booking.com. It’s dirty, in need of a total renovation, smelt awful, didn’t feel safe at all.

Staff were friendly.

The room and the toilet were not clean. The duvet has some urine-like signs, and found that on the last day. The bed was a combination of two twins beds, so a gap in between made me sleep on just one small twin bed, instead of a king bed. The price is like for a 4 or even a 5 start hotel, but the service is not comparable to the price. I communicated the same to hotel management by email, but no reply received.

The stains and marks and writing over multiple walls. The shower door partially hanging (not completely attached, and did not shut). The disgusting build up of grime on the taps.

Not impressed with our room at all! It smelt bad as soon as we walked in, the shower door handle, bedside table and tv remote were all broken. Bedsheets were dirty, mugs in the kitchen hadn’t been cleaned, the bathroom was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned.

There was nothing to wash dishes, remote broke, no bath as advertised, broken freezer, no towels and poorly stocked for coffee/tea

It was warm and comfortable with a nice big bed and a good sized tv. The free parking outside was also good.

There were elements of the stay that I didn’t like but it would be wrong to characterise them as being “things I didn’t like about the property”. When I checked in it transpires that I should have been asked to complete a form choosing breakfast items which would have been delivered to my room. The member of staff forgot to do this , despite me being the only guest checking in at the time. The staff member was warm and friendly just not particularly efficient on that occasion. This meant that when I enquired “where I needed to go for breakfast” that the member of staff in duty then had to explain what had gone wrong. I was time limited and whilst he offered to make things right, I didn’t really have time for that. To be fair to the staff member, he did rustle me up a bag of cereal bars, fruit and biscuits. The room itself was of a good size and was clean and comfortable although I can’t understand why it is called “42 Apart-Hotel” as to me this implies that it has apartment like qualities which generally means a microwave and the ability to eat in the room. There was nothing like that and it is very much a standard hotel room with a bedroom and a private bathroom. Additionally it advertises itself as having a restaurant which it doesn’t. There is a franchised burger bar adjacent which can be used but it wasn’t clear from the hotel booking page that it wouldn’t be open on a Monday. The blinds may not be to everyone’s liking and I had to move from my original room as they were damaged and inadequate. I also find it annoying when there is no plus socket adjacent to or even near a tea/coffee tray. There was nothing bathroom whilst clean wasn’t “up to scratch”. There were two things wrong that I noticed.

Room heated till about 25 degrees, tiny window that opens. Smell of drainage. Door lock problematic Pretending there was no other room and reluctantly finding me a fan. When I at check asked if they knew of any place to eat, was told no don’t go around in this area. When in fact just down the road was a great restaurant Just couldn’t be bothered

Fridge in the room was absolutely disgusting and had a really bad smell of mould. Blinds broke when trying to close them and ended up repairing them myself. No milk in the room for a brew. Found the towel on the floor behind the bathroom door covered in some sort of human excrement. Booked breakfast at the time of booking only to be told in the morning (quite rudely by the man on reception) there was none for me as I had to request it the night before. I was not told this at the time of checking in. Absolutely disgusted in the whole stay and I have advised my staff to never book here again for any of our engineers

Easy to find Hotel , comfortable bed

Extremely dirty- carpet, damaged walls, shower with “nasty-colourful” silicone. We paid for Superior Double bed room unfortunately we got wet (????!!!! Why??) room with wavy floor + loose and protruding floorboards/planks in our small hallway! Supposedly noise proof walls but you will hear just everything = snoring + speaking etc We change the room as we had some kind of vomit & coffee spilled on the wall ( next to the bed..) but the other room haven’t been better- no light bulb, only one set of towels, extremely dirty carpet and walls

Although the bed and shower were fresh and clean, the rest of the hotel was either dirty or broken. toilet seat wasnt properly attached. TV remote repaired with duct tape. Homeless people congregating outside the property.

Looks modern in comparison to other hotels in the area, it was good space and location.

The room reeked of cigarettes. I pin pointed to the towel which my only guess is from the laundry place. Once that was taken out of the equation the room smelled better

Hairs in shower drain. Only 1 towel even though 2 people staying and paid for. Wallpaper coming off walls. Internal room door didn’t shut/ secure properly. Window blinds not fully closing and cord broken 2 Cornetto ice creams (melted) found in fridge which was off so fridge had awful smell

The room was far to hot it was a small room and so uncomfortable me and my partner had sweat dripping from us every time we was in the room. No aircon. We did appreciate the fan but was just blowing warm air

Shower to hot to get in, so I could not wash!!!! No fan, and the weather is so hot. But in the end the your kad git me all sorted 👍. The room should be fit for purpose from the start, though .

The reception and hallways were nice, the staff were pleasant.

When entering the room, we had difficulty opening the door with the turn key, which remained an issue throughout the state, when mentioning to the staff they said a few of the doors were a little difficult to open. Although the room was clean, the walls had visible marks on, the bathroom lino was completely damaged, through water I presume and it was all pulled up from the floor. I was surprised it was left like that. The bathroom was also smelling of smoke when we entered. The carpet in the main room looked dirty and also was loose at the edges, meaning you had to be careful on not tripping on it when going in and out of the room. The kettle where it was positioned had no plug on top, instead you had to plug it in underneath and the wire was too small so u had to put it somewhere else. There were no hangers for the wardrobe, no iron or iron board. The windows were very high up. It was very noisy at night so I had to close the windows at night, I had to stand on the chair, then onto the high window ledge to reach the window to close it. I attempted to use the fan instead as it was a warm night and it didn't work, so struggled to sleep well. Also there was so much loud banging on the doors at night, which also kept me awake. The second night, I had asked for a new fan, which also didn't work but then I realized it was the wall socket that wasn't working.

Room I had booked had broken blinds on the ground floor. Room was recently refurbished but not well maintained. Raised this to reception area and they moved me to a smaller room but did not refund the price difference. I did arrive late (after 10pm) so staff coverage was probably low.

Perfect location for us with good size car park.

The room was a bit hot, the fan wasn’t enough to keep it cool.

The hotel looks good on the website, however it needs a refresh. My room has only a vertical blind no curtains, no air conditioning & is very warm. The window overlooks an alley which has not been cleaned in a while beyond the alleyway is a carpark for a local business. I have to say how disappointed i am as it looks much better on the website.

Very well appointed, comfortable, recently refurbished property. Spacious room. Lots of nice touches, including provision of 'room service' breakfast.

Nice size rooms, lots of facilities in the room

We were there a few weeks earlier and on checkout told them the shower head kept falling from its adjustable rack. Also bedside table bulb had stopped working. We were back in the same room for the second visit and neither had been fixed. We were staying Friday to Monday and there was no housekeeping. When we checked in we were told there would be none on Saturday but when nothing was done on Sunday the girl at reception just said the manager decided to cancel them as the place wasn’t that busy. I told her that was a bit poor and she said if I had put out the make up room card it would have been done??? The same girl that morning delivered breakfast minus croissants/danishes and melon and said the oven was not working. (Apparently the gas goes out when there’s a wind! Didn’t notice any wind..). When they charge £12 for breakfast, just getting a bit of toast and jam is a bit steep.

Parking not ideal. Good luck if tour in room 114. Door doesnt work. No windows - no fan - no air con. I sat up instead of sleeping due to the heat in this room. Reception and ground floor STINKS of a unhygienic chippy. I oaid £95 to not sleep and smell something rancid.

Location is excellent for the theatres. Breakfast served to room was plentiful and fresh. Lady on check in was very good, I’d booked a twin room but it was a double when we got there, she sorted it out with no fuss. Plenty of bottled water provided.

I didn’t realise there was a security deposit required , the man next morning had to be promoted to give it us back. He was not interested in any feedback. He was quite rude. Cleaning was not up to standard - the tea tray was filthy as were the mugs. The floor boards in the hallway were loose, as was some boxing in around the toilet - all looked very shabby. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling The windows were open and so high there was no way to reach them. The water is scalding hot. No cold water came out of the taps for teeth cleaning etc.
