Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is charming and the location perfect for me. This is my second time staying there and would do so again.

We were on the ground floor which was perfect for us. Room was spacious and comfortable. A couch and desk with a chair and table lamp were in the room. There was a small refrigerator with complimentary bottled water and replenished daily. Breakfast daily was convenient for an additional daily fee. Housekeeping personnel were nice, efficient and accommodating. Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were supplied. Front desk staff were always very helpful and accommodating. Gave recommendations of places to eat for large groups (we had 8) and even offered to make reservations. Very reasonably priced. Perfect place to stay while in Cortona!

Bathroom was a decent size however the shower stall was very small. Even for me (I’m 5’2”). My arm kept bumping into the faucet handle and would either move it to make it hotter or colder or my elbow would shut it off. My husband who’s 6’ had much more difficulty than I.

Outstanding one night stay at this beautiful hotel right in the centre of Cortona. We were given a room upgrade and were also able to check in early. The hotel organised parking with valet service. So much appreciated given we had a lot of luggage. Our room was huge with wonderful period features. Breakfast was lovely and served on an outside terrace. Cannot rate this hotel highly enough for its charm and service . Do not hesitate to book.

La personne de la réception nous a conseillé deux restaurants qui se sont avérés excellents. La situation de l'hôtel en plein centre de Cortona était très appréciable.

Nous avons tout aimé dans ce superbe hôtel au centre de Cortona. La possibilité de garer sa voiture dans le garage de l’hôtel ( un grand merci au voiturier vraiment charmant), La chambre spacieuse et élégante (climatisée) avec une très belle vue sur la plaine et le lac Trasimene. Grande salle de bain bien équipée. Le petit déjeuner buffet parfait, que nous avons pris sur une charmante terrasse. La responsable du petit déjeuner est très gentille et attentionnée. Les jeunes femmes de la réception très sympathiques, et la présence permanente du propriétaire toujours à l’écoute des besoins des clients. Excellent rapport qualité prix.

A wonderful hotel in an excellent location right in the historic centre of Cortona. You can drive directly to the hotel, which is very convenient for luggage, although getting there takes you through a very narrow street! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and communication by email before our arrival was quick and efficient. The hotel itself is set in a beautiful historic medieval building, full of character and atmosphere. A great place to stay when visiting Cortona. Highly recommended!

La struttura: Bellissima dimora nobiliare che conserva intatto il fascino del passato.
 La colazione: Ottima e completa, con scelta tra dolce e salato, con l'attenzione speciale della ragazza che ci portava al tavolo caffè e latte caldi.
 La posizione: In pieno centro storico, comodissima per visitare Cortona a piedi.
 Lo staff: Il proprietario e la ragazza alla reception (sempre sorridente e disponibilissima) ci hanno riservato cure e attenzioni splendide. Servizi moto: Garage comodo per parcheggiare le moto in sicurezza e pass fornito per l'ingresso in ZTL.
 La camera: Spaziosa, comoda e dotata del giusto comfort.

The staff was especially helpful and thoughtful, allowing me to check in at 10, showing me to the room and making sure i could access the wireless. The manager recommended a taxi to the train as i was leaving on a Sunday, and arranged that for me. The complimentary water in the mini fridge was a treat, and the bathroom was generously large. Location was perfect to reach the Museos and the town market but on a side street away from the hubbub. Breakfast was delicious and generous with quality coffee both American and capuccino and a selection of cheeses and breads, fresh fruit, juices, and apricot and fig coffee cakes. The AC kicked in quickly to make the spacious room fully comfortable.

The location is excellent and close by to the main square. The atmosphere was good and the staff extremely helpful and efficient. The room was fine for a 16th Century building but I was worried about slipping when using the shower in the bath. The hotel was very clean and the noise level fine. The breakfast was OK but could do with some improvement.

Nice hotel but in need of maintenance. The aircon was adequate but shut off whenever you left the room as did the power charging any devices. Everything in the bathroom functioned but was very dated and cramped. If you have elbows a shower is challenging. The shutters on the windows don’t close. The door to the room was so ill fitting it made as well have been left open for all the sound deadening to the corridor it provided. All the common areas just looked sad and worn. Not in an antique way. Just worn out. Other than that the staff were excellent. The breakfast by Europe’s standards was excellent. Location also excellent. Great access to restaurants and the piazza but far enough to feel tranquil at night.

We had a 3 night stay at Hotel San Michele and it was all it promised. We had a warm welcome on arrival, it’s only steps away from the main piazzas with loads of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The hotel staff were friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast was lovely with a nice little courtyard to sit in and enjoy the fresh air. Our transfers and laundry were organised with ease. It’s an old hotel in an old town so some things were a little in need of maintenance but nothing that affected our stay. Everything works! It just adds character, you can imagine it in its former life as a Palazzo. The room was a decent size and very quiet. Air con worked- important during an Italian summer heatwave. Would have been nice if it could have been left in while out of the room to keep it cool but didn’t take too long.

Amazing stay, hotel was just lovely. Staff were very friendly, if travelling to Cortona, this place is a great choice for a stay!

Well located - close to a public carpark (but steep walk uphill), round the corner from the main square and close to most attractions. Pleasant staff.

We stayed for one week for our wedding. the Hotel styled in typical Tuscan style & is centrally located near the top of Via Guelfa which leads onto the Piazza Della Republica & Piazza Signorelli, a short 2 minute walk from the front door. The hotel provided parking at an extra cost of 30Euros per night. We stayed in room 218, which was beautiful, spacious, well appointed with a terrace Balcony with a lovely view. The only downside was that there was no stand up shower in the bathroom due to the sloping roof. All of the staff, from Reception, Breakfast staff & Housekeeping, hotel were welcoming, friendly, helpful & knowledgeable & all made our stay perfect & enjoyable. the breakfast was varied & substantial with a lovely outdoor covered courtyard for dining. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Cortona.

We stayed at Hotel San Michele in Cortona for one week for our wedding. The hotel was in an excellent town centre location. We booked & stayed in room 218 Suite Terraza, the view from the terrace was terrific, the room was spacious, comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, with; a fridge & refreshment making facilities, plenty of clothes storage space, seating & two tvs. All staff at the hotel. from reception, breakfast & housekeeping, were knowledgeable, friendly, approachable & helpful & made us feel welcome & were genuinely interested in us & not just as paying customers. The hotel was clean & well appointed. Car parking was available at an extra cost, however, this was not expensive & was essential due to the TLZ in the town & the fact that most other hotels did not have a car park facility.

Room 218 is one of the rooms in the hotel which does not have a walk in stand up shower due to to the design of the sloping ceiling bathroom & due to the age of the hotel,however, there was a telephone shower in the jacuzzi bath . However, this is not a criticism.

The hotel was excellently situated near the main square, in easy range of the bus stop to the railway station at Camucia Cortona tickets 1.30 euro. The air conditioning was excellent and the hotel had everything we needed including its own bar, our room was spotless and the breakfast was perfect. The staff were lovely, ask for a map, they gave us lots of local information.

We couldn’t have asked for more.

Position in town was great,once we'd climbed the hill. Glad we didn't try to negotiate driving , we parked in the free car park at the bottom. Complimentary water in the fridge was a nice touch

Sunk plug not working very well. No proper cups for tea and coffee just tiny little paper ones. Chairs not very comfortable . Not enough adapters for plugs .

I cannot say enough good things about my experience. This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in with the most kind, welcoming, accommodating staff. The front desk employees were wonderful. The room was very comfortable and charming, the lobby and common spaces in the hotel were exquisite, and the complimentary breakfast was exceptional and filling. The hotel is directly in town, right off the main square. It is very clean and reasonably priced (especially with the breakfast included). Will definitely be back in the future

The location is fantastic. We loved the buffet breakfast each morning in the charming dining room. The staff were so helpful, courteous and friendly. Our room had a great view of the bell tower and out further across the valley. It had a large great room were you sit with friends in the evening for a chat which was a bonus. All round it’s a really great choice for a hotel in Cortona which you won’t regret.

This was our first time in Cortona. The hotel is perfectly situated. The room was fantastic and the staff incredible. The breakfast was also very very tasty.

Hotel San Michele is a lovely hotel in a perfect location located near the center of town. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the tub/shower setup. We stayed in an upper room (with a balcony with a great view). There is a bathtub, with a long cord for a shower. But the bathtub is not enclosed and the ceiling is low, so it is very difficult to take a shower without getting the room wet. Other than that, everything was great.

The staff were truly excellent and very pleasant to work with. One of 5 wa a little serious and didnt seem as with it as all the others. The room itself was great. We took advantage of their local parking; expensive but really very convenient. They made up an excellent list of local restaurants and mad bookings for us twice.

Capisco che l'edificio sia vecchio, dato che si trova nel centro della città, ma anche la camera era estremamente datata. Il bagno, la doccia e le altre strutture sembravano non essere stati rinnovati da molti anni. Il letto era in condizioni pessime: le molle erano praticamente tutte rovinate e il materasso era deformato e molto scomodo. Mi sono svegliato con il mal di schiena e non sono riuscito a dormire bene durante il soggiorno. Inoltre, l'isolamento acustico era quasi inesistente: si sentivano chiaramente i rumori provenienti dalle stanze vicine, rendendo difficile riposare. Anche il servizio alla reception è stato deludente. Durante il check-in, l'addetto ha interrotto la procedura per rispondere a una telefonata e ci ha lasciati ad aspettare per parecchio tempo senza alcuna spiegazione o scusa. Ho trovato questo comportamento poco professionale e poco rispettoso nei confronti degli ospiti. L'unica nota positiva è stata la colazione, che era buona e ben assortita. Nel complesso, è stata una delle peggiori esperienze che abbia avuto in una struttura ricettiva e non la consiglierei.

Great location next to the main square. Although it was a bit of a hike up a steep road from the public parking outside the town walls. The staff were fantastic.

The shower cubicle was quite small and restrictive. For a 4 star hotel the toiletries could have been better. Similarly they should provide a good coffee machine rather than packet coffee and a kettle with paper cups! Door key card entry was a challenge at times.

Location is fabulous, just off Cortona’s main square. Staff very friendly, and eager to help.

Location great and very central, but the main square can be surprisingly lively in the evenings so if you’re noise sensitive, you may want to request a rear facing room.

Property is not as depicted in pictures . We have been calling it the old creepy castle. Thank goodness it was just one night . We think because we only stayed one night we did not get the better rooms.

The property was well located. The access by car to drop off luggage and to take a trip outside of Cortona was ideal as we were allowed to enter the city to pick up and drop off people in our party. The staff was above and beyond helpful in every way.

It was a bit of a faded beauty but the staff especially at the front desk and the breakfast servers we above and beyond!

From the moment I arrived, the staff were ready to be of assistance. After checking in I was shown to my room and details were explained. The beautiful furnishings and tapestries reflected the historic background of the building. The room was spacious and clean, with a generous offering of still and sparkling water in the fridge. Breakfast was plentiful and well presented and served.

Der Service beim einchecken war mißerabel. Der Koffer musste von mir eine extrem steile Treppe hinaufgetragen werden. Es gab nur eine Handdusche unter der Dachschraege um zu duschen. Extrem lästig bei einem Preis von 320 Euro die Nacht. Und dann eine verdreckte Terrasse!

We were greeted immediately as we pulled up to the hotel. All staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, large and stocked with everything to meet your needs including water! Breakfast was abundant and met dietary needs. Location of the hotel was perfect for everything-restaurants, sites and shopping. We had a wonderful stay!

Bed not very comfortable

This hotel was lovely. Central, comfortable, clean, with a super-friendly staff and delicious breakfast in a beautiful old building. My only complaint was a lack of hot water in the shower two of the four mornings I stayed at the hotel. Aware of the problem, the staff quickly had the problem fixed.

This is a nice hotel near the center of town. A big potential advantage is the ability to drive directly to the hotel front door, although the property does charge for car parking. The building shows its older charm, with some large graceful sitting areas. The breakfast was fantastic. My room was larger than I had expected and had a couple windows, with some minor views just above the surrounding rooftops.

Booking.com showed free parking, which is not the case. However, there is street parking if you're willing to walk downhill a 2-3 blocks, which is what I ended up doing.

Our stay in Cortona at the San Michele Hotel was fabulous. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating; the rooms were historical and cozy; and the complimentary breakfasts were feasts. We felt like “locals” by the time we left a week later.

We stayed in a suite with a fabulous view and I do mean fabulous! We had a bathtub with a hand held shower nozzle. The room was great and they helped get our luggage to our room. The staff was courteous and gave us great recommendations on places to eat dinner.

Se proprio devo fare un piccolo appunto, non mi è piaciuto l'atteggiamento della responsabile nella sala colazioni, l'ho trovata indisponente nei modi. Con mia figlia eravamo incuriosite nell'osservare la sala più piccola, adiacente alla centralissima, ma lei ci ha riprese...l'ho trovata di pessimo gusto. Data la sua posizione avrebbe potuto soggiungere, magari, con qualche dettaglio in più sul luogo... Alla fine, ha compreso di avere esagerato e si è "scusata" dicendo: "che avevano avuto dei momenti impegnativi un attimo prima"... scusa poco in linea, dovendo servire delle colazioni in un hotel a 4 stelle sold out!!
