Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Location was excellent & we had a view of the sea. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was very enjoyable, lovely dining room.
Bedroom decor was a little tired but overall good value for money.
Really enjoyed our stay, a lovely seaview, spacious and comfortable room with great views. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Great breakfast Fantastic location for public transport
All was perfect
Excellent situation, lovely premier seaview room, friendly, efficient staff and excellent food choices. Well situated for getting to electric tram, steam trains and bus station with a bus stop outside the hotel.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff pleasant. Food ok, cleanliness was good
Rooms old , beds to small as a standard. shower room to small, bad lighting this was room 2 Room 1 floors uneven, bed to small , noise from pub across the road horrendous, noise stopped @ 2am , complained @ 1am , night porter said that was normal for that room and he couldn’t help
My partner and I stayed for a 4 night break. Our room overlooked the front, it was huge with a king size bed and also a sitting area with a sofa and coffee table looking out over the sea. The shower room was modern and clean and every day the staff cleaned it beautifully. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a highlight, the choice and the quality was superb and it filled us up until the evening. The location was perfect for us. It's near the ferry terminal and also near shops, restaurants and pubs. It was quite lively in the area on Friday night but you expect that in a town/city and it wasn't an issue for us. We'd certainly recommend The Chesterhouse and will stay again.
The only thing that could have made our stay better would have been a different mattress. It was a king / twin room so obviously the beds were pushed together. Usually when we have stayed in rooms like this the twin mattresses are replaced with a kingside mattress but this this time is was 2 separate mattresses so it was uncomfortable where they joined. It was also a very soft mattress but that's personal preference.
Good value comfortable accommodation with good buffet breakfast included

Very clean and tidy staff were very helpful and friendly breakfast was lovely
The staff were helpful and friendly the breakfast was lovely
Location. Breakfast.
Family room faced a wall..
fantastic breakfast nothing to much trouble for the staff
Location was great, short walk into town. Staff very friendly. Breakfast, good choice for a buffet style.
Little noisy from the cleaning staff which was really early in the morning, only on one morning though.
Great location and friendly staff. I enjoyed chatting with the front desk staff about my travels. Cozy room and bathroom. As is usual in British hotels, we were supplied with an electric kettle and teas with coffee. Plenty of towels and extra pillows.
Not much to not like. The hotel itself is sort of a maze, but that’s not really their fault. It’s just an old Victorian building. Narrow stair cases and lifts that support one at a time. I don’t mind these, but mobility impaired folks may find this a difficult hotel to stay in.
Location was excellent and staff were helpful
Our room was at the back and a bit tired
Great location, staff were lovely breakfast was good
Struggled with the room, the mattress was not great, housekeeping moved us the next day to another room which was fine the first night but very loud the following night. Manager moved us to a sea view room for one night which was much better.
Location and staff were lovely
The rooms were a bit dated
The Chesterhouse was near to the Ferry Port, and also very close to the sea. Also the hotel was close to the bus stops, very close to the shops.
Our room was slightly small.
fantastic
the vent ouside the room from kitchen made a lot pf noise and did not stop until around elleven pclock at night
Location was fantastic right on front comfy beds buffet style breakfast Night manager was a lovely bloke had a good chat over a beer All syaff very friendly
Room we was given was very basic 2 single beds with a tiny side window that opened a crack, curtains hanging down just held up by wire (netcurtain style wire) Shower was super hot ok for me only just (wife) hubby had to get bath as temp on shower wouldnt go down. Needs abit of tlc in places
Nádherný výhled na moře. Vynikající jídlo. Milý, pozorný a ochotný personál. Čistý a útulný hotelový pokoj.
Brilliant location, clean comfy room, friendly staff and delicious breakfast
Great location close to all amenities. Pleasant staff.
Absolutely loved the sea view room! The room was very spacious with spectacular views! The staff were friendly and helpful, and no request seemed too much bother including when I asked for a late checkout to accommodate a zoom meeting I had. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hotel just had a nice feel about it! I would absolutely recommend and stay again.
Nothing!
Gunstig gelegen. Grote kamer, uitzicht. Je moet wel aan de voorkant zitten, met zeezicht!
Excellent location on the promenade. Breakfast was really good (cooked not continental) and staff lovely and helpful. Good shower. Lots of plus including near the mirror. Lots of pillows.
Room 212...exceptionally loud vent/extractor outside going all night long. Bed was not very comfortable - an old / cheap mattress.
Staff were excellent, good fun, property was clean and good breakfast and options. Really nice room, and quiet!
Loved the location, lovely hotel... loved the buffet breakfast... very hearty. Bus from airport stop close to hotel on the promenade, town centre at walking distance.
I stayed on a Saturday night! Was quiet noisy outside... needed earplugs to slp.
Everything was fine &staff Very helpful &. polite.thanks.
A very small item, the breakfast is great, BUT your bacon is very fatty, either trim the rashers or buy a better bacon. But all good.
The location is excellent, right on the promenade and in a central location - about a 10-minute walk to the ferry terminal. The staff were helpful at all times - in my case asking for more tea/coffee for the room and early breakfast due to early ferry. The breakfast was very good, with great options - cold and cooked.
I think I got one of the unfurbished rooms and although it was OK, it didn't have that complete comfort aspect. I would advise to please ditch the shower curtain - as the shower is small, it's impossible for it not to stick to you, so result is an uncomfortable shower. I had a room on a side street with partial view of the sea, but as it was opposite 'the busiest pub on the Isle of Man' - or something to that effect, it would have been good to have net curtains in order to be able to keep the natural light (without having to pull the curtains). TV is a bit far from the bed - bigger TV or change position would be a good idea.
The location was brilliant if you were coming over by ferry.it was 5 to 10 minutes walk from the from the ferry terminal. We only had the breakfast and it was self service which i liked. The restaurant staff were lovely and brilliant at their jobs. There was a lady staff member I don't know her name (but she wore a head scarf I think she may have been the matradee) she was very welcoming and always greeted us.Her and her staff are a credit to your hotel. The room was very clean and up to date.
The bed was a little too soft for me.(but everyone is different)and the shower although it was very clean and had a very good water power to it was a little on the small side.I think some people who were on the larger side would struggle.
Good location for central Douglas
Noise from music close by especially at the weekend. No view from our room.
A greatstay
Excellent victorian style of the hotel
Lovely big room with plenty of space to relax. Beds very comfortable Great locations for everything in Douglas. Lovely breakfast.
Hotel has lots of coach parties so could be very busy in dining room and reception if you didn't time it right.

Nothing
Friendly and professional staff.
Nothing.
Excellent location right on the sea front, with motorcycle parking available out side the front door. Room was on the top floor but there was a lift so no issue. Room was large, clean and comfortable. (Cleaned every day) Breakfast was included, good selection and decent quality. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
No view from the windows but not an issue for us..
Staff were excellent, very helpful and always there if we needed anything.
Overall cost was a little on the expensive side, but would not put me off booking again.
Our second visit to the Chesterhouse and the hotel once again delivered. The hotel is perfectly located on the promenade and as a foot passenger on the ferry from Heysham, just a short walk from the ferry terminal. We booked one of the refurbished sea view rooms which was both wonderfully appointed and a brilliant sized room. The breakfast is buffet style and the food was fresh and plentiful. We arrived around 06:30am in the morning from the overnight ferry and we were lucky enough to get early access to our room, which was a bonus. The reception area is particularly comfortable with a small bar offering drinks at a fair price. The staff were fantastic throughout our stay.
As the hotel is made up of a number of hotels knocked through into one hotel, five doors on the corridor from our bedroom to the stairs was a little irritating.
Excellent staff, nice room, superb location, close to ferry and town centre, on the sea front.
The reception staff were very helpful
Breakfast wasn’t great
Conveniently located facing the sea. Got a refurbished room so was nice. Breakfast was good with good spread of cooked items, cereal and tea/coffee choices. Could improve on pastry/bread selection.
The main light in our room was flashing and bulb needs replacing - reported it in the evening and requested for replacement but no staff available to change until next morning.
Breakfast was good
Room was very small and at the back noise from jacks bar at 3am
God frokost og god beliggenhet
Selve bygningen hadde veldig mange dører. Heisen var veldig sen og hadde dårlig kapasitet.
Meals, Lift available, Good Shower, Nice Friendly Staff
Back Room Position, Noisy at night time
Staff were excellent, very helpful and polite. Location was brilliant, very close to city centre, right on the seafront.
Room was a bit hot.
Location ideal
Nothing
everything about this hotel was excellent…room, food, staff, cleanliness… all first class
nothing really
Very central
Old, bed mattress was shocking
Spacious, clean rooms with excellent breakfast.
Mooie locatie
Matrassen zijn volgens mij aan vervanging toe.
Handy from the ferry
Room was very basic not worthy of £113 per night.
Good breakfast and very friendly and efficient staff
People smoking on the entrance steps.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. The room was clean and big enough for 2 adults and 2 children, aged 9 and 13.
Very minor issues.... The radiator in the bathroom wouldn't turn off and we were there in +20°C. There were 4 of us staying in the room but they only left 2 bath towels, we had to ask reception for 2 more.
Great location, central to shops, pubs, restaurants.
The room directions were confusing to start with, but we found it.
The location was central, perfect for the office, the conference venue and for lovely morning walks along the bay in the rising sun. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk.
The hotel bar had a limited variety of drinks, but this was not an issue as I was on a working trip not on holiday. The room was a little small, but again I was only there for sleeping not on a holiday.
The staff, the food, the location, the view, the room.
Very small lift.
Nice top floor room with sea view. Room dated, but still very nice. Excellent full buffet breakfast, both continental and serve yourself full english in a very nice restaurant with very attentive staff. 9/10
Water was pumped to bathroom with un-even pressure at times.
Handy for the Ferry terminal, excellent staff and a hearty breakfast
Na
The hotel is very well located for most destinations around Douglas.
The hotel is very dated and in desperate need of investment to bring it out of the 1970s.
The hotel is in a great location on the promenade, close to the sea front, town, bus stops and train station. The breakfast was very good and staff friendly.
We stayed in room 312, a very small double room with a broken 'catch' on the door lock. The bed was uncomfortable. The frosted windows opened out onto a shared back courtyard, which contained 2 extremely noisy extractor fans. These fans fired up early in the evening and continued until late evening. The bathroom was very small. The walk-in shower only had a shower curtain, which couldn't stop the water from pouring out onto the floor. The shower head sprayed hot water followed by cold water in a continuous cycle. Stark comparison to the photos on booking.com. A very disappointing 2 night stay.
Revamped seaview rooms are excellent. Spacious. Excellent views. Good options in the room. With the bluetooth speaker built in as well.
Beds are not the greatest. Old spring coils.
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds.
Most of the breakfast was nice, especially the sausages, but the bacon lacked colour, the teacups were very small and I would've liked a croissant option.
nothing
room smelled when i entered i thought maybe it hadnt een used for some time opened the windows til i couldn't stand the noise, had a shower, product had all been opened previously, made a drink went to put t bag in the bin it was full to the top with used take out food containers i was too tired to go down and complain lift was tiny and shaky, corridors were narrow hard to get through with a backpack, generally noisy most of the night, staff uninterested when i went to check out, would never go there again or recommend it. take it off your list it will blight your reputation
Nice reception . Good selection for breakfast. Comfortable room. Nice quiet room on 3rd floor but my friend who came at the same time had the noisiest room opposite the night club
Good location, friendly staff, good size room, good breakfast
Nothing
Great location
Staff not very Helpful
Very conveniently located on the promenade and very close to the ferry terminal
Narrow corridors Some noise from nearby nightclub in the early hours
It was central to everything staff were ok
We was given 2 rooms which werent the updated ones you could tell from the minute you walk in. Staining on carpets chunks missing out the wall beds rock hard my room was quite tiny and I felt uncomfortable in it. When booking this hotel the rooms that were shown on the advertisement where the premium rooms. I definitely wouldn't stay again. Nor me my partner or children hardly slept the beds where so uncomfortable.
Close to amenities and lovely sea view
Very small lift and corridors
Staff lovely
Room was to bysmall , and to many steps
Excellent Breakfast.
The view from the hotel dining room
The buffet style cooked breakfast was cold The night club across the road playing loud music until 3am each night. When I complained about the handle on a fire door being loose there solution was to take the handle off and wedge the door wide open
Only got 3Stars but it's 4Star accommodation.
No bottled water in the room.
Great location. Sea view. Good sized room
Breakfast was disappointing. Tadtelesd
Close to the ocean terminal
Breakfast amazing, staff lovely, very attentive , view from room beautiful
Just a little tired looking inroom and stairways, a bit more attention to housekeeping
The position of the hotel was good.
The hallways seemed a bit narrow, but manageable.
Location good , staff really helpful, room to a good standard
Nothing
Fantastic location
Needs a fridge in the room.
Great location, good breakfast and very nice staff

Excellent location. There is 24/7 staff, a lift, a double size bed in the single room, although the bed itself was uncomfortable and perhaps needs a new mattress. Full hot breakfast. The room was very quiet.
The window opens just a crack and is opaque. I would rather a clear window even if it looks out on to an alley.
Location is central to most attractions. It’s clean, the staff are awesome & friendly. The food is very tasty & good value for money.
A minor complaint, but there’s a nightclub of sorts at the rear of the property and the music can be heard in the room. Our view was looking out towards a whitewashed wall. Again another minor issue as we only used the room to sleep. Another issue that’s out of the hotels control is noisy fellow guests. Seemed like we had a herd of elephants in room 310 above ours.
Good room great breakfast. Staff lovely and in the right part of town for us.
I'll give the staff 5 stars, they were friendly and courteous. The location was spectacular 😍 The staff at the breakfast area were also helpful and friendly.
However, the bedside tables in the room were dusty and there was a lot of dirt under the breakfast trolleys, which was a bit disappointing because it's the dining area and must be kept spic and span.
Good choice, friendly staff
Kept getting lost, needs better signage. Noisy floorboards. Could hear the TV in next room!

Location Breakfast ok
Small bedroom, other guests on bus tours given priority. Parking a struggle.
central location
small lift and small en-suite everything else was fantastic
Clean and welcoming hotel right on the front at Douglas. It was a lot more than we were expecting to pay but it was during TT week so I am not surprised or complaining. Had grandchildren with us and they loved it too.
Nice friendly
Everything, the hotel was spotlessly clean , great location, great food and the staff are brilliant… warm & friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them
Nothing , everything was perfect
Location great
Noise from seagulls and very hot top floor room so couldn't sleep
My amazingly spacious bedroom with lounge area and phenomenal sea views. The bar prices were good. The staff were very pleasant. The location and addition of a lift were perfect.
Nothing.
Location. Close to local amenities
Noisy and tight
Staff were very friendly and accommodating
