Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The staff were friendly but not enough of them. No one on reception during the day.
The shower did not work properly and they could not fix it.
Location was perfect 5 minute walk from ferry terminal. Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly. Beds were comfy and lift was available. Hairdryer towels and toiletries in room and coffee tea facilities in every room.
Rooms quite basic would need armchair or sofa. Also accommodation would benefit from having a residents tv lounge not just a bar. Back bedrooms very noisy on friday and saturday nights due to pub at back. Unfortunately we had no TV in room as the remote was missing.
Location
View was of sea but top floor limited
A large room with an annexe and spectacular views. Adequate furniture. Comfortable bed. Real coffee maker.
Dodgy plumbing, some decor issues.
Location, elevator (not always a given in old buildings), breakfast (good choice of hot and cold and the best poached egg i've ever had), kettle in room, Freeview Play HD TV and streaming platforms, friendly staff, luggage storage for early arrival/late departure
Shower wasn't as hot as could be but warm enough, nearby bars noisy late at night at the weekend so bring ear plugs. That's about it
The staff were very good. The position was good, very close to the ferry and shops. Room was large and the shower was great.
Don't go there on a Saturday, there was a 'rave' or something similar close by which was extremely noisy till 2pm. The corridor carpet was badly stained.
Location
It needed some modernisation.
Die Lage direkt an der Promenade
Die Installationen benötigen ein wenig Liebe
Large room, clean. Great breakfast Really attentive helpful staff
Ran out of mushrooms last breakfast. V noisy outside building site opposite our room and some anti social behaviour, obvs hotel not in control of this. Parking challenging, again not hotel responsibility
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptional in helping anyway they could and extremely polite. One of our party was gluten and dairy free and they catered for this very well. One of our rooms was a king suite on the front, which gave us great views of the bay.
Can't think of anything they could improve on in the actual hotel.
Size and front facing room
Parts of hotel looking tired
The location, close to transport hubs. Good breakfast and cleanliness.
The rooms could do with better furniture and a suitcase stand.
The location was excellent for us, and the view across the bay was superb. There was a weatherspoons right by the hotel so handy for food and drink.
The bathroom needed updating. It was looking worn.
Near shops, sea and port.
View over a wall
Exceptional customer service!
Excellent management and outstanding resolution We stayed for four nights and unfortunately experienced ongoing issues with low water pressure and air locks, followed by no hot water on our final day. We reported everything to Vinus, the manager, and she handled the situation exceptionally well. She listened, took our concerns seriously and provided a 50% refund on both rooms, as well as complimentary breakfast for all four of us. Problems can happen in any hotel, but what truly makes a difference is how they are handled. Vinus went above and beyond to resolve the situation fairly and professionally. Her customer service and genuine effort to put things right deserve special recognition. Thank you, Vinus, for turning a disappointing problem into a very positive experience.
Plenty space in the rooms Staff were first class very helpful. Great location,
Could be a bit noisy at the weekend but didn’t bother us too much
Another great stay...
All good
I really enjoyed the excellent breakfast, welcomed and looked after by a lovely young lady who`s name I now cant remember , sorry. A very nice dining room with a sea view and an excellent choice of food and drink. The room was kept nice during day, it was a very large room with sea view, loved it. The lift was a bonus for an old person with a dodgy knee.
Nothing in particular.
Location is excellent. Staff were excellent. Staff went above and beyond. Bed comfortable, breakfast was great.
A tad noisy Saturday night due to a pub nearby. But probably not noticeable on some of the other rooms.
We could walk to the property from the ferry terminal. Very nearby are shops, bus stops, restaurants, and the seafront - excellent location with Nespresso coffee machine, hair dryers and dressing gowns provided in the room.
Our room was at the back and outside the windows is an alley by Wetherspoons pub. It was very noisy with barrels clanging, lorries, people shouting etc. Better with windows closed but if it’s hot out, stay at the front with nice sea views!
Location
The noise and the shower wasn’t really hot.
Great location, staff very helpful
Topp service
personnel aimable.
propreté insuffisante. reste de nourriture sur le canapé à notre arrivée.... isolation nulle .une fenêtre ne fermait pas , l'isolation était assurée par un rouleau de scotch.....
Lots of good places to eat around the hotel
Very noisy outside at night as we needed to keep the window open as the room was hot due to the good weather
Location and Pleasant staff
Needs some modernising . Lift is tiny .
Location was great.
Bathroom was average. Had a Faulty Towers moment where the water stopped for 5 minutes.
Note much
No cooked breakfast without paying for it Douglas is famous for it
Great location
No aircon
Breakfast was great
The location was perfect and room was beautiful.
Nothing
sinceramente nada.
Excellent location, large really clean room. Lovely staff who were all very friendly and helpful.
Hotel had been lovely and quiet. Until Thursday evening when loud music from Wetherspoons was upsetting. Nothing at all to do with hotel, just unfortunate to be so close to bar.
Very friendly and welcoming staff who quickly sorted out any issues which I raised. Convenient location. Comfortably furnished. Good breakfast.
Issues with a safe which did not work and the need for a light on the desk in my room, but these were quickly sorted by the staff.
Great location but dated hotels
Too many corridor and very dirty and dated windows
Location and staff
Property needs revamp
The hotel was clean and very friendly staff and central location. A good breakfast and a bar on site.
Being with my mum who had mobility issues, which I’d highlighted on the booking in advance of our stay - and a family room. There was a lift but where our room 304 was situated also steps, so different levels ( she did trip) so made us anxious. Also no walk in shower, so had to assist her. Obviously, this won’t affect people without disabilities. The only other issue was it was very noisy on the Saturday evening ( until 2am in the morning m) so trouble sleeping, our room was at the back of the hotel. I appreciate this is beyond the hotel’s remit, but another couple commented at breakfast regarding this. The local Wetherspoon’s is at the back / side of the hotel, handy for food / 🧑⚕️ mos but not noise into the early hours.
Good property fabulous staff
When got here been a scam on my account via bookings, con 2 rooms booked but I only booked one different e mail and different card , hotel fab but could get through to bookings.com
Spacious room and bathroom
Absence of good sound proofing
Good location, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.
being on the top floor.
Lovely hotel right on the sea front, well maintained and clean, the staff were brilliant
I cannot think of anything I would change.
The Location, The Breakfast, The size of the room.
The boiler broke and there was no hot water for 1 of the days of the stay so we couldnt shower. The smart tv in our room would not connect to thier wifi for the apps i.e youtube as the router signal was too far away...i had to mobile hotspot to get anything play. The water pressure was a trickle for a shower The bread was frozen on 1 of the mornings. The Hotel has said they are going to refund 20%.
Not much
No hot water at all during a two day stay. Weatherspoons down the road was very noisy until very late into the next morning. Reception staff have said they will refund my stay. I shall await the repayment
Location
Hard bed
Excellent breakfast. No problem changing our room when there was a plumbing problem in our first room.
Nothing.
Bed and pillows were comfortable. Room was a good size, clean and had a clean and adequate en suite with toiletries and towels. Hair conditioner would have been welcome as that was the one thing I forgot to bring. Breakfast was good with adequate choices on the buffet.
We didn’t get any sleep on both nights due to noise from the next door bar into the early hours and noise from the alley below our windows at back of bar. One of our windows was broken and wouldn’t close. Noise from neighbouring construction site also started very early. The people in the room above us made a lot of noise walking about during the night. The floors are very squeaky.
Bang central location and lovely views of rhe Promenade and Sea. Bed was comfy and it had a good shower. Rooms are large, sparsely furnished but nice. Nespresso coffee machine in the room, was a nice addition.
The receptionist insisting, on check in, we hadn't paid for the rooms. Showed him the receipts, the confirms and he kept saying over and over we haven't been able to take the payment from Booking.com. Told him that wasn't our problem, we've paid for the 3 rooms more than 4mths ago.For you to take it up with Booking.com.com. Ive proved to you we've paid. After 10minutes of the same conversation, I said "I'd speak to management tomorrow", got the keys, got changed rapidly to meet our clients. When we got back downstairs "Its OK, it's all sorted" No other explanation.
Superb Location , big room 👌
Had requested for early check in which was agreed to also but when we arrived well past 3 pm (which was official check in time ), we found the allotted room was not cleaned at all ,left over food was scattered.,..beds were not done up . But the reception lady was smart enough to immediately change the allotted room and that room was ok.
Location is superb, short walk from the Sea Terminal, handy for bus stops & close to the City centre. Check in was fast & friendly, we were in room 302,a sea front room, great view, clean & comfortable, could have done with a dressing table though, breakfast was excellent & all staff were so friendly & helpful.
Having to leave!
The location is excellent with all the shops close by
Location Breakfasts were good.
Lack of continuous parking. Lack of water pressure of the shower at times. Grubby carpets on the stairs and landings. Lack of security, my safe wasn’t working and was replaced with a portable unit which was as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Someone managed to get into my room with a key at 1.30 in the morning while I was undressed in bed, which is totally unacceptable. The room was boiling hot and unable to sleep properly. Noise from the side street. Expensive bar prices. The facility seems to be very tired and unloved and most likely a reflection of the owners however the staff were helpful and gave good service.
Lovely big room with great view. Comfy bed.
Tired and dated furniture, no power in the shower whatsoever.
Fantastic location, spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast and the staff were very helpful and helpful welcoming
An excellent place to stay
The location was great and the reception, bar and dining room were nicely decorated and clean
The bedroom was dated, shower was cold, bed very very soft and it was really very noisy - very loud music until early hours!!
Breakfast good.
Noise, location next to wetherspoons unfortunate
قريب جداً من صالة الفيري 🛳️ و كذلك قريب من الداون تاون تعامل الموظفين رائع و الافطار جيد يوجد اصنصير خيار مناسب جداً لقضاء ليلة او ليلتين
Great staff, (Ugud? was exceptional) fantastic location. We were concerned about finding parking but even though Douglas was busy we didn't have any problems. Large room with comfortable bed, everything supplied including still and sparkling water and a fan to help with the heat. We would stay again but only if we could book a front room.
The noise, our room was at the back of the property - backing onto Wetherspoons and a nightclub! I went to reception in the early hours of Sunday morning to ask if we could move rooms the following day but unfortunately the hotel was full. I booked the hotel prior to the feedback informing about the noise problem. The alley below our window stores the beer kegs from Wetherspoons and they also empty their glass bottles there. The bins are emptied around 5am and the street sweeper comes through shortly afterwards! With World Cup also on at the same time, we had a very disturbed few nights.
Location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of Douglas, close to shops and the ferry terminal. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable, it was perfect for our needs. The staff were great - helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast - plenty of options to choose from.
Nothing in particular comes to mind.
Clean
Nothing
Had to ask for clean towels. Toiletries were not replenished
We enjoyed our stay in Opul boutique. The room (202) had an amazing sea view. It's a very large room. The hotel is perfectly located in the main city and near the ferry. The cleaning was very good.
Amenities are basic (e.g no tissues available). The TV had an old cable which was open (dangerous).
Recommended great location buffet breakfast great location helpful staff
Overall great hotel had a lovely time going back next year
Nothing
Inflexibility
Breakfast choice was good. Nicely refurbished area, staff were friendly. Room was a good size, great view
Room is a bit dated, not really’boutique’. The shower wasn’t great. Water pressure based and would slow or stop completely mid shower.
Location was okay plenty of places to eat and drink nearby
Next door to a Wetherspoons so was extremely noisy especially on Saturday night when England match had played having sea view room didn’t get much sleep also didn’t like the breakfast eggs !! Overdone !!
Helpful staff and great location
Building and facilities are a bit dated, especially the sash windows which let in a lot of noise
It was close to everything staff lovely
Nothing apart from our view of building work but we didn’t mention anything as we was to busy enjoying ourselves
The room was extremely spacious and had beautiful sea views. Staff were pleasant and helpful but often multi tasking - reception and serving breakfast or serving in bar so not always available. Rika - receptionist- kindly fund a secure place to park our bikes.
It was very noisy. A busy Weatherspoons next door, a noisy main road in front and a huge construction site at the side! Non of which we were pre warned about. The standard of housekeeping was poor. The reception area (doorway and lift lobby) were not cleaned daily and small pieces of litter remained for several days. The landing on the second floor had unpleasant looking marks and again the area was not vacuumed during our stay. Our room and en suite looked clean overall but there was a layer of dust on the shelf of the bedside unit. On the last morning when I checked that there was nothing left under the bed, I found a chocolate wrapper and piece of plastic razor that were not ours! General maintenance and attention to detail was lacking. e.g. the bathroom window (a heavy sash) will not stay open and had to be wedged open with a toilet roll. Extractor fan doesn’t work. Heated towel rail brackets were broken. Window handle on middle sash window in sitting area loose. There is nowhere to hang a hand towel near the basin. A hook or rail could be fitted to the basin unit. A hairdryer is provided but there is no electric socket near a mirror
Great hotel. Excellent location. Great value
The superb breakfast, the promenade position and our huge bedroom
It's not a criticism of the Hotel, but there is a Weather spoons behind that is noisy and seemed to open very late.
Location was excellent. They operate with skeleton staff, but they were very helpful at the front desk and breakfast which was good.
We had cold water only in the shower. I complained 3 times but it was not resolved. They offered to change room when it was too late. Also , towels were not replaced despite leaving them on the sink area. Finally , free bottled water was not replenished during our stay.
Excellent location Large bedroom
Loud noisy building site opposite our room Only one bedside table that was very old and badly stained Cups that didn’t match and were put on side plates instead of saucers so they slid everywhere causing spills
The view from our room was superb, we loved watching the world go by on the promenade.
The house keeping was a little hit and miss. Things like coffee capsules and bottles of soaps, body lotion were not replaced every day, The breakfast was generally OK, veggie sausages were available on reqest. A little variety in the breakfast items would have been good as it was the same every day.
Shower in room 406, worked intermitently, which was very frustrating.
It's in a great part of town. Super close to a bunch of shops and bars, it was a really convenient place to stay in Douglas. The breakfast was also really good, and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. The room we were in was massive, and had a beautiful sunny alcove area that was great for morning coffee/tea and reading.
It's very close to a bunch of nightlife, so if you go to bed early with the windows open, you can expect to be woken up between midnight and 2 AM. With the windows shut, it is no problem for sleeping, other than the room can get a little stuffy. The building is old, but the bed was comfortable and the shower was pleasant.
Everything was perfect great location great staff beautiful breakfast would defo stay again
The breakfast was good and the location to the town centre is very good.
This is not a boutique hotel. Our family room had a small walk through bedroom into a larger one. There were damp patches all over the walls. Both bedrooms were extremely basic consisting of old dated cheap future probably left over from the previous hotel. The main bedroom was very sparse. The bathroom needed modernising. Their was black mould in the grouting around the bath which contained the shower and on the bottom of the shower screen. Tiles were coming away from the wall. Neither of us had a shower during our stay because it looked totally uninviting, scruffy and because of the black mould it looked unclean. It backed onto Wetherapoons, which was very noisy. If you were paying around £70 for this room for 1 night it would be adequate. But when they charge £191 its a disgrace. There was nothing about it that warranted the term "boutique ". I brought it to the receptionists attention but there was nothing he could do. The manger Venus could not be contacted on either day that I asked to speak to her. When we left I asked the receptionist to ask her to ring me. That has not happened.
Friendly staff and good location
No negative comment
The hotel was in a good location and clean. The rooms were quite basic but clean. All of the staff were very polite and helpful.
We would have liked to have a fridge in our room.
Die Größe und die Lage des Zimmers waren super
Frühstück war eher mittelmäßig
location good
if book this place don't book Fridays and Saturdays because can't go sleep until 2pm from wetherspoons in Douglas next door
The location was great, right on the promenade near the ferry port.Staff were very helpful and friendly.Breakfast was good with lots of choice.Comfortable bed
If you stay on a Fri or Sat do NOT have room 207 or any room at the back of the hotel. There is a Wetherspoons next door which has a late music licence and even though it usually takes a bomb to wake me i had no sleep on Friday night between 11 and 3! due to karaoke and thudding music.I complained at breakfast and finally got moved to a side room for our last night.Staff told us the hotel were doing their best to get licence revoked but reading the reviews a lot of them complained about the noise. Both rooms we stayed in were completely different. Both ok but a bit dated and carpets on landing were stained.Hotel needs a bit of renovation to be competitive with other hotels in Douglas
Brilliant location.
Weather on one day.
Great location. Lovely aspect to the room. Complementary full English breakfast was a great touch
The room was large and comfortable and the staff were brilliant.
The location is central and convenient for shops, the ferry, buses, restaurants etc. BUT, it's next to the island's sole Wetherspoons. Closing time on Fridays and Saturdays is 2.00AM and if like me you need quiet in order to get to sleep you won't sleep. The heavy beat of music plus shouting and general rowdiness in the street went on until after 2.00AM. The provision of ear plugs in the room was a warning. We stayed a whole week and Sunday to Thursday nights were not a problem, but if your stay includes Friday or Saturday, be warned, or insist on a room away from the Regent Street side, which might be better.
Location great
The ongoing work next door
I enjoyed the self serve buffet breakfast, and the specially cooked to order eggs. Room 401 had a great view from the 4th floor of the beach, promenade and shoreline. It was well worth paying a little extra for. The staff were attentive and polite. The hotel is a short walking distance from the Manx ferry terminal, and is well placed to access a variety of public and heritage transport to all parts of the island. There is plenty of things to see and do on the island and the people are genuinely friendly and helpful.
We can not think of anything that we did not like.
All staff were excellent and helped make the stay a good one.
Clean, modern with a relaxing feel and comfy bed.
Our room didn't have USB charging points so a plug adaptor is required
Everything, only a bit noisy in the early morning but that was the pub next door
1. The breakfast was good. The staff asked what kind of eggs I would like, and my fried eggs were prepared and served very quickly. 2. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They lent us a lighter and some clear tape when we needed them in an emergency.
1. The facilities are a bit outdated, and the bed was softer than I am used to. However, it was still acceptable overall. 2. It was a little noisy outside at night.
Standard, spacious room
Mould in the room
Booked a superior room with sea views and it certainly had the most fabulous views across the bay. A good English breakfast. Perfect location for the town, buses etc.
Could’ve done with another mirror near to any of the many plug sockets. Building work going on on the opposite corner which we were not pre-warned about and work starts at 6am!! Fortunately it didn’t spoil our enjoyment but if you’re a light sleeper I’d advise wearing earplugs. Probably a good 3 star hotel rather than 4 star but we would happily stay here again.
