Currently here at the hotel. It is beyond hot in Sicily this year (98 yesterday) This hotel’s air conditioner itself is worth the 5 star review. Seriously. Our room is large. Three sets of windows overlooking the street side and the square side. Gorgeous! The room is classy. THe staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet is plentiful!! The staff all remember our names. Bathroom amenities were plentiful - everything you forgot or left at the last hotel (shaving cream) Nice little touches that put a hotel over the top for me.

Our stay was amazing! We were here for a stop on our honeymoon. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, they made us feel very welcomed. The hotel location is perfect, in the heart of Ortigia and walkable to all the island has to offer. At night we were able to open our balcony doors and listen to the nearby live music from street performers. The room was very clean, updated, and stocked with all the essentials and some extras. The hotel bar and restaurant, Amuni, had delicious drinks and friendly servers as well. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a centrally located hotel. We hope to come back and visit again one day!

The property itself was beautiful and was in a great central location.

There was an awful smell in our room coming from the air conditioning. We asked to move rooms and had the exact same issue in the next room. We had to leave the windows open to try and get rid of the smell but it was extremely overpowering and given the red heat alert meant we found the room extraordinarily hot.

Palazzo Artemide was one of the best places we’ve been fortunate enough to stay in. It is centrally located in the Centro storico making all sights easily accessible on foot. A massive shout out to all the wonderfully helpful staff at reception, room service & in the restaurant

What a gorgeous hotel! We absolutely loved our stay at the Palazzo Artimede. All the staff were excellent - particularly Andres on reception - his recommendations were spot on and very much appreciated. The valet service was also very much appreciated - again, great staff. The rooms are elegant, clean, bright and airy, and the public rooms and restaurant are equally beautiful. The food and drinks were excellent and the staff in the restaurant were very thoughtful - remembering our names each time. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend to any traveller looking for a special stay in Ortigia.

Everything! The central location. The room was lovely and we had a great balcony overlooking the piazza. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff were extremely helpful to me and my older mother. She loved the hotel so much that when she returns to Ortigia it is the only place she will stay.

The hotel is beautiful but something about their AC system makes no sense. The first room the AC didn’t work we were on the 4th floor. They were kind enough to give us a room just to sleep in until we could speak to the general manager. The next day they changed our room to one on the 2nd floor and yes the AC works but it literally blows 24/7 it will shut off for 20 seconds and come back on - it’s actually mind numbing. Aside from that the hotel is beautiful, the staff if wonderful and the location amazing.

My family of seven only spent 2 days at this magnificent hotel and they made us feel like we were at home. Everyone was superb! The atmosphere was friendly and clean, and always smelled incredible! The rooms were beautiful and very well kept. Such a luxurious hotel in a beautiful quaint city. We felt like we were part of the town. Even at 11pm the town was vibrant, safe and family friendly! The hotel even helped us book our boat tour with the company Siraku! Another wonderful experience with our skipper DARIO! My only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer! If we are ever fortunate enough to come back to Ortigia this will definitely be our stay of choice.

We had a wonderful stay at VRetreats Palazzo Artemide. The location is perfect right in the center of Ortigia and within walking distance of the Duomo restaurants the waterfront and all the main sights. The building is beautiful and full of historic character while still feeling comfortable and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was clean quiet and comfortable with a great bed and excellent air conditioning which was especially appreciated during the Sicilian summer heat. The breakfast had a good selection and was a great way to start the day. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Syracuse and Ortigia.

WOW. Every member of staff we met were so helpful., but special mention for the two on reception who were fantastic and Giuseppe and Laura in the restaurant. The housekeeper was also helpful and room serviced beautifully. The hotel is lovely and in fabulous position, outdoor terrace fab. and quite romantic in the evenings. Please try the lobster linguine, delicious. Breakfast was amazing but the most pleasing memory for me the are the staff, the setting and the room. Only there for 3 nights but already looking to rebook - can’t wait!!!

The valet parking service was fantastic, and the entire team went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Every staff member I met was genuinely warm, professional, and eager to help. The only small challenge was finding the hotel by car. I didn’t realise that Via Roma is a pedestrian street that guests are permitted to drive down to access the hotel, so I spent a little time navigating before arriving. Once I knew that, everything was easy. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of beautiful Ortigia, with everything within walking distance. The hotel itself is elegant, comfortable, and a wonderful base for exploring Syracuse. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff for making my stay so memorable. I will definitely be back. I missed one day due to the Etna volcano, wish I had had more time to see around. The hotel was very cleaned and neat! The historical center is a masterpiece! I want to thank Andres. He helped me to get to the hotel even when my flight was cancelled. I did not get to see him, but I must highlight his professionalism for being interested in us. Go and check by yourselves. The island is a beauty.

Experienced traveler and hotel/restaurant critic. Staying at Palazzo Artemide felt like being in a season of "The White Lotus" (for a fraction of the cost). Palazzo Artemide (a historic hotel, recently updated by VRetreats and featured in the Michelin Guide) easily lives up to its title of "a Member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World" (SLH). The attention to detail and elegance of this hotel truly blew me away. Feel free to read all the way through (for an in-depth review) or scroll to the bottom for my main points. Atmosphere: Palazzo Artemide fully understands and executes the vibe of "understated luxury," offering an elegant, tranquil, and authentic Sicilian experience. Historic details were preserved throughout the property, while modern design elements were thoughtfully incorporated to create a stay that felt both timeless and luxurious. Stepping into Palazzo Artemide felt like stepping into Sicilian history, with its beautiful stonework, historic arches, and timeless architectural details. Rooms: Rooms were very spacious, elegant (in accordance with the rest of the hotel), and SPOTLESS, which matters most to me (as a bit of a germaphobe). The beds were incredibly comfortable, with quality linens and even a pillow menu offered. Premium toiletries were offered, including facial cleansing milk and beard cream. Location: Palazzo Artemide sits in the heart of Ortigia, right along Via Roma, a charming stone street filled with authentic Sicilian shops, bakeries, and art galleries. It is merely steps away from the Ionian Sea and the island's most treasured historical landmarks, including the Duomo di Siracusa and the Temple of Athena. And once inside the hotel, no noise from the outside could be heard, allowing for a peaceful slumber. The location couldn't be better. Service: Our luxurious experience began prior to walking through the doors (thanks to the staff). Fabrizio warmly greeted us outside and immediately helped us with our bags. At check-in, fruit-infused water was waiting for us, and we received a complimentary room upgrade. Throughout our stay, every staff member went above and beyond (with enthusiasm) to make us feel welcome at all times. We were treated with genuine kindness and respect. Food: Palazzo Artemide offers a premium dining experience in its restaurant, Amunì. There is no better way to start the day than breakfast at Amunì, which offers a serene, resort-like experience, overlooking the peaceful, sun-kissed Piazza Minerva. As I sipped my espresso and watched the shop owners on Via Rome prepare for the day, I was reminded of the tranquility that a slow morning brings. I had the opportunity to try both the à la carte breakfast menu and the breakfast buffet. Both are an excellent option. If you choose to go with an à la carte breakfast, I recommend the "Uovo alla Benedict" (Benedict Fried Egg) and the nocciola-filled crepe. And the breakfast buffet offered a DELICIOUS nocciola-filled croissant (which tends to run out quickly, due to its popularity). The only thing I wish to note is that the savory items offered at the buffet were a bit lackluster. I'd love to see some more variety in the future. Main Points: - Historic Sicilian Charm Meets Understated Luxury - Ideally Located in the Heart of Ortigia - Spacious, Spotless, Elegant Rooms with Premium Toiletries and Thoughtful Details - Warm Hospitality from an Exceptional Team I always say, "it's in the details." And DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS. Palazzo Artemide excels at the details. From the pillow menu in the room to the "Buon Giorno" written on our cappuccinos at breakfast, every element felt intentional. Palazzo Artemide clearly understands what it means to give guests a "five-star experience," which is amplified by the hotel's ideal location. If you're staying in Ortigia, definitely check it out. A truly wonderful hotel, beautifully renovated with exceptional taste and a genuinely magical atmosphere. The staff were highly professional, warm, and welcoming throughout our stay, making us feel completely at home. The location is simply incredible and adds even more charm to the whole experience. I cannot wait to return to Syracuse and enjoy the same unforgettable experience again. Whenever I am back in Sicily, I will certainly spend at least a couple of nights at this hotel.

Fantastic stay at this property, where they learn your name and greet you by it whenever meeting. Ortygia is the Syracuse place to be, and this hotel is perfectly situated on beautiful Via Roma which walks you to top attractions. A beautiful little plaza near the cathedral hosts this hotel's bar and restaurant. Terrificly friendly and helpful reception and breakfast crew. Lovely historic rooms and overall building. If I return to Syracuse, I'm staying here.

Palazzo Artemide was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff warmly greeted us and assisted with luggage and reservations for dinner. The rooms exceeded our expectations. Everything felt and smelled fresh and inviting. The beds were extremely comfortable, there were no additional outside noises, which was extremely refreshing with the previous couple of hotels in Italy. Can’t say enough wonderful things about our experiences here in Sicily and especially the Palazzo Artemide.

This hotel is perfectly situated around the corner from the Cathederal and a few blocks from the water. It is an intimate hotel of 40 rooms. Superb service from the front desk to the servers at the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was good, with fruit, pastry, and egg stations. We had a suite that was very spacious and beautifully appointed. My 2 suggestions would be to have an extra garbage bin in the room and a shelf in the shower where you can put your razor etc.

Absolutely delightful! Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of perfect. The location couldn’t be more central and just a minute’s walk from Piazza Duomo, the vibrant shopping streets, fantastic restaurants, and even close to the sea. What truly set this place apart, though, was the staff. They were amazing, warm, helpful, informative, and incredibly accommodating. Their genuine hospitality really enhanced our experience. We stayed in one of the suites and were pleasantly surprised with beautiful flowers and a thoughtful, personalized gesture for our 2-year-old, which made us feel truly special. We simply loved everything about our stay and have already decided that this will be our go-to family place whenever we return to Syracuse. Highly recommended!

A stay at Palazzo Artimede is a wonderful experience. The staff is the best I have ever encountered in any hotel throughout the world. I travel often and extensively and they are by far the very best. The hotel is well located and the rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. The beds and climate control are perfect. Thee is even a "pillow menu" for enhanced rest.

Beautiful hotel, ideally placed, close to a number of key visitor attractions, though challenging to reach by car). We received a warm & friendly welcome and our Deluxe room was spacious and airy. The hotel was immaculately clean and water was left in the room every day by the maid. Breakfast was amazing with bacon & eggs, ham & cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit & a selection of delicious croissants and cakes. All of the staff were approachable, friendly and attentive, particularly Andrés & Gloria on Reception. We had a fabulous stay here and would highly recommend the Hotel. Our experience was faultless.

Set in a vast, grand, (almost) car-free piazza in the centre of Ortigia, alongside the Duomo and flanked by stunning Baroque architecture, the Palazzo Artemide is a real find. We stayed for a week and never tired of our breathtaking surroundings whenever we had drinks and meals in the gorgeous shaded outdoor restaurant. Everywhere you want to go on this beautiful and historic island (the oldest part of Syracuse) is within a few minutes’ walk. There is so much packed into such a small area, with plenty to see and experience - including a cut-throat shave delivered expertly by 90-year-old Corrado, a delightful gentleman (with a remarkably steady hand!) who has welcomed clients to his own barber shop opposite the hotel for several decades. The Front Desk organised everything we wanted to do, even at short notice. They gave us spot-on recommendations for an eclectic variety of places to eat, so we enjoyed the “Three Sisters” real Sicilian family food experience just as much as the four-hour tasting menu at a gastronomic fine-dining restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff, who were without exception warm, friendly, helpful and attentive while never being overbearing. We tried to learn their names; but if we say a special thank-you to Luisa, Roberto, Gloria, Andrés, Giuseppe, Luigi and Gabriele, it simply means that we would love to mention all the other lovely staff personally but haven’t managed to remember all their names! Congratulations to the management, too, for running an impeccable service in this wonderful haven of understated luxury. We would come back in a heartbeat!

This is a lovely hotel on a pedestrian friendly street in Ortigia. Staff are uniformly helpful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large. The housekeeper kept the room in great shape; there was an outdoor sitting area near our room which we had to ourselves most of the time.

Breakfast was a disappointment. The coffee shocked us - it tasted like coffee you would get in the US. My wife had an excellent al la carte omlet but the quality of the breads, fruit and pastries on the buffet were only so-so.

Overall, this hotel made our stay in Syracuse much more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Ortigia or Syracuse, especially if you want a convenient location with excellent service and a clean, comfortable room.

This is a beautiful, 40-room property a block off of the Duomo square and in the heart of Ortigia with easy access to all the sites and very attentive service. We had a lovely room and only wish we could have stayed longer! We loved sitting outside for drinks, and had an excellent dinner - try the veal. :)

It was all wonderful - lovely room, fantastic location, wonderful staff, all perfect, and then on check-out, we were presented with an extra bill of 5% of the total for "service/staff tips", and with other guests and staff around us, felt forced to pay like it was some kind of protection racket. Please pay your staff properly rather than giving guests and unexpected "discretionary" bill of over €100 at the end of their stay.

A terrific location, metres from the Duomo. Beautiful, spacious rooms, warm and personable staff who remembered us throughout our stay. And great breakfasts!

Our stay at Palazzo Artemide was great! All the staff gave excellent service - the ones we met and those behind the scenes. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional. A special mention goes to Louisa and the breakfast team, who greeted us cheerily every morning and were first class! The hotel itself is elegant, spotless and well-maintained and extremely well located. If you’re looking for one of the best places to stay in Ortigia, then look no further. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. It is first-class.

This hotel the best! Favorite of 7 hotels we stayed in over 3 weeks. Location is ideal, staff is great, really top notch. The Jr. Suite was quiet - no street noise, with a beautiful large bedroom, comfortable bed and pillows, separate desk, bathroom spacious, good shower, and ample space for toiletries, and separate living room a big plus. Nice place to sit and room to store luggage so bedroom not cluttered. Checked all the boxes re conveniences: outlets in all places needed (each side of bed for night reading), and in bathroom, TV worked well. Was able to stream Netflix. Amazingly quite room - facing the main tourist street of Ortygia. Excellent location. Service was excellent. Bathroom ventilation was a problem. Power plugs by beds were inadequate. Breakfast eggs were terrible, although the rest of breakfast was good if overpriced.

In a fantastic location, this recent hotel was well equipped and the bar and restaurant were also right on the walking street next to the Duomo. It helped taking advantage of the old city. We were with our whole family of 10 with 5 rooms and every thing went fine benefiting from a very kind staff.

Great location, we were able to walk to all the sites on Ortiga island. Staff was very kind and attentive. Room was super clean and a good size. Breakfast options were nice.

If renting a car and driving on own, getting to the hotel could be challenging. Don't follow Google Maps, follow instructions from hotel to come via Villa Roma street. This involves driving through a pedestrian shopping area (which is allowed to access this hotel only).

Location was excellent, staff friendly and helpful making our stay here extremely enjoyable. Our “housekeeper” Valentina did an outstanding job keeping our room immaculate.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Palazzo Artemide. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay there. The hotel is located right next to the Duomo di San Lucia. Th architecture of the surrounding buildings is Neoclassical and Baroque - all very impressive. The hotel has a full-service restaurant and bar. The hotel is well presented, the room was clean and the air conditioning worked. I cannot comment on the food as we always eat out. The staff were pleasant helpful and effective. What irritated me was a proposal on our departure bill for a 5% charge to go to the staff. The answer was no. Staff should not have to compete or kow tow to guests in the expectation of receiving what is effectively a tip. Excellence should be standard. Pay the staff a decent wage. Tipping is a nasty American (USA) disease.

A really lovely stay with delightful staff and super environment. In THE BEST location to explore Ortigia and see the sights. We arrived on the wrong day and the manager was so helpful resolving my mistake. A great place!

The hotel and staff were great. The room and bathroom were large and very comfortable. The staff went out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. We enjoyed using the patios throughout the building and on the public square. Love the hotel. We will return
