Waterford Viking Hotel

This property was easy to find and had a manned 24 hr desk. There was lots of parking around back and it was free. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Showers were a decent size.

There was a loud hum from what sounded like air handlers across the hall from our room that we could clearly hear all the time. We let the front desk know and they told us they would have their maintenance folks look into it but nothing changed during our 2 day stay. We got used to it

We didn't have breakfast as it was extra and we were already paying over 150 euro for a room for one night to attend a funeral. The bed was super comfy and the room was a really good size. The shower was great too.

The bar/restaurant is very bright and not very cosy for eating or having a drink.

Horribly uncomfortable beds and super hot temperature in the room. Asked for another room and was denied. Staff gave us two room fans and another comforter to pad the bed- it didn’t help-I wanted to check out after 1 day but because we booked through booking.com they would not offer a refund due to “how we booked.” Couldn’t open the curtains as we were right into the parking lot with flood lights into the room.

Quite a way from the town. Could use the car but traffic busy and parking difficult. Got taxis to and from the hotel.

A very clean hotel. The staff were respectful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and it was possible to request other items such as poached eggs at breakfast. Plenty of hot water and a powerful shower. Plenty of car parking although during our stay quite a few civil engineering vehicles on site.

For me the mattress was uncomfortable.

We loved the hotel, area lovley and quiet, staff so nice friendly and professional doing their job, a lovley happy vibe throughout hotel. Food was fabelous hotel lovley and warm and clean

The only think we missed was an area to sit out in the grounds we are not smokers but would have loved to have had opportunity to sit out amongst flowers or shrubbery as the weather was lovley

Room ~ contemporary decor, practical & functional room & bathroom. Great sized shower. Breakfast ~ great selection of continental & hot cooked food. Fruit, bread plus hot & cold drink choices. Staff ~ very welcoming and pleasant staff in all areas of hotel. Location ~ perfect location for travel throughout county

Check in was quick and friendly, food was excellent in the bar and staff were helpful.

Room 201 was located right beside the double doors leading to the stairs and lifts, a few clumsy guests banged the doors against the wall and would feel like someone had kicked the door. Breakfast was OK, beans were unfortunately cold at 08.30am but everything else was passable. Oh and guest WiFi was very poor.

Amazing decor, very thoughtful bedroom design and nicest shower I've ever had. Bar area was spacious and although we arrived after 9pm and kitchen was closed the chef made us sandwiches, great service. Easy parking and lots of options for breakfast incl full fry and fresh tropical fruit and local 'blaa' rolls. Receptionist was very kind.

Hotel was well located. About 5 minutes from city & easy to get to Tramore & Dunmore East. It is not a scenic location but very accessible. Good parking available Staff were incredibly friendly & helpful. Nothing was any bother. Food was excellent. We ate there 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast was also lovely.

The room was great. Comfortable beds, good size and bathroom was spotless. Smart TV was a nice touch. We had our Netflix on. Very warm but there was a fan in the room.

The food wasn't great. Breakfast was just ok, typical buffet. Cooked meats were warm at best and not great quality. Cheap, bland and the bacon was like leather. We had dinner there the first night and the steak wasn't good. Not seasoned and not cooked well. Frozen chips, pepper sauce no flavour. My daughter liked the chicken goujons.

Very nice and cosy hotel with a welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent—very tasty, with a great variety of choices.

A couple of small things could be improved: there was no bottled water in the room, and the kettle, with only two cups, was hidden away in the wardrobe.

Sehr große Hotelanlage, die insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Aber ein großer Teil der Zimmer ist renoviert und dem üblichen Standard in dieser Kategorie entsprechend modernisiert und ausgestattet. Also insgesamt gut und alles vorhanden, was man hier erwartet, wie z.B. der obligatorische Wasserkocher mit Instantkaffee und Teebeuteln. Schönes Bad.

The room was large and nicely decorated. And quite after 8pm as the room was near a large fan.

The room was very warm due to the hot temp. There was a fan in the room but was not really good for 2 people.

Wir waren zu dritt und hatten ein grosses Zimmer. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Im Restaurant hatte es am Abend Livemusik und man muss deshalb nicht weit gehen, wenn man kein Auto hat.

Da die Lage etwas ausserhalb ist, benötigt man ein Auto (das wir ja hatten). Das Frühstückbuffet war gut, es war aber ziemlich schnell leer und es gab keinen Nachschub.

good location, plenty of choice in breakfast buffet, evening menu was superb, but the staff really made our weekend, they were super friendly and helpful.

We couldn’t fault this hotel.

Breakfast was fine but I’d of liked more vegan options. We eat more than just fruit 😁 We were booked into room 227 but that room already had a family in it. The lady on reception was really apologetic and gave us a different room 323 which was fine and we decided to stay in that room for our whole stay which we told the reception staff. However the next day our key card didn’t work and my sister had to go to reception again to get the card activated. That lady was a different lady to the one on Friday and was very different and didn’t even apologise for deactivating the key and just gave her another one. The restaurant staff were amazing and friendly.

The location was terrible. We only had views of car parks, with nowhere nice to walk as we were surrounded by car showrooms and a busy main road. The meal we ate in the hotel restaurant (The Wooden Pestle) on our first night was such poor quality, it seemed like the Fillet of the Day was served on a bowl of reheated vegetables and prawns, and when we mentioned this to the waiter, he made us wait for at least 15 minutes before the duty manager eventually decided to not charge us for the food. However, the whole experience left such a bad taste in our mouth that we didn't even attempt to eat the breakfast we had prepaid for the following 2 mornings. There was nothing 4-star about our experience of the hotel and restaurant, and as one receptionist admitted to us, the only thing Viking about the hotel is the name. We will never stay here again.

The staff ! Apart from a young boy named conner who was lovely and served us at dinner . From the moment we walked through the doors to check in .. the staff were just plain boring not pleasant not kind just like zombies that did not want to be there ! The looks I was been given off the receptionist! Then there was a second (young girl) really dry . But seemed more afraid of the older receptionist! Customer service skills are everything! Rate 1 star for this !
