The rooms are fine. But what sets this place apart from others is the breakfasts, the breakfast room, the staff and the gardens. Very special and memorable. It is very convenient to the airport also.
Parking is ok, but it is not really a negative.
Herrlich!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location near the airport was very convenient for catching our morning flight. The grounds and rooms are lovely. The breakfast in the morning was delicious.
Beautiful buildings and location, charming and comfortable
Well located, nice accommodations, very friendly and helpful personnel, excellent breakfast with local food, most from their farming activities. Nice garden to walk through and enjoy nature.
Nothing, all services were great.
Waanzinnig mooie en rustgevende quinta. Ideale uitvalsbasis om het eiland te verkennen. Heel authentiek.
Wahnsinn was dort alles wächst!

Had an amazing stay. Not only are the rooms super comfortable and clean, the view of the ocean is amazing, the breakfast is lovely and the hosts are super nice! They have farmland, where they grow organic products and also a huuge and beautiful garden, which is just out of this world. Even a tunnel, which ends by the shore. The landing strip of the airport is very close by but it is not loud at all, since the airport is not very busy. It's rather entertaining watching the planes. Would visit Faial again just to spend more time at this place.

Ontbijt is schitterend. Kortom een top plek !

Great hospitality
super friendly staff, great garden, good breakfast, nice vibe.
Wonderful staff, clean comfortable and quiet room, and beautiful grounds with an excellent breakfast . Ana, the manager, could not have been more helpful and kind

Our stay at Quinta das Buganvílias was simply delightful. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The property itself is picturesque, with beautifully maintained gardens and a peaceful atmosphere that provided a perfect retreat. One highlight was the breakfast, which was not just delicious but truly special. We enjoyed fresh produce straight from the quinta's garden, adding a local touch that made each meal memorable. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and authentic Azorean experience in Faial.
This was a beautiful place to stay! The gardens are gorgeous. The staff were friendly, helpful and we especially enjoyed Kyle. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend it. (We even loved the art work on the walls of our room).
Wow! Fantastic place! You can watch take off and landing in your place:) It is good location close to airport (5-7 minutes by foot) like you are exactly inside. There is no noisy in spite of this because there are about 3-5 flights a day. It is clean inside and outside, there is beautiful garden. Good place to have some glass of wine and think about your next trip. When I come back to Faial Island I would like to stay here again, sure:) I would like to say thanks to Ana and Kyle:)
Vielen Dank!
The garden is a part of paradise! The kindness of the team, Ana, Kyle and Rosa :) The locatio'n, close to the Airport, 7' by foot :) not a problem, a few plane it's just fun to watch the ocean and see small plane lift of Cycles for free nice to go to Horta :) The GuestHouse very charming :) The breakfasr very nice with only local food and hand made very good orange cake (by Ana), and very nice hand made Yogourt (by Kyle). Fruits in the garden, eggs from the chickrn, vegetables from the organic garden, no need to go to the local market in Horta (nice small market with only local products at the good price) Everythings perfect even if at this season it rains a lot ;) Kyle is too a fishi'g specialist from the shore or snorkeling he has his part time company and he is passioned so a nice plan :)

Truly one of the best properties we have lived so far in Europe. Kyle and his team are fantastic :) We wholeheartedly recommend this property to everyone considering staying in Faial.
I like the property a lot. It’s a gorgeous place, I highly recommend everyone to stay here. It’s a beautiful farm where you will live with the nature, wake up and go sleep with birds 🐦 have breakfast with a farm and domestic food 🤤 Ana and while staff is so kind and helpful. Thank you a lot with the opportunity to stay with dog, for helping with the car rent and helping and keeping in touch when our flight was rescheduled.
Someone says that there is not good location, but, guys, you will sure need a car for traveling on this island so you won’t have any problems with location. Instead, you will have an opportunity to watch the takeoff and land planes ✈️ You will have a chance to walk trough garden and enjoy the calm and peace.
This is a very charming guest house. Classic old buildings surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens, orchard. Very friendly staff, breakfast with made-to-order eggs fresh from their chickens. Just lovely.
Beautiful place and amazing hostess-Ana. Situated near the airport. Comfortable room, amazing atmosphere.
Warm hospitality, garden, furniture of cultural significance, amazing breakfast served in a beautiful traditional environment of Azores countryside featuring traditional objects, quiet and calming & right next to the airport.
Absolutely amazing place.
The room was too Little for 3 people.
This B&B, which used to be a farm, is in very close proximity to the airport (within walking distance), affording interesting views of the airstrip and planes as well as of the sea. There is a nearby bus stop suggesting that it would not be essential to have a car to explore the island. There is no dedicated off road parking, but there is a layby with some parking spaces off the main road and if that is full, additional parking is available at the neighbouring petrol station. We stayed for three nights and were able to park outside the property on each occasion. Rooms are within several buildings and there are extensive grounds with fruit trees, beautiful plants and plenty of seating areas. Our upper floor room shared a kitchen with an additional room which enabled the preparation of food and drinks. The room was very comfortable and had air con. The breakfast was delicious – our favourite of the holiday: sliced meats, fresh fruit and fruit salad, tomatoes, local cheeses, yoghurt and yoghurt drinks, rolls and bread, cereals, biscuits, scrummy homemade cake, a variety of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. You could also order prepared eggs. Another highlight of this property is the very kind and helpful owner and the lovely lady who serves breakfast. Thanks go to both of them. It is also worth noting that whilst properties on the Azores have check in times, often people have checked out early to catch flights and ferries so usually you can check in on your arrival, rather than having to wait for the advertised check in time. We were able to do this at every property.
Nice property with about 8 rooms located in different small buildings. Some have access to a kitchen area with fridge, oven, etc., which is super handy. We liked that a lot. Room was nice and tidy, bathroom maybe a tad old but still tidy. Breakfast was okay but we had better ones. Breakfast room also very small. If you come at the wrong point in time, you have to wait until someone is finished.
Nice rooms, beautiful garden, good breakfast and friendly staff. What more do you need for a stay on Faial? Close to the airport, good to see the planes come and go. And no, they don't bother you, it's only a few small ones per day. Faial is excellent for walking, Horta is more mondaine.
Quinta das Buganvilias is a very nice, clean and relaxed place. Very friendly people and big rooms. Although it is situated near the airport you don't have any inconvenience because of the low amount of flights. Also they have a beautiful garden. If you're looking for a good hotel I recommend Quinta das Buganvilias!
We had the standard room which was on the first floor overlooking the ocean. This Quinta is quite large and has lots of little places to sit and relax. The breakfast was very good and you could have eggs every morning if you wished. The owner obviously takes a lot of pride in her property and is hands on running the property. The room we had was not modern but very quaint and the bed was very comfortable. We had a little sitting area in front of our room which was perfect to have a glass of wine at the end of the day. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 rating was that there was an extension cord running through the bedroom floor. Everything else was more then perfect.
The Quinta das Buganvilias is quite simply magical. Spending a couple of nights at the quinta, a former organic fruit farm, is a relaxing and unique experience – despite its close proximity to the airport. We were made to feel exceptionally welcome by Ana, whose gentle, generous and helpful hospitality made our stay especially memorable. Step through one of the tall camellia hedge ‘doorways’ and discover a patchwork quilt of wild and overgrown orchard ‘rooms’, with orange, guava, banana, custard apples and other tropical fruit trees. Beyond the orchards are polytunnels with rose trees and colourful gerberas, a chicken enclosure, and beyond that, the quinta’s biggest surprise – wear trainers and take a torch into a long dark tunnel to discover what awaits you at the other end. Although the quinta is right next to Faial’s airport, there are only a handful of flights each day, so for the most part your stay will be perfectly peaceful. Breakfast is a joy. The little breakfast room overlooks the sea. Help yourself to freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious local cheeses, and an assortment of fresh excellent local fare, including homemade guava and loquat jams and fresh fruit salad. We were delighted to be able to enjoy orange pekoe and green leaf teas from Europe’s only tea plantation on the nearby island of Sao Miguel. Our tastefully furnished room shared a kitchenette with another room. We had all the kitchen equipment we needed to conjure up a meal, which we enjoyed in the garden at one of several peaceful outside seating areas. The quinta has a decently stocked honesty bar that’s full of character, with an old mill and old farm implements, as well as a good selection of books about the area. We did our own catering, stocking up beforehand at the huge well-stocked Continente Modelo supermarket in Horta, but perhaps you will find a simple snack at a bar used by locals next door to the quinta. Alternatively there’s a restaurant and a supermarket a 20-minute walk away (along a road with speeding traffic), or you could take a taxi to one of several excellent restaurants in Horta – Ana has produced some useful maps with recommended restaurants marked. For a unique restaurant experience of cooking your own food at your table on a hot basalt stone, visit Canto da Doca (booking ahead is advisable) .
We stayed at the Quinta for three nights in June and loved the beauty of both the gardens and the understated elegance of our room, which was immaculate with a very comfortable bed and classical old portuguese furniture. Anna Oliveira is a very kind host and most helpful when I fractured my wrist during a lavada walk, even offering to take us to Horta hospital herself, though we took a taxi. The breakfast was simple but adequate and delicious and there is an honesty bar available. The Quinta did not provide evening meals as expectedt, so a car is necessary or taxi into town. You can easily walk to the airport and if you have a car, there is a petrol station a few yards from the Quinta. We would definitely stay again if we come back.
Absolutely delightful place to stay! We were very impressed with the beautifully, well kept, classical, unpretentious, accommodation. Walking distance from the extremely calm airport. We were impressed with the exceptionally gentle hospitality. The owners, Ana and Pedro, were absolutely extraordinary in making sure all our requirements were met with excellence (early picnic breakfasts, online check-in, printing our boarding cards…) We thoroughly recommend having dinner at the Quinta. We had an outstandingly delicious meal of homegrown, organic vegetables and an exceptional fresh fish caught by the owner of the Quinta. A place to recommend and to return to.
The hotel is just around the corner from the airport, you can see even the landing strip from the hotel; but as there are only a few airplanes landing or taking off per day, the peaceful atmosphere is not disturbed. It is a rustic hotel in different old stone houses, our room was a little bit dark, but very spacious and clean. The surrounding huge and wild garden is very beautiful. The breakfast is served in a nice small room (feels like in the living room of the hosts) with ocean view. Limited, but excellent choice of local cheeses, cold cuts and fruits from the garden. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Good location to explore the island.
The Quinta das Buganvilias is a charming bed and breakfast in an old farmhouse situated very close to the airport in Faial and about 10 km from Horta. The accomodation is in a beautifully converted barn and is very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts are excellent and the host charming and very helpful. The quinta gardens are well worth a half day visit on their own. Ask Manuel to show you around, they are so extensive that you could get lost in them on your own! The only drawback is that there are no restaurents within walking distance so you will need a car or use taxis. We would definitely choose to stay there again.
This quinta and its owner are true pearls of the island. We got there by chance -- our original reservation at a different place got cancelled due to overbooking, so it's owner arranged our transfer to Quinta das Buganvilias. It's hard to mention all the wonderful things we experienced there. We lived in a fantastic room elegantly decorated in classical old style, somewhat reminding the late 19th century. All the technical and bathroom appliances were very modern and in perfect condition. We had a wonderful very authentic salon next to our room for unlimited use. Breakfast was excellent in quality and quantity, and served in a very charming room with great view on the ocean. But most importantly, the quinta is owned by a genuinely wonderful person. He treated us with the peculiar true-Portuguese care and sincerety, being very helpful but not intrusive, polite but not honey-sweet. When he saw me walking around the estate waiting for my friend, he immediately offered a brief tour around his garden, which is a miraculous collection of herbs, trees, flowers and fruits. This was yet another example of the way people are treated at this quinta. To summarise, I would return to Azores even for visiting this quinta alone, to spend there more days and enjoy again the unforgettable feeling of coziness and calm.
