Magnifique lieu au milieu de la jungle balinaise. Très belle villa avec accès par funiculaire. Endroit exceptionnel, très bonne nourriture très raffinée.

Une fois installés si on veut sortir dans le coin pour faire quelques pas, il n'y a rien. Pareil pour aller en excursion dans le pays on est obligés de passer par Ubud et ses inexorables bouchons. Du coup on met des heures pour faire quelques kilomètres.

This resort delivers from start to finish. It’s the ultimate luxury experience and one night was exceptional. The staff are impeccable. The Michellin star food in 3 Elements is divine. The location heavenly . Do opt to do the wellness walk and you can also see a Balinese Temple more closely. The yoga is very good. This is an exceptional place to stay.

Hanging Gardens was an amazing experience. The resort itself was stunning, the service was top notch, and the food was a really great surprise. If we find ourselves in Bali again we would definitely return. A couple of staff members to highlight: we spent multiple mornings with Gusti the tour guide, who really enhanced our experience taking us through the villages, biking, and to a waterfall ceremony. He was one of our favorite parts of our trip. Candra, the Chief de Cuisine, was also great all trip. The Rasa Masa tasting menu was one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and he even remembered my wife’s favorite dessert and brought it to her later in the trip.

I had a wonderful stay at hanging garden hotel in Bali. The staff were friendly specially Sak Win Krisna, welcoming, and always ready to help. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. The location was convenient, and the overall atmosphere made me feel relaxed. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

On the more expensive side, but very good ambience and all round experience, the cocktails are strong and food is tasty with an amazing view and staff.

Pair that with the warmest, most culturally passionate hospitality we've ever experienced and this place is truly unforgettable. The service is on another level. My husband and I joked that the staff knew what we wanted before we did. For anyone with food allergies, this resort is a dream. They are meticulously attentive, accommodate special requests without hesitation, and bake fresh gluten-free bread daily in rotating flavors (the best I've ever had). The food is Michelin-worthy, a sentiment echoed by trained chefs we met on an excursion, and the portions are generous beyond belief. Come here. You will not be disappointed.

Felt like literal royalty here! This is the place to go to relax and have the most thought out care free vacation experience. The panoramic room view was STUNNING. Definitely worth the trip and the cost.

The views throughout the property are breathtaking and truly one of the highlights of staying here. What impressed me most was the professionalism and attention to detail from the staff. Every team member seemed to know our names and even the length of our stay, which made the service feel highly personalized and genuinely warm. This level of hospitality is rare and deserves recognition. We were also very grateful to receive a complimentary honeymoon villa upgrade, which made the stay even more special. The villa was beautiful, private, and perfectly suited for a romantic getaway. Food was excellent as well, with quality dishes and a dining experience that matched the standard of the resort.

The only downside was the presence of young children. In my opinion, this is not really a family-style hotel but rather a peaceful luxury retreat focused on romance, relaxation, and tranquility. Children under 16 can disturb the quiet atmosphere that many guests come here to enjoy. Another negative point: we only stayed one night—which was far too short for such a special place. Overall, Hanging Gardens of Bali is an outstanding jungle escape with world-class service, beautiful views, and a truly memorable atmosphere.

The Setting Let’s start with the obvious. You are in the jungle. Not jungle-adjacent. Not “lush landscaping.” Actual jungle. The property cascades down a mountainside in terraces. Reception sits at the top, the main pool and restaurant in the middle, and the spa all the way down by the river. Villas are scattered in between, tucked into the greenery. Getting around involves two funiculars, which sounds dramatic but quickly becomes normal. The higher you stay, the better the panoramic views. Lower down, you’re closer to the river and fully immersed in the sounds of nature. Either way, it’s quiet in the best way. No chaos, no background noise, just birds, water, and the occasional reminder that you should probably stop scrolling and enjoy where you are. Also worth noting. You are in the jungle, but the jungle is not in your room. No surprise guests, no bugs ruining the vibe. A small miracle. The whole place leans heavily into romance. If you’re not here with someone, you might start questioning your life choices. The hotel also offers a long list of experiences, from temple visits to cooking classes to very committed romantic setups like floating breakfasts and candlelit dinners. The Rooms The villas are the main event. Spacious, private, and designed so you never really have to leave. Mine was near the top, with wide open views of the valley. Each villa comes with a private infinity pool that might ruin all future hotel pools for you. Inside, you get all the expected luxury touches. Robes, slippers, espresso machine, minibar, plenty of bottled water, and daily fruit service with things you probably won’t recognize but should definitely try. Turndown service includes small treats, which is always appreciated. The outdoor space is just as good as the inside. Lounge beds, shaded seating, and in my case, an outdoor tub with a waterfall shower. It’s the kind of setup where you say you’ll go explore and then immediately change your mind. Minor notes. The AC could have been a bit stronger if you like your room ice cold, and there’s no easy way to stream your own content to the TV. Neither felt like a deal breaker given everything else. The Service The staff here are exceptional. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. By day two, everyone knows your name, which somehow never feels forced. Communication through WhatsApp made everything easy, whether it was booking a massage or arranging transport. It’s the kind of service that feels effortless on their end and very convenient on yours. Food & Drinks There’s one main restaurant that handles everything. Breakfast was included and easily one of the better hotel breakfasts out there. A mix of pastries, fruit, mezze-style spreads, plus made-to-order options ranging from Western staples to Indonesian dishes. Fresh juices, good coffee, and you’re only paying extra if you want alcohol. Dinner was solid. Not the main reason you come here, but more than good enough that you don’t feel the need to leave. The Spa The spa deserves its own section. It sits at the bottom of the property by the river, which already sets the tone. I had two Balinese massages and a reflexology session. The massages were some of the best I’ve had. Credit to Dewy, who clearly knows what she’s doing, but also to the setting. It’s hard to separate the two when you’re getting a massage with the sound of a river in the background. Reflexology was intense in a “this is probably good for me” kind of way. Location This is where you need to be honest with yourself. The hotel is remote. Very remote. About 45 minutes to Ubud center and up to two hours to the airport depending on traffic, which in Bali is always a factor. If your plan is to explore constantly, this might not be the best base. If your plan is to unplug and stay put, it’s perfect. The hotel does offer a shuttle to Ubud, and rides are easy enough to arrange, but this is a place designed for staying in. Overall Hanging Gardens of Bali is the kind of hotel you plan a trip around, not the other way around. The setting is unreal, the villas are hard to leave, the service is excellent, and the whole experience leans heavily into relaxation and romance. If your goal is to slow down and disappear into the jungle for a few days, this place delivers in a big way.

Our family had such a fun stay at the Hanging Gardens of Bali! The staff were super friendly and made everything easy and welcoming. The kids loved seeing monkeys right outside our villa and it felt like a real jungle adventure. The food was delicious, and the whole place had such a peaceful, relaxing vibe. We’d definitely come back.

Hanging Gardens was an overall bad experience, especially given the overwhelmingly positive reviews online. At this price point, you expect luxury. Maybe not at the level of a truly elite property, but still a premium experience. For anyone coming from the US, I would compare it to a Hilton Home2Suites or Homewood Suites dropped into the middle of the Bali jungle. To be fair, there were a couple of highlights. The massages were excellent, and Yuni will absolutely get you right. The gym is also basically brand new and looked barely used. They set the room up for our honeymoon which was cool. Unfortunately, the rest did not live up to the price. There were A LOT of bugs in the room, to the point that pesticide is part of the room tour. The food was mediocre, clearly aimed at a Western audience, and priced accordingly, without the quality or flavor to justify it. Which leads me to the bigger issue here. Pricing. Bali has true luxury properties, including places like Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which is consistently recognized among the top stays in the world (Forbes Top 50 properties). Hanging Gardens is not in that category, but tries to price its products like it is. Overall, I would not recommend this place for a first trip to Bali, or frankly any trip to Bali, especially if you are used to city life. I think it would be a pretty jarring introduction. I would recommend spending a bit more for the Four Seasons or another genuinely upper tier property. Trust me, if you’re spending the money to come out here for a special occasion, like we did, then ball out on the property. It’ll be worth it.

When I arrived there were monkeys in the trees outside my villa, it was incredible! Like having my own personal free-range zoo. The villa and private pool were incredibly luxurious and relaxing, and the views of the jungle spectacular. The breakfast outstanding. Service from all staff was impeccable. I cannot fault this property in any way.

The hotel is fantastic, set in a very special and quiet environment away from noise. We stayed in the “Panoramic Villa” and the views are incredible, the room is huge, and the infinity pool is quite large. The breakfast is very good, with many options available, and the hotel’s shared facilities, such as the gym and the spa, are very modern and up to date. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful, restful, exotic and relaxing. Exactly what we wanted. March was a great time to go the rain was over but it wasn't busy yet. Our private swimming pool was divine. We got a massage every day which was perfect. The staff were so helpful and caring. And the food was better than any resort we've ever stayed at. We loved every minute there

We had an amazing stay in the hanging gardens of Bali. People were so nice and welcoming it was really calm and pleasant to be lost in the jungle. We enjoyed a lot the pools but also the spa and the gym by the river which were amazing. We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely try go back on our next trip to Bali.

The location is quite remote so if you plan on visiting Ubud a lot then bear in mind that it's 40-50 minutes to Ubud centre by car. But if remoteness and privacy is what you're looking for then this is perfect.

I booked seven nights with a health and wellness package, and as the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child—the staff at Hanging Gardens became that village for me. Each morning at 7 a.m., I sit in my villa’s private pool, watching the light cascade through the distant mist as it rolls over the wild jungle. Feeling the rain on my skin while the jungle hums around me has been deeply healing—like returning to a place that feels like home. The personalized attention to detail is second to none. The staff quickly learned my preferences—from juice combinations and tea to sambal and the way I enjoy my meals. Spa and river bath sessions eased tensions I didn’t realize I’d been carrying. Meditation, healing, and yoga gently guided me back to my center. I’m deeply grateful to Pak Gusti for guiding me through the water blessing. I feel more connected to the elements of nature than ever before. Melvin carries the comforting presence of an old friend—the kind you trust when you need to be looked after. Book it now! Currently staying at the Hanging Gardens of Bali in a panoramic pool villa and it exceeds expectations! I have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world e.g Six Senses Maldives, Pullman Phuket Arcadia and many more and this is truly an experience I’ve never had before. Firstly the hotel is incredible, right in the jungle, the staff are the most attentive and truly the most wonderful staff I have ever experienced. This hotel is absolutely fantastic. We loved every minute of our stay. Great attention, plenty of lovely details. It is expensive but location is unique and really one of a kind. The famous infinity pool itself is an experience (it was low season and we were alone!!), but we were also impressed by the views and the private pool of our family villa. Restaurant is great for breakfast and also provides exquisite fine dining and signature cocktails. We also tried the spa and it was the best massage we had during our stay in Bali.

One of the best hotels I have ever been. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. They are extremely helpful. The rooms are so clean which shocked me as the hotel is in the jungle. I literally just left the place and believe me when i say i wanted to stay more! I have traveled many many places and stayed in many hotels/resorts but this one will always have a special place to my heart as it is my honeymoon and everything needed to be perfect and it was!! I will not write how pretty the place is where you can see it in the pictures but i can tell you that the service, food and kindness of the staff is superb and had experienced nothing like it, personal thanks to my personal host, Panggih, for his exceptional efforts to make the stay as much comfortable as possible and believe me when I say that literally nothing I have asked for is not delivered and executed. I am very happy that I chose this place to stay in my first time in Bali and will definitely come back sooner than you think.

We booked a three-night stay at Hanging Gardens of Bali with high expectations, but unfortunately our experience raised serious health and safety concerns, especially as I am pregnant. Upon check-in, there was a strong insecticide smell inside our villa, which immediately made me uncomfortable. Later that same day, the hotel conducted mosquito fogging across the property without any prior notice to guests. Smoke entered our private villa, including both the bedroom and terrace, leaving the space filled with fog for an extended period. As a pregnant guest, this caused significant physical discomfort and anxiety. While mosquito control may be necessary in a jungle environment, advance notification is essential—particularly for guests with health sensitivities—so they can take precautions or temporarily leave the area. Unfortunately, no such notice was given. In addition, there were several smaller but concerning details that detracted from the overall experience: small insects found around the complimentary dessert, and constant creaking noises from the wooden floor, which made the villa feel less well-maintained than expected for a luxury property. The hotel is also very remote, which further amplified our concern, as access to medical facilities is limited. For pregnant travelers or anyone with health considerations, this is something to carefully take into account. While the staff were polite, the overall handling of these issues was disappointing. Based on our experience, I would strongly caution pregnant guests or those sensitive to chemicals or smoke before choosing this hotel.

Location, facilities and staff

Free yoga wasn’t good for beginners. Mats and location just didn’t feel in tune with the overall vibe of the hotel.

The villa was beautiful with attention to every detail. The staff were very attentive & friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurants were also very good with a selection to choose from. The Spa was outstanding

Dear Hanging Gardens of Bali staff, My husband and I stayed with you from 15–18 November 2025 to celebrate my 43rd birthday, and we could not have imagined a more unforgettable experience. Everything was extraordinary — not only the breathtaking surroundings and impeccable service, but above all, the people who make this place so special. I enjoyed the Traditional Balinese massage on two days: first with Muliani, and then with Yuni, and both experiences were absolutely perfect. Their skill, warmth, and care created moments of pure relaxation that I will carry with me for a long time. The kindness extended far beyond the spa. Every staff member we encountered made us feel cherished — from the trainees who welcomed us with smiles in the funicular lift, to the restaurant and bar team who were always attentive, to the wonderful people at the pool who even helped us take beautiful photos. We were touched by the gentle gestures, like the staff who brought tea to our room in the evening, including the lovely lady who came during heavy rain, turning a simple moment into something incredibly comforting. Every conversation, every smile, every thoughtful detail contributed to a stay that felt truly magical. We wish we could list every name, but there were simply too many wonderful people. Please know that each of you made a genuine difference in our experience. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We left with beautiful memories and deep appreciation. We are certain we will return.

Our stay at the Hanging Gardens was absolutely unforgettable! The food was amazing — especially breakfast- felt like a gourmet experience with so much attention to detail. The villa was incredibly beautiful, elegant, and perfectly clean, with breathtaking views of the jungle. The monkey visits in morning were unforgettable. The pool in our villa was stunning — one of the nicest we’ve ever seen with fresh water — and the whole place had such a magical, peaceful atmosphere that it truly felt like we were in heaven. The staff were exceptional, always kind, attentive, and ready to fulfill every wish. We felt completely cared for from start to finish. The cooking class was lots of fun and the food we made was delicious. A truly wonderful experience all around! We would definitely come again!

Having visited Bali several times, with extended stays and stays at a few resorts, this one honestly ranks in my top 3. The villa was spacious, cozy, and full of thoughtful touches. Truely amazing hotel. We spent the last 4 days of our honeymoon here and wish we had planned longer! Villa was amazing, staff were amazing and food was amazing!

We stayed 3 nights in a Panoramic Suite and from arrival to departure, every minute was a treasure. We included all meals except lunches, experiences of massage, water blessing eith Gusti and attended yoga each evening. We did the nature hike and bike ride with Gusti. The cultural experiences made our trip so personal. All thr hotel staff were over the top beautiful and gracious and welcoming. The subdued luxury statement was everywhere. I can't recommend this hotel experience more highly. The food quality, preparation and variation never left us bored without something new to try. The craft drinks, and especially the coconut shell aged negroni were amongst some of the best drinks we've ever had. This place is worth the price. Enjoy it to the fullest.
