Air con didn’t work, friends of ours stayed in another room & theirs was chilled beautifully- not great on a very hot weekend with the sun streaming in all day. No mirror other than the bathroom one, but the lighting was so dark you couldn’t see what you were doing.

Gewoon ter info, ligt niet aan het hotel: in Leiden, of toch in deze buurt waar ik moest zijn, zijn er weinig plekken te vinden die voor 9u ontbijt serveren. Als je dat dus nodig hebt, zoek je beter een hotel met ontbijt.

The decor

Very dark …. Needed brighter lighting especially around the kitchen area.

De locatie is super midden in het centrum, het is ook een mooi ingerichte kamer.

Qua afwerking en hygiëne zou het wel echt netter mogen. De verf is op een gekke manier bijgewerkt waardoor er allerlei vlekken op de muur zitten. Daarnaast was de kamer best stoffig, dit mag wel netter voor de prijs en uitstraling van de kamer.

It was not clean inside the room and especially in the common areas, the dishes were dusty. The staff was not responding in WhatsApp. Though most of this is still not critical, the episode that happened on my departure day was totally unacceptable. The check out time is stated as 12 pm. I went for a walk in the morning and left all of my belongings in the room. I came back at 11:45 to find the room wide open with my things inside and the room already prepared for the next guest. Unbelievable. It is a total breach of privacy and security of my belongings

とにかく窓から見る景色が最高です。 ここにしてよかったー！と心から思うホテルでした。 内装もおしゃれ、かつとても綺麗です。 ホテルにはスタッフいませんが、連絡時の対応も迅速で大変丁寧で大変感謝しています。

重たいスーツケースを階段で上げないといけないこと。 昔ながらの建物なので仕方ないのですが、階段は狭く、私たちのスーツケースがとても大きかったので大変でした。でも何回か往復して運べました。

Die Lage war sensationell! Und obwohl mittendrin war es schön ruhig. Die Klima-Anlage funktionierte super!

Nur Kleinigkeiten. Die steile Treppe ist mit Gepäck schon eine Herausforderung. Der Blick in den Hinterhof ist nicht unbedingt der romantischste.

Stairs were a challenge. The light illuminating the kitchen sink area was not working.

Het rook naar frituur in de kamer omdat je boven een keuken zit. De airco maakte een borrelend geluid en deed het niet. Verlichting ook niet goed in de keuken. Wel zo handig als alles vrij donker is geschilderd! De grote was wel fijn!

De locatie en inrichting

Helaas maar één spiegel! Wij verbleven voor 2 nachten dus meerdere outfits hadden wij voor de dagen mee. In onze kamer was er maar één spiegel in de badkamer, dat overigens een hele goede was, maar stond te hoog voor mij om mijn hele gezicht te zien. Ik ben wel erg klein (1.49cm) dat snap ik dus een tweede spiegel zoals een pas spiegel is erg handig. In de badkamer en slaapkamer was er geen kleine prullenbak.

De ligging is goed. Midden in het centrum. Mijn kamer was rustig (kamer 8).

Kamer vies. Vuil van vorige huurder zat nog in prullenbak. Er was geen prullenbak in de badkamer. Trap in de kamer naar het bed had geen leuning. Het was er donker. Zodra je een raam openzet ruikt het hele appartement naar frituurvet. Water in douche loopt slecht door. Na douchen staat de hele vloer blank. Trappen naar kamers heel erg nauw en zonder leuning.

Het pand en de locatie midden in de stad zijn fantastisch voor een stedentrip. De kamers zijn netjes en er wordt zelfs tussendoor schoongemaakt bij een meerdaags verblijf.

Enige tip is om in de (gigantische) douche van kamer 2 een plankje oid te plaatsen voor de douchespullen.

Voor de wel heel steile trappen had best even gewaarschuwd mogen worden!!!! Waarom was het raam op de zolderkamer dicht gespijkerd? In de woonkamer ontbraken steunen voor de ramen om ze open te kunnen zetten.

De locatie is perfect, midden in het centrum, heel gezellig straatje met veel terrassen. De gevel vond ik ook mooi.

Het had wat schoner mogen zijn, met name de vloer en het toilet

Ik vond locatie helemaal top. Er was geen ontbijt. Er waren voldoende mogelijkheden om in de stad iets te eten. fijn dat je relatief makkelijk naar binnen kon, met een digitale sleutel.

Ik vond de artikelen in de keuken wat karig, er was bijvoorbeeld geen koekenpan aanwezig. De balken op de slaapkamer waren erg laag, waardoor ik wel een paar keer mijn hoofd heb gestoten.

De locatie is perfect. De sfeer van de kamers, het oude pand waarin het zich bevindt, maken het warm en gezellig. Het was wat gehorig, maar dat kun je verwachten in zo’n oud pand op zo’n locatie. De accomodatie had oordoppen klaarliggen. Dus wij hebben heerlijk geslapen!

Badkamer stonk enigszins, leek naar riool te ruiken. Wat minder aangenaam, maar is er een detail.

Nice place in an old building, but nicely refurbished with good modern facilities. Right in the centre of Leiden.

In 1st floor front side room, street noise could be a bit annoying with the terraces full of people, but was ok when I was there.

There is absolutely NOTHING to like about this place that is NOT a hotel. The stair access to the rooms is dangerous and how this place is able to operate as a hotel must be questioned. Although I booked and paid to stay in this place after doing a Risk Assessment I refused to stay there and booked into the Golden Tulip instead. Surely Booking.com have a Duty of Care to its patron to ensure the properties it promotes are safe???? This is not a place to stay at !!!!

Everything, stair access to the rooms - dangerous. It is no wonder it is staffless as no caring employee would want to work there. It really is not a hotel as the name suggests “CTY Books” !!!!!

Great location in the heart of Leiden. Perfect for those who like the energy of people and walking everywhere, including to and from the train stations.

The only negative was the erection of scaffolding and workers sanding outside our windows on the last two days during our stay. We had to keep the shutters closed for privacy making the room dark and warm.

Location is great.

The property is unmanaged so it would be nice to have a place to store your luggage before check-out or after. I send them a message about this but no one replied. Airco didnt work properly.

Leuke locatie dicht bij de universiteit van Leiden. Kamers zijn comfortabel, ruim en netjes. Leuke terrasjes en restaurants op loopafstand. We hadden meerdere kamers voor onze familie en elke kamer had wel iets aparts. Uitzicht, ruimte, gebruiksgemak... Enkel de trap naar boven was wat lastiger voor mij. Zeker geen minpunt, hoort bij het gebouw.

Een super leuke locatie, midden in het centrum. Mooi appartement, met airco! Voor de periode waar wij in gingen, was dat heel erg fijn!

The rooms have a very boutique / chic feel and the location was absolutely perfect. Coffee supply was very much appreciated.

The stairs up to the rooms are a super tight spiral staircase. Trying to take your luggage up is really challenging.

The room was fantastic for people watching, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had a great spacious countertop & the kitchen was nicely set up with coffee making facilities. We stayed in the Roald Dahl room on the canal side for two nights; Saturday night was one of those nights, which was concerning for us as some have said it's quite loud on the canal side, and it definitely was. Once the volume outside starting ramping up, I thought there was no way I'd get any sleep and my worst fear was coming true. As a long time earplug wearer with a snoring husband, I thought there was zero chance earplugs would block out all of the restaurant/street noise. I was wrong. I was absolutely ASTOUNDED at how well the earplugs provided in the lobby FULLY blocked ALL of the noise out & I had a great sleep! So relieved!

Different furniture more conducive to eating and people watching in front of the windows would have been great, but we knew from the pictures of our room what our furniture set up was, so this wasn't a con - just a suggestion that a window table set up to take advantage of the people watching aspect for front facing rooms might be appreciated by others.

Perfect location close to everything. Fair price. Some of the rooms are really nice.

The stairs are extremely steep - if your mobility is slightly impared do NOT book this. There is no elevator.

קיבלנו את החדר העליון (8) לעלות עם 2 מזוודות במדרגות הלוליינות לאנשים מבוגרים , היה די סיוט ( למרות הכושר המעולה). מדרגות גם בתוך החדר למיטה.

Right in the centre of Leiden, market in front. Stylish design and I had a good sized room. Shopping nearby as well as nice restaurants on the channel.

Just to note: difficult if not impossible to get there by car. We walked about 200m in the end.

Ik had een kamer aan de voorkant van het pand op de eerste verdieping maar je kan de mensen op het terras horen praten. en op een vrijdagavond waar het tot 2:00 druk is op straat en ze om 6:00 de markt gaan opbouwen is dat geen succes.

Great central location. Super view of the canal from the Roald Dahl room, with big windows. Some noise from outside, but to be expected in a city centre location, and ear plugs were available :) Entry with phone link worked well.

Very dark decor - stylish, but a bit dingy in bathroom + kitchen areas. Kitchen facilities were welcome, but basic - lacking a chopping board and bread knife. It was adequate for making breakfast + lunches, but we would have struggled to eat a proper meal at the table. Some shelter over the front entrance would be helpful - on a rainy day, it proved tricky to navigate unlocking the front door with a mobile phone without it (and us and our luggage) getting very wet!

The cleanliness, the comfort of the bed, and the well-organized space were excellent. I also liked the décor, the Wi-Fi, and the hotel's location close to the city center.

The stairs, but that's a feature they can't change. The windows let light through even when closed. There is a lot of noise around in the morning and at dusk.

Een betere locatie krijg je niet, midden in het centrum. We hadden een mooie Ruime kamer met fijne airconditioning ook had de kamer een ruime badkamer. Fijn dat we na het uitchecken onze tassen nog even konden achter laten.

Niet helemaal goed schoon, vlek op het beddengoed. Onhandig met de online key ipv een normale kaart.

Ausgezeichnete Lage in Leiden. Lebhafte Gegend mit vielen Shops und Restaurants. Appartement mit Blick auf eine Gracht. Super. Vorsicht: Steile, enge Treppe zu den Zimmern. Kein Lift.

het stoort mij dat er tussendoor wordt schoongemaakt, voortaan graag vragen. het is onhandig dat er geen ontbijt is (bars in de buurt openen pas om 8 uur). de kamer is zwart geverfd en daardoor donker, en de stopcontacten zijn moeilijk te zien

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of using my phone as a key and carrying a power bank as paranoid would lose charge after long day out! Bigger glasses in kitchen would be welcome.

Ik kreeg de airconditioning niet aan de praat. Het was erg warm. Ramen kunnen open maar niet vastgezet, dus stonden te rammelen. Een grote balk op schouderhoogte in het slaapgedeelte. Er stond een koffiemachine, maar een melkcupje was overtijd. 3 steille trappen naar boven. Ook in de slaapkamer naar het slaapgedeelte nog een trap.

De kamer was onvoldoende schoon gemaakt, lag dikke laag stof op de nachtkastjes. Kamer was ruim maar ook een beetje onderkomen. Heeft duidelijk wat liefde nodig; kapotte vloerbekleding op trap, muren moeten nodig geverfd etc. Kamer miste ook sfeer en aankleding. Hing ook een nare geur (poepluier?) in het trapgat. Door het goede weer zaten de terrassen vol en daar kwam aardig wat geluidsoverlast vandaan.

The room was really noisy. I could hear the music and people shouting in the bars and restaurants around until 1:00 am few days. I complained to the hotel "virtual" staff and they did not even reacted or offered any option. There was no housekeeping the fist day and only after complaining I got it the second day

The place was not clean. The toilet was dirty, with some "left overs" and the waste bin was full (from the previous tourists?). I have shared the pictures with the hotel, but no response.

Douchen zonder wand geeft water in de badkamer wat gevaarlijk kan zijn ivm gladheid. De slaapbank kraakt behoorlijk.

Super fijne comfortabele kamer. Mega centraal en gezellig gelegen, half mei geen last van geluid gehad maar kunnen ons voorstellen dat bij mooi weer met alle terrasjes voor de deur je last kan hebben van geluiden

La chambre est en plein centre de Leyden et les couleurs dans les tons de bleu sont très agréables. Il n'y a pas de bruit d'une chambre à l'autre. Nous étions à l'arrière ce qui ne nous permettait pas d'avoir vue sur le canal mais en ce jour de fête du roi ou l'ambiance bat son plein, nous étions bien au calme à l'arrière de la maison.

La vue sur l'arrière n'est pas très jolie mais le bas des fenêtres est décoré avec faux vitraux, c'est très sympa. La petite cuisine est un plus avec son four, sa plaque, etc mais il n'y a nul part où déposer son assiette. La chambre était très propre et l'ambiance du hall d'entrée très jolie.

Quirky and fun hotel right in the centre of everything, very spacious room and comfortable bed. Lots of great bars and cafes nearby. Neat system for access on phone.

Pillows were dreadful just lumpy and thin, expect better for the price paid. Bedroom was quite dusty. Could be difficult for anyone not physically able.

Fantastische locatie!

Posizione centralissima, tutto il centro storico raggiungibile a piedi. Tanti locali per colazione e pasti proprio accanto e lungo il canale. Suite molto spaziosa e luminosa, arredata in stile moderno, molto comoda.

La nostra suite al primo piano aveva una rampa di scale a chiocciola molto ripida e stretta, davvero faticoso portare le valigie in camera!

It has a great location in the center of Leiden. The bed was comfortable. The shades in the bedroom completely blackout the room at night.

The bathroom needs either a good scrubbing or a fresh coat of partners. Lots of splatter and buildup. The TV in the living area is oddly placed right in the entrance with just a chair. There's so much space by the kitchenette. I feel like a couch would be nice.
