The rooms were great, clean and beds comfortable, bathrooms clean and modern. The hotel has a lot of character and staff are friendly and helpful. Food in their restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was generous with great menu choices. Its a lovely town and well worth a visit

Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly too. Room was fantastic . Attention to detail was exceptional. The card welcoming us and giving us information for walks etc,as we had our dog. We ate the first nigt in bar and the food was fantastic. Lovely surroundings, very relaxing . Just what was required.

The first morning breakfast was a bit vague as no direction from member of staff as to what was what,we were sitting in lounge with our dog, he was quite young and maybe a bit more guidance and training would help . Although on 2nd morning superb service from gentleman who was on. Nothing else

On arrival reception staff couldn't have benn more helpful. Dinner in the evening was very nice and served promptly. Sraff in the restaurant were very helpful, professional and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for you. Location.

The room was a bit tired. The beds were very uncomfortable with one of us having backache in the morning due to the dip in the middld of the bed! Breakfast food like bread for the toast and croissants were left uncovered whilst flies were flying about and they were not replenished. There was no milk for cereal and the fruit was also not replenished. We didn't touch the continental breakfast and had a wait of 40 minutes for our cooked breakfast! We were not the only guests to have such a long wait! The waitress kept apologising and on checking out the receptionist refunded the cost of our breakfast.

Rustikale Einrichtung, passend zu der Umgebung. Sehr freundliches Personal. Das Abendessen und das Frühstück war sehr gut. Ich würde wieder hier übernachten.

Paid through booking.com then paid again at hotel as they could not see that i had paid 3 weeks previous. However i did get refunded few days later. Also just found out the other guests had caramel logs sweet in the room All i got was the tin with tea coffee etc.

I am disabled and the staff were very kind and helpful. Nothing was too much bother.The hotel was so central.I cannot eat or drink and my husband doesn't like to eat in the restaurant so the staff made him a sandwich and he eat it in the lounge where we felt comfortable.

Personeel jong en onervarzn Verouderd en afgeleefd hotel. De foto’s op de website zijn misleidend want geven een meer luxe uitstraling. Wij hadden eerder het gevoel van in Fawlty Towers te zijn beland met versleten tapijten, krakende deuren, oude ramen,… veel lawaai omwille van enkel glas. Te dure kamer!

Beautiful suite, coffee and snacks in room were a treat. Breakfast was good, but you couldn’t make a specialty drink like cappuccino or a flat white. That’s a big miss. Dinner was very good.

First room (ground floor double) was pretty dire for the money-dark, for almost opposite the gents used for the pub and very basic.

The bed and bedkinnen were good. The breakfast was correct.

Cleanliness of the room, cupboards, curtains and windows were way below standard. A lot of bees were circling in front of the window impeding us to open them. There was quite a bit of noice from the kitchen that only stopped at 22h00 and restarted between 05h30 and 06h00 in the morning.

Prachtig hotel in het centrum, klassiek ingericht, zeer sfeervol. Wij kregen een upgrade kamer, groot, en vrij nieuwe inrichting Goed restaurant. Mooie zaal om bijv. Een boek te lezen met de cocktail van de dag. Het ontbijt 17Pind p.p. Hebben wij niet geprobeerd, er zijn genoeg koffiebarretjes om de hoek.

Location was good in centre of town - easy Parking outside. Shower and bathroom good. Staff were very helpful and nice bar for a drink.

Our room was tired and a bit sad! Only one bedside lamp, worn carpet, crumbly ceiling and view of gas tanks. The pillows were also very hard so not a great sleep. Breakfast was just ok.

Location in Ballater was fab. Parking close by.Rooms and decor lovely ,full of Scottish charm and all areas were kept clean and tidy. Choice of food in restaurant and bar is really good. Hotel was full this weekend. Definitely worth booking dinner and breakfast times ahead of visiting to get best selection/options.

Nothing.Not a negative. Only tiny thing,our room looked onto someone's garden,at the back of hotel. Was quite loud at times,doing work to their garden but unavoidable as hotel surrounded by residents/houses.

We do like the Balmoral Hotel, lovely old hotel with a good mix of old and new. The dinner was excellent, promptly served and good (Scottish) food, interestingly cooked. Afterwards, we enjoyed sitting in the comfortable lounge with the family. Less good was the service at breakfast with too few staff managing the number of guests (the hotel was always busy). The hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of Ballater, making ravelling around is easy when based here.

Stopped for a walk-in tea and was greeted warmly by staff. Good selection of ales and lager, all cheerfully served. A local recommended a curry and I was not disappointed (Lamb Nepalese curry); if was delicious. Wife had steak pie (also lovely!) and the children had a chicken fajitas; regular potion but chef kindly halved it and served on two plates (was adequate for a 7 and 10 year old). Superb desserts too. Overall, reasonably priced, excellent food and super service. Thank you Balmoral Arms. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nos ha encanto este alojamiento, cada detalle hace que lo sientas acogedor. Viajamos con nuestra hija de 20 meses y nos proporcionaron todo lo que para ella solicitamos (una cuna de viaje y una trona). El personal del hotel super amables.

Lovely bar area with plenty of seating, helpful knowledgeable staff, brilliant menu choices and an excellent and rare Royal Lochnagar Whisky. We had Balmoral chicken which was tasty well presented and one of the best whisky sauces we have tasted. Portion sizes were just right leaving enough space for pudding. We'll definitely be back. Thank you to everyone working on July 21st.

We loved the location and the history of the space.

The walls are quite thin. We had a neighbor pop in at 1am into their space and it was a bit loud.

We hebben 1 kamer met 2 bedden aangevraagd maar dat was niet doorgekomen en erg kleine bedden. Het lijkt alsof er bespaard wordt in dit hotel. Erg zonde want de basis is leuk

Overall a very good time had at Balmoral Arms.Only a small negative is the overall window ledges in the main reception area,the dining area & restaurant had the same issues.The presence of dead flies was also present.

De ligging is goed en her oogt erg Schots. De maaltijden in het restaurant zijn zeer goed. Ontbijt kan beter.

De kamer was superklein, de badkamer was echt heel mini. Geen mand of bakjes voor de hond, hoewel je er behoorlijk voor betaald. Veel te duur voor wat het is.

Vriendelijk personeel. Bij aankomst leek het bed al beslapen te zijn, en koekje geopend op de kamer: naar de receptie gegaan en deze hebben direct housekeeping gestuurd en het probleem opgelost. Ontbijt was lekker maar zeer chaotisch, service verliep niet vlot. Personeel deed hun best maar waren jong en onervaren. De kamer was mooi maar er hangen toch was spinnenwebben, dat voor deze prijs niet had mogen zijn.

Hygiëne in de kamer kon zeker beter: spinnenwebben id badkamer en id kamer. Prijs - kwaliteit, is het hotel duurder. Het hotel is oké, maar vond de prijs net te duur voor wat we kregen.

A pleasant hotel, in an attractive village, well situated to visit the countryside and a whole host of attractions, including Balmoral and the Highland Games site at Braemar. There is no lift. The staff were helpful and polite, with good service. Our room was comfortable and quiet after hours, despite being at the front, with an excellent shower and a free standing bath. It was though very hot and there were insufficient fans to go round. We accept that temperatures in excess of 30 must be very unusual in Ballater. The food in the restaurant was fine with generous portions.

Restaurant was a nightmare. Very limited menu of which half was unavailable due to them having a busy day! - we prebooked and this was at 7pm! We ended up leaving and eating at the Italian next door which was great. Breakfast was equally as bad, nothing left on buffet, had to ask for glasses, bowls everything. Food was poor

We had a lovely stay at the Balmoral Arms. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just off the main street of Ballater. We received a warm welcome from Isla in the lovely reception room. Our room was perfectly clean and beautifully appointed. We had breakfast in the hotel each morning and dinner in the 1852 restaurant on one evening. The food and service was faultless and excellent value for money. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely recommend you.

The location was perfect and the hotel has great facilities. We were in an upstairs room and the staff were very helpful with taking luggage to and from the room. The bar and restaurant were also great and there was entertainment one night, which we also enjoyed.

Parking is not on site, but either in the carpark across the road or out the front of the hotel, if available. I don't think this was clear when booking. We didn't have any problems getting a park though, just something to consider.

This hotel is in a great location and is comfortable and roomy. The bar and restaurant are good. The room was comfortable and quiet but the shower was a bit dated. Parking was okay for us directly outside but is limited. Staff were good, but a bit unfocused at times.

We stayed at the Balmoral Arms (again) at the end of June as a surprise for my birthday, and it really does have a special place in my heart. You know that warm, cosy feeling where you are somewhere you really love and feel at ease in? That’s here. The staff are all so wonderful, kind and helpful and ALWAYS make a fuss of Martha our dog. This place isn’t dog friendly, it’s dog loving! The service, the rooms, the food, the drink… all just spot on. Right in the middle of my favourite wee place Ballater, I will be back again soon! Thanks to the team for such a wonderful birthday day.

Hotel molto sporco . Cattivo odore ovunque di cane bagnato misto a vomito . A cena abbiamo aspettato più di un ' ora per essere serviti . Porzioni troppo ristrette e abbiamo trovato pessima anche la qualità. Un prezzo sproporzionato sia per la cena che per i servizi . In sala il personale non è professionale . Si aggira con divise luride . Hanno rifilato a mia moglie il pane con il glutine dopo aver fatto sapere ripetute volte che rischiava la vita se avesse toccato il glutine . La stanza sporchissima e minimale . Da ostello più che da hotel . Le camere al piano terra danno praticamente su un muro . Sono strette e soffocanti . Senza aria . Personale sgarbato , maleducato e con seri problemi nel relazionarsi con gli ospiti . Abbiamo visto anche nei confronti degli altri ospiti anziani e disabili atteggiamenti violenti e aggressivi . Anche io paesino Ballater è molto triste . Alle 16.chiudono tutti i negozi . Non c'è un anima viva nel paese . Balmoral è un delusione perché gli interni del castello in quanto residenza privata non sono visitabili . Insomma non c'è nulla per cui valga la pena stazionare in questo luogo in generale e in questo ostello in particolare .

Bedside lamp wouldn’t switch off. The hand held shower didn’t work. The room was too hot at night and no fan provided. The telephone on bedside table to call reception was dead. Also you had to book a slot for breakfast.

Ein tolles Hotel mit dem Charm vergangener Jahrhunderte. Historische Einrichtung. Schönes, relativ großes Zimmer mit Blick zur Kirche. Gutes Frühstück mit viel Auswahl und Eierspeisen aus der Küche auf Bestellung. Sehr nettes Personal mit guten Tipps. Zentraler Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen durch den Ort und Ausflug nach Balmoral.

Im Bad lies sich das Fenster nicht öffnen. Einige Steckdosen funktionierten nicht (oder wir haben es nicht hinbekommen...). Wieder nur eine Decke zum Zudecken für 2 Personen.

Was a bit too dog friendly for me as unfortunately I’m allergic to dogs. Didn’t realise how dog friendly it was until we arrived to a very large one at reception followed by numerous others. Had to vacate the bar area due to my eyes swelling up with being surrounded by dogs.

Absolutely dream of a destination! Gorgeous big room, the Junior Suite, with anything you could ever wish for! The location is brilliant and easy distance from other restaurants, pubs and lovely walks.

Room and bathroom were very small (ours was a 'cosy' double). Could have done with a few basics like tissues. Felt it was expensive. And for that price point I'd expect nicer bread at breakfast than basic sliced, for example
