Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It’s location and free parking. Good breakfast options. Very friendly and helpful staff. Overall good value for money.
Communal carpets could do with a good clean. Lumpy pillows.
rather unimpressive from outside but interior warm and welcoming. room comfortable if a little tired. food good and staff friendly
bathroom door did not shut, toilet roll holder coming away from wall
Location Easy to get to the town.
No lift. A problem as our luggage was heavy, but we asked for assistance and someone took our luggage upstairs.
Clean comfortable
Poor breakfast Very noisie staff talking very loudly outside our bedroom window till early hours Very dated
The furniture in the room was worn and badly stained, the shower was non existent. Its only redeeming features were the food was ok and staff good
The shower and the furniture in the room
Excellent location and very friendly staff
Could do with being upgraded a bit ... was very tired in places
Its location
It’s was poor from the initial greeting….then went down hill I had a shower and ended up on the bathroom floor after a massive fall….no rubber mat..no grab handles…slick Lino floor… Reported it to reception……the bearded man didn’t have a clue what to do…..( but never once asked if I was ok?) Breakfast was a joke…… Dreadful experience…..reminded me of Aberdeen hotels back in the 80,s…… Never again
Dirty
Bedroom smelled sweaty and dirty. Sheets and pillow cases looked like they were already used We found some hair on the pillow cases Room smelled like old wet towels
Quiet location Close to town centre Walks nearby Comfy beds No stairs The Carvary on Sunday night is legendary it included soup/mains/dessert bar Breakfast was really nice Staff were absolutely lovely.
Room was quite warm overnight
Nice location on the river and near the town center. Bathroom recently renovated.
The entire place showed its age.
Location
It’s a bit dated
Conveniently located. Easy to find. Good breakfast.
Incredibly warm at night in a family room. A fan would have been useful.
Decent value for money
Ok. Hotel for 1 night
Nothing
I thought the place looked very tired and the bedding didn’t look the best particularly pillows
Nessun problema per il parcheggio. Colazione ottima, varia e abbondante.
Location is great right in the centre of Wick. The hotel had decent parking including charging for electric cars. The rooms had everything needed including kettle and hairdryer. Shower had good water pressure and warm water. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was pretty good with a selection of hot and cold options. Nice communal areas with ample seating.
God location, clean comfortable, attentive staff
Food amd Staff Fantastic
Fire Alarm problem went on till 2am couldn't sleep.
The hotel had availability in July last minute (a day before travel). The room was warm and they had tea and coffee making facilities with a biscuit. The Press and Journal newspaper was available to guests for free on check in. The fruit salad at breakfast was fresh and the yogurts individual rather than a bowl of gloop.
I really wanted this to be a positive experience as I travel to Caithness at least once a month and usually stay elsewhere. I had been told the food was good so gave it a try rather than my usual place. I will not be back! Where to start! The room was £117, a good £50 more than elsewhere so I expected it to be well maintained and clean. The furniture was cracked, the chair had what I hope was food on it rather than blood, the bathroom was disgusting and full of rust, dirty grout, a filthy pull cord for the light, and the towels had holes in them and were frayed. See the photos. The WiFi didn't work, the TV didn't work (which I managed to eventually fix myself), and we could hear every breath the person in the room beside us took because the snoring and seagull calls from outside travelled through the paper thing walls. On check in, the man with the beard gave us the key and walked away. I had to find the room without direction and realised there was no lift, which was a problem post operation. No offer of help with luggage to go up the flights of stairs. No direction on breakfast times nor checkout. Just took the money and barely spoke. He did print out a dinner menu when asked if they were serving evening meals. When I saw the state of the room, I wasn't about to eat there as can only imagine what stat a place that the public wouldn't see would be like. The cooked breakfast was buffet and a greasy congealed mess..I saw one guest open one of the kids and place it on top of the open food, flick a hash brown off it with his hand and replace the lid. No indication of what is in anything. It really needs visited by trading standards. There was one young girl on clean up and coffee duty who was lovely and working so hard but she was swimming against the tide and needed another person on breakfast duty to help. Really disappointed with The Norseman.
Zentral gelegen, freundliches Personal.
Nothing really
The shower was terrible, next to no water pressure The creakiest floor I've ever seen, ever single step the floor creaked The bed was so uncomfortable and not enough pillows Curtains barely kept out the light so when the sun had risen the room was bright
Conveniently located closed to town centre. Room was clean and tidy. Staff were helpful.
Rooms need some sound proofing. We could hear other tenants, toilet flushes from other rooms....
We only booked B&B but on the Friday I asked if we could have an evening meal but with my son and partner and it was no problem. When we were leaving I said I had to pay for our evening meal and was told nothing appeared on our room, but with no problem the receptionist sorted things out very pleased with the service.
Nothing to complain about everything was fine
Great beds,
Had to go look for tea and coffee in the room, as it was hidden in the desk. Had to ask for a pot of tea at breakfast a few times.
Food excellent. Staff very polite and helpful
Nothing
It was ok
Food was awful
PARKING: large open air private area next to the hotel building. No gate, no camera, just a small wall. The hotel sits in front of a bus station. Overall not bad, but the area looked like one let-go since some time. CHECK-IN: easy and quick. No particular extra todos. STAFF: nice and friendly, but not very talktive. WIFI/VPN: worked SIZE: fair for a night or two, not really huge. POWER WHEN YOU LEAVE: stays on, you have physical key. CLEAN: it looked so to me. QUIET: yes, the whole village is relatively quiet. LOCATION: surroundings were nothing cool, but walk few steps and you are in the center of the village or at the harbor. So a good spot to move about. SERVICES AROUND: in few mins walking you have the village at your disposal. RESTAURANT IN WALKING DISTANCE: yes, some choice, but don't get there too late. Like past 8pm. They close.
STYLE: it really needs some renovation. Overall (almost) everything worked, but it looked like no effort was spent in keeping the place in shape in the last 30 years. Common areas also smelling funny. Room was ok however. BATHROOM: bathtub with shower curtains and a single bottle of soap provided for both the shower and the sink. Fine, but not really what I expected given the price. VALUE FOR THE MONEY: not the best, I expected. Given the decadent style and the need of renovation, it was a bit overpriced. Parking is also... just the area next to the building.
Goede ligging in het centrum. Parkeren voor de deur. Prima kamer met badkamer, schoon. Ontbijt was zelfservice: eitjes, toast, genoeg keuze en lekker.
Spacious hotel
Hot Breakfast was disappointing
Clean and comfortable. Polite friendly staff. Appreciated water, biscuits and fudge on room.
Low power in shower
Nice room
Evening meal very average
The food was really good and the staff friendly
The room was sparse and looked tired and outdated. The tables were basic and the chairs old and had wobbly legs, I saw someone nearly fall backwards because of the unstable chair
Location, facilities good size room, parking.
Buffet am abend sehr gut und reichhaltig! Ebenso das frühstück!
The riverside location.
La amplitud de las salas
Obsoleto. Ventana rota, no se pudo cerrar. Toallas etc muy gastadas y deterioradas. Almohadas insufribles y colchón muy incómodo
Room was spotless, bed was comfy. Staff were great. A very good choice at breakfast. It is dated but that didn't matter as everything else was fine. We had an evening meal in the restaurant. And compliments to the chef it was so tasty and plenty of it.
Nothing
Staff were lovely, welcoming, attentive and represented the hotel extremely well. Room was very comfortable. Food was decent. Plenty of parking in municipal car park. Very central location within Wick. Breakfast was fabulous.
Hotel Car Park full. Not sure how the EV Charging worked or what price was. Plenty charges elsewhere but may not be as fast as hotels. Reception was very busy at times so folk had to wait.

Lovely friendly helpful staff. Comfy bed. Great breakfast selection.
No decaf t-bags in room. No lift.
A good location near the centre of town. The night porter lady was polite and apologetic and tried her best to source some heating.
It was cold with no heating, it was 5degrees outside but the heating was turned off, we resorted to leaving the hairdryer on to warm the room. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisey as was the fan in the room next door. In general the hotel was tired and in need of a good refurb and deep clean.
Nice breakfast and the room was comfortable. Thank you for a nice stay. Limited parking but we were able to find a park.
Available parking was taking over by the charging stations which made parking a little uncertain.
Not a lot.
Whilst the reception and lounge were in a good decorative order, our room left a lot to be desired. There had been a flood from the room above at some point and there was quite a bit of staining on the bathroom ceiling. There was staining under the hand basin as well. In a part of the country where it doesn't get dark at night, you'd expect blackout curtains.....instead, our curtains had a few hangers missing along with the stops at the end of the rail. These curtains were pointless. We opened the window and discovered the wooden frame was totally rotten at the bottom. How they managed to get paint to stick to a surface like papermachae was a feat it it's self. Whilst breakfast was ok, the plates were far too small. They were big enough for say an egg and a rasher of bacon only. went I tried to pile a few things on my plate, it led to an annoying experience of items falling off onto the table whilst cutting things up. You need a bit of elbow room with a fry up!
Gedateerd Bed ??
Received a warm welcome from the receptionist. She was very helpful. She allowed us to store our bags as we were too early for check in. The bar staff were friendly. The hotel was walking distance from the train station and close to bars etc. The breakfast was ok - we have had better but had worst!
We had been out for food and was looking forward to a night cap in the bar only to find it was closed at 10.00 pm!!
Really cleans and all the staff were friendly
1st time at Norseman & wouldn't be the last. Lovely Welcome - clean basic room with everything you need for an overnight stay. Free Parking across the road in large area. Free wifi. As it was a works overnight stay I arrived too late for food but menu looked amazing, friendly bar area with quiet areas if needed. Amazing all you can eat Breakfast, fruit salad was lovely. Centrally based for the town, shops walking distance from the hotel. Bus Stop right outside the front door.
It is an older building so 'sound' travels. U do hear ur neighbours speaking but soon settled down & I had a lovely sleep - nothing i didn't expect
Very cozy & comfortable. Food & service was excellent. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly.
Stile cottage… pulito! Parcheggio gratis. Consiglio!
Close walk to the train station. Great options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The bus terminal is across the road from the hotel. Perfect for day trips to Thurso and John O’Groats
Large hotel near the river in Wick. Caters to groups. Parking in front of the hotel. Very good breakfast. The room was large and very comfortable.
Very comfortable.
The outside is disappointing, But don’t judge a book by the cover.
Breakfast was good
Very poor shower, pillows on bed hard & uncomfortable
Central with easy walk to the town centre, railway station & airport. Bathroom was clean but dated.
Dull & uninviting from the outside. Very dated inside and tired. Public rooms very stuffy - could do with some fresh air in the lounge. Corridors dull and room doors marked & dated. Very dated bedroom with stained carpets & damaged furniture.

Staff friendly room clean
Location of hotel perfect for our journey Staff friendly but man that checked us in was on phone most the time to other customers. Room spacious , and clean Restaurant served extensive menu evening meals which was lovely , we had the roast .Breakfast menu was adequate also buffet self service.
Nothing.
Excellent location in Wick for touring and walking. Very nice staff.
Nothing
Location. Friendly staff. Ground floor room. Brekki!!
Lack of sockets near bed..
Excellent value, dog friendly, food was really nice too. We will stay here again.
Location and parking. Good variety of options for breakfast.
Twin room and unfortunately duvet cover too small for the duvet meaning it was doubled over inside the cover. Room a little bit dated.
Buona colazione. Parcheggio gratuito.
Great location staff good
The cooked breakfast was too oily which spoilt the nice ingredients
Sehr sauber, gut unterhalten und erneuert wo nötig.
-
A good location and a super comfy bed.
Great hotel with a fantastic old school feel to it, service was fantastic
Could do with modernisation and a lick of paint
Good room. We had dogs, and there were blankets, towels, bowls, and treats for them
Not made very welcome on arrival or a goodbye when leaving. The young staff member at breakfast was disinterested and rude. We asked at reception if they would recommend anywhere to eat, but the gent was clearly disinterested in replying.
Hyvä sijainti, lähellä rautatie-asemaa. Hiljainen ja siisti huone. Aamiainen oli runsas ja hyvin maistuva.
???

Excellent value for money
Bed was a little lumpy
The room was lovely and the hosts very helpful. Breakfast was outstanding
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. Staff very accommodating and managed to move us to a room on lower floor.
More available information about local bus travel. We wanted to go to John O Groats but the reception staff didn't have info and the main bus stop opposite hotel didn't have a printed timetable.
The room was clean, bed was comfortable enough.
Worn down hotel. Wifi in the room was worthless. Breakfast was very disappointing. The croissants were like cardboard. Better not serve those at all.
Location Staff attentive
Situated well in town , easy parking
Could do with an area for smokers , rather than standing at front door , unfortunately no lift , although not disabled my sister would have struggled to reach top floor , thankfully we were moved to 1st floor
As usual a lovely stay, clean bedroom and bathroom with comfy bed, fresh sheets and good facilities. Friendly staff Good location for me visiting my father in Seaview care home Hood breakfast
Nothing to dislike
Room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Fantastic selection of food at breakfast. Bar food also excellent.
No sockets at bedside. Lighting wasn't great
Everything. Didn’t expect this class of hotel for the price we paid. Very clean, great breakfast, friendly staff. Could not complain about anything.
The Wi-Fi. It really sucked.
Comfortable sleep and excellent breakfast with very large selection
